fandom twitter is being lesbophobic again, so I'm going to write my piece here because I'm tired and I need to let it all out

if sapphics were just allowed to say "it sucks that fandom spaces ignote sapphic relationships", it wouldn't be such a big thing whenever we did that.

because the thing is that we know how fandom works. we know it is all for fun. we know that the reason wlw ships are ignored is a tangled web of external factors and issues that no one wants to really think about when engaging in fandom.

but it still sucks, and we should be allowed to vent about that in peace, just like people should be allowed to complain about not wanting to work, or how the food they ordered came wrong, or how they can't find a comfortable position in bed.

but whenever we dare to voice our discontent, we are treated as the villain of the week, we are called names and told to "write/draw it yourselves" (as if we don't already lol), we have people from fandoms we are not even in pop in our mentions to say we are self entitled jerks that want to blame mlm shippers for the issues in the world. we have our innocuous moment of disappointment screenshoted by a stranger and shared to thousands of people who will then distort our words into things we never said and never meant.

when we literally just wanted to vent about something that was originally just kinda frustrating.

but then we say "fandom hates sapphics" and we are told it's our fault.

riiiiiiight.....

the thing is that, due to a tangled web of factors i don't want to address right now, the impression i get as someone who's been in fandom since i was 9, is that people from all across the spectrum of gender and sexuality are interested in mlm and mlw content, but only (some) sapphics are interested in wlw.

and it's not about how women are written, because i've been in fandoms where women are on the front and their relationships are complex and carry the plot, and people were still foccusing on the men.

and it's not about the person's sexuality being "i like men", because i've seen plenty of lesbians and aroace folks getting engaged in mlm and mlw content without their sexuality ever being an obstacle, but for some reason other people can't do the same for us.

and it's not about the person's gender either, because if that was the case, the foccus fandom has on male character would never be an issue in the first place, since fandom is historically run by women.

man, if only we had a name for the societal issue that manifests in the cultural phenomenon of people not being interested in engaging with women stories the same way................. I mean, there is, but when we dare to point it out, people take it as a personal attack instead of a social critique. so i won't say it.

anyway, all of this to say that there is a reason sapphic people don't feel welcome in fandom, and it's been more and more clear everyday.

I frequently let people join my world in genshin and take whatever resources they need but my phone is sooo ridiculously glitchy that sometimes it causes my game to crash, but usually if I join back quickly enough it just picks up where it left off and doesn’t kick the other player out. But I let this one person in and they asked to get scarabs so I was like yeah ofc and the literal second they left to get them my game started bugging out and completely disconnected me and kicked them out. And now I feel bad bc I straight up was like “yeah ofc take whatever you need!!” And then they IMMEDIATELY GOT KICKED OUT LMFAOO 😭 random genshin player who needed scarabs if ur seeing this it was an accident I promise 🙏🙏 I did not kick you out on purpose pls forgive me 🙏🙏
