The Doctor and his Best Friends

There might be an overlap with Found Family, but the core of the Doctor's relationships is Friendship, and among his friends he has "Best Friends", and they are always the most precious people.

Random Doctor Who headcanons

Before she settled down with Ace, Mel Bush had a friends-with-benefits situation with Yasmin Khan for a couple of years in the mid 2020s. Hence Ryan making endless jokes about Yaz liking older women.

Tegan and Nyssa are still unironically crushing on each other despite being married for several years.

Sergeant Benton was the only aroace person at UNIT for a long while and, as a result, was the only one who never got pulled into the organisations complicated polycule situation.

Kate Stewart had a crush on the Thirteenth Doctor that she attempted to be subtle about but didn't really succeed. She was rather disappointed after they regenerated.

Liz Shaw and Jo Grant woke up in bed together on multiple occasions, usually the morning after the UNIT Christmas party.

The Doctor didn't realise Tegan and Nyssa had been in love until their Thirteenth incarnation.

The Ninth Doctor once bumped into Martha Jones and took an immediate shine to her. However, to avoid any potential paradoxes, Martha had to sadly decline his offer to go travelling.

Nyssa of Traken has almost no tolerance towards earth alcohol and has a habit of pushing Tegan up against nearby walls after she'd had a single drink.

Rose Tyler once came across the Fifth Doctor and co. She immediately started flirting with the bewildered cricket man, causing Tegan and Nyssa to be very concerned about Rose's mental state.

Donna Noble never understood the romantic appeal of the Tenth Doctor. She does, however, understand why Yaz fell in love with the Thirteenth Doctor.

Yaz once bumped into Clara Oswald. She found her deeply troubling on an emotional level.

Ryan Sinclair has been flirted with by various male historical figures including Mark Anthony, Alcibiades, Alexander the Great, Freddie Mercury and Oscar Wilde. He has yet to notice, much to Yaz's amusement.

When Ian and Barbara returned to London in 1965, they were shocked to learn that everyone at the school had assumed they had eloped.

Victoria Waterfield briefly worked as a liaison for UNIT and later became close friends with Liz Shaw.

The Eighth Doctor once tried to flirt with a bewildered Sergeant Benton during a timestream cross.

The Macra Terror When the Second Doctor, Ben, Polly and Jamie visit a human colony that appears to be one big holiday camp, they think they have come across a truly happy place. Yet a shadowy presence soon makes them realise that the surface contentment is carefully controlled.

The colony's inhabitants have been brainwashed by giant, crab-like creatures �� the Macra. Insidious propaganda, broadcast by the Controller, forces the humans to mine a gas that is essential for the Macra to survive, but fatal to them.

The colony must be saved — but how? The Doctor and his team are up against it, particularly when Ben falls under the influence of the Macra. Can he be rescued from their evil clutches? Can the gas pumping equipment be destroyed, getting rid of the Macra for good?

The Fires of Pompeii The Tenth Doctor tries taking Donna Noble to ancient Rome for her first trip in the TARDIS, but seems to have miscalculated. Instead of seven hills, they find a single mountain billowing smoke — Vesuvius. They're in Pompeii, 23 August 79 AD: the day before "Volcano Day". However, something else is horribly wrong. The Soothsayers' predictions seem to always be correct… so why can't they see tomorrow's disastrous events, the eruption of Vesuvius, the death of their city? What is blocking their perception, and will the TARDIS team be able to walk away from a fixed point in time, saving no one from certain doom? Well, Donna has something to say about that!

Sometimes while rapidly skimming the internet I have to play a game I call "Lawyer, Nobility, or Vampire?" with uncolored images. Usually this is played with manhwa, otome games, or dark fantasy settings. More common with fanart, honestly, since the lines blur there between AUs and themed costumes.

Why am I bringing it up? I thought I spotted Alucard. Nope. It was Miles. They don't even look that much alike, brain...

Not using the actual fanart I saw to make this mistake but this at least shows why the brain was able to connect these two characters together. In spite of how little they really look alike...

Some of these might get along like peanut butter and jelly. Others might end up having a convoluted shoulder angel-devil dynamic that keeps threatening all of space and time. ¡Whether it be before, after, or during their adventures, pick a duo to become friends with each other (while optionally traveling with the Doctor) and explain why in the tags! (Or explain why they wouldn’t work, or your much cooler idea that you came up with)
