AI isn't inherently bad. Not even all image AIs are inherently bad. There are AI systems being studied for their ability to identify cancer cells (which actually is an offshoot of a Japanese AI program for identifying various baked goods)

The problem with AI like ChatGPT is that they use stolen data for training and that they use a ton of energy and water. The problem is not that they're AI. I am unsure if the Cyto-Aiscan uses as much water as ChatGPT per usage, but even if it does, it would at least be far more justified in doing so, as it is shaping up to help diagnose cancer cells in biopsy slides, even in fairly ambiguous samples that experts can struggle with. Hell, I'd argue that Bakery-Scan, which is the original purpose, is still a better use of that water than ChatGPT, since it's at least helping people get their hands on delicious fresh baked goods that aren't wrapped in plastic that'll end up in the landfill/ocean and our bodies, while also making it so employees don't have to learn to quickly identify the difference between thousands of different kinds of pastries, because I'm not sure how much cashiers in Japan get paid, but it's probably not enough to require that level of study, especially since it's common in Japan to introduce new limited time items just about every week.

#not to knock Japan's love of limited time items #i love that kind of stuff #at least as a customer #but my work does limited time stuff when certain movies come out and that's enough of a pain in the ass as an employee #and we don't do them nearly as often as most places in Japan

npc!shen yuan applies for a job opening on qiong ding for librarian smth like that, and yue qingyuan has barely looked at his resume or spoken to him before hiring him on the spot.

at first shen yuan is excited and proud cus wow he aced that job interview, can it really be this easy??? then he meets shen qingqiu and sees they could easily pass for brothers and have the same surname, so for a little while he's grumbly and annoyed that the sect leader only hired him bc of his resemblance to the scum villain, which honestly hurts a bit you know.

but then, double plot twist, the resemblance had nothing to do with it, yue qingyuan just saw an eager young man who had compiled all of his experience and skills on a single paper (yue qingyuan's overworked heart cried tears of joy), who seemed genuinely passionate about library work and treats the other workers well.

bonus thought: at first shen qingqiu has the same suspicion as well, that yue qingyuan was just hiring a lookalike for some weird reason, but then he meets shen yuan, sees the work that he does and is like "i have to have this man for my peak" and starts trying to poach him.

#that headcanon that sy is so well liked bc hes kind and humble in a world that pushes the opposite #pidw is very much kill or be killed. hide your weaknesses. be the most powerful #and then sy treats everyone equally and is generally a kind and easy going guy #and everyone is like ?????#plus its really funny to me if pidw had no resumes #its mainly abt family and connections and such #meanwhile sy is like ''im good at ordening things. i love reading. i love editing''#and he has a lot of modern ordening experiences #maybe he helped his father/brother in the office a bit so he knows some stuff #plus sy canonically has a good memory (remembering all those obscure pidw plots)#anyway this idea just sounded rlly funny in my head #qijiuyuan #if you want #that was my goal anyway #shen yuan #npc shen yuan #svsss au #yue qingyuan #shen qingqiu #svsss
