Further examination of his red blood cell, Platelets and the protein count in his plasma, to gauge how well his blood would coagulate over time, while the effects of consuming Tumbledust has significantly lowered the count, he was slowly making progress as there were some improvements. “So far, you seem to be on the road of recovering… slow, but I am sure we can get there eventually, there has been a minimal increase in your plasma counts, and platelets, but not much to say you can return to handling sharp objects… I am hoping you’re not, Master Jiaoqiu, and you have no signs of Lycanthropy so that rules out any further conclusion of you becoming a borisin.” You explained, all while scribbling on his patient forms that would be sent back to Cauldron master Lingsha, and further approval by Head Alchemist on the Yaoqing, Yingyue. “With this, I would like you to be placed on a higher dose of anti-inflammatories, to help reduce the swelling in your wounds. That, or need I remind you that you are not to ingest spicy foods, Master Jiaoqiu.” You slowly raised a brow at him as he turned to you, pulling out his fan that was underneath his alchemy commission uniform that he had removed so you could treat his injuries. He delicately fanned himself a few times, before hiding his lips behind the coloured feathers. 

“I would never betray the doctors’ words, no knives or spicy food here. Are you insinuating that your patient ingested spicy foods? Y/N you wound me… I would never,” He stated with a cunning smile pulling at his lips behind that fan, his tail swaying behind him as he took in the results of his examination. “But is it really my fault that Moze had hotpot, I couldn’t turn down such a request, even Feixiao was there.” He soon added, nodding his head innocently as his ears twitched in your direction. 

“So you did have Spicy food, is that what you're telling me?” You pressed, raising a brow as he kept fanning himself, concealing his smile. 

“I never said that, I just said that Moze might have offered it to me. But as such a good patient, I never touched a drop. I instead had to sit and watch my so-called friends enjoy a hotpot in front of me, it was quite cruel, really…” His fluffy ears drooped down, as he dramatically acted as if it had taken a toll on him that he couldn’t have some. Your expression fell into a deadpanned glare as he kept innocently fanning himself, humming all innocently, you knew that this sly foxian had made the hotpot himself and threw the blame at Moze to get off any kind of lecture. You feigned a sigh in defeat as you allowed him to win at his little game, “Alright, whatever the patient says… but know your slight increase of white blood cells, and redness on your laceration tells me otherwise,” You simply pointed out as you began working on removing the now loosened bandages around his shoulders and chest, you had seen your fair share of injuries and wounds, but the deep claw marks along his chest with lingering parts of decaying flesh seemed to leave a deep pang in your heart… reading about his injuries were bad enough, but seeing them in person was just as bad. 

The audacity he had as he simply hummed in reply and with a nonchalant shrug, “I have no idea what you’re insinuating here, doctor,” He added, placing his fan down to reveal that sly fox-like grin, as he lifted his head proudly, more so that you could work on his wounds better. But upon sensing your concern with his wounds, Jiaoqiu slowly fell into silence as he turned away, “This is nothing. I can handle this, there is no need to look at me with… pity.” 

You felt an all-familiar annoyance stir inside you as if small flicking flames lapped at the insides of your chest as your movements slowed down, “It isn’t pity… it was concern Jiaoqiu when the incident reports were handed to us, it was worrying… especially when there was no news or context from the Luofu. I knew something was covered up, and it involved Hoolay, something for sure went wrong… it may not be my place to ask what happened, but… You shouldn’t bare yourself to a wolf's fangs… and ingest Tumbleweed… even if you had a plan.” you whispered, gripping the bundle of bandages in your hands that you had removed, “You could have died, then what-” 

“I would have died fulfilled and content, Y/N.” He cut her off, a heavy sigh ruminating from his chest as he still refused to face you entirely, his brow furrowing in annoyance as he refused to accept your concern for him. 

“Would you really say that?” You pressed, your shoulders slouching as you continued to remove the last of the bandages to fully observe the wound in its entirety. Yet unlike before, you weren’t phased, instead, your heart simply felt like it was crumbling at his words. However, Jiaoqiu remained silent when you pressed him, his ears folding back a tad, it was a sign that you were right in some way. Despite the deafening silence, you continued to work on him, applying the Pathovore Bugs onto the rotting parts of his wounds, all while she delicately ran her scalpel over the unhealthy flesh to promote excess skin growth. Jiaoqiu grunted softly, leaning back onto his arms as he tried to push himself through the uncomfortable sensation, he didn’t want to be seen as weak or vulnerable, even though he was the one knocking on death's door. Yet his stubbornness to admit anything or the fact that for once he required treatment was unyielding, even when he was in pain. 

The silence continued to hover between them, once playful banter turned to a darkened cloud of tension, but, Jiaoqiu managed to face Y/N once more, parting his lips as he tried to find the words to say something, “Why do you care so much. Don’t they say laying your life out on the path of the hunt is a blessing…?” He managed to whisper out, his voice almost weak and one could even say vulnerable. Y/N glanced up, but unlike the look of annoyance or a frown, she offered him a compassionate gaze, “We are both healers, different kinds sure, but in the end, we are here to help those in need. I know you have lost many patients, as have I… I may not have been through or seen what you have on the Front Lines… but we share the same burdens of what we do is the right thing…” Your voice was soft, yet anyone could hear the way your words seemed to break through the ragged breaths you took in as you tried to formulate each word with sincerity, “But… we… no, you shouldn’t allow yourself to go through such measures… General Feixiao is already strong on her own, and your patient can only go as far as they can if their healer is also healthy, I have seen too many people die over nothing to claim they did so in the name of The Hunt… but it felt like they were throwing themselves away.” 

You gently removed the bugs, placing them in a glass beaker as you kept talking, “As I said… I don’t know what happened on the Luofu… but I know, you shouldn’t have risked yourself at such a high stake. There is always an alternative, another way to do things, picking the dangerous path isn’t always the right way.” You whispered, head now falling downwards as your ears drooped once more. You had seen so many soldiers come back from the battlefields injured and proclaiming proudly that if they died, they did so for The Aeon Lan, but, it more so felt like they were throwing themselves at the denizens of Abundance without another thought of a better strategy. Y/N slowly bit on her bottom lip as she continued with the treatment by applying liberal amounts of the ointment onto his wounds, before securely wrapping them up in bandages. 

During the quiet moment as Y/N worked, Jiaoqiu found himself sighing once more, shaking his head as his expression softened slightly to that of contentment. “You might have been right, I could have found another way… but I made it, did I not?” He replied in a lighter tone, even if you swatted his side with the flick of your fluffy tail, “You’re just as reckless as the Merlin’s Claw, she is rubbing off on you. You know… there would be a lot of people upset if you had died… I am sure even Moze would be upset in his way… you may have been fulfilled as you say, but what about the others that care for you?” you added, making sure that each one of his wounds was fully covered, before you soon sat back in your chair, your mind also wanted to add ‘what about me?’ yet, you didn’t. The Foxian offered you a sad smile, as he turned to the direction of the pot plant, “You’re not wrong, Y/N.” He reluctantly whispered, his voice holding a sense of vulnerability yet again, each word spoken like a prayer, with an ear twitch he turned back to you, this time with a more genuine smile.

“I am sure you would have been deeply hurt. To think during your training you said you hated me and my spicy food you could smell from a mile away…” His demeanour shifted to his usual self, sly and jabbing, which seemed to stir you up, evident as your tail swished around in annoyance as you finished up with his wounds, giving him the space he needed to change back into his clothes. “Stop being snarky… you seriously need to take better care of yourself.” You huffed as you turned to clean your instruments, all while he resumed fanning his delicate face once more, his soft pink hair flowing with each motion of his fan as he continued that same mocking smile. “I know. I can’t promise anything.” He hummed, for once he spoke truthfully, “But, I will do my best, I have no guarantees.” 

“That's all I wanted to hear, Jiaoqiu.” Your shoulders eased up and relaxed at his words, her heart feeling ever so lighter. 

“You know, you dropped the formalities halfway, this is quite intimate, Y/N, I am almost flattered, after many years and now you call me by my name and not Master Jiaoqiu,” As usual he tried his best to get under your skin, still calmly fanning himself. He expected you to retaliate or shoot back another snarky comment, yet you did something that surprised him… You gently hugged him, wrapping your arms around his lower torso to avoid touching his wound, as much as he wanted to open his eyes in surprise, the Foxian instead felt his expression melt into a soft fondness, one that wasn’t all that often seen. “You were that worried?” He finally admitted, moving one of his hands to delicately brush against your back soothingly. 

“Just promise me you will be more careful next time,” you whispered faintly, near one of his long ears that twitched at your words, his tail swaying side-to-side. 

“I can’t guarantee anything… but, if I get hugged like this, I might consider it.” He purred, still fanning the two of you with his fan, blissfully unaware of the edge of the fan catching a lit with the sizzling of fire lapping at the tips. Jiaoqiu quickly moved the fan to stop the fire from continuing with a silent huff of annoyance, “Maybe we could even go for some hotpot sometime?” 

You wanted to say he wasn’t allowed spicy food, but you were content from his words, you simply hoped that one day, he would take your words to heart, if not for your own sake, but maybe for those that were close to him…

yukimiya didn’t know what he was supposed to do now.

he clutched the papers from the doctor, walking to the nurse’s office at school for the information to be added to his profile at school. he walked with no emotion upon his usually jubilant and beautiful face, and it was as if all of the light had been sucked from his eyes.

“yukimiya?”

yukimiya looked up, and you stood in front of him, holding a few boxes in your hands. you were probably helping your teacher with moving things again.

yukimiya was fairly fond of you. you were kind and quick on your feet, and yet you always gave helpful, honest advice to your more delusional friends. he enjoyed being around you more than anything else at school. “oh, hello. how’s your day been going?” yukimiya asked, painting a smile over his frown on his face.

your eyebrows knit together. yukimiya recognized that look; his mother always had that look in his childhood whenever he had been crying and hid the fact from her. she always caught on quickly. “you seem upset, are you okay?” you placed your boxes on the floor next to you before walking closer to him, your head tilting slightly as you looked at him.

and as if water began overflowing in a glass after barely having not reach the point of spilling yet, tears began to spill from yukimiya’s eyes.

fat, warm tears stained yukimiya’s cheeks wet, and snot began leaking from his nose. if any of yukimiya’s fans had seen him like this, his modeling career and their crush on him would be over. but instead of looking at him with your face scrunched up in disgust from his current expression, you instead had him sit down with his back to the wall as you sat down next to him.

“what happened?” you asked, your voice soft. you assumed that it had to do with his eye and soccer career; after all, he got glasses even though he didn’t have them previously, and soccer was practically his whole life. yukimiya sniffled before looking at you.

“optic neuropathy,” yukimiya whispered. “there are black spots in my vision. treatment will help, but not fully cure it. worse case scenario, it causes blindness. the doctor said that i probably won’t be able to play soccer professionally anymore.” yukimiya sniffled again before he wiped his tears away, laughing.

“look at me. complaining to you about it even though it’s not even your problem. you should be helping the teacher, right? sorry, i know this is your free period and im not a very crier—“ before he could continue on with his idiocy, you grabbed his face in between both of your hands and faced him, your eyebrows furrowed and eyes narrowed.

“yukimiya kenyu,” you began, voice grave. your face darkened before your gentle cradle on his face turned into a stinging pinch. “first of all, i could care less about this being my free period. we still have months of school left, and that means hundreds of more free periods. second, no one cares that you’re an ugly crier! everyone ugly as shit when they’re sobbing and their face is all scrunched up when they’re bawling. you should’ve seen me when i read the chapter that gojo died!”

at your last comment, you could see yukimiya hold in a chuckle, which proved your effort worthy. “and also, maybe you won’t become the best forward in the world. maybe you really will become blind because of soccer. maybe all of your efforts wouldn’t have been worth it in the end. but yukimiya, i hope you know and realize that the result may be important, but…” you stopped your pinching, and you held his face as if you were holding the most precious and beautiful glass vase. “sometimes the joy of the process itself overshadows what was thought to be the joy that comes from the result.”

yukimiya’s eyes widened, and suddenly, a fresh batch of tears came to his eyes. but this time, it wasn’t of sadness. this time, warmth bloomed in his chest when the tears came. this time, his mind was clear of the negative thoughts when the tears came. and this time, instead of his vision being blurred by tears, his vision was being cleansed by the light right in front of him: you.

Could I request Reo, Yukimiya, and Chigiri with a fashion designer s/o?

Obviously being from a very wealthy family, Reo has had several custom or hand tailored pieces made for him.

He’s been to fashion week with his mother (mostly because they couldn’t find a babysitter or because she wanted to ‘bond’ doing what she wanted to do) so he is keen on fashion.

Being an aspiring fashion designer, Reo appreciates the unique ‘unpolished’ effort of their work. It’s something new that’s he’s discovered and he feels like it’s a little all his.

Completely one into being in one of their fashion shows if asked (or he volunteers).

In all honesty the whole fashion thing is a little lost on Yukimiya, but he is supportive.

He doesn’t get a lot of the nuances of fashion, or internal references to past designs or show, but he appreciates the information. He also picks up on it quick because he likes pattern recognition.

Clothing really isn’t of interest to him, but obviously eyewear is.

Yukimiya helps them design custom sport & fashion eyewear as part of their portfolio. Focusing on aesthetics but also function for people with optic neuropathy like him. Yukimiya become the unofficial spokesperson for their brand.

Thanks to his sister, Chigiri knows a little about fashion. When you spend most of your life hearing her yap about it, or being her dress up doll, you pick up some things.

At first Chigiri thought that fashion was silly. Just wear what’s comfortable and keep it moving. But being with them he’s learned a lot about expression and the duality of masculine & feminine.

Being someone who was thought of as more feminine but being male, Chirgiri thought this was always a bad thing. However his partner showed him that it’s ok to be both. That there is softness in the masculine and strength in the feminine.

He gets a little more confident in himself and even offers to walk in one of their shows, to much praise and acclaim by critics.

yukimiya kenyu has always been the kind of man that never stops, not until he gets what he wants. he has been like this since he was young, when all he had wanted was the new anpanman figure.

eventually, he had set his sights on bigger and brighter dreams: being top of his class, learning his favorite song on piano, winning a world cup.

what he never knew was that one day, all those big and beautiful goals of his that he had dedicated everything for: those visions and dreams he spent every fibre of his being pursuing, were things he would never be able to actually see.

because he was going blind.

slowly.

day by day.

all those little things he took for granted growing up suddenly fall crashing down upon him. if only, all those foolish things he had prayed for had been for this. if only god could hear him now, crying like when he was brought into this world. if only he had never been allowed to dream: to have gotten a taste for satisfaction.

his doctor tells him that it is unlikely he will ever be able to go pro. because with every minute he spends on the field, his eyes are irreparably damaged.

optic neuropathy is a condition characterized by damage to the optic nerve. in his case, it is due to restricted blood flow: something that is only exacerbated by strenuous physical activities.

activities like soccer.

when his body is fatigued, the blood flow to his optic nerve is unable to properly pass through to supply oxygen to his eyes. this leads to black spots in his vision during these times. often, the vision is most affected in the peripherals: one of the most critical spots of vision for anyone playing a sport like soccer.

it is a degenerative condition, accompanied by symptoms like nausea and headaches (which is caused by the combination of the restricted blood flow and his brain trying to cope with his obscured vision).

should yukimiya have given up on his dream then, he likely would never have run the risk of going fully blind: at least not until he was much older than he is now.

but kenyu has never known when to stop, even if it was for his own good.

he had always been the type to work himself to exhaustion, even when exhaustion just meant falling asleep at his desk. but, now, exhaustion meant eventual and permanent blindness. sooner than later.

for him, losing everything just to taste his dream was better than never having known.

that's what he had thought for a long time.

he was simply fighting a clock, to win a world cup before his vision goes fully black. it's all he has wanted for a long while now.

it's something he finds rattled the second he meets you.

everything around him freezes for just a moment, the world seems a hell of a lot brighter than it had been for the last year. he thinks, for just a moment, the angel he prayed for has descended down from heaven to bless him.

and with the sound of his heart pounding in his ears, his sight clouding around the edges: as if forcing his focus to you. for just a moment, he finds himself cursing what he can't see, the beauty that is being hidden from him. he finds himself wishing he had chosen to preserve his sight, selfishly.

"yukimiya, correct? my name is y/n, and i'll be your manager while you're here with training with us." wow, you even sound like an angel.

then it all rushes back to him: he's in the second phase of the blue lock project, meeting the team he has chosen to better himself with. he is here to pursue his dream, he doesn't have the time to sit here and blush over some girl.

but you're not just some girl; no, you're so, so much more. so, he finds himself discarding the training regiment he had been doing to approach.

your hand extends with a bottle, the bastard munchen insignia on the side: almost mocking him. he finds himself taking it with a small thanks, regulating his breathing and sippling a gulp as those voids in his vision begin to clear up.

kenyu knows it isn't true, but he has the fleeting thought that it clears because of you. "yes, thank you, miss y/n," he speaks, voice honey sweet as it had always been.

you smile and he swears that the clouds parted to let the sun grace him. "it is my pleasure, and just y/n is fine: we are the same age, after all."

that hits him as he finds himself thinking so annoyingly like the teenage boy he is. but he doesn't stop himself from indulging the thought of you, just this once

yukimiya allows the fantasy of taking you out, pinkies locked while you drag him to whatever sweet street vendor you set your pretty eyes on. he enables himself to imagine the thought of putting a ring on your finger, to watch miniature versions of himself running around your legs.

as he finds himself pondering whether your children would have his eyes or yours, he freezes.

this is something he will never be able to see without imagining it. yukimiya kenyu will never be able to actually see you in a wedding dress. and that rattles him somewhere deep in his core.

for a long time, all his sights had ever been focused on was the soccer ball he can dribble from one end of the field to the other: all on his own.

but, now, he finds himself wanting to be able to see you watching him from the sidelines.

and he never will.

because kenyu cannot see in his peripheral, no matter how bright you shine.

he finds himself cursing god for the fist time in his life.
