Block Tales FAKE Shedletsky Theory

WARNING DEMO 4 SPOILERS

So has anyone else feels like Shedletsky acts suspicious? I had my doubts before, but now after playing Demo 4 they've got stronger.

First, he doesn't tell us that touching Ghostwalker will kill us. We learn about it from Kitchen Wizard. Why wouldn't Shedletskys tell us about this important detail? Considering he warned Mayor Thaniyel about 'Builderman'. Why he didn't warn us about it? Unless he wanted us to touch it, to interact with hatred, to kill our emotions.

And as he said it in Demo 4, Shedletsky managed to contact with the other guardians. Why couldn't he just tell them to bring the swords to him?

Also at the beginning of Demo 4 he said whe should get ourselves an explanation team. It makes it seem like he KNEW about the price for obtaining Firebrand. He told us to get ourselves a team so we would be able to sacrifice them for the Firebrand.

Player has no fear anymore (or in really small amount) so we're not afraid of risks anymore. Our goal is to get the SFOTH swords, nothing else.

This might seem crazy but. We have fake 'Builderman' hidden in the swords as VOICES. What if Shedletsky is also a FAKE. While Telamon we saw in Wizard's flashback is the REAL one! Something could've happen and now Telamon is unable to do anything in the living world, only being able to interact with world of undead.

While Fake Shedletsky sends us to get the swords without any warnings so Player's mental health will worsen and Hatred will take control. Or for us to become nothing more than a empty vessel, a weapon for Shedletsky to use.

Also the thing that Builderman got kidnapped in the FUTURE. Since Shedletsky knows about it, I must mean that he's also from the future. Then how come he acts all friendly with everyone in the past. (+ As someone on TikTok mentioned. Shedletsky became Shedletsky in 2012, in 2010 he was still a Telamon.)

Maybe my theory isn't correct. But there's SOMETHING wrong with how Shedletsky acts, and how he keeps important information from us. So I'm keeping an eye on him.

Soo...the story begins with Tribunal Donnie woke up early in the morning, feeling like he's slowly recovering from his Tribunal fever and he needed to soak himself a warm bath at The Dragon's Breath open air hot springs. Donnie took his towel and went to the location, he met Leo during his exercise or sparring outside the house.

Leo: "Oh...morning, Donnie..? So how's your condition..??"

Donnie: "Morning, Leo! I am feeling muuuchh better...now I am feeling to take a warm bath..."

Leo: "That's great! Yeah, um...bath...?? At the lake...?"

Donnie: "No, at the The Dragon's Breath open air hot springs...you know, that one place which dad once told us when we were kids. Dad used to bath there-"

Leo: "Eermm, yeaaahh..,um, Donnie, the bath...I've been meaning to tell you there's already-"

Donnie: "Oh! The monkeys...?? At the hot springs...? Don't worry, Leo! It's just monkeys, its not like I am afraid of them or bathing together with monkeys. See you!" *walking away past Leo and waving his right hand

Leo: //oh greaat....jussttt great...he won't let me finish my words// *facepalm

TIME SKIP...at the Dragon's Breath open air hot springs.

Knightess April: "Oooohhh...!! This feels great! This is exactly what I needed after the tiresome sparring...maann, I am feeling so sooorrreee~" *dipping herself in the hot springs, playing with the waters "Anndd lucky mee...to come here first in the morning, feels like the hot springs belongs to me ^^"

Suddenly, she hears footsteps coming on the right side and she turns her head to the right, despite the thick hot springs steams....she found Donnie standing, freezes, sweating profusely and blushing hard and his purple Tribunal markings glowing brighter than ever.

Donnie: "WHA....😨😨😨" 404 donnie error *sweating //definitely not a monkey skinny-dipping!??//

(do not blame him, in my TMNT Fantasy AU, let's just say Tribunal Donnie here has never seen a half naked female human knight, skinny-dipping in the hot springs before...soo...uhm...yeah, I made it that way!)

April just blinks at him and feeling unbothered (eheheh hahahaha XD)

What did you think of the first phase of the WCU?

Hmmm, you know what. I'm reviewing it.

First of all Dragon from 2008, the movie that started it all.

I liked:

●Seeing her origin, how newfoundland fell and her sheer sense of powerlessness before triggering.

●The evolution from her first crude suit to a more regined dragon armor.

●I liked RDJ as Collin, i was very happed they picked up his stinger for the sequel.

●Teacher was a pretty good villain, hapoy they didn't kill him off.

What i didn't like:

●Gwynnet Paltrow's character was unnecesary, why would dragon need a secretary???

●It doesn't get how to make you feel stakes when the protag is an IA

●Terrence Howard as Rennick is just there, and how they changed the actor in the next film left a sour taste.

Then you have Lung: Dragon of Kyushu.

What can i say that hasn't been said yet? I was skeptic for them reimagining Lung as a hero but it just works.

I like how it set up Leviathan as the overarching villain of the phase, i like how it has that runaway vibe with Kenta running from the Yangban.

The CGI of his fight against Seven was pasable, and the post credit scene with Zero planning to hunt him down went nowhere. But idc, it was overall pretty good. 9/10

I would have killed for another Lung movie.

The ugly duckling of Phase 1, Dragon 2.

I honestly liked it more than the first one, Saint and the dragon slayers are an actual threat that works.

Dragons own issues with her nature are explored in a neat way.

I liked the teacher plot twist at the end, that he had been manipulating saint.

And please tell me the scene of Dragon and Armsmaster killing the Dragonslayers didn't fuck.

8/10, fun watch.

Theo my beloved. Golem fucked so much man.

A coming of age story about a young man leaving his nazi family behind.

It kind of gets completely interrumpted by the Slaughterhouse nine tbh.

Like i get you are building up a cinematic universe but having some guy show up, say "i will come back on a couple years and kill everybody and thats on you" and fuck off wasn't terribly great.

But the final fight against Hookwolf as a middlepoint between the nazi family subplot and the slaughterhouse 9 subplot worked.

I don't like flashback movies in big cinematic universes. Sometimes they feel like they don't mean a thing on the long term because most characters are dead so they won't affect that comes later.

Miss Millitia: the first ward shutted me up.

Hanah is a fucking great protagonist, all of the first wards are great.

I loved her bromance with mouse protector, i cried when she died.

What the fuck is Hugo Weaving playing Allfather????

Overall i feel like this is the best out of the Phase.

Leviathan was pretty built up from Lung and Dragon so it felt like it worked. Jack felt pretty tacked on tbh.

I like how it sets up Scion as this cameo total force of good that can't affect the plot. Wonder what they will do with him.

I didn't like that Collin set a fucking nuke towards new york. I hope there are consecuences for this in the future.

Liked how director Armstrong got to assemble the tram through the movies.

I don't know how to feel about Blue Flechette, apparently her first costume in the comics was like that? Idk.

Scarlett Johansen as Queen aka Emily Piggot from the PRT was cool.

Honestly that what Protectorate is. Cool.

Even if that bastard Jack escaped at the end of the movie.

Timeline Implications

I'm a timeline nerd, so one of the first things I tend to become intrigued by is when hard dates are introduced into a series.

In AvA11, we get a ton of new ones (for Victim), but there's one that stuck out to me as...confusing.

2011?

2007 to 20...11?

Now, this might not seem so strange at first glance, if it wasn't for the event that is about to happen:

Dark and Chosen's attack on Newgrounds.

Why is this weird?

Because Dark and Chosen only escape Alan's pc on October 2, 2011.

And the Flashback shows them attacking three other things before they attack Newgrounds.

It's always been the assumption of the fandom that these attacks happened over the ~7 year interim between AvA3 and AvA Season 2 (which all happens on August 18, 2018.) IE: these four attacks were spread out over years.

But this isn't what AvA11 is saying.

It is saying that the Newgrounds attack (and probably all of them if they were in chronological order, but specifically Newgrounds) happened somewhere between October 2 and December 31st 2011.

A timespan of 2 months and 29 days, MAX.

It's strange, isn't it?

The Flashback had been the setup for why Chosen had a change of heart, as well as showing Dark just going off the fucking rails into becoming a murderous psychopath. It's weird that those two things would happen so quickly.

And leave literally YEARS worth of time they spent together a complete mystery. What in the hell were they doing, between 2012 and 2018, if they've already had their Establishing Character Events???

They were together that entire time. They're living together. Are there more attacks The Flashback just didn't show?

Or was the Flashback not entirely what we thought it was...?

There is a clear disconnect, between the Newgrounds scene in the Flashback, and the Newgrounds scene in AvA11:

Not once is Chosen shown doing what he, supposedly, did in the Flashback. Meaning the events of the Flashback might not be entirely accurate to what actually happened, but more like Chosen's FEELINGS towards them. Or perhaps what HE interprets his own actions to have been like, a perspective that isn't accurate to how things looked from the outside.

The Flashback is, ultimately, showing Chosen's own recollected memories, memories that could be tainted and flawed by his own emotions and regrets at the time we're seeing them.

Chosen could be an unreliable narrator, of sorts.

Could this imply that the Newgrounds attack isn't actually the final straw for Chosen's own character change that we thought it was? Was it just a large enough event that affected him, opened his eyes to Dark's nature, that it was one of the ones he was remembering on the way back to the Outernet?

None of this really helps to explain anything about the timeline.

It doesn't make sense, for the Newgrounds attack to happen at the end of 2011, with Dark doing virtually NOTHING until 2018. Not for his character, which is shown reveling in destruction, who enjoyed attacking websites. He likes to destroy shit and cause chaos for the hell of it. He's an evil little bastard. He wouldn't just sit around twiddling his thumbs for 6 and a half years, no matter how nicely Chosen asked him to, and it did NOT take him that long to make the Virabots either.

[And that's something that's grinded my gears for years, why did Dark target Alan again after so many years??? Him sending the virabot to his PC just seems so out of the blue.]

There has to be more we haven't seen. There are far too many unanswered questions, about BOTH OF THEM, between the Newgrounds attack and the creation of the Virabot.

Was the Newgrounds attack instead the BEGINNING of Chosen's change of heart, not the end of it?

Or...

Was there more than one Newgrounds attack?

Did Chosen and Dark target certain popular websites, repeatedly?

That absolutely sounds like something Dark would do. It sounds like something Dark would ENJOY doing.

I don't know. There's so many unanswered questions with Dark and Chosen, it's hard to put the peices together. Especially now, when so many things keep tying back to Chosen and Dark's past. Mostly Dark. Because he's the bastard who keeps starting shit that somehow ends up getting Chosen into trouble.

Did they even go to the Outernet after they escaped? Or did they just jump right into destroying stuff?

They were clearly very satisfied with themselves after destroying Alan's PC, so why would they stop there?

Why wouldn't they ride the internet webstrings to Yahoo and blow it to smithereens? (Also Alan are you okay, you've targeted Yahoo like three times now, what did it do to hurt you?) Why not go destroy Angry Birds? Why not attack StickPage?

Why not Newgrounds, a website that Chosen must have known was a favorite of Alan's, considering he was used as a popup blocker for Alan's INTERNET BROWSER.

They could have absolutely just went on a rampage immediately after escaping. Four massive things attacked and nearly completely destroyed, in a single afternoon. Not even a single day, it was already 3:39 pm when they destroyed Alan's PC.

That's why I think 2011 was chosen in the episode, and not a much more reasonable 2012 or beyond. No significant event happened in 2012, and the date was clearly meant to induce a foreboding feeling into the viewers who KNOW the timeline. 2011 is significant to Dark and Chosen's part of the timeline. There was no other date they could have used, not until the entirety of Season 2 itself.

AvA11 has filled a TON of holes in Victim's story and in the lore as a whole, but it's also left us with a TON more questions about Chosen and Dark's histories, and their place in the overarching narrative.

Hopefully, one day we'll get some answers to these questions just like we did for Victim.

And maybe Chosen can get some fucking character development, like holy shit, literally every other hollow head's got hobbies and interests but my boi doesn't. Get him some personality, please.

A Long-Ass Post On Nat's Music Taste (Biblically Accurate)

I have thought about Yellowjackets + music a very normal amount which is why I have this imperfect and probably non-exhaustive but hopefully canon-accurate list of all the music we know Natalie Scatorccio likes (with reference photos.)

There will probably be a pt 2 with some of my own actual thoughts or a Nat-specific soundtrack rant but I imagine this one could be helpful to writers or smthing so I'm posting it as is.

'Crawford Mix' - the 1st Crawford that came to my mind here is the music journalist Scott Crawford who wrote and directed Something Better Change, a documentary about D.O.A's frontman Joey Shithead, amongst other things. In the 80s-90s he covered the Washington, DC punk scene; maybe Nat is an avid Metrozine reader and made a tape based on Crawford's recs? Music nerd Nat confirmation or does someone else have a less convoluted take?

'Fine Young Cannibals' - This definitely has some double meaning esp since it's p different from her other stuff

Dinosaur Jr. - Without A Sound. It's blurry as hell but imo the layout + colors are a perfect match. Also: methinks this is a strong contender for Nat's fave album/artist; it's the only tape that doesn't look self-made and in the 1x04 flashback Nat and Kevyn Tan listen to 'Feel the Pain' (the album's opener) and he tries to impress her by claiming that Kurt Cobain wanted J Mascis (Dinosaur Jr.'s singer-guitarist) to join Nirvana (it's true btw)

'Mix For Nat' (this is the mixtape made by Kevyn that Nat retrieves in 1x04; the connect-the-dots-Os match)

'The Gathering' They've undergone a few genre chances since but the Gathering of 1990s was a metal band

You and Kyle broke up, and it's not because you don't get along, on the contrary. You just realized that you don't feel that attraction, that feeling that should really bind two people; you look good together, you have a lot in common, you love each other a lot, but it's not love. You're sure of it.

You confided this only to Tommy who was happy that your story was over so there was still hope, to quote his words. You shook your head and told him that his brother sees you as a friend and therefore not to count too much on a possible flame between you and Joel. He shrugged and hugged you and said, "Hope is always the last to die."

"Let's forget it, I'm going to work." You tell him. "You can't live on hope." You add, winking at him.

MARCH 2014

You open your eyes with a start, waking up with the phrase, "You can't live on hope," echoing in your head. You are in the middle of nowhere, Joel prepared a fire with your help where he then remained on guard, while you went to sleep in the back seat of a jeep you found abandoned on the side of a road.

It's very cold despite your coat and the blankets you brought with you from that house. For a while you stay under the covers watching the man who is adding more wood to the fire, you close your eyes and for a few moments you seem to see him wearing a blue suit, you can almost hear him thundering orders. Who knows if the Joel of some time ago was really like this, if something is coming back to your memory or if it’s just all in your head!

There are so many things that are still not at all clear to you in his tone of voice, in his looks, in his words. It's as if he were hiding something from you. You don't know exactly what it is, whether it's more bad news that he doesn't have the courage to tell you or whether you're losing your mind trying to remember something that doesn't seem to be in your head anymore.

You decide to stop wondering for now, you don't know if you're really ready to know the truth. A part of you fears it. You don't know what you can really expect from your past, you feel that they are not just good memories.

You get out of the car being careful not to make too much noise with the car door, as soon as you put your feet in the mud under your feet, Joel turns to you, he looks very tired and has a slight pallor on his cheeks. Without saying much, you pass him your blanket, placing it over his shoulders. He gives you an initially annoyed look, but slowly becomes grateful for your gesture.

“How are you?” you ask, sitting down next to him.

"I'm the one who should be asking you that." He states with a slight huff. "Well, anyway. It was just a scratch." He adds, "And you?"

"My head doesn't hurt anymore. I just feel a little dizzy, but it's less frequent." You answer him, rubbing your hands together near the crackling fire.

He nods, "And memory?" he asks, looking at your face.

You sigh, "Part of me wants to remember, wants to do so with all my heart, but there's another part that thinks it's probably best to leave things as they are. I mean, we live in an already broken world and I don't want to have to endure further trauma and pain." you answer almost in one breath, then look down "The truth is I'm scared." you admit staring into the flames "I don't know what's waiting for me."

Joel lingers on your face for a while before returning to the flames, "Not all memories are necessarily bad, you know?" you look at his face and observe his tanned skin turned orange by the flames "You, me and my brother worked together. We were inseparable. I was almost.." for a moment Joel doesn't speak, you don't know whether to press him or wait, you decide not to insist and wait for him to continue "jealous." finally he says and then moves his eyes to you who instead makes them wander towards the woods surrounding you.

You're scared. You are afraid of the world you live in, of never being able to find yourself again and reconcile who you were with who you are today, you are afraid of never finding a purpose again, nothing that can make you feel better.

You decide to push him a little despite your fears, "Why were you jealous? I mean, we were... Um, was there something going on between us that I don't remember?" your heart is in your throat when you look up at his face and meet his dark eyes that seem to be clouded with sadness.

You see him tighten his lips and look down at the fire, with an indecipherable expression on his face as if he were fighting a silent war with himself.

"Joel?" you get his attention. "Please answer me. I deserve to know. It’s my past too."

You see his nostrils flare and then narrow as he breathes deeply, "We were together." he finally answers you and you don't know what to think or what to ask him "Until I ruined everything." he adds leaving you completely speechless and empty-headed.

Were you two together?! Did he ruin everything? But all what? How, why?

You can't put any order to the questions that suddenly compete to be asked, but then there's something else that holds you back: fear. Fear of not knowing the full extent of what drove you to separate, fear of learning something that right now you wouldn't even know how to handle, fear of feeling lost before the truth.

"Why didn't you tell me right away that we were together?" you ask him, now having trouble looking at him.

"If I hadn't told you, maybe... we could both forget what happened." He answers you in a low voice.

You can't comment on his words. You think it's something really serious and terrible if Joel himself wants to forget what happened. You suddenly wonder who the man is with whom you are traveling. You think that he's probably also telling you a lie about the destination you are going to. If you hadn't seen those monstrous creatures yourself and hadn't seen the world as it is now, perhaps you would have even doubted his words.

You're cold, you have a strange anguish gripping your stomach.

Now, more than before, you are afraid to remember.

From that point on, you and Joel barely spoke to each other, mostly answering him in monosyllables or with fleeting nods.

You continued on foot passing through a forest invaded by ferns, the trees are tall and their tops thick, the sun filters through only in that place making it extremely cold and humid. The man looked at you and asked if you were cold, but without even looking at him you replied, "'m fine." and continued on past him.

A part of you struggles to put aside some of the truth that Joel finally revealed to you, but the other part of you wonders what could have happened to end your relationship.

Were you happy before? Have you made love? Were you planning something together as a family, a house together?

You're cold now, but you keep going. Head down, you keep walking, you have no idea why you feel so dizzy. You just know that maybe you should know the whole truth and not just the end.

Are you ready to listen to it? No, but you're tired of not knowing.

"Joel?" you call him when you've been silent for almost a couple of hours. He looks tired, his expression strained, his eyes darkened, his beard longer, "I want to know the reason why we broke up."

He shakes his head, "No." He replies, stopping and looking straight into your eyes. "I'll tell you about the good times before and then... the end. I can't tell you everything from the end of the story."

You swallow, but then find yourself simply saying, "Okay. I'm listening."

At that moment a shot pierces the air making you jump, you don't know exactly where that noise comes from, but it's followed by others, your heart is pounding in your chest and for the first time in hours you look up at Joel but he doesn't look back at you, instead he grabs your hand and drags you with him. You run as fast as your muscles can, when you catch sight of a small group of houses, "There! Look over there!" you shout, pointing out some villas.

"Come on, move!" he urges you, pointing with his chin to the first house with a sloping roof.

When you arrive, the first thing you notice is the extremely unkempt grass and the trees surrounding it are bare and unfruitful, then you notice the fences typical of construction sites that warn you to be careful of falling materials from above and therefore to stay away from the scaffolding. So, you notice that there are some tiles missing from the roof and therefore it's likely that it has also rained inside. The windows were broken from the inside as there are pieces of glass on the outside.

You look for Joel's gaze but he looks around cautiously, he's not worried about the conditions of the house but about your safety and survival. It's not safe to venture in there, but apparently it's not safe to stay out either.

With some hesitation, you climb over the barriers and continue on. The door has been torn off so only the jamb remains. Joel squeezes your hand lightly as if to help you recover from that state of agitation and fear, you know he has it too, but he manages to hide it much better than you. You nod as if to reassure him that you're there and ready for anything, even if, actually, you're not.

You cross the door and immediately the very unpleasant smell of humidity combined with that of paint invades your nostrils, almost causing you to feel nauseous, you cough as you lean forward toward an unfinished wall whose bricks are still clearly visible.

“Hey, hey, hey,” Joel says, holding your shoulder and wrapping his other arm around your hip.

"I'm fine. I just ran too much and then... this smell bothers me." you say closing your eyes and swallowing back the bile.

"The paint, I know." he says. "You've always been amazing at designing, but when you came to the construction site..." you hear him chuckle "you barely stayed there five minutes and as soon as you entered you put on a mask to cover your nose and mouth." he almost smiles at those memories.

“Really?” you ask, noticing his reaction to memories you no longer have.

"Yes." he sighs. "Listen, I'll tell you everything, but not now, not under these circumstances, little one." He continues, stroking your back.

Little one.. was that what he called you?

Did he use this sweet nickname with you?

Did you like it?

Did you have one for him too?

And did he like it?

You nod, taking small breaths and then taking small sips of water, which helps control the nausea you feel. Once you've regained control, you stand up straight and look around, "Well, let's see if any rooms are finished or if we should move on." you say in a low voice, turning on the flashlight, as does the man next to you. In the room there are pieces of furniture such as chairs, tables, sofas covered with white tarpaulins, as if someone had started living there despite the ongoing construction work.

Joel discovers a couch, raising a cloud of dust, "Well, this looks like it's comfy!" he exclaims.

You grumble as you continue on, you find the kitchen, it's fully furnished, but you find nothing but a bottle of water and some packets of crackers that you promptly put in your backpack.

Joel is just behind you, he too is looking around, "I hope this isn't a house from my company!" he exclaims.

"Your company?!" you ask, turning your head towards him.

"Yes, my brother and I had a business together." he replies.

“Did we get along?” you ask him again.

He nods, "You were very good. You always knew how to make something happen, even after sleepless nights, the next day you were able to bring great projects to life." you find yourself smiling "Charlotte hated you for that too!"

"Charlotte?" you repeat, but her name doesn't sound new to you at all when it comes from your lips.

"Oh, fuck." Joel blurts out, pointing the flashlight a short distance away from you. You turn around and see fresh blood on the ground. Joel quickly reaches you, passing you and pointing his rifle forward.

“What are we doing?” you whisper under your breath.

"Let's go away, in silence."

When you're about to turn around, you hear something slithering and then it makes those noises. Your blood freezes in your veins and you become paralyzed, Joel pulls you away by the arm making you hide just in time behind a kitchen cabinet when one of those things appears from the darkness. You just lift your head to see them and you realize that it's one of those things you've already seen in the hospital, now what do you do?

You're both on all fours and hiding back there, but you have to get out somehow. Joel gets your attention with his eyes and mouths they're blind, you nod even though the news doesn't reassure you in the least. He makes the gesture with the flashlight and you slowly sneak out of the room, you're almost back in the entry room when you place your hand on a piece of glass and let out a little scream, Joel turns with a terrified expression behind you, as you hear the sound of that thing approaching. You cut yourself, but this is not the time to think about it, you know you are about to die because that monster is approaching and you don't know how to escape it except by running, but your body seems not to respond to your will. Joel picks up a rock from a short distance away and, before you get face to face with that monster, throws it in a direction diametrically opposite to yours. The hideous creature stops a couple of steps away from you and then heads towards the stone Joel threw.

You can breathe a sigh of relief, you get up and can silently walk away, you are almost outside when something else catches your attention: the corpse of a man. He's dead, he has a gun in his hand, his shirt full of blood, his mouth twisted into a grotesque expression.

"Let's go." Joel says, moving to walk away, but you remain there. It's not the man's expression that troubles you, but his shirt. Blood dripped profusely across it.

"I'm scared." You can almost hear yourself say, "Joel! Joel! Help!"

Joel pulls you away this time and succeeds, you are out now and you quickly climb over the fence, moving away from that house again and returning to the woods. You are troubled, you are cold and a new terrible question is making its way inside you. Your path is fortunately calm, but that question is creeping deep inside you. It's almost dusk when you take refuge in a heavily looted gas station, there's no one there and no one has been there for a long, long time so at least for tonight you're safe.

After you make sure that nothing and no one is around, you sit down to rest a bit and at that time, Joel disinfects your wound. Your eyes often meet, you wonder how or what you will do from tomorrow, you wonder who you were in the past and if you will ever be able to reconcile who you were with who you are today.

Everything seems calm. However, you decide not to light any fires to avoid attracting the attention of anyone nearby, you are both wrapped in blankets. You try not to chatter your teeth, but at a certain point it becomes unavoidable and Joel approaches you, surrounding you and him with another blanket, now you are next to each other.

"Joel?"

"Mh?"

"Were we happy before... before it all ended? Before you and I broke up?" you ask him "I know it's stupid because... you know, usually when you break up with someone it's because you're not happy, but I'd like to know more," you add, sniffling in the cold.

"We were. So much. I was very happy with you. And you with me. We had everything." He sighs, "We could have had it."

"But then why?" you ask him.

He looks at you with eyes full of sadness and regret, "I cheated on you."

You stare into space before you then look up at him with a puzzled expression, "Why?" you should feel anger, pain, but the truth is you don't feel anything, you don't know how to feel. You're just so confused.

He nervously clenches his hands and you, as if moved by invisible threads of a distant and perhaps not entirely erased memory, reach out and slip your hand between his. You frown in surprise at the gesture and Joel also seems shocked because he looks up at you with his lips parted in amazement.

"I - I dunno - I don't know why I did it." You say, pulling your hand away from his.

Instead he holds it back, warming your cold hand, "It's something we always did." He says in a low, bitter tone of voice. "It was your way of calming my nerves after a hard day at work. You sat next to me and, you didn't even have to ask me if I had a good or bad day, you rested your head on my shoulder in silence." he tells you.

"You could see it all over your face what you were feeling." It's meant to be a question, but it comes out of your mouth like a fact, like something you're sure of.

He nods rubbing your hand between his to warm it, both of you looking at your joined hands for a while.

"Did we always do this too?"

He smiles, nods weakly, "I'd like to tell you everything... do you want to listen?"

You swallow, “Okay.”

Misc. ideas and thoughts about Journals 1 & 2, as inspired by Forduary this year

I have too much going on to participate, but I really like the Forduary prompts this year!

Journal 3 has some things that help with inventing both Journals 1 and 2, I think.

Isn't it weird that gnomes and various other creatures are in Journal 3 instead of Journal 1, when it just feels like Ford would have met them 6 years ago when he first arrived to Gravity Falls? Like, did it really take six years before he wrote about or saw gnomes? Who knows, maybe! However you want to imagine it. I think Journal 3 itself can be used for examples of Journal 1, or you can work backwards from Journal 3 to invent more of what the landscape was like for Ford when he arrived here and was first getting his footing. Journal 3 has various bits looking back at his earlier years, like about his house being built iirc and Steve, so I think there is likely overlap with Journal 1 (and 2) already.

Journal 1 sounds fun as a novice Ford being awestruck by so many things for the first time, and trying as many experiments as he can, and having all kinds of inexperienced clumsy missteps. He traced this town as a big home of anomalies and now he is actually here, and beginning his dream on his own, fresh out of college! And there's all the locals to meet for the first time. Was it overwhelming in the best way possible that everywhere he looked there was just more and more and it felt impossible to possibly study it all? Were his first years really social while he tried interviewing everyone, before falling into his eventual status as a recluse who doesn't really connect with them, before he realized how lonely he was, or maybe he pushed through all of his negative feelings because there was so much that was exciting to focus on instead? Were there more weird holidays like Summerween that don't exist in 2012? Or, even, did Ford witness the very first year of Summerween? What are some local mysteries and ghost stories? Did he meet more of the parents of individuals we know about in 2012?

Were Ford's first notes a mess that he had to go back and reorganize later? Did he have to figure out ways of being better able to draw anomalies when life drawing isn't always an option? What's up with the camera and photos and all those other weird objects in his house in that one flashback scene in ATOTS? How much did Ford have to study and catalogue and take samples of local plants and water before he started noticing weird connections and magical influences? How did he figure out what equipment, tools, machinery, and anomaly specific magic detectors or whatnot that he needed? What was the iterative process like? Did he have a bunch of failed drawings, machines, and samples at the start? Did he hear about the underground weirdness black market and spend a lot of time trying to track it down before realizing how hopeless the endeavor seemed to be? One failure of many he would remember moving forward in his time here, but also exciting fuel to keep learning! Gravity Falls has so much to offer, far too much to stop learning just because of some unanswered mysteries.

I don't recall if Hirsch has ever spoken on the content of Journal 1 but I really think it has a lot of potential as a prompt if you're a little creative! Yeah it isn't super guided but I don't think it's boring at all!

And then Journal 2 is especially extremely super hype imo!! That's the one when he was really throwing himself into researching and learning about spells and magics, including spells he would even carry with him in Journal 3 as useful protective tools on excursions if I'm remembering that correctly. There's so much here that must be related to forest creatures, not to mention the artifacts. Did he catch wind of the Hand Witch or other potential similar individuals? The Love God? Were there more witches and creatures during the 80's than we see in Gravity Falls in 2012? Like how zombie uprisings were a regular monthly occurrence, mentioned in Journal 3, when that clearly chilled out and settled by the time of the show, not to mention the blood rain.

Wizard Ford! Warlock Ford! Ford, the DD&MD dork! Did he learn defensive enchantments? Was he really into useful utility spells instead, like one that keeps himself dry in rain? Or refills his quill ink? What offense might he have liked, or even felt uncomfortable with? Did he practice writing and learning sigils and runes and fae language? Did he sew any into his clothes, or wear any in temporary tattoos or skin paint? Were there things in the library or museum he was able to translate?

Were there other events like that carnival in Journal 3, or weird black magic holidays before such things were wiped from the townsfolks' memories? Was there more visible magic on average back then, and magic interacting with people and vice versa? How did Ford compare his experiences and studies with his beloved stories of fiction, historical reading, myths, and folklore? Did Ford make or find magic rings, pens, wands, hats, clocks? What are some really dumb and silly spells? Did he research how different phases of the moon, weeks in the month, days in the week, or certain hours in a day, or even the weather, influenced any of the rituals or how to acquire materials and items? Did some spells or rituals demand him to sit in pose for 12 hours before activating, and which spells or rituals were more instant or immediate? How about astrology?

This also overlaps with the period of time where Ford knew Bill for like 2 years before the portal was ever proposed, and before Ford had felt himself stuck at a dead end. Ford was still eagerly exploring and researching and practicing like normal, surely with some doubts and difficulties, but I think he was still starry-eyed, too. What was Bill like? How much did Bill help? How much of the stuff in Journal 2 came about from Bill helping Ford with leads, giving him breadcrumbs about things Ford wouldn't have known on his own? What questions did Bill answer, and did Bill tell Ford about any spells outright? Did Bill and Ford hang out working on translating runes together? Did Bill give Ford spells and sigils and all to solve himself like a mentally stimulating puzzle? Is this the period of time where Bill was the most like a practical helpful teacher and friend, and a stronger bridge between Ford and the local weird? Did Ford investigate different ideas about geometry and its relation to religion/spirituality/history/myth?

What potion recipes and ingredients could Ford have found and made and jotted down in Journal 2? The steps and materials needed for rituals? What about notes to be taken on the anomalous and magical properties of random materials and how those interact with mundane technology and science, like hen's teeth, fairy wing dust, certain mushrooms that only grow around fairy circles, silk from weird spiders? Or even how more familiar earthly materials interact with these, like mercury, blood, salt, gold, silver, onyx, honeycomb? What are some local legends and myths? Did Ford use any variety of magical ingredients, ritual, or spell for experiments specifically in his mindscape while he was asleep? Or maybe meditating in a fairy circle?

What offerings did Ford need to learn how to prepare for different creatures, spells, or rituals? Did he have to learn how to bake certain desserts as acceptable offerings? Did he have to make candles and parchment out of custom materials? Did he have to wear clothes of only very certain materials and dyes? If he got on the bad side of very dangerous creatures, or got himself cursed, how did he negotiate with them or figure out how to solve it? Does some magic only work on humans and not the beings of the forest? What experiences did Ford have regarding dreams and the mindscape? What experiments did Ford try? What technology and engineering did he attempt to etch with runes or control magics with? Did he have to lean more into his artistic skills and make sculptures, weave cloth, knit tapestries?

I don't remember if Hirsch has said anything about the contents of Journal 2 either outside of what we see in the show, and it's been a while since I've read Journal 3 to particularly remember what nods it may have had to Ford's pre-Journal 3 experiences. But there's so much potential! It's SO interesting!

I just completely don't relate at all to people who find these prompts boring just because two of the books basically don't exist. And if you don't like what Hirsch has said about them, then don't use or follow what he said? People always want more creativity about Ford's portal adventures and Stan's first acclimation to the weirdness of Gravity Falls after Ford disappeared, yet people are shutting down at the creative opportunity of these prompts.

There's so many different angles you can approach this stuff from, and I think that's a big part of what makes it fun to think about, personally! It is pretty hard to invent where there is nothing or not much guidance, but I think it is truly worth the attempt! There's nothing wrong with looking up secondary prompts if you need them, whether they're past Forduary/Stanuary/Fiddtober/Maybel/Dipcember/Dipril ones or from events like Funguary/Witchtober/Inktober/Mermay! I do really like how Stanuary has a bingo of additional prompts, and I think such a thing would be cool for Forduary too. I notice some previous years did have various extra prompt ideas.

I'm excited to see what people make, especially for Journal 2! Good luck everyone!! :D

Some thoughts on rewatching 8.01 (all what I felt at the time it aired too) about Dean and Cas, and Dean's trauma and Cas's trauma in early S8. Incorporating the long game

"Cas didn't make it. Something happened to him towards the end and he just...let go."

Ironically Dean is telling the truth. Cas is the one who let go. But we also know that Dean doesn't believe that, we know Dean's brain, due to trauma, wrote a narrative for himself where he let go. So he is "lying" (believes he is lying) to Sam about what happened, not ready to talk about what his brain thinks actually happened yet.

And he looks so so sad. His whole demeanor changes when he says "Cas didn't make it." It hurts more than Dean can deal with.

Dean is also very obviously going through PTSD. He freezes in front of the options at the snack machine, and two boys playing throws him into a Purgatory flashback. He describes Purgatory as 360 degree combat.

And we see how much Dean needs to find Cas. "Where's the angel" "First we find the angel"

Still shaking crying throwing up over everything Dean went through, his PTSD, and how much he wanted to save Cas. And while a lot of his PTSD is the combat environment, a lot of his emotional trauma is losing Cas. He stayed a year in Purgatory even after he had a way out, he risked everything, to bring Cas home with him, and then Cas...let go of his hand.

Cas let go and refused to go home with Dean to his own drive to pay penance for all the things he'd done, because Cas, done disassociating, and went warrior of god overboard self-punishing instead. Which is another turn in Cas's PTSD.

And their PTSD is all tangled up together and Cas IS a lot of Dean's emotional trauma, because Cas wants so badly to be good and make up for the things he's done, and it's admirable he wants to face up to what he's done, but he has these oblivious areas where he doesn't get at all how that would hurt Dean. He gets that Dean wants to save him and he feels that, and feels for Dean about that, but thinks he doesn't deserve it, so he plays along and doesn't tell Dean what he's really thinking in Purgatory, goes all the way to the portal with Dean, then pulls his hand away.

Couldn't bear to hurt Dean by saying "no I can't leave" from the jump, but didn't add things up where he realized how much it would hurt Dean to let go of Dean's hand at the last minute. Or think through how deeply it would impact Dean to have to go home without him.

Gosh it's like no time passed at all, it's still Fall of 2012 and I'm crying about Dean and Cas.

He's getting to know Eddie really well while Eddie's out cold.

When he is seventeen Steve Harrington sees Eddie ‘The Freak’ Munson pushed up against the side of the late night convenience store with his hands down another guy’s pants.

Unable to stop thinking about it afterwards, it takes him ten years to work out what that means.

(After his friends come out one by one, Steve settles comfortably into his new role as an ally. He moves to the city, joins groups, attends protests, even signs up to a gender studies class. Then in 1991 Eddie comes crashing back into his life.)

for raph i'm thinking 2007: he's rough around the edges slightly older but yet very bemused by these other versions of his brothers. plus i just think 2007 raph is very cool. 2007 turts don't get enough rep so he's there!

for donnie it'd have to be 2003: he's one of my favourite donnie's and as someone who's already experienced a trans-dimensional turtle universe crossover he brings some knowledge to the table. i also would just think it would funny to see rise leo and 2003 donnie interact based on how vastly different each version of that character is.

and mikey i'm going last ronin. i have a reason for this so just sit tight lol

more under the cut because this gets REALLY long oops

in terms of plot:

so it's set after the events of the rise movie. things on earth are slowly yet surely moving forward; the city is being rebuilt, the turtles have yet another new home to make theirs. casey jr is settling in pretty well into his new family. things are looking up!

leo is still their leader and raph is more than overly proud of how far he's come since the beginning of the movie's events: he's taking things more seriously, he's working hard! to leo's brothers, things are coming back together again. it's all good!

but to leo, not so much. see leo puts on a good face and can act like he's doing better, but deeper down than just that surface level, he's not doing so hot. he's really struggling. he's going through The Works of all of his ptsd and trauma but behind closed doors, mostly because he thinks he's the only one still struggling with the effects of the previous events. casey jr like mentioned, is doing well after everything, and with everyone seemingly moving on, leo feels kind of stupid for how he feels, feeling like he's falling behind and he doesn't know why.

so that's why he's pushing himself pretty hard. trying to throw himself into training and such to 'toughen himself up'. he's maybe a little harder on his brothers as a result which brings up some tensions. im gonna focus on the leo mikey dynamic here because i love me some baja blast but also because this'll be plot relevant later. so maybe they're kicking street gang butt. and mikey is goofing around a little as he does it, mikey-ing it up like he does, and in the midst of the fight, maybe leo has a bit of a flashback, bringing on a panic attack that goes a little unnoticed, and as a result, he lashes out.

he comes down hard on mikey, shouting the odds about maybe being more careful or paying better attention all that jazz, before raph and donnie step in and are like. hey woah. theres no need for that.

leo is still having his ptsd panic attack; it's clouding his judgement and obscuring his thoughts. donnie gets defensive (because hey! they're just teens and they're not perfect at recognising their own and others emotions!) and maybe yells back and leo in his brothers defence.

leo feels like they dont get it! they dont understand what he's going through but feels too ashamed or afraid to ever voice it, so it kind of all bottles up inside and makes him angry and hurt, hence why he's kind of lashing out right now. he's just scared, above all, that he's not like his brothers and they're better at handling their issues than he is, and whether or not that makes him a worthy leader.

this all causes a big fight between him and his brothers (after their beef with the street gang is over btw) and leo goes to storm off, still subtly fighting off the panic attack and goes to portal himself home except... his swords don't take him home.

leo somehow ends up in an entirely different universe. one that feels strangely similar to the prison dimension, panic now dialled up to like a million, he's REALLY not having a good time right now, and as a result, his mystic energy kind of just, waters out and he's struggling to make a portal back home. this just makes him flail even more, and because of it, he fails to see the synjas (because we are in the last ronin verse now baby!) but is saved last second by someone pushing him out of the way.

they take cover, maybe there's a bit of a scuffle between this unknown turtle and the synjas (think SAINW moment where mikey came outta the shadows) because it is in fact 2003 donnie!

leo is completely confused because.. how?! is this donnie?? there's some brief introductions before they go to take shelter and leo is asking like a million questions because he has NO idea whats happening until donnie breaks it down to him after they find a safe place to hide it out.

see, 2003 donnie knows about alternative universes and such (SAINW + turtles through time) so i guess im kind of serving him as a bit of expositional dump here for leo, but also because i think this donnie would be a good match against leo’s panic and fear. he’s really helpful at fielding leo through his attack and gently explains that his leo back at home goes through the same stuff to which rise leo is like. oh great, we’re all pathetic. cue donnie looking sad making that :< face i love lmao. 

so after it’s established that they’re in a different universe, donnie explains that he kind of just woke up here. leo gets a feel that perhaps his mystic energy might have been at play here, so he tells a white lie and is like. oh yeah me too lol how crazy! and feels again, ashamed of himself that he might have done this to poor donnie. 

it’s shown that shredder is now ruling over the city and this is kind of… a bad timeline. donnie doesn’t give too much away but leo can tell he has… ahem. certain experiences with a similar situation but donnie assures him that as long as they stick together they’ll be fine, and if they ended up here somehow, theres probably a way back home too. 

it doesnt take long for the synjas to find them again, a hoard of them this time overpowering leo and donnie and they’re getting their asses kicked something crazy until there’s the sound of a motorbike revving and boom. in comes 2007 raph. 

he doesn’t necessarily save them but him being so badass inspires the others to push a little harder and eventually the three of them escape together. raph has the same questions as leo had, similar situation where he explains he kind of just woke up here.

donnie cant be certain what the reason is as to why they’re here, but is set on figuring it out after they deduct that donnie is, as always, their brains of the team. so whilst they find a place to hide for the night, they get talking. they come to find that with some varying differences, their lives are kind of the same in a sense. 

raph and donnie are breezing through all the shit they’ve been through, listing off The Horrors and again leo is there listening like.. well THEY seem fine! wtf is wrong with me!! and kinda closes himself off because he feels even more stupid now. UGH LEO !!

raph sees this and tries ribbing him a little like. oh classic leo move you think you’re so tough and you’re better than us yada yada just because he wants him to open up (and maybe this raph was raised on a little more tough love than the others) but it doesnt work and leo snaps at him and tensions are now rising. donnie ever the pacifist and peacemaker reminds them that if they wanna get out of this hell hole its gotta be together as a team.

that’s when it’s mentioned that technically, they don't really have a full team.

cutaway to a turtle (who could it possibly be!) standing before the city on like a hill with lightening cracking because. dramatics and whatnot.

the next day, things are still rough and leo hasn’t slept much and maybe donnie is fussing over him, but leo shrugs him off and is like. IM FINE >:( and so donnie gives him some space as the 3 of them head out to go find some info about this universe they’ve found themselves in. 

they end up finding out kind of like the base level info about the last ronin verse, wondering if maybe the turtles exist at all here since they haven’t seen any. 

leo is still brooding and stuff and still festering a bit of guilt when maybe raph is like. man i need to get home to my brothers this place sucks (he has seperation anxiety remember). and maybe donnie is having his own ptsd and leo feels even WORSE because OH. they… they are suffering just as much as he is. oops. 

and then boom they’re attacked again by synjas whom of which overpower them this time and take them to oroku hiroto (grandson of the shredder) who is like. bro what. all these turtles??

so whilst shredder jr jr tries to figure out whats happening here and whats going on, the turtles are put in captivity where leo now kind of just, has a full blown meltdown. he regretfully admits that this was all HIS fault and that he brought them here by mistake and hes just a screw up and and hes nothing like THIER leader leo and he isnt cut out for this!! 

and donnie and raph are like. WOAH!! pause. take a breath. its alright.

leo thinks theyre just being nice out of well. niceness but raph is like, you think my leo is perfect? he left us for months without a word because he was so caught up in his own head because of all the shit he went through, he aint perfect. 

and donnie is like. yeah lol same with my leo tbh.

and then does leo finally start to recognise that he’s not supposed to be perfect. he still however feels like hes miles behind from his brothers in terms with coping with his trauma and donnie is like. UM HELLO? and explains that this whole situation has been messing with his head because of HIS own trauma. raph too, with his separation anxiety, and they both explain that its not a race, and chances were, his brothers back home were probably hiding aspects of it too, like leo is because they’re all just as stupid as each other, through universes. 

leo is like. HUH. okay that makes sense lowkey so thanks but um.. aren’t we about to die :/

shredder comes and is like. yep real BUT THEN!!

enter last ronin mikey. he rocks everyones shit and donnie leo raph are just :O in awe because oh. THERES their little brother lmao

mikey manages to free the others as hiroto escapes when leo is like. where tf were YOU the entire time lmao.

mikey is like. in the shadows, duh, you guys are terrible ninjas. lmao. and now that it’s established that it was leo that brought them here, they believe its up to leo to get them home. 

so since being captured their weapons have been taken away so together they devise a plan to get them back as they run around the shredders lair. chaos and action ensue, imagine them all being very badass and helping one another as they kind of.. like face their fears and stuff that show leo that recovery isn’t perfect and linear and all that:))

there’s also a moment where mikey maybe is with leo and as they catch their breath hes like. oh yeah i overhead what you were worrying about and dude just know that you can only heal when you heal together like dont do it alone. leo then notes that if this is last ronin’s universe then why is he alone and then the penny drops and hes like… oh:(( right

last ronin mikey gives him some real wisdom about how trying to move past your traumas alone sucks, and that he personally doesnt have much of a choice, but rise leo does, much like how 2003 donnie and 2007 raph and all the other versions of the turtles DO. 

he tells him that it started with just them four and in every other universe, it ends with them too. 

cue the emotional swell of music idk lol

they get leos swords as mikey holds back the shredder and now with the power of friendship lmao leo gets his mystic energy working and with some heartfelt goodbyes, sends both donnie and raph back to their homes. leo cant hold the portal open forever and as mikey remains struggling to keep shredder away leo begs him to maybe come with him, where he can find him a better home with a better outcome. 

mikey says something like. ‘nah, kid, this is my destiny. go get your own,’ and then leo either leaves or mikey pushes him through. 

leo ends up back in the lair, stumbling through the portal to his unbothered brothers. to them, he’s maybe only been gone a couple hours. maybe they say something tongue in cheek like. “man, you took your time. what you took a detour to south america/japan to get here?” and then leo just bursts into tears.

all previous tension is GONE and they’re rushing to him like. omg what:(( whats wrong?

he breaks it down to them now that a LOT is wrong and that he was sorry but he’s not coping all that well after the invasion still and thought he could handle it on his own. 

maybe them mikey comes forward and is like. hey. we handle it together or we dont handle it at all. kind of a callback to what ronin mikey told him. cue lots of hugs and warm fuzzy feelings. and thats the end.

SO YEAH. i made this up as i went along. i dunno!! im not big into writing multiverse turtle fics but this was fun to imagine as an episode or like a mini tv movie or something:)) lmk what you thought because i just have a lot of feelings about traumatised turtles going through their shit lmao

Alright, 9-1-1 Bucktommy fans, It's time for my tinfoil hat moment. (this is the only thing keeping me sane rn)

So. Based on 8x06, it's easiest and the least painful to assume that Bucktommy is done for good.

HOWEVER...it is not out of the realm of possibility that those interviews were supposed to hit the way they did and they are really just fucking with us. OS's interview was less than ideal in multiple ways, unfortunately. If we follow with this, there may be a chance for them to get back together. Or if they are well and truly done, the chance for them to have an actual conversation about it. So here is my proposal:

8x07 is "Tommy Begins", set a few months after 8x06. In the present day, there is a multi-alarm emergency where the 217 and 118 are both there. In the flashbacks, we see Tommy in the army, facing indirect homophobia while trying to figure himself out.

Then his time at the 118 with Gerrard as captain, dealing with the same thing from the army. We see him try dating as a gay man, getting his first serious boyfriend circa ~2012-13. And thanks to the idea from @honestlynervousnut, it doesn't go well. It's abusive, manipulative, and when Tommy gets out of it, he tries to bury that part of him for good, associating moving in with a relationship going downhill. Thus enters Abby and the trauma etc.

We see him apologizing to Chim and Hen, and getting settled at the 217 while finally feeling comfortable with himself and his sexuality. Maybe there is another boyfriend or a few dates.

Present Day: The emergency is a nightmare, and it only gets worse when Tommy's helicopter crashes. Buck, despite trying to forget about his pain by sleeping around, still can't forget about Tommy. He's done some growing, some reflecting in there too. He drops what he's doing to run to Tommy. They get him to the hospital alive, but barely, maybe sprinkling in Tommy coding en route. Then they pull a Tarlos and have Buck talk to him while he's in a coma about how he still loves him, and wants to fight for them, and how he would be willing to start over if Tommy would just wake up.

The episode ends with Tommy squeezing Buck's hand and saying "Evan..."

THEN, just hold on, I'm not done yet.

8x08, we see Buck and Tommy have a heartbreakingly honest conversation while Tommy is in the hospital about Tommy's past relationships, his actual hesitation and reluctance to want to be with Buck. And Buck talks about how even though he thought he was secure in his sexuality, he wasn't actively trying to understand how to figure out what changed about him and what stayed the same while, sharing his growth too. Buck will bring up the line "you don't find a great love, you make it" and after the tears and the confessions, Buck says "I've never stopped loving you. And I won't, no matter how this ends, because as much as Abby was transformative, you blew my mind wide open to things that I never knew I could have." Buck gets his third chance, and they do say that the third time's the charm. He says the things he should have said last time.

Then there is more tears, Tommy says I love you back, and apologizes, and agrees to start over. Copy and paste Carlos holding on to TK's arm with a hand in his hair, but with Buck, and they kiss. Finally.

Then the camera pans to a shot of Bobby, Athena, Eddie, Chim, Lucy, and whoever else standing in the doorway/looking through the window but they can still hear all of Buck's speech, of Tommy's room, tears in their eyes and smiles on their faces.

Akatsuki no Yona chapter 60 magazine vs volume

Hi everyone! I managed to get my hands on the clip out of the magazine version of chapter 60 from Hana to Yume issue 17/2012, and as we don't have much trace from the magazine versions of the chapters from then, i thought it would interesting to share my findings! First, the color page: the editor text says "What will become of Yona and the others? The suspens is agonizing, but?!" (baby trio time!!!!!!) Otherwise it advertizes volume 9 and how well it's been doing. It was the first ever volume to get a special edition and cover with a new drama CD and comments from the seiyuus! Something that I can't help but find a bit ironic is how they really highlight Takuhiro Sakurai as Tae-jun on the bottom right and ah yeah...this didn't age too well.

Behind the color page, it shows that Hana to Yume was (already back then) having a special Yona Crimson Festival campaign. This is when belated Kentaro Miura drew an illustration of the whole main cast that could be win in a lottery, with a reproduction of the special cover of volume 9, autographs of the seiyuus from the drama CD and Kusanagi, and a totebag with Ao that I had never seen before. Miura apparently said that he just ended up drawing the whole cast since it grew a lot (since the time he had only drawn Yona and Hak I assume).

Then to the chapter in itself. I know Kusanagi started really making changes between the magazines and tankoubon(volumes) in relatively recent years so I didn't expect to find any difference here honestly but I found a few! I also find it interesting to see her author's note, the summary of the plot and presentation of the characters etc all around.

So! Page 2 and the first page of the chapter. No change with the manga page from the volume we know of here, but I thought it would be interesting to share for what's below. I honestly am a bit too lazy to translate the whole synopsis as I don't think it says anything novel or specially interesting (I can still do it if someone insist), but I found the characters presentation sweet since it's different from the one we've been getting for every chapter for a while, and it's very cute too since it's specially for this flashback mini-arc.

Yona: Kouka Kingdom's Princess. She is an only child who lost her mother at a young age. She is preciously raised by her father and King Il.

Suwon: Yona's cousin of three years older. He has been gently watching over Yona like a little sister ever since he's little.

Hak: The successor of Mundok, General of the Wind Tribe. Later on, he'll become the servant and bodyguard of his childhood friend Yona.

Now on to page 4: Yona's hair and face were redrawn on the third panel! The movement lines next to her head were erased too. For the text and font, you can also see that the font of the first bubble was changed for the default one, and that they're formated it slightly differently in the last box. We don't often think about the original lettering in manga and how they can also change between raw and volume do we?

Page 7: It's not like this change matter much, but I was so surprised and happy to find out that this iconic page had been modified as well. The third panel that showcases how lively Kuuto is was completely replaced with people playing music. I think the volume version indeed conveys Kuuto's atmosphere much better (like why would Yona be so amazed at two men talking and drinking really), but it's interesting to find out that back then they struggled to find what to put there precisely. From a creative process pov this is so relatable lmao.

Other than these two pages before, I haven't noticed any other change, but I thought I would share Kusanagi's author comment!

"I'm so so happy. I can't believe Miura-sensei drew me an illustration of Yona(and of the whole main cast at that!). This boost me up even more to do my very best! Thank you so much (happiness)."

Nothing special on the last page, but if anyone wondered if there was some editor text here to tease the next chapter...well no there isn't nfjbfhjbg. I so wish I could get my hands on chapter 61 too...

I'm not sure if I'll be able to get my hands on much more of those but I also got chapter 24 with this one, and I noticed a couple of things I'd like to share as well so stay tuned for that :)
