X-Men in the Marvel Swimsuit Special
I can't decide if this is ridiculous or amazing. Realistically, it's both. Here's the X-Men featured in Marvel's Swimsuit Special. There's sadly no Magneto or Professor X.

'Take a Wakanda wild side' jesus Christ. I *think* this is meant to be Storm, with a macaw (I think) on her shoulder.

Go boys! Imagine if Greg Land drew this issue, ugh. Bishop, Cyclops and Gambit having a frolic on the beach. I thought Wakanda was land-locked. Whatever.

Looking hot, Rachel/Phoenix. Nice volcano flex, too. This style of undergarment has always looked impractical to me. Like how hard is it to avoid a front wedgie? No judgement though, of course.

Fantastic leopard print bikini briefs on Colossus here. I'm sure everyone is looking at the sunset ;)

Not sure I'd call that a sexy smile. It looks painted on. Are you ok, Rogue?

Okay that's fire. I love the design. Good for Polaris!

For the first time ever, Psylocke is overdressed. Sequins on a bathing suit is 👌

Val fucking Cooper? What is she doing here? At least we know the answer to 'what's up her ass?' A turtleneck one piece. I love the MASSIVE pistol accessory on Domino, as well as explicitly small boobs.

Group shot! Who cares if Wolverine is hairy? I wanna see him in a thong. Gambit knows what's up (and has a pretty big dick by the looks of things.) Archangel looks like he's not interested and is bailing.

Not X-Men but I had to include 90s surf bro Thor Odinson. Those sunglasses are next level. This guy can get you Asgardian steroids.

Polaris Computing Ltd., more commonly known as simply Polaris, was founded by Stanford graduate students Claire Tashi and Joel Lovinger in 2002. The company rapidly rose to prominence after the release of their sophmore operating system Andromeda in 2006. Users praised the system for its balancing of desirable traits from competing companies, namely Apple and Microsoft. Blending the heavy lifting of Windows with the visual sensibilities of Apple and a level of customization offered by neither allowed the small tech startup to skyrocket into financial success and industry acclaim.
Andromeda was a major improvement over its debut OS Centauri (released in 2003), marking major shifts towards a focus on smooth and instinctive UX and UI. The desire for a smooth and highly personalized user experience was Claire's contribution, and something that truly set Polaris's products apart. Joel's contribution was in functionality and capability, pushing their OS products to the limits of technical capability.
Eventually the company began creating its own devices to pair with its software, a way to further engage devoted customers and bring in more sales. While their operating systems could be installed on any device, the launch of the Cygnus desktop computer in 2008 was a foray into a new era of the company. Joel carefully oversaw the technical details of its design, the hardware used, and together with Claire personally monitored the progress of software development for the launch of Lyra, the follow up OS to Andromeda that would debut pre-installed on all Cygnus computers. Shortly after that Polaris released their first laptop, the Gemini. It would also use the Lyra OS, and promised to replicate as much of the experience of a desktop as technologically possible. The design ethos of the company persisted, and accessorizing the Gemini became increasingly popular. The company began to sell official cases and protective equipment in a variety of colours, patterns, and materials, along with laptop bags, headphones, mice and other accessories.
What would truly cement Polaris as an untouchable tech giant was an early wave smartphone meant to compete with the Blackberry: the Lynx. Released in 2009, for a while the Lynx was the only smartphone to properly compete for the market owned by RIM and the Blackberry and Apple's iPhone. Multiple versions of the Lynx with slight modifications were released, along with models in all sorts of colours. The parade of phone cases and charms and holders would further contribute to the individualization continued.
As the market shifted heavily in favour of touchscreens, and iPhones became the dominant cellular device on the market, Polaris too shifted with the tides. In 2011, the company released their own version of a touchscreen phone, essentially a miniature tablet with added features that carried a more true-to-desktop version of Polaris's OS: the Acrux.
This pattern of call and response would continue over the next decade as the company began to balloon to titanic proportions. Its value would grow in a way that seemed exponential. With solid leadership and a better-than-average public reputation than most tech companies of the era possessed it seemed there was nowhere but up, up, and up for Polaris and its C-suite executives. Shortly before the 20 year anniversary of Centauri's release, and what was sure to be a monumental milestone for its leaders, Claire would slowly phase out of the company. With her shares sold and redistributed, and Joel able to secure over approximately 52% ownership of the company's shares, he remained on board as the sole CEO of the company and its single largest shareholder.
This shakeup was met with Joel's very own press tour; interviews in magazines, glowing reviews on tech news sites for new Polaris products, and more public appearances and charitable donations. Amid this flurry of good press was the nugget that would explode into a major story in the tech world: Claire was out at Polaris, and the Lovingers had separated. As far as the public knew it was amicable, quiet. Things have carried on, but whispers in the network have revealed cracks in the foundation. With Claire came a small exodus of loyal supporters, particularly those aware of the impending divorce. New hires worked to Joel's advantage, giving the impression of a growing and thriving company. Polaris still pulls in unconscionable amounts of revenue every year, lining Joel's pockets nicely. So far he has been unscatched, the victor, a man on top of the world.

Doll Diary
Today is a mixed bag for me. I got a new Monster High doll (Frankie), I got my first ever Rainbow High (Junior High) called Amaya Raine and her hair is absolutely shocking. The glue/gel omg! Worst case I’ve ever come across as a collector who’s had dolls and ponies on and off for years.

Frankie is Gen 3 and comes with some accessories including her pet. She’s pretty cool. I always wonder why the skirts and dresses are so short on these dolls. Would it kill then to make it a little longer? Though there are some versions of the doll in trouser type outfits. I’m considering getting a Cleo next. Honestly, even now Clawdeen is still my least favourite. What I want most is the Ghoulia Creeproduction which is expensive but I want it 😅 so I might have to get it in the next few months.

Amaya Reine is having a spa day to remove that awful gunk out of her hair. I always remember the dodgy hair being a reason I gave up with collecting. It was like hard work because the manufacturers can’t be asked to make decent quality hair. Hopefully when her hair is dry she can be dressed again and can chill with Frankie.

This is 35th Anniversary Butterscotch who I’ve had for about four years and left in box. Until today of course because some Blythe dolls I’m waiting for are delayed and I wanted to cheer myself up 😅 so she came out of the box and I also kinda needed her comb. My Stranger Things Apple Jack and my 40th anniversary Polaris are still in their boxes…for now 😇
So this is my doll day, mixed bag…let’s hope my delayed parcels arrive soon 🤞

Nebula vledbog May '24
This post was crossposted from cohost.
It has been a busy month on the dev branch. A lot of forward progress has been made on the Shaded Hills fantasy map, and several big rewrites have gone in and are under active adjustment and review.
Nebula SS13 is an open source project based on the Baystation 12 version of Space Station 13. SS13 is a topdown multiplayer simulation game where you play the crew of a ship, station, colony, etc. depending on your fork and map, with the Nebula and Bay forks having a focus on roleplaying and simulation interactions.
Notable changes
A big chunk of the work this month has been adding subtypes and variants for the fantasy map. You can now override things like loadout options, backpack types, survival box types, and starting cash options on a per-map basis. The fantasy map has also had a lot of aesthetic adjustments made to lighting and turf colouring to make things look really nice.
Penny has finished removing a billion unused procs and vars, cleaning up the code significantly.
Lots of clothing has been generalized. The /accessory subtype has been removed, and combining clothing items has been generalized. Shirts can be freely matched with pants, suit jackets no longer come with full business casual attached, and more.
Penny has also gotten the dev branch compiling on OpenDream, an open-source BYOND alternative with a lot of potential. The OD compiler is also included in the continuous integration testing for each merge to the dev branch, identifying problems that would be missed by the linter or the base BYOND DM compiler.
Penny has also resolved a really annoying issue with map edge lighting causing weird artifacting, making edge transitions much nicer visually.
The daycycle system has been gutted and reworked to take advantage of our much faster ambient lighting. Instead of crawling left to right across a single level, daycycles are now applied to entire z-level chunks, and can be customize with individual periods, lighting changes, and temperature. Dawn is bloody red, evening is dim.
Storage has been datumized! This is a bit of an arcane technical change, but in essence it means anything can have the ability to act as storage and hold items inside itself. Previously this was restricted to a single specific item subtype.
Supporting code for quadrupedal (or hexapodal, or n-podal) species has been merged, and immediately caused all simple animals to believe they had no legs and fall over. Working as intended. Grafadreka (reworked from the Polaris version) will be going in soon...
Bugs of note
C4 immediately melts at room temperature when spawned, making it very hard to attach it to doors or walls.
Taking the 'synthetic brain' aspect to fulfil your beep boop robot roleplay needs appeared to work fine, but five minutes after you spawned it would delete your brain and kill you.
You can use a lighter or welding torch to 'carefully heat' yourself, a mechanic intended for chemistry, but one that results in your hands becoming white-hot beacons that instantly melt anything you pick up.
Due to hairstyles defaulting to a human buzzcut when hidden by gear, neo-avians and yinglets manifested a floating buzzcut two feet above their head anytime they wore a hat.
Current priorities
r5 is very close to being ready to go. Once the robot bugs are sorted, we can finish off this staging period and start on r6.
The MVP TODO list for Shaded Hills is down to 10 or so items - getting through that before r6 staging would be ideal, since Shaded Hills being incomplete on staging/stable would suck.
I really want to completely dismantle the /under subtype and make all the various uniforms into component clothing items. It's much nicer for customizing your character and making outfits for jobs etc. than the current arrangement. As of my current PR, there's only ~200-odd uses of /under in the codebase, so we are closing on victory (act now).

HI if you have seen this show what do you think about lorna dane from the gifted about her : 1) story and character 2) crown and powers 3) interactions with other characters 4) is it a good adaptation for her character 5) did you like how lorna was played (portrayed) by the actress.
I watched the first season of The Gifted when it came out, but I fell off after that and I haven't engaged with the series at all in years, so I don't have much to say about it. Love Lorna, but this is not a Polaris blog, and I'm not interested in rewatching the show just to give a more informed answer. Also, are you not at all aware of how demanding some of your messages come across? Running down a whole list of topics like that?
At face value, it's definitely not a super faithful adaptation. Given the premise of the series, we meet a lot of these characters under very different circumstances than we did in the comics, and many of them bear only a superficial resemblance to their source material counterparts-- but I do think Lorna comes through a little better than Clarice or John, and I thought that she was one of the more compelling and well-realized characters in the season I watched. One thing that really stood out to me was that the show was a lot more grounded and dignified in depicting her bipolar disorder than most comics-- although, again, I haven't seen it in years, so take that with a grain of salt.
There's probably something to be said about her relationship with/feelings about Magneto, but I think it was only just starting to be teased at the end of the first season. In general, I found the looming presence of the dead and missing X-Men/Brotherhood characters kind of tiresome, but honestly, I'm much more interested in watching Lorna grapple with the weight of Magneto's legacy than I am either Pietro or Wanda. Still, it's not the most interesting thing about her, in comics or on TV, so I'm glad that she had plenty of other storylines outside of that. I know that there was a pregnancy storyline, and that she joined the Hellfire Club for an extended period of time, but I just don't remember any of that material.
I liked the styling-- it might seem like a weird choice for Lorna, but a lot of her comic book costumes are kind of gothy, and decking her out with spikes, chains, and other metal accessories seems like a smart choice to me. I liked the hair-- I thought it was a really pretty color and didn't look too much like a wig, at least not at the shorter length. The headpiece, on the other hand, was atrocious. The special effects that were used for her powers felt overdone and kind of pointless-- it was obvious that they wanted her to be Green Wanda. That's probably where a lot of her fashion inspiration comes from, too-- Olsen was dressed in a similarly Hot Topic wardrobe for her first couple movies, but Dumont, as Lorna, pulls it off considerably better.

happy new year instead of 2024 art summary (pending) have what I was doing instead of working on a zine piece due tomorrow (redesigning characters I haven't drawn since like 2019), detailed thoughts under cut
Achikochuu: she ends up being a support hero, so I gave her a harness for carrying people on her back. the 2 motifs are hearts ("chuu" is the sfx of a kiss) and Y-shapes (her civilian first name is Yuuka). the hearts on the front of the harness are sensors for smoke and chemicals during search-and-rescue; I toyed with the idea of also having an infrared sensor, but that can be added as an accessory. she ties her hair into a bun instead of pigtails when she's older.
Pause: previously "Ms. Pause," she decides to go for a cooler look and a more underground role. so I stripped the colorful chest plate/pants out and replaced them with tac gear, focusing on the visor (sleeker and more functional than previous iterations). the fabric color can be configured for stealth in different terrain. the main motif is the pause symbol.
Polaris: mostly the same. I added more arrow shapes on her sleeves, the backs of her boots, and on her dress. she also has a belt with things she can throw (her Quirk is "redirect," so she can make basically anything into a boomerang) and her agency's communicator badge. the scarf looks the same, but it's detachable so it can tear away if someone grabs it.
Nebula: no changes except in my art style. I love her and she's a fan favorite lol.
Ataeru: previously only her top half was designed, so I finished it up. darker lines on her gloves, and her belt contains first aid stuff and snacks. it also has supplies for tying her braid back if it gets in the way. the laces on the boots are mostly ornamental.
Kiru: also not many changes. I added a belt on her thigh to holster a taser or something. her collar tears off so it can be used as a tourniquet or a headband to keep her hair out of her face. the blue glowing parts can all be turned off in "stealth mode." I simplified the design on her boots because it felt redundant to copy the gloves. she works for Genius Agency, so all of this comes in a denim variant as well...
Beansprout: more practical, but I'm still iffy about the colors. it's a long-sleeve/glove variant of the previous design. the chest plate has a stronger plant theme, and I finally designed some boots. I cut the skirt because her hair is less likely to catch on the shorts. from a Doylian perspective, her theme color is pink instead of yellow (like a beansprout) because pink is cuter. from a Watsonian perspective, it's because she chose the name "Beansprout" for its sound more than its literal meaning.
High Beam: I tried to make her cooler. her concept evolved into more of a supporting role, so I simplified her colors. she has sleeves, a belt, a pouch, and a visor for practical reasons. the coat is asymmetrical, and the tails are split for mobility. so now she kind of looks like a Home Depot bisexual lol...
#fwizz's art#art#artists on tumblr#digital art#my art#my oc#fc#my fc#oc#bnha#bnha oc#bnha fc#<- yeah I'm circling the drain of bnha fandom again#my hope is that if I keep redesigning them I will eventually settle on something that is cool n functional n that I also like#the poses were heavily referenced from pinterest don't praise my anatomy lmao

I may have posted something like this before? But I don’t care
Polaris doesn’t dress very formally and he doesn’t like too because it feels very stifling and claustrophobic to him.
He doesn’t like his clothes to be too baggy either though because he finds it just as uncomfortable.
He focuses on functionality over all else, so his clothes are loose, comfortable, and durable. He doesn’t accessorize very much because of this too, he really only wears his necklace as an accessory.
When he does dress up a bit, he does accessorize more, and his clothes are flowing and graceful. Clothing that flows with his movements.
