“Not important?” Sebastian asks, raising an eyebrow. “It’s not,” Ava insists, but the way her eyes shift and the pause before she says it tells him she’s lying through her teeth. Badly. He wonders whether she’ll fess up about the nature of her not-important emergency if he pushes her on it. He raises his eyebrows. Makes eye contact. Holds it. I can do this longer than you can, he thinks as she wavers, feeling more than a little smug. “Okay, it’s maybe a little important,” she finally admits, cringing. “There’s kind of, uh… A hole. In my chicken coop.” “There’s a hole in your chicken coop,” he repeats slowly. “A pretty big one. Anyway, I can figure it out! I think it’s not structural? Probably? And, you know, even if I can’t figure it out on my own, it’s fine for now, because I moved them into—” She cuts herself off mid-sentence, her eyes going even wider, and there’s a full two-second pause before she continues. “I… Moved them. Yes.” He narrows his eyes. “Moved them where?” She grimaces. “Into my house? Maybe a little bit?” “Into your house? Why?” He feels the corner of his mouth twitch upwards, and he takes another bite of green bean casserole to cover it. “How are they a little bit in your house?”

Yes, Choji has three starter pokemon evolutions on his team. I couldn’t help myself and neither could he, apparently. Choji’s definitely been abroad a fair few times, both before and after becoming his town’s gym leader, and it’s like he’s got a sixth sense for finding the pokemon in each region that are going to give him the biggest challenge. The rarest and most difficult to catch have all been starter pokemon so far (and Castform, which he may or may not have stolen/liberated from a weather research facility in Hoenn). Cinderace is his ace (ha) pokemon, and it’s… totally because he’s got the kanji for rabbit in his name (correct me if I’m wrong but that’s why everyone uses the rabbit emoji for him, right?). Also fire types just felt fitting for Choji. Bright and burning like the sun, just like him! Hence why Castform is perpetually in its Sunny Day form. Monferno matches his acrobatics in a fight and Torracat is for Shishitoren!

As for Litleo… gonna be totally honest here, I briefly forgot Torracat existed and thought this was the closest I was going to get to a tiger. And then I did find Torracat, and I thought about dropping Litleo from the line-up. The eyes, though. Litleo’s damn eyes reminded me too much of Choji, so I kept it. Also it’s cute and I can very vividly imagine Choji play-wrestling with it. And probably playing soccer/football with Cinderace. Choji would dominate in a lot of sports but I’m partial to soccer, so. Might as well tack that headcanon on.

(Also, hey. If my very tired brain is misfiring at the moment and shishitoren’s animal is a lion, not a tiger? I did Litleo on purpose)

Last but not least, Charcadet. I said this in another post but I literally have no idea what goes on in Scarlet and Violet. I don’t know if this is a rare pokemon, or one Choji could feasibly have without completing some plot-relevant quest. But we’re throwing logic out the window for this one because I took one look at Charcadet and said, yeah, that’s Choji’s. No need to look for a backup sixth pokemon, that’s him all over. Tiny fire child warrior!! No regrets.

also am i going to go blind and die if i keep putting eyeliner on the like top waterline or whatever its called.

im sure depending on the practice, it looks a bit different for everyone (no pun intended), but for me, i do

the pretesting (usually 2-3 different machines before you actually go and see the eye doctor)

appointment shenanigans (booking, checking in, rescheduling, paperwork)

sales (which personally i do the least often)

scaning in + double checking paperwork to be saved digitally (which, much to my dismay, has been my primary duty for the past 3/4 of a year now 😭)

i also do things such as cleaning, closing and opening, and repairing glasses :D

since this is Normally a question i get a lot, ill also add some of the most interesting/noteworthy patients weve dealt with:

someone who had one eye where the pressure was over 50 (for context, the average normal level is in the 10s and 20s). we told them to go to the er asap and Luckily they listened and afaik, didnt have any permanent damage (these kinds of levels, sustained or not, can cause blindness)

this one person whos name is identical to that of a very well-known celebrity. all of us at the practice thought it was a fake booking the first time they scheduled

someone who layered on their daily contacts instead of taking them out and disposing of them. the doctor said there were over 30 in one eye. i have no idea how this was even done

this one person who came back monthly for quite a while after their appointment to drop off a Very Laege number of mushrooms to us. i had no idea there were so many meals you could use mushrooms in until then, so shout out to that person

honorable non-patient stories:

we had had a fire directly behind the building once. luckily no one was hurt, and the fire fighters were called quick enough that there was some how no damage to the building. it was also cool watching the plants slowly recover over time

one april fools during closing, i swapped all the gate locks randomly (among other things) so they were out of the normal order. there was a 3 day weekend inbetween, and i actually forgot about it and ended up april foolsing myself

EDIT: i realized i fully just didnt answer your eyeliner question 💀 while i am by far Not an expert in the medical or makeup areas, afaik eye makeup is specifically made with the proximity to your eye in mind, and shouldnt cause problems like blindness (other makeup and makeup remover is a different case). personally i wouldnt necessarily recommend it, but thats mainly just for sensory/irritation reasons

The other thing about the Boston area (including Camberville etc) is that it’s a great example of medium density urban planning with mixed use neighborhoods and access to yards and green space, BUT it’s nearly impossible to find a one bedroom apartment for less than 2.5k/month, so you turn 30, and your options are basically to find a partner to move in with, or to be a 30 year old professional with a reasonably well paying job and 3 roommates, which is why the city has such a bad retention problem despite being so young overall. Or you move to Rhode Island
