Garage Door Installers in Pittsburgh, PA: Your Guide to Quality Installation Services
When it comes to home improvements, a new garage door can be one of the most impactful upgrades you can make. It not only enhances your home’s curb appeal but also boosts its functionality and security. If you're looking for a professional and reliable garage door installer in Pittsburgh, PA, you have plenty of options. However, selecting the right garage door installer can make a big difference in the quality of your installation and the long-term performance of your door.
In this article, we’ll guide you through the process of choosing the best garage door installer in Pittsburgh, PA, and explain what you can expect during the installation process. From selecting the right installer to understanding the installation procedure, we have you covered.
Why You Need Professional Garage Door Installers
Installing a new garage door is a significant investment, and ensuring that it’s done correctly is crucial for the safety, convenience, and security of your home. Here are some reasons why hiring a professional garage door installer is important:
Expertise and Experience: Garage doors are complex systems that require specialized knowledge and experience to install. From ensuring proper alignment to selecting the correct hardware, professional installers know the ins and outs of the process.
Proper Safety Measures: Garage doors are heavy and can be dangerous to handle without the right equipment and training. Professional installers have the tools and expertise to handle the job safely, preventing accidents and injuries.
Longevity and Performance: A poorly installed garage door can wear out quickly, leading to costly repairs and even potential security issues. Professional installation ensures that your door operates smoothly for years, minimizing the need for frequent repairs.
Time-Saving: Installation of a garage door can be time-consuming, especially if you lack experience. Hiring a professional installer ensures that the job is completed efficiently, saving you time and hassle.
Warranty Protection: Many garage door manufacturers offer warranties for products that are professionally installed. If you attempt a DIY installation, you may void the warranty, so professional installation is always the safest option.
Choosing the Right Garage Door Installer in Pittsburgh, PA
There are several garage door installers near me, each offering a range of services. To ensure you choose the best one for your needs, consider the following factors:
1. Experience and Reputation
Experience matters when it comes to garage door installation. A company with years of experience will have a proven track record of handling different types of doors and installations. Reputation is equally important. Look for companies with positive reviews and testimonials from previous customers. You can check online reviews, ask for references, or get recommendations from friends and neighbors who have had recent garage door installations.
2. Range of Services Offered
Garage door installers typically offer more than just installations. Many also provide repair and maintenance services. If you’re considering getting your door serviced in the future, it’s a good idea to choose a company that offers comprehensive services. Some common services to look for include:
Garage door repair (broken springs, faulty openers, etc.)
Garage door maintenance (tuning, lubricating, etc.)
Emergency repair services
Custom garage door design and installation
3. Licensing and Insurance
It’s important to choose a garage door installer who is licensed and insured. A licensed company ensures that they follow local building codes and regulations, while insurance protects you in case of accidents or property damage during the installation process. Always ask about licensing and insurance before hiring an installer.
4. Quality of Products
A good installer will use high-quality garage doors and parts from reputable manufacturers. Ask the installer about the materials and brands they work with to ensure that your new door is durable, secure, and energy-efficient. Whether you’re looking for a steel, wood, or custom door, quality products will ensure long-lasting performance.
5. Transparent Pricing
It’s essential to choose a garage door installer who offers transparent pricing with no hidden fees. The cost of a new garage door installation can vary depending on factors such as the type of door, materials, and labor. A good installer will provide a detailed estimate upfront and explain the cost breakdown so that you can make an informed decision.
6. Customer Service
When hiring a garage door installer, choose a company that values customer service. A reliable installer will communicate clearly, respond to inquiries promptly, and keep you updated throughout the installation process. Look for a company that offers a satisfaction guarantee, so you know they stand behind their work.
What to Expect During the Garage Door Installation Process
The process of installing a new garage door typically involves several steps. Here’s a general overview of what to expect during the installation process:
1. Consultation and Measurement
The first step in the installation process is usually a consultation where the installer assesses your needs and preferences. They will take accurate measurements of your garage opening to ensure a perfect fit. If you need help choosing a style or material, the installer can offer advice based on your budget and preferences.
2. Selection of the Door
Based on your consultation, the installer will help you choose the best garage door for your home. This may include selecting the material (steel, wood, aluminum, etc.), style (carriage house, contemporary, traditional), and color. They will also discuss additional features, such as insulation, windows, and custom designs.
3. Removal of the Old Door (if applicable)
If you’re replacing an existing door, the installer will remove the old door and its components. This includes detaching the old door from the opener and removing any old hardware. The installer will also dispose of the old door in an environmentally responsible manner.
4. Installation of the New Door
Once the old door is removed, the new door is carefully installed. This step involves assembling the door panels, installing the tracks, springs, and hardware, and ensuring everything is properly aligned. The installer will take extra care to ensure the door is balanced and functions smoothly.
5. Installation of the Opener (if applicable)
If you're also installing a new garage door opener, the installer will mount the opener unit, attach the door to the opener, and ensure proper operation. Modern openers come with additional features, such as smart technology, remote access, and battery backup, so the installer will ensure these features are properly set up.
6. Testing and Adjustments
After the door is installed, the installer will test its operation. They will check that the door opens and closes smoothly, and adjust the springs, opener, and sensors to ensure everything works correctly. They will also check for balance and make any necessary adjustments to prevent future issues.
7. Final Inspection and Cleanup
Once the installation is complete, the installer will conduct a final inspection to ensure everything is functioning correctly. They will also clean up the installation area, removing any debris or packaging materials. Some installers will walk you through the door’s features and provide maintenance tips.

Ethera Operation!!
You're the government’s best hacker, but that doesn’t mean you were prepared to be thrown into a fighter jet.
Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw x Awkward!Hacker! FemReader
Part I

This was never supposed to happen. Your role in this operation was simple—deliver the program, ensure it reached the right hands, and let the professionals handle the breaching.
And then, of course, reality decided to light that plan on fire.
The program—codenamed Ethera—was yours. You built it from scratch with encryption so advanced that even the most elite cyber operatives couldn’t crack it without your input. A next-generation adaptive, self-learning decryption software, an intrusion system designed to override and manipulate high-security military networks, Ethera was intended to be both a weapon and a shield, capable of infiltrating enemy systems while protecting your own from counterattacks in real-time. A ghost in the machine. A digital predator. A weapon in the form of pure code. If it fell into the wrong hands, it could disable fleets, and ground aircraft, and turn classified intelligence into an open book. Governments would kill for it. Nations could fall because of it.
Not that you ever meant to, of course. It started as a little experimental security measure program, something to protect high-level data from cyberattacks, not become the ultimate hacking tool. But innovation has a funny way of attracting the wrong kind of attention, and before you knew it, Ethera had become one, if not the most classified, high-risk program in modern times. Tier One asset or so the Secret Service called it.
It was too powerful, too dangerous—so secret that only a select few even knew of its existence, and even fewer could comprehend how it worked.
And therein lay the problem. You were the only person who could properly operate it.
Which was so unfair.
Because it wasn’t supposed to be your problem. You were just the creator, the brain behind the code, the one who spent way too many sleepless nights debugging this monstrosity. Your job was supposed to end at development. But no. Now, because of some bureaucratic nonsense and the fact that no one else could run it without accidentally bricking an entire system, you had been promoted—scratch that, forcibly conscripted—into field duty.
And your mission? To install it in an enemy satellite.
A literal, orbiting, high-security, military-grade satellite, may you add.
God. Why? Why was your country always at war with others? Why couldn’t world leaders just, you know, go to therapy like normal people? Why did everything have to escalate to international cyber warfare?
Which is how you ended up here.
At Top Gun. The last place in the world you wanted to be.
You weren’t built for this. You thrive in sipping coffee in a cosy little office and handling cyber threats from a safe, grounded location. You weren’t meant to be standing in the halls of an elite fighter pilot training program, surrounded by the best aviators in the world—people who thought breaking the sound barrier was a casual Wednesday.
It wasn’t the high-tech cyberwarfare department of the Pentagon, nor some dimly lit black ops facility where hackers in hoodies clacked away at keyboards. No. It was Top Gun. A place where pilots use G-forces like a personal amusement park ride.
You weren’t a soldier, you weren’t a spy, you got queasy in elevators, you got dizzy when you stood too fast, hell, you weren’t even good at keeping your phone screen from cracking.
... And now you were sweating.
You swallowed hard as Admiral Solomon "Warlock" Bates led you through the halls of the naval base, your heels clacking on the polished floors as you wiped your forehead. You're nervous, too damn nervous and this damned weather did not help.
"Relax, Miss," Warlock muttered in that calm, authoritative way of his. "They're just pilots."
Just pilots.
Right. And a nuclear warhead was just a firework.
And now, somehow, you were supposed to explain—loosely explain, because God help you, the full details were above even their clearance level—how Ethera, your elegant, lethal, unstoppable digital masterpiece, was about to be injected into an enemy satellite as part of a classified mission.
This was going to be a disaster.
You had barely made it through the doors of the briefing room when you felt it—every single eye in the room locking onto you.
It wasn’t just the number of them that got you, it was the intensity. These were Top Gun pilots, the best of the best, and they radiated the kind of confidence you could only dream of having. Meanwhile, you felt like a stray kitten wandering into a lion’s den.
Your hands tightened around the tablet clutched to your chest. It was your lifeline, holding every critical detail of Ethera, the program that had dragged you into this utterly ridiculous situation. If you could’ve melted into the walls, you absolutely would have. But there was no escaping this.
You just had to keep it together long enough to survive this briefing.
So, you inhaled deeply, squared your shoulders, and forced your heels forward, trying to project confidence—chin up, back straight, eyes locked onto Vice Admiral Beau "Cyclone" Simpson, who you’d been introduced to earlier that day.
And then, of course, you dropped the damn tablet.
Not a graceful drop. Not the kind of gentle slip where you could scoop it back up and act like nothing happened. No, this was a full-on, physics-defying fumble. The tablet flipped out of your arms, ricocheted off your knee, and skidded across the floor to the feet of one of the pilots.
Silence.
Pure, excruciating silence.
You didn’t even have the nerve to look up right away, too busy contemplating whether it was physically possible to disintegrate on command. But when you finally did glance up—because, you know, social convention demanded it—you were met with a sight that somehow made this entire disaster worse.
Because the person crouching down to pick up your poor, abused tablet was freaking hot.
Tall, broad-shouldered, with a head of golden curls that practically begged to be tousled by the wind, and, oh, yeah—a moustache that somehow worked way too well on him.
He turned the tablet over in his hands, inspecting it with an amused little smirk before handing it over to you. "You, uh… need this?"
Oh, great. His voice is hot too.
You grabbed it back, praying he couldn't see how your hands were shaking. “Nope. Just thought I’d test gravity real quick.”
A few chuckles rippled through the room, and his smirk deepened like he was enjoying this way too much. You, on the other hand, wanted to launch yourself into the sun.
With what little dignity you had left, you forced a quick, tight-lipped smile at him before turning on your heel and continuing forward, clutching your tablet like it was a life raft in the middle of the worst social shipwreck imaginable.
At the front of the room, Vice Admiral Beau Cyclone Simpson stood with the kind of posture that said he had zero time for nonsense, waiting for the room to settle. You barely had time to take a deep breath before his voice cut through the air.
“Alright, listen up.” His tone was crisp, commanding, and impossible to ignore. “This is Dr Y/N L/N. Everything she is about to tell you is highly classified. What you hear in this briefing does not leave this room. Understood?”
A chorus of nods. "Yes, sir."
You barely resisted the urge to physically cringe as every pilot in the room turned to stare at you—some with confusion, others with barely concealed amusement, and a few with the sharp assessing glances of people who had no clue what they were supposed to do with you.
You cleared your throat, squared your shoulders, and did your best to channel even an ounce of the confidence you usually had when you were coding at 3 AM in a secure, pilot-free lab—where the only judgment you faced was from coffee cups and the occasional system error.
As you reached the podium, you forced what you hoped was a composed smile. “Uh… hi, nice to meet you all.”
Solid. Real professional.
You glanced up just long enough to take in the mix of expressions in the room—some mildly interested, some unreadable, and one particular moustached pilot who still had the faintest trace of amusement on his face.
Nope. Not looking at him.
You exhaled slowly, centering yourself. Stay focused. Stay professional. You weren’t just here because of Ethera—you were Ethera. The only one who truly understood it. The only one who could execute this mission.
With another tap on your tablet, the slide shifted to a blacked-out, redacted briefing—only the necessary information was visible. A sleek 3D-rendered model of the enemy satellite appeared on the screen, rotating slowly. Most of its details were blurred or omitted entirely.
“This is Blackstar, a highly classified enemy satellite that has been operating in a low-Earth orbit over restricted airspace.” Your voice remained even, and steady, but the weight of what you were revealing sent a shiver down your spine. “Its existence has remained off the radar—literally and figuratively—until recently, when intelligence confirmed that it has been intercepting our encrypted communications, rerouting information, altering intelligence, and in some cases—fabricating entire communications.”
Someone exhaled sharply. Another shifted in their seat.
“So they’re feeding us bad intel?” one of them with big glasses and blonde hair asked, voice sceptical but sharp.
“That’s the theory,” you confirmed. “And given how quickly our ops have been compromised recently, it’s working.”
You tapped again, shifting to the next slide. The silent infiltration diagram appeared—an intricate web of glowing red lines showing Etherea’s integration process, slowly wrapping around the satellite’s systems like a virus embedding itself into a host.
“This is where Ethera comes in,” you said, shifting to a slide that displayed a cascading string of code, flickering across the screen. “Unlike traditional cyberweapons, Ethera doesn’t just break into a system. It integrates—restructuring security protocols as if it was always meant to be there. It’s undetectable, untraceable, and once inside, it grants us complete control of the Blackstar and won’t even register it as a breach.”
“So we’re not just hacking it," The only female pilot of the team said, arms crossed as she studied the data. “We’re hijacking it.”
“Exactly,” You nodded with a grin.
You switched to the next slide—a detailed radar map displaying the satellite’s location over international waters.
“This is the target area,” you continued after a deep breath. “It’s flying low-altitude reconnaissance patterns, which means it’s using ground relays for some of its communication. That gives us a small window to infiltrate and shut it down.”
The next slide appeared—a pair of unidentified fighter aircraft, patrolling the vicinity.
“And this is the problem,” you said grimly. “This satellite isn’t unguarded.”
A murmur rippled through the room as the pilots took in the fifth-generation stealth fighters displayed on the screen.
“We don’t know who they belong to,” you admitted. “What we do know is that they’re operating with highly classified tech—possibly experimental—and have been seen running defence patterns around the satellite’s flight path.”
Cyclone stepped forward then, arms crossed, his voice sharp and authoritative. “Which means your job is twofold. You will escort Dr L/N’s aircraft to the infiltration zone, ensuring Ethera is successfully deployed. If we are engaged, your priority remains protecting the package and ensuring a safe return.”
Oh, fantastic, you could not only feel your heartbeat in your toes, you were now officially the package.
You cleared your throat, tapping the screen again. Ethera’s interface expanded, displaying a cascade of sleek code.
“Once I’m in range,” you continued, “Ethera will lock onto the satellite’s frequency and begin infiltration. From that point, it’ll take approximately fifty-eight seconds to bypass security and assume control."
Silence settled over the room like a thick cloud, the weight of their stares pressing down on you. You could feel them analyzing, calculating, probably questioning who in their right mind thought putting you—a hacker, a tech specialist, someone whose idea of adrenaline was passing cars on the highway—into a fighter jet was a good idea.
Finally, one of the pilots—tall, broad-shouldered, blonde, and very clearly one of the cocky ones—tilted his head, arms crossed over his chest in a way that screamed too much confidence.
“So, let me get this straight.” His voice was smooth, and confident, with just the right amount of teasing. “You, Doctor—our very classified, very important tech specialist—have to be in the air, in a plane, during a mission that has a high probability of turning into a dogfight… just so you can press a button?”
Your stomach twisted at the mention of being airborne.
“Well…” You gulped, very much aware of how absolutely insane this sounded when put like that. “It’s… more than just that, but, yeah, essentially.”
A slow grin spread across his face, far too entertained by your predicament.
“Oh,” he drawled, “this is gonna be fun.”
Before you could fully process how much you already hated this, Cyclone—who had been watching the exchange with his signature unamused glare—stepped forward, cutting through the tension with his sharp, no-nonsense voice.
“This is a classified operation,” he stated, sharp and authoritative. “Not a joyride.”
The blonde’s smirk faded slightly as he straightened, and the rest of the pilots quickly fell in line.
Silence lingered for a moment longer before Vice Admiral Beau Cyclone Simpson let out a slow breath and straightened. His sharp gaze swept over the room before he nodded once.
“All right. That’s enough.” His tone was firm, the kind that left no room for argument. “We’ve got work to do. The mission will take place in a few weeks' time, once we’ve run full assessments, completed necessary preparations, and designated a lead for this operation.”
There was a slight shift in the room. Some of the pilots exchanged glances, the weight of the upcoming mission finally settling in. Others, mainly the cocky ones, looked as though they were already imagining themselves in the cockpit.
“Dismissed,” Cyclone finished.
The pilots stood, murmuring amongst themselves as they filed out of the room, the blonde one still wearing a smug grin as he passed you making you frown and turn away, your gaze then briefly met the eyes of the moustached pilot.
You hadn’t meant to look, but the moment your eyes connected, something flickered in his expression. Amusement? Curiosity? You weren’t sure, and frankly, you didn’t want to know.
So you did the only logical thing and immediately looked away and turned to gather your things. You needed to get out of here, to find some space to breathe before your brain short-circuited from stress—
“Doctor, Stay for a moment.”
You tightened your grip on your tablet and turned back to Cyclone, who was watching you with that unreadable, vaguely disapproving expression that all high-ranking officers seemed to have perfected. “Uh… yes, sir?”
Once the last pilot was out the door, Cyclone exhaled sharply and crossed his arms.
“You realize,” he said, “that you’re going to have to actually fly, correct?”
You swallowed. “I—well, technically, I’ll just be a passenger.”
His stare didn’t waver.
“Doctor,” he said, tone flat, “I’ve read your file. I know you requested to be driven here instead of taking a military transport plane. You also took a ferry across the bay instead of a helicopter. And I know that you chose to work remotely for three years to avoid getting on a plane.”
You felt heat rise to your cheeks. “That… could mean anything.”
“It means you do not like flying, am I correct?”
Your fingers tightened around the tablet as you tried to find a way—any way—out of this. “Sir, with all due respect, I don’t need to fly the plane. I just need to be in it long enough to deploy Ethera—”
Cyclone cut you off with a sharp look. “And what happens if something goes wrong, Doctor? If the aircraft takes damage? If you have to eject mid-flight? If you lose comms and have to rely on emergency protocols?”
You swallowed hard, your stomach twisting at the very thought of ejecting from a jet.
Cyclone sighed, rubbing his temple as if this entire conversation was giving him a migraine. “We cannot afford to have you panicking mid-mission. If this is going to work, you need to be prepared. That’s why, starting next week you will train with the pilots on aerial procedures and undergoing mandatory training in our flight simulation program.”
Your stomach dropped. “I—wait, what? That’s not necessary—”
“It’s absolutely necessary,” Cyclone cut in, his tone sharp. “If you can’t handle a simulated flight, you become a liability—not just to yourself, but to the pilots escorting you. And in case I need to remind you, Doctor, this mission is classified at the highest level. If you panic mid-air, it won’t just be your life at risk. It’ll be theirs. And it’ll be national security at stake.”
You inhaled sharply. No pressure. None at all.
Cyclone watched you for a moment before speaking again, his tone slightly softer but still firm. “You’re the only one who can do this, Doctor. That means you need to be ready.”
You exhaled slowly, pressing your lips together before nodding stiffly. “Understood, sir.”
Cyclone gave a small nod of approval. “Good. Dismissed.”
You turned and walked out, shoulders tense, fully aware that in three days' time, you were going to be strapped into a high-speed, fighter jet. And knowing your luck?
You were definitely going to puke.

Also, if you don't like this content, just keep scrolling.
Summary: You had been getting calls and texts from a mystery number for a few months now, you even went to the lengths of installing a security alarm because you didn't feel safe anymore. If only you knew what you thought was danger was closer than you thought...
Aprox. time of reading: 36 minutes
After you stepped in your place, you started to analyze everything that met your eyes, trying to remember if it was in that exact place before you left. Small details like: was the empty vase settled perfectly in the middle of the top shelf over your TV, or was it a bit to the right? Did you set your shoes straight at the left of the door, or you left in such a hurry that you didn't bother? Maybe you were just being a little too paranoid.
Closing the door behind you, you made sure to lock it, turning the key twice, hearing the two clicks, before you took them out and also closed all the extra locks you had added for your own security. Finishing that routine with your hand pulling the knob, just to make sure the door was indeed closed.
It wasn't like something happened, but ever since you started receiving anonymous texts, you prioritized your safety more than anything else. At first, they were dumb messages you could ignore, things that any bored person would've sent to mess with the first person they came across to on social media -especially when you had all your professional sites linked to your Instagram. But those texts weren't prank calls or horny texts, that you could easily ignore and move on. No. There was something dark in them, something so personal and intimate, despite not displaying anything, that gave you goosebumps every time you dared to read them. And it only got worse when pictures were sometimes linked to them. Photos of you taken from afar, keeping a safe distance so you wouldn't be able to notice them as you did your day to day chores -something as simple as going grocery shopping, going to work or even meeting up with your family.
That person knew everything about you. Where you lived, what were your favorite places, when he'd be able to find you there... So easy to hunt.
It wasn't surprising you decided to reach out to the police, but also to one of the classmates you had in college, and that you saw every once in a long while whenever a small crew from your past colleagues decided to do a gathering to meet up and catch up with one another's lives.
You saw it clearly when one of your friends mentioned his father owned a security company and also added how San was quite good with technology, after you mentioned how there had been many robberies in your area so no one would be scandalized for what was happening to you.
Although San didn't ask a single question about it. He just installed the camera -that glared at the door, but still caught half of your couch- and the sensors in your living room, finishing his work by installing an app on your laptop and your phone, so you would have control of the security system from those devices. You weren't really surprised by his silence, because back in uni he didn't speak much either -that was why it didn't make much sense to you as to how he ended up in that group of friends either. Not like it was that important.
He was so intriguing, yet so expendable at the same time. The type of man that only got your interest while he was in front of you, because as soon as he stepped away, you completely forgot of his existence. It definitely wasn't because of his looks, at all. He was attractive. Sharp features that looked so intimidating, but also appealing at the same time. His foxy brown eyes radiated something you weren't able to tell, maybe because he never kept his eyes on you properly whenever he was in your presence. Under his clothes, you could tell he probably had a thin body -maybe more toned than what you were imagining, but that was the most your imagination could reach when it came to him. He was also tall, but not excessively, just enough to have you slightly curving your neck to look up to him when he was a bit too close.
San would be your ideal man if he only spoke more than two words in a row.
After having dinner, and making sure you've picked up everything you left around your house when you left in a hurry that morning, you decided to head to your room.
You just turned on your laptop to have some background sound while you put your clothes back in the closet, playing the first video that appeared on your recommended list on Youtube.
The sound of the notification got your heart beating fast, assuming it was one creepy picture again, but your body relaxed when you saw Chris' name on your screen, along with a suggestive pic. You smirked, placing your forearm over your chest, hiding just enough to be as suggestive as him before you snapped a picture. And while you giggled and found some joy in it, there was someone else who didn't like a single bit of what he was seeing.
San saw your half naked figure in one of the monitors, in the darkness of his room, clicking his tongue and twisting his jaw when he saw the kind of pic and text you exchanged with that guy on the other monitor. With you, it was impossible for him to know what mood he'd be in for the night. He had seen you in several different states and situations, and he swore he got more attached to you the more he observed. Except this. This was one of the things that made him want to block your phone out of nowhere, staring at your confusion and rejoicing after interrupting that short sexting time.
But he didn't. He controlled himself and just allowed you to go on, witnessing every dirty word and naughty promise you were dedicating to someone that wasn't him -but that one day it would, and he'd made sure of it.
You slipped the last piece of clothing down your legs before you kneeled in the middle of the bed, still with your phone in your hands -and judging by the intensity of the conversation, he knew what was coming next. Dragging one of the pillows where you were, straddling it, you got everything ready.
San looked at you intensely when you started grinding your hips against the fabric of your pillow, studying every move, admiring the shadows the lights from the streets created on your body, and how he was able to see how perfectly stiff your nipples were despite the distance. You placed it all facing your computer, almost as if you wanted to pull that show for him.
Chris: Are you fucking yourself with your fingers thinking it's my cock?
You: Yeah
San silently scoffed at your reply, seeing how desperately you moved your hips against the pillow.
"Liar, liar, liar" he sang, shaking his head slowly.
It didn't matter though, because you lied to another guy. He knew you wouldn't ever be able to lie to him. You would never do something like that.
Your head fell back, moving faster before you dropped your phone over the mattress. And San cheered at seeing that monitor going black in the middle of the conversation. Seeing you like that was a spectacle he loved seeing, but all those texts with someone else made it less attractive. He loved seeing you in that state, so lost in your own pleasure that you weren't aware how hard your fingers were gripping on the fabric of the covers and how your lips were perfectly parted. He had lost count of the many times he had jerked himself off to that same image, studying your orgasms throughout those weeks to be able to tell when you were close so he would finish at the same time. You always dropped a high pitched scream leave, before your lips puckered and your eyes shut tight as you orgasmed, slowly stopping your moves. San definitely enjoyed it more when you just randomly touched yourself because you watched some good porn that made it difficult to control yourself. Wet pussy in full display in front of the monitor as you slid two fingers in, or just rubbed your clit, while lazily looking down at the scenes on the screen. It felt different to what you were doing that day. He wasn't even able to enjoy it properly...
San sat on his chair, full attention on the monitors as soon as he got a notification of your alarm being disconnected. You entered abruptly in your place, hands grasping on the new guy's clothes as if you were looking to rip them off. Soon you two were completely naked, and you were straddling his lap on your couch, letting your bodies clap against one another with every move of your hips.
He just looked at you two, expressionless while he fought his need to stop what he was seeing. His phone was so close to his hand, he only had to send one of the several pics he had saved of you to know you'd stop it all.
The hard slap on your ass, followed by a groan from you, was the last straw for him. He twisted his lips, finally reaching for his phone.
It seemed like he wasn't doing his job properly if you were going to allow just anyone to step in your place. He couldn't let you be so reckless and get away with it, you just needed to be reminded of your daily risks again.
You were immersed on how you were feeling, moving your hips automatically to reach that high that was so close from you. Still humping on Chris' dick, you reached to your phone, stretching your arm behind you while he held you tight so you wouldn't lose balance. Although he didn't need to hold you for much longer, because your whole body froze over him when you looked at the screen.
Unknown: So you need more than just pics now?
That text was followed by one of the pics you sent Chris the other day, and you weren't sure how else you were supposed to react, but you rushed to stand up and cover yourself with your oversized flannel, while the brunet man just looked at you confused.
"I need you to leave" you crossed your arms over your chest.
"Leave? Now?" he smirked, thinking you were joking "I just got here".
"I don't give a fuck" you threw his clothes at him. "You think this is a game? Fine, game over. I'm done".
"What are you talking about?".
"What am I talking about? You've been sharing the pics I've sent you around" you commented, showing him the new text. "Tell your friends that it's not funny at all. You're a bunch of dickheads".
You knew Chris, you knew his circle as well, and you saw them completely capable of pulling an anonymous joke on you just for their laughs. But the fact that they did it in a time where you were so sensitive to everything got you even angrier than you'd have been before.
"You're crazy, you know that?" Chris replied, putting his clothes on. "You would've been a good fuck, but it's definitely not worth it" he stared at you. "'I'm not ready' 'I can't meet today'" he mimicked your voice. "Always leaving me with blue balls only to end up kicking me out over that bullshit. Fuck off, Y/n".
San smiled throughout the whole argument, completely ignoring the fact that you didn't even think of him when you saw the picture back in your phone. He could omit that, knowing that Chris was going to leave your apartment in the next three minutes. But his smile slowly dropped when he started speaking, mocking you and dragging you for just making him wait until you were ready. Who did he think he was to speak at you that way?
Somebody needed to be humbled.
He made sure to come back to you later that night, hands still tinted in a soft red by the blood he wasn't able to take away on the first cleanse, while his fingers traced your cheek as if it was the most delicate thing he had ever touched. Suddenly mesmerized by how peaceful you were in your sleep.
Your hair was spread over the white pillow, and your right arm stretched to the empty space next to you, making sure your body would take most part of it. And seeing you like that, he assured again he would never allow anyone else to treat you the way Chris did a few hours before. He broke his hands for ever thinking he was enough to touch you, and did the same with his jaw for even thinking the words he aimed at you.
You would always be safe.
It had been a few days since you last heard of Chris. And just like him, the anonymous text and weird calls also disappeared. You were quite used to relating everything to coincidences, but that one just seemed a bit too suspicious to ignore it.
It didn't matter though. You were finally able to breathe.
Moving around your apartment, you stopped when you were finally done cleaning the house. The fresh scent made you excitedly jump in your place, happy to be able to enjoy that delicate smell before it disappeared with your nose getting used to it.
San unconsciously smiled when he witnessed the way you moved in the same place, letting the elastic of your shorts raise accidentally from your hips to your waist with every small jump.
He thought he was going to be enjoying another show from you, taking your clothes off in the middle of the living room while you made your way to the bathroom. But all his hopes were interrupted by the sound of your phone.
Grace.
Reading that name instantly made him roll his eyes. She was a pain in the ass whenever they hung out, always trying to keep you away from him, moving around you like a satellite to make sure he wouldn't get close enough to start a conversation.
And if only she was interesting enough to keep a conversation through the phone... But no, she was as obnoxious and priggish, even when he wasn't seeing her face. The tone of her voice allowed him to picture perfectly the shape of her face moving with her words, and that was the only time he allowed himself to disconnect from you. At least until his name casually dropped in the conversation.
"San? What about him?" you asked, supporting yourself on the back of the couch.
You didn't know why she was suddenly sneaking his name in the conversation, when you two were talking about how Chris suddenly disappeared after being a complete asshole to you.
"I think he has a crush on you" she giggled.
Frowning, unable to tell whether she was right or not, you tried to know why she thought that "You think so?".
You were aware of some of the glances he aimed at you while you weren't looking, whenever you two hung out with the group. But you never thought too deep about it.
"No" Grace cackled, making San move uncomfortably on his seat. "He's so weird it's hard to tell what goes through his head. I bet he has never gotten his dick wet".
"You say that because he has never tried to fuck you like Sam and Will" you rolled your eyes. "I just think we might not be his type, and that's okay. He's fine though, whoever ends up with him will land in heaven".
"Really?"
San's jaw clenched with every new comment Grace made. It was as if she couldn't deal with the fact that you were praising him.
"Really" you nodded.
There was a silence between you that made him uncomfortable, as if the next thing that would be said was meant to change his plans completely.
And he wasn't wrong.
"I've been good, maybe I need a bit of heaven"
"My god... what do you mean?"
"I think I like him".
"You make no sense" you scoffed, although he wasn't able to tell if it was due to tiredness or you were suddenly upset about something. "You like him but you were throwing dirt on him?"
"You said he was fine. Of course I needed to throw dirt on him".
"Because I have eyes" you placed your hand on your hip. "You were the one who asked".
"Also, you should've heard yourself when I said he has a crush on you. Do you still have a crush on him?".
San suddenly looked confused at the monitor, trying to read your exhausted expression before you turned, back facing the camera.
"That was years ago" you assured her. "You know what would've happened at the Christmas party. Like I said, we're not his type. So it was for the better that he didn't show up".
Were you talking about the Christmas party a few people in your class organized to get to know each other? If he had known you were feeling that way about him, he'd have attended no matter what.
His brain was working the fastest it had ever worked, trying to wrap himself around the idea that you would be his in that exact moment if he had gone to the party. And it only got worse when he remembered the reason he didn't go: Grace. She told him you weren't feeling comfortable around him, and that was also why he tried to get closer to your group of friends the next months -although he couldn't stand a single one of them. He tried to be more approachable for you, only to be part of a shitty group of friends and have you more distant and disinterested in him than before.
If he ever thought he hated the several guys you introduced to them in those three years, he was proved what real hate was in that moment. Rage took control of his body, finding himself picking up the keyboard just to crash it against the desk, not caring in the slightest for the several keys flying around with every hit he made.
If she wanted to mess with him, it was fine. He'd mess with her, too.
You looked for Grace all night. Going from one group of people to another, trying to get to know where the hell she was. It wasn't the first time she left you hanging and made you handle all by yourself everything that was related to your birthday party.
You never expected much from her in general, but missing your birthday party? That was a new low for her, especially when she encouraged you to drop a party that you didn't even want in the first place.
Hopeful that the message you received was from her, when you felt your phone buzzing in your hand, you unlocked the screen. Only to feel your heart squeeze in your chest when you realized it wasn't Grace, and it wasn't a message supposed to make you happy either.
Unknown: I'm getting closer to you. No one will tear us apart
The promise in those words got your hairs raising, your whole body was only able to pay attention to that text while you ignored everything that was going on around you. Your friends slowly disappeared, the music started to vanish until it turned to sounds with no rhythm.
A hand on your shoulder brought you back to reality, making your body squirm slightly as you turned ready to fight. Both of his eyebrows raised with concern, trying to calm you down at the same time he took a step back.
"I didn't mean to scare you" he assured you, while one of his gentle hands stroke your upper arm.
"Don't worry" you shook your head. "I don't really know why I reacted that way" you shyly mentioned, scratching your temple.
"I mean, I know I'm not the hottest, but to the point of scaring you..." he teased you, suddenly grinning. Calm at seeing you sigh and light a smile, he spoke again "Happy birthday, Y/n".
Something in his attitude shifted. You weren't complaining at all, but it wasn't the way San usually acted around you. He tended to be more serious, and distant. And today he was close and cheerful, you'd dare to say he even seemed flirty.
"Did you come alone?"
"Yeah" he nodded, both hands peeking inside the pockets of his dark jeans. "Who would I come with?".
"I don't know. A girlfriend?" you joked. And you regretted your own words, because why the thought of him having someone else was making your stomach twist that way "Or maybe a colleague. I didn't say you couldn't bring any people".
"I think it'll be enough with you" he playfully mentioned.
You looked down while smiling, trying to hide how hard your cheeks were burning for his words.
"Want to get some fresh air?" he invited you, bending over you a bit so he'd be able to whisper in your cheek "I got you a present".
San was the first one in that party that thought about getting you something for your day. At that point, he could've bought you a pair of socks, and you'd be treasuring that detail for the rest of your life.
You both made your way out of the club, only hearing the drowned music behind you whenever the big door closed behind the people that either came in or out. He handed you the shiny box that he had left at the wardrobe, waiting for your reaction while you broke the wrapping paper. "You really didn't have to".
Instead of answering, San just shook his head, waiting for your face when you finally opened the white box and saw what was inside of it.
It was a vintage well-crafted music box. The same one you had been looking for for years. You touched every small pearl, every golden detail, amused with the idea of finally having it in your hands. He could've bought the basic version, that only had a sun at the top, but instead he made his way to the upgraded one -the same one you gave up on because of how expensive it was.
Biting your lip, you moved the key in circles, until you reached the top and just let it turn by itself, hearing the automated and slow sound that came from it.
"How did you know?"
"I heard you mentioning it one of the times we hung out with the group" he answered ", and also when I installed the security system".
Clearly, he lied. He couldn't tell you he saw what you were looking at on your phone on one monitor, while he spied on you with the other.
"I wasn't sure if you'd like this one..." he lied, trying to make it less weird.
"You kidding? It's the one I've been saving up money for" you closed the box. "Thank you so much".
You two weren't close. You were a touchy person, in general, but never with San. But that day your arms wrapped around his neck instinctively, while you stood in your tiptoes, trying to feel him as close as possible. Unlike what you expected, San wrapped his arms around your waist, bringing you closer, hiding his face in the crook of your neck. It was a simple touch, but your whole body reacted when you felt his lips on your shoulder.
You didn't let him move away from you, your lips met his before he was able to stand properly. A soft and chaste kiss, a simple rub of your mouth that got San floating, just to fall back to the ground when you moved back.
"I'm sorry" you quickly apologized, moving away. "I didn't know... It was a mistake".
"Really?" he tilted his head, while his eyes looked harshly at you.
"I can't do this"
"Why?"
"I can't do this to Grace" you whispered, remembering how she confessed her feelings to him not even a few days ago.
"And who gives a fuck about her?"
Those were his last words before he pulled you back into a kiss, hands gripping your neck to make sure you wouldn't move away again. Guilt only stayed with you for a few seconds, the time it took him to suck on your lower lip with such delicacy and slowness that made your knees go weak.
His lips were demanding, yet soft and careful, on yours. You were so receptive to what he was giving you, that he thought he was dreaming. Finally having his hands on you, while his tongue dug in your mouth, trying to discover every corner in it. Your back arched instantly when he set your neck free, hands moving down your torso, until he was cupping your ribs, thumbs ghosting the edge of your breasts.
"You taste so fucking good" he groaned against your lips. "So so fucking good, Y/n".
He meant every single word, finally living what he had been fantasizing about for years. And you topped his expectations, wrapping your arms around his shoulders and playing with his hair while he moved down to your jaw and finally sank his mouth on your neck.
"San" you sighed, head automatically moving to the side so he'd have better access to that spot. "We can't..." you found yourself battling with your own voice to get the words out properly "Not here".
At that point, he didn't care where to do it, or how many people were watching. He just wanted to be buried deep in you, and mark you as his like he had been dreaming of for so long.
"Let's go to your place"
San sucked on your neck slower when he heard your idea. His house was the last place he wanted you to be at that moment, not when there were so many things he needed to keep from you.
"I think it'd be better to go to your house instead" he tried to make you change your mind.
"It's a mess. I doubt we'll be able to find the bed there"
He knew, he saw the way you dropped your clothes all over the place every time you change clothes because the outfits weren't convincing enough, and he saw how you gave one last regretful look before you closed the door behind you.
"I can fuck you somewhere else" he joked.
"Let's just go to your place" you grabbed his wrist. "I've never been there, and I'm curious".
If there was a way to really know someone, it was getting inside their home and being able to see every small detail that could give away their personality and habits. You had been in most of your friends' houses, but despite knowing San for three years, you had never been in his.
When you bit his lip and pulled it in between your teeth while looking him in the eye, he wondered how he was supposed to resist what you wanted. There was no way he would ever be able to say no to you.
He only had to keep you away from one room. That was it.
You were aware of how tense he suddenly was on your way there, his hands were rigid on his lap while he kept his eyes away from you. It was as if he was back at his usual self, completely forgetting the man he pretended to be back in the party.
"If you're really uncomfortable about it, we can go to your place another day. I didn't mean to pressure you".
San landed his eyes on you. You were definitely the sweetest person he had ever met, a living ray of sunshine wherever you went. Maybe that was what drew him to you the first time he saw you with that big smile in class.
"I don't usually take girls home"
You knew he wasn't sharing his apartment with more people, he lived completely by himself. So your heart softened at the idea that, maybe, he wasn't really the type to do one night stands.
"I promise I'll make it worth it" you whispered against his lips.
"You already are" he assured you.
He kissed you again, pinching your chin to keep your face up in his direction, while his other hand moved over your thigh, hiding in the back of your knee. You thought you'd be having a hot make out session in the back of the back, but he broke the kiss when you were about to slide your tongue in your mouth.
"I can't get enough of you, angel"
One of the reasons that kept him from moving closer to you was how afraid he was of going so deep he wouldn't be able to escape. If he ever got the taste of you, he wouldn't ever want to give up on you. But he was already trapped. The first year, he tried to focus on other girls, but you were the only one that kept showing up in his head every time he tried to. And by the second year, he was too far gone. He needed to know absolutely everything about you, it wasn't enough with the superficial talk you had whenever you met up by chance. And you served yourself in a silver plate when you gave him access to your house and all your devices. It was as if you wanted him to know everything about you.
San was sweet and gentle with you the second you two stepped in his apartment. He went slow and easy on you, treating you like you were the most delicate thing he had ever crossed ways with.
His tongue traced every curve of your body, as if he wanted to keep them with him forever. He hugged you tight, and hid his face in the curve of your neck every time he pounded into you, feeling in heaven with every squeeze of your walls. He then knew you were definitely made for him. You woke up in the middle of the night, turning to San to find him peacefully sleeping while his hand held your neck with care. You were convinced you were over him, but your old self was jumping excited in your head, still not able to process you finally got to sleep with the man you fantasized about.
Maybe you should've stayed in bed and got back to sleep, but you suddenly felt uneasy and uncomfortable, forced to get up. You moved slowly, trying not to wake San up before you made your way outside to look for the bathroom.
Unlike in your place, there wasn't a bathroom inside his bedroom, so you had to look into the first door you saw as soon as you walked outside in the dark. You wanted to step back and move to the only door left, but something about that room dragged you in.
The small light from the computer tower lit the room vaguely, only allowing you to see some squared shapes.
Maybe you should've just ignored it, and closed the door behind you while you looked for the bathroom, but the fact that you barely knew anything about San -and the thought of that possibly allowing you to know more- encouraged you to step in.
You were expecting some nerdy things. Maybe that was the "dude room" where he kept his funkos, his anime dolls and the eight seasons of Game of Thrones on DVD. But you felt your blood stop running through your veins when you switched the lights on. In front of you, there was a wall filled with pics of you, you could even recognize some of those pictures because he had sent them to you to scare you. Some of those pics were the cause you installed the security alarm in your house.
Walking towards the computer, you were scared of what you'd find there. You lost balance for a hot second, feeling your body falling backwards when you saw your empty living room in one of the screens, while the other two were completely black.
"I didn't know you were this nosy, angel"
His deep voice filled the silence in the room, falling heavy on your back before you found the courage to turn around and face him. That soft and gentle gaze was gone, and was replaced by an icy look you had never seen before on anyone.
"What's all this?"
"Do you really need me to explain it to you?" his right eyebrow raised, looking down at you ironically. "I think it's quite obvious".
"All this time... It was you?" you could've run, but your back was glued to the desk.
"All this time" he nodded, taking one final step in your direction. "But you're finally where you belong".
He tried to reach your cheek with the reverse of his fingers, but you moved away, avoiding his touch while your eyes were still on his. San's smile widened after your reaction.
"That's how you knew about the music box..." you frowned, realizing how deep in your intimacy and privacy he'd gone to watch you.
"I know everything about you" he continued. "I even know about the people that hurt you when you were too blind to see it.
And, suddenly, a few names started crossing your mind. But San spoke before you could take a guess.
"Remember that guy... " he supported his weight on the edge of the desk, caging you "Johnny, was it? I don't know when he thought that crossing any boundaries with you would give him a happy ending" San scoffed.
He was probably one of the longest flings, and the one that got you in that weird situation where you thought you were finally over San. Although he ended up making you be done with men in general during one of your dates, when he didn't understand that you rathered to go home to suck his dick, rather than doing it behind one of the bushes in the middle of the night. The next day, he showed up with his face full of bruises and wounds, with his right hand bandaged, and with his apologies written down in paper because he wasn't able to speak properly.
Seeing your realizing gaze, San continued "Chris had the same fate" he clicked his tongue. "He didn't understand that he needed to treat you right if he wanted to be around you, so I had to break his other hand to get him to understand". He bent closer to you, letting his warm breath coat your chin "And don't even get me started on Grace. She played you, and fooled you into thinking I didn't like you because she knew I would never like her back".
"What did you do to her?"
"There's only one way to get liars to stop telling lies" that dark smile was back at it again. "Remember that scene in the House of Wax?".
Of course you remembered. Your whole body squirmed at the sensation of feeling your lips glued together, and only being able to separate them in the most hurtful way possible, while you watched the movie at night by yourself a few weeks ago.
"She really thought she could get in between you and me, and that I'd let it go so easily" he shook his head. "She now knows I'd do anything to keep you".
You should've been scared for yourself, you should've been thinking of the several ways to get out of there safely and make it to the nearest police station, but you stood there, staring into his eyes, finding some type of amusement in his words. You had heard several boys telling you exactly what he said, although most of them were either desperate to get inside your pants or were on a countdown for their climax. But San seemed so honest about it, so captivating that everything else suddenly disappeared.
"Anything?"
San was surprised by your question, confused by the tone you were using, and intrigued by the way your eyes landed on his. You raised your chin, leaving the scared deer one behind, to face him and mirror a tiny bit of his confident presence.
"Whatever you want, angel"
You looked over your shoulder, body feeling a bit hotter when you thought of the things he might've seen while looking at that same screen.
"I think it's time to stop looking at that screen, isn't it?" you turned to him.
"You aren't scared?"
His brows furrowed slightly while asking that question, doubting whether you were serious or just pulling an act to run away as soon as he let his guard down. And you were at first. But the more he spoke, the more he explained, the faster you realized he was never thinking of landing a hand on you. He could've if he had wanted to. He had several occasions, and many ways to do so. But he always kept a safe distance, always looking at you from afar.
"Should I?" you challenged him.
"Never".
You smiled, getting closer to him while standing in your tiptoes, just to be able to rub your lips on his earlobe.
"I know you're twisted" you whispered in his ear. "But, baby, you have no idea how twisted I can be, too. Maybe you didn't watch me for long enough"
Unlike all the kisses you shared tonight, there was some fury in this new kiss. He cupped your cheeks harshly, keeping you still in place while his lips moved speedily and expected yours to keep his pace. His tongue twirled on yours when he invaded your mouth with no previous warning, and your toes almost curled when the tip traced your palate smoothly.
"I've controlled myself too much tonight" he informed you with a raspy voice.
"It was too mild for someone who's been waiting for this for three years" you challenged him.
"Angel, you're going to regret ever saying that" he assured you, hands gripping tight on your thighs. "There will be nothing left of you when I'm done" he lifted your body, placing you on top of his deck. "You think you can challenge me to break this tiny pussy of yours and get away with it easily? Things don't work like that".
He hummed, looking down at your body. His fingers raised the fabric of his t-shirt, softly caressing your naked skin with his tips as he moved it up. He hummed when he had you completely naked in front of him, just that it was a billion times better than the first time. Because you were looking at the real him, and you were even more turned on than you were earlier that night.
His palm covered your pussy, rubbing against your clit, before his mouth was pulling from your hard nipple. There was something more dangerous than him and everything he did, and it was the way he was looking up at you while his tongue lewdly moved around your hand button. His teeth pulled from it, earning a sudden whine as he pulled harder than you expected, changing to your other nipple to do the right same thing.
San moved back, sinking two fingers in you suddenly, having you holding onto the edge of his desk so your body wouldn't fall back over the monitors. A few seconds later, the squeaking sounds, along with his groans and your gasps filled the room.
"You're mine forever, Y/n. Right?" he grabbed your jaw harshly, forcing you to look at him through your needy pleasure. "I won't ever let you go, and you won't ever leave my side".
Your head instantly nodded with no control when he curved his fingers in you, stroking that right spot until you lost any control of your body, doing and saying everything he wanted and needed.
"Aren't you my good and obedient girl?" he added his thumb on your clit, giving your brain a hard time trying to process everything that was going on.
Your humming and nods weren't enough anymore. He gave you a soft slap on your cheek, trying to get you to react and be vocal so he'd hear what he wanted to at that moment. "I am" you moaned, arching your hips for him.
"That's right, making me so proud" he bit your chin, before you suddenly felt empty again.
San didn't wait for you to be ready, or to see coming the way he was going to shove his fingers down your throat to suck them clean, to fill you again with his dick when you least expected, moaning on his fingers and sending vibrations through his body to his shaft.
You held onto his wrist with one of your hands, thinking that'd make it easier to deal with the impact of his hips against yours, but it didn't. His cock rubbed against every spot in you, and you believed you were in heaven every time his pubes collided against your exposed clit at the same time he reached the deepest spot.
"Did the others fuck you this good?" he wanted to know, taking his fingers out of your mouth to hold your jaw again. "Tell me".
"No" you moaned, not processing the few seconds you felt empty before he was pounding into you again.
"The hoe days are over for you. You're only getting my cock from now on. You understand that?" he harshly said.
Your head moved fast, nodding desperately to his words. He grinned with pride, content with seeing you in such a state because of him.
You whined when he stopped, pulling out and making you feel empty again. Although he didn't give you time to protest, because he trapped your lips in his smoothly, making sure no sound would come from you. Your body moved with his hands, feeling it being dragged to the edge until your feet were touching the cold ground again.
"Turn around" San demanded you, hard eyes on you "I want you to see something".
You were facing the monitors again, feeling his warm body covering your back while he looked for something in the computer. His arms were caging you again, while his lips rubbed on your shoulder, inviting you to look at the front and enjoy the view he had been having ever since he installed the security alarm.
You should've been disgusted and horrified by the way he had control over every tiny bit of your life, managing to watch you even in places where he should've had access at first. But your heart pumped hard against your rib cage, and you could feel your own juices leaking, when you saw yourself on camera. You were turned on by the idea of San watching you while you enjoyed yourself, humping against the pillow until you turned into a moaning mess.
"You should be ashamed of making me feel jealous of a fuckass pillow" he whispered in your ear. "I would've showed up in five and fuck your brains out just how you so badly wanted".
He separated your legs, exposing your entrance before he was back in you completely, having you holding onto the surface for support. His skin clapped loudly against yours with each thrust, making the audio from the video disappear completely, overlapped with his groans and your hushed moans.
Your legs felt lighter when he changed the angle, adjusting himself to reach a spot that would make it difficult for you to stand for any longer.
"Keep watching yourself" he redirected your eyes to the screen ", pathetically grinding against a pillow because you couldn't get what you're having now".
The hard slap on your asscheek sent a shivering all over your body, but only made your hips move harder against his. Your lower belly hit harshly against the edge of the table, getting the monitor to shake, but you couldn't care less about the slight pain you were starting to feel when his hand on your throat, his breath on your neck, and his cock balls deep in you were the only things in your mind in that moment.
"Angel, you want to be sent back to heaven?" he bit on your shoulder, hand grasping on your flesh as he calmed down his thrusts.
You didn't care where he sent you to, as long as you were able to keep that reclaimed and wanted feeling. Nothing else was important, nothing else mattered, as long as you had San willing to do anything for you, ignoring the lengths he'd go just to get it.
"Am I fucking you so dumb you aren't able to answer?" he forced your eyes on his, wailing silently when your neck hurted by the sudden move. "Do you want me to send you back to heaven?".
Your fast breathing and your own gasps were making it almost impossible for you to answer back his question. "I don't care" you moaned "I just want to be with you".
San smiled, pleased with the unexpected answer, before he rewarded you with a kiss. One of his hands moved up your chest, trapping your nipple with two of his fingers while his other hand moved down your body, slick fingers finding your clit and rubbing it in circles in sync with the slow movements of his hips.
"Once I fill you up, it's done, angel. There will be no turning back" he grunted on your lips. "Your pussy will be only mine to fill".
"Yes, please".
He bit on your lower lip, buckling his hips and starting a mind-blowing pace that got you cutting your own breathing with each thrust, always being interrupted with a new moan emerging from the deepest part of your body. You were caged, trapped, completely filled with his dick, held by his two hands -and also grinding against one of them-, while his teeth were digging on your skin as if you were actually planning to leave in the middle of that.
You felt so unstable that not even the table was a good support for you, reaching for both of his wrists to hold onto while your vision went blurry with every new rub. Your body was malfunctioning, feeling completely hot, finding the only focus on San until something similar to a bomb blew in your head. Your constant high-pitched moans turned into a long loud one that harmonized perfectly with his guttural groan when he spilled his seed inside of you, hugging you as if you were going to disappear after that.
His head fell heavily on your shoulder, as you two tried to regain some oxygen back to your lungs. Soft kisses were spread all over the curve of your shoulder, moving down to your back, tracing your spine with care until you felt his lips at the curve of one of your ass cheeks. He made sure to curve your hips enough, able to spot his cum leaking through your slit.
Your body reacted by itself at the first contact of his tongue, moving away from it, only to be pulled back against his mouth by his hands. The tip sometimes teased your swollen clit, although his full attention was in your entrance, covering it as much as he could. It was only a few seconds after that he was back on his feet, making you turn around and linking your lips together. Your bitter flavor was mixed with his salty one on your tongue, and he just waited for you to swallow it to finally smile against your lips.
"Good girl".
Your body flew in the air as he lifted you up, holding you in his arms to make your way out of his secret room and take you back to his bedroom. It was impressive how San was looking after you with such care after everything that happened back then.
His heat was suddenly on each part of your body as he hugged you tight in bed. Again, making sure you would never leave.
Not like you were planning to, anyway.
"Thank you" he whispered, and although you were trying to guess what his next words would be, you were speechless for what he said. "Thank you for being better than my expectations. You mold to me so perfectly, and make things so easy".
Was there any difference between you two, though? You wished and hoped to do to people what he did to those who hurt you. You remembered all the things that crossed your mind whenever a girl dared to look in his direction back in college, or how you wanted Grace to swallow her phone for ever thinking of him as someone she could sleep with. The only difference between you two is that he never kept it as thoughts only, and turned each one of his feelings into actions.
"You could've kept this all a secret if we had gone to my house instead".
"I don't want to keep any secrets from you" he assured you "Nothing. And I don't want you to keep any secrets from me either. It's us against the world, angel, and I will never allow anyone or anything to tear us apart" sliding his hand through your hair, curving on your neck, his eyes looked intensely at you.
"Understood?"

DISSENT MAGAZINE
On March 27, President Donald Trump summarily overturned decades of federal labor relations policy and stripped more than 700,000 government workers of their union rights with a stroke of his sharpie. His executive order Exclusions from Federal Labor-Management Relations Programs, which effectively voided union contracts at dozens of departments and agencies, constitutes by far the largest and most aggressive single act of union-busting in U.S. history.
The stated rationale for Trump’s order—that the targeted workers are in agencies that affect national security and they therefore are ineligible for union representation—is flimsily transparent. Even the White House can’t sustain the lie. The administration’s own fact sheet points to the president’s real motivation. His order targets agencies whose unions “have declared war on President Trump’s agenda.” How have these unions “declared war”? Apparently, simply by attempting to enforce labor contracts and represent members in grievance proceedings. As the fact sheet notes, Veterans Affairs (VA) workers are losing their rights because their unions had the temerity to file “70 national and local grievances over President Trump’s policies since the inauguration.”
It is obvious that Trump is exacting revenge on unions that are challenging the draconian cuts and closures inflicted by Elon Musk’s renegade Department of Government Efficiency. Tellingly, unions believed to be sympathetic to the Trump agenda, such as those that represent federal law enforcement workers (whose work is more closely related to national security than that of, say, VA nurses or employees of the General Services Administration), have been exempted from his sweeping action.
The Radicalism of Trump’s Union-Busting
With his radical and blatantly political order, Trump, like a deranged Samson, is straining to pull down the solid pillars that have undergirded a remarkably stable system of federal labor relations for decades. If he succeeds, his action threatens many millions more than the federal employees directly affected by his executive order. As the nation’s largest employer, what the government does to labor inevitably ripples through the entire economy.
The only event in U.S. history comparable to Trump’s action is Ronald Reagan’s firing of some 11,500 striking air traffic controllers in 1981. Reagan’s crushing of the controllers’ union, PATCO, brought to a screeching halt the rapid expansion of public-sector unionization in the 1970s and catalyzed a wave of strikebreaking by private employers that set back the entire labor movement. In some ways, labor still struggles with the fallout of that fateful conflict. If Trump’s current action stands, its destructive force promises to be many orders of magnitude larger than the PATCO affair.
To grasp the enormous implications of Trump’s order, consider the elements of the time-tested structure that he is busy pulling down. The first pillar of the system was put in place in 1883 with the Pendleton Act, which created the federal civil service to professionalize those who worked in government and to end the spoils system that allowed the party in power to oust the personnel of federal agencies and install its supporters no matter their qualifications. Under the U.S. Civil Service Commission, federal workers freed themselves not only from fealty to corrupt political bosses but also from the status of at-will employees who can be fired for any lawful reason, or no reason—the condition under which most American workers, who lack union representation, operate to this day. As the civil service emerged, one of its central ideas was that its competent workers could not be fired without cause.
The second pillar of the system was put in place by the executive actions of a bipartisan line of presidents—Franklin D. Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, and Richard Nixon—each of whom played a role in expanding federal workers’ collective bargaining rights with the government. The first step was taken by Roosevelt. In addition to signing the Wagner Act, which finally guaranteed most private-sector workers the right to unionize in 1935, he allowed a few federal agencies such as the Tennessee Valley Authority to bargain collectively with unions representing their tradesmen. Roosevelt’s experiment was seized upon and expanded by Kennedy. As Cold War imperatives made it unseemly for a government that claimed to lead the free world to deny its own employees any voice over the terms and conditions of their labor, Kennedy institutionalized collective bargaining for most federal workers by executive order in 1962. Seven years later, Nixon signed an executive order that further strengthened federal union rights and simplified the process through which workers chose union representatives.

Embrace The Cold - Zayne
Off we go with the second installment of "What could the first time cuddling 'Enter LI name' be like!" This time it is the snowman himself, Dr. Zayne! Honestly this story kinda ran away from me for a bit and got both far more detailed and far far longer than I had planned, so let me know if this is something you like or if you'd prefer it to be kept a lil shorter for the next few! Have fun reading! ---------------------------------------
Over the years Zayne had gotten used to being called cold or uncaring. After a while he had even gotten used to the cold puns because of his demeanor and Evol. By now he didn't even mind those comments anymore. Strangers or even colleagues could call him a man with the emotional warmth of a block of ice all they wanted because he knew that the only person who mattered knew him better.
While he had never gotten any complaints about his bedside manner, at least not since he became head of cardiac surgery, his friends were far and few inbetween when it came to his private life. He cared for his patients with passion and professionalism, offering comfort to the best of his ability but he was also not shy about admonishing them if they disregarded his orders for a speedy recovery.
Yet when he thought back at the few awkward times his well meaning colleagues tried to set him up with friends, he couldn't help but cringe. They had all been lovely people, but Zayne had quickly learned that blind dates were not something he was very proficient in. The small talk about the weather and the place they had met at soon faded into silence and the date usually turned very uncomfortable for both parties involved as well as the waiter.
Zayne sometimes wondered what the waiter thought about him, considering that he met at this restaurant with every date he had been set up with, always being tended to by him. Did he think of him as a socially inept idiot that couldn't charm his way into a second date or just as a playboy who moved on to the next person after he had gotten what he wanted?
But then his mind would shift to you. You were the wrench thrown into the well oiled machine that was his life. After all these attempts at kickstarting his love life, Yvonne had asked him for one more attempt and he had only reluctantly agreed. Unlike the others he had been made to meet with, he immediately felt far more comfortable the second you entered the restaurant, a little late and flustered because of it.
Once you got all the apologies out of your system for being late, none of it actually being your fault, the two of you eased into a very comfortable conversation. There had been no awkward silence between you at any point, you seemed genuinely interested in the things he had to say, asking questions and even prompting him to remind you of your food you were neglecting for the sake of not missing a word. He of course returned your interest, questioning you on your life, your hobbies, whatever came to mind.
Before either of you realized, two hours had passed, you had eaten your dinner and dessert and even your drinks had been emptied for a while.
One date turned into two, then three and before you knew it you were a couple without ever really saying it out loud. In the following days and weeks your relationship developed quickly and also not at all. Due to his busy work life clashing with yours, meetings in person often were few and far inbetween, but you managed to make it up with voice and video calls during the times you had time but were apart.
But now something incredible, almost unbelievable happened. Not only did you manage to secure two weeks of vacation, but Zayne did as well. You had never seen him so giddy with excitement as you picked up his video call in the evening, excitedly telling you about his accomplishment. Plans were quickly made how you two wanted to spend your free time, both together and apart, and before you knew it, the days until your vacation had passed and your doorbell rang.
Zayne was wearing his usual dark attire, his silver glasses perched on his nose and a warm smile on his lips. "Are you ready to leave?" With a kiss to your temple he stepped past you into your apartment, grabbing the suitcase in the hallway as you put on your shoes and jacket. "I can't put into words how excited I am, I haven't had a vacation in forever!" He breathed out a quiet chuckle and waited outside the door as you quickly scanned your apartment again, making sure that you had not left on any lights or appliances before following after him, locking the door behind you.
Zayne was a meticulous driver, never speeding and with his hands always at their correct place on the wheel. Except for today. He was still driving like a model citizen, but unlike usual, your entwined hands were resting on the center console, his thumb rubbing comforting circles on the back of your hand. You had confided in him before that you were a little nervous, this was not only your first vacation together, but also the first night you would spend at his home.
If he was anyone but him, your heart would most likely be beating out of your chest or you would be nauseous from nervousness but this was Zayne after all. Your Zayne. Your gentle snowman of a boyfriend who would spend hours focused on the most complicated surgeries, saving lives with the very hand that now held yours, only to ask you to accompany him to an arcade in the evening so you could help him win a plushie to give to a young patient of his.
You have sat in at a lecture he was giving, his professional behaviour and calm voice captivating the audience and another day you saw him walking to the pediatric ward in light blue scrubs covered head to toe with little snowmen so the children wouldn't be as scared.
The car came to a gentle stop at the end of a short traffic jam. Zayne squeezed your hand and his eyes found yours as you turned your head. "What's going on in that head of yours? I can hear you overthinking from here." His smile was as gentle as usual, with an inquisitive look in his eyes.
"I don't know, to be honest. I know I have no reason to, but I think I'm a little nervous." The corner of his mouth twitched upwards a little and he turned his eyes back towards the road, now that the traffic jam had let up a little.
The busy streets of Linkons inner city gave way to a calmer neighborhood and after passing by the security guard of the gated community where Zayne lived, he soon turned into his driveway, only letting go of your hand to park the car and release his seatbelt.
His warm hands then ran along your arm to your hand, resting a moment against your pulse. "I won't dismiss your feelings by telling you there's no reason to be nervous, but you know me. You have gotten to know me better in the short time we have known each other than some people have who have known me for years. There is nothing I expect of you during our vacation except that you enjoy our time together. We get so little of it as it is."
He lifted your entwined hands and gave you a small kiss on your knuckles before letting go and exiting the car. You didn't even get the chance to open the door yourself, by the time you had gathered your bag at your feet, it was already open, with Zayne waiting patiently for you.
"Could you get the door? I had your fingerprint added to the automatic locking system." Zayne asked from behind you, hands full with your suitcase and his coat. As promised, the door gave a quiet click as you pressed your thumb on the scanner and the clean, almost clinical scent of his home greeted you.
It was almost funny how even his home held so many traces of his work, from the academic books and texts taking up an entire bookcase on their own, to his academic certificates lining the wall. When he had invited you over for the first time it even smelled like a hospital. There was the ever persistent scent of antiseptic, antibacterial soap and what you later learned was a hand lotion specifically formulated for medical personell that had to wash and desinfect their hands very frequently.
He had explained that as a surgeon, fragrances of any kind were not permitted and considering how much time he usually spent in the hospital, those habits had simply carried over into his private life. He didn't mind perfumes, colognes or any kinds of room sprays, he just didn't see a need to purchase them if they would only go to waste anyway. But ever since you had commented on it, not in a mean way in the slightest, he had started to experiment.
The next time you visited there was a faint scent of vanilla in the air, not overpowering but still clashing with the "natural" scent of his home. After that it was the scent of pine trees and eucalyptus which made everything smell like a very strange medicinal spa treatment. That one was discarded as well.
In the end, with your help, he had settled for a very unoffending citrus scent. It wasn't too harsh and also didn't clash. Instead of smelling cold and uninviting, his home now just simply smelled clean. He himself was an entirely different story. At his insistence, you two had once gone to try out some perfumes and colognes, with nothing to show for it but a headache and a desperate need for a shower and fresh clothes.
The two of you dropped down on his sofa, both tired from a long day of work and ready for a day of relaxing tomorrow and the two weeks of vacation that would follow. "I had planned to cook something nice together, but I did not anticipate how exhausting work would be today. I hope you are fine with takeout as well?" You could only nod and let your head drop back to rest on the backrest.
You couldn't imagine how extreme an exhausting workday would be for a surgeon, but yours had not been any better. Running from meeting to meeting, talking to customers and colleagues, having to forego your lunch break and just having to sneak some bites as you were once again rushed to yet the next thing you had to worry about. The rest of the week had not been any better, leaving you with no time to actually pack and prepare your apartment for your abscense until you got home in the afternoon today.
There were some minutes of silence as the two of you just lounged on the sofa, with Zayne copying your position with his long legs stretched out as far as they would go and his head tilted back. It wasn't particularily comfortable, but neither of you had the energy to move a muscle now that you had sat down.
His fingers were tapping gently along the cushions until they found yours, immediately wrapping around them. Soon the silence was starting to hurt your ears and you moved with a groan, stretching your arms and legs, allowing your joints to pop as you did. You quickly decided on tonights dinner and after ordering you both took turns in the bathroom to wash up and get changed out of your work clothes into something more comfortable.
During your dinner you shared some stories of your day, with Zayne talking more about the antics of his coworkers to avoid sharing information he was not permitted to and you venting about your lack of a lunch break and how many times you had to repeat yourself with those customers who did not seem to grasp even the simplest concepts.
Stuffed with dinner and dessert to full capacity, you quickly washed the dishes and debated what you would want to do with the rest of the day. It was too late and you both were too tired to go out again but it was still too early to go to bed yet. Tomorrow was already a day planned with mostly laying around and maybe going shopping for some last minute necessities before your vacation, so going to bed early tonight would only make you wake up far too early.
After your first time visiting, you had commented on Zaynes rocking chair, wide enough for one person to more than comfortably sit on, but still too narrow to fit you both. It had merely been a cheeky comment, with no intention behind it, yet when you had entered his apartment this time, the rocking chair had been banned to the bedroom, making for a comfortable reading space right by the windows and in it's place in the living room now stood something you could only call a rocking sofa.
It was a two seater, plush and comfortable with dark grey fabric, with more than enough space to even lay down and stretch your legs. There was also a small sideboard in front of it with a TV and the console you had played on together before.
"Please don't tell me you bought that just because of the comment I made." You said with a deadpan voice, scratching your temple with a sigh. Zayne placed a smooch on just that spot and turned to lead you over to the sofa. "Very well, then I won't tell you. I did not want to break it in on my own and now seems like a perfect opportunity. What do you say?" With a snort you ushered him along with a small smack to his butt, laughing at the way he nearly jumped out of his skin and turned to give you a playful glare.
He held the chair still so you could get on without an issue and watched with a smile as you stretched yourself out as much as you could. "Comfortable?" He asked, pushing and pulling on the back rest to make you rock back and forth ever so gently. "It is…but I bet it would be even more comfortable with company." You didn't have to ask him twice, tapping the space next to you with your fingers, you couldn't help but giggle at the violent rocking that shook you about as he sat down.
Sitting there together, with Zayne resting one of his legs on the ground to keep up the gentle rocking, you quickly felt drowsiness taking over you. "I never understood why parents like rocking chairs so much to put their kids to sleep." Your sentence ended with a big yawn, the kind that made your eyes tear up. Zayne did not comment and as you turned to your side to look at him, you saw that his eyes were closed.
His breathing was slow and calm but by the way he was still rocking the chair, you were certain that he had not already fallen asleep. His breath hitched a little as you raised your hand to trace some of the scars on the arm he had resting on his stomach. "Are you still nervous?" The room had gotten so quiet that his voice made you flinch a little.
He turned his head towards you when you didn't answer right away. Your fingers that had been running over his arms crept up to his jaw, running along the sharp bone, tracing his cheekbones to his temple, before brushing his dark hair away from his hazel eyes. "You told me I don't have to be. And you're right…I do know you, my precious snowman who will protect me just like I will protect you. I know that as long as I'm with you I will be safe."
For a split second you thought you saw a flash of pain run across his face, but with a blink of you eyes, it was gone. He turned over to face you fully. His arms slowly reached out towards you, one pushing into the plush cushions to reach under your body, the other circling around your waist and with a quick pull, there was hardly any space between the two of you anymore.
You could feel his breath on your face and in the way his chest pressed against yours, the hand of the arm beneath you settling on your lower back while the other carressed your upper back. For a moment you felt like your heart would start racing again due to the sudden proximity but as you stared at his beautiful features, those intelligent eyes that sparkled in greens, browns and even some specks of yellow, the long lashes that framed them and his plush lips that had made you weak with both words and kisses before, you noticed that it was just as calm as your breath.
Laying in Zaynes embrace, it felt like nothing could touch you, no one would dare to even think of harming you. Now even the thought of worrying about being with him seemed ridiculous. Had he ever even given you a reason to worry? Even your first meeting had just felt right. There was hardly any awkwardness, no uncomfortable silences. Maybe you had been moving rather quickly in the eyes of others, but neither of you regretted anything.
You did not regret telling each other your life stories right away, skipping the pleasantries and fun fact about each other for a later date. You did not regret wanting to give him a kiss on the cheek after he had dropped you off and accompanied you to your front door to make sure you made it home safe and he did not regret accidentally turning his head at just the last second so your kiss ended on his lips instead.
As you shared this intimate moment, a shiver ran across your body. Due to his Evol, Zaynes body tended to overcompensate the cold, making his body run hotter than most people. In turn, he prefered his living space to be on the cooler side. Luckily he was prepared and pulled the blanket, that he had slung over the backrest, over the both of you. As he adjusted on the sofa, he pulled you even closer, tangling your legs together to erase even the last bit of distance between you two.
Sharing your warmth and with the quiet affection visible between you both, you snuggled your face into his chest, the faint scent of something that was purely Zayne tickling your nose. You were safe, you were loved and with those thoughts in mind, you closed your eyes and drifted off to sleep.

Trump and Musk’s Tech Coup: A Blatant Power Grab to Politicize Government IT
Let’s be absolutely clear about what’s happening, Donald Trump and Elon Musk are executing a full-scale hostile takeover of the federal government’s tech infrastructure, turning nonpartisan, career-protected civil servant positions into political appointees they can install at will. This is not about efficiency. It’s not about governance. It’s about raw, unchecked power.
For decades, agency CIOs have been nonpartisan professionals, selected for their expertise, not their political allegiance. Now, with this move, Trump is stripping away that impartiality and opening the floodgates for political loyalists—potentially Musk’s own allies—to take over the very systems that handle federal cybersecurity, IT budgets, and even the infrastructure of government payments.
This isn’t just a problem—it’s a national security nightmare. We are talking about the people who oversee our country’s most sensitive digital infrastructure being hand-picked based on political loyalty rather than competence. And it gets worse: Musk’s so-called “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE) has already infiltrated agencies, accessed critical databases, and clashed with federal officials. Two USAID employees were put on leave simply for trying to protect sensitive government data. That’s not “efficiency.” That’s authoritarianism.
And let’s not forget—Trump just signed an executive order making it easier to fire career civil servants. This means that anyone standing in the way of this coup, anyone trying to blow the whistle on corruption, anyone daring to say “no” to Trump and Musk’s reckless overreach, is now at risk of being tossed out and replaced with yet another yes-man.
This is what happens when you let an unhinged billionaire and a twice-impeached authoritarian work together to consolidate power. It’s no longer about governing; it’s about control. Control of government systems, control of the workforce, and control of the very mechanisms that keep democracy running.
And the kicker: the White House “rightly expects” these new CIOs to not just execute policy but actively sell Trump’s agenda to the public. Translation? These positions aren’t just being politicized—they’re being turned into propaganda arms.
This isn’t just a “tech coup,” it’s a direct assault on the very foundation of an independent and functional government. And if Republicans in Congress—or anyone who still believes in democracy—don’t step up to stop this, we are looking at a federal government whose IT systems, cybersecurity defenses, and sensitive data will be under the control of Trump’s cronies and Musk’s minions.
This is corruption in broad daylight. The only question now is: who’s going to have the courage to fight it?

How Often Should You Upgrade Your Security System?

Businesses must ensure their security systems are up to date to protect assets, employees, and sensitive data.
The question is, how often should you upgrade your security system? The answer depends on various factors, such as technological advancements, business growth, and evolving threats. However, the involvement of an expert here can help.
1. Every 3-5 Years: Keeping Up with Technology
Security technology evolves quickly. If your system is more than 3-5 years old, it may lack features like AI-powered surveillance, remote monitoring, or encrypted access controls. Upgrading ensures you benefit from the latest innovations, making security more efficient and proactive.
2. After Business Expansion or Renovation
If your business has expanded, relocated, or undergone renovations, your security needs may have changed. New entry points, larger premises, or increased foot traffic require an updated surveillance system and Security Camera Installation, additional access controls, and improved alarm coverage.
3. If You Experience Security Breaches
A security breach—whether it's a break-in, theft, or cyberattack—is a major red flag that your system needs an immediate upgrade. Weaknesses in outdated security systems can make your business an easy target. Modern upgrades provide real-time alerts, high-definition surveillance, and stronger access control measures.
4. When Compliance Standards Change
Many industries require businesses to meet specific security regulations and compliance standards. If regulations change or your current system doesn’t meet the latest requirements, an upgrade is necessary to avoid legal and financial risks.
5. If Your Security System Shows Signs of Wear
Frequent false alarms, system glitches, outdated software, or unreliable performance indicate that your security system is no longer functioning optimally. Opting for Professional Camera Installation and replacing aging components with modern, smart security solutions ensures consistent protection.

Villain's Day Off

When their favorite minion Aubrey had pointed out the surprisingly empty day on the calendar after reviewing the month’s planned Villainous Events, they’d decided it was well past due to take some time for themself. It felt wrong to ignore all their professionally-inclined projects to instead focus on other things—personal things! Heavens! Their work ethic is crying—but it was also an exciting prospect. A free day in their usually packed schedule is a rare blessing, and they’re not going to squander it.
Aubrey had been thrilled when they’d announced their decision to take the day off, so to speak, but when the favorite minion realized the Boss had planned to simply spend their elusive spare time in the lab on a personal project, rather than say, taking a well deserved break at a spa or something relaxing of that nature? Well. Needless to say, Aubrey was driven to tears of despair; practically chewing on the hem of the uniform.
Oh well.
Villains make people cry, don’t they?
Guess that’s something.
Their day off starts in the lab, tinkering around with their prosthetic arm. It’s actually great fun when not being frantically pieced together with slapdash engineering: duct-tape, shoddy soldering, and a prayer. Having the time to improve upon the already sleek design is not something they’ve often been able to do. The tech that makes up their prosthetic is beyond what’s available on the global market, and certainly not FDA approved in any capacity since they’d done the grafting themself—not having access to human testing means they’d had to be the test subject—and the anchors are secured tightly through their skin into the scapula and clavicle. Nano-electrical technology threads into the surrounding muscle fibers and fascia, allowing a connection between the machinery and their nervous system. Being able to disconnect the apparatus from the base anchors to repair the actual prosthesis as needed was critical to the design, but it meant the actual installation procedure would be experimental at best and suicidal at worst. It had been excruciating and left horrendous scarring around the entire shoulder joint, but it was worth every agonizing second in the end.
The nanobots that they’d had to program and inject after grafting the anchor base was a secondary project, but an exceptional addition. The nanobots are what allow internal improvements around the anchor’s base without requiring them to surgically dig out all the deep tissue intrinsic makeup. They also act as monitors for active issues without requiring external diagnostics to be run weekly, avoiding hours hooked up to machines for maintenance scans. Additionally, and blessedly, they function as a secret weapon of sorts; nobody expects the Villain to heal so quickly—so capable of being throttled by the Hero and still managing to stand up again. They may not be physically strong, (barring the mechanics of their prosthetic, of course) but their endurance knows no bounds.
Their lips quirk up into a crooked grin as they stare down into the internal wiring of their prosthesis. All the minute details wrapped up in an impenetrable metal sheath is a work of art in their eyes, even if no one but they will ever see such beauty. Their toolkit sends off sparks that reflect in the lenses of their goggles as they modify the reaction time of the finger flexion. Dexterity is no laughing matter, after all.
They love their lab; it’s one of their favorite areas of the Lair they’ve built over the past six years they’ve been active as a Villain. It’s not the innermost scientific sanctum, instead one of the more outer sectors of the Lair. There are two halves: divided down the center into medical and mechanical. The Villain is currently perched in one of the metal work stools in the mechanical section, although they’ll migrate back and forth as they test the functionality of the prosthesis’ improvements over the course of the day. There are already a few scorch marks decorating the hem of the left sleeve of their long lab coat, the empty right sleeve knotted off and pulled out of the way as they work. Thankfully, they’re ambidextrous, otherwise they’d never have been able to continue their work after losing their arm eight years ago.
They woke this morning with the sun, energized and moving through their morning ablutions with a contentment they haven’t had in quite some time. Despite getting an early start with all the excitement thrumming in their veins, their zeal hasn’t faded even though it’s well past noon and quickly approaching dinnertime. The Villain hums under their breath as they tinker away, floating gleefully in their little bubble of mechanical fulfillment, drifting in a place where everything is tranquil and perfect, untouchable and impossible to damage—
—but the shattering of one of the mirrored external windows immediately disabuses that notion.
The Villain pauses where they’re hunched over their prosthetic, blinking behind the dark lenses of their safety goggles before straightening up and setting down their tool. They slowly turn to face the direction of the shattered window, pushing their goggles up onto their forehead almost robotically to reveal their unquestionably unimpressed, deadpan expression.
“I have a front door, you know.”
The Hero straightens from what is undoubtedly supposed to be a dramatic, flashy landing pose, gesturing sharply at the Villain with a furious expression—as though this idiot hasn’t just broken about three separate laws barging into the Villain’s private property like this…
“Villain! The Authority knows you’re behind today’s slew of robberies, so surrender quietly and I won’t rough you up too badly when I take you in!”
The Villain blinks slowly as one brow raises higher with each word out of the Hero’s mouth. They shut their eyes with an exasperated sigh, deflating and pinching the bridge of their nose. What sort of nonsense–!
“Aubrey!” they call loudly, knowing their favorite minion is doubtlessly within earshot.
“Yes, Boss?!” barrelling through the doorway like a bat out of hell, Aubrey freezes at the sight of their unexpected guest.
“W-Who-oaah, shit, h-hey, Hero!!” Aubrey stammers nervously, eyes like dinner plates and clutching that ever-present tablet-clipboard close to the chest. It’s only a matter of seconds before the absolute mess of shattered glass strewn across the floor of the Lab sends poor Aubrey into despair and wrathful fury all over again. “W-What have you done to the window?!”
“The Hero has decided to eschew doorways, Aubrey. For some godforsaken reason it seems I am being blamed for some asinine, puerile incidents—robberies of all things—that have occurred today. I am, for once, completely innocent of these claims as my schedule can attest. As such, relay my schedule for the day to the Hero, if you would please, Aubrey,” they command, gesturing lazily and pulling their goggles back down over their eyes as they get back to work on their prosthetic. They pause, raising their chin to add:
“Oh, and put in a work order for the window.”
“Of course, Boss!” Aubrey chirps, perking up immediately from the despair spiral.
“... you’re serious?”
The Villain pauses their soldering, peering up at the flabbergasted face of the Hero, staring gobsmacked amidst the minefield of broken glass. Their eyebrow raises upwards again.
“Deadly.”
“Boss has a very comprehensive schedule, Hero, and don’t you forget it! Today is a rare free day, so Boss hasn’t had anything planned, see? Oh, wait—I should show you the redacted version, haha, can’t show any big plans to the enemy! One sec, let me pull that up…”
The Villain returns their attention to their project halfway through Aubrey’s explanation, certain that their most competent minion is no doubt flawlessly using that thorough schedule on their tablet-clipboard to defend their alibi. The Villain quickly loses themself back in their work, finding the presence of the Hero in their Lab irrelevant to the task at hand; it’s not like they’re currently working on anything that could be thwarted, after all, and they severely doubt that the Hero has any sort of engineering or mechanical knowledge that could allow for sabotage of their prosthetic. With zero threat, the Villain feels perfectly safe letting Aubrey rip the Hero a new one, letting the brightly-colored do-gooder poke around while they work.
They’re in the middle of testing a circuit to check how quickly the upgraded lock-pick kit tucked into one of the fingertips springs into activation when they sense a presence hovering at their side. They continue working as they address said presence.
“Can I assist you in some way, Hero? Surely you’re convinced I had nothing to do with your paltry robberies as proof dictates I’ve been in my lab all day, after all.”
“Ah,” the Hero sounds surprisingly sheepish and out of the corner of their eye they can see the way the Hero rubs the back of a reddish-orange hair-covered neck. It’s a… cute gesture.
Hm. That’s a new thought.
“Yeah, I uh. I’m sorry about your window… I can um. Pay you back for it, if you send me the invoice?”
“I am perfectly capable of paying for my own repairs, Hero.”
“No, I-I’m well aware, Villain, god, I’m just trying to be nice!”
The Villain hums, amused at the frustration and embarrassment coloring the Hero’s voice, their left hand pausing where it’s in the process of retrofitting the external protective plating of the prosthetic so they can reattach and test it with its new improvements.
“I am fairly unfamiliar with the concept, forgive me.”
“... I don’t know whether to be saddened by that statement or to just feel disgusted by it.”
A tiny smirk flits across the Villain’s lips at the disgruntled Hero, entertained by the clearly irritated responses they’re managing to elicit. Perhaps they should consider teasing their Hero more often if these are the types of reactions they get from such behavior.
“Perhaps you ought to examine that dichotomy more closely at a later date, Hero. If you’ll excuse me,” they push past their Hero, prosthetic in hand as they walk over to the medical side of the Lab. They hook themself up to the simple monitoring system—blood pressure, blood oxygen, EEG, EKG—before reattaching the prosthetic and resolutely ignoring the steadfast shadow the Hero is proving to be.
They run through their standard tests while monitoring their vital signs, recording everything in their encrypted files. They attempt some specialized movements next, noting down successes and failures—thankfully the successes vastly outweigh the failures—and by the end of the trials, the Villain determines the upgrades safe for continued use. A quick rotation of the prosthetic in the base elicits a jolt as the nano-electrical anchors re-establish a few musculoskeletal connections, their nervous system lighting up like early Christmas decorations. A soft hiss escapes from between their clenched teeth as they massage the muscles around the anchor base.
“I-I didn’t realize it was an actual prosthetic,” the Hero speaks quietly, tone serious.
“Hm? What sort of assumptions were you making, then?” the Villain replies, more out of general politeness than actual interest; they don’t want to hear platitudes, least of all from The Hero.
There have been far too many comments over the years about their disability and quite frankly they’re sick of it. Past Heroes they’ve gone up against as a fledgling Villain have said things to them like “oh, I’d have been easier on you if I’d known you were crippled” or “I didn’t realize you had it so bad, you must be suffering” and other variations along those two lines of thought. It’s exhausting to be reduced to a limitation when it’s obvious that it doesn’t actually define who the Villain is in any way shape or form. Bad enough that their family started to write them off as a loss when their arm had been destroyed after being caught in the crossfire of that one fight years ago; they don’t need their adversaries not taking them seriously just because of a few measly missing pounds of flesh and bone.
“I–Well, I thought you’d made like, an exoskeleton or something,” the tone sounds embarrassed, and the Villain risks a glance at their Hero and is surprised to see a rather fetching flush decorating those rounded, yet defined cheekbones, “or-or that maybe you were just really dedicated to an aesthetic or something.”
The Villain snorts, charmed by the Hero’s naive interpretation of such an obvious disability, “No, certainly nothing so fanciful. But I applaud you for an interesting take.”
The Hero smiles: a quiet, soft, bashful thing that makes the Villain’s chest feel like it’s full of effervescence, warm and overflowing.
“I’m actually really impressed you’re so strong even with such a–an injury? I, I don’t actually know why you don’t have a right arm—you could have been born without it, I suppose!” The Hero bites at a slightly chapped, plush lower lip, awkwardness settling over a once-vibrant and energetic form into stillness.
The Villain sighs, “Your first assumption was correct, yes. It was an injury. And no, I will not tell you about it.”
The Hero brightens, a broad grin stretching across a soft face, and the Villain immediately feels as though the universe has righted itself. It’s a feeling that definitely needs to be re-assessed at a later date because it’s not something they’ve ever experienced before.
“Well, then yeah! I’m definitely impressed you’re as strong as you are despite such an injury—in spite of it? Or maybe even because of it,” the Hero says, suddenly thoughtful, “I don’t know you well enough to figure either way, I guess.”
The Hero scrubs a hand through bright hair, ruffling the already disheveled strands, “Y’know, and quite frankly I’d be worried if I did know you well enough! What kind of Hero gets to know their Villain like that?”
The Hero’s laughter feels like a hug while the use of a possessive before the Villain’s title makes them feel decidedly short of breath.
The Villain wants to keep the Hero, to possess their Hero entirely, and keep their Hero all for themself.
Forever.
… bit not good, that.
“Hm. Wouldn’t mind being someone’s anything,” they muse quietly and mostly to themself, flexing their right fist and making note with a pleased smile that all the joints move smoothly against one another without any abrasion or noise. They almost miss the soft choking noise that comes from their Hero standing beside them. They tear their eyes from the prosthetic, glancing down at the shorter Hero, only to marvel at the obvious surprise, longing, and the deep, dark blush painting those softer, rounded cheekbones.
Unable to resist a little playful bullying, they reach out,—slowly enough that their Hero could move away if so desired—grasping their Hero’s chin gently in their prosthetic grip. The action elicits a soft gasp from between plush, red-bitten lips.
“Tell you what, my darling Hero,” they drawl, voice low and rich, eyes lidded and locked onto the wide ones belonging to the stunned, flustered prey in their gentle grasp, “I for one have surprisingly enjoyed your company outside of our, hm, working hours, so to speak.”
The Hero’s swallow is audible and the lazy smirk that pulls at the Villain’s lips feels so right. “If you have any interest in perhaps continuing this, ah… parley if you will—feel free to come back next week. I’m sure I can have Aubrey get my thoroughly redacted schedule to you somehow. I have plenty of resources at my disposal, after all, and well… evil never sleeps, now, does it..?”
Their voice has dropped into a rumbling purr by the end of their short monologue, the Hero’s breathing rapid and pulse like a frantic hummingbird’s wing-beats against the sensors in their prosthetic’s fingertips. Gently, they let go of the Hero’s chin, a soft brush against flushed skin seeming to act as a jolt to the Hero’s system, causing the blushing fool to throw every ounce of bodyweight backwards. The bumbling Hero stumbles wide-eyed against tables and lab equipment in the mad dash to get to the door without turning around, fleeing as fast as possible.
The Villain watches their Hero run from their oh-so-tender clutches, buoyed with the knowledge that without a doubt they’ve succeeded in accomplishing something they’d never considered possible before.
They’ve caught the attention of Their Hero: not with cunning, or power, or violence, even. But with conversation and a hint of flirting!
What a fascinating new development.
They can’t wait to see what comes of it.

Drones, snipers, razor wire, sniffer dogs, body armor, bulletproof glass, and 24-hour armed security.
This is not a list of protections in place for a visit by the president of the United States nor the contents of a shipment to frontline troops fighting in Ukraine. This is a list of the security measures election officials in counties across the US have had to implement ahead of Tuesday’s vote as a result of the unprecedented threats they have faced in recent years.
Officials are putting in place the typical final measures to ensure the smooth operation of an election, but beyond checking that they have enough ballots and that machines are working properly, officials are now faced with having to monitor for threats and make sure they have done everything they can to protect themselves and their staff.
“Given the current political environment, the possibility that an event may occur has increased, and our election professionals have responded in kind,” says Tammy Patrick, a former election official in Arizona’s Maricopa County who is now a senior adviser at the nonprofit Bolstering Elections Initiative. “Efforts focusing on the physical security of the voters, election workers, and staff by putting in bulletproof glass, panic buttons, razor wire, and fencing are fairly common, as is the installation of surveillance cameras and systems, cyber protections, and training on de-escalation techniques and response drills.”
Nowhere in the US is the militarization of the election process more evident than in Maricopa County.
The fourth largest county in the nation, Maricopa became ground zero for election denial conspiracists in recent years, after GOP lawmakers sanctioned a bogus recount in 2021, run by the Florida company Cyber Ninjas.
As a result, the county has for years been putting increased security measures in place. “We're a fortress now,” Stephen Richer, the Maricopa County Recorder, told WIRED back in February, outlining how he had to navigate security fencing, metal detectors, and security checks in order to get into his office.
As the 2024 election approaches, the measures Maricopa officials are putting in place have been ratcheted up significantly.
Officials have added a second layer of security fencing to protect election offices, as well as concrete k-rails, which means election workers will be bused in from offsite locations due to reduced parking spaces. At the country’s tabulation center, every door will be fitted with metal detectors, floodlights will be installed, and on election day the center will be protected by a ring of snipers deployed on roofs around the building, election officials told NBC.
There will also be mounted police on standby outside the building, round-the-clock armed security, and drones in flight over the building, monitoring for approaching threats. The entire election office building is also covered in security cameras that livestream everything online for anyone to watch, a security measure that doubles as a way of offering transparency into its election process.
“The security and safety of our elections and those that help conduct them are paramount in ensuring a smooth election process,” Taylor Kinnerup, communications director for the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office, tells WIRED. “Since January of 2021, our office has increased badge security access, installed permanent barriers, and added additional cybersecurity measures based on the recommendations of law enforcement and other experts.”
The threats against election workers spiked in the wake of the 2020 election, spurred on by Donald Trump’s baseless allegations that the election was stolen. While the threats receded somewhat in between election cycles, they have picked up again in recent months.
WIRED revealed earlier this month that the Department of Homeland Security has issued a series of reports to government agencies warning about the “heightened risk” of right-wing extremists carrying out attacks around the election.
Just last week, the Justice Department’s Election Threats Task Force announced charges against four men for threats they made against election officials. “The fact that election workers need to be worried about their security is incomprehensible and unacceptable,” FBI director Chris Wray said in a statement about the threats.
Some of the charges relate to threats made back in 2022; as a result, election officials have been preparing for years for next week’s vote. Since the beginning of last year, the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency has conducted over 1,000 voluntary physical security assessments at election offices.
One of these assessments was conducted in Pennsylvania’s Luzerne County in late August, with officials from CISA and Homeland Security recommending that barriers be installed to prevent cars from ramming into the ground floor of the building housing the county’s election offices in Wilkes Barre.
“This is a measure taken to safeguard staff, the public, and the ballots,” Luzerne County manager Romilda Crocamo told local TV station WVIA earlier this month as workers installed boulders along the front of the building.
Crocamo also said the county had decided against using drop boxes because they could not adequately protect them. This week, multiple drop boxes in Portland, Oregon, and Vancouver, Washington, were set on fire in incidents police say were linked.
In addition to protecting the buildings where election staff work, some high-profile election officials have had to protect themselves.
Arizona secretary of state Adrian Fontes, the top election official in his state, revealed on Monday that he regularly wears a bulletproof vest after a series of threats were posted online and included his home address. In Adams County, Colorado, the county clerk and recorder Josh Zygielbaum has also been advised by local police to wear body armor after someone followed him home after a recent local election.
Zygielbaum recently told USA Today that he has taken the advice and now wears one every day. He has previously used militaristic phrases like “harden the office as a target” to describe his efforts to beef up security, which has included the installation of panic buttons under every desk
Tate Fall, Cobb County, Georgia’s election director, has also installed panic buttons that link directly to emergency services after a poll worker reported an agitated voter during this year’s presidential primary who was carrying a gun.
In some cases, new election offices have been built since the last election, including ones in California’s Los Angeles County and Durham County, North Carolina. These have been built with security in mind and feature bulletproof glass, security cameras, and doors that will open only with the right credentials.
In Los Angeles County, they are also deploying trained sniffer dogs to screen all the mail coming into election offices after a surge in letters sent to officials containing white powder, several of which have tested positive for fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid that can be deadly even in small doses.
As a result, most election offices across the country have Narcan kits on hand, and officials have been trained on how to administer the drug in the case of an accidental opioid overdose. Taking things a step further, in Durham County’s new election office, they have constructed a dedicated mail-sorting room that features a separate exhaust system to prevent potentially hazardous substances contaminating the rest of the office.
“Election workers now need to be experts in security, cybersecurity, public health, and public relations, while handling drastically more information requests and recounts,” Adam Hinds, former Massachusetts state senator and current CEO of the nonprofit Edward M. Kennedy Institute, tells WIRED. “One problem is they are already stretched in terms of funding and resources. As election administration receives more attention, our election workers deserve the resources necessary.”

Part 8
The work week feels as though it’s going terribly slow. Monday night I made plans with Walter to meet up for dinner and a beer. I wanted to thank him for getting to my girl so quickly last weekend and asked him to keep a close eye on the situation. He informed me that Colin bonded out Monday morning but that he was beyond pissed about being locked up for the weekend. The jail doesn’t do releases on Sunday so he ultimately had to sit and wait until someone could bail him out Monday morning which probably enraged him more than just initially being brought back in. I updated Walt on the security measures taken at Emma’s house and then let him know she was having a professional security system installed on Tuesday. I made sure to text Emma throughout the day when I could and called her every night before bed but I found myself really missing her. By Monday night, our texts started getting flirtier and Tuesday we found ourselves straight up sexting. I felt like a teenager telling her all the things that I wanted to do to her and even sent her a picture of me shirtless after a workout before getting into the shower. After my shower, I saw that she replied with a daring picture of her in lingerie laying in her bed and I swear I thought I had a stroke from how long I stood there staring at her picture. Her hair was curled and laid out over her shoulders, she had her bottom lip tucked in between her teeth and was wearing a deep purple lace lingerie set that instantly had me sweating. Without thinking, I immediately video called her even though we hadn’t done that yet. I was surprised with how quickly she answered the phone.
“I was wondering if you either died or just didn’t like my picture.” Emma says as she answers the phone. She was still lying in bed but had the covers pulled up under her arms.
“Sugar, I think I just about had a stroke when I got out of the shower and saw what you had sent me. Sweet Jesus babygirl, you are beautiful.”
“Thank you. I definitely looked at your picture for longer than I care to admit.” She smiles shyly.
“Oh yeah? Like Ol’ Sy all sweaty from a work out?”
“Mmhmm.. reminds me of when I get you sweaty from other workouts with me. Cardio specifically.”
“You naughty little minx. How about now that I’m all cleaned up?” I pan my phone down to show my raging hard on not concealed by anything since I didn’t bother with boxers once I got dried off, too distracted by Emma’s selfie.”
“Jesus Sy! Looks like you might be missing me a little bit.” She says cheekily.
“Just a bit. I’d be willing to bet that you might be missing me too?”
“Mmm, the little wet spot on my panties says yes.”
“Fuck, darlin! Let me see, please.”
Emma throws the covers off of her and spreads her legs to show me and I growl through the phone. She surprises me when she slides her thong to the side and shows me her petals glistening with her want. She arches her back and unclasps her bra to show me her perfect tits, begging to be sucked on.
“Oh, babygirl. I need you to touch that sweet little peach for me. Would you want to do that?” She nods and I start slowly stroking my cock.
“Pretend it’s me baby, put two of your fingers in that tight little pussy and curl ‘em up just like I do.” She breathily agrees and follows my instruction. I place my phone where she can see me stroking myself and I hear her moan.
“My fingers are too small. Yours fill me up better.” She whines.
“Oh, but I’m picturing those little hands wrapped around me before you spread your mouth and put your gorgeous lips on my cock.”
“Yeah? Mmm keep going baby.” She mutters as she continues to work herself towards her high.
My voice gets deeper as I’m thrusting into my fist, “Oh I’d be spinning you around so I could get my tongue on your tasty little peach while you choked on my cock baby. I’d have your sexy ass cheeks spread above my face while I shoved two fingers in you and make you squirt all over my tongue while you swallowed my cum.”
“Ah, Austin! I’m cumming!” She cries out and I fuck my fist harder until my release spurts all over my chest and abs. Damn, I’ll need to shower again. I hate cum on my chest hair.
“Damn, darlin’!” I say as I lay back and look at Emma through the screen. She looks back at me shyly and fixes her panties before leaning forward and tugging a t-shirt over her. I am immediately jealous that it’s not my t-shirt and think I should give her one to sleep in so that maybe she’ll dream about me.
“Don’t get all shy on me now, Sugar. We’ve done much dirtier stuff than that.” I laugh as I use my towel to wipe my spend off of myself before tossing it in the hamper and listen to her giggle.
“It just feels different not being able to snuggle up to you right after and feel you.” She murmurs.
“I know, angel. How about we have dinner tomorrow night so I can at least see you, if you’re free.”
“That’d be nice. Want to come to mine and we can just order take out? Maybe from Gia’s?”
“Sounds perfect, Babygirl. Everything go okay with the alarm system install today?”
“It did. The guy taught me how to use everything and I got all of the accompanying glass break sensors as well as the fire alarm and carbon monoxide connections too. It’s fully armed and already feel more relaxed knowing that the whole place is being monitored by the alarm company. Maybe that’s why I sent that spicy picture to you.”
“Well, that definitely makes me so happy and relieved. Plus, you got me acting like a teenager practically cumming on myself the second I saw you. You always look so beautiful, Sugar. Even now you’re stunning in just a t-shirt, although I wish it was my t-shirt you were wearing.” Her cheeks blush into a bright pink at the compliment I give her and I make it a new goal to get her blushing like that every time I talk to her.
“If I had one of yours, I would sleep in it.” She says with a yawn.
“Guess I better get one to you then.” She nods enthusiastically and I can tell she’s getting sleepy.
“I’m going to let you go and get some rest now, beautiful. I’ll talk to you tomorrow, alright?”
“Mkay, goodnight Austin. Sweet dreams.
“You too, Darlin’. Night.” I tell her before hanging up. I decide to not bother with rinsing off again since I’ll shower after my run in the morning and brush my teeth so I can turn in for the night.
I jolt upright from a nightmare and feel the sweat trickle down my chest. Fuck. I brush my hands over my face and look at my phone as I try to catch my breath. 1:56 am. Aika whines at me and slowly patters over to the bed in the moonlit room.
“I’ll be alright girl. Just the usual shit. Sorry I woke you up.” I gruffly tell her and point for her to get back in her bed. At least someone should get some sleep. To my surprise, Mills is still unconscious on his side in his little dog bed. Normally, my yelling or grunting during nightmares has Aika, whose hearing abilities have started to fade in her old age, up and by the bed in a matter of minutes in an attempt to comfort me. I stretch my bones and head to the restroom to relieve myself and cool off with some cold water on my face and head. I stare at my reflection in the mirror. What am I doing? I can’t get involved with Emma. She deserves the perfect guy and a picket fence lifestyle. I’m fucked up and can’t even sleep for more than three hours some nights. What if she had been here tonight and saw this? I could hurt her in my sleep. I got lucky the two nights that she stayed here, but I also don’t think I’ve ever slept so well. That could be because she wore me out with her sex abilities. God, I wish I could just turn it all off. All of the trauma and the nightmares. I would give anything not to see the blood, smell the gunshot smoke, or hear the sounds of assault rifles firing around me. She’s beautiful and delicate and already scared enough from the loser she used to date. The last thing I would ever want is for her to be afraid of me. I toss some more cold water in my face before I head to the fridge and get a bottle of water. I try to lay back down knowing it’s hit or miss if I’ll fall back asleep. If I do, I’ll either pick up right where the nightmare left off, or I’ll be so exhausted that I’ll sleep without any dreams at all. That’s what I’m praying for. I close my eyes and try to think of nothing other than Emma’s smile. Emma’s happiness as she loves on the dogs, and her peaceful face while fully relaxed in sleep.
My alarm startles me awake at 5:30 and unlike most days I don’t want to get up. I was lucky that I was eventually able to fall into a dreamless sleep. I toss some shorts on and brush my teeth while the dogs do their business out back. After feeding them, I grab my earbuds and my phone, tie my tennis shoes and head out for my run. Pounding the pavement with Led Zeppelin blaring in my ears helps me clear out my head. Some people run to think through their problems. I do the opposite, I run to empty my head of anything and everything. Choosing to focus instead on the nature around me and the difficulty of the path I have chosen. Inhaling and exhaling is my focus. Everything else gets pushed away for another day.
Luckily the day moved on a bit quicker, probably since I was so tired. After listening to my Nana rave about Emma again and ask for updates, which I had none to give, I was able to get on to work and push my focus onto the project at hand. After work, I went home to shower and put on some clean clothes before loading up the pups and heading out. I even remembered to grab an old faded green army t-shirt to give Emma before I left. I was on my way to Emma’s house for dinner and was still feeling a bit conflicted about our relationship. It’s obviously all my own bullshit, but I can’t help but feel like Emma doesn’t know what she’s truly getting herself involved with because I haven’t shown her that side of me. I know nothing has been made official, and that’s my own doing but I don’t know how far I should let this go. I absolutely wanted to see her and spend time with her, that wasn’t a lie. I just worry about getting attached or involving her in my problems, more than she already knows of at least. I decide not to allow my self-loathing to ruin the night, so I talk myself out of that headspace before pulling into Emma’s driveway.
She answered the door and immediately loved on the dogs. Mills still has limited manners so I had to reprimand him a bit for jumping on her. Didn’t need him scratching up her gorgeous legs in those tiny little shorts. After the dogs made it inside, Emma wrapped her arms around my neck and stood on her tip toes to give me a kiss. It wasn’t overly passionate, but it was definitely more than a peck. It reminded me of our kiss that day on my back patio.
“Hi.”
“Hey, Babygirl. You doing okay?”
“Mmhmm. Is it lame to say that I missed you?”
“Nah, not if that’s how you’re feelin’. I missed you too, Sugar.” I say as I tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. There’s that blush that I’m always aiming to see. I smirk at her.
“As always, you’re looking delicious.”
“Delicious? Like something edible?”
“You know I’m a man of my word and I’d love to eat every inch of you. I could show you if you don’t believe me.” She shakes her head incredulously as I smirk while my hands roam up and down her body. She bites her lip and I groan. She giggles and places a quick kiss against the scruff on my cheek before turning around and walking to the living room.
"I brought you something." I say and hand her the shirt. She beams at me before lightly kissing my lips.
"Thank you!" She inhales and I arch my eyebrow. "It smells like you."
"I hope that's not a bad thing." I chuckle.
"It's a very good thing." Wow, this is some real boyfriend shit, Sy.
We sit on the couch and I pull her legs across my lap, so that I can run my hands up and down them.
“I’ve already got my food order in the cart, what do you want to eat? I’m starving!”
“Hmm… I guess I’ll do some fettucine alfredo, and get some of those garlic knots please.”
“Mkay! Do you want a salad too?”
“I guess I ought too.” I say patting my belly. She rolls her eyes dramatically.
“Yeah, you’re almost at risk of losing one of your several abs. Can’t be too careful.” She says in her little southern sarcastic drawl. I arch my eyebrow at her. “Was that sass, lil’ miss? I’ll have you know, my abs aren’t going anywhere unless you start cooking for me every day. I’m still dreamin’ about those biscuits.” I tickle her sides and she attempts to fight me off.
“Okay, okay. I give up! No more tickles. Please, I can’t take it.” She says breathlessly and clutching her stomach almost in pain. Maybe I was too rough with her. She’s so small compared to me, I guess I need to be gentler.
“I’m sorry, Darlin’. Was I too rough?”
“Nope, just got a stitch in my side.” She replies.
After placing the order for our food, she shows me the alarm system that was installed so she can get my opinion on it. We head back to the couch and are involved in quite a heavy make-out session with Emma sitting in my lap. I start to unbutton her shorts so that I can slide my fingers into her warm, wet destination and am surprised that she shakes her head while pushing my hand away and says “not tonight.” I’m fine with it if she doesn’t want to do anything, I’ve never had an issue with being told no, but now I’m just curious as to if I’ve done something wrong. She’s acting just a little bit off towards me. I’m about to ask as the doorbell rings with our food order. After Emma receives the food, we sit down and start eating.
“You alright?” I ask her.
“Mmhmm.” She smiles over her glass of sweet tea but it doesn’t reach her eyes.
“How’s work been so far this week?” She asks.
“Usual, busy with projects coming up but I’m not complainin’ about job security.” I tell her. “What about for you?”
“It’s been busy, I feel like I barely get a chance to sit down but good. I have two surgeries scheduled tomorrow, just regular neuters, but who knows what else may come up. Did you know there is a man in town who has a 28-year-old tortoise named Fred?”
“Yeah, that’s the young family that moved here a few years back. Jonathan Turner.”
“Yes! Fred was so sweet. I haven’t gotten to care for a tortoise since I was in vet school and even then, I mostly was just observing. He was healthy though, which is good. It took three of us to get him in and out of the owner’s car, but I got Janet to take a picture of me feeding him lettuce today.” She says while showing me the picture on her phone with a smile. There she is smiling widely while holding lettuce to a giant turtle. I love how passionate she is about her job.
“Well ain’t that the cutest. Send it to me.”
“I meant to send it to you earlier, but just got swamped with charting and forgot.” She tells me as she sends the photo to my phone. We’d been sending each other random candid pictures throughout the past couple of days.
“You never told me how your dad reacted to the whole Colin thing?” Maybe that’s what’s bothering her.
“Oh, it was essentially a two-hour conversation where he listed all of the reasons I should come back home to live with them, and then all of the reasons I’m not safe here. He feels like I’m ‘not hearing him’ or I’m ‘taking unnecessary risks in the name of independence.’”
“Why does he think you aren’t safe here?”
“Mainly because I’m alone, I don’t have friends or family close by, and Colin now knows my address and place of work.”
“He knows where you work?”
“Yeah. At work on Monday, Janet informed me that a man had called last Saturday and asked if I would be working that weekend. She explained that I wasn’t on call and for the weekend but that if there was an emergency, she could recommend an emergency veterinarian. He didn’t give her his name, but it had to be him.”
“Fuck.”
“Yup, that’s probably what he attempted first. I mean, it’s not hard to google my name as a veterinarian and find what clinic I’m associated with. That’s likely how he found out I was here in town.”
“Well, what’s the plan if he shows up at work?”
“I’ve given Janet his name and description. If he shows up, she is supposed to discreetly notify me and call the police. That’s really all I can do. I’m sure the entire town will know by the end of the week because she seems to be quite the gossip.” Emma says embarrassed.
“Baby, you’ve done nothing wrong and everyone will see that. You have nothing to be embarrassed about.”
“It’s just that I was loving the fact that nobody here knew about my past. I wasn’t judged or pitied immediately. I was starting to get to know people and being viewed for my job and personality rather than some crazy sob story that everyone talks about. I’m just frustrated that it’s over now.”
“I can have a talk with her if”
“No, no. I appreciate it but I just don’t want to bring it up anymore.” She interrupts.
“Alright, how’d you leave things with your parents?”
“Well, Dad wanted to come out immediately but I still don’t have anywhere for him to stay. I'm not going to let them waste money on a hotel. I’ve convinced them to wait until the weekend after next to come and visit. So, I have to get all of the furniture for the guest bedroom figured out this weekend.”
“I’m happy to help if you’d like.”
“I might take you up on that offer because otherwise I planned to hire someone to help me get a bed inside.”
“Nah, sweetness. Sy’s gotchu.”
“Yes, he does.” She grins.
“I’m ready for dessert.” She says while I’m cleaning up the plates from our dinner.
“Whatcha got in mind?” I ask because I’m thinking it’s not the same as what I had in mind originally.
“Ice cream!” She opens the freezer door and pulls out a large gallon of blue bell vanilla ice cream. That brand is about the closest to homemade that you can buy. That’ll do.
She brings it to the counter and reaches on her tiptoes to bring down two bowls from the cabinet.
She hands me the scoop and I get started scooping some out for us as she scopes out some chocolate syrup.
“I need chocolate.” She smiles. We take our bowls to the living room and pile up on the couch but she leaves a little bit of space between us which feels unusual.
“Something I did to bother ya, Sugar?”
“No, not at all! Why do you say that?”
“You just seem a little off tonight. I’m not saying anything’s wrong, I just wanted to make sure I didn’t piss ya off without realizing.”
“God no. It’s not you. It’s me, I’m just not feeling great.”
“Coming down with something?” I ask.
“Not necessarily. It’s… sorry, it’s awkward to say, but it’s that time of the month. Started around lunchtime today and the cramps can be pretty painful.” She whispers with pink tinted cheeks.
Duh. The chocolate, not wanting my hands in her pants, holding her tummy after I tickled her.
“Babygirl, I’m a grown man. Nothing to be shy or embarrassed about. I ain’t afraid of a little blood. You coulda told me and I would’ve brought you some medicine or sweets. It’s natural, Sugar.” She fidgets with her fingers while I’m speaking.
“Sorry, Colin was always weirded out if I said anything about it. Heaven forbid he saw me buying tampons. He acted like I was disgusting and I guess, old habits die hard.”
“He’s a pussy.” I say and she laughs at my response.
“He is. One time, I bled on the bed when I got my period in the middle of the night and he was so freaked out. I apologized but he threw the sheets away. He wouldn’t let me wash them. Just threw them away and told me to buy some new ones. He made it more embarrassing than it already was. It was right after we moved in together so I just assumed he wasn’t used to living with a woman but he never got comfortable with ‘feminine things.’”
I sigh. Poor thing. “I’m not like that. Periods are natural and I don’t have a problem with any of it. I’ll even buy you tampons if you need me too. Even rub your little tummy.” I say with a grin and she smiles back. “You don’t have to be worried about telling me. In fact, next time, please tell me so I can come prepared to make you feel better.”
“I just didn’t want to gross you out. We still haven’t been seeing each other that long and I guess I was just embarrassed.”
“I swear if that douchebag ever shows back up, I’m not showing restraint again. I’m going to punch that asshole straight in the face for ever making you feel bad.” I tell her as I set the bowl on the coffee table.
“I appreciate the sentiment but you don’t have to do that. Hopefully we’ll never see him again. Maybe he got the point last time.”
“Come ‘ere.” I tell her as I pat my lap.
She climbs up on my lap and I shift us so I'm spooning her on the couch with my arm under her head. I reach under her the edge of her shirt to gently place my hand across the width of her little abdomen. She sighs and snuggles her face into my arm.
“Thank you.” Her muffled voice says against my skin.
“Don’t have to thank me for a thing. In fact, thank you for telling me what was going on. I was worried I made you mad somehow.”
“How would you have made me mad? You’re perfect. You literally never do or say anything wrong.”
“Sugar, I do a lot wrong, not intentionally of course. I’m a typical man so I can sometimes be an idiot. I might say or do something wrong and not even realize.” I chuckle and so does she. “Just promise me you’ll tell me if I fuck up and don’t realize?”
“I promise.” She says. We sit there in silence just cuddling a bit before she speaks.
“Would you tell me about your mom?” It catches me off guard.
“What do you want to know?”
“What was she like? Did she look like you? What do you miss the most about her.”
“She was the most incredible mother I could imagine having. Very loving, not very subtle when she didn’t like something I did, but she loved me anyway. She had long dark curly hair like mine before the chemo made it fall out. She was a great cook; got that from Nana, and she loved gardening. She always had the prettiest yard with all kinds of different flowers. She was a teacher when I was growing up, taught first grade at the elementary school. She loved reading and made sure I had hundreds of books to read. I guess I miss just talking to her the most. She always had a way of calming me down. She was extremely wise and would listen patiently before dropping the most prophetic advice you could imagine.” I smile at the thought but then images of her sick and weak from the chemo pop into my brain and I stop.
“I’m so sorry she got sick and you lost her. She sounds incredible.”
“She really was. I miss her a lot. She died and I guess I lost all sense of direction for a while. Decided to focus on the military and let it harden me a bit.”
“It was how you chose to grieve. I certainly don’t know what I would’ve done in your position… Do you regret serving in the army?”
“Not at all. Serving my country gave me purpose when I didn't have any. It definitely kept me from going buck-wild and down a dark road. I shouldn’t even be alive, but I am so I have to make the most of the life I was given when others weren’t so lucky.”
“What do you mean?”
“I just…I just got lucky. Good men died out there in front of me. Under my leadership. It’s hard to go on from that and act like life is normal when you’ve seen some of the things that I have.”
“You could tell me about it… you know, if you wanted too. You don’t have to carry that alone.” She turns in my arms to face me.
“I can’t.” I tell her, my voice almost cracking. She looks at me and nods.
“I’m here if you ever want too.”
“Thanks, Sugar. Don’t worry about me. I’m alright.” I rub the scruff on my head.
We lay there just cuddling and watching tv before she yawns and I know I need to head on home. We both have work tomorrow.
After several goodbye kisses and the promise of Friday lingering in our minds, I load up the dogs and head on home.
Part 10
Author's Note: Just a heads up friends, I am still in the first trimester of my pregnancy and the morning sickness (ALL DAY SICKNESS) is making it so hard to write when I want too. The doc put me on meds to help, but they make me super sleepy. I also have other littles that require a lot of time and attention. Just to let y'all know, updates may be slow but I will be working on it when I have time/feel well enough. Thank you for your patience with me and THANK YOU for following along on Sy and Emma's journey!

Ruben Dias - Offside Hearts Part 3/16
*Warning this story contains topics that might be sensative to some
Prologue Part 1 Part 2 Part 4

Rúben Dias, a 26-year-old star defender for Manchester City, finds himself at a crossroads when his casual relationship with a woman leads to an unplanned pregnancy. She decides she doesn’t want the child and offers him a choice: she’ll carry the baby to term, but she won’t be involved afterward. Despite the challenges, Rúben agrees, driven by his own principles and a desire to give the child a loving home.
Enjoy! ❣️
It would take Ruben three months and a couple of visits from his parents to feel like he finally got a hang of his life again.
It was certainly turned upside down the day his son came into the world. Ruben hadn't gotten a full night's sleep since, which wasn't an ideal change of lifestyle for a professional athlete like him. But despite the many challenges, Ruben was determined to raise his children right.
For his son's first year in the world he planned to hire a full time wet nurse that could not only feed the baby but also be a maternal presence in his son's life. Ruben could only imagine having to grow up without a mother. His son would grow up to have many questions. Questions that Ruben promised to answer truthfully one day, so that his son could understand that despite how he came into this world he was very much wanted and loved by Ruben.
Even before the baby's arrival. Long before it actually. Ruben had a maintenance company come over and secure every inch of his luxury apartment. He had them remove all pointy edges, mirrors, glass bottles— you name it. Anything that could potentially harm his son had to go.
It eased his mind, knowing that he was leaving his infant son in a secure household. Although, Ruben might have taken things too far installing a high security camera in every room in his apartment, including the babysitter's room.
"Isn't that illegal?"
Ruben stood on the ball, pausing the play between him and his teammate. "Illegal…?" He thought about it, but dismissed the question with a shake of his head. "No, I don't think so. How could it be when it's my apartment and my son?"
"But it's creepy." Bernardo said, receiving Ruben's pass and returning it immediately. "At least you have to agree with that?"
Ruben stood on the ball. once more pausing the play. Scattered on the grass field surrounding them other players were doing the same, passing a football between themselves to the displeased gazes of the teams coach and assistants. Ruben was glad to be back training, however it ached his heart that he had a very good reason to stay at home.
"Ruben?" Bernardo alerted. "Did you hear what I said?"
"That I'm creepy for installing a camera in someone's bedroom. Yeah, I heard you." Ruben chuckled and returned the ball.
"And?—"
"The security system isn't for me to abuse Bernardo. It's to ensure the safety of my son."
"You're unbelievable, did you know that?"
Ruben laughed. He had much respect for Bernardo, his best friend, who had much to advise and educate Ruben on what it takes to raise children. However, with all due respect, Bernardo was a married man, with a stay at home wife who took care of the majority of things involving his now three year old daughter. All Bernardo had to do when he came home from training was to play with his baby until she fell asleep. Ruben on the other hand, was a single father, having to figure it out all on his own.
Not that he was complaining. But it was far from easy. Ruben would never admit to it, but the fear of failing as a father sometimes kept him up at night.
"Why don't you and the baby come over for dinner tonight?" Bernardo suggested. It would be the third time that they would've done so this week. Ruben had begun to suspect that Bernardo and his wife was just making sure that he hadn't fucked it all up yet, after his parents traveled back to Portugal at the end of last week.
"I dunno, I'm really tired, and I have a meeting with my lawyer this afternoon."
"Yeah, how so?"
Ruben shrugged his shoulders. "Perhaps something came up about the final settlements."
"Oh, okay. How about this weekend then, after the game. You should come over for dinner, Ines is cooking."
"That sounds nice Bernardo, really. But I just think I'm staying in this weekend."
Bernardo stood back with his hands on his hips and a smug smile on his face.
"What?" Ruben frowned.
"Nothing. I guess I just have to get used to the new you."
"The new me?"
"Yes. The new Ruben Dias. The responsible father. The retired party animal. No more fiesta!"
Ruben smirked as he passed Bernardo the ball. "Well, I guess you're right about that." Too much partying is what left him with his son, Thiago. Although he was a blessing to his life, Ruben was done with the rogue lifestyle he was once a custom to. A lifestyle that often resulted in brief night's with eager women who he never saw again. Perhaps it was time for Ruben to finally settle down and find someone that could accept both him and his son with no alternative motive. But due to his chosen profession this was most likely impossible.
