So Patrick goes and talks shit right back, which honestly doesn’t help because they already think Art and Patrick are gay for each other. Patrick manages a few good hits, but one on two isn’t good odds, and he winds up with a blood nose, a split lip; and a cut on his eyebrow before a coach steps in and forces them apart.

When he makes it back to their dorm, his entire face hurts. Art sees and just walks out, grabs some ice, and comes back to clean Patrick up. He doesn’t ask questions, he doesn’t lecture. He just sits on the bed and wipes away the blood.

Maybe he leans in and kisses the blood off of Patrick’s mouth. And Patrick can’t even complain about the pain of his split lip when Art’s being sweet like that.

But then Art’s poking at his cheekbone and Patrick hisses in pain. “That hurts, asshole.”

“You’re so fucking stupid,” Art says, but his free hand is already moving to palm Patrick’s obvious hard-on through his shorts. He’ll make him forget all about his battered face.
