ANON asked: Any endgame ships for the Team Rocket Executives, Team Galactic Commanders, and the Team Flare Scientists?

Team Rocket

Proton - Has two kids, a pair of twins named Atlas and Lark with Archer. But that whole situation is a mess, so it’s debatable so they’re not what I would consider endgame. Past me flip flopped on whether Petrel or Archer was the father of his twins, but I’m set on it being Archer. Proton drops Atlas on Archer’s doorstep once the twins are born and peace’s out with Lark (Archer is not aware of Lark’s existence). Due to Proton’s cruel personality, once Silver reforms Team Rocket, he’s not welcome in the group even if he tried to join, since the biggest rule Silver is very firm about enforcing is that they can’t hurt Pokemon. Proton has a… pretty bad track record in this regard.  Thus why he ends up leaving.

Petrel - Despite his maybe fling with Proton, he does move past that whole debacle fairly quickly (unlike Archer).  He stays on with Team Rocket and doesn’t mind the changes once Silver takes over, since he’s largely in Team Rocket since the group gives him a place to belong. Due to his skills in disguising himself, Silver will utilize him as a spy whenever the safety of Kanto/Johto is threatened and he needs someone to gather information. Petrel does date around and ends up Wendy due to some cute fanart making me ship them.

Ariana - Is Silver’s mother so is technically with Giovanni.  They’re sort of still in a relationship, sort of estranged after Giovanni disappears (Giovanni leaves without telling Ariana anything, but she still acts as the ‘Godmother’ of the group, being recognized as their absent leader’s significant other).  Once Silver takes over the remnants of Team Rocket in an attempt to reform it, Giovanni does make a reappearance a couple years later, so he and Ariana at least tie up loose ends.  Since both of them do try to repair their relationship with Silver (try being the key word here), Giovanni and Ariana getting back together isn’t completely out of the question. 

Archer - He has a complicated relationship with Proton who darts in and out of his life, but what they have can’t really be considered a relationship. So Archer is technically raising their son (or at least the one son he knows about) as a single father (Proton is a really bad mother, so it’s better this way. Lark doesn’t…end up in a good place, being raised by him).  Archer works closely with Silver to reform Team Rocket and it was actually him that approached Silver about the idea in the first place. He holds the remnant of Team Rocket together throughout the years, but when he’s unable to locate Giovanni despite his best efforts, he decides his son is the next best choice (plus he hopes perhaps this will prompt Giovanni to make a reappearance).  He’s the closest thing Silver has to a right-hand man, since while he’s mostly fine with Silver’s changes to the team, he argues against ones he doesn’t think are possible to implement or make the team (in his opinion) too unstable and weak. 

Team Galactic

Saturn - Takes the remnants of Team Galactic and does manage to reform the organization, focusing on researching new forms of energy like he contemplated trying at the end of Platinum. He ends up with Cyrus, even if it takes many years post DPP for them to stabilize their situationship into something stable. Saturn has some parallels to Silver, both being omegas who take over and try to reform a previously criminal team, shifting the team’s focus to technological advances. As such, their groups do collaborate at times and the two know each other, although they can’t be considered friends. 

Mars - Despite the similarity in appearance, she’s not Silver’s older sister, despite that being an interesting headcanon I’ve seen  (narratively, it never made sense to me how she could be related to the leader of Team Rocket and not have something brought up to hint at the connection. Plus, since Gen 2 and 4 happen at roughly the same time, unless she’s a runaway like Silver, she should be back in Johto helping her mother with reviving Team Rocket).  Mars doesn’t end up doing anything significant after leaving Team Galactic.  Since she was mainly in Galactic for Cyrus, she has no desire to join Saturn’s version of the team, so she goes on to live her life elsewhere.  She’s the other member who has a high chance of ending up married, but since she clearly has questionable tastes in men, it’s not to someone good for her.  Probably ends up with a kid or two in this scenario.  I’ve considered Blake Hall from the Ranger games as a potential husband for her. Since that feels a bit like they would be the good second coming of Giovanni/Arianna and that idea amused me.

Jupiter - I honestly have no idea what happens with her.  She doesn’t really like children, so I don’t think she end up with a kid. Even if she got pregnant, if she didn’t get an abortion (the likely outcome), she’d put the kid up for adoption (but I can’t see her wasting her time carrying a child to term she doesn’t want).  Probably dates around and could possibly end up with a random OC, but is just out there somewhere, living her life.  A kind of cursed route I considered was her and Looker (get that man with the wrong purple haired girl) but I’m way more likely to run Blake Hall/Mars before Jupiter/anyone.

Charon - Single.  Serves some time in prison, but gets out, since nobody in the Pokemon world seems to remain behind bars for very long, if at all.  He ends up joining Team Cross as a scientist, since he’s always looking for ways to push his research to the next level and the group allows him a lot of leeway in what he tries (plus the technology has the potential to make a lot of money and the team will sell it to less morally inclined people, something Charon greatly appreciates compared to how his old team treated their tech). 

Team Flare

Aliana - More than likely single, but of the surviving Team Flare scientists, she’s the most likely to get married and possibly have a child. After Team Flare disbands, she lays low for a while and leaves Kalos to avoid arrest.  Years later, once Xerosic is out of prison and starting up his own research lab, he manages to get in contact with her, offering her a position as a scientist. She accepts, since at this point, she carries around a lot of guilt over her actions while in Team Flare, particularly guilt over the members of their team that didn’t make it out of the building once Lysandre set off the Ultimate Weapon. 

Bryony - Her and Celosia were dating during the events of XY.  She dies along with Lysandre when he fires the Ultimate Weapon.  In an AU where they don’t die, she would have gone on to be endgame with Celosia. 

Celosia - Was dating Bryony during the events of XY. She dies alongside Bryony when Lysandre fires the Ultimate Weapon. Bryony gets trapped by falling ruble when the two are trying to escape. Celosia stays behind to try and get her out, but both end up being crushed to death, as Celosia isn’t able to free her in time before the area they’re in collapses. 

Mable - Remains single.  Goes on to join another less than legal organization, probably Team Cross since that organizations likes to poach promising scientists when the opportunity arises.   

Xerosic - Single, but does start up his own research lab once he’s eventually released from prison.  He tries to use his research to help people, since it was what he use to do while working for Lysandre Labs before Lysandre decided humanity was a lost cause. Remains in Kalos.

Best Pokémon Villains Tournament- Opening Submissions!

As you've all voted on, our next tournament will feature the villains of the franchise going head to head in a battle to be the best- or perhaps the worst? Though, some of these people turn out to not be too bad after all!

For the first time when doing one of these tournaments though, there's not a clear cut way to decide who counts as a vilain and who doesn't! So I'm going to be trying out something new for this tournament- submissions.

The way this tournament will work is that we'll have two brackets, the first being a bracket of the individual characters, and the second being a bracket of the evil teams and other antagonistic organisations themselves. Both brackets will be open to your suggestions on who should participate- and yes, for once we will be allowing participants from games other than the mainline series! This is something I've wanted to try for a while now, and this feels like the perfect opportunity.

With that in mind though, there will be some contestants who get automatic qualification, and there will be rules for who can be submitted.

For the individuals bracket, the automatic qualifications include any named member of the villainous groups from the main series that the player battles at least once (following the below rules). Otherwise, anyone else must be submitted following these rules:

They must be a human antagonist in a Pokémon game

They must battle the player (in whatever form this may take consindering their game of origin) at least once OR play a distinct, individual part in the story (for example, most of Team Plasma's 7 Sages would not make the cut, but Team Galactic's Charon would)

They cannot have featured in the Best Rivals Tournament- this is to give other characters a chance to shine, and because though some are more antagonistic than others, the rival is a distinct role separate to a villainous one

For the organisations bracket, all main series teams will automatically qualify. Other submissions simply must:

Be a named organisation that works against the player

I have final say on any submission if I feel it doesn't meet the requirements, I would like to have a broad selection of characters, though I also ideally want no more than 64 characters as a maximum- or 128 if I severely underestimate how many submissions there will be.

You have until the end of this week to submit characters and teams, either in the replies of this post, as an ask, or as a submission. I hope this is all clear, and I hope you're excited to see this tournament get started!

Who is the voice of the female Deputy?

When I saw this question, I decided to try to find an answer.

I looked up all the actors listed in the credits, listened to their voices (in interviews, demo reels, or other videos), and… I’m still not sure who played the female Deputy.

While I usually find it relatively easy to recognize voice actors in French, my native language, it turns out that’s much harder for me to do in English. Also, it doesn’t help that they’re usually very good at changing their voice/accent and that, in real life, most of them don’t sound like the characters they play.

I still believe the person who played the female Deputy is also “Cult Follower Female 5” (CFF5), but it seems to me the actor used a different accent and tone so the cultist sounds a bit “villainous”. In any case, I didn’t find anyone that sounded exactly like the two characters…

According to my ears, though, the female Deputy and the female Captain from New Dawn have the same voice. Outside of cutscenes, the Deputy has 314 lines in Far Cry 5 (which you can listen to here, here, here, here, and here) and the audio files were all reused for the Captain. In cutscenes, so the “lines” that were specifically recorded for New Dawn, the character sounds exactly the same to me, which means the voice actor must have worked on both games.

I looked at the names that appeared in the credits of the two games and narrowed the list down to the 15 (+1; see below) likeliest candidates, so here are the people who, in my opinion, could potentially be the voice of the female Deputy, as well as, when the information was available, either in the game or on IMDb, which character(s) they played:

Again, English isn’t my first language, and after spending two days listening to all those voices, everyone started to sound the same to me :’) If you’re a native English speaker and/or have a great ear, though, maybe you’ll be able to more easily solve the mystery! We can do it!

*IMDb says Amber Goldfarb played “Noodle’s owner” (the woman who called Ms. Mable for her pet snake) but the files tell me the voice is actually “Civilian Female 6”, so Mara Junot.

How would you imagine Team Rainbow Rocket if it were to appear in a post-Journeys movie/special? For me, there wouldn't be any alternate evil team leaders involved. Instead, we'd have Giovanni, Matori, Gozu, Atilla, Hun, Pierce, Dr. Zager, Tabitha, Shelly, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Charon, Six Sages (Ghetsis would remain in prison), Aliana, Bryony, Celosia, Mable, Xerosic, Team Flare Admins, Team Rocket, Aqua, Magma, Galactic, Plasma, and Flare grunts, Brodie, Aldith, Schwarz, Weiss, and Barret.

That would be great. But since the Mewtwo movie and Mewtwo Returns special the ones in charge of the anime don't use cannonical Teams as villains :(

Also the new writters doesn't seem to care much about events from the past. They had lots of missed opportunities in Journeys °^°

Ash would return to Alola to visit his Alolan family and friends. All happy reunited, then BOOM. An explotion and mysterious grunts invade the Aether Foundation. Chaos y des-con-trooool ♫ ooh ♪ (muy pocos van a leer esto así que puedo escribir cualquier locura que se me cante)

Once the invaders flee and everything calms down, they check the damage. They seem to have stolen something... Faba looks scared and nervous but pretends everything is alright.

Then there is trouble in each of the 4 Alolan islands.

Teams Aqua and Magma (all the same as in the anime) in Akala island. Making plans in Brooklet Hill and the Volcano.

Team Plasma in Ula-Ula wanting to freeze the island.

Team Galactic in the almost empty Poni island.

Team Flare in Melemele. Maybe without Lyssandre because he is dead.

Team Rocket could be in Aether Foundation or the Ultra Space. Giovanni is the one organizing everything and stole blueprints from Faba. The one who tried to recruit but refused to participate.

Recently, I took a trip to The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art. There, galleries featuring many beautiful paintings were present. However, among those many paintings, one by Jean-Baptiste Greuze stood out to me. The label offering brief information on the piece seems to refer to it as Melancholy Young Lover, but I later found that it is more widely known as Meditation.

Meditation by Jean-Baptiste Greuze is oil on canvas painting in an ovular 53 x 43 3/8 shape in an ornate gilded frame that is reminiscent of Rococo detailing. The painting depicts a young pale woman leaning on a pedestal to the right of her in what looks like a garden. On the pedestal, two textured doves are on either side of her arm, looking a bit agitated. She wears flowing fabrics, one of which is long and seems to flow in the wind around her arms, showing both movement and line. She holds a flower crown in one hand on the right, while she holds her other hand on the left up to her face. She looks out, past the viewer, in an expression that The Ringling’s label describes as mournful. Pastel colors are utilized throughout, mostly consisting of cool blues. Her reddish tinted hair draws the eye and emphasizes her face. There is a distinct feeling of longing and sadness which is both shown in her expression as well as the sky that seems to get darker from right to left.

The French artist Jean-Baptiste Greuze, lived from 1725 to 1805. Looking at Meditation I had a difficult time trying to distinguish if it was part of the Rococo or neoclassicalism movement. The Metropolitan Museum of Art Bulletin’s journal article on him asserts him as a bridge between the two movements, and I am inclined to agree. Though, for this particular artwork, I would say it ever so slightly leans toward Rococo with its pastel colors and sensual image of the woman. It is unknown who, if anyone, the figure is based off, however, there exists a precursor, a charcoal and red chalk on paper drawing he made known as Study of a Nude Girl. A good amount of Greuze’s artworks seems to have a sensual aspect to them, which reflects what The Metropolitan Museum of Art Bulletin’s journal article calls his “erotic intensity” in his personal life. As The Ringling’s museum label suggests, in this artwork, Greuze tells a story about a woman who is missing a lover.

From a historical standpoint, Meditation is a fine example of a transition between rococo and neoclassicalism, with rococo’s pastels and neoclassicism idealized forms. Additionally, between the way the clothing flows off the body and the voluptuous figure, the painting is an example of Greuze’s eroticism. However, what I personally find most attractive about the work is the sheer emotion of the painting that most any viewer can relate to. Her expression, pose, and the gloomy sky all gives the feeling of a quiet sadness, loneliness even. Feeling sad from being away from a loved one is something many people have experienced one way or another, which is why I find this work so compelling.

Thanks to all your input and suggestions, we now have a final lineup of our Villains! And, oh buddy, it's going to be a big one.

I've had to make a couple of hard decisions, so apologies if there are a couple of Villains you were hoping to see but I had to turn down for one reason or another. I've tried to include as many of your submissions as I could justify though!

I LOVE your timeline!! And I especially love how you portray Jon and Martin’s relationship, you make it so so healthy!

I’m seeing so many ways to combine the timelines if you’re all good with that; like Mar can show up first and when Jon shows up your timeline can start to merge. Honestly I completely forgot about the Northwests 😅 so I am 100% incorporating that

The one thing is, I feel like Jon and Martin would be VERY AGAINST owing any debt to anyone after Helen especially. I feel like Martin would drive the whole “got an extra rib removed as payment for the first rib removed” situation into Jon.

And about the whole jobless situation… WHY DO I FEEL LIKE MARTIN WOULD BE GREAT FRIENDS WITH ONE-EYED SUSAN??? I just feel like years of living with Jon would teach him to translate Susan’s

Wendy and her gang would take exceptionally to Jon. They’d see his scars and find that super cool drawing them in, then hearing the wisdom he has to offer (not to mention his incredible stories of the apocalypse) and they’d stick to him. I feel like he’d give good life advice, and they’d remind him of the archives crew before everything went down

I completely agree with your saying Ford wouldn’t like Jon as much, but I also feel like Dipper wouldn’t either. Well actually Dipper is more annoyed by Jon, because Jon can’t give a straight answer to save his life (literally)

Ford would be weary because this is a new unknown supernatural thing that won’t give him solid answers

On the other end, Stan and Mable would LOVE it. Stan because he’s a professional conman, being cryptic is how he makes a living. Maybe he’d offer Jon a side gig as an attraction at the shack

Martin definitely became a lot more brutally honest with the Lonley, Ford and Dipper would like that, but he doesn’t want to say anything Jon wouldn’t be comfortable with him sharing
