Santo made DON'T WAKE THE NIGHT a few years back and that game also had such a solid understanding of community and connections, and it really feels like cyberrrevolution just pumps everything from that game to eleven in terms of scale and intent and an understanding of the struggle of native peoples for justice and recovery from imperial and colonial forces.

things used to help citizens, like Medicare, or the national suicide hotline being defunded

the us president is wildly transphobic, which I can barely even begin to describe all of the things done regarding that, and this post is already incredibly long

like. the mass kidnapping of people, both immigrants and us citizens alike, and sending them to foreign concentration/death camps, and at least according to (which, people irl called me crazy when i said that's what was going to happen. look where we are now fuck face.), i.e. CECOT, and its "mystery lump" (i have an image timeline, however it is horrific and I will not post here directly, I will likely not rb on my mod blog, however i do have it for preservation reasons)

to reiterate. Take your time. Breathe. Things are bad. They will be alright. I am spiraling a little. But! We will outlive them. by sheer TIME. we will outlive them. they're geriatric. and. we outnumber them! things will be hard. but you will survive. i believe in all of you :)

talking about american history with argoomfie (argentinian oomfie) who is a history major like myself and also very smart, i respect his opinions quite a bit

but yk as an argentinian he unsurprisingly has a massive bone to pick with america and has this very odd sort of stance where, in his efforts to like. downplay american struggles since yk he hates us, he's ending up talking about how america has always been unified from its inception and didn't know what real internal division looked like until the civil war, meanwhile LATAM was speed running civil wars for centuries

which the latter is obvious true they've had a ton of civil wars, some of which were directly our fault

but in saying america has always been united he's ironically echoing the sort of ahistorical education you'll get in public schools here, america was anything but unified and had tons of internal division. the continental army was constantly at low morale because nobody gave a shit about "america" and only cared about, say, pennsylvania. and then they'd go down to south carolina or something, and they'd be mad about it, and then suddenly all the pennsylvanians in the continental army would start deserting and running back home because they didn't care about defending south carolinians (i picked these states arbitrarily this was a very universal phenomenon) and then obviously we had shay's rebellion not long after independence, which made george washington the only president in american history to have used the national army against its own citizens

but our schools will teach you that americans believed in an american dream from the beginning right, they'll talk about valley forge and the tough american spirit and all this shit. and my friend is inadvertantly echoing all of these ahistorical talking points because he (understandably) doesn't like america and so doesn't actually believe we have had any problems similar to his own country, since he believes his own country has always had it worse
