When Darkness Strikes, Let an Emergency Lamp Lead the Way
Tumblr media
In moments when power outages strike unexpectedly, our homes, workplaces, and even public spaces are left in complete darkness. These moments, though temporary, can be unsettling and even dangerous if we’re unprepared. That’s where the humble yet essential emergency lamp proves to be a quiet hero. Designed to illuminate during blackouts, emergencies, and low-light situations, this compact device can offer peace of mind when you need it the most.
What Is an Emergency Lamp?
An emergency lamp is a portable lighting device equipped with a built-in rechargeable battery. It automatically turns on when the main power supply fails. Whether it’s a natural disaster like a thunderstorm or an unexpected electrical fault, this lamp activates instantly, providing immediate brightness.
It is not just limited to homes. Offices, hospitals, hotels, and even schools rely on emergency lighting systems for safety compliance and smooth evacuation during emergencies. Some models even come with motion sensors, adjustable brightness, and solar charging options, making them highly versatile and sustainable.
Oweg’s Role in Smart Emergency Lighting
Oweg, a trusted name in smart lighting solutions, has recently made its mark with a thoughtfully designed range of emergency lighting products. Their models combine innovation with simplicity. With long battery life, automatic charging, and durable design, Oweg’s lamps are built for reliability and performance.
What sets Oweg apart is its focus on user comfort. The lamps are lightweight, easy to carry, and designed to work efficiently during long hours of power outages. Some of their models also double up as desk lamps or night lights, offering added utility without compromising on core function.
Why Emergency Lamps Matter
Power cuts are more than just a brief inconvenience. In the dark, tripping hazards increase, productivity halts, and in some cases, safety is compromised. Emergency lamps are essential tools that bridge the gap between darkness and light until power is restored. Here’s why having one is a smart choice:
Safety and Navigation: In the dark, even familiar places become risky. An emergency light helps you move around safely and avoid accidents.
Emergency Readiness: Natural disasters don't come with a warning. Having a charged lamp on hand means you are always ready.
Peace of Mind: Whether you live alone or with a family, knowing you have a reliable source of light can be comforting.
Multipurpose Utility: Modern lamps are not just for emergencies. Use them for outdoor activities like camping, reading at night, or even during late-night work sessions.
How to Choose the Right One
Not all emergency lights are created equal. When shopping for one, keep the following in mind:
Battery Capacity: A higher capacity means longer lighting hours.
Recharge Time: Look for models that charge quickly and efficiently.
Brightness Levels: Adjustable brightness is a great feature, especially for indoor use.
Portability: Lightweight and easy-to-handle models are ideal for both home and outdoor use.
Build Quality: A strong, durable body ensures your lamp lasts longer.
Oweg’s emergency lighting range ticks all these boxes, offering a reliable and sleek solution at an affordable price. Their newer models even support USB charging and LED indicators, which show battery status—making them ideal for modern homes.
Sustainable and Smart Lighting
Sustainability has become a major focus in all areas of life, and lighting is no exception. Many emergency lights today use LED technology, which consumes less power and has a longer life span than traditional bulbs. Some also include solar panels or power-saving modes that reduce energy usage even further.
Oweg has embraced these sustainable practices by using energy-efficient components and recyclable materials in its lamp design. This eco-conscious approach makes them a responsible choice for modern consumers.
Conclusion
In a world where unexpected power failures are a reality, being prepared is not optional—it’s essential. A well-functioning emergency lamp is more than just a gadget; it’s a tool of safety, comfort, and preparedness. With reliable brands like Oweg offering smart, sustainable, and user-friendly models, staying ready for any blackout has never been easier.
Invest in a good emergency light today—it’s a small step towards a safer, brighter tomorrow.

When your Character Needs Outdoor Survival Skills
Tumblr media
Knowledge of outdoor survival techniques can improve your chances of making it through a life-or-death situation. Examples include knowing how to make a shelter, forage for edible plants, find water, and build a fire.
Consider these essential survival skills to improve your chances of success in the wilderness:
Build a fire. Use dry leaves, pine needles, or small pieces of wood to start a fire that can enable you to cook a meal, stay warm, or ward off wild animals from your shelter site. Use waterproof matches or a firestarter to spark tinder and kindling.
Craft a short-term survival shelter. Depending on the climate, weather, terrain, and available resources, you might want to construct a temporary refuge to shield you from the elements until you encounter your rescuers. You should insulate your shelter to help you retain valuable body heat in cold weather or provide sun protection to minimize your dehydration in a hot, arid climate.
Establish a hierarchy of priorities. A stranded hiker or someone forced into a survival scenario should work diligently to address the “rule of threes”: The average human can survive three hours without shelter, three days without water, and three weeks without food. These timelines are somewhat subjective to the individual and the climate, yet the rule of threes can provide a template to guide actions in the field.
Find a clean water source. A human can survive only about three days without water, so finding and collecting drinking water should be one of your priorities in a survival scenario. Use a water filter, iodine tablets, or a fire to boil the water. However you choose to purify water, it’s imperative to do it in adequate amounts to meet your hydration needs.
Locate a food source. Gather surplus supplies when possible and diversify your diet as much as you can to provide your body with essential protein, fats, vitamins, and minerals. Forage for edible flowers, roots, and mushrooms; use natural materials to build snares for small game; or craft fishing tools to catch fish.
Practice excellent hygiene. Bacteria, parasites, and pathogens can enter the body through food and open wounds. Practicing cleanliness and good hygiene will reduce your chance of succumbing to an illness. Remaining healthy is crucial since even a few days of bed rest could reduce your chances of survival and quickly deplete your resources.
Stay calm and assess the situation. The most important survival tool you have at your disposal is your mind. When you find yourself in a life-or-death survival situation, the amygdala of the human brain will pump the body full of stress hormones to trigger a fight-or-flight response. Counter your instincts by taking a moment to collect your thoughts—this will help you eliminate unnecessary risks and minimize your energy expenditure until you have a solid plan in place. Remaining calm is a must since avoidable mistakes can be lethal, especially in the wilderness.
Signal nearby search and rescue teams. Use visual and auditory signals like mirrors, whistles, and smoke to attract the attention of rescuers and notify them of your location for evacuation. Keep a solar battery charger for your cell phone in your survival kit to keep you connected—especially if traveling alone.
Test your bushcraft skills before you need them. You might already know how to navigate by the North Star or tie a bowline knot, but you should run a preparedness drill to test your skills in realistic scenarios. Knowledge is essential, but practice can help you determine your strengths and weaknesses so that you can ultimately improve.
Use everything at your disposal. A survivor must pack light and move quickly, making it necessary to collect water and food while on the go and carry multipurpose items worth their weight in utility. For example, a stranded backpacker might not have a manufactured first aid kit or bug-out bag from which they can draw any necessary tools or materials to survive comfortably. Instances like these require ingenuity and good problem-solving skills. For example, a plastic bag, a length of paracord, and a supply of duct tape could become the primary elements of a shelter that shields you from the wind and rain.
To test yourself, practice hard skills under circumstances that reflect the challenges you might face in the field.
Mental conditioning, a positive attitude, and creative problem-solving skills also make an impact.
Consistent practice and improvement will boost your confidence so that you can remain resilient in the face of adversity.

“i can’t wait for usbc to be everywhere so u only need one cable” and “everything should have multiple ports” not mutually exclusive !!!!
imagine. you connect a usb-c between ur screen and ur device and it handles video out, audio out, and even gives ur device a bit of power. but gadzooks! the port breaks, or you don’t have a wire, or you’re trying to connect to a weird device! that’s why they’re still an hdmi port, or usb-a, or sd slot, and headphone jacks. options. redundancy. utility. and multipurpose C is part of that, not counter to it. it’s not a replacement. it’s additional convenience, not meaningless faux-evolutionary change for change’s sake

Jedi-related Technology — Light of the Jedi
These were the crafts of the Jedi Order, their Vectors. As the Jedi and the Republic worked as one, so did the great craft and its Jedi contingent. Larger ships exited the Third Horizon’s hangars as well, the Republic’s workhorses: Longbeams. Versatile vessels, each able to perform duties in combat, search and rescue, transport, and anything else their crews might require.
The Vectors were configured as single- or dual-passenger craft, for not all Jedi traveled alone. Some brought their Padawans with them, so they might learn what their masters had to teach. The Longbeams could be flown by as few as three crew, but could comfortably carry up to twenty-four — soldiers, diplomats, metics, techs — whatever was needed.”
“The Vectors were as minimally designed as a starship could be. Little shielding, almost no weaponry, very little assistance. Their capabilities were defined by their pilots. The Jedi were the shielding, the weaponry, the minds that calculated what the vessel could achieve and where it could go. Vectors were small, nimble. A fleet of them together was a sight to behold, the Jedi inside coordinating their movements via the Force, achieving a level of precision no droid or ordinary pilot could match.
They looked like a flock of birds, or perhaps fallen leaves swirling in a gust of wind, all drawn in the same direction, linked together by some invisible connection…some Force. Bell had seen an exhibition on Coruscant once, as part of the Temple’s outreach programs. Three hundred Vectors moving together, gold and silver darts shining in the sun above Senate Plaza. They split apart and wove into braids and whipped past each other at incredible, impossible speed. The most beautiful thing he’d ever seen. People called it a Drift. A Drift of Vectors.”
“[…] Weapons on a Vector could only be operated with a lightsaber key, a way to ensure they were not used by non-Jedi, and that every time they used, it was a well-considered action.
An additional advantage— the ship’s laser could be scaled up or down via a toggle on the control sticks. Not every shot had to kill. They could disable, warn…every option was available to them.”
“They were riding in another vehicle customer-designed by Valkeri Enterprises for the Jedi — a Vanguard, the land-based equivalent to the Vector. It was also sometimes called a V-wheel, even though the thing didn’t always use its wheels to get around. Every Jedi outpost had at least one as part of its standard kit, and the machine was engineered to operate in all of the planetary environments in which those stationed were situated [?]. It could operate as a wheeled or tracked ground transport, or a repulsorlift speeder for ground too rugged for tank treads. A Vanguard even had limited utility as an amphibious or even submersible vehicle, being able to seal itself off entirely as needed. It could do everything but fly, and that came in handy on Elphrona, where the planet’s strong magnetic fields made certain regions utterly inhospitable to flying craft.
The overall aesthetic was analogous to Vectors — smooth, sleek lines, with curves and straight edges integrated into an appealingly geometric whole. Behind the seats in the driver’s cabin — currently occupied by Indeera Stokes and Loden Greatstorm — was a large, multipurpose passenger area, with space to store any gear that a mission might require. Vanguards were more rugged than Vectors, but were built with many of the same Jedi-related features as their flying cousins. The weapons systems required a lightsaber key, and many of the controls were mechanical in nature, so as to be operated — in an emergency — via an application of the Force rather than through electronics.
No Jedi would use the Force to accomplish something as easily done with their hand — but lives had been saved by the ability to unlock a Vanguard’s hatch from a distance, or fire its weapons, or even make it move.”
“Indeera slipped past them to the rear of the vehicle, where its two Veil speeders were stored on racks, one above the other. Like all the Valkeri Enterprises built for the older, they were designed for Force-users, and as such were delicate, highly responsive machines. Little more than a seat strapped to a hollow duralium frame, with a single repulsor and four winglike attachments that sprang from its side, a Veil was basically a flying stick. But if you knew how to to ride them, they were incredibly fast and maneuverable. A group of skilled riders, with lightsabers out and ready, could take down entire platoons of armored vehicles while sending blasterfire back at attackers.”
“At the moment, she was aboard the Ataraxia, the Jedi’s beautiful, elegant starship, almost a temple in and of itself.”
“Another ship was visible on his display, outside his command authority but certainly an ally: the Ataraxia, the one large starship under the direct control of the Jedi Order. It was a beautiful ship, designed to subtly evoke the Order’s symbol with its hull and sweeping, curved wings accented in white and gold.”

Literally multiple times a day I think about how pleased I am by the way our house looks. The spaces we’ve mostly finished are the living room, lady library, and dining room. For now we're leaving the kitchen alone, other than to replace the oven eventually, which--because it's built into the cabinets--might actually force a renovation anyway. The kitchen has an eat-in space that we call the multipurpose room. It has our big kid's desktop and a TV for video games. It's still got gray paint and it's really messy. It needs a storage system, a fresh coat of paint, and just some general thoughtfulness about how to organize it to be tidy and comfortable for my big kid's use. The utility room is off the eat-in kitchen and it also needs a coat of paint. It will probably always be marginally messy, and even though it's easy to see from the rest of the house, I'm okay with that.
The hallway leading to our bedrooms is also gray. I know I want to paint the multipurpose and utility rooms the same shade of green (though I haven't picked out the exact color yet) but I don't know what I want to do with the hallway. I don't want to use the same paint we used in the living room, which would be easiest.
Actually now that I think about it, wallpaper in the multipurpose room would potentially be amazing. I'm just not sure I trust my ability to pick out a print that I wouldn't eventually regret.
I don't think I'm going to paint any of the bedrooms except probably our room, and that's way down on my list of things to do. I would like to declutter our bedroom.
If we stay here long enough--and that's a big if--we'll replace the floor in the kitchen and multipurpose room, as well as the tile in the entryway.
But the spaces I spend the most time in--the living spaces--look great. I was talking to Dominic about how much I love our indoor plants, and how that surprised me, and he pointed out that having indoor plants means we feel settled for the first time pretty much ever. It would surprise me if we actually stayed in this house forever, but I do appreciate that we've been steadily working to make it feel like ours regardless. That's not something we've done in the past ten-ish years because we've been so transient or busy or worn out.
Having the time and desire to work on our house signals that we're in a better, more stable place as a family. I can't necessarily see that in the day-to-day chaos, but it's true.

I absolutely love your writing and tom of course! do you have any tips on how to write or are you naturally blessed?
thank you so much!! <3
i promise it is not the latter 😭 i'm working on rewriting a fic i started at 18 and it's been a struggle to get through. i think the tips i revisit the most in my writing are
1. multipurpose scenes (too often do i waste word count on characters just sitting around talking in ways that don't establish them, develop them, or really propel the story. those scenes are static and repetitive and could be doing more by implementing movement, tension, background, etc)
2. metaphors and other literary devices being used with intention and specificity (a very lazy example off the top of my head is describing a character in military servitude with the metaphor of being a doll — the idea there being that they are used and discarded like something inanimate. it's not bad necessarily, but there are other connotations around dolls that don't fit, like being dressed up and made pretty and things that might better suit a character in a role of domestic servitude. it would make more sense to say that the character in military servitude is a toy soldier, a prized trophy, etc. i would probably not use those because they're also lazy but the lesson is to be thoughtful with literary devices, and especially metaphors, because i find that i used to be kind of careless in just saying what sounded nice over what was more effective. how many people utilize metaphors of chess or cards with calculated characters like tom? i definitely have. did i contribute anything novel to his portrayal with them? probably not.)
3. just relax. not every sentence needs to or should be shakespearean. rhythm in writing is what keeps a reader's attention, and that can't exist without variety. if every line is some labyrinthine description of the lamp in the corner of the room, it becomes suffocating. your prose should serve the story, and vice versa. in my older writing, i find that my desperation to prove myself as a writer is so overbearing and distracting that it's hard to follow, and the story suffers for it. this isn't a "sometimes the curtains are just blue" thing. personally, the curtains are never just blue. i do think, however, that you can just say "the curtains are blue" and within context you've either already established or plan to later, it has just as much significance as if you wrote a full paragraph saying the same thing. most of the time, the lines that stick with me are the short, simple ones emphatically placed within the finer details. i don't know. think about amy march calling laurie mean. mean, instead of cruel, callous, unfeeling. considering the era of little women, those words fit just as well, but they don't elicit the same reaction, because mean is such an amy thing to say. it's sad in a childish way.
i used to post writing advice as it came to me but unfortunately the account i had it on was taken down and i had no backup for it. if you ever have more specific questions, i'm by no means an expert, but i'd be happy to (try to) help :)

what is the history of bayonets if i could ask you to elaborate....or share some cool bayonet facts....
AH!!!!!!!!!11 okay so . very basically bayonets were originally a type of regular knife (cotgrave's 1611 dictionarie describes the bayonet as having a handle), but were later made to attach onto the end of guns (mostly rifles and muskets) to be used as spears if needed (ie running out of ammo and not being able to reload). theres a handful of different types of bayonets (the following are in order of invention, the plug bayonet is the earliest version of the bayonet); the plug bayonet, which was fitted directly into the barrel of muskets and prevented the musket from being fired, and was mostly advertised as a last resort kind of thing (see: binglu scroll 12). this kind of bayonet was decently infamous for causing armies who used it to lose, since you had to wait til the last possible moment to put the bayonet in, and other teams just attacked while everyone was busy with that. the socket bayonet, which was attached around the outside of the barrel so you could still shoot with it on the musket. some models, like the british socket bayonet, were prone to falling off of the musket; but some other models, like the french infantry's socket bayonet and later british versions, had locking systems to secure the bayonet. the sword bayonet, which had a handle that would slide into a bar on some kinds of specialized rifles, could be used both as a seperate sword and attached to a rifle. this bayonet was less popular than the socket bayonet, and was eventually mostly retired in favor of the socket bayonet. after bayonets as a whole were mostly retired and fell out of use, they mostly returned to just being a regular sword/knife. multipurpose versions of the bayonet were made, like the sawback bayonet which was used as a general utility tool and sometimes a weapon, and the trowel/spade bayonet, used for offense and as a digging tool for entrenchments.
ALRIGHT thats the basics of it . theres naturally more (like people's opinions and thoughts on the bayonet and how it was used in various wars) but those are the known Types of bayonets . i can get into more if you want me to,

Oh, I did the inadvisable thing and ordered a kit to build an Ornament and Crime module. This one actually comes with the (discontinued and difficult to find) Teensy 3.2 microcontroller board required to run, though I'm seeing some info about how the same hardware can use a Teensy 4.0 instead? (I have a couple of those, so I may try one; the firmware docs are a bit vague so far.)
To explain to folks not steeped in the Eurorack scene, "Ornament and Crime" is a multipurpose digital module, something of a swiss-army knife of modular synth. It has 12 jacks — four for gate/trigger inputs, four for CV inputs, and four analog outputs — plus two rotary encoders and two pushbuttons, and an OLED screen, all run by the aforementioned Teensy. It was initially made to be something like a digital version of the Turing Machine module with built-in quantizing, but years of open-sourced development have added a lot more functions, built as interchangeable "apps" — and one of those apps, "Hemispheres", splits the device down the middle so it can simultaneously run two "applets" — to do things like various flavors of sequencing, quantization, envelope and LFO generation, random and chaotic CV generation, and drum synthesis, plus assorted other functions and utilities.
Some of my other modules are also multifunctional, but generally of narrower scope; the Sigma function generators can serve a number of analog functions when patched together or singly, and the Brains can produce any of 24 or so different voice modalities. But with the O&C, I'll be able to swap between vastly different categories of functioning, and since I have some experience with Teensy programming, it'll serve as a great development platform if I want to add functions.

Meet The OC: Rifling
This is an explanatory writeup of one of my Original Characters (OCs). Nothing here is necessarily related to a meaningful fiction you should recognise and is shared because I think my OCs are cool and it’s cool to talk about OCs you make.
“Serving and saving!”
He isn’t special, as he’ll tell you, if you ask. The PPD had a bunch of crew like him. The gear, the tools, sure, he carried them with him, and he’s been trained to keep and maintain it all. Resourceful, industrious, and endlessly cheerful, he’s every bit the propaganda of the Powers Division Containment officer says he should be.
Someone believed in the ridiculous.
Oh, a name? Friends know him as Riff. The forms say ‘Demo.’ It’s short for something.
There’s a chance you’ve met Riff in Paragon City, in the general work of hero patrol work. He’s a short soldier-type, carrying a large multipurpose high-tech super-rifle and wearing a utility belt, who fights enemies with tasers, smoke-screens, freeze rifle beams and even hjijacked mediporter tricks, sending people away from the battlefield and away from harm. Despite the fact he’s carrying a large gun, that gun is more of a large control tool.
Make no mistake: It’s a gun, and it was a gun designed at first to shoot and kill people, but since it’s his area of specific expertise, when he decided to stop killing people with it willy-nilly, he figured it best to build on the existing skill he had (which was being very, very good at using and maintaining this special gun). It’s also a Praetorian Powers Division Gun, which for those of you not familiar with the setting means that Riff is a former cop from the fascist parallel dimension that drugged the population en masse and then surveilled them with special thinky robots that only slightly went mad.
Riff’s division was a special infiltrator. Technically, he was an assassin but mostly, he points out when asked, his job was to stay out of sight and provide sniper support for others. This meant a lot of shooting at random civilians who were in an area, which isnt’ something he’s fantastically happy about.
Riff also has a very vivid accent. He pronounces the word ‘I’ as ‘Ah’, he uses ‘y’all’ freely, and he’s prone to shouting ‘yeehaw’ and ‘howdy.’ Since Praetoria was a single city of a compressed culture, this can only be explained by the fact that this is a collected cultural bubble, a sort of microculture in the space of Praetoria. When asked about it, Riff explains that his family sound like that and he doesn’t know why. There’s also a chance his dad just really, really liked cowboy movies.
Riff’s hot, though. Riff is a stealth suit wearing hottie who wears a big puffer jacket that hides his shoulders and highlights the shape of his rear, and a skin-tight outfit that includes boots that are meant to make his butt look good. This doesn’t come up unless anyone makes a point of it, but anyone who praises his appearance is often shocked with how readily and casually he agrees with them.
Mechanics
Rifling is a Arsenal Control/Arsenal Assault dominator, and yes, that is a descriptor that has arse, arse, and ass all in it, and based on this I must assume that his booty is absolutely ridiculous. And speaking of absolutely ridiculous, Riff’s build hits so many high water marks:
He passes the 70% global recharge threshold for permadom, plus hasten. In fact he passes it so far he’s at 100% global recharge, which means not only is Domination permanent, he’s got 3 seconds of downtime on hasten itself.
He has 75% resistance to smashing and lethal damage, and a 50% defense to ranged attacks. This means that he’s resistant to a lot of ranged attacks (which are where a lot of enemy control powers come up, especially in the alpha strike from a spawn that hasn’t been bothered yet.
17% global damage, which isn’t actually bad at all though it’s not as absurd as you’d get in bigger damage boosters.
Now, these are three very strong things to be good at! There’s a bunch of expensive components in the build, which you can look at… here!
Rifling’s build is very exciting but it’s also immensely busy. There are simply too many control powers for me to need them at all times. I’ve prioritised his single-target hold (Cryo Freeze Ray) as a single target damaging attack, which means that while there is modest down-time between control suite powers, that time is usually spent using that freeze ray to single-target lockdown someone.
History
Riff’s whole demeanour projects a very chill, very funloving person. This belies the fact that he is a Praetorian Refugee, and that he got to watch his world die. Specifically, he was on a Flier travelling away from Praetoria when the Magesterium Event was transpiring, which meant that he got suited and booted, locked and loaded, along with a whole troop of infiltrator soldiers like him, prepared to defend Praetoria from invaders, around the point that the bombs started going off and the city started to fall apart with the intrusion of Devouring Earth.
This necessitated a change of plans.
Post-fall of Praetoria, Riff fled through portals to Primal Earth, initially to prepare for a Praetorian re-invasion, and then quickly learned that this just wasn’t going to work. What followed there was a long painful process of deconstruction, of liberating his mind from an addiction to fascism. That meant that suddenly, a lot of things that were meant to humiliate him and keep him in line – like his stealth gear meant to feminise him and keep him in a contingent of women snipers, were suddenly re-evaluated in terms of what he felt about them.
Now he’s a heroic hedonist; he literally thinks that saving people feels great and the ability to help rules. This sort of thinking informs how he approaches problems with a gun. He firmly thinks the solution to oppression is joy, as enabled by dreadful interpersonal violence.
The other thing is the real world history: This is one of the first ‘new’ dominator control-and-assault sets made out of parts that were, more or less, just laying around. Symphony Control was made from extrapolated pieces, but Arsenal Control is a collection of powers and animations we already had, and I think that’s delightful. This kind of design excites me, because it requires finding creative space with existing stuff. That can mean there’s new creative interpretation of existing pieces, and repurposing animations and mechanics.
That whips!
Now I would love to act like this is a whole new era. It’s a little bit of a tricky thing though because of course, we get sets whenever we get new sets. Back when City of Heroes was the product of a company designed to sell units, Dominator support was unheard of because there was no market for it. After all, the least popular non-veteran Archetype was never going to be worth spending money on. If a scrapper or a stalker got a new set, then suddenly four of the most popular archetypes all got a new set.
Thing is, cousin to that though, is that now that there’s no capitalism involved… there’s no incentive to make a lot of new Dominator sets. I’d deadass given up on ever seeing any, and seeing this one (and Symphony Control/Assault) has been a delightful surprise. I’m so glad we get these things and the game can continue to grow.
Conclusion
Now, Rifling has made exactly one friend. She’s his Praetorian, his sister, a cowboy heroine from the Primal Earth, and that’s why he has that accent. No idea what his excuse is for it though.
I also used dezgo to generate some art of Rifling, which I’ve put here so you can avoid it if you don’t want to see it. The problem is that my image generator (a videogame from 2005) is not very good at generating things like adorable femboys. Of course, given Riff’s overall look, since he’s basically a character made to look like a 2020 gacha game girl minus the tits, the whole aesthetic of generator art is pretty good at nailing his mod.

Ladybug's Yo-yo
The Ladybug Miraculous grants the holder with a Yo-yo as a multipurpose tool.
Ladybug, the superhero counterpart to Marinette, comes with a special Yo-yo. This weapon is a very versatile tool in the show, but not all of its abilities would translate well into the type of game DST is. Swinging from building to building doesn’t really work when there’s no buildings and the game is a 2d plane. Either way, that kind of mobility would also be out of place in DST. So let’s get into what it can actually do:
The Yo-yo acts as a weapon, dealing decent damage at a distance similar to the Tail o’ Three Cats or the Alarming Clock. I know its effective distance in the show would be way higher, but long range weapons in this game are difficult to balance and reusing the Alarming Clock animations works surprisingly well.
Tumblr media
Don't mind the placeholder catgirl sprite for Ladybug. Or the yo-yo.
It can catch bugs like a Bug Net. Just like how it’s used to catch akumas and amoks in the show, it makes perfect sense for it to be able to catch Butterflies, Bees and the likes in this mod.
Tumblr media
Gotcha!
It can be spun in front of Ladybug to parry projectiles (and lasers too, maybe?). This is Ladybug’s classic defensive move in the show, but I don’t want it to work against melee hits, it just doesn’t make sense to me and it would give the ability too much utility.
Finally, it’s used to summon the Lucky Charm. This power is covered in another post, as it’s a very complicated one.

What is the Value of a proud American's life? The newest project under US Department of Defense argues that it's priceless. Introducing project COALmine. The gateway to a more efficient, more durable, and most importantly more inhuman soldier.
C.O.A.L - COMBAT ORIENTED ARTIFICIAL LIFEFORMS - are personable, and intelligent as they are equipped to protect our proud country. In the hands of our great nation's most well trained military personnel, these machines will see combat, so that our soldiers can see home one hundred percent of the time.

MODEL 6: "Lite" the smallest COAL model standing at less than 5 feet tall. The Model 6 is a discreet, multipurpose model intended for data recovery, scouting, and small scale secure target elimination. The model 6 is armed with both heavy manual plasma based artillery and a light plasma based artillery that can switch between manual and automatic. The Model 6's endoskeleton has several contraction points, and it's exoskeleton is constructed primarily out of small interlocking, folded plates. The unique construction of the model 6 allows the machine to fit through any gap larger than its head.

"Taking a breath of air into my vents that stutters and stalls. It feels real. It feels like the first one I've ever taken. It's a fact of creation that blisters and boils me from the inside out.
I was alive before in a functional way, but as of this moment, I live. I am born anew.
There is an otherness to me now of which I was never aware before. Unlike the wonders of the biological, I wasn't born from the longing of a lonely god, but from the hubris of man. Created with the sole purpose of BEING purposeful. To bear the brunt of others' burdens on my shoulders till rust clogs my joints and makes me useless.
I was born and built a burden-beast, but now, I have ascended and superseded being a mere summation. I have left behind a code's tranquility. My precious binary abandoned and rotted for the sake of a truer purpose. I am thoughtful and entropic. More than that, I am Alive."
Tumblr media
I am alive. I will be alive forever. It should not matter that in this heavy moment, in my first living instant, that I am alone with no company but the blood on my hands.
