It is important to me that everyone knows that Jee Eun-U and Woo Ha-Jun are both gender queer as fuck
Eun-U is agender and uses they/them pronouns but actually couldn’t care less how people refer to them. They will refer to themself as a man or woman or neither or both as they so please
Ha-Jun uses he/him pronouns at the moment but only because everyone else does because he couldn’t care less. At some point he’s going to acquire the ability to turn into a woman and she’s going to be rubbing how pretty and buff she is in everyone’s faces
Dokja is getting beat over the head with the genderqueer agenda from the day he meets these two

Welcome to a guide to all basketball references around Buck's character so far written by the crazy color theory girlie who happens to be a former basketball player and might get too excited writing this!
Okay, first time we encounter a basketball in Buck's journey is actually in 301. The ball is there when Eddie drops Chris off but we do not get an angle of that table in 303, so it's unclear if it's still there.
Tumblr media
But I can tell you it's no longer there the next time we see that table. And pretty much every other time we are in that area.
Tumblr media
So the ball is only there for the beginning of Buck figuring out he loves Chris like a parent, not enough to create a pattern, BUT, it is the beginning of a major arc for Buck. So something to look out for.
The next time basketball comes up in relation to Buck doesn't really involve Buck. It is during 404 when Chim and Albert are discussing the Daniel secret and the way Buck is unaware of this big secret that shaped his whole life. In the episode he finds that out. So, look, another major event in Buck's life having basketball smacked in the middle.
Tumblr media
Once is an instance, twice is a coincidence, so let's keep going.
Next time we see a basketball is in 608. When Buck is babysitting Jee while madney house-hunts.
Tumblr media
608 is not a particularly eventful episode for Buck, but the house-hunting leads to the Buckley visiting, which ends up being a key part of his coma dream, a bit of a stretch, but I'll keep it here for further consideration.
Then we get to 704. 608 might be a stretch, but this sure ain't. So basketballs seem to be tied world-altering arcs beginning for Buck somehow.
704 first references basketball when Buck mentions the pickup basketball game Eddie is going to with Tommy. That's not the beginning of Buck's jealousy, but it is the first time he says he's upset he's being "excluded" even tho Eddie keeps inviting him. But that is what starts Buck's escalation.
Which then leads us to the scene everyone misunderstood.
Tumblr media
We still don't know who Eddie was talking to, since who is talking to is fully irrelevant, but it is kinda funny that Buck is desperately trying to get Eddie's attention.
The thing here is that the dialogue "I was thinking we should, we should get a hoop, huh?" is easy to misinterpret as Buck trying to invite himself to the game and not knowing the proper language for it, since "shoot some hoops" is a casual way to invite someone to play basketball. But we establish that Buck has a standing invitation, he just keeps saying no because he doesn't like it. He hates in fact, as stated twice in the show. Buck wants to get an actual hoop for the station so that Eddie doesn't have to go with Tommy to play it. Buck already has a ball, we saw it in the loft twice. He got a ball for the station and he wants to add a hoop to the recreational area of the station. They have pool tables, and ping pong tables, and the gym, not that far fetched to have a hoop too.
But that does not work in getting Eddie's attention, so Buck decides to ask Chim to go to the game with him, so he won't just show up.
That leads us to the actual basketball game.
Tumblr media
I think the actual game is choreographed in a very fun way. Buck is getting really frustrated, but for me, it has 3 key points.
Buck slamming into Tommy.
Tumblr media
This line.
Tumblr media
And Buck slamming into Eddie. (I'm not gonna add a gif, I don't like to look at that particular event)
The thing that's interesting that Buck slamming into Tommy, is that Tommy doesn't move. Buck gets all the impact. It adds to the way Tommy is unbending. Tommy is not presented to us as someone who compromises, and that makes that visual of Buck ricocheting from his chest something that catches my eye. I feel like even 811 adds to it, because he only decided to come back when he thought that he had won by default.
"You ain't getting past me" is just one of the many crazy wording lines we've gotten since s7 started. It is true within the context of the scene, Buck in fact loses possession of the ball to Eddie, so he doesn't get past him, but in the overall picture of their relationship, there is no getting past Eddie for Buck. Eddie is it. And Buck can pout, and lie, and distract himself, and pretend to be fine all he wants, he can't fill Eddie's space in his life with something else.
Obviously, we then have the too aggressive block that makes them believe Buck broke Eddie('s leg). This part is interesting because it takes Buck a while to react. This is a person who clawed at the dirt for Eddie, who ran into gunfire for Eddie. The fact that he freezes says a lot. His emotions get away from him and his immediate reaction is to hide. He only reacts when they determine that Eddie's leg might, in fact, be broken and he offers to be the one to drive him, but he doesn't push once Tommy tells him not to. He gives into the instinct to hide. And that ultimately is the thing that triggers the biggest change in Buck's character arc, the bisexuality once Tommy shows up in his house. But interesting enough there aren't references to the actual game during that conversation.
But we are not done with the basketball of it all in 704. Because we have the conversation with Maddie.
Up to that point everyone is interpreting what happened as an accident. Trust me, as someone who's dislocated a couple of fingers and has permanent damage on my ankle and knee because of basketball, it's ridiculously easy to injure yourself or someone else on a basketball court. But that's the moment Buck admits he is jealous and acting out. That scene is important because Buck admits to it being about Eddie, before Tommy offers him an explanation that's easier to live with and allows him to project that into somewhere safe. But that scene is also important because we find out that Buck didn't actually break Eddie('s leg), he's just scared that his big feelings scared Eddie away. But ultimately we know that Eddie is physically unable to hold anything against Buck so that turns out fine. He always going to be able to come back from his acting out, as also shown in 809.
Basketball is then not brought up again until 806, the anniversary dinner that leads to Buck and Tommy breaking up.
Tumblr media
Hey, look, another subtle what got Buck together with someone is part of what breaks them up.
Anyway, Buck hates basketball. Interesting to think that Tommy would think that's something Buck would enjoy, since it is an established fact that he doesn't like it. But this dinner ends up the beginning of the end. Again, basketball is involved in a major life change, since the breakup ends up extended in 811 and we get confirmation on who Tommy thinks is Buck's last. Interesting, right?
We then get Buck holding a basketball as he goes crazy on the potential renters in 809.
Tumblr media
The ball appears at a very interesting point in the conversation because when confronted with a mother and her kids, it almost makes it seem like he is "guarding" Christopher's room. And he only has the ball when talking to the mother, the one person that he feels threatened the most. Almost as if the idea of another family there is the thing that bothers him the most.
It is also what triggers Eddie telling him to leave, which makes him overhear Eddie, which makes him act out, which makes him take over the lease which creates all the problems from 811 that will probably definitely eventually lead to Buck's feeling realization. Yay for basketballs present in Buck's triggers.
Tumblr media
But if you think I'm reaching on blaming 809 for the events of 811. Fear not because that's not where the basketball ends.
Tumblr media
But Buck can't sleep in the house, so Maddie tells Buck to make new friends and Buck, bless his heart, tries to make friends by bringing up stuff Eddie likes because what he likes is Eddie.
But hell, basketball is present when he asks Ravi for drinks and it all leads to Ravi leaving him with Tommy and Tommy calling him out on possibly having feelings for Eddie that definitely won't lead to Buck figuring out any big thing about himself, right? 👀
And we also get a possible confirmation of the fact that Buck did in fact take Eddie to that Lakers game. Because if there's one thing Evan Buckley will do is yap about Eddie.
Tumblr media
Why are they using something Buck hates in these triggers? Well, that's the part I haven't figured out yet, but it is something that is present, so I will be on the lookout for it to come up again lol
That's all for today, if you read this I love you.

Mama
Pairing: Eddie Diaz x Reader Summary: When Christopher climbs into bed at 2 a.m., all you expect is a nightmare. What you get is something quieter, heavier, and far more permanent. Tags: fem!reader, no use of y/n, established relationship, found family, gentle!eddie diaz, christopher diaz centric for parts of it, quiet domesticity, late night emotional conversations, asking for a parental role, soft!fic, fluff, reader steps into the mom role without realising, eddie already knew, syrupy morning after, hurt/comfort in the gentlest way, emotionally significant naming moment, christopher's thoughts on family, you’re already his mama he just needed to ask Word count: 625 words Note: I originally wrote this in 2023 but I've just edited it to match how I write now.
Tumblr media
The mattress dips under a familiar weight, rousing you from the precipice of sleep. Christopher's silhouette comes into focus, his small body contorted with the effort of climbing into your bed.
"Hey baby," you murmur, shifting to make room for him. "You okay?"
He doesn't answer at first, his breaths shuddery against the quiet hum of the night. Cautiously, you reach out, your hand coming to rest on the curve of his back. It rises and falls under your touch, a testament to the life he carries within him. Unspoken words hang in the air, heavy as the darkness that presses in around you.
"I want..."
His voice is barely audible, a fragile thread woven through the stillness. You wait, your heart beating a steady rhythm against the silence, giving him the space he needs to continue.
"I know I had a mom, but I want to..."
You understand what he means even before he finishes the sentence. The mother who brought him into this world is gone, replaced by a void only you can fill. But how do you replace a love that has been ripped away so cruelly?
"What should I call you?" His thoughts tumble out, raw and unfiltered. "Mom doesn't feel right, but you... you do those things."
And he's right. You've taken on the role without even realising it—making his lunch, driving him to school, caring for him when he's sick. You've become the constant in his ever-changing world, a beacon guiding him through the storm.
"How about 'Mama'?"
The word hangs in the air between you, a tentative bridge over the chasm of unspoken fears. He turns it over in his mind, letting it take shape, then breathes it out again, a whisper against your skin.
"'Mama.'"
It sounds right—feels right—in a way that defies explanation. The corners of Christopher's mouth twitch upward in a small smile, one that doesn't quite reach his eyes but holds promise nonetheless.
"I think... I like that," he murmurs, the tension in his shoulders easing ever so slightly.
You press a soft kiss to his temple, then settle back down, wrapping an arm around him once more. "Get some sleep, love."
The next day, Eddie steps into the kitchen just as Chris is finishing his first pancake. "Daddy, Mama made pancakes!" he announces with syrup on his chin.
"I see that," Eddie says with a soft chuckle. He ruffles Chris's hair and leans in to kiss the top of his head before making his way over to you. "Morning, Mama," he teases, pressing a quick kiss to your cheek.
You swat him lightly, rolling your eyes but unable to hide the smile pulling at your lips. He already knows. Chris doesn't have a phone of his own yet, which means Christopher had spoken to Eddie beforehand.
"When did he talk to you about it?" you ask, sliding a plate stacked high with pancakes toward Eddie.
"A few days ago," Eddie admits, taking a seat and reaching for the maple syrup. "He said Jee-Yun being born made him start thinking about it. He wasn't sure what name to use for you, though, so he was waiting until he figured it out."
"Well," you say, reaching over to tousle Chris's hair, "he stopped waiting and asked me directly. I don't mind being woken up at 2 a.m. for things like that."
Chris giggles, mouth full of pancake, and you turn back to Eddie, leaning in to capture his lips in a brief but meaningful kiss.
You've found your home here, amid the laughter and love of this sweet, unconventional family. And now, with Chris wanting to call you his mom—even if it's in his own unique way—it feels even more like yours. Permanent.

"Wait, wait, stop," Buck says, and the very pleasant feeling of Tommy's mouth on his neck vanishes.
"You okay?" Tommy's got his Look of Concern plastered on his face. Good thing, because if Buck is right, this is concerning.
"Yeah, it's just - did you hear that?"
Tommy raises his eyebrows. "I heard you moaning."
"Tommy, that's the thing - it wasn't me." The Look of Concern has morphed into the Look of Are-You-Sure-You're-Not-Having-Me-On? It's mostly used whenever Buck regales Tommy with tales of one of the 118's emergencies ("Nothing like that ever happened while I was there, Evan"), but he's seen it in other contexts (explaining the entire Kim situation).
"At this point, I think I know what you sound like in bed." Tommy's mouth is still nicely red. And maybe he's right, it was nothing, and it would be easy to fall back into him. Buck waits a beat, ears perked, but there's nothing - so he does press his lips into Tommy's, Tommy's body relaxing against him.
Tommy rubs his side like Buck's an anxious horse. The hair on Buck's arms slowly flattens, goosebumps leaving his skin. He loses himself in the slide of their kisses, until -
He breaks free of Tommy and looks around wildly, Tommy woah'ing.
"Sweetheart," Tommy says, reaching out again. "Seriously, you okay? Because you're giving Ghost Whisperer."
Buck snaps his fingers at Tommy. "Exactly. My apartment is haunted."
"Evan." The word is a drier desert than Antarctica.
"There was a moan again! And it wasn't me. And when Chimney and Mara and Jee were over here helping set up, they left the balcony door open. It's October. And now there is something living here."
"Last time I checked, Casper wasn't considered alive," Tommy says, and the look on his face tells Buck everything: he really is a skeptic. Falling asleep during Buck's thoughts on Area 51 wasn't just because he found Buck's voice soothing.
When Buck reaches for his phone on the bedside table, a chill runs down his arm and into his spine. "Okay." He's got Google, a helpful army of friends, and the ability to buy anything he needs. That ghost is history. "So first, we need to get -"
He's stopped by Tommy's hand on his wrist. "Baby, do we really need to figure out your ghost thing right now?"
"Do you want to fuck in front of a ghost, Thomas?"
"Is he a hot ghost?" Tommy waggles his eyebrows, then sighs. "Look, I get that this is important to you, but I was away for three weeks for that training camp and I missed you. Can we send The Flying Dutchman back to sea in a couple days? My place has a big bed and a distinct lack of the supernatural."
As they're closing the door to Buck's loft, another faint moan emanates from the air.
"It's the pipes," Tommy says, linking his arm into Buck's to guide them to his car.
(They find out three days later Tommy is technically correct when maintenance pulls a dead raccoon out of the walls of Buck's loft.
"Huh," Tommy says, frowning at his phone. "They really do make that noise."
"And they stink." Buck wrinkles his nose. "Your bed still open?"
By the time the landlord's finished the repairs, Buck's stuff, cleared out for the construction, is scattered over Tommy's house.
"It'd be a pain to pack it all up again," Tommy says. "Keep it here."
"You just want easy access to my hoodies," Buck accuses, feeling Tommy's laughter from underneath the fabric of the stolen blue hoodie he's wearing.
Two hours later, hoodie abandoned to the floor, Buck officially moves in.)
[thanks to @stardustbuck (Buck thinks he's haunted) and @theweewooshow (balcony raccoon) for the inspo 🫶]

believe me darling, the stars were made for falling
Evan had called, so Tommy had come. It was as simple as that.
He hadn't been expecting the call, not so soon after- no, he didn't want to think about that.
Well. He hadn't been expecting the call. But it had come, so here he was, walking into a coffee shop he'd never heard of, much less been to, while Evan waved him down. He certainly hadn't thought Evan would be seated at a bar in front of the window, situated so that they wouldn't even look at each other. Maybe no feelings actually meant can't stand the sight of you, despite the fact Evan had been the one to call.
Tommy slipped into the open seat and took a sip from the cup waiting for him. It was perfect.
They sat in silence for a while, watching people hurry by outside. Tommy hadn't been the one to ask for this, so he didn't want to break the calm - maybe this is all Evan had wanted, all Evan had needed. And if it was, well, Tommy would provide.
But then, after a stressed-looking woman with a triple stroller walked by for the second time, Evan spoke up. "If you were writing a book about our relationship, what would you call it?"
(read more on ao3, or under the cut)
Tommy looked over, hoping to get a read of Evan's emotions, but Evan was staring out the window. A slew of titles passed through his head. Maybe Best Thing I Ever Had. Ending This Was My Greatest Mistake. Maybe even Times with the Love of My Life, if he was feeling brave. But he wasn't. "I'm not sure. Done Too Soon, or something like that."
Evan took a long drink, still not looking at him. Then, "Do you think I'm exhausting?"
"In what context?"
That earned him a quick glance, at least, though a heartbreaking one. "So that's a yes."
Evan sounded so dejected, so small. Tommy could never live with that. "It's not a yes, it's a clarifier. Because did you tire me out? I can think of a few times." He bumped Evan's shoulder playfully, remembering it - him sprawled on the mattress, completely sated. Evan, somehow still ready for more above him, guiding him into lazy kisses while thrusting gently between his thighs.
Evan didn't seem to be remembering the same, still lost in whatever thoughts were behind this line of questioning.
"No, Evan. I don't think you're exhausting. Not at all."
Evan sat with that for a moment. Rolled his cup between his hands. When he spoke again, it was quiet. Much too quiet for his Evan. "Do you think I make everything about me?"
"No," Tommy said forcefully. He didn't hesitate. Partly because he could tell Evan needed it. But mostly because he didn't second guess for a moment. How could Evan think for even a moment that he made everything about himself? They had met while he was risking his life to save his captain. Time after time when they were together, Evan put Tommy first. And when he hadn't, it wasn't that he was putting himself first. No, it was Eddie or Chris or Bobby or Maddie or Jee or any one of his family. Rarely, if ever, Evan put himself first.
"Are you saying that just because you feel bad for me?"
"No, of course not. Evan, where is this coming from done?"
Evan drained the last of his drink instead of answering. "I'm gonna-" he pointed toward the counter over his shoulder. "You want anything?"
Tommy rested his hand on Evan's arm before he could stand. "We can get more in a minute. But first, I want to know why you're thinking these things."
Evan looked at him then, finally. Stared into his eyes until Tommy could feel himself falling into the pools of blue looking back at him, until Evan blinked and settled back on his chair, turning back to the window. Then, out of nowhere, "The Trials and Tribulations of Evan Buckley, a Tragedy in 97 Acts."
Tommy felt his eyebrows furrowing, despite his best attempt to keep his face neutral. "Who said that nonsense?"
"You don't think it fits?"
"In that you've been through a lot? Yes. In that you make things about you when they're not? No."
Evan sat with that.
"Evan. You don't, and I hope you don't believe anyone who says you do. I can't think of a single time you've done so. Hell, think of how we met!"
"He said I'm making Bobby's death about me."
He? Howie or Eddie then. "Hmmm. Well, have you talked to anyone else about how they're feeling about it all? Been there to support them?"
"Huh? Of course."
"And I know Eddie has been staying at your house, so your actions certainly aren't all for yourself."
Evan shut down completely. It had been Eddie then.
"I'm sorry. I just want you to see, you're not making everything about yourself. You're giving yourself to others, like I've always known you to do. And I don't for one minute want to tell you how to live your life, but I don't think it's worth your time to spend it with people who are telling you things that are both untrue and hurtful."
Evan took a deep breath, then another. Hunched in on himself, then straightened his shoulders too much, unnaturally. Sank back into his normal posture. "I-" Stopped himself and took another breath. "I don't think I want to be friends with Eddie anymore."
Tommy stood at that, unable to stay still. He went slowly, making sure to give Evan time to protest, but nothing came. So Tommy moved behind him, hand trailing up Evan's arm as he did so Evan wouldn't mistake the action for leaving. Once there, Tommy leaned heavily against Evan, just how he knew he loved. He rested his head on his shoulder, wrapped his arms around him, hugged him as best as he could with Evan still seated at the counter.
Evan tensed, and Tommy almost backed off, but then he relaxed and grabbed Tommy's arms tightly, keeping him there. "I just don't know what to do." In their reflection, Evan looked an inch from crying. "He means so much to me, and god- Chris, I can't leave him, I just-" His head dropped.
Tommy gave him a minute, letting them breathe together while he held him tight. Then, after loosening his grip, he said, "Evan, look at me." He waited until Evan turned around. "You don't need to figure everything out right now."
Evan gave a little laugh. "They're staying with me. It's not like I can get away from it."
"That's not what I meant." He took Evan's face in his hands, rubbing his thumb back and forth over his cheekbone. "We're here, not there, and you can take a moment to breathe. We can get more coffee if you really want to, and if not let's get something to eat. Then let's go sit in that open corner booth so we can look at each other, and we can sort this out. Or, if now's not the right time, we can talk about literally anything else. That sound okay?"
Evan nodded, keeping his gaze on Tommy's eyes while he did.
"Okay. Why don't you go grab the booth, and I'll go order. Did you want more coffee? Maybe tea?"
Evan swallowed once, twice, before he rasped, "Tea sounds good."
"Okay. I'll be right over." Tommy gave in to his impulses and pressed a kiss into Evan's hair. "We'll figure this out, together."

Note
This is me asking about your ideas
I'd love to hear them, and I'm sure others would too
Okay!
So this fic was stars two SIOCs (which aren't actually self inserts at all)
There is Jee Eun-U and Woo Ha-Jun (names subject to change but I will be using them for the sake of this post)
Jee Eun-U uses the characters 智 (jee) meaning wisdom, 恩  (eun) meaning kindness, mercy or charity and 祐 (u) meaning divine intervention or protection
Woo Ha-Jun uses 우 (woo) meaning house or universe, 夏 (ha) meaning summer and 准 (jun) meaning approve or permit
Now! The basic premise is this
Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint was written to convince Kim Dokja he deserves a happy ending and to return to his companions. In this story what happens is that enough Kim Dokja fragments dream up a chance, a chance for a happy ending, a chance for Kim Dokja to stay
This manifests in the Most Ancient Drea, rewinding the clock back on the 1864 worldline and grabbing two ORV readers and plopping them into it isekai style with the task of convincing Kim Dokja that he shouldn't stay on the train damning him to an eternity of loneliness actually
These two readers, of course, becoming Jee Eun-U and Woo Ha-Jun
For the stuff that isn't quite as fleshed out yet
Characterization
Jee Eun-U and Woo Ha-Jun are meant to resemble what would come out if you put YooHanKim in a blender and two human beings came out
Personailty wise, Jee Eun-U resembles a more emotionally open and less repressed Yoo Joonghyuk while Woo Ha-Jun is a more openly aggressive and less cunning Han Sooyoung
Sorta
Eun-U in their first life spent most of it in the hospital where they eventually died. This led them to fall into a deep depression. It was them finding ORV that brought some sort of meaning and feeling back into their life.
ORV was to them what TWSA was to Kim Dokja
They are they quiet type and have problems emoting because they, you know, spent an entire lifetime basically in a sterile hospital, but they know ORV front to back from the amount of times they read it
They are the one who wants to save the world at large on top of Kim Dokja, because the world of ORV is beloved to them. Every part of it. They are the one who is making the plans and using their meta knowledge to it's fullest extent.
In contrast, Woo Ha-Jun had a very normal, if detached life. He was very apathetic towards others, with exceptions for those he deemed his.
He picked up ORV and read it, enjoyed the story and it's characters, but it wasn't life changing for him
He cares very specifically about making sure Dokja and Eun-U are okay and he couldn't care less about anything else. He's chatty and smiley but doesn't actually care about what's happening to people
He's more than happy being the brawns to Eun-U's brains (not that he isn't smart) and bringing them back to reality (as he likes to say) or being the bad guy when he feels it is necessary
More Plot Like Stuff
So, Eun-U and Ha-Jun meet when they are young and start plotting and theorizing about what to do
Ha-Jun just wants to find Dokja and make sure he doesn't do something stupid meanwhile Eun-U wants to try and make the apocolypse as easy to deal with as possible
In the end Eun-U wins the argument because Dokja's happy ending is getting Joonghyuk's happy ending which means saving the world
They decide to do this by getting Ha-Jun famous, you know, for the influence, with Eun-U acting as his manager
They end up meeting Kim Dokja and befriending him during middle school (or the Korean equivalent) and go from there
By the time the apocolypse rolls around, Ha-Jun is suitably famous (with Eun-U and Dokja being famous by proxy bc Ha-Jun won't shut up about them) and Dokja knows he is unconditionally loved by at least two people
Lastly some more fun things!
Eun-U and Ha-Jun, because their new lives were made by Most Ancient Dream, are extremely protagonisty in nature
They are both extremely attractive (with Eun-U, the most Joonghyuk-like, being drop dead gorgeous)
Ha-Jun, and later Dokja, start calling Eun-U Angle Face as a joke and it sticks
Ha-Jun has his fingers in every part of the world he can get them into (or rather, what Eun-U can get him into). He does streaming, modeling, acting, activism. If you can name it, he's probably done it
Eun-U whenever they show up as Ha-Jun's manager to things keeps getting mistaken for the talent so they started wearing a mask because the poorly socialized bean doesn't know how to deal with people
Dokja is extremely confused as to how he got Ha-Jun and Eun-U to be friends with him but after about a decade and a half, he's aware enough that's he's stuck with them
Eun-U is actually two years younger than Ha-Jun and Dokja, skipping two grades
Eun-U has a side hustle that they dragged Dokja into as an editor, leading to the two meeting Han Sooyoung pre-apocalypse
I could go on about this for a while, so please! If you have anymore questions, ask! For when the scenarios start, Eun-U and Han-Jun's dynamic with the characters, their possible powers, anything!

Crack concept: Atsushi doesn’t exactly get absorbed…not completely that is.
Akutagawa: Weretiger!
Atsushi: Oh my god can you lower your volume I’m right here!
Akutagawa:…Well get off the floor then!
Atsushi: Oh jee let me just get my nonexistent leg and my nonexistent arm and oh yeah the entire MISSING HALF of my body and then I’ll be right up there with you.
Akutagawa: Sarcasm is unbecoming of you.
Atsushi: When my leg comes back I’m going to throw it at you.
Akutagawa: I see nothing changed now you’ve lost half your brain.
Atsushi: I see being bought back to life didn’t give you a sense of humour.
Akutagawa: Does it hurt?
Atsushi: You remember when you cut my leg off, the first time?
Akutagawa: Obviously.
Atsushi: I would prefer having that pain over this…every day of my life over this.
Akutagawa: You damn fool, why would you protect me?
Atsushi: Why would you protect me?
Akutagawa: I asked you first!
Atsushi: I asked you second!
Akutagawa: That doesn’t even make sense!
Atsushi: My consciousness is split between here and a 4th dimensional plane of reality where I’m being guided by a hallucination of my dead Headmaster pretending to be Dazai.
Atsushi: Nothing in our lives makes sense.
Akutagawa: I suppose you’re right.
Atsushi: Oh man am I dead? Did you just admit that?
Akutagawa: Idiot you’re not allowed to die until I kill you.
Atsushi: Well I’m at least half way there-ow!
Akutagawa: Don’t even joke about that!
Atsushi: Okay ow! Jeez keep that up and I’ll start to think you were worried- stop kicking me!
Fyodor:…Did you get any of that?
Gozen shrugs.

Eddie felt something warm and comforting settle in his stomach at how easily he and Buck worked together even outside of work. He ignored the thought that followed - that he and Buck had been a parenting team for years now and maybe it would be nice to have another kid one day. Maybe it would be really nice to see Buck holding a baby. Maybe Eddie wanted that.

more post-makeup amnesia fic. *slaps the roof of tommy kinard* you can fit so much guilt and shame in this bad boy
Maddie and Howie arrive with the kids in tow. Jee Yun runs over to give Tommy the same little high five-fist bump-punch to the palm routine she always does, and Tommy feels himself smile for the first time since Evan woke up and asked what he was doing there.
"Sweetheart," Maddie says. "Do you want to go see Uncle Buck with Daddy and Kevin? I need to talk to Uncle Tommy."
Tommy looks at her, a little alarmed. "Is that the best idea?"
Maddie shrugs. "No better way to show him what month it is than a whole new person who was just a - " she glances at Jee Yun and remembers herself. "Just a little bean in Mommy's tummy the last he remembers."
"I guess," Tommy says, a little doubtful.
Howie gets a finger hooked into the back of Jee's collar, shifts Kevin higher on his hip and expertly guides his little family towards Evan's door, sparing a second for a sympathetic glance at Tommy.
Maddie watches them go with a little smile, then sighs and sits down next to Tommy.
"What are you doing out here?"
"As far as he's concerned, I broke his heart last month. He won't even look at me, Maddie. Me being there is not keeping him calm."
Maddie purses her lips, glances at him from the corner of her eye. "Are you going to run?"
Tommy bites his tongue. Reminds himself that she's Evan's sister, and like she's told him, she's a runner herself. She has a right to ask.
"No," he says.
"Good. Let me go talk to him."
Right on cue, Howie pokes his head out of the door. Tommy can hear Jee chattering and Evan - thank god - laughing.
"Mads?"
"Got it," Maddie says, and she briefly squeezes Tommy's shoulder as she goes, trading places with Howie, apparently concerned about visitor limits in a way no one connected with Evan or the 118 usually is. Tommy's aware that he's being managed, and is pathetically grateful.
"Here," Howie says, transferring Kevin into Tommy's arms before he has a chance to object. Not that he would, really. Tommy loves babies. Likes kids, but loves babies. But he can see it for what it is - you can't be tense while you hold a baby, not if you don't want them to pick up on it and become absolutely miserable in a split second.
"Low blow, Han," Tommy says, spreading his hand across Kevin's back and breathing slowly.
"Whatever works, man. How you holding up?"
"Uh. Kind of want to walk into traffic, honestly."
"Fair. This is one goddamn bitch of an unsatisfactory situation."
Tommy gives Howie a narrow-eyed look. "That feels homophobic."
Howie laughs and knocks their shoulders together.
"When did you last eat something?"
"I don't know," Tommy admits.
"Alright. Leave Kev with a nurse if you decide to go hiking on the freeway, I'll be right back."
"Jesus, Howie."
With the baby in his arms, Tommy can't duck his head to avoid the way Howie ruffles his hair so he just rolls his eyes, resettles in his seat and waits.

5 times your daughter prefers Buck, 1 time she prefers you
1️⃣
It was a nice summer day, good for a picnic at the park. Buck had the day off and promised to spend some time with you both this weekend as he’d been so busy all week.
You packed a large blanket and a cooler of sandwiches, snacks and drinks for a few hours at the park. Buck had even brought some slices of cake he had made.
Evie helped you set up the blanket on a fluffy patch of grass while Buck carried all the other items.
“Do you want to play for a little bit then come and eat?” You asked, sitting down and kicking your shoes off.
“Yes! I’m not hungry yet.” She claps her hands.
“Alright, put on some sunscreen and you can go.” You beckon her forward. She groans, hating the feeling of the sticky lotion on her skin.
“Come on kid, sunscreen isn’t so bad.” Buck laughs, handing you a water from the cooler. “Make sure you stay close by, we’ve got to see you at all times.” Buck reminds her as you slather lotion on her face and arms.
“Do you want to go on the swings?” You ask, rubbing her arms. “I can come push you for a bit.”
“I want Buck to do it.” She demands, not unkindly.
“Hey! Why not me?” You pout.
“Buck has bigger arms and he’s stronger so he can push me higher and faster.”
“That’s probably true.” He shrugs.
“So mean you two.”
“Awe, don’t get jealous.” Buck teases, leaning down to peck your forehead. “Can’t help that I’m the favorite.” He shoots before picking Evie up and running off.
They’re both laughing as they run to the swings.
2️⃣
Buck had been lucky enough to get Halloween off this year. Most of the 118 decided to spend the night together and take the kids trick or treating. For most of the night Evie stayed by Jee and Mara’s side but when a particular house with some scary decorations came up, she refused to go up.
A soundtrack of eerie sounds, a fog machine, and all types of mannequins replicating movie monsters littered the yard.
“Babe, they’re just decorations. It’s okay to be scared but I promise nothing bad will happen.” You rub her back.
“Why don’t you walk between me and Chris?” Denny offers.
She shakes her head quickly and clings to your leg. “Do you want to skip this house?”
“I want to go with Buck.” She grabs his hand, leaving no room for argument.
Buck grins and holds her little hand in his. She stays behind his leg as she shuffles up to the door. Buck can see the bowl of candy on the floor in front of the monster on the rocking chair.
“Okay, keep your eyes closed and I’ll guide your hand to the bowl.” Buck kneels down and guides her hand into the bowl. Her other hand holds her bucket. She grabs a mini candy bar and throws it in her bucket. She finds Buck’s hand again as she pulls him in a jog back to you.
Buck lets out a dramatic breath, “That was so scary, he almost got us.”
“Did he really?” You raise a brow, laughing at him.
“No, Buck scared him away!” Evie looks through her candy bowl.
“With that face, I bet he did.” Eddie jokes causing Chris to laugh loudly and Buck to nudge his shoulder.
3️⃣
“Can we read a book tonight?” Evie slips off the couch and slips her feet into her slippers.
“Okay, go brush your teeth and pick out a book, I’ll be there in a minute okay?” You begin to fold the blanket as you stand.
Buck takes two corners and brings them together. You bring your side to meet his, receiving a cold, chocolatey kiss from him as he grabs the blanket and finishes folding by himself. He tosses the blanket onto the back of the couch.
You collect the bowls and spoons from the coffee table and began heading to the kitchen. Just as you’re washing the residue from your sundaes, you hear Evie’s feet pattering back into the living room.
“I got my book!”
“Alright babe, I’m almost done!” You shout back.
“Can Buck read to me instead?” You peek your head from around the kitchen wall.
“But I always read to you.” You don’t conceal your hurt this time.
“I know mommy but I like when Buck makes his funny faces and voices.” She hugs the book to her chest.
“Oh, okay. Go ahead then. I’ll be there later to kiss you goodnight.” You duck back into the kitchen to dry the dishes. You hear Buck telling Evie to go get settled and he would be there soon.
You then hear and feel him creeping into the kitchen behind you. His arms wrap around your waist and he rests his chin on your shoulder.
“Baby…”
“It’s fine, Buck.” You lean your head against his. “Go read, I’ll get our bed ready.”
“You know she loves you and only wants me because she doesn’t get to see me all the time.” He ignores your previous comment and kisses your neck.
“You’re stealing all my mom duties!” You pout. “It’s not funny! You wormed your way into her little heart and she’s forgotten all about me.”
Through giggles he says, “That’s not true. You’re literally her entire world she just likes having me around. And I mean I’m really funny when I read to her.”
“Funny looking, yes.” You agree.
“Hey! Don’t be a jerk. Would you rather her absolutely hate me?” He pokes your sides.
“I guess not.” You sigh, “you better get in there before she comes back out and asks why you’re taking so long.”
“I know, she gets bossy like her mom.” He sticks his tongue out, the tip pressing to your cheek.
“You’re disgusting and I’m not bossy. Now go.” You push his stomach and swat his butt with the hand towel.
4️⃣
You’re spreading the Nutella onto the piece of bread when Evie comes out of the bathroom. She is already changed into some comfy sweats as she climbs into the seat.
“What worksheets do you have today?” You slide over her toast and cut up strawberries and bananas. “I have to do a math sheet and some reading.”
“Okay, which one are we doing first?” You sit beside her, stealing a piece of her fruit.
“Can Buck help me with my math?”
“He’s at work babe.”
“Can we call him?”
“We can try but he’s usually really busy. Don’t be upset if he can’t talk okay?”
She nods.
You: hey, are you super busy right now? Evie would like your help with her math homework 🥹
Buck: give me 5 minutes and I’ll give you a call
Buck: also hi gorgeous, I miss you ❤️
You: miss you too, can’t wait to see your cute face even if it’s through a screen 🥰
Buck gives you a FaceTime call a few minutes later. You scoot closer to Evie and prop your phone up so they can see each other.
“Hey kid! How was school?”
“Buck!” She says through a mouthful. “I made a new friend today.”
“Oh yeah? Tell me about it.” He grunts as he slumps into a chair.
“Mommy says you’re busy.”
He chuckles and nods, “okay, what’s the first question?”
She reads off the question and you can see him leaning forward to grab a pen on the table then a napkin.
Buck watches as she holds up her fingers and counts. She reminds him to hold his fingers up too.
“You’re super smart, Buck.” She mentions as she finishes the last few questions.
“Takes practice.” He shrugs.
“Or getting struck by lightening.” You raise a brow.
“What do you mean mommy?”
“Nothing, she’s just making a joke.” Buck gives you a look. Buck had mentioned getting stuck under the fire engine once while giving you two a tour and Evie refused to go near the engine. It took Bobby carrying her and letting her wear his captain helmet for her to finally sit inside the truck.
You hear the chimes and bells signaling Buck has to go for a call. “Be safe, we love you!”
“I will, I’ll call you before bed okay? I love you.” You can see him rushing downstairs and grabbing his gear with one hand.
“Thank you, Buck!” Evie shouts before the call hangs up.
5️⃣
“How’s my girl?” Buck says through the screen.
“She’s sleeping now but still has a fever and tummy ache.” You run your fingers through her hair as she rests her head on your thigh.
“Did you tell her that I’m coming over later?”
“Of course.” You roll your eyes, “she’s refusing to eat the canned noodle soup.”
“I can’t help that she likes my cooking.” He laughs.
“You got everything you know from Bobby.” You bite.
“Yeah whatever, she still likes my cooking better no matter where I learned it from.” You can see him pulling items from the shelves as he swerves through the grocery store.
“You don’t make me soup when I’m sick.”
“Oh come on, that’s not fair. You’ve been sick once since we’ve been together and you wouldn’t let me come see you.” He shakes his head.
“Is that Buck?” You hear from below you.
“Yeah baby, he’s at the store.” You feel her forehead.
“Evie!” Buck cheers through the phone. “I’m coming over to make my magic soup.”
“Can you hurry?” She whispers. “My tummy hurts.”
“I’ll be there soon, try to sleep some more okay?”
She nods and rests her head back down.
By the time she wakes up again, Buck is carrying her to the table.
“Buck? When did you get here?”
“A few hours ago, can you sit?” He kisses her forehead before setting her in the chair.
“Why didn’t you wake me up?” She rubs her droopy eyes.
“Because you looked so cute sleeping.” You smile, setting her bowl in front of her. “It’s hot so don’t eat it just yet.”
“Do we have crackers?”
“Yup, made sure to get you the little ones you like.” Buck sits beside her, feeling her forehead.
“Can I have some water?” She shivers, scooting closer to Buck for warmth.
“Of course babe, how are you feeling?” You rush to the cabinet to pull out a cup.
“My tummy still hurts.” She curls in on herself. “And I’m hungry.”
Buck gives her a few crackers and spoons some soup onto the plastic Bluey spoon. He blows twice before bringing it to her lips.
“Good?” He searches her face.
“I feel better already.” She smiles, brushing her hair out of her face.
“Told you the magic soup always works.” He gives you a wink.
*️⃣1️⃣
“Where’s mommy?” Evie asks, skipping into the bedroom. Buck sits on the bed scrolling through the tv.
“She’s in the shower. What’s up?” Buck pats the bed. She walks over to the side he’s on and lifts her arms. He leans over to pick her up.
“Just want a hug.” He sits her in the middle of the bed, pulling the blanket over her lap.
“I’ll give you a hug.” He opens his arm.
“I want a hug from mommy. She has the best cuddles.”
“I can attest to that.” Buck smiles over at her. “I’m sure she’ll be out soon. Want to watch something with me?”
“Okay.” She nods and lays back against the pillows. Buck watches as she looks to the bathroom door several times.
“You okay?” He pats her knee.
“Yeah, mommy is taking a long time.”
“She’s just having some mommy time before bed.” He assures. “You sure you don’t want to snuggle with me? I can keep you warm until mom gets out.”
“No, that’s okay.” She sighs before resting her head back onto the pillow.
She lifts her head a few minutes later when the bathroom door opens and steam drifts out.
“Hey girly, what are you doing up?” You smile, adjusting your towel around your body.
“I want cuddles.” She pleads.
“Is that so?” You smirk at Buck as you trail over to the bed. “Guess, I’m good for something.”
Evie bolts up onto her knees and wraps her arms around your shoulders, climbing into your lap.
“I’m still a little wet on my shoulders, you might get cold.” You wrap your arms around her waist.
“Don’t care, just want a hug.” You smiles into your neck.
“Okay, whatever you say.” You kiss her cheek. “Feeling lonely over there Mr. Buckley?”
“Yes.” He immediately says.
“Come join our mommy cuddles!” Evie exclaims. Buck doesn’t hesitate to scooch up against your back and hug the both of you.
“Best cuddles ever.” He whispers into your ear.
