OK I know last time I said this everyone told me to read the books (AND I WILL) but hear me out. I gotta get this brainworm outta my head.

I just so desperately need MB and Gurathin to both interact more, and also MB to have to pretend to be a human in a larger scale context. Like idk the team have to travel offworld somewhere, maybe they gotta get back into Port Free Commerce or somewhere else of similar nature to do something Import and and when they get picked up they're like "Oh fuck we gotta do something about the whole SecUnit situation" and I know this is riddled with plot holes but that's not the point. Hear me out. It's not about it being realistic it's about putting characters into situations.

They decide best course of action is to get MB to pose as a human they picked up, maybe from DeltFall or they fabricate personnel records and make up a fake profile or identity theft. They go make it some custom clothes, they're fussing around ensuring the inbuilt arm lasers are appropriately covered so no one notices, but so if shit hits the fan it can easily (and safely) still access them without setting itself on fire. They find some creative way to cover the access port. They make it a cap so it can more comfortably hide its gaze by lowering it's head more and hiding under it. It's all a hand-tailored process.

They sneak it past whatever security there is to get it onboard, they're now full scale espionage, no one expects the funny space hippies to be capable. It's able to help them bypass things and sneak itself onboard avoiding being noticed. Gurathin gets dumped to be it's handler/direct escort because it'd be funny seeing them get frustrated at one and other (and being augmented he can actually help it blend in better under the same guise and cover story).

tamil is such a language. the pronoun to refer to more than one person ("they" in english) is also the pronoun to refer to someone you respect. the pronoun to refer to a thing ("it" in english) is also the pronoun to refer to children and pets. it's one of, if not the, oldest language. some guy came up with 1,330 couplets of seven words each with complex metaphors and life lessons because why the fuck not. there are two r sounds. there are two l sounds. there are three n sounds. pronouncing a word slightly differently could mean the difference between saying "school" and "lizard". there are several letters that exist but are not used at all. there's a letter that sounds like if you mixed r and l in a blender. it stole letters from sanskrit. it has over two hundred letters. its written version and spoken version could be mistaken for two different languages. it's spoken in the state whose name literally translates to "land of the tamils". it's worshipped like a god . . .

I will never find this stupid tumblr post again: but I swear there was a post discussing at what latitude in United States do you perceive a Southern accent, and OP called it the "banjos line" in a nod to the Mason-Dixon line.

I have lived in the Great Lakes region for the past 11 years, and you will absolutely encounter this transition from the Midwest to the Upper South at a point perhaps further north than you expect—coming from New England, I was very startled by the Southern accents of people from Illinois and Indiana. Unlike the Mason-Dixon line, the Banjos Line is highly subjective and depends on the native accent of the person perceiving it.

I listen to some of my Ohioan coworkers, and at this point I'm drawing the Banjos Line north of Dayton. (HOW do you people speak like this in Toledo??) Most people in this area speak with normal i.e. Northern accents—but I am definitely hearing some things from the more rural outlying areas.

(aka poster series?) and the other one is by engaging in Ideas (generally posts. or memes/incorrect quotes/etc.)#had a really really interesting convo with a friend irl about fanart and fandoms. they were really active for genshin and stuff and so the #experiences between large and small fandoms were fascinating to compare.. i think i prefer the .. intimacy(?) of just doing what i obsess #over instead of looking for the statistics and clout and notes now. the art i make feels more meaningful and intentional that way.

Thinking about how everyone has this complaint about how siblings don’t actually address each other as brother or sister. And valid complaint, I feel like people who write siblings that way have just consumed a shit ton of anime and forgot that for most English speakers, that’s not generally how they speak.

But then thinking about Ninjago, and how Acronix and Krux call each other “Brother” pretty much constantly. (And Wu and Garm actually, but this ain’t about them) And how Kai and Nya for the most part do not do that. The occasional bro or sis, which in my part of the world isn’t really that unusual, we do say sis here, but generally they sound more like actual siblings than some of the others on the show.

With one major exception. When they’re fighting Acronix and Krux in the museum. Kai and Nya hear the way Krux and Acronix talk and immediately put a ton of emphasis on calling each other “brother” and “sister”. They’re mocking them. Mid-fight they’re making fun of the way they talk. In universe, Kai and Nya notice that that’s a weird way to speak to your sibling. And I think that’s so fucking funny.
