Like, Nirei has this very specific, funny dialogue pattern whenever he wants to hint to Suo that he wants to tickle him, and over time it just became an immediate response for Suo to just, internally panic and anticipate Nirei coming after him, because he KNOWS he's too weak to say no to his friend, and also because he really enjoys the way Nirei tickles him; like, for example-

"Suo."

"Yes?"

"you know, you are so amazing to me, right?"

"Awe, how sweet of you-"

"And you're like, SO graceful. It's just- you're so composed!"

"...."

"And-and you know, sometimes I just wanna DO something about it, you know? Like, I feel like doing something but I JUST can't put my finger on what-"

Well, Noelle's Lost Weekend is nearly over... tomorrow my mom's back in town and we'll all be back in school. I know I said my mom was supposed to get back into town TODAY, but something kept her upstate for another day... not that I'm complaining. She's an adult she can be gone as long as she wants. Be gone for a month, a year, I won't stop you X) Extended weekends are fun, but it will be nice getting back to class... It's weird being away from my textbooks for this long XP With my limited remaining freedom, and my even more limited leftover Valentine's candy budget, I decided to head down to the diner and have some lunch... or, maybe just a drink, whatever I can afford LOL It's kinda scary going somewhere public by myself, but I'm trying to get better with it... I was only frozen outside the door for maybe two minutes, instead of my usual five. MAJOR improvement. Once I finally gathered my courage, I walked in and stepped up the front counter, staring at the menu WAY too long before figuring out what to get. I couldn't afford a whole meal, but I got some coco and fries to go (I've always loved dipping my fries into my hot chocolate... I'm weird, I know XD) I stood to the side of the counter, waiting for my order to be ready... it didn't take long, but it always feels so awkward standing there at the front, waiting in front of everyone. Once I got my food I turned around to head back home, before noticing Kris sat alone in a corner booth. I've mentioned Kris to all of you, right? I must have... I grew up with them, they're basically an honorary Holiday. They also just happen to be my neighbor XP I walked over to their booth and sat down across from them, setting my things down at the table. I said hi, but they didn't say anything. "Umm... hope I'm not disturbing your 'sulking alone in the corner' hour." I giggled. They shook their head. "Well, umm... are you going to order anything?" They shook their head. "...Do you want anything?" They gave no response. I slid my coco forwards on the table. "You can have it, if you want... I've got my fries." Once again, they gave no response... so I started sliding the cup back towards me, but then they quickly grabbed my hand to stop me. I was so startled they almost made me spill the whole thing! Then no one would've gotten any coco XD They took the cup and slowly started sipping on it. I stared confused for a moment, before shrugging and taking my fries out from the bag. Meet my silly little thang lovingly dubbed Shroomp by my friend. She is the new iteration of my persona Salty/Saltsour I've had for years atp, Salty was pretty outdated. It was very important to get Shroomp right since nonetheless Saltsour has established herself in several online spaces including this one and was honestly pretty iconic! I put a lot of effort into her successor since I wanna start being a storytime ytber in the near future and maybe even a vtuber on twitch.

She is basically a combination and a love letter to everything I love and everything I am.

She was originally supposed to be realistic and humanoid like Salty herself but I found her a bit too uncanny for a main sona. (And mainly rendering a realistic fish tank everytime I wanted to color in my persona would certainly prove to be hell, I needed something simpler, but also along the way I realized, something DIFFERENT)

Now to talk a bit more about what she actually represents that's so important to me. I packed her full of little things that make me happy.

I am still so confused about the ai situation with misadventures smp. Is it good? Is it bad? All I know is that these stupid npcs left a sour taste in my mouth XP

So from what we know at this point in time, it's basically a handcrafted Language Model (Generative AI) that is probably trained on non-stolen texts. (Martyn said the developers were writing for it, so I'm assuming they were writing the training data themselves)

The parts that are still pretty unclear is what kind of computing power is used (environmental concerns) (though, the size of the AI is probably not that big, so I would not be too worried about this?? (maybe idk)) and Martyn mentioned the Google Translate Cloud at some point, which both could still raise ethical questions

I wasn't really planning on watching the SMP to begin with (coincidentally because I'm too busy with my AI bachelor's program lol) but please do feel free to draw your own conclusions. There's still quite a lot we don't know, so it's really up to the individual viewer whether they're willing to give them the benefit of the doubt until we know more

There's just something interesting to me to see a character that is very emotionally open but very emotionally distant as well. Like "Oh, sure, you can open up and I won't judge, but you won't ever know anything about MY emotions" kind of situation? And she WANTS people to open up to her, but then she herself cuts people off from getting too close to her.

I think it's both because she doesn't want people to worry and because she doesn't want to acknowledge that she has negative feelings either. Like admitting its there opens her up to a weakness she CAN NOT AFFORD-

Is she the pillar of the group? Yes absolutely! But did she ever WANT to be? She is the 2nd longest person there, and she probably feels very responsible for everyone's wellbeing because of that. She HAS to be the one who guides people, because literally no one else is capable. (It would be interesting if Kinger was like that to her before he was crazy.) It probably frustrates the living hell out of her that she's put in that spot, but what can she do?

The worst part is that she does this so much and so often that it practically "default" in everyone's mind that Ragatha is ALWAYS going to be there—so much so that they don't appreciate her as much as they should, if at all. And she probably wants at least that. For someone to see her hard work and say thank you, but everyone is so fukin jaded already.

That's why maybe Pomni can be a breath of fresh air for her, you know?

Don't get me wrong, Pomni is a fukin mess, but at least she doesn't know the default roles of the group. So she would notice things much faster than anyone else because she's new. Aw dude, thanks for asking me something actually interesting, I'm more than just the world's best looking kidnap victim.

I still do photography, I mainly focus on bands and venues now. I get to go to a lot of shows for free because my shots get used for promotional shit like flyers and album art, which is pretty neat. The cash doesn't hurt either lol. I totally consider photography to be an art form if it's done right, but it's pretty easy to tell the difference between someone who cares about the craft vs some rich yuppie who thinks they can buy talent with some expensive camera.

My favourite song right now is private eye by alkaline trio, I always find myself listening to them in the winter months for some reason. I actually splashed out and got myself a cd walkman not long ago. It's pretty bulky, so I think I prefer my cassette player in that regard, but it's still good. The audio is a lot more crisp on it, which is a plus when you live in a noisy city. I think punk music has to be my favourite genre, I'm big on the damned, dead kennedys and the clash, but there's a special place in my heart for pitbull daycare, even though that's not really punk. I used to listen to them in high school because it pissed my dad off lmao. Good times.

I'm neutral about rocks. I think the most I've ever thought about them was when I was a kid, I used to huck rocks at trains with my buddy Scott. Not sure why we did that, but it kept us entertained.

I've actually got a newfound appreciation for bugs. The use to freak me out kinda, but when I was trapped in that bathroom there was this spider that had a Web on the pipe I was attached to. I was down there for a few days, and I actually caught myself chatting to the spider just to pass the time. I definitely lost my marbles down there, but it was nice to know I wasn't completely alone.

I googled that rubber duck isopod, and he's a funny looking little guy. I think that's one of the nicer animals I've been compared to in my life, my dad always said I reminded him of a horse- well, part of a horse anyway lmao.

Ants are cool, as long as they don't gather in my apartment. Had an ant infestation one time and it took my asshole landlord like three months to actually do anything about it.

Here at last, my observations for English P4AU manga volume 4! Same formatting as my prior ones, no holds barred for spoilers, and fair warning that I'm writing this off of notes from 5 months ago; so if I miss some details, I apologize. Hectic life shenanigans have limited my ability to reread the volume. xP

General Vibes

On the whole, I found this volume to be the best reading experience out of the 4 Udon-translated volumes. Aside from the persisting issue of conflating Sho and Minazuki via calling both “Minazuki”, as well as a few confusing absences of clarifying quotation marks, the narrative is cohesive and comprehensible.

I also think that it stands really well on its own, so, as I said before, I'd highly recommend Eng-Sho and Minazuki fans pick up Vol 4, even if you've been iffy on the Udon translations up until this point. In all honestly, I think Udon did a better translation of Vol 4 than the fan-translation that's out there on the internet, at least in terms of justice done to the characterizations of Minazuki and Sho. Their dialog, with a couple small exceptions, fit their expected lexicons much better.

(No shade to the fan-translation, of course! I'm still super-grateful that people took time out of their lives to give us some form of accessible translation long before Atlus got on printing an official translation, and the fan-translation is still pretty good with it's own wins.)

Also, Narukami's dialog was translated pretty well too, from what I recall, so fans of his might also find his inclusions in the story enjoyable. As for Adachi and Kagutsuchi... I'm not very well-versed in their characterizations, so I wouldn't be able to say. Adachi's lexicon did seem a bit out of character to me, though; like the underlying vibe is kinda the same as his typical lexicon, but the execution feels more 'censored', I guess? It's just the impression that I got, though.

Specific Things

• ...They were so close to getting it right throughout the entire translation, but they stumbled at the finish line. Literally – this was within the final few chapters, and may have even been the final mention of Plumes of Dusk in the story, lol. And it's definitely the same kanji and kana that “Plume of Dusk” is always spelled with, so how or why they suddenly fabricated “darkness” in place of “dusk” is beyond me.

Also, for Eng reading context, what gets translated as “the other me” is “もう１つの人格を” with a gikun of “ミナヅキ” in the Jap text. So whether or not that should have vocally been “the other me” or “Minazuki” is up to you to decide. ~(•_•)~ (And for anyone who wants the full Jap transcription of that text bubble: ”黄昏の羽根”ってヤツから生まれたもう１つの人格を消す手術から眠ったままだったらしい)

• I wish that translators would interpret Minazuki's use of “黙れ(damare)” as “Silence.” rather than “Shut up.” It fits his pre-established (by Ultimax-the-game) lexicon far more, in my opinion.

• Kanazuki, my beloved nickname. (Though, because pursuing lore details, I'm not sure if Udon's “the two sides of Minazuki” is an accurate translation in this case? It seems to be more like “the two Minazukis”, like how fan-Eng interpreted it, but I don't know enough Jap to tell. For those who want the transcript: ところで２人の皆月のことみんななんて呼んでる？皆月？ミナヅキ？文面ならまだしも打ち合わせの時彼らは大変混乱を招いてくれやがりましてね......)

• It's nice to have the uncropped version of the original Yu cover art... But I'm a bit sad that we don't get the original Sho/Minazuki back-cover as a poster as well.

• Interesting detail: despite reprinting and reformatting the title logos, they seem to have kept the signature color for each volume the same (Vol.1/yellow, Vol.2/red, Vol.3/pink, Vol.4/blue).

• I've already stated some of my thoughts on Ch.28 and Ch.30 here, but for a few things that I didn't cover...

1) Minazuki specifically thinking “The humans are shouting.” gives us an interesting window into his mindset at the time.

2) The doctors were shouting at him because he was climbing up into an open window more-so than just shouting at him in general, lol.

3) The Ikutsuki death report reads more as if Minazuki was narrating it rather than it just being Sho staring at information on a screen, which I think is a neat interpretation.

4) Sho might've been attempting to finish the 'Minazuki extraction procedure' that Ikutsuki began, rather than just blindly attacking Minazuki? I'm not entirely sure, but it's an interesting angle to consider nonetheless.

5) Ikutsuki spinning Minazuki as an “evil spirit” as another generally useful tidbit to employ in Sho characterizations.

6) “Murder pit”. I'm keeping this for my Minazuki characterizations going forwards, lmao.

• Generally adoring the larger page size, 'cause I can see more details in the art that also help me understand the context better in a lot of scenes. For example! After Tsukiyomi takes the full-power hit from Izanagi, I can see the clear signs of exhaustion and Minazuki pushing his limits in the continuation of the fight. His movements are more desperate, he gets pronounced bags under his eyes, he has a kind of wide-eyed look to him, etc. Which I think is a really nice detail, because it shows that Minazuki isn't invulnerable: his desperation to protect Sho is just that strong.

The dialog at the beginning of that scene also helps to demonstrate that: rather than continuing to think in fluent and complex words, his internal monologue is reduced to simple, fragmented instincts (“Can't falter... Must protect... Must...!"). Which, again, a very interesting window into how Minazuki thinks. Even when put under the physical strain of grievous injuries, his first instincts (in this situation, at least) are to hold his ground in order to protect Sho.

(...Though, the Jap text of the aforementioned dialog is a bit different than Udon's translation, lol. It's more like “If I... don't protect... I—" (俺が......守らなければ...俺が――...))

• I don't have much to say about the fight against Kagutsuchi due to not having the best focus when I read through that part of the manga. Hopefully one day I'll reread it with better success. ^^;

• Suicidal Sho? I'm not entirely sure, though, as the “思ってた” in the Japanese version of the text (死んじまうかと思ってた時...) seems like it could mean either “I believe (that this will happen)” or “I plan (on making this happen)”? I don't know what linguistic contexts lend to what definitions, unfortunately, and the visual context could support it either way. (Not to mention, I have no clue if the sentiment is being expressed in a literal or frivolous capacity, given Sho can be hyperbolic at times. >_>)

...Also, I'm not counting Sho knifing his own face as an intentionally suicidal action, because (to the best of my ability to understand) that was intended to be homicidal. It's just that it would have also had a suicidal effect on him.

• Shadow puppet-Yosuke, Shadow puppet-Narukami, and Yosuke are great, lmao.

• Translations of General Teddie's script.

• Lastly, and maybe bestly: They got!! It right!! They kept Sho's name in Minazuki's “What are you going to do to Sho, Kagutsuchi?” line!! (Context: a previous observations/musings post of mine [here].)

There's quite a bit of lore and actual storyline that takes place as you get further into the series but it starts off more just Lily being sassy and putting idiots in their place, haha

Debian 12 w KDE Plasma let's go~~~

I've got no idea why I didn't like KDE before tbh.... cause trying it now, its kinda nice~~~ last time I tried it was idk how long ago.... when I started messing around with linux to begin with.

It, unlike xfce, has a software updater so I don't need to use the terminal on debian~~~ it looks really snazzy tbh.

annoying problem that I fixed~~~~ also for some reason the icons and stuff on my second hard drive have reverted back to dev/sda for my main OS partition and dev/sdb for where all the rest of my data is... and idk why~~~ but the lock icons on everything in that drive is gone~~ and idk what fixed it......

also time.... the date and time was incorrect and i had no idea why given I've selected the proper time zone.... I was just really confused and idk why.... but now I did and it's fixed~~ I had to change the BIOS time to UTC

also still don't know exactly why I can and could get debian to boot and install perfectly fine on my machine even with secure boot and the like from a windows install still on. when linux mint debian edition just.... wouldn't......

stupidly simple fix but I'm happy to have figured it out myself~~~ hope I like KDE more than I did a decade ago. idk why I didn't like it that far back... maybe it was worse? or there was too many customize options and it paralyzed me?

but now I like it so far~~~~ wonder if I can do it up like windows xp/95? lol. throw myself into customize options of KDE and be lost here forever :)

slowly figuring stuff out and my preferences in the linux world~~ idk why I liked xfce..... the KDE log in screen is nicer and more sleek and modern~~~

will gnome stuff work with kde? if I install gnome games? I always install gnome games and then never play any of them lol I mean I'd assume they would but idk~~

idk why I'm documenting my journey with trying different distributions or desktop environments here..... cause I feel no one really cares..... but I got no one around me to talk linux to... even if I am still (in my own eyes) a newbie at it....

what was up with the clock tho? why did I have to set my BIOS time to UTC to get it to be local time? how does linux configure time? never noticed that before~~~

yet another edit: double check bios cause I'm a doofus sometimes~~ secure boot is still on but now greyed out and can't toggle it off, fast boot and something below fast boot are disabled~~

still have no idea why pure debian is able to load with secure boot on (permanently now I guess) and linux mint wasn't able to despite it being debian as well.... but debian 12 works so neat~~~~

bad thing tho about the "swipe to go back" is that I keep almost doing that while trying to scroll down~~ could just use the arrow keys but got so used to using the touchpad to scroll ...

He was a little surprised, and a little relieved, when Richard said he could see what Grant meant when he explained why listening to the Canadian Prime Minister's was soothing. Only it wasn't surprising, because it made sense. And French was a nice language and the Canadian Prime Minister did have a nice speaking voice. That kind of commanding and rational and put-together voice that made a good politician in Grant's mind. He laughed at Richard's addition about how he would find a politician soothing. Grant couldn't argue with that. "What can I say, progressive politics in a language I can't understand just relaxes the soul," he quipped back. And then, because he couldn't stop it in time, he let out a loud yawn. He'd been up late the night before finishing an essay, then he'd gotten up early to run before a day attending holiday events with his mom and May that had culminated with him insisting on letting the turkeys have his bedroom in the limo ride back to the White House.

Also, I remember sending a request b4 about being in a group project with the boys and I sent that when I just finished a group project. since its around the time the request may be released, ironically I am being assigned to another group project and this is considerably worse than my last group. At least I have one of my besties there so is aight hope u have a great day and hope this story did something to emotions (i dunno im bad wid em XP maybe happy or confusion?) 🍮

Oh my gosh, that was so scary XD So I was walking from my place to go see my dad... when from behind me I hear someone shout "HEY!" That alone spooked me enough to stop me in my tracks... I looked behind me and... there was no one there? I was so confused, but I figured it must've just been a rowdy neighbor or something... we certainly aren't lacking in those XP So, I turned back around and continued walking... at this point I'm already nearly at the hospital (it's not a very long walk LOL) Then right as I'm about to turn, again from behind me... "HEY, YOU!!! I'M TALKING TO YOU!!!" I turn around again and there's... someone charging at me????????????????? At first they're too far and running too fast for me to even tell who they are... but they are DEFINITELY talking to me. I'm obviously quite scared at this point... I want to run out of the way, but like a... well, me... I'm stuck in place... and they are RIGHT on my tail. JUST as they were about to run straight through me me, they suddenly stopped and once my eyes adjusted I saw it was... the police chief??? I have barely ever spoken with her... only really have when I've had to. If she had stopped half a second sooner, I think she would've crashed into me and turned me me to paste XD "Hey! Are you on your way to see your dad?" "Umm... y-yeah?" I replied... I was still quite startled... it's not every day the fricking chief of police chases you down. I don't know if she didn't rehearse the rest of this conversation in her head or something, but then she just quickly had... NO idea what to say XD "Well, uhh... tell him I... hope he gets better soon!" she exclaimed, before quickly walking away. After standing there dumbfounded, I went inside and saw my dad, then went back home, all that... and I'm still just like... WHAT WAS ANY OF THAT?!?!?!? NONE of that interaction made any sense... maybe she's just trying to get on my family's good side??? I appreciate the gesture, I guess... There's just gotta be less intense ways to say get well soon XD
