Anyone an IT person and can tell me how to get my 2004 Dell monitor to recognize its being used as a second monitor T-T
It's plugged in, I know it's recognizing the video input, but I cannot get it to leave power save mode because it can't recognize my mouse and keyboard for me to click and "wake it up". I even tried plugging the mouse and keyboard into it, but it's working as a giant USB extension and all the input still goes to my main monitor.

Tech product guides trying to troubleshoot your issues: lol have you tried turning it off and turning it on again 🧐 I'm not going to read any of the things you said you did, if it doesn't work then get fucked. Go to settings and click this option that you said isn't even there anymore
Reddit: here's some actual helpful suggestions on where to find settings that can fix your problem. We're more reliable than google search. Except for when we just tell you to buy new hardware instead of trying to fix your problem
Some obscure tech blog article from 7 years ago: i *google ad* gotchu *google ad* *google ad* *troubleshooter you never knew existed* *google ad* *solution to your problem*
#tell me why i just spent the last four hours troubleshooting issues caused by NOT PLUGGING IN ESSENTIAL CABLES#in my defense i havent worked on the internals of a pc in seven years#but goddamn it was infuriating that the solution to my problems was to plug in a cable three times in a row#it's almost like i didnt have unnecessary cables in there and was keeping the extra one for a reason#but of course the fucking product site wont tell you this#i had to figure out i was missing the goddamn power cable from a youtube video on the bluetooth card installation#and before that i had to plug in a cable that my brother (the person who GAVE ME THIS MOTHERBOARD) said was unnecessary#like HOW did your computer function. mister sir this thing froze on startup without the cpu power supplement cable#extra support my ass#i would love it if msi motherboard installation guides mentioned the bluetooth cable too but noooo#may god help you if you ever have a bluetooth issue because ive had them plenty of times and they are fucking impossible to fix#this is why i quit robotics LMAO#anyways. rant over my pc is built now and the new setup is sooo pretty.#my brother did one thing right with this motherboard and that was installing ram with rgb leds 🥰#rainbow hardware my beloved#my old motherboard had these gorgeous leds and then they just stopped working :c i want more#at least this giant desktop is off my floor now. a tour group apparently was here while i wasn't on monday#(super pissed about that btw. if it happens again i will be tearing the office a new one bc we weren't even notified)#like i kicked that thing plenty just trying to walk around my room. it was right by the door. god wont save you if you break my shit#if someone else kicked that thing while in my apartment when i wasn't here. hoo boy#ok that's enough it's 6am and i finished my cocoa espresso three hours ago. i have two athletic classes today i need to sleep#imaginechats#<- new tag!! i might start rambling more#bc i love never shutting the fuck up 😄#it is a play on imaginecat btw if anyone was wondering. i go by that occasionally as a play on imaginealpha#less formal more cute nickname type thing

i bought a cheap laptop to replace my good ol' latitude e4300 and at first.. at first i thought i'd make a grave mistake, for you see, in my post-laptop death fugue state of looking for a replacement i was not as thorough in my researching as i should have been......
you see, i ordered a laptop that had win7 as its OS
which is great, it was a real fun blast from the past (sort of, i skipped win7) BUT....
win7 isn't compatible with scrivener. or onedrive. there's workarounds for onedrive but scrivener is necessary...........
anyway allegedly ms stopped letting ppl upgrade for free a couple yrs ago but i managed to weasel my way into an upgrade to win10 anyway and now after a couple of days of fighting for updates to finish and then figuring out why onedrive refused to actually open.........
success.... i can get back on my groove again

I still think about the fact that my computer just crashed constantly and randomly for years and I could never find a solution. I did a fresh install of all my drivers multiple times, would only have maybe 3 applications running at the same time ever, unintalled a bunch of programs in case it was a memory issue, unplugged a bunch of peripherals, nothing worked.
And then a few months ago I found an old post saying that my specific AMD graphics card was shipped in a default state of overclocking itself in an attempt to out perform the Nvidia cards at the time. So now I've manually hard capped the damn thing and wouldn't you know it? No more crashes.
My computer was shooting itself in the face on loop, breaking itself, to run a little better than the competition. I had to repair core files so many times because of this. It likely would have ruined this computer given enough time. What a fun thing to learn about.

Hardware: Mind is limitless, matter has constraints
Tumblr media
Manufacturing is not a deployment script. Software is copied at scale; hardware is built at scale. Component shortages, supply chain bottlenecks and minor spec changes can derail entire projects if not accounted for from the start. And you can’t account for everything at the start. Project management is focused on cost, scope, quality and documentation, but maybe that elephant in the room is reality.

Middle of the fucking night, I go to the bathroom and hear my fucking chickens screaming???? Go out to their coop and they’re out in the fully fucking enclosed pen with bloody faces and there are feathers everywhere. They’re okay, thankfully, but Jesus Christ can these fucking predators quit trying to kill my birds?????? I keep them cooped now to keep this from happening and something still tries to eat them like STOP IT. So now they’re in an extra large dog crate in my milk room 😑
#she speaks#there was signs of digging and a hole in the fence but no fur#girls have as good as they got apparently cuz like they’re alive#whatever it was tried to grab their heads so probably a racoon or a skunk#no smell probably means no skunk especially since the birds fought back but raccoons don’t really dig#but we do have a major skunk problem anyway#we’re just gonna have to break down and buy electric fencing#cuz this is fucking ridiculous#they’re in a fully enclosed coop/pen with hardware cloth#my dad was crouched down in their pen stapling the hardware cloth back to the frame#and my sweet little peep kept coming over to see what he was doing and demanding attention lol#she’s so cute and she’s gotten so big#like she’s a real chicken now#and this is the fucking second time she’s gotten attacked#like can y’all stop? she’s been through enough#and my older girl was like why is this happening why are you in here#I love my birds but man it seems like the entire universe is conspiring against us#so now we gotta figure out a solution in the meantime#cuz they can’t stay in my fucking milk parlor omg#but like even if we get electric netting we’ll have to order it and that’ll take time#ugh frustrating#my poor dad I had to wake him up to help me move the birds#and it’s like four in the morning when this happened#and now he has to go to work#UGH and I have to drive my brother to the doctor’s office tomorrow omfg#I haven’t slept#I was reading and then I went to the bathroom and then something tried to kill my birds#great start to the day jfc

Y'all I know that when so-called AI generates ridiculous results it's hilarious and I find it as funny as the next guy but I NEED y'all to remember that every single time an AI answer is generated it uses 5x as much energy as a conventional websearch and burns through 10 ml of water. FOR EVERY ANSWER. Each big llm is equal to 300,000 kiligrams of carbon dioxide emissions.
LLMs are killing the environment, and when we generate answers for the lolz we're still contributing to it.
Stop using it. Stop using it for a.n.y.t.h.i.n.g. We need to kill it.
