What could be more hellish than that? though your handsome boyfriend makes it more than tolerable...

Light pitter-pattering of rain falls softly against wrought iron fire escape, a soft aroma of powder and flushed-skin spices laid a slight film upon the furnishings of your New York apartment which was a mix of strewn silk stockings, rugs and tapestries, and because it was Christmas: two delicately placed patchwork stockings made from dead stock fabric across an elegant carved walnut chimneypiece and an antique Christmas collage you'd scored in an auction down in the Cape.

But none of it, in all its curated charm, could compare to the beautiful boy who laid his head in the space of your lap. John's eyes closed resembled those in renaissance paintings when scrutinised too close, and was accompanied by a set of an annoyingly long lashes mirroring the color of ink that's been spilt from a fountain pen.

In all his dreary-faced glory: all tuckered out after a tranquil evening of dining on a mismatched array of foods completely incongruent with the present season such as 2 packs of lemon club sodas, a squash & burrata pizza, and a half picked at banana coconut muffin to share: foods that may or may not have been stolen from your head chef's storage pantry. In your defence the food would've had to go in the trash anyway... If you really thought about it you did them a favour in taking the food!

In service of both you and John's shared distain for the Christmas craze and chaoticness you'd both decided to give each other your presents on Christmas Eve instead of on the big day.

The very presents in question were as follows: John got you a beautiful perfume along with a first edition, signed 'Journals of Anaïs Nin hardcover.

In your case, you got John a limited edition cologne with the tagline "Wear En Plein Air if you want to smell like an unassuming art critic on his way to an orgy." Classy. To go along with the scent you got him this years Art Press magazine issue, lately he'd been talking a lot about possibly creating a magazine: you thought it was a terrific idea but he wasn't so sure it would land.

The gift-giving hour had long passed and before you knew it the both of you had ended up splayed out on top of each other on your bed: an early twentieth century opium bed with a pierced lattice panels. A statement piece in your bedroom that you were very proud of winning in an especially hard auction at Christie's Rockefeller plaza location.

The snacking continued from the floor of the kitchen to the bed, where John began shovelling crumbs of a coconut muffin with reckless abandon: defiling your freshly put-on winter goose-down duvet.

"C'mon John you know I just got this cleaned. You watched me buy it like last week!" you say jokingly, yet your movements betray otherwise: frantically moving the palm of your hands over the duvet trying to brush away the crumbs onto the hardwood floors—an almost unbelievable score for an apartment in the city.

"Baby you're way too tense, let the holiday cheer wash over you!" he says sarcastically with that kind of eat-shit grin he nearly always dons.

"Well i've decided to reject that holiday cheer, I'm too stressed out having to figure out your families fucked up dynamics on top of trying not to piss of your sister—making her hate me more than she already does"

Wiping away the coconut flakes from your chin with his fingers, to which he proceeds to place those same fingers in his mouth, making an almost comically suggestive motion: to which you giggle alongside him.

It's interesting how you can almost see the cogs turn in his mind—it's funny how the longer you get to know him you can almost predicate the exact moment a thought enters his head "Speaking of, I forgot to ask you what you got for my mother for when we go down to the cape tomorrow?"

"Wait I thought you were handling the presents for your family this year. I-I mean she is your mom after all John"

It's at this moment that you immediately understand that he did not have the Christmas presents handled in the slightest.

Oh, fuck.

So that is what transpired to have the two of you traipsing around New York City at a blistering 7 pm on Christmas Eve like total and utter idiots.

After the utter shock of not having organised a Christmas present the night before Christmas set in you both scrambled into action changing out of clothes you called "house clothes" into respectable "outdoor clothes".

You chose a practical uniform for the blistering cold raging outside: a slim-fit pair of indigo blue jeans, a silk porcelain turtleneck for layering purposes, and a camel cashmere belted overcoat.

The reason why you'd regard John as a man touched by a certain oddness, said with love of course, is no better exemplified than his chosen outfit for the blistering cold: a patterned cashmere and silk crewneck paired with some old gym shorts and a pair of uggs atop long cotton socks reaching his mid calf. Now, you wouldn't position yourself as a fashion icon but you won't pretend you didn't second guess his choice of fashion, though you did relent when you saw the bashful smile fixing its attention upon your being.

Initially you were mad at one another for dropping the ball on finding gifts but fighting never lasted all that long with you two now did it?

Now, with that being said: Bergdorf's at 7:31 pm on Christmas Eve was certainly the undiscovered 8th circle of hell that Dante's Inferno conveniently left out. You and John had been circling the aisles for about thirty minutes and still: Nothing. As you traipsed the aisles for what seemed to be no short of a few miles all you found were picked over shelves with cheesy Christmas sweaters made out of polyester and acrylic, and small cheese platters in tiny wicker trays.

And if you gathered anything from the few times you've met your boyfriend's mother: Jacqueline Kennedy, is that she has immaculate taste. And known for having a severe emotional intolerance for synthetic fibres and cheap butter.

So safe to say both products left would absolutely not suffice or bode well with her.

By 7:51 pm you're both defeated but as if an angel sent from the gods themselves decided to take pity on you John spots and item: beckoning you over holding his hand out. The item comes into your view: a 18" silver amphora vase detailed with dragon head handles—a little ornate for your taste but from the look on John's face the vase is a winner.

Delighted to be able to get out of this place you both move to the register, slightly surprised that there's not an outrageously long line before you. You're both quiet for a few minutes while waiting, you're broken out of that silence when you feel John's hand pick up yours and bring it to his lips: kissing each of your fingers wrapped in his hand individually.

Okay, maybe Bergdorf's at 7pm wasn't exactly as bad as Dante's inferno but safe to say you will be getting everyone gifts in November next year to avoid this very situation in the future.

High protein sweet potato, tofu & chickpea curry

PROTEIN BREAKDOWN:

240g Chickpeas: 15g 280g Silken tofu: 18.85g 30g cashew nuts: 6.2g 300g Firm Tofu: 42g 15g Nooch: 8.8g Other minimal amounts in spices and veg: ~5g

Total = 95g /3 = 31g protein per portion

INGREDIENTS:

👉For the tofu:

300g block of tofu Tofu marinade: 1 tbsp olive oil, 2 tbsp nooch, 1/2 tsp curry powder, 1/2 tsp garlic powder, 1/3 tsp salt, 1 tbsp lemon juice.

👉 For the Roasted sweet potato, cauli and squash:

1/2 a large cauliflower, or a whole small one, broken into florets Spices for roasting the cauli: 1 tsp cumin, 1 tsp coriander, 1/3 tsp turmeric, salt and pepper 2 large or three medium/ small sweet potatoes Spices for roasting: 1 tsp cumin, 1 tsp smoked paprika, 1 tsp coriander, 1/3 tsp cinnamon 1/2 a butternut squash, seeds removed and cross scored Olive oil and salt on all of the roasted veg

👉 for the creamy sauce:

The roasted butternut squash flesh 30g soaked cashews 280g silken tofu 1/3 cup nooch Juice of one lemon 1/4 tsp salt Black pepper Splash of water for blending

👉For the main body:

2 tbsp olive oil 1 tsp cumin seeds, toasted and ground 1 tsp coriander seeds, toasted and ground 1 red onion, finely diced Pinch salt 4cm piece of ginger, grated 3 garlic cloves, grated 1/2 a red chilli, deseeded and finely chopped (omit if you like less spice) Ground spices: 1/2 tbsp Garam masala, 1.5 tsp coriander, 1.5 tsp cumin, 1/2 tbsp curry powder, 1/2 tsp turmeric, 2 tsp smoked paprika, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, pinch salt, pinch black pepper More olive oil 120g grated fresh tomatoes or canned chopped tomatoes (about half a tin) 240g cooked chickpeas 1/2 a litre of veg stock

To serve: coriander, nigella seeds, yoghurt

I'm learning Unreal Engine 5.

WIP on my practice game. It's a Suika clone, like the dozens of others across the internet, but it's 3D.

I made the models myself, in Blender. Painted the textures myself, in Rebelle 7. Arranged the code nodes in the UE5 blueprints myself, admittedly with some advice from users more experienced with UE5 than myself.

No precise release date, but it should be free and playable in-browser by mid-July.

In the current version, not much is established beyond player movement, fruit spawning, fruit merging, and score keeping.

My must-do list:

Add code to limit spawning region

Add after-watermelon-combination contingency

Add loss condition

Add visual representation of next fruit to be dropped

Improve player movement controls (a bit janky at the moment)

today was supposed to be simple.

I mean... it is/was...

pulled up 2 of the radish plants. the other 3 are still flowering, but at this rate, I'll maybe leave them be until the cucamelon is mature enough to go in it's place.

did I mention I purchased 3 trellises that were on sale for $2 each? score. that puts me at 3 plants that will comfortably go in the space. i potted one of the new seeds yesterday and still have 3 on the towel waiting to sprout.

checked, sprayed, and pruned the eggplants. the yellow squash and diamond watermelon are going ham. the nasturtiums are starting to grow too.

one of the nasturtiums in the baby bush pot is growing so far and again, the 2 plants are doing nicely while one is still small. the green squash is moving along.

pruned the tomato plant, which took up most of my time. found the worm terrorizing my holy basil.

decided to plant a few more basil seeds in each pot... except for the lemon basil, which is doing quite well

added more fenugreek seeds. the new starter plants look very nice so far. I'm leaving them in the back, as the weather shouldn't be too horrible today. the sweet basil is getting sturdy again after the extensive pruning I did yesterday.

what's the plan for tomorrow? hell if I know. i would like to walk out one day and be like, damn. everything looks amazing. maybe a quick water, if that... but my brain *and nature* won't let that happen.

Wait i also just saw the post of yours. Don't make the decision based on whose 4* you have bc you won't ever use 4stars even if they're fully upgraded and i know this bc early game i wasted a lot on a few 4* that i now just never use bc i have enough for a full team of each attribute, even in the case of, for example, playing a sparkle Valkyrie song, my fully upgraded Mika 4* never gives me a better score than random level10 sparkle 5stars.

Both alkaloid and crazy:b are four members, so method 1) of which group do you have more members of the same attribute as the tour card? If you have 2 glitter cards of Alkaloid, but three sparkle cards of Crazy:B for example, it'd still be better to go for the Tatsumi card as the power of your unit is based a lot more on attributes and 5star-istry (lmao) and getting the characters who fit the unit is a smaller bonus. Method 2) whose cards do you have more? Both have three 5stars available currently, none of which are the same attribute as the current tour cards, so ig we can't go with "if you already have a flash HiMERU, go for Tatsumi bc it's kinda useless to have more cards of the same character in the same attribute" which is my usual advice. Method 3) are you missing cards of certain attributes? If you can't form a full team of one of the attributes, it's best to go for a card of that attribute, as attribute-matching seems to give the biggest bonuses (i've gotten better scores replacing fully-upgraded 5stars with fully-upgraded 4stars that fit the attribute, and then i've gotten even better scores replacing them with lvl1 5stars matching the attribute). Even if you're not missing a full team, you can compare the fully upgraded stats for both cards (93,440 total for Tatsumi, 95,386 for HiMERU) to the weakest card of the strongest five of those attributes in your roster, if the card is weaker then you might not use it as often, and it'd be better to go for the one that'd be stronger compared to your current roster. If everything up to now is still equal enough to keep you indecisive, we get to the subjective part.

Which songs do you like better? When grinding events, you gotta make sure you like the song you get the best score on, for your own sanity. If nothing else, having a flash HiMERU in the centre for Crazy Roulette will give you a good boost even if you don't have the rest of Crazy:B, whereas for the glitter Tatsumi, that'd be Distorted Heart. Then, which character do you like better? More cards means more fans which means more voicelines through ranking up the idol. Of course, also the outfit unlocked for the homescreen, and the SPP (and perhaps, which song do you like better here, too. I'm more or less indifferent to both cards myself, but prefer Artistic Partisan to Lemon Squash Cheers!, so I chose Tatsumi in the end). Both their support skills are kinda eh, but Tatsumi's (decreasing the amount of voltage you lose after a bad/miss) is good for Tour event missions that tell you to get a score that ends in a certain digit, but it's also a pretty common support skill that you almost certainly already have two cards with it.

That's about all the advice I have. Well, if nothing else, from now you have a year to collect 30 memorial coins, and then you can get the other card, too <3 good luck!!!

We start with everyone at the backstage! It's finally the day of the live and Hinata says the fans look very enthusiastic!!
