a big lesson for me was learning that most things are not as fragile as I’d believed. missing a class, or turning in a bad assignment, won’t instantly destroy your professor’s opinion of you. accidentally saying something harsh won’t make your friend want to end the friendship. it takes work to repair these things - it takes effort and research and sometimes a sincere apology - but you can do that because they’re not irreparably broken. what you’ve worked to build, in academia and in relationships and in life, is stronger and more enduring that your mind may teach you to believe. don’t let imagined fragility lead you to giving up

I remember discussing Tintin casting choices with a friend from Germany and remarked how it was odd he often has an English accent in adaptations rather than a Belgian one, and my friend just replied "that's because Tintin gives incredibly strong English boy energy (derogatory)"

Here in the UK there's a lot of weird classism tied into accents. Today accent diversity and representation in broadcasting is actively pursued but in Tintin's time there certainly was a preferred accent to have.

But I can't afford college without going into massive debt, so instead I spent the last 5 years trying to figure out what I am passionate enough about to consider going into debt over, because unfortunately being passionate about everything is extremely expensive to pursue.

Pre veilguard there was always the possibility that Solas was bound by a geas. So many theories! It explains why he is so angry when Inquisitor drinks from the well.

I was watching the well of sorrows cutscene with a flycam and you can see enchantment bindings all over his face as Inquisitor gets binded to the well. If it is not the case then why put it in game? Or did they retconned it? This is terrible and it adds so much.

It is similar to that of the inquisitor if they drink from the well.

Thinking about how in dav he tells both the Rook and the Inquisitor that he cannot stop—not that he won’t, but that he cannot. Narrative wise things would make sense if this is true, because it is so implied throughout dai. Why he's so angry at the mages who bound his friend. Why he had a vallaslin. Why he led a rebellion. Why he's so opposed to drinking from the well. Why he was supposed to beg the romanced inquisitor to not drink.

But also I kinda hope that Solas was not under a geas? Lackluster however it might be but the regret theme makes his character very interesting and complex, which I love so much. This theoy speaks of a different kind of abuse but dismisses the other abuse (taking advantage of his vulnerability). The abuse which is very relatable to some fans. Like me.

A lot of the time when people say a character is a golden retriever I’m like “that breed does not mean what you think it means” but you know what? Charles is a golden retriever

He’s affectionate and friendly and energetic and smiles all of the time always, you kick him and he’ll still smile and run right back to you after

But also Goldens are typically ranked as the fourth most intelligent dog breed, after only Border Collies, Poodles, and German Shepherds, but everyone always reaches for them as a metaphor for “no thoughts head empty just fluff and love”

And that’s Charles too. He announces Edwin as the brains and keeps his smile on and bounces around and is so casually sweet everyone figures he must be running on vibes alone and actually when they’re back in the office he’s the one doing the more visibly nerdy magic, the stuff you’d normally assign to your autistic-coded Q-archetype basement-recluse wizard, he’s creating complex enchanted items and writing runes and mentally managing hundreds to thousands of items in his bag. And he’s just as much a detective as Edwin is.

He just also grins and jumps and projects friendliness like his life depends on it, and people assume.
