jason: some people need to be told to shut the fuck up more
tim: you can’t talk
jason: what? no. not me. i’m a gift from god and my words should be taken as gospel
tim: every time you speak it’s like a war drum except the omen is one of annoyance. [bad mimic of jason’s voice] oh look at me i’m the great red hood, everyone has to deal with me because i’ve decided to inflict myself on the public today
jason: i could be a cult leader, you got no idea what you’re talking about. people love to listen to me talk
tim: your cult would end in a mass suicide
jason: and?

Hope on a Foggy Night
Clawing screaming breaking bleeding fingers choking mud loud quiet screaming pain horn...
Jason
Dad abandoned why help hurts ticking clock hurt hurt hurt...
JASON!
Danny doesn't bother dodging the fist that flies at his face. It's easy enough to phase for the moments it takes the young Revenant to become aware of his surroundings. He holds him through the tears and unnecessary apologies. He pulses safety, protectiveness, MINE from his core.
The rest-diner (oh, you silly thing..), has moved again. He can feel the familiar pulse of curses and greetings. Gotham then. They always seemed to end up back in Gotham.
Jason is getting up, heading to get ready for the night ahead. Jason needs to run the kitchen today. Dennis and Danny will swap back and forth, running the counter.
....
It's a busy night. Ecto-hungry liminals wonder in and out, some restless spirits aided in crossing over. They never questioned the suddenly appearing diner. The news is average, but there's a tension in the liminals that's unmistakable. They are afraid of something.
No special orders yet.
....
Danny...
Dennis calls through the comm, from the (now existing) back entrance.
So that's why they needed to switch out early. A child and an injured Bill have been brought inside the backroom. The child is using an impressively extensive med kit to treat the unconscious henchman.
Hello?...What's your name child?
T-Tim. My name is Tim Drake.
Let me take care of that. Sit over here and drink this. They'll bring your food out shortly.
I didn't order...
Just relax. You've done enough. You're safe here.
Tim is quiet, half passed out, as Danny checks Bill over. The leg is the worst part, thoroughly splinted. There's a concerning head wound, but he'll live. A quick duplicate takes him out to get him back to the safety of the Goonien.
The kid eats his meal almost in silence, tears dripping down his face as the stress of the last months falls away. Danny leaves him in peace to finish the evening rush.
....
The kitchen kicks him out for Dennis. Jason doesn't like being in Gotham. Even with the diners comfortable energy, he's left restless and itching with a hunger he doesn't want to acknowledge. His blood calls out to hunt and repay.
He wonders if it'll ever go away.
With no customers to see to, restless legs have him pacing to the back...
Hey kid, you need anything?
Robin...? That's not possible. You're...
Dead? I got better.
Jason does not panic as the kid fully breaks down into sobbing. He is not lost as the kid (Tim, his name is Tim) clings to him like a constrictor, everything pouring out.
Tim, I-I can't come back.
B-but Batman needs-
I'll come back eventually, maybe. I'm not ready. What Batman does isn't your responsibility.
But-
No. If you must-
Jason hesitates. Dick wasn't exactly a warm presence to him, but if anyone could set Batman straight...
If you must do something-
The names, addresses, and numbers come back to him easily. Written in a shaky hand for a slowly brightening child.
Start with Barbie and Gordon. They'll take care of you if you insist on helping. Talk to Dickie-bird. If anyone can set the Bat straight, it's him....and little bird? Don't tell anyone you saw me. I'm not ready yet.
...
Danny sends a dupe to escort the kid home eventually. A part of Jason wants to keep him with them, but the diner itself disagrees.
They feel the shift as the Diner begins to drift again, onwards to wherever they are needed.
...
Perhaps Jason will leave the diner behind someday and let the hunt take him. Perhaps.
That day is not today.
Another DPxDC idea.
I love the ideas of Chef Danny and the AU's but what if Danny opens a small dinner/restaurant and sometimes people stop by for a quick bite but the thing is there is little to no real menu. Danny just comes out when he hears his doors open, greets them warmly, takes them to their table and asks for drinks gets them, before heading into the kitchen.
At first everyone is confused until a few minutes later Danny shows back up with food, food that is amazing and freshly made and HOW DOES IT TASTE LIKE MY -Insert childhood fav meal or preferred fav meal here- ?!?!?!
Danny's small place is at first very unknown but eventually blows up as a urban myth and when people try to find it, its very hard to find. Some people swear its outside of 'this' town, others say they found the place in 'this' city, others find it on long car rides in the middle of nowhere.
It changes location.
The only common real clues is you find it on foggy nights and the neon sign shining 'OPEN' is seen through the fog.

i lied, put your clothes back on. we're going to talk about the infantilization of tim drake and how the DC fandoms 'fanon' has ruined peoples perception of the actual character. that man is a menace. he is not scared of jason todd, he think's he's better than jason. like, jason todd was beating the shit out of him and tim still told him that he was the better robin. he was not scared shitless, he was planning his next plan of attack.
tim probably jokes about rematches all the time, jason too. jason and tim have beef, but like they're still brothers, they still care for each other. it's just that next wednesday tim's going to the outlaws current hideout, dressed in a party city red hood suit, and beating the shit out of him because he's planned this shit for years and now is when jason will least expect it. he's not trying to kill him but a few broken bones wouldn't hurt, and then he's going to take some of jasons blood and write 'tim drake was here' just to spice things up.
tim drake is a fucking menace to society and he would never let anyone forget that.

Jason, bumping into him on the street: Stalker says what.
Dick, snorting: Shut up. I’m on an errand for Bruce. You can come help me if you like.
Jason shrugging, falling into step: Sure. What’re we looking for?
Dick: Batmobile’s busted. He needs us to go find a tool.
Tim: *casually heading the other way, minding his own business*
Jason, yoinking a disgruntled Tim back by his collar: Well that was easy.

Tim: I thought Jason still wanted to fight me and I was like "what is this guy's problem?"
Tim: He grabbed my wrist and pulled me like awkwardly close to him and he was like "so are we brothers now or what?"
Tim: And I was like "ooh, you're crazy!"

Tim: When Gotham needed him, he was there. When the Batman needed him, he was there. He was a hero. Tim: But he was nothing special, really. Just a boy, who was taught--trained--brought to his full potential by someone who knew how. Tim: Just a boy…like me. Tim: I can do it. I know I can. One day I'll be as good as Jason. One day I'll wear the suit. One day I'll be a hero. - Detective Comics #618
no, Tim didn't admire Jason's Robin because he was better, warmer, more compassionate, more connected to the little people, more "magic" etc. etc. than Dick's Robin
he admired Jason for being a regular-ass kid who stepped into Dick's shoes and tried to fill them because Gotham and Batman needed Robin - a nigh impossible task because Dick was and is the best, as far as Tim was concerned, but Jason did it anyway.
very relatable! for a normal kid who daydreamed about being Robin! and didn't think he could ever live up to ✨Dick Grayson!✨ but was determined to do it anyway because he felt he had to, and no one else would!

Hello, yes, the Gotham Knights cutscene where Jason was trying out his new “rubber bullets” on dummies and Tim stepped right into the line of fire and dared Jason to shoot if he really thought the bullets were soft enough to be non-lethal and Jason recoiled in horror?
I still think about that at least once a day. 🥺✨

lowkey hate the second panal but let’s pretend i’m practicing loving myself
so like their middle child bond has been on my mind and also what if like Tim just waits for his brother to get home from his long-ass missions he takes away from Gotham but like months go by. and then one day his brother comes back looking like a zombie and almost as skinny as him and his heart breaks

Jason starts working with the Bats and he feels guilty. He is guilty.
Sure, he wasn't in his right mind during the Tower incident, not entirely, but he was in his right mind when he was planning it. The Pit could only take over for so long.
So maybe, when things start to get better between him and the bats, he takes up a case with Robin.
It's an easy case, but he's still impressed by how quickly Robin solves it.
Maybe Tim smiles when he solves the case and Jason ruffles his hair and tells him he did a good job--because god, Tim's just a kid; how could he not?
And maybe Tim keeps coming back after that.
Maybe Tim keeps solving all of Red Hood's cases before Jason can. Maybe Tim keeps taking over for Jason and maybe Jason starts to feel less guilty and more pissed off because he knows that he never fully thought things through as Robin and he knows that Bruce took on Tim as Robin because he did. He knows Tim is the smart Robin, but Tim has neither the right nor reason to rub it in his face, so maybe he snaps at Tim--tells him to get the fuck out of sight, tells him that he might not be the smartest person in the room but he's not some fucking idiot, tells him that he knows what he's doing and he doesn't need some fucking kid just going around solving his cases for him. Maybe, Jason tells Tim that he's not needed.
And maybe the guilt comes back when Tim leaves with tears in his eyes.
But, Jason thinks, all the guilt in the world isn't enough to override the anger and let Tim back in, not after he called Jason an idiot with everything but his words.
And then, maybe Jason is working a case and it expands past his territory and he finds himself in the cave, working with Batman. Maybe neither of them can solve it and Tim walks in, excitedly talking to Dick about something. (Jason isn't listening too closely.)
Maybe Bruce calls Tim over and Jason flinches--he didn't remember Bruce ever being that harsh when he was Robin.
Maybe Tim solves the case and Bruce turns back to Jason and starts planning their next step without so much as a thank you.
Maybe it's odd, to Jason, how Bruce and Tim don't act like a Batman and Robin to each other, and that thought sticks with him, bugging him whenever he has a quiet moment, so maybe a week or two passes before he asks Dick about it.
Maybe Dick's smile is sad when he explains how they've always been like that. Tim, always striving for attention, Bruce never giving it. Maybe Bruce's standards rose above what was physically possible in the wake of Jason's death and maybe Dick sobs himself to sleep every once in a while because that hasn't stopped tim from trying.
Maybe Tim was okay for a bit whenever Dick was in town because he could help Dick on cases and Dick would smile and applaud every little thing he did, but Dick lived in a different city, so Tim couldn't help as much with Dick's cases as he could with Bruce's.
Maybe, Dick says something under his breath--a passing comment about how surprised he is that Tim didn't come to Jason and try to solve all his cases just for a kind word or two, hoping that maybe the Red Hood's love of kids and their happiness would extend to him.
Maybe Jason feels his stomach drop as the final piece of the puzzle clicks in place--how at first, Tim came with cases every so often, smiled and leaned in whenever Jason said a kind word to him, and how, when Jason started thinking that Tim was doing this to spite Jason was when he stopped giving that praise to Tim, which had the boy solving more and more cases for him, working harder and harder without being asked just so that maybe--maybe Jason would tell him he did a good job. Jason wondered just how far Tim would go if someone promised him a smile.
Maybe the guilt is too much for him and he pushed it down, only saying, "I don't think he'd risk it--not after the Tower."
Maybe Dick has something sad in his eyes when he says, "He's done more for less."
Maybe Jason tries again to bring Tim into his cases, but Tim refuses, promises not to intrude, promises he learned his lesson, and maybe Jason cries because Tim has never asked for an apology after Titan's Tower, but one hint that he's overstepped and Tim begs forgiveness.
Maybe Jason focuses a little too much on how to bring Tim closer--make him feel loved again and make it clear that Jason just didn't understand what Tim that Tim was trying to help--make sure Tim knew he was welcome.
But maybe Tim refused.
And maybe, Jason got so focused on Tim that he stopped focusing on patrol and got over his head. Maybe, just on pure happenstance, Tim was nearby that night and he couldn't let anything happen to his Robin.
Maybe Tim swooped in to save the day and Jason grabbed onto his wrist when he tried to leave.
Maybe Tim apologized but Jason just pulled him in and hugged him--a full hug, one arm around Tim's back, the other, tucking Tim's head into his chest, and maybe Jason said, "Thank you so much, Robin. I needed you to save me."
Maybe Tim cried when it happened. Maybe, under his mask, Jason was crying as well. Maybe, they got closer after that, Jason, needing to be trusted to care for something and Tim just needing to be cared for.
And it takes time, but maybe there comes a day when Jason looks Tim in the eye and tells him that he's important and valuable and incredibly loved regardless of whether or not he's needed. Maybe it take a few years before Tim believes him, and when he does, he hugs Jason and cries into his arms, but it's okay because Jason knew it would happen sooner or later, and it's okay, it's okay, he has tissues.
Maybe Jason apologizes for what happened at the Tower and Tim admits that he forgave him for that a while ago.
Maybe.
Maybe.
Who could say for sure?

Tim: ...
Batman: A complication.
Red hood: A complication?! It's a child!
Batman: Well I see that!
Tim, talking to Jason: Oh you don't have to be offended, he doesn't know how I got here.
Red hood:
Batman: I don't!

Batman: It's actually kinda unsettling, how did you get here?
Tim: I followed the voices.
Batman: Oh, I didn't realise we were being that loud.
Tim: No no, not your voices, the voices.
