okay! once again, i labeled all of the custom art as such in the drive(UPDATE. NNOT TRUE ANYMORE. reformatted file names to be easier to mod in auau. apologies!), but if you want a full list, the customs are hatless siffrin jackpot, bonnie jackpot, bonnie special attack, bigfrin attack, and a bunch of alts which are definitely not related to any projects i’ve been thinking about don’t worry about it. and out of those customs, only like. 3 of them are actually completely from scratch.

while i did my absolute best to keep the aspect ratios completely the same as the originals, there’s 3 exceptions that i just couldn’t get to work.

isabeau’s hair in his special attack cg wouldn’t fit in frame if i kept things completely accurate to the og, so i moved his cg down a bit. it shouldn’t cause any issues with modding or anything, it’ll just appear slightly lower than it does in game. alas…

isabeau’s sleeve and mirabelle’s hair made their jackpot sprites a little larger than the originals? i’m hoping this doesn’t have too much of an effect (since the jackpot sprites have inconsistent sizes) but i can’t test this myself unfortunately. aaa feel free to let me know on discord if any problems arise!!

i managed to fix these, so they aren’t going to cause problems now, but my original drawings for mirabelle and siffrin in the final attack scene were a pain in the ass to fix. mirabelle’s sprite was slightly too talk to fit in frame and siffrin’s hat whacked bonnie in the face while i was editing everyone together. i’m only mentioning this because it took like an hour and a half to fix them and finish the scene.

all that aside, these were a fucking BLAST to work on. apparently this ended up taking 57 hours over exactly 10 days. which is a little worrying if you do the math on that but somehow i have not burnt myself out. i will be doing enemies at some point!!! but probably not for a little bit. i think my friends will actually kill me if i don’t take a break.

once again, happy birthday isat. you’ve ruined my life and i wouldn’t have it any other way (silly).

also, on an actual serious note, this little timeloop game has genuinely changed my life for the better? you guys are probably sick of hearing it at this point (or maybe not, i don’t talk about myself That Much. i hope), but i was practically a ghost for about 2 years before joining this fandom. it’s a little surreal to suddenly have friends (plural!!!) and people who Care about me, or even know i exist, honestly. it’s weird!! in a good way!!!

i don’t think i would’ve ever come back to social media if this community wasn’t so welcoming. i’ve met a lot of really great people through this game!!! so, uh, thank you isat, i guess. here’s to another year.

I may be cringe but I am FREEEEEEE

Wanted to redraw this scene with them bc I was thinking about them a lot. I haven’t figured out Petey’s backstory yet in this AU I’ve lowkey been slacking, but I do know he is out to win and wouldn’t hesitate to taunt DM, he is EFFED UPPPP!!!! After this song I think obviously DM loses, but he DOES give it his all because he doesn’t want Knight’s sacrifice to go to waste. In Blink Gone when till sees mizi, this AU would go around the same where DM sees Sarah in the crowd and reaches out before getting shot and everything… this is tragic I hate alien stage.

I have a lot of more thoughts I’ve been thinking for this AU so I’m just gonna write them all down and apologize in advance for the messiness…

Greg and Sarah as I somehow forgot to mention before have a close friend relationship, not to the extent of Greg and Knight’s closeness but they were definitely still close. Sarah is a very empathetic person, it’s very easy for her to understand what people are thinking or trying to say which is also why she gets along with Greg so well, cuz he doesn’t have to use that many words when talking to her; she just gets him. Kinda like canon Sarah and DM when they do that charades thing. I want to say they see each other as siblings but I’m not entirely sure yet. Greg among others in the garden repeatedly go to her for advice or to ask questions, since she’s somehow always got something insightful to say.

Sarah was always very outgoing and friendly with everyone. She was always wanting to know more, she spent most of her time in the garden journaling; writing things down about other people that she would learn either through observing or asking. Naturally because of her curious nature she ends up finding out what alien stage is actually about. She’s conflicted to say the least on whether she should let everyone else know or not; she didn’t even have a plan for escaping if they did know, she could get into trouble, she could get separated from her friends, or they wouldn’t even believe her, she’d be isolated, soo many unknown possibilities. She doesn’t even let Yolay know, hoping to protect her from the truth.

Okay Yolay intro. In this AU she’s very talented at singing and preforming, even picking up acting along the way. She’s like super pretty and popular buttt despite all this she’s not like actually happy with her life, everyone feels empty to her, always the same mundane compliments and routines, Until she meets Sarah…… (I’m not 100% on Yolay’s backstory before she meets Sarah but this all I got for now…)

Over time Sarah tries to make friends with Yolay and get to know her better because she’s curious. Yolay notices this and finds it endearing, she’s mostly appreciative of her. It takes a while but eventually they both start to open up to each other and become close friends. Yolay’s appreciation for Sarah turns into love and so does Sarah’s admiration. They never say it outright but they both know they love each other oouururegggh my doomed yuri 💔💔

Anyways when Sarah and Yolay go up against each other in alien stage, Yolay is almost guaranteed the win. Sarah is great at singing — but compared to Yolay, it’s likely she’d end up losing. Sarah knows and believes this, so she just gives it her best shot. They sing the duet, (my clematis) together, Sarah just tries to enjoy her last moments with Yolay, before she hears a BANG… blood splattered on Sarah’s face and she realizes Yolay lost. Her intentions still aren’t clear whether Yolay knew all along and let her win or not but either way Sarah was NOT prepared for this and ends up reacting the same way mizi did when sua died.

Trying to keep everyone in character so bad but it’s lowkey hard for Yolay when there’s not a ton to work with gulps… and also I don’t usually write like ever. So.

TLDR: Sarah and Yolay love each other. Yolay Dies. Also Sarah and Greg are good friends. Idk what’s up with Petey. And LP. I need to write their lore.

[it’s quick, mostly a color test. made it in about 20 minutes, so I didn’t care about finer details. I just wanted to test colors. it didn’t turn out exactly how I pictured it but it was just a break for me since I’m working on another big piece that kinda drained me after finishing a pert of it. maybe I’ll make more smaller things instead of trying to push through this giant project in one go, drawing this was fun!]

[Night is the entire reason why I headcanon snow being a big deal in the headspace. the reason why I’m not particularly happy with how it turned out is just because the blizzard after calamity is supposed to be the strongest one but this honestly looks more like a light snow. I guess it’s probably something to do with how little fog there is, I’d guess you would hardly be able to see your own hands in a real intense blizzard. I just wanted to color test the trees and was listening to night, so… turned out this way I suppose. didnt want to cover up all of my 15 minutes of painting trees haha. maybe ill redraw it someday, though it might just be a blank screen of snow fog with a blue glow. that’s kinda accurate though— that’s what heart sees in the snow after all!]

Hey friends, I’m going on a Hiatus . . .

(Please read till the end — There’s a doodle & a cookie for anyone who read all the way through)

My plan is at most a month, which to me isn’t very long, but maybe to you guys it is. Though who knows maybe it’ll be shorter, I have no idea.

One part is my mental health and work. It’s hard to worry about posting when you’re trying to meet daily deadlines at your job (as low as the income is I do need it). We have also been going through a management shift and it’s been kind of hard but we’re pulling through. I’m proud of my team, it’s just hard some days when it’s the summer and we get a lot of business and hundreds of tasks.

The other part is my art. I’m not short on ideas, but I am struggling to post every week. I have all this art stored up, but because it’s not (directly about) “The Octonauts” my view count is tanking.

That’s not the only reason, but it doesn’t really help my self esteem when I’ve spent 20+ hours on a illustration that took me 10 more to just sketch out on paper, only for 25 people (bless their hearts) to even leave a like on it.

(I’m working on trying not to focus so much on the count again, but it’s kind of hard sometimes ngl)

Anyways, I’m going to be gone for next little while working very heavily on lore and re-explaining my world because I’m not entirely sure how much you guys understand about it. And I mean, how are you meant to enjoy it if you don’t know what you’re looking at?

(I’m also in the process of illustrating another book so I need to focus on that before August — Aka it’s due date. I’ve put it off long enough that I just want to get it done with before mid July)

small update (so yall know im not dead)

hi hello!

i know it’s been a while since i’ve posted anything here. it’s only been music every now and then and not much in the way of actual updates. so here’s what i got on the itinerary:

- i still need to do the final ask from the AMA. whoever that was, im sorry i havent answered it, i just have some extreme executive dysfunction when it comes to doing that and i could definitely bang that out some afternoon soon lol

- gourmand’s theme is in the works! soon after that it’s survivor and monk. planning this to be an animated series is really fun because i get to flex my musical muscles and make a soundtrack for something i love and i know many others are gonna love too. seeing the nice comments on the songs i’ve made for this AU has been pretty motivating, the only challenge is inspiration. music’s a lot of moving parts and i gotta make sure to balance them all. but i have a pretty good idea for how i want it all to sound, so… get ready for gourmand jazz in the near future.

- i’m in the process of writing what will be the first canon animated material of the series. the story centers around spearmaster and what they were doing before they got warped to the future. it’s part of a prelude project i have in mind for all the non-survivor and monk slugcats, and i’ve been doing quite a bit of mental planning for it all.

- i might do one final redesign/redraw of the ref sheet for all the slugcats. not so much as a design change thing, but more to find a method of being able to draw these characters consistently, because (and you can easily see this from the AMA) i haven’t been able to do that very well! and it helps if i have a ref that more matches my current drawing style, which is why i’ve redone my refs multiple times.

anyways, that’s all! thought you all deserved some sort of update after all this radio silence. TL;DR im working on it!

Oddly enough Jimmy is my favorite here despite old me hating drawing him (and male characters in general). Probably more incoming because I’ve found Nny very fun to draw in different outfits.

I decided to redraw some old crossover fanart from 2018 of underswap and soul eater

This was mostly spurred on due to recently deciding to re watch soul eater while being balls deep in an undertale phase.

I think when I originally drew this I (incorrectly) thought that swap sans and black star and then swap papyrus and soul eater had similar personalities. They very much don’t for the most part, and I assume the off interpretation was due to me only just having stumbled across undertale and it’s various aus at the time. I think in some isolated aspects they might have some similarity, but for the most part are all very different characters. I do however still think that they look super cool in the soul eater outfits so I guess they’re just cosplaying.

If I was to ever actually make a proper crossover au I’d put the characters in as their own selves but altered to fit the world rather than stuffing them into roles that don’t necessarily fit.

I’ve kinda been wanting to revisit this for a few years (at least the last two or three) so I’m glad I finally got around to it.

So today I just drew a whole page of my old character Vanilla Powder Cookie

I was on the page with Snow Fungus, and one of the characters there was Vanilla Powder, with her design seen in the top left there. I was looking at it, and I was like “I’m not sure it makes her look like a proper small child”, and since I’ve been trying to figure out how to make a character look distinctly like a child, I decided to redraw her on a new page just for her

And surprisingly, for once I actually finished one of these

So now I feel like listing some things about her, some of which isn’t exactly new, but I still feel like reiterating

So as you can tell, she’s Pure Vanilla’s daughter, one that he had before he got his Soul Jam and his kingdom was founded. She was a baby or toddler when it was founded, so she spent almost her entire life as the Vanillian princess. In addition, she’s the direct ancestor of the Custard family (though I don’t know what her kid’s name would be). However, she unfortunately is not around during current day, as she was baked up to a thousand years prior to current day, so she crumbled a long time ago. Though she lived a long life and simply died of old age, so things didn’t go that bad for her

Oh, also I feel like I should show the original version of Vanilla Powder, just for posterity

She looks entirely different, I think for the better

The younger version of her is mostly just based on the previous version, with an entirely new outfit. I feel like the outfit looks closer to something a kid would wear, but I’m not sure

Then I decided to finally give her a proper adult redesign, and I think I did quite well, much better than the original

I mostly used this one picture from a development commentary for her outfits

Her three cones were because I wanted to convey her status as the princess in some way. They were originally all next to each other, but I felt like they didn’t look particularly special like that, so I instead but the side two further down on her head. But then they reminded me more of hair clips like what Saiki K has, so now I’ve decided they’re possibly magic things that help her control her magic. And also they come off when she uses it. She probably got them as a teenager

Also her eyes are now brown since it fit better with vanilla extract (aka what I think Pure Vanilla is supposed to be), and also because while she’s the Custard ancestor, she’s from long before them, so she doesn’t have to keep the same blue eye color as them. Also, I’ve now decided that Vanilla Bean, aka my OC that’s Vanilla’s dad, has brown eyes. Though I do wonder if I should have given her blue eyes, to break up all the browns and yellows. That’s what the blue on the page is for

Edit: so I ended up changing her eyes to that blue. It’s not PV’s blue because I didn’t really think his light blue works on her. I think it looks nice

Also in her original design, she was going to have a design that looked ambiguously like she could be a purelily kid, but by this point she’s mostly just based on Pure Vanilla, the hair style’s really the only thing somewhat similar to White Lily

Slightly weird question: so I’ve been following ur blog for a while cus batfam and stuff but whenever I see ur blog I have this association with Oikawa from Haikyuu (specifically fan art) and I just wanted to ask if you posted Oikawa fanart previously or if I’m just gaslighting myself again 💀

I have drawn Oikawa once before but I'd be really surprised if anyone remembers it as it was back when I was posting mainly star wars art so you might have just gotten me confused with someone else?

That being said that art was actually a redraw of something I drew in 2016 and since I did that redraw in 2020 felt right since its 2024 now to redraw it again for fun so here's a wee look at how my art has progressed

The Harriet Pinup Art Project

Session 2- Process till completion? But where're the other sessions?? Well that escalated both quickly and slowly

The last report was Early September 2024…. Dear god it’s been almost 7 months since last report. I would’ve like to have split what comes next into 2 more sessions but- it is what it is. This is gonna go all over the place so apologies.

Finding some dissatisfaction with my end result in last-session I tweaked the fish-holding arm and the dangling leg a little bit more to my liking and sketched again.

The nips got finally drawn and with it- the censor will now have to drop to keep tumblr-compliant and also to keep this blog sfw, hope you enjoy the humor (Harriet doesn’t).

The wings kept feeling wrong (looking more stretched and unnaturally tacked on vs being naturally relaxing from her backside) so between struggling wing csp assets to reference (not super great when there are no flipper-esque wings) and some more direct input from a friend I ended up landing on a more natural look.

Linearting

Now for my nemesis- linearting.

Despite my disdain for the process I did not want to half ass it by just cleaning up the sketchwork like I normally do. While I struggle to grasp its use, I really wanted to implement lineweight in my lineart. From what I’ve seen lineweight can be used in a lot of different ways; purely randomly, to emphasize mass, or to emphasize the light source of the piece. Of all the choices I tried to stick to the last option since I felt I could best understand it enough to attempt it.

I also decided to try a feature I’ve never used before; linearting with vector lines instead of rasterized ones. For those who don’t know what the difference is I’ll do the extremely dumbed down explanation; rasterized lineart is more common (I think) and is less memory intensive, vector lines are more common in graphic design (since they can be resized w/o the pixel distortion you can encounter with raster lines). I wanted to try this method in an attempt to make the process of linearting a little less painful; with vectors I can adjust the lineart without having to redraw said line if it’s a small tweak, and changing colours is a lot quicker too.

Sadly during this phase my tablet pen's nib broke in a way that was unfixable (leaving the broken part of the nib DEEP in the pen), and due to pricing (tldr- the pen was more expensive than just replacing the entire tablet, in which case it's better to upgrade altogether if possible) had to wait for a new tablet after researching my best choice for a replacement; definitely was a great upgrade but GOD I did not like that happening when it did. Upon a friend’s suggestion I adjusted pen sensitivity so I could try to avoid putting so much force on the pen when doing the thicker lines.

I think I’ve grown a little more confidence on linearting, but it’s still far from my favourite step. I both enjoyed and hated the process of using vectors for the lineart. I felt like there’s probably a lot more I could’ve done with the vectors than what I was doing, but in my opinion it is not that bad for someone jumping in with very minimal knowledge/understanding.

Colouring/Shading

Being colouring is one of my favourite steps I couldn’t resist I rushed right into it. Though I actually ended up doing the shading before the colouring this time. I did the method I’ve heard/seen for digital artists where you block the subject with just black/dark, and then erase it off where the lighting/highlights would be. I’ll say I definitely found this method put more strength into my shading from usual.

Then I rushed to colouring Harriet herself. Just did the ol-colour picker from her refsheet to throw her colours on, then did some adjustments to colour her nipples and tanlines (cause I WANTED DEM TANLINES!!!!!) though I tried to not make the latter too bold of a contrast since she imo has darker skin and not just tanned.

Then from there there was colouring the background and mast and just wrestling the colour balance and blends, there was a lot of it so I’m just gonna share one of the ones I went through.

At one point I even took a sunset from google and maxed its size on the background (and crashed CSP as a consequence due to the large image resolution- which lead to me shrinking the canvas/image during this process) to try to help me get an idea of what I MIGHT want to do for the background.

Clouds 💢

After a point I started trying to make my own clouds- the first attempt wasn’t too bad save for the tiny little problem that was the brush made the clouds look wayyy too sharp and grainy on closer inspection so had to scrap them and try again, even going as far as looking at irl clouds to try to get an idea of how to emulate them.

I ended up using a generic soft brush and tried my best to do clouds again. It was okay, but not great and kept getting adjusted between other steps. fortunately we’ll better revisit/redux on these clouds far later in the chain-of-events.

Like the clouds I has having problems getting the nice folds look for the sails, grabbed some refs and kept trying to get it right. The results are far from perfection but they are sufficient. Folds on this sort gonna be a pain in general.

Clothes roughs

I did some rough draw-ups of different alternative outfits for her to wear. After a lot of wrestling I settled on her just wearing an opened poet’s shirt and the other two ideas got discarded.

Added a bi-colour bra to make it that I don't have there's a variant that I can share in sfw spaces, and then I lined and coloured the rest of it up, only to stumble into an unfortunate realization-

Ew that went wrong for clothes- reference and redo

With extreme dissatisfaction I ended up trying to tackle them again; I learned the term for the kind of shirt I was after (poet’s shirt, that way it also reduced the amount of AI messing with my results), got several reference photos then tried again while trying to mimic what I was seeing.

MUCH better.

Clouds redo

With that, let’s get the clouds looking better. I checked this tutorial to try to get a better idea, and found some cloud brushes that are in Official CSP but weren’t downloaded thanks to another tutorial and used them, used them then used the tutorial to help further elevate them a little bit. To further elevate said clouds I hilariously used my previous crummy clouds as a overlay to help the new clouds pop. Much better, and with that it’s done, slap dat signature and watermarks! Ready to throw onto the internets

Personal Evaluation on this project

This project ended up taking much longer than I wanted; Some of it was due to real life kicking my butt, and some of it was from clumsy planning and impulsiveness to get to certain steps quicker.

I liked it taking longer cause it gave me more time to think about certain steps and chisel away at parts when I had time, like working on a super large puzzle. On the opposite end it ended up making me much more intimate with the flaws with the piece/project than I’d like to be during the process, since most artists nowadays including myself tend to hit that stage after they’ve completed and posted a work online.

This lead to a lot of times asking “am I gonna shrug off this flaw or go through the time/trouble to redo a part to make it better?” For the case of the clouds and clothes, yes I felt the redo was necessary and it helped strengthen the overall piece, but there were many other flaws I chose to ignore cause I was too far into it to be worth the backtrack.

The biggest example flaw is ironically the anatomy/perspective when sketching Harriet’s body; while using the 3D tool was very helpful, I feel I should’ve did more perspective exaggeration for certain parts of her body (the biggest case being her hands; they imo would’ve looked much better if I made them and her fingers a little bit bigger and chonkier). Another case were the folded sails of the ship that I feel could’ve been better shaped and the folds could’ve been more sensible, ironic for me to say considering I had done several references and do-overs for that part of the piece. Conversely there are probably still various flaws in the lineart itself; despite the convenience of being able to edit the lineart via the vector points it is still a lot of nitpicking if you don’t decide that it’d be better to just move on so long as the idea is brought across via the art, flaws be damned.

When it came to the clothes stage, in my opinion I should’ve done that LONG before colouring/shading Harriet’s body and back when I had just finished the lineart, as it would’ve lead to less visual confusion for my eyes when I had to sketch the clothes out. Some ofher steps were out of order enough to cause confusion to myself, but I won’t bash myself about it since this is probably the first piece I’ve worked on that’s taken this long, plus this winter alone has been very mentally taxing so dumb decisions are bound to happen thanks to that.

That being said, I’m glad I did this project. I got to experiment and test out strategies and tools I’ve never even considered delving into before, and I may even end up using some of them again. There were even some points in this project where said tools I just thought “well this could be handy for [this group of drawing ideas]”. It’s also lead to beautiful results and is probably my biggest high effort piece I’ve done in a long time, probably rivaling if not outclassing some of my bigger pieces that I still admire today from back in my highschool days.

Hearing from one friend talk about the flow of the piece made me happy since, despite never mentioning it during the journaling of this project, that it was something in the back of my mind on/off while working on this piece; the flow of the ladder and clouds all intentionally despite to try to point the eyes of the audience towards Harriet who’s meant to be the main feature of the piece. It really proves that considering flow is a vital element when you want to make a piece work.

I may actually try to print one of the several variants as a print to put on my wall. Not that I will hold my breath on the results as my track record of digital-to-print for my artworks has always been a hard hit/miss for results.

I haven't tried to draw Miguel in a while, and I'll definitely redraw it in the future, but here is a sneak peak of what my Miguel may look like.

I struggled so, so much with his features, you have no idea. Seeing him in 2D was... different. I had to learn to love him, but after closing my lap and then coming back to it after a break, I just couldn't stop thinking about how cute it had turned out! Especially the eyes, which were the most difficult part.

Now I just want to kiss his forehead! Look at him! He looks so soft, I can't

Also, I finally caught up with your story and ??? The most beautiful fic I've ever read for sure. I'm literally defending fanfiction as a literature genre with your story. Catching up was in my to do list alongside reading The Player (Fyodor Dostoyevski). I swear to you, I was skeptical of fanfic being an actual genre before because I grew up reading "classics" and I didn't have much exposure to more recent literature up until a few years ago. Most of the things I read in my free time are still at least a century old, but now, thanks to you, I'm the most avid defender of fanfic among my friends. I even used to be shy or even ashamed of saying I read fanfiction, but now, every time someone mentions Miguel O'Hara, I speak about this fanfic I've been obsessed with and how it's long enough to rival published novels. I even have a top of favorites moments of Miguel being vulnerable in your fanfic that made me say :

And I understand what you mean 🥲 I drew other things before because I used to do bullet journaling when I was in school, but Miguel gave me the urge to want to learn how to draw people so I could draw him (his chokehold on me is unreal), but omg… This man is so HARD to draw! And, his eyes especially are one of the hardest (and beautiful) aspects to draw!

I know there’s people who have their personal opinions, which they’re entitled to, but what I don’t agree with it is how some people look down on it as if it’s the worst thing to exist when there are fanfics 100 times better than published books, like modern fiction books that get a lot of hype with not only bad writing, but also problematic elements. Are you going to continue your comic Finch in the Window on webtoon at any point? I’ve been wondering for a while, it’s totally okay if you dropped it but I’m just curious

I'm actually going to redraw the comic,but formatted for Tumblr instead :) I found the format and the schedule to be a little too overwhelming, but I really do want to try again with the story!
