These Are the Benefits of Paraphrasing in Academic Writing
Tumblr media
The ability to paraphrase or rewrite material in one’s own words is a vital skill for all writers and a major facet of the proofreading and editing process. This is especially true for academic writers, who will often need to cite numerous sources to support their arguments; they can achieve this with the aid of Proofessor’s excellent paraphrasing services, which will be able to help the writer rephrase existing content without changing the original text’s intended meaning.
Of course, paraphrasing is a fine art, and it requires the writer to know the material they are rephrasing; you can only put something into your own words if you understand the source information. Navigating a paraphrase can be a tricky business, which, like all areas of proofreading and editing, may require numerous drafts and the support of paraphrasing services to help the final product convey the intended message.
One thing to remember is that a decent paraphrase will avoid the threat of plagiarism. Many students have reported that, despite their best efforts, their submitted work features unintentionally misappropriated elements.
Thus, always recognise your sources and completely restate the content, which is something we at Proofessor’s paraphrasing services and our proofreading and editing services will identify as potential issues during revisions. A well-paraphrased text will retain the original text’s intended meaning while offering the writer’s fresh perspective, cited sources and correctly quoted material.
Consequently, writers will find that their work improves enormously. The confidence gained from successfully and legitimately rephrasing content means that other aspects of one’s writing will become stronger.
For example, using different words, sentence structures, paragraph formatting and so on will invariably improve the writer’s skill set because they consider how to create content in fresh new ways.
For those who struggle to rewrite material, remember that practice makes perfect, and the result of learning how to paraphrase is an enhanced writing capacity. One solution would be to enlist paraphrasing services or proofreading and editing support from services at www.professor.co.uk where our editors can suggest alternate phrasing or ways to reword the material. Reading another person’s work in this context is advantageous because it indicates ways to make a point the writer may have missed. A canny writer will take note and apply such an approach to their own work.
Paraphrasing can also benefit students because it helps to expand their vocabulary. For example, a rewrite may entail a different tone of voice, which, in turn, necessitates certain words and phrases. Paraphrasing also requires numerous synonyms; in other words, saying the same thing using different words.
Paraphrasing is like a puzzle because it involves unlocking the text’s meaning using additional phraseology, and synonyms will help make this happen. Read the work rephrased by paraphrasing services: these updated documents show how one can convey a clear point without replicating the original text.
In short, paraphrasing, proofreading and editing expand one’s knowledge base and vocabulary. Writers’ skills will grow because they encounter new terms and phrasing, which they can memorise and use further down the line.

Thought about making a fan-chapter for Slay The Princess as well but what the hell could I even say. I fear all the beats of a heart have already been spelled out in the night sky.
#like whenever i see a coolass fan Princess I'm like 'hmmm Perhaps i should make one'#and then I go 'oh wait i have nothing to say'#like...the way I see my childhood? The Tower/Apotheosis already exists and so does The Fury#the way I perceive the world and social interactions and the way it influences my perception of myself? The Cage and The Razor are#already in the game. So is The Thorn.#the way I exist as a product with no inner self; simply a service that can't keep its eyes off the social clock?#yeah well Damsel and HEA are already in the game too.#literally nothing left for me to say. i don't have a perspective to add i fear.#like i COULD but it'd be largely intersecting with HEA. because the only thing i can think to add is Sternberg's#uuuuh Recovery story (i assume it's called that in English? maybe Healing story? pretty sure Recovery is more likely)#but i think it's very intertwined with the Fantasy story; at least specifically in STP. because while HEA is mostly a depiction#of the impermanence of love as a Fantasy story (i hate that English name. it's so stupid. why isn't it called a Fairytale story#like in the Czech translation. it's way more accurate because it describes the idea of love as a grand epos with knights and princesses#and a happy ending. literally characterised by the thought that your partner is like a prince or a princess and that there is your#one true love waiting for you and that love should mimic fairytales and that it ends in a happily ever after)#anyway yeah HEA is partly about the impermanence of that. but the way Damsel and her HEA version think and function is reminiscent of#the Sacrifice story and the Recovery story. more so the Sacrifice one. but honestly i think people with either of these#stories have similar patterns of thinking?#so uh yeah. so it's like. yeah sure i could go on the stage and ramble about those two stories#for hours but like. I'd probably just paraphrase HEA and Damsel.

My church talked about this the other day!
Our speaker shuffled to the podium and began with “I know we’ve talked about diversity at length - race, sexuality, disability
Today we’re going to look at another metric.”
She gestured to our group - most with white hair, “We can’t deny, we have a bit of an age demographic here.”
Our group laughed, because it’s true. That day we discussed how church attendance has been declining for the past 20 years, and young people just don’t come. Why not? We all know our church is great! Every Sunday we have fresh brownies, hot tea, and a great attitude.
The minister said it basically boils down to “Organized religion gets stuffy. Our Rules for Gathering are founded in keeping energy levels low, keeping things, well, organized. Maybe it’s time for an overhaul.”
“The most important thing a church can do today to accommodate young adults is to ease their loneliness. I think that should be our new focus. Our space can also be a space for the things young people like. Maybe we can host a D&D group! Or watch movies!”
As a young adult, I really appreciated that service.
i am so serious when i say we as young adults are so starved and deprived of community

Today’s Good Omens posting is about *spins wheel*
how Crowley’s self-loathing colors the way he sees Aziraphale’s interactions with him and how we should take that negative bias into account
I’m not even gonna talk about the whole final scene/misunderstanding because we’ve all talked about that one by now. Instead I want to talk about Crowley’s description of the 3 reasons Aziraphale calls him:
(Paraphrasing) “you’re bored; you need to tell someone about something clever you did; something’s wrong”
this is a succinct breakdown and it lowkey paints Aziraphale in a bad light; Aziraphale only calls Crowley when it’s beneficial to him; this is a transactional relationship
but like, I think, to some degree, those 3 reasons are simply the only reasons Crowley can actually imagine Aziraphale being interested in talking to him. The last one is a common song and dance between them, sure, but what about the first 2?
Aziraphale calling out of the blue, rambling about how things have been slow and quiet in the neighborhood of late and wanting to take that time to catch up - Crowley can’t fathom ‘Aziraphale missed my voice and wanted to make sure I was doing okay’ and turns it into ‘Aziraphale is just bored obviously’
Aziraphale calling, absolutely giddy, talking a mile a minute about something clever he’s done can’t possibly be ‘I’m the first person he wants to share his victories with, the person whose opinion matters the most to him now and always’ so instead it’s ‘Aziraphale just needed someone to tell this to before he popped’
(There’s an interesting thing implied here as well, which is that it’s Aziraphale calling Crowley regularly and yet we talk about how Aziraphale isn’t taking initiative in the relationship but I digress)
Point is, I think Crowley knows that Aziraphale likes him, it’s part of what makes everything so heartbreaking - the way he ends up being rejected in spite of that - but just like I think he misunderstands Aziraphale’s heaven proposal because he can’t see that Aziraphale thinks he is better than heaven already, he misunderstands any reason Aziraphale would possibly reach out to him as some level of wanting something rather than
just wanting to talk to him. He doesn’t recognize that he is Enough for Aziraphale, no strings or acts of service attached.
We just need one amazing kiss conversation to set this straight

Thank you for that breakdown! I'm relieved that it doesn't appear to be a scam at least.
For those who are not aware: Bitlocker is encryption software, it encrypts your computer and makes it impossible to access the information on the computer unless you have the key.
It should be standard practice for IT companies to document the bitlocker keys as they are configuring bitlocker on a computer; generally you would do this by creating a record in your client management software for that specific device and putting the key in the record. Sometimes software can be used to extract that information in the event that it's necessary, but even if there's theoretically a way to extract the key, it should be documented somewhere *other* than on the encrypted computer.
This is something that a lot of IT people fuck up on kind of a lot (we've definitely had problems with missing bitlocker keys and I'm quite happy that the people who didn't document those keys aren't my coworkers anymore).
So what do you do if you want to use encryption software and you're NOT an IT company using a remote management tool that might be able to snag the keys?
When you are setting up encryption, put the encryption key in your password manager. Put it in your password manager. Document the important information that you cannot lose in your password manager. Your password manager is a good place to keep important things like your device encryption key, which you do not want lost or stolen. (If you run your password manager locally on an encrypted computer, export the data every once in a while, save it as an encrypted file, and put the file on your backup drive; you are going to have a bad time if your computer that hosts the only copies of your passwords shits the bed so *make a backup*)
This is my tip for home users for any kind of important recovery codes or software product keys: Print out the key and put it in your underwear drawer. Keep it there with your backup drive. That way you've got your important (small) computer shit in one place that is NOT your computer and is not likely to get shifted around and lost (the way that papers in desks often get shifted around and lost).

i read thru the whole 88 page judgment from the new UK supreme court decision and i need yall to understand how ABSURD it is that trans people are upset about this at all. long post but important bits highlighted in red bc i know everyone on this app has attention span issues
(context: (stick with me here)
1) the act sets out “it is discriminatory to exclude anyone on the basis of their sex.” and then a list of exceptions, so the single sex spaces/services allowed will be referred to as “exceptions” 2) the judge is looking at the whole act, and based on the language and context, deciding whether or not EVERY mention of “woman”, “man” or “sex” within the act was intended by parliament to include people with a gender recognition certificate or not. 3) we either can or cannot include people with a GRC. this is a discussion largely regarding single-sex services, it either includes TIMs with GRC and rejects TIFS with GRC or vice versa. that’s the most important factor and why it’s most absurd that trans people are upset about this.)
the main part that really stands out, one of the exceptions the judge relied on was regarding (paraphrased) “it would not make sense for a person of the opposite sex to need this service”. this refers to mainly medical treatments for sexed biology. not only does it not make sense for a TIM to need a service such as cervical cancer screening, but if we say this does include people with a recognized “female” gender, IT EXCLUDES TIFs. WHO ACTUALLY NEED THIS SERVICE.
Remember, we cannot make an exception for this specific kind of single-sex service - the word “sex” works just the same across the whole act. a judge cannot make amendments to the act, only interpret it, and it must be interpreted in context.
Even for a trans activist judge this would be a tricky spot to be in. it’s choosing between the “validity” of one trans-identified sex and the literal access to actually necessary healthcare for the other. this was made to protect those people and literally maintain their access to health services. Again, if we said this act was including people with a GRC, trans identified females would be excluded from countless necessary health facilities for women, vice versa.
alongside the gender recognition act, a grc still makes a trans identified person their desired gender for “all [other] purposes”, and the exceptions in the equality act are limited. mainly only government/healthcare services, maybe gyms (maybe), groups of under 25, higher education and communal accommodation. plus minus some.
it does not directly include bathrooms, (though they could be argued) but most certainly it does not mean “trans women are no longer women”. trans women are still literally “legally” women. all that’s really changed is an ability to recognise a difference between a “legal” female and a “biological” female, at this point only limited to within one act. that same act lists trans people as a protected group who MAY be discriminated against on the basis of their trans identity. trans women are legally women in literally every way besides within this one act. one exception to the rule "trans women are women".
this post is already super long but i might reblog it with some more things in the judgment that stood out to me later. also this was all written in one sitting so i might edit, forgive any typos or inaccuracies. i’m not registered and especially not in the UK so don’t take this as gospel or use as legal advice

Hi, @pyros-hollow. Let's clear the air.
On May 5th, you sent me these anon messages:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is how I responded to you:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The next day, you messaged me privately to apologize for making me uncomfortable. I thanked you for your apology, and reiterated that I did not mind if you wanted to write the same trope as me, but that I would like my versions of these works to remain mine. I expressed that I would have preferred if you had talked to me first.
I read your fic, I mentioned that I noticed a lot of similarities to my own writing, but that plagiarism can be tricky when you’re admittedly very inspired by another writer. I told you that this is where communication plays a huge role in avoiding these uncomfortable situations. Finally, I told you that I would like it if you unlinked your story from mine on ao3, and that you and I could work together to fix the parts that feel too close for comfort.
Initially I told you I would highlight portions I felt could be fixed. Upon rereading your story, I told you that it was not just specific lines, but it was the overall tone, structure, and premise that, in my opinion, strongly mirrored my writing. I told you I recognize that interpretation is subjective, but with all of this combined - emotional inflection, the way scenes are framed, sometimes dialogue and even the narrative voice that the story was written in - to me, closely echoed what I wrote. I told you it felt like a paraphrasing rewrite of my writing with slight changes.
I reiterated again that I do not own these tropes or general ideas, but the way they are expressed is something that is unique to every writer. I told you that my intention with this conversation was not to discourage you from writing, but to help you see the line between being inspired by work and unintentionally recreating it. I asked that instead of changing things line by line, to consider how you would write that story in the case that you had not read my work.
You bucked me every step of the way. You were not receptive to any of my advice, and you came up with multiple excuses to sidestep taking responsibility for your mistake. So finally, I told you that I was uncomfortable with this conversation, so I would be removing myself from the situation. I wished you the best with your writing going forward. Then, I blocked you. I did not talk about this on tumblr beyond answering your anon above.
You messaged me on Discord afterward, telling me that you felt horrible about making me uncomfortable. I did not respond to you.
Three days after this interaction, you posted this:
Tumblr media
You responded to anons mostly in favor of me, but some in favor of you, too. You also posted screenshots of our private conversation, which is against Tumblr’s terms of service.
You also admitted to making these harassing posts out of  “petty revenge”.
Tumblr media
At this point, my friend messaged you in good faith and advised that you take down these posts tagged with #drama and other things like that, understanding that this was a painful situation for us both, but that your choice to post these things was harmful for all parties involved. You were receptive to her, and took down these posts.
But by the end of May, you were sending anons about me to the confessions blog. The specific use of the word “greedy” gave you away. You used that word multiple times when you posted about me on your own blog.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These last two “confessions” were posted within the last couple days.
You were careless enough to like some of the posts on the confessions blog (these ones or other ones I can’t remember) which is why you were blocked by my friend who messaged you to take down those posts, as well as some other people. We’re not a clique, btw. Besides that one friend who messaged you, nobody knew what happened between you and I.
So, to sum it all up - you have:
Intentionally or not, plagiarized my fic. I attempted to deal with this privately, but

YOU took things public, posting about me in an attempt to validate yourself or send hate to me. You posted screenshots of our private conversation - again, something that goes against Tumblr’s terms of service.
You have publicly interacted with the confessions blog, which more writers beyond just me block - something they are well within their right to do.
You’ve also written incest, lol. No judgment here, obviously. I do think it’s interesting you want sympathy from the kink-shaming confessions blog to validate yourself. They think you’re just as disgusting as I am.
And publicly admitted to using AI to write your fics 👇
Tumblr media
And you’re bent out of shape that people are blocking you. That is a result of your own behavior.
I did not want to make this a public thing. I let it go until now, because you can’t. But since you want to make this public, let’s make this public. Let everyone see the role you played in this situation. I was patient with you. I was generous. I was kind. You made me uncomfortable, and I tapped out of the situation - this is how you chose to retaliate.
For someone who claimed to love me and respect me so much, this sure doesn’t feel like it. And I get that you’re my number one hater now - cute, btw. I’m glad you’re so proud of that. But I don’t think you ever respected me to begin with. Your behavior is appalling.

This is me being 100% petty, but how does it feel knowing that Jikookers were actually right about almost everything we said regarding the military and the buddy system
. and based on publicly available, factual information at that?
I’m not sure how many people remember, but we spent months pushing back against misinformation being spread by the cult, solos, and Jikook antis
all because they couldn’t handle the fact that Jimin and Jungkook enlisted together. We were constantly fighting off twisted narratives about how the buddy system works, only to be dismissed and called delusional.
Remember when Jungkook confirmed he was a cook? A certain JJK account on Twitter made a post claiming that cooks slept in a separate area and only spent time with other cooks. Somehow, that got spun into the idea that Jungkook couldn’t stand being around Jimin and chose to become a cook just to get away from him. That narrative spread like wildfire, and the antis used it for months to drag Jikook all based on completely false assumptions.
We tried to clarify, we tried to explain that that’s not how the buddy system works, but no one wanted to hear it. We were delusional for even trying to push back with facts.
Now, looking back, it’s almost funny how everything they claimed turned out to be wrong, while Jikookers, the ones who actually took time to research and understand how the system works were right all along. And still, the fandom crucified us, accusing us of romanticizing involuntary military service just because we dared to celebrate the fact that our faves didn’t have to go through such a difficult time alone.
News Outlets: Jimin and Jungkook would be enlisting together.
🐑: “Don’t trust the media. Trust only Taekook. That is totally Hybe paying the media to say that to feed jokers.”
Bighit: Jimin and Jungkook would be enlisting together.
🐑( Jay Mina and minions) : “Don’t worry guys my friends from the 1million and one imaginary group chats I am in said they would be separated after 5 weeks. They are Koreans who have been through the process so they know. Don’t mind jokers, they will be slapped in the face after 5 weeks.”
5 weeks later:
Kmedia: Jimin and Jungkook have been deployed to the artillery battalion in the 5th division.
🐑 : “DON’T trust the media. They are lying. We only trust TAEKOOK”
Jimin writes letter mentioning him and Jungkook are doing fine
🐑: “Don’t mind the queer baiter. Jungkook is definitely not with him and Jokers will be slapped in the face soon. Just wait and see.”
Jungkook: “I cook in the military” ( paraphrasing)
🐑 (the cult and JJKs) : “Cooks sleep in a very different unit. Jungkook chose to become a cook because he couldn’t stand being around #that member LMAOOOOO!!! "
Jungkook: “Jimin and I sing together, shower together, spend time together

..”
🐑: (Ignore him) Those who don’t ignore him: “so what? They are in the same base so they probably see each other once in a while. They all shower together! It’s not a honey moon

 "
🐑: “They don’t room together”
Jimin: “Jungkook and I are in the same dorm.”
🐑: “He is lying. He is a liar just making things up to feed his cult! Jungkook is not around that p!g!”
Jikook: “We slept together, made plans together, Jungkook slept on my arm, Jimin always wasted time when I told him we should go shower

”
🐑: Egg in faces but act all cool
See Jimin at airport traveling.
🐑: “See? They get a vacation and Jungkook chases to spend it farthest from that member LMAOOO”
A few hours later: Jungkook at the airport travelling too💀
These are just a few examples that come to mind, but honestly? It’s frustrating. We were treated like irrational, delusional shippers when we were the only ones trying to speak from a place of reason and understanding. The disrespect and lies were loud. We have been vindicated but it’s crazy how these people just moved on like they didn’t spend 18 months spinning narratives that ended up blowing up in their faces.

Let's Talk About Ir Abelas, Da'ean
As some of you may know, I am vehemently against the dishonest use of AI in fandom and creative spaces. It has been brought to my attention by many, many people (and something I myself have thought on many times) that there is a DreadRook fic that is super popular and confirmed to be written at least partially with AI. I have the texts to prove it was written (at least) with the help of the Grammarly Rewrite generative feature.
Before I go any further, let it be known I was friends with this author; their use of rewrite features is something they told me and have told many other people who they have shared their fic with. It is not however, at the time of posting this, tagged or mentioned on their fic on AO3, in any capacity. I did in fact reach out to the author before making this post. They made absolutely no attempt to agree to state the use of Rewrite AI on their fic, nor be honest or upfront (in my opinion) about the possibility of their fic being complete generative AI. They denied the use of generative AI as a whole, though they did confirm (once again) use of the rewrite feature on Grammarly.
That all said: I do not feel comfortable letting this lie; since I have been asked by many people to make this, this post is simply for awareness.
You can form your own opinion, if you wish to. In fact, I encourage you to do such.
Aside from the, once again, high volume word output of around 352K words in less than 3 months (author says they had 10 chapters pre-written over "about a month" before they began posting; they are also on record saying they can write 5K-10K daily) from November until now, I have also said if you are familiar with AI services or peruse AI sites like ChatGPT, C.AI, J.AI, or any others similar to these, AI writing is very easy to pick out.
After some intense digging, research, and what I believe to be full confirmation via AI detection software used by professional publishers, there is a large and staggering possibility that the fic is almost entirely AI generated, bar some excerpts and paragraphs, here and there. I will post links below of the highly-resourced detection software that a few paragraphs and an entire chapter from this fic were plugged into; you are more than welcome to do with this information what you please.
I implore you to use critical thinking skills, and understand that when this many pieces in a work come back with such a high percentage of AI detected, that there is something going on. (There was a plethora of other AI detection softwares used that also corroborate these findings; I only find it useful to attach the most reputable source.)
Excerpts:
82% Likely Written by AI, 4% Plagiarism Match
98% Likely Written by AI, 2% Plagiarism Match
100% Likely Written by AI, 4% Plagiarism Match
Some excerpts do in fact come back as 100% likely written by human; however, this does not mean that the author was not using the Grammarly Paraphrase/Rewrite feature for these excerpts.
The Grammarly Paraphrase/Rewrite feature does not typically clock as AI generative text, and alongside the example below, many excerpts from other fics were take and put through this feature, and then fed back into the AI detection software. Every single one came back looking like this, within 2% of results:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, in my opinion, and many others, this goes beyond the use of the simple paraphrase/rewrite feature on Grammarly.
Entire Chapter (Most Recent):
67% Likely Written by AI
As well, just for some variety, another detection software that also clocked plagiarism in the text:
15% Plagiarism Match
To make it clear that I am not simply 'jealous' of this author or 'angry' at their work for simply being a popular work in the fandom, here are some excerpts from other fanfics in this fandom and in other fandoms that were ran through the same exact same detection software, all coming back as 100% human written. (If you would like to run my fic through this software or any others, you are more than welcome to. I do not want to run the risk of OP post manipulation, so I did not include my own.)
The Wolf's Mantle
100% Likely Human Written, 2% Plagiarism Match
A Memory Called Desire
99% Likely Human Written
Brand Loyalty
100% Likely Human Written
Heart of The Sun
98% Likely Human Written
Whether you choose to use AI in your own fandom works is entirely at your own discretion. However, it is important to be transparent about such usage.
AI has many negative impacts for creatives across many mediums, including writers, artists, and voice actors.
If you use AI, it should be tagged as such, so that people who do not want to engage in AI works can avoid engaging with it if they wish to.
