Forgive the lack of update everyone who's been following along, I'm usually on amino or YouTube giving updates, it's very draining having over 5 apps to update.
Luckily however it's good news, the animation is very far in, unsure if it's middle or past that but, I've got quite a few frames done.
I'll update you when I can, but if you'd like more constant updates, you can find it at Book Of Woe on amino. In addition to updates I plan to have a large contest after this is done, it will have prizes for the winners and some of the participants. Hopefully I see you there 👉🕶️👉.

What part of your routine do you always try to skip if you can?
A routine that I would try to skip would be the morning exercises. I try to work out five days a week. It is often a battle of mind over body or is it the body over mind?. My day starts early—early, as in 3:30 AM early. This routine goes back to my office going days and even further, to my Army family upbringing. I sleep by 8 PM, so no worries I do get my mandatory beauty sleep. By 4:00 AM, I’m…

Transforming My Life: The Power of Small Changes in Losing 75 Pounds and Embracing a Sustainable Lifestyle
Tumblr media
At 252 pounds, my life was a constant struggle. The lack of energy, coupled with the shame and embarrassment, became tangible burdens. Each day felt like a losing battle against food and the unforgiving mirror. I desperately sought a way out of the vicious cycle that seemed to hold me captive.
>>UNLOCK YOUR TRUE SELF Eat Less. Burn More. Look Amazing
The Breaking Point: A Decision to Change
Despite numerous attempts to shed weight, I continually found myself returning to the familiar territory of overindulgence. I vividly recall the days when a trip to Chipotle meant ordering three burrito bowls and consuming them over the next six hours, a destructive pattern propelling me toward a potential train wreck.
Then, one day, I made the pivotal decision to change the trajectory of my life. No longer was I willing to subject myself to restrictive diets that provided only temporary relief. This time, I resolved to focus on the power of small changes, starting with the bare minimum.
Caloric Consciousness: A Gradual Reduction
My journey began with a simple yet impactful step—measuring my daily caloric intake. Instead of implementing drastic alterations, I chose the path of moderation. By identifying my baseline caloric consumption, I gradually reduced it by 100 calories. The results were encouraging; the scale started to budge, offering a glimmer of hope.
>>UNLOCK YOUR TRUE SELF Eat Less. Burn More. Look Amazing
Undeterred, I continued this gradual approach. Another 100-calorie reduction in daily intake followed, accompanied by the same watchful eye on the scale. As the numbers continued to shift, I introduced 10-minute daily walks into my routine, a modest yet effective exercise. Soon after, a few reps of pushups and squats found their way into my daily regimen.
From Walks to Workouts: Incremental Progress
With time, I progressed to more structured exercise routines. Initially, it was 1-2 rounds at the gym, then expanded to four movements. The journey was marked by consistent, small adjustments that collectively yielded major progress. It wasn't about adopting extreme measures or revolutionary changes; rather, it was the cumulative impact of these small, sustainable modifications.
Simplicity as the Cornerstone: Lessons from the Weight Loss Journey
The lesson learned was invaluable. Throughout my weight loss journey, simplicity emerged as the cornerstone of success. By keeping things simple, I gained focus and control over my habits. It became evident that sustainable progress is born from incremental changes that withstand the test of time.
The Sustainability Dilemma: Slow and Steady vs. Quick Fixes
The question arises: Is it better to embark on a slow, sustainable approach or opt for a rapid weight loss strategy, attempting to maintain the achieved results afterward?
>>UNLOCK YOUR TRUE SELF Eat Less. Burn More. Look Amazing
In reflecting on my own experience, the answer leans heavily toward the former. The slow, sustainable approach allowed me to build habits that not only transformed my physique but also endured beyond the initial weight loss. Quick fixes may offer immediate results, but they often lack the foundation necessary for long-term success.
Staying Fit: The True Measure of Success
Rapid weight loss, while tempting, can lead to unsustainable practices and a higher likelihood of regaining lost pounds. It often involves extreme measures that are challenging to maintain over time. In contrast, a gradual approach provides the opportunity to forge lasting habits, making the journey toward fitness a lifelong commitment rather than a fleeting accomplishment.
Conclusion: Beyond the Numbers on the Scale
In conclusion, my transformative journey underscores the profound impact of small changes in achieving significant weight loss. The key is to embrace simplicity, focus on sustainable habits, and recognize that the journey to fitness is an ongoing process. While the allure of rapid results may be tempting, the enduring value of a slow, sustainable approach lies in its ability to pave the way for a healthier, more fulfilling life—one that extends far beyond the numbers on a scale.

Introduction:
Great philosophers and thinkers have been captivated by the intricate relationship between the mind and the body. The connection between the two remains very enigmatic despite the advancement of science and discoveries. Various philosophical perspectives often offer relatable examples to grasp this complex connection. What's most relevant to me as a doctor is the rising field of "psychosomatics" which I will discuss at the end of the post.
Dualism:
Our dissection begins with dualism, a notion that separates the mind and the body as distinct entities. Dualism suggests that the mind, often referred to as the "soul" or "consciousness," is non-physical, whereas the body is purely physical. To make ourselves very familiar with the concept, we can give the example of a video game character controlled by a player: the character represents the body, while the player's decisions symbolize the mind - thus separate entities influencing one another.
Materialism:
Materialism, on the other hand, suggests that everything, including mental or psychological experiences, can be explained through physical processes. In this view, the mind is purely a product of the brain and its neurological activity. Imagine a computer program running on hardware; the program is entirely dependent on the underlying hardware. Changes in the hardware can directly affect the program's operation, similar to how the mind, according to materialism, emerges from the physical brain's activities. In real-life medical examples, people who suffer from cerebrovascular accidents, whether bleeds or strokes, lose part of their neurological functions once an area of the brain gets damaged.
Idealism:
Idealism turns the tables by suggesting that only the mind or the consciousness is genuinely real. According to this philosophical perspective, the physical world is a construct of the mind's thoughts and perceptions. To simplify that, consider a dream where the dreamer's mind generates an entire world, people, and events. In the idealist view, the external physical world resembles a dream, existing as a projection of the mind.
Neutral Monism:
Neutral monism offers a unique perspective by suggesting a "neutral substance" underlying both mental and physical phenomena. This neutral substance gives rise to the rich combination of experiences that make up our reality. Consider the concept of energy, which can manifest as both physical (e.g., kinetic energy in a moving car) and mental (e.g., the energy of thought and emotion). In neutral monism, this shared concept of energy represents the underlying reality.
Psychosomatics:
Amidst these philosophical views, psychosomatics provides real-world evidence of the mind-body connection. This field explores the interplay between the mind (psyche) and the body (soma) and how mental factors can profoundly affect our physical health. For example, stress-related illnesses, like tension headaches or stomach ulcers, exemplify how our emotional and mental states can manifest physically, leading to serious health issues. Psychosomatics highlights the significant impact of mental well-being on our physical state, bridging the gap between philosophy and practical health.
I treated a young Syrian man who was a war refugee. Years before the war, his right arm took a hit and was fractured, but it healed the same year. After the war, he survived the bombings, but most of his family and friends did not make it. He witnessed atrocities being committed before him. Later on, his brother was killed and as a result, his mother suffered a heart attack that claimed her life. He later came to Lebanon as a refugee to start a new life. When he presented to my clinic, he was complaining of right arm pain at the site of the previously healed fracture. The intensity of the pain woke him up in the middle of the night and along with it, he felt warmth in his arm and it was sweating locally.
Later, I managed to diagnose my patient with "complex regional pain syndrome". Little did I know about such a syndrome and how it exemplifies psychosomatics. Several trials recommended antidepressants to treat his condition - as well as the overlying depression he was secretly suffering from.
Conclusion:
The mind-body problem, though centuries old, remains an open question, and while we've explored a multitude of perspectives, it's clear that the debate continues. Psychosomatics offers a tangible connection between our mental and physical states, underscoring the profound implications of the mind-body relationship. From a personal experience, I witnessed the improvement of physical symptoms under the influence of an antidepressant medication. That is fascinating to encounter and since then, I always considered the psychological aspect of any chronic or acute complaint.
