but what if i read one of your fanfics and then went to your ao3 account and read all of your fanfics and left a comment on every single chapter of every single one and you got spam emails from all of my kudos and comments and it made you smile, what then? what if i brighten your day with my words like you did mine, what then???

the :) AO3 gives you after telling you you’ve already left kudos on a particular fic is my archenemy because what do you mean :) ? what do you mean I’ve already left kudos here? have you read my favorite author’s work? look me in the eyes and tell me one kudos is enough. I’d give them a thousand kudos and my kidney plus my firstborn. what do you mean I can only give them one kudos??????

i KNOW the limited kudos thing is frustrating, but i have seen a reader who commented exclusivly, on every chapter, for an entire series, in 20+ ❤-emojies and the author was thrilled every. single. time. i've seen so many comments with simply "kudos" and the author thanks them.

authors are not demanding when it comes to praise. you can go 👍 or "good" and be confident thst you gave them a reason to smile that day.

Sometimes when I really like a fic and have already given it kudos once, I’ll turn on my vpn, open a private web browser, and go find the fic again to give it another, slightly illicit, kudos. I have done this multiple times to all my favorite fics

I’ve been picturing them at the jousts, maybe Chivalry did something stupid and both Patience and Burrich are scolding him while helping him remove his armor and they are both mildly annoyed because he looks good in it.

I had a thought about kudos on AO3. I know fic writers frequently express how much we love comments, and I really do love and cherish comments.

But kudos are also pretty amazing. A kudos means that somebody, more often than not somebody I have no personal connection to at all, found my fic out of thousands of others and chose to spend their time reading it. Bookmarks too are amazing, even the ones that are just marking an intention to read later. Just knowing someone wants to read my fic is flattering!

Even one kudos means that someone took a chance on my writing and spent precious time reading it, and I'm truly grateful for that, and honoured.

I personally always leave kudos after reading the entire fic. But I noticed a lot of people already leaving kudos a few chapters into a story or even in a 1st chapter of a new fic.

So yeah, that made me curious.
