i used to play on a minecraft plots server and roleplay on there constantly. when people would leave and come back, whatever group of 11-15 somethings that happened to be in the plot at the time would say "weba" because "welcome back" is too long, but we thought "wb" was too vague. it was used widely by everyone in the server. when i used this outside the server, nobody knew what i was talking about. got me thinking

Streamer!Jinx headcanons.

Just some basic ideas and drabbles pooled into one post. I see a lot of streamer!ellie and streamer!vi, but barely any jinx if any at all. I don’t know, I just think she’d be the funniest streamer ever.

Streamer!Jinx who got surprised when she blew up pretty fast. For the wrong reasons, Ofcourse (controversy, because she can’t keep her mouth shut), but once it smoothed over she gained a lot of following from it.

She has no filter. None. The second something pops into her head, she says it aloud. She deals with the consequences afterwards.

Her room is either really messy, or oddly tidy. On that note, Streamer!Jinx that decorated her whole setup and desk, plus her headphones. They’re all covered in scribbles and spraypaint.

Streamer!Jinx that sometimes manages to convince you to play on stream with her, addressing you as a close friend to keep you both comfortable and safe online.

She constantly says “chat” and “gang”, even when she’s not streaming. Vi and Ekko pick up on it and comment on it frequently, using it to tease her.

Rages at Minecraft. 100%. She joined MCC, just to ragequit half way through because her team was in dead last. Her chat watched her leave the server and walk out of her room on the webcam. She had to take a whole 15 minuet break and come back with a cup of coffee to calm down.

She would start a Minecraft hardcore series just to hide in a hole as soon as it turns night, before logging off and never returning.

She tried to change the topic, "We’re going to win this round!", to say she lost, and her chat didn’t drop the topic, would be an understatement.

She got cancelled for homophobia once, because she went on a 'just chill and talk' live about how she didn’t approve of Caitlyn and Vi being together. It got taken the wrong way and had to explain that she’s infact Queer with a girlfriend. She defended herself with "Guys, I’m literally dating.." after she revealed your relationship, and then went on a rant sesh about you. She’s the biggest yapper ever.

Her twitch account got banned or suspended once because she got so mad at a kid on Fortnite that she cursed him out and went overboard. (Again, she has no filter).

She mainly plays Minecraft and gun games. But sometimes she’ll do longer lives for charity where she’ll play the chat’s top pick.

She accidentally showed your face on stream once, forgetting to tell you her webcam was on. You didn’t realise until later that day there were edits of you on your own fyp or twitter TL. "Babe, you might wanna see this.."

Jinx still gets confused whenever she sees an edit of herself. Also, she has a public favourite folder of edits of you. She doesn’t know how to edit it to make it private.

Once you got comfortable showing your face on webcam, Jinx hosted a “do my hair and Q&A” stream where you braided and brushed her hair while you both answered questions. Any excuse to spend time with you at the same time as working.

Hey you're like the only mcyt blogger I follow and I genuinely am not into any of that stuff so can you PLEASE explain what the fuck is going on?

first of all, it is crazy to me that i am somehow anyone's only mcyt lmao

I will not go into a lot of details with explanation because it's actually worth like several hours essay video at this point, but as short as i can:

Dream is a minecraft youtuber, mainly known for manhunt series and creating the server Dream SMP. In recent, like, 2(?) years he has been in controversy after controversy, where he was revealed to genuinely be not a good person, very manipulative with his friends and his viewers (<- whixh is why he still has a huge cult-like fan base defending him like their life depends on it). Due to that he's been basically dropped by a lot of other content creators, like Tommy and Tubbo.

Tommy and Tubbo were both part of the Dream SMP and worked closely with Dream in the past. Tommy also looked up to Dream as a mentor and they used to have hours long calls about yt. Tommy was 16-18 at the time. Dream was 21-23.

Recently Tommy started speaking up about all the adults that were not good role models to him during that age, mainly joking about it or on his podcast. Dream was one of those adults.

Now, the most recent drama started because Tommy was having a twitter beef with OTHER creators that had NOTHING to do with Dream, and Dream popped up with a meme that was basically calling Tommy's whole 15million audience an r-slur. Like, he used that slur.

That started a backlash, multiple people were rightfully going What The Fuck. Tubbo was one of those people, starting one of his streams by talking about it. It was like and hour and something long.

That night (for Europe) Dream went on and made a 3 hours long stream talking about all the dramas he has ever had in a completely infuriating way and misconstrued some of Tubbo's words he said during his stream to make it seem like Tubbo was also against Tommy and stuff.

Tubbo then proceeded to react to this 3 hours stream in a 6 hours vod. Being genuinely baffled by a lot pf stuff. During that stream Tommy posted a five minutes video where he addressed Dream. I recommend just watching it, it's very short.

Dream was actually supposed to come on Tubbo's stream and discuss stuff on call, because Tubbo in general had been very generous at how much benefit of the doubt he was giving Dream, trying to be as fair as possible. Dream backed out, because he started working on a response video to Tommy.

That video is 10 minutes long. It is full of blatant lies and misinformation plus a lot of editing choices specifically made to make you feel for Dream and look at Tommy as just some annoying clown (<- mainly music). Misinformation and lies included stuff like cropping out private messages to use them as proof for otherwise not just unbased but disproved statements, using screenshots of invoices that in fact did not relate to the situation Dream was describing and were paid BY TUBBO for a COMPLETELY UNRELATED THING.

Tubbo is now reacting to that.

I hope this is informative enough, there is genuinely so much going on, I did not mention like 85% of it.

guys youre not gonna believe me but I THINK IM FINALLY OVER HIM??? like. there was never any drama, i just asked a friend to tell him i liked him, he said he wasn't looking for a relationship in high school bc he doesn't think he'd be a good boyfriend and wants to mature, and i accepted that. i still think he's cute and good looking but i stopped reading into every little action. and we haven't addressed it directly, but it's been a bit awkward between us since. but we added him to the minecraft server we play on (with a bunch of other people he's also friends with so its not weird) and i think it's helping a lot to make it less awkward. today everyone else had to leave and it was just the two of us but i wasn't nervous or awkward at all. we actually had a lot of fun and i heard his real genuine laugh, not the just to be nice laugh or the awkward laugh or anything, but the kinda laugh i've never actually gotten from him and ive only heard him do with his friends. im not entirely past the crush, but im not as obsessive. and im more worried about preserving our friendship than trying to start a relationship. i think we can actually be good friends, and that's really what i want.

What’s Up With Those Title Cards, Anyway: An Analysis

Now that Mumbo’s second episode is out I find myself thinking about these title cards again. And as much as I realize that they’re meant to be a fun nod to previous Hermitcraft seasons and Mumbo’s place in them, the items included and the context of their presence raise a whole lot of questions for me.

First of all, these aren’t blocks, they’re real items. Many of them don’t even have equivalents in the world of Minecraft (or even in Hermitcraft). Think about that. Are the blocky forms that we see on screen mere representations of a larger, more high-resolution world? A world with stickers and stamps and keys? A world where a ticket to Hermitcraft is a physical object you can hold in your hand? This certainly seems to imply so.

What is the context for these items? Where are they? Where are we? The stylistic choice was made to have them sort of resting on a solid-colored background. The selection of items makes me feel as though this is a representation of a desk of some kind, items important enough to Mumbo for him to keep around, lots of paperwork and stuff that you might find in a private office drawer. Which just raises even more questions. How does Mumbo keep these items from season to season? Where are they right now? Do they actually exist at all? (Not to mention smaller timeline questions. When did Mumbo receive the Grumbot message? When was it sent? Does the Grumbot left in Season 7 have a different consciousness than the one in Season 9, which last saw its dads only a month or two ago?)

If you follow the Rendog school of Hermitcraft lore, I guess you could say they’re kept on the Hermetheus along with all the other season-to-season holdovers and souvenirs. But that is one interpretation of many, canon to Rendog but never really canonized on a server-wide scale. Plus… if we take that interpretation in its entirety, how do the items from season 8 even exist, given that their entire world was canonically a simulation?

I also notice the relationship between the real world and the Minecraft world, the distinction between Mumbo the youtuber and Mumbo the block man. The ‘Official Rich List’ certificate mentions a ‘screenshot of a Minecraft chest’, implying that whoever wrote this certificate knows what Minecraft is from an outside perspective and finds Minecraft diamonds to be meaningless as a measure of wealth. And yet the certificate is addressed to one Mumbo K. Jumbo. The middle initial, having its origin in a highly in-character storyline during season 8, makes me feel like it could be more of a character Mumbo thing, but there’s no hard evidence.

How does Mumbo even have a picture of real-life Grian? Is this redstone incident report out-of-universe too? Who is he reporting this damage to, anyway?

And yet these are placed alongside items that are definitely from inside the world of Hermitcraft, if only the more fleshed-out version of it. A key to a mechanical car-horse would be functionless unless it was actually used, in-universe, by Mumbo the character. The ODEA manual was an idea considered but rejected by Mumbo during Season 7 in favor of tutorial videos, but perhaps this would make sense as an alternative for a world where the characters live in their Minecraft world as reality and have no capability to access the ODEA website.

Perhaps, in Mumbo’s view, there is little distinction between what we in the fandom call c!Mumbo and cc!Mumbo. We see both in-universe and out-of-universe items side-by-side, contradictory, because they are interchangeable here.

I doubt we’ll ever get any answers to these questions because obviously Mumbo made these title cards as fun little references instead of serious or purposeful lore, but I still think it’s fun to think about. Neat little worldbuilding details like this are few and far between in most mcyt content so I was foaming at the mouth when I first saw these. Well done Mumbo!

So Red Faction did manage to get their kill in this week with Coy but the factions NEED to end with in the next week or two. Or at least the killing requirement because it was a bad idea from the start and is blatantly unfair. The idea of requiring kills was never a bad idea but it was just so clearly not thought out and how they went about it was bad. I can understand creative kills in the sense that it wouldn't be that fun to have people just team up and murder some random weaker person to get it over with but I think there could have also been more communication and rules about it. Like lean into the roleplay aspect and trust that people would make it fun and not be cruel about it.

The main problem though, that hasn't been addressed for some reason, is that the Red Faction was doomed from the start by just being newer to a grindy server. Everyone they were meant to kill had weeks to get established and get far ahead and the levels differences on The Realm matter SO much. It's nearly impossible to kill someone who's higher level than you. Not to mention most of the people they chose to be on Red Faction are people who don't play a lot of minecraft and were never going to be that active. When you pair that with the fact they would have to spend hours and hours grinding to even catch up, that's going to be super intimidating and they're just going to give up and not log on. I don't blame the vast majority of them for not wanting to even touch the killing quest, that was an absurd expectation and very daunting.

If it was not for Pili the Red Faction would just die. Like full stop. They were lucky they happened to invite Pili who took up the challenge and was willing to put in the work to fight that uphill battle when no one else was. There is also credit to give to Bad who was one of the only people to immediately see that this was going to be unfair and try and help them out. The newer people they just invited seem more willing to try and help out but there is still that massive disadvantage of being new and the amount of grinding it takes to catch up. So it still falls to Pili and it's starting to bleed into out of character frustration because that is so unfair. It's to the point where I have heard people from every faction agree that it's not fair for Red Faction. I have a feeling Pili is just going to refuse to be the one to do it this week and I don't blame him. I think this is my only real complaint with the server and I love it a lot but I cannot fathom why the admins are not seeing a problem here. I'm hoping some of the other players from other factions start speaking up more about it because I think most of the active players have seen and agreed that the kill thing has too many problems.

The qsmp being investigated by the French government for labour laws infringement was not on my 2024 bingo card

Currently I don't believe it's the French Government, currently it's the Solidaires french labor union, but shockingly they have actually apparently gone after minecraft servers before for poor labor practices and taken them to court, although my limited searching hasn't resulted in the outcome of that case. I don't want to talk too much about the qsmp because it's not my business, but legit there's a huge amount of exploitation in youtube spaces that is probably illegal but gets brushed over. Creators are so often removed from it to the point of plausible deniability so it never really gets addressed properly. You see it with merch companies delivering awful quality products, having huge wait times and massive delays, missing people, not staying in contact, mistreating employees, scamming fanartists and underpaying them (look into youtoonz for some of that stuff), etc.

It's part of why I respect Dream so much for building out his own merch company and not going with one of the crappy ones. I love ordering merch from his company because I know I'm going to get what I paid for, it's going to be comfortable as fuck, and if there's any issues the company goes out of it's way to make things right. That sort of company set up takes time and a lot of care and effort to build. When you just half ass it, and don't supervise or actually run your own company, that's how you end up breaking a shit ton of labor laws, exploiting a number of people (at least some of which may be teenagers), and potentially end up getting sued.

I honestly do hope Quackity gets taken to court over this not out of any malice, but because these sorts of creator practices can't be allowed to continue. Creators at his size and scale are getting millions and millions of dollars and they can't be operating like a twitch channel with 20 viewers. If cases get brought to court, even if they aren't won, it will scare a lot of creators off from doing labor exploitation and push them do things more like Dream, where people are paid properly and fans aren't end up getting shafted at every turn.

They were receiving communication from a Dream SMP member.

“So, uh, you answerin’ or am I?” Techno asked.

OR... Phil receives a mysterious request to rejoin the DSMP after fleeing the server with the Syndicate. Tasked with an near impossible quest and going in blind, the Syndicate arrives back to the SMP to find nothing is quite as they left it.
