it was now time for p.e. class, well, was. the weather came at a bad time. the rain didn’t let up, and the school's gym was closed off for an event next week.

p.e. was officially “cancelled” and the students were all packed into the multipurpose room—a massive, echoey space with a bunch of exercise mats, storage cabinets, and zero structure.

the teacher looked at the time, their p.e. was usually 2 hours long and this was just the start of the first period, the rain didn't seem to ware off anytime soon. he sighed in defeat and just told the students this would be their free time, they all cheered and broke off into little social groups, some sitting in circles playing cards, others scrolling on their phones. A few students grabbed mats to sit against the walls. their teacher hardly cared about what they were doing as long as no fights broke out.

mika sat on the far side of the room by the window, a little elevated near the old p.e. gear shelves. she wanted to go outside and run around in the rain, but the teacher refused saying she'd get sick. eiko was close to her, feet waddling around refusing to sit still.

mika gave her the flattest stare imaginable. "don’t do that.”

“nothing,” she replied simply.

he squinted a bit. “then why’re you here?”

“bored.”

he expected her to talk more. she didn’t, and he didn’t mind, he even found it relieving actually. after a minute, he clicked his tongue and mumbled, “you’re in my [subject] class.”

“yeah.” another pause.

“you always stare out the window.”

nagi turned his phone slightly, adjusting the light of his phone and showing her the game screen. “3,851.”

“you're always sleep.” he shrugged, accepting the comment. she rested her chin on her knee. “what level are you on?”

“i can’t believe that worked,” eiko muttered.

“wow,” she said in a completely blank voice, but what really was in her mind was 'this guy has no life.' but then again she didn't really have one too, so she didn't say anything.

#liveblog - ive been doing this less lately but it's always a tradition for me to do at least a few liveblogs whenever im consuming a new media. i love this tag because it contains my magnum opus: my huge reblog chains with every little thought i had while reading kotlc. all of them have like 40 self reblogs to just add to them. there's a chain for each book, and i did it for the first like 5 or 6 books. i highly recommend looking at those they're very funny.

Do the neglected boys celebrate any holidays? If so, which are each of their favorites and why?

ougghh i dont knowwwwwww. the only thing i know is that they dont celebrate christmas until they move out, and thats only cuz their human friends sort of celebrate christmas so it's like. kinda novel.

i think splinter is a creature of habit so he might keep doing SOME of them if he felt they were important, but idk what japans celebration calendar looks like and that would require some research which i don't really have time for rn. plus like what if he just dropped a lotta that stuff for immigrant assimilation reasons. or he might just be a serious kinda guy who doesnt do holidays.

i dont know which celebrations are the most important or why, or how seriously people take them, so idk which ones he'd insist on and which ones he'd drop. right now im leaning more towards "no holidays" tho cuz im lazy and cuz it tracks with splinter being a miserable curmudgeon.

but it'd be fun to make him try to have a holiday with his weird mutant kids. he'd get all sad about not being human anymore but also might be a good dad for a day or something.

and one of my favorite things to do is make splinter do something good for the kids so that everyone gets mad at me for making them know that a shitty dad can also be nice sometimes.
