This is off topic but the switch direct featured a game called Disney villains cursed café, and it got me thinking, what if Yuu ran a café in twst
I saw the trailer myself and instantly thought of Twst! 😭
Maybe Yuu wouldn’t be able to have their own café (lack of capital for startup), but they could be the Mostro Lounge’s barista or something? They have what appears to be a bar-like area:
It could be considered a part-time job to supplement the monthly allowance Crowley gives Yuu! It’d also be a good way for them to spread the Magic of Friendship and interact with the student body way more than what is shown in the main story.
If that part-time job goes well and Yuu enjoys it, maybe it could be a viable career path for them once they graduate NRC (assuming they don't find a way back to their world)? With a degree from a prestigious arcane academy + connections built by then, Yuu could surely net some financial backers and set up shop in Foothill Town (or even on NRC campus!). They could even have drinks and sweets themed after the dorms of inspired by their classmates. Since a lot of the expendable items in Twst gameplay are edible, it would also be so cool if Yuu recreated them for their business. Friendship Popcorn, Leaping Macarons, Rich Card Cookies, Limelight Waffles, Lucky Cupcakes, Starshards, Friendship Tea, Secret Snacks, breads drizzled with Blooming Honey, etc. It sounds like the beginning of a cozy fantasy novel www
In Disney Villains Cursed Café because I want to talk about how silly it is, you play the part of a "potionista" and serve magical brews to various Disney villains in a modern setting. Your choices will influence the villains' ambitions and result in different things happening in their storylines! Some stories teased include:
Gaston attempting to impress his golfing buddies
Hook wanting to be the star of a community theater production
Maleficent seeking to dominate on social media
Ursula becoming a reality TV sensation
The art style is very stylish, and I'm always a sucker for games involving food and fairy tale motifs 🤡
Some customers you'll meet include Ursula, Gaston, Jafar, Captain Hook. Cruelle De Vil, and Maleficent (in casual wear!). asdbasoydasd The Mistress of Evil using her staff as a selfie stick in the promo art makes me laugh a little 😅 Gaston looking preppy and athletic is also super fitting, but Jafar looks so different in a hat and suit that I had to do a double-take when I first saw him.
If you pay close attention, you'll also find Easter eggs in the decor and background! For example, Flotsam and Jetsam are in a glass container on the left of your counter, and the Magic Mirror seems to be mounted on the right. You'll find customers seated at tables and enjoying their drinks (JAFAR WHY ARE YOU HUNCHED OVER LIKE THAT... I also spot what seems to be the Evil Queen in one screenshot?)
Yzma also makes an appearance; apparently, she helps you with ingredients upgrades to make even more powerful potions.
THIS IS SO SILLY... My brain is just superimposing the NRC boys in these scenarios and that magnifies the silliness 😭
Ursula's "I went to the beach today and NO ONE wanted to make a deal with me" gives Azul being dramatic on an NRC school beach trip energy OTL Maleficent wanting to be a social media influencer is so ironic given that Malleus doesn't know how tf to use technology and regularly breaks phones... Vargas going on a golfing trip... Crewel wanting a hot brew to take the edge off of dealing with unruly pups all day... TWEELS CRAMMED INTO A JAR FOR THE AESTHETIC... Paparazzi trying to sneak a photo of Vil at a café... Jamil being a chuuni by declaring his drink teleports him to a powerful lamp, only to reappear a yard away under a ceiling fixture lamp... This just SCREAMS of the NRC students/staff terrorizing a local business/j Not me hoping that fan artists do crossover art/art inspired by interactions in this game...

Local pharmacy has tick plushies! They're not selling them tho :(
The little ones can be bought through giantmicrobes.com !
The huge one must be a promo item commissioned by another company I'm assuming to promote their flea & tick treatments!

LEVELING UP (w/ your local reporter)
It’s pretty well-known that my blog always welcomes theories and ramblings, considering that I’m both myself as well as wanting to spread a bit of positivity out there. But months ago, I decided to take on the role as SMG4 Tumblr’s unofficial reporter, perhaps you might’ve seen a report or two from me tackling serious topics. Or you've been following along the #SMG4 news tag.
However, from what I’ve been thinking over for the last few days, two things really dawned on me: (1) while I may have appointed myself to be the community’s reporter unofficially, my words matter. Ofc I’m well aware what I signed up for and have been taking the role incredibly serious. The thing is: trust, accountability, and the truth is utmost important to me. Not only to spread awareness but to enforce the connection I have with my sources bc, at the end of the day, it impacts us all. The relationship between my sources, the community, and me — an actual example to game theory (thanks MatPat, a true icon).
Then, for (2), while is important to discuss the serious stuff, it’s starting to be emotionally overwhelming in my eyes. When I first started, it was simply posting the latest teasers for the SOTC arc leading up to movie. I’ve done polls and events (the real ones remember when I did bingo). Y’know fun stuff, I wanna bring that back somehow. After all, not all news is bad news.
It needs balance, and for that, I’ve came with a plan with simply this: by the people, for the people.
[ + more info below 'read more' + ]
INVESTIGATIONS
Usually, it would be my decision on what I should cover, it being serious or not. But I’ll allow suggestions be put into consideration if it fits the following:
if there is news going around in another social, and you believe it is something of value that could potentially impact SMG4 Tumblr, it'll be put into consideration.
However, if referred above has no complete story (like it has pieces here and there) and it still holds said value, it'll be put into consideration for a full-on investigation lead by yours truly. Though, based on previous experience, do note that this would take a while to do and it might lead to a dead-end. The investigations are NOT FOR THEORIES.
Changes happen on the official SMG4 socials, ranging from a teaser for the show or a serious hack. At times, it isn’t possible for me to keep track of them all. But if you happen to come across something, you can leave a tip!
This includes: show teasers, new Steam workshop items, changes to the Puzzles/WOTFI website, mentions of SMG4 in Glitch promo/posts, hacks (for both official SMG4 and our local community creators), discourse, etc.
PROMOTIONS
As said, I would like to encourage the fun news going around in the community, just to bring some positivity and engagement. This would has it’s own list unrelated to the ‘Investigations’ section with the following:
Unlike the ‘Investigation’ related posts, these would usually be a reblog. Think of it like an ad. So, it would be up to someone to make the post itself.
They must be COMMUNITY-INVOLVED! There is a difference between self-promoting your posts for personal gain/engagement, and wanting to welcome the community to an event. So, no, zero self-promotion (I’ve seen my fair share).
This includes: polls, character tournaments, bingo nights, ship weeks, project announcements, call for collabs, events, etc.
HOW TO SUBMIT
Regardless of the type (investigation or promo), suggestions can be submitted in my askbox. To be considered, here are the rules and other things that might answer some personal questions:
Please provide the necessary information — date of occurrence, the original poster, any docs or screenshots, etc. — if possible. Anything that can be useful for me to use. All media and links must be embedded. I will not be accepting hyperlinks for safety reasons, and yes, that includes Tumblr posts. Regardless, all asks will be reviewed.
When sending an ask, please put a magnifying glass emoji [ 🔎 ] in the ask!! That way, it's be easier for me separate it from the rest of the asks. Otherwise, it'll be up to my (theorist) intuition and context clues to figure it out myself.
The sent asks WILL NOT be posted in my blog or in the SMG4 tag. (1) Simply, they are suggestions and it would feel reductant to post about it twice. (2) There’s going to be at least one person who’s gonna leave an ask for a prank or something. But let this be clear, there’s zero tolerance for this kind of behavior in this blog and in my eyes. False leads could not only waste my time but time that could’ve been used for the news that truly matters. (3) I don’t want to risk spreading a potential virus or something with a link by accident, or for it to be a nothing burger at the end. That being said…
DO NOT spam in the askbox. As I’m not posting these asks, there won’t be any indication whether I saw your ask — that’s only logical. Unless I left an announcement in my blog for an absence, it’ll be likely that I have indeed seen your ask and I would get to it as soon as I possibly can. Please do be patient with me on that front. The best compromise I could give is that every week, I would post my status of the askbox (if I read it, if doing an investigation, etc.)
Feel free to use your account or drop your username, so I would know who’s who. As always, the anon option will still be available, bc it's only understandable that not everyone would be comfortable to come out for a tip, it's within the reporter's code to not betray this trust. HOWEVER, if due to certain circumstances you would like to speak with me, state it clearly in the ask and I'll contact you in DMs. (Just in case of technical difficulties, I’ll send out a codeword for you to use in another ask, it’ll be best to look out for it. Post will later be deleted afterwards)
To my moots, you can just let me know as per usual. You guys don't really need to do all this, simply send it over to me :)
This information will also be available on my intro post for future reference. Also fyi, I'm only on Tumblr under the 'midnight1nk' username, and I'm staying for personal reasons. If you have any questions that I didn't mention here, go ahead and leave a comment here!
Just as bringing the news to SMG4 Tumblr, I wanna invite yall to be part of it. Together united. And most of all, I would like to thank the people following along, to those who gave their trust in me. It's been a privilege to be your reporter. 💙
#smg4#smg4 news#smg4 community#ink rambles#(sorta) blog update#info will also be posted in my intro post (as pinned)

im only capable of handling at most two social media at once this is so sad. been forcing myself to use instagram to promo my merch to locals cuz thats their hotspot and its taking all my mental energy T_T
also a bit of update, for those interested in getting the doujin, ill still be opening a small order for leftover stock somewhere late december/ early january. as well as releasing the pdf sale in january.
however! i also plan open preorder somewhere in february together with my ORV merch. ORV fandom got a better Group Order support so i might be able to get them to reduce shipping cost for the smaller DCMK orders💦 do note however, for february preorder i might only be able to ship somewhere in april to the Group Order Master (GOM). It will first need to reach the GOM before it be shipped to you. so the process in general are slower depending on how fast GOM can ship to you
items i plan to include in february preorder:

**designs might be updated such as clasp and gradient background
#personal#the other option is FB and id rather kms than resort to that#also i guess i havent drawn that much while handling promo#furekami merch

Fight The Feeling Part 13 Grammy awards
Summary- You and Jack make your first official public appearance together at the 2023 Grammy Awards.

The next couple of days were very low-key for you and Jack. Now that you knew the gender of your baby, you spent some time picking out furniture pieces for the nursery. You had an extra room that you used to store PR packages that brands sent you. Due to how busy you had been, you hadn’t had time to go through it more than what your assistant had and ever since the news of your pregnancy had been confirmed, you had been receiving tons of baby items and clothes. Jack also had some time off so he helped you go through everything, not letting you move a single box as you sorted things into separate piles of what you were keeping at your apartment, what Jack was going to keep at his, and what you were going to give to friends.
You wanted to get everything organized before you and Jack left for Los Angeles, California to attend the Grammy Awards, where Jack was nominated for three awards and would be your first official appearance as a couple. Luckily, all the furniture that you ordered would arrive while you were away so you could get the nursery put together. You and Jack decided since you weren’t living together, you would both have a nursery, even if the one at Jack’s apartment wouldn’t get used often until your daughter was older, it made you both feel better that you both had one.
You also went shopping at some local baby stores to pick out some other essentials, your goal was to have as many necessities purchased before you left as you could. Jack didn’t get stopped by fans often when he was in Louisville, which meant that when you were with him, neither did you. As much as neither of you minded being stopped by someone who recognized you, it was nice to feel somewhat normal, especially because Jack didn’t even feel like going shopping, he only went because he didn’t want you to go alone.
The next day, you, Jack, and both of your teams were on a private jet to California. You were at the point in your pregnancy that your morning sickness had let up a while ago and you got most of your energy back, which was great for the next few weeks. After your and Jack’s appearance at the Grammy Awards, you were flying home for a couple of days, before flying to New York for a week and a half for New York Fashion Week. After that, Jack had promo for White Men Can’t Jump, and eventually the Kentucky Derby, and then Jack had one of his two Las Vegas shows, all before you gave birth.
As soon as you landed in Los Angeles, you and Jack went to your hotel room. Your flight landed late at night so Neelam and Claire said they would take care of your bags and drop them off in the morning, with you and Jack knowing that you had packed what you needed in the meantime in overnight bags to bring to the hotel.
“Let me see your bag,” Jack said as you picked your bag up.
“It’s okay, I got it.” You said, walking towards the exit of the plane, Jack followed behind you, already carrying his bag.
“You were just complaining about how much your back hurts, let me carry your bag, please?” Jack asked again and you sighed softly.
“Fine, thank you.” You said as you handed Jack your bag. You both walked off the plane and to the car waiting for you. Everyone but your security, and Urban, stayed behind to deal with the bags.
You laid your head down on Jack’s shoulder as soon as you both sat down.
“Tired?” Jack asked as you yawned. You nodded, Jack wrapped his arm around you so you buried your head into his neck, closing your eyes. “How long until we get to the hotel?” Jack asked the driver.
“About 30 minutes.” The driver said and Jack thanked him.
“You can take a short nap if you want to. I’ll wake you up when we’re almost there. I know we have to get up early tomorrow.”
“I’m okay, but I’m falling asleep as soon as we get to the hotel.” You said and Jack laughed softly.
“Me too,” Jack said. You lifted your head from Jack’s shoulder before you fell asleep.
You managed to stay awake the entire car ride, which was uneventful since you were all so tired.
Once you arrived at the hotel, you, Jack, and Urban waited in the car while one of your security went to check in for you. Once they were done you were led to your room and given your keys. You and Jack immediately got ready for bed before falling asleep.
The next morning you had to wake up earlier than you wanted to. You needed last-minute alterations on your gown for the evening before getting your hair and makeup done.
Jack’s tan suit with creme and silver sequined sweater vest undershirt matched your silver gown. Your floor-length gown had a small train, a lace-up back, and a silver sequined floral mesh over the skirt. The top of the dress was a little plainer, a solid color off-the-shoulder cut.
You weren’t sure why but you were having a day where nothing felt right. You didn’t like how your dress looked, something about your makeup looked off to you, and even your hair felt weird. You assumed it was pregnancy hormones, but you were also nervous. Even though you had walked many red carpets this would be your first with Jack since you had announced your pregnancy.
Of course, pregnancy came with changes to your body, and while you knew that those changes were completely normal it didn’t make them easier to process, especially as a model. You were used to hearing people comment on your body but expecting them was different.
There was an hour until you and Jack had to leave and in what felt like the first time for the day, you and Jack were alone. Jack could tell that you felt off but he was waiting until you were alone to ask you about it.
“Hey,” Jack walked over to where you were sitting. “Are you okay? You’ve seemed off all day.”
“I don’t know,” You sighed softly. “Everything just feels off. I mean, I feel fine but I think it’s just stupid pregnancy hormones.”
“What do you mean?” Jack asked, sitting down next to you.
“I don’t know how to explain it. I just don’t feel like I usually do before something like this, Usually, it’s exciting, but this time I’m dreading it.”
“Do you want to stay here? We don’t have to go,” Jack said and you let out a small laugh.
“Jack. We’ve spent all day getting ready for one and for two, you’re nominated for a Grammy. Three of them. That’s a huge deal so we’re going. I’ll be fine. I’m not even nervous about the event, I’m just nervous about what people say after the event,” You said.
“Give me your phone,” Jack said.
“Why?” You asked.
“Because you look absolutely gorgeous and I’m not going to let anyone, including yourself, convince you otherwise,” Jack said as he logged you out of all your social media accounts. Jack handed you back your phone.
“Thank you, Jack.”
“You’re welcome, and you really do look gorgeous. I like the subtle matching.”
“Thank you, and I do too, even though I didn’t plan it,” You laughed softly.
“Also, if you want to leave at any point tonight, please let me know and we can come back to the hotel,” Jack said and you nodded.
“Do you know how many interviews were scheduled for?” You asked.
“Just one. Neelam said we can do as many as we have time for, I’m fine with just going one.”
“Yeah, let’s only do one interview.”
When it was time for you and Jack to leave, your group got into the car that was waiting to drive you to the venue. Once you arrived, Jack exited the car first before turning back towards the car, reaching for your hand, and helping you out of the car.
You slightly adjusted your dress, Jack’s arm wrapping around your waist so his hand could rest on your lower back. There was a crowd of fans surrounding the entrance that you and Jack both waved to. As you stepped onto the red carpet, your names were being called, telling you to look in different directions, you posed together and separately before walking further down the carpet.
“You good?” Jack leaned down and whispered in your ear.
“Yeah,” You smiled softly up at Jack. Your interview was planned with Extra, so you approached their reporter when it was your turn.
“Y/N!, Jack Harlow!” The reporter said enthusiastically. “The first thing I want to do is congratulate you two on expecting your first baby.”
“Thank you, we’re both really excited,” You said, resting your hand on your bump as Jack’s hand found its spot on your back again.
“I don’t think this is a pairing that anyone saw coming, you’re both so private so we all want to know everything you’re willing to share. How did you meet? How long have you been together? We’ll take whatever we can get,” The three of you laughed slightly before Jack spoke.
“Well, we met at a Met Gala after-party, and as soon as I met Y/N I knew how special she was and I knew that I wanted her in my life. I think we’ll keep how long we’ve been officially together just between us for now.” Jack said and the reporter nodded.
“Okay, so it was love at first sight for the two of you, at least on Jack’s end. One last personal question before we get to talking about your careers. Do you know if you’re having a boy or a girl yet?”
“We do, we just found out the other day, but we’re waiting to announce it,” You explained.
The both of you got asked a couple more questions about your careers and what was coming next for you before you were finished with the interview. You let out a deep breath as you walked away. You went inside and found your assigned seats early. As soon as you sat down you yawned.
“Tired?” Jack asked you and you nodded.
“Yeah, I’m so glad I’m only walking in two shows for fashion week because just this has me exhausted. Growing a baby is tiring.” You said laughing softly.
“Come here,” Jack held out his arm.
“No, I don’t want to get makeup on your suit.” You said but Jack wrapped his arm around you anyways, gently pulling you closer so you could rest your head on his shoulder. You decided not to fight it, closing your eyes for just a moment before you made an uncomfortable face.
“Are you okay?” Jack asked, noticing your expression.
“Yeah, just got kicked in the ribs. The baby has decided that the comfiest spot to be is near my ribs. I think I disagree.”
“Is there anything I can do to help?”
“Unless you can convince the baby to move to another spot, I don’t think so,” You said, laughing softly.
“We have a few hours after this before our flight back home, you can take a nap then, or we can cancel our flight and stay the night and just go home in the morning.”
“It’s okay, I want to go home tonight. I’ll probably end up just sleeping on the plane.”
You and Jack watched the show and even though Jack didn’t win anything, you both still enjoyed yourselves. You skipped the after-parties, ending up back at your hotel, changing into comfy clothes. Jack had a pair of grey sweats and a tank top on, and you had a pair of black sweats and one of Jack’s t-shirts on. Even though you weren’t together, you felt since you were pregnant with Jack’s baby, it was fair that you got to steal his shirts.
You could tell that Jack was slightly disappointed. Going into the most prestigious award show in music with the idea that you could win, but then coming out with nothing was tough. Winning didn’t mean everything and it was an honor just to be nominated, but it was natural to be disappointed.
“You know,” You said as you turned on your side to face Jack. “I’m really proud of you.”
“Really?” Jack asked, turning to his side.
“Of course. I meant it when I said I would always be proud of you. Just because you made a mistake, it doesn’t take away how much effort you put into your work.”
“I uh, wrote a speech just in case I won, but I still wanted to thank you even though I couldn’t do it in my speech. So thank you for being my inspiration when I was writing and making the album. You supported me even when you didn’t have to and I’ll forever be thanking you for everything you’ve done for me. I wasn’t going to say this in the speech obviously, but thank you for being such a forgiving person even when I haven’t deserved it. I wouldn’t be where I was if it wasn’t for you, I was a mess when I broke up with you, and I probably would still be. You are the most amazing person I know and I couldn’t be luckier that you are in my life. I love you and I’m never, ever going to let you forget any of that,” Jack spoke as he reached up to wipe a tear that fell from your eye.
“I love you too, you know that. I can’t picture my life without you, and I don’t want to. I know that we will get to a point where we can officially be together again, without subconscious doubts or worries, but in the meantime, I’m really happy with where we are in our relationship.”
“Me too,” Jack said as he pulled you closer to him.

Item description:
"DO YOU HEAR THAT HAUNTINGLY BEAUTIFUL SOUND? Do you hear that hauntingly beautiful sound? It could be the song of red lyrium rushing through every fiber of your being. Or it might just be your favorite record spinning over the Dragon Age Lyrium Idol Record Slip Mat. This felt mat adds gorgeous artwork to your turntable, improves your listening experience by dampening vibrations, and helps DJs spin records more easily by reducing friction. Featuring the lyrium idol as seen in Dragon Age: Dreadwolf promo artwork."
[source]
((Looks like the background map that they chose for the item shots is the Thedas map that came with Tevinter Nights. I’m also 👁️ at the golden-leaved foliage and the cracks shown in this image with the idol. those trees have been showing up now and again in DA:D promo art & concept art - associated with stuff/places like Arlathan Forest, the Veil Jumpers, yknow, like that Fade-y/magic-y locale with floating rocks etc [examples], and in the Golden/Black City and the big dragon’s wings on the vinyl album cover art. the cracks remind me of stuff like this and the crumbling effect in the new DA:D logo.))

You can get 20% off in the BioWare Gear Store until April 12th using my latest discount code BWAPRILFOOL. After that date check back here for a new code. alternatively, you can use my tracking link.

How To Compete In A Bloody Moon Popularity Contest
Step One: Create a promo video and upload it onto all social media platforms(unless you are Diavolo, Lucifer, or Barbatos).
Levi leverages his gaming channels, and Asmo his beauty and vlog accounts.
Satan films his in a library.
Belphie puts his time and energy into creating a compilation video for Beel.
Solomon does a parody of a promo video.
Simeon (with the help of Luke) uploads an instructional baking video.
However, the one that ends up on the trending page on DevilTube is MC. They opt for a simple room tour, pointing out different items and explaining their sentimental value. People adore how cozy and intimate the video feels.
Step Two: Publicly support a person or cause that means a lot to you.
Diavolo (who is escorted by Barbatos) spends his time in popular joints like Hell's Kitchen because he wants to get to know some of his subjects (and will help them out if they're struggling with something).
Lucifer decides to throw a party for a dear friend of his and offers to pay the tab for anyone who attends.
Levi and Asmo promote different social media accounts that have smaller followings than them in order to boost their numbers.
Satan works a few shifts at different homeless shelters, reading to young demons and feeding stray animals.
Beel and Belphie offer their services to people that struggle with mental illness by making sure that they eat a balanced meal and get a good night's sleep.
Solomon allows himself to become a personal servant to the demons he has a pact with.
Simeon begins hosting meditation classes after class.
MC helps run a fundraiser for a local animal shelter at Ristorante Six.
Step Three: Use your talents to create a piece of art.
Diavolo, Satan, and Belphie choose to paint, although their styles are quite different. Diavolo does a classic oil painting, Satan is an impressionist, and Belphie uses his dreams to create abstract works.
In a similar boat are Lucifer, Beel, and Simeon, who each compose music for the violin, guitar, and piano respectively.
Levi builds an intricate building on DevCraft (Devildom Minecraft), and Asmo designs outfits inspired by his favorite people and showcases them in a fashion show.
Solomon becomes quite the mad scientist by producing some of the most mind-boggling dishes the universe has ever seen (because he believes horror is capable of being beautiful).
After struggling to come up with something for a couple of days, MC decides to create a calligram of Luke.
#obey me shall we date#obey me mc#obey me lucifer#obey me mammon#obey me asmo#obey me asmodeus#obey me brothers#obey me satan#obey me levi#obey me leviathan#obey me side characters#obey me simeon#obey me diavolo#obey me belphie#obey me barbatos#obey me belphegor#obey me beel#obey me beelzebub#obey me solomon#obey me lord diavolo#obey me luke#i linked an example of a calligram so that you could get an idea of what i'm talking about

Road To The Kingdom - Before The Dawn YouTube Shorts
The three 'Before The Dawn' short films were created by Motherboard in association with 20th Century Fox, the studio running the Planet of the Apes films. They were aired as promos in the months before Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, meant to bridge the gap between Rise and Dawn. They focus on human survivors trying to make it through each day as society falls apart around them.
Spread Of Simian Flu takes place in Year 1 post-outbreak and features a family where the mother is locked in quarantine while the father and daughter visit her. The mother tries to be cheery for her daughter while the father lies about them having a safe place to live. It is bittersweet to see the family on both sides of the quarantine glass lying to the other to keep their spirits up. They hold onto hope for one another while searching for food and shelter.
Struggling To Survive is five years after the outbreak. The focus of this short is a woman and the boy in her care trying to survive while power begins to fail in the city. She finds luxury items and trades them for food and other necessities, thinking on how those she trades with are clinging to the past rather than planning for the future. This internal monologue is very condescending, a stark contrast to the strained but still present hope of the family in the first short. Perhaps that was the intent, showing the bitterness needed to survive as the years go on.
Story of the Gun covers a full decade through the fall of society. As the title states, a shotgun is the main character of this video as we follow it from human owner to owner through the years. We don't spend enough time with any one person to get attached to any particular character (though I do enjoy the conspiracy rambling guy, he gets a chuckle out of me) but the whirlwind of moving from person to person really conveys the chaotic feeling of the apocalypse. The ending, with the shotgun being abandoned at the feet of unseen apes, hints at the violence to come in Dawn, one that will lead to the film getting nicknamed as simply "The Apes Riding Horses With Guns Movie".
Motherboard also released a 15 minute documentary alongside the fictional shorts called The Real Planet Of The Apes, a true story that I'd never heard before: an island in Liberia where chimpanzees who were once laboratory test apes are the sole inhabitants and many humans fear to visit. Though not having anything to do with the fictional POTA, it is interesting to see apes interacting with humans. They are gentle and playful with humans they trust but can be aggressive to those they don't know, with locals telling tourists they will be killed if they go there. Major content warning for this short; it talks about and shows videos of real world ape testing and injuries, as well as human death/murder, starvation and violence. The good news is that, as of a 2022 article, the apes are still being cared for by the locals.
The video shorts are a fun little dive into the collapse of human society; personally I'll never pass up the opportunity to see that in fiction. They're good quality for being promotional videos on YouTube. The main downside is there is very little to make them stand out as being part of Planet Of The Apes. No apes are seen (which makes sense; they likely didn't have any budget for a CG ape), just alluded to through shadows and sound effects. Because of this, they feel pretty typical of any apocalyptic story without being entirely unique to the POTA franchise. But they're still well done, even eerier now after 2020 Covid lockdowns than when they first released in 2014. Watching all three fictional shorts back-to-back-to-back takes only 30 minutes so, even without any apes, they're a quick but enjoyable viewing experience.

Over $20,000 worth of stolen goods found in Southern California retail theft bust
https://ktla.com/news/local-news/over-20000-of-stolen-goods-found-in-socal-retail-theft-bust/?ipid=promo-link-block1

A Southern California pawn shop owner was arrested after police found his store filled with merchandise that was allegedly stolen by organized retail thieves.
Karlen Pogosyan, 38 of Arleta, is the owner of Allrite Pawn Shop, located at 9044 Woodman Avenue in Pacoima, according to the San Fernando Police Department.
The pawn shop was suspected of operating as a “fence,” a location that buys and sells stolen property, authorities said.
On Dec. 3, police served a search warrant at the shop. During the bust, they discovered over $20,000 worth of suspected stolen merchandise. Many of the items were taken from retailers such as Target and JCPenney.
Photos of the bust showed a large collection of goods including expensive household and kitchen appliances, watches, tools, toy sets, and more.
Pogosyan was arrested and booked on one felony count of receiving stolen property. He is scheduled to appear in court later this month. 7 arrested, over $200,000 worth of Nike sneakers discovered in SoCal theft bust
“With the holiday season underway, the SFPD urges residents to stay vigilant and take precautions to safeguard their belongings, including keeping shopping bags, purses, and wallets out of sight and securely stored,” the police department said.

I think it would be an interesting AU of Trapsmith Kevin if he was one of Batman's early years, maybe from the Silver Age, villain, but was one of his less harmful ones. Like a less lethal Riddler with him main fascination being using Batman as a test subject for the effectiveness of his traps, let's say Bruce and Kevin also know each other out of their masks by means if Kevin being Bruce's favorite barista. Like Alex is to Tim, maybe Kevin ends up as Alex's manager at the Cafe in the future or just becomes the outright owner.
Ahh Kevin being a silver age villain is a super fun idea to think about!! Kevin's got a lot of ideas for traps and just can't help testing them out! He does orders for people who live in the more crime heavy parts of Gotham at a low discount, so he pretty much uses Batman as a soundboard on how to make his traps better. It's also free promo cause who wouldn't want a trap that took the dark knight so and so time to get out of!!??!? He's got some great reviews guys!!! I almost want to say that Kevin took over an antique shop next to Alex's cafe, he loves fixing up old toys and music boxes in his spare time! He does however have a deal with any of the homeless kids that if they give him any scraps they find, he'll pay for it! It ends up going back to the community again in some form of trap he builds anyways! Bruce probably drops by the shop to look at some of the items in there when he goes to pick up a coffee next door!! Bruce will sometimes buy an antique to take home and show off to whichever kid is in the manor during that particular time. During Christmas time Kevin does a donation event in the shop to give to the local shelters!! Bruce will always show up and donate some sort of amount and Kevin's grateful, but tells the man to write a check instead of carrying around that type of cash on him after the 3rd time. Alex does do part time work with Kevin at his shop! He doesn't have to work crazy hours at the cafe because of it (Kevin fr nearly threw hands with the owner after seeing Alex's crazy hours) and has a nice place to do his college homework!!

round up // APRIL + MAY 25

8 reviews for ZekeFilm, 4 KMOV appearances, and 2 radio segments—it’s been a busy spring! April and May have been filled with solid action films, sketch comedy, and lots and lots of good reads. These have been the pop culture moments and items bringing me joy this season in the rough order of when I experienced them.
April + May Crowd-Pleasers

1. Triple Feature - 2025 Action Thrillers: The Accountant + The Amateur + A Working Man
Choose your fighter: Ben Affleck, Rami Malek, or Jason Statham. Your motivation: Murdered colleague, murdered wife, or kidnapped family friend. Your villain: Mexican cartel, terrorists, or Russian mobsters. Your second: Jon Bernthal, Laurence Fishburne, or no one because you’re a solo act. Honestly, I’ll take all of the above, even Malek as a skinny Jason Bourne/twitchy Jack Ryan in The Amateur (Crowd: 8.5/10 // Critic: 7.5/10). You can read my full ZekeFilm review of The Accountant 2 (9/10 // 7.5/10), and watch my review of A Working Man (9/10 // 7/10) on KMOV:

2. Thunderbolts* (2025)
Thunderbolts* may not be a game-changer for superhero movies or for the MCU, but it does feel like a reset in the right direction, and here's where it ranks for me in the MCU. Read my full review for ZekeFilm. Crowd: 9/10 // Critic: 7.5/10

3. SNL Round Up
You have three agenda items to make your weekend immediately better…
A) Add some silliness to your day with these Saturday Night Live sketches:
“Mascara Commercial” (5014 with Lady Gaga)
“Weekend Update: Lord Gaga on His Unwavering Support for His Wife Lady Gaga” (5014) - Truly shocking this hasn’t been an SNL bit before
“Big Dumb Line ft. Joe Jonas” (5015 with Mikey Madison)
“Monologue” (5016 with Jack Black)
“Indiana Jones” (5016)
“One Uppers” (5016)
“Weekend Update: Ego Nwodim on the White House Correspondents' Dinner” (5016)
“Monologue” (5017 with Jon Hamm)
“Check to Check Business News” (5017) - Too relatable
“Weekend Update: Chen Biao on Trump's China Tariffs” (5017)
“Monologue” (5018 with Quinta Brunson)
“Will and Todd’s Radical Experience” (5018)
“Forever 31” (5018) - Again, too relatable
“Service Dogs” (5019 with Walton Goggins) - I am pro-real dogs on live television
“Weekend Update: A Guy Who Just Walked into a Spiderweb on Trump's Tariffs” (5019) - Again (again), too relatable
“Scarlett Johansson Is Saved…” - I don’t usually share promo bits, but this one got me
"Local News Stories” (5020 with Scarlett Johansson)
“Please Don't Destroy - First Class ft. Bad Bunny” (5020)
B) Check out the Questlove-directed music documentary Ladies & Gentlemen… 50 Years of SNL Music on Peacock. Even though it’s self-congratulatory, the mash-up montages are worth the price of admission.
C) And still riding on the high of SNL 50, these GQ articles capture a cornucopia of memories from every era of the series:
"SNL 50 Reminded Us Why Saturday Night Live Still Matters," GQ.com (2025)
“50 Saturday Night Live Cast Members Talk About What It’s Like to Audition for Saturday Night Live—And How They Celebrated Getting Hired,” GQ.com (2025)

“50 Saturday Night Live Cast Members Recall Their Most Unbelievable, Thrilling, and Embarrassing Guest-Host Encounters,” GQ.com (2025)

4. Everybody’s Live With John Mulaney (2025-)
It’s unclear to me why more clips aren’t available from the new season of Everybody’s Live—which 12 episodes later I still think is a worse title than Everybody’s in L.A.—but don’t let that stop you from watching every weird, wonderful episode from start-to-finish. (Trust me, you don’t want to miss Richard Kind behaving like Gene Simmons after a “head injury.”) Who thinks to interview Michael Jackson’s chimp? Who is willing to share their failure in booking Bone Thugs-N-Harmony? Who thinks to have 11 actors from Death of a Salesman perform its famous monologue simultaneously? Every week John Mulaney and his writers give me something I never knew I wanted, and I can only help they’ll return for another season of hanging up on callers, discussing dinosaur skeletal construction, and encouraging men to Know Your H.
“11 Willy Lomans”
“Netflix AI Executive Assistant“
“John Mulaney's Bone Thugs-N-Harmony Story”
“How Ray Lewis Changed John Mulaney’s Life"
“Bubbles Jackson Interview”
“The Making of a Charli xcx Joke”
“John Mulaney Does Not Think Dinosaurs Are Put Together Correctly”
“Terminator 2 Stunt Performer Focus Group”
“Ayo Edebiri’s Letterboxd Review of Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney”
“John vs. Richard Kind's New Girlfriend”
“What If Seinfeld Was Phish”
"Who are John Mulaney and Andy Samberg Based On?”

5. Karate Kid: Legends (2025)
Karate and kung fu team up for the best Karate Kid since 1984 in this legacy sequel. Read my full review for ZekeFilm or watch my KMOV review for more.
MORE APRIL + MAY CROWD-PLEASERS // Honeybee by BØRNS (2025) has become a go-to part of my spring soundtrack // The Third Gilmore Girl by Kelly Bishop (2024) brings insight into the challenging careers of actors and dancers in addition to must-read behind-the-scenes stories from the set of Gilmore Girls //Companion (2025) is a sneakily thoughtful horror movie about using and abusing people (and thankfully, light on the horror) // Please put Dave Bautista in more junky action movies like The Killer’s Game (2024) // G20 (2025) isn’t my first choice for a movie in which Viola Davis plays the President, but it’s pretty fun for fans of White House Down and 24 // Music for People Who Believe in Love by Joe Jonas (2025) proves heartbreak pop needn’t be malaise
April + May Critic Picks

1. Warfare (2025)
This real-time war film starring the next generation of Hollywood leading men is light on story but heavy on realism. Watch my KMOV review. Crowd: 7.5/10 // Critic: 8/10

2. Slouching Towards Bethlehem by John Didion (1968)
Joan Didion’s writing has been one of my blind spots, but I’d happily continue looking into her work. This collection of essays is full of California nostalgia (Californiostalgia?) and observations on the cultural changes of the ‘60s, especially the tour de force title work. Other highlights: a tribute to the myth of John Wayne (“John Wayne: A Love Song”), proof every decade complains they live in the worst era for film (“I Can’t Get That Monster Out of My Mind”), the weirdness that is Las Vegas (“Marrying Absurd”), and a journey through my own brain’s organizational hierarchy (“On Keeping a Notebook”).

3. Roaring: Art, Fashion, and the Automobile in France, 1918–1939 at the St. Louis Art Museum
So nice I drove by twice! The St. Louis Art Museum’s current featured exhibit (running through late July) showcases post-World I, Jazz Age, and Great Depression automobiles, fashion, furniture, photography, and art that captures the massive world change in these two decades. My biggest takeaway? I wish we showed the same level of attentive craftsmanship and creativity on what we use every day.

4. The Phoenician Scheme (2025)
Can I explain the financial scheme motivating and structuring this father-daughter road trip? Goodness, no. But even if this isn’t my favorite Wes Anderson comedy, it’s no end to his hot streak. Michael Cera is hopefully a new permanent addition to his troupe of players, the visual patterns are still divine, Benedict Cumberbatch’s eyebrows are perfection, and it’s a perfect use of a small dose of Tom Hanks. Crowd: 8/10 // Critic: 9.5/10

5. Good Reads
As of late, I’ve been reading about trends in…
…culture shifts:
“Why America is Turning Into a Nation of Homebodies,” FastCompany.com (2025)
“Mental Health Crisis ‘Means Youth Is No Longer One of Happiest Times of Life,’” TheGuardian.com (2025)

MORE APRIL + MAY CRITIC PICKS // The West Wing Weekly podcast convinced me to check out Bulworth (1998), and I don’t think I can add anything more to their insightful discussion // Okay, JFK (1991), you convinced me Lee Harvey Oswald wasn’t the only shooter // Hard, Fast and Beautiful (1951) would make a great double feature with Challengers // Journey for Margaret (1942) and Bright Star (2009) have joined the long (and embarrassing) list of movies I remember crying in // I know why Children of Men (2006) and Melancholia (2011) are on the Big Picture podcast’s list of the Best Movies of the Century // Dorothy Dandridge has “it” in Carmen Jones (1954) // I’ve now seen all of Nora Ephron’s writing/directing credits, and Silkwood (1983) is another great character study of a real life heroine // Cool Hand Luke (1967) has that ‘60s vibe // Phantom Thread (2017) gives new meaning to the idea of getting high on ‘shrooms // Little Miss Sunshine (2006) is slight but sweet // Cinema Paradiso (1988) is nostalgic and even sweeter
Also in April + May…
I’m as shocked as you are Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning didn’t make my top 10 Round Up, but the heavy exposition weighed down its specular stunts. Read the full review I tag-teamed on with Jim Tudor for ZekeFilm.
Can something be deeply stupid if it knows it? Another Simple Favor made me wonder. ZekeFilm review
Friendship has some chuckles in store for everyone, but it’s more descriptive than informative. ZekeFilm review
The 20th anniversary of Pride & Prejudice gave me an excuse to rave about one of my all-time favorites. KMOV segment
Jane Austen Wrecked My Life would’ve been even more aptly titled Bridget Jones Wrecked My Life. ZekeFilm review
On KTRS’s The Carney Show, I reviewed the romantic drama On Swift Horses, which is…one of the worst new movies I’ve seen this year. Listen to my review, plus another plug for Novocaine.
On KTRS’s Max on Movies, I helped Max introduce a variety of interviews with Gilmore Girls actors he’d never aired before with tons of Gilmore discussion and fun facts. Listen to the feature.

Sonic the Hedgehog speeds his way back into restaurants with a Sonic themed menu at IHOP (aka The International House of Pancakes), and SEGAbits was there to sample Sonic’s offerings! Longtime readers of the site might know I have an affinity for Sonic food promotions, so much so that I dedicated a YouTube series to chronicling past promotions. When SEGA emailed me to tell me about the limited time menu, I had to make plans to visit my local IHOP to see how the promotion was rolled out.
I have not been to an IHOP in decades, so I did not know exactly how they operated, but it’s a sit down diner with table service. The restaurant was surprisingly clean, and I say that because I’m used to the more mom and pop diners which prefer to show a little more grease. As far as Sonic decor, the menus at the tables were all the branding I saw. I was hoping for maybe some window decals and posters but a quick search on their website did reveal that Sonic branded gift cards also exist.

The menu itself does not offer anything new or unique to Sonic, as all the items are existing menu items with new names. I will say, however, that they are all very appropriately selected with either the character’s color being referenced (Sonic’s Blue Blur Special being blueberry pancakes), a pun being made (Knuckle’s Chicken Sandwich) or a characters favorite food being utilized (Amy’s Sweet Strawberry Delight). The Sonic nerd in me noted that the menu was using renders from 2010’s Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing and in Amy’s case, Sonic the Hedgehog (2006)! This isn’t a complaint, it just was kind of wild to me that I was sitting in a restaurant in 2024 and was looking at renders for a game that was released the year SEGAbits started.

One omission from the physical menu that does appear on the IHOP app is the mention of making your meal “Sonic Style” which adds a side of onion rings. This little bit is probably the one addition that pushes the menu over the top for me. Pancakes and onion rings are such a bizarre combination that the food promo fan in me totally loved.

As you can see above, I went with Sonic’s Blue Blur Special and I asked the waitress to “Sonic it up” with some onion rings. I also added a side of fruit to create the illusion of eating healthy and had a side of coffee. The pancakes were quite good, and the onion rings were a special treat.

I even managed to take some “ring portal” photos with one just because I was in a silly mood. The promotion did not end with the menu, as a QR code invited guests to join the IHOP rewards program. New members received 5 points, and you receive 1 point for every $5 spent. After my visit I managed to rack up 13 points which I could redeem for various digital codes of newly released Sonic games or an exclusive Amy Rose costume for Sonic Superstars which sees Amy in a retro diner costume.
I’ve seen some fans online complaining about how the costume is tied to buying food from a restaurant, which is just baffling to me. The costume exists as a promotion for IHOP and the intention is to get new customers in and expand reward club memberships. Without the IHOP cross promotion there would be no retro diner DLC! The fun is in eating a Sonic themed pancake and leaving with a unique Amy Rose costume. It’s like in the early 90s when you had to buy Cookie Crisp to get a little plastic figure of Sonic standing on a skateboard.

Overall, I’d highly suggest Sonic fans run over to their local IHOP and check out the menu. It’s fun to have a Sonic infused breakfast and getting some DLC is a special treat. Here’s hoping we see more Sonic food promotions in the near future, my fingers are crossed for another Sonic movie Happy Meal this December.

Pinned Post: Easy Stitches Deisigns
Welcome everyone to Easy Stitches Designs!
Who am I?
My name is Clara, it is nice to meet you all.
I started cross stitching when I was about 6 or 7 years old - I was a hyperactive child in need of socialization. My grandmother had the idea of sending me to the local charity, where women and children would cross stitch patterns to turn into trinkets to sell out and donate the income for the homeless and the poor. I learned the craft, although I did not do much of it later in life. Come quarantine and I am in furlough. Whilst looking for something to pass the time, my grandmother calls me and talks to me of the times I used to do cross stitching. I have received several encouragement words and started again this craft - and it felt as if time never cancelled what I learned. And now, in Lockdown 3.0, I had enough courage to embark myself into this adventure, hoping it will last.
What am I offering?
Well, within this blog you will find several cross-stitching tutorials for beginners, as well as tidbits on projects and wips I am intending to show you all and some promo for the newest items in my shop. Of course my ask box is always open and should you have any question please feel free to drop by!
This shop offers cross-stitched trinkets, pattern booklets, ornaments, greeting cards - it is the perfect corner for any gift ideas! And you can customize most of the items to suit what you are looking for!
Where to find my stuff
Here below you will find everything I sell:
My Ko-Fi page
I post a lot of my WIPs on my Instagram and should you wish to look further I have a Facebook page and a Pinterest page for this shop.
Thank you for dropping by!
