We were watching the glass blowing competition show on netflix because it's really cool to see those talented artists do their thing...
But I will NEVER forgive the judges for eliminating an amazing artist who's concept was that plastic hamster tubes are actually dangerous for hamsters yet they are normalized in our society so they made a beautiful glass rendition of an endless loop of colorful hamster tubes as an expression of how we can be trapped by society in a loop of behavior that is normalized but actually killing us
And the judges were like "this isnt DEEP ENOUGH" because they dont care enough about hamsters to learn and interpret the artist's statement at the level it was meant for.
Tumblr media
They literally saw the glass renditions of colorful tubes that represent suffering and being trapped in a glossy predesigned hell and went "this is too normal and isnt saying anything important actually" Fuck them!!!!
Anyways Gemma should have won and I'm so happy to see that she didn't let it stop her amazing concept and she continued with it outside of the time constraints of the show. Fuck yes Gemma

it's extremely critical that you see the photo of the perp walk for luigi mangione as being propaganda. i've seen so many people wave it off and instead fawn over his looks. and trust me, i know it ended up being kind of pathetic and weird - but please don't brush it off as a "modelling opportunity" for him. it's a fucking terrifying message the police are sending.
i want to make a few comparisons here, in case you're not from the US or familiar with why the perp walk thing is something to pay attention to. just to set the groundwork for why this is a purposeful, unusual, and cruel act by the nyc police - for why this is not a common occurrence and for why that matters.
the prosecution alleges the show of force is due to the charge of "terrorism." for comparison, in june 2015, tsarnaev was found guilty for the boston marathon bombing, which killed 3 people and injured hundreds. his actions are considered to be an act of domestic terrorism. i have spent the last hour looking through google for pictures of similar to mangione's perp walk - and so far, i have found zero. i also just do not personally remember a moment like that, despite living in boston at the time.
they allege that luigi is a stone-cold killer who carried out a longterm plan, making him particularly dangerous. again for comparison: in nyc, recently cory martin was found guilty of the killing of brandy odom. the murder was planned and premeditated to steal insurance money. and yet no staged perp walk. why didn't her life matter enough for a "show of force"?
but mangione gets paraded by a veritable army of police officers as if he is a rabid animal. for a single citizen who allegedly killed one other single citizen, the "largest perp walk ever" occurs.
so what is the "strong message" that the mayor and the police were trying to send here? the mayor speaks as if mangione is already convicted of terrorism. there is a very thin number of people who feel threatened by the CEO's death. none of us felt like mangione needs to be under massive armed guard.
the message is that you shouldn't resist. they are trying to "make an example" of him - that if you behave badly and kill a single rich person, you'll be treated as if you killed hundreds of people. you will be treated worse than a man who was found guilty of terrorism. you will be considered guilty without trial. the message is that the rich are a protected class, and you cannot touch them without massive punishment. they are trying to prevent a revolution by showing dominance and force against you.
the message is that the police are a puppet of the wealthy and that the law is not equally applied across class disparity. it is "some are more equal than others." it is "one life is more precious than another."
the show of force wasn't for luigi. it was for us. it was a warning. they are trying to remind us who is really in control.

In fact most masters of the order's finest teacups were made during crèche crafting time when the kids were learning pottery.

Little P.Eng. for Discrete Element Modeling (DEM) Services
In a world driven by technological advancements, the ability to understand granular systems at a particle level has never been more essential. This precise understanding has been made possible through a computational technique known as Discrete Element Modeling (DEM). While many entities offer DEM services, Little P.Eng. has carved a niche for itself as a front-runner in this specialized domain.
Understanding Discrete Element Modeling (DEM)
Before diving into the specifics of Little P.Eng.'s offerings, it's essential to demystify DEM:
DEM is Calculation-based Modeling: At the heart of DEM is mathematics. This method uses precise calculations to predict the behavior of individual particles within a system. By doing so, it can accurately predict the interactions and outcomes when these particles are subjected to various conditions.
DEM Allows for Visualizing Results: One of the standout features of DEM is its ability to provide visual results. Users can observe:
Particle Velocity: Understand the speed and direction of individual particles.
Forces: This includes shear (parallel to the surface) and normal (perpendicular to the surface) forces that the particles experience.
Moments: This refers to the bending and torsional (twisting) moments affecting the particles.
Acceleration and Material Scatter: Track how quickly particles move and the variations in their dispersion patterns.
DEM: More than just Flow Simulation: While DEM is instrumental in predicting the flow of bulk materials, its capabilities extend beyond this. It plays a crucial role in understanding:
Wear Patterns: Predict how equipment will fare over time by simulating particle interaction and the resultant wear.
Mixing: Understand how different particles mix, which is vital in industries like pharmaceuticals and food production.
Center Loading: This refers to the loading pattern where materials concentrate towards the center, crucial in industries like construction.
DEM Programs: The Power Behind the Predictions
Any tool is only as good as the software powering it. When it comes to DEM, numerous programs can be used to perform this intricate modeling:
EDEM: A market leader, renowned for its comprehensive modeling capabilities.
PFC (Particle Flow Code): Known for its versatility, offering both 2D and 3D simulations.
LIGGGHTS: An open-source powerhouse that's both versatile and widely accepted.
Rocky DEM: Its strength lies in simulating realistic particle shapes, crucial for specific industries.
Yade: An open-source tool prized for its extensibility.
Abaqus: A multi-faceted software that, beyond its renowned finite element analysis, offers DEM capabilities.
Ansys Rocky: Building on the Ansys platform's strengths, it focuses on granular flow simulations.
Barracuda Virtual Reactor: Ideal for energy sector applications, especially particle reactions.
Also there are some open sources:
Kratos Multiphysics is developed by CIMNE (International Center for Numerical Methods in Engineering) in Barcelona and covers all kinds of numerical simulations, including DEM/PEM and DEM/PEFM-FEM coupling.
YadeDEM is a DEM package that is specifically designed for geomechanics.
Woo is a fork of YadeDEM with a strong focus on parallel computing and portability.
LAMMPS is a general purpose DEM/PEM.
LIGGGHTS is a general purpose DEM software that includes heat transfer simulations and is based on LAMMPS.
ESyS Particle is developed at the University of Queensland, Australia, with a focus on geoscientic/geotechnical applications.
GranOO is a general purpose DEM.
MercuryDPM is a general purpose Discrete Particle Method (DPM) software.

update: urgent help needed
i know i've just recently asked for help, but now that i said that i attempted, the people who I've been staying with for the past couple months since escaping my abuser won't let me stay here any longer. and as of right now i have 11 days (June 5th) to find a new place to stay. id emphasize that i am not from here and don't know where to go, i am disabled and this has completely blindsided me as obviously this is a lot to wrap my head around all while recovering from a recent suicide attempt. so I'd seriously appreciate anyone's help finding me a new place to stay and/or donations to help me survive going forward. I'm in Arkansas as of right now but am willing to relocate anywhere and i should have transportation.
paypal
i will try to answer any DMs as quickly as possible
please help and spread this!!

The Nappers
Dpxdc Prompt #10
Danny was really excited to spend the summer with his second cousin(?) he didn't really remember, but apparently Jack Fenton's cousin was Gotham billionaire Bruce Wayne, a serial adopter.
Jazz had discovered the connection and gave him a call to see if he'd mind Danny staying over for summer because Danny decided he was going to tell his parents at the end of summer about his ghost problem, and Jazz wanted him to have a safety net.
He didn't really have a big family at home, with his parents being largely... absent and Jazz moving to Gotham for college. It would be great to be in a house that wasn't empty again.
Now if only his newly discovered family could stay awake long enough for Danny to talk to them.
"So how's living with our cousins?" Jazz asked him through his Fenton-phone. He flopped onto his bed and groaned.
"They're all seem nice but I haven't really seen enough of them to know yet."
"Danny, you've already been there a week, shouldn't you know them at least a little bit? You usually warm up to people quickly, as long as they aren't trying to kill you."
"Man I kinda wish they were out to get me, then I'd probably see more of them than I have already."
"..."
"..."
"Okay Danny walk me through our family, and what you know so far about them."
"Well first there's Dick, he apparently lives in Bludhaven and supposedly comes back to Gotham to visit fairly often, haven't seen any of him yet though."
"Then there's Jason, I've seen him come over after dinner a couple of times, but he's seemed in a really bad mood and I'm getting weird vibes from him so I haven't talked to him much yet either."
"Cass, Steph, Tim, Damian, and Bruce are the ones that actually live here at the manor and outside of when I first arrived I haven't actually seen them awake enough to talk to me. Anytime I've caught a glimpse of them they're taking naps and I'd feel bad waking them up, Tim especially (he looks like he needs the rest)."
"What are they, nocturnal or something?
"That's what I thought too! But the Manor is even more dead during the night than the day. If I had wanted to live with a bunch of zombies I'd have spent summer in the zone, not come all the way here."
"The only people that have stayed awake long enough for me to actually get to know them are Duke and Alfred! Duke's great, but he seems to have a day job so I only see him for breakfast and dinner and any time I can catch him before he sleeps after. Alfred's amazing, but he already has so much to do around the Manor, I feel bad bothering him."
"It is only the first week you're there, and there was a huge Arkham breakout your first day so everybody around Gotham is a bit tense while the Bats are trying to recatch everyone. Could you give it another week for me? See if it'll be an option for if our parents react badly?"
"For you, Jazz, I'll give it another week, but I can't just trade one empty house for another."
"Thanks, little brother."
"Love you, Jazz, bye."
Danny hung up the phone and sighed, he new there was something off with his cousins, but he couldn't quite place it. Constantly napping, disappearing during the nights, but always on guard when they were awake.
He had a week to figure it out, but if he didn't there'd be no real lost love. He'd come up with some excuse, stay with Jazz for the summer or something. If his parents reacted badly and he didn't have this safety net, it'd be difficult sure, but Danny and Jazz would figure it out.
Danny thought it would be nice to have some other family that had his back for once, but hey, maybe he just had shitty luck when it came to blood relations.

simon having to stuff his mask in your mouth when he’s eating you out because you’re so loud, it might wake up the rest of the squad :((
(oh but they are awake—callused hands fisting their own cocks, thumbs pressing down on their leaking slits. the new sounds of your muffled and gargled voice just makes them buck harder, and they bite down on their lips to smother the curses.
simon knows they’re awake—even you do—but there is something so maddening at the pretence. at the way simon’s bulk and his strength and his touch manhandles you, fills you, overpowers you.)

Eddie: Am I gay or is Harrington just conveniently and infuriatingly hot?
Gareth: Why are you asking me??
Eddie: Well, it takes one to know one.
Gareth: ... Yeah, he's hot.
Eddie: But you're not. You're just gay.
Gareth: You know what else I'm not?
Eddie: What?
Gareth: Your friend.
