W h o ⁕ i s ⁕ S a l o m è (quick summary of her story):

⁕ Salomè, the princess of Judaea, falls in love with the prophet John The Baptist (i'll refer to him as 'the prophet' to avoid repeating his name too much) and orders to free him from the prison he was held in (for condemning the marriage of Salome's parents, King Herod and his wife Herodias as unlawful)

⁕ The prophet rejects her, but she assures him she will kiss his mouth sooner or later, no matter what.

⁕ Salome's mother in the meantime convinces her daughter to view the prophet as an evil person that deserves to die (alimenting her fresh feeling from the rejection)

⁕ When Salomè is asked by her stepfather king Herod (who lusts over her) to dance she agrees only if she can asks anything in return.

⁕ Once the dance's over, Salomè requests the decapitated head of John the Baptist on a silver plate.

⁕ To the horror of all the partecipants, she finally kisses the mouth of the prophet consumed by her lustful desires.

⁕ King Herod, sickened and shocked, orders her execution.

I also want to make a quick clarification between asteroid Salomè and Sirene because both are seducing and mesmerizing energies, but imo: Sirene : conscious type of seduction, aim for what they want, in control of their actions , calculated Salomè: unconscious type of seduction, influenced by others in their choices, controlled by their desires, not in control of themselves

⁕ Every section is about one of the Seven Deadly Sins ⁕ Within every section there will be interpretations of different Salomè signs/degrees, depending on which Sins they fall into (in my personal opinion)

Disclaimer: every single sign could fall into every single sin since they're all part of human nature, but one would always prevail on others imo, and this is just my personal take on them.

Theon/Robb and Sansa/Brienne for sure, although Theon/Robb is more about like, Theon post Reek-d acknowledging he was in love with Robb, or something like that, I don’t want any sort of Throbb where it ends happily, the point is the pain. I would say I more normally ship Stannis and Davos, in that like, yes i WOULD like to see those old men happy raising shireen and davos’ other kids and marya is happy too, selyse is banging melisandre, it’s fine this is gonna work out for sure.

Recently I've finished reading "Hoe she died" and - and besides the fact it was a phenomenal fic -I really wanted to say that I A D O R E the way you write Jon and Robb friendship in all of your fics - but this one really got to me - sob. It can be so difficult to find good non-fiction resources on queer topics. Which titles to DO you recommend?

Even if we assume that Rhaegar married Lyanna, does their marriage would be considered valid? In the show Gilly and Sam got to know about marriage through the some records. Is it possible in books too? What do you think?

Well, I can’t say that any of D&D’s decisions made sense in hindsight, and I don’t know how any evidence would be presented and sufficient enough to convince Westeros as a whole that Jon was Rhaegar’s “legitimate” child, but all that aside, this is the all-important book quote:

"Likely they were too shy to come out," Ned jested. He could feel the chill coming up the stairs, a cold breath from deep within the earth. "Kings are a rare sight in the north." Robert snorted. "More likely they were hiding under the snow. Snow, Ned!" The king put one hand on the wall to steady himself as they descended. (AGOT, Eddard I)

That’s compelling evidence that Martin intended Jon to be a Targaryen heir (“true born" in some capacity) from the beginning of the story. Sure, Robb and Bran become kings, we'll have several kings springing up in the North, but the "hiding under the snow. Snow, Ned" is (imo) unarguably a reference to Ned hiding Jon's identity by claiming him as his bastard (Snow). And the idea conveyed is that Ned is hiding a king. (@sherlokiness has several posts about additional wordplay around this, specifically the Jon and Joffrey, bastard and prince stuff).

As the series goes on, we get additional king references for Jon, and people have argued that it's KitN foreshadowing, and maybe, maybe that's what happens, but this passage, way back in AGOT, indicates that it is Jon's bastardy (hiding under the snow) that secrets the king. Not that he will eventually be chosen as one, but that he is one by virtue of his birth.

I don’t much care either way. I’ve pointed out that Jon being a bastard and going up against a true born is a fun progression of his bastard issues as is finding out he’s a trueborn and hating it/rejecting it because of what Rhaegar and Aerys did to the Starks. Either way, it’s juicy! There are things to explore. So, I’d just remind people, this spec isn’t about any specific bloggers hopes, or relying on GoT, it exists because of Martin’s words. And even if we find it offensive or think it goes against the later worldbuilding, there are lines in the book that indicate it’s potentially what Martin was planning way back when.

Now, I don't know why on Earth D&D bothered to write tangible proof of Jon's legitimacy in s7 when they totally neglected to do anything politically in s8 that would require that? Maybe keeping their options open if they needed to prolong the series? But I find it difficult to believe there will be a specific document that would be universally recognized as evidence of his legitimacy because Rhaegar was already married and had an heir. So, even if Martin wrote in a marriage for the sake of playing with the secret prince / heir to a dynasty idea for the reader’s sake, that doesn’t mean happy acceptance in-world. I’ve said the same about Robb’s will, it matters more what the Northern Lords say, how they weigh their competing interests and the threats they’re facing, rather than the specific words Robb wrote. Also, we have Aegon and Dany, so even if R/L were married and there was proof, after two other Targs pop up and war over the throne, I can't see people being moved by that? I would think they'd be sick of Targs no matter how sure people were about Jon’s identity.

Although, I could see the Northerners believing Jon is Rhaegar's son because a) they all already know Rhaegar kidnapped Lyanna and b) it doesn't really make sense for Ned to have fathered a bastard, so once Bran breaks it to Jon and/or Howland confirms it, I think they'll accept it because it would feel possible? Feel true? And obviously, we would know it’s true. So if this is about the Northen tangle, we don't need much. Actually, I just realized some people might spread it to try to undermine Jon/the Starks. 👀

I often just see these things as having a lot of potential paths and not knowing which direction is more appealing to Martin. He likes "the human heart in conflict with itself" so Jon being offered his dearest wish (being a legitimate son of Ned Stark) only for that to be absolute hell because he's falling in love with the man's daughter, well, that might be fun for him to write. But then comes R+L=J, and if he wants to be with Sansa, Jon needs that information to come out. If he's rejected Winterfell when Stannis offered it, rejected Winterfell even though Robb wanted him to take it, if he then can press his (Targ) legitimacy without displacing a beloved family member and in doing so, it might allow him to be with Sansa? That’s an angle. Or if he is KitN, he’d be highly motivated to keep that a secret for the sake of stability in the North, regardless of his feelings….I really can’t say. And I don’t remember anything in Sam’s chapters that made me think he’d find a diary, although the fact that Jon is forcing him to do something he doesn’t want to do makes the idea that he finds something and runs, potentially screwing Jon over kinda interesting. Actually, it’s always been a favored idea that he plays a hand in Jon rising to another position of power because of his part in getting Jon to be Lord Commander, so there is that! I guess I need to reread AFFC the whole series with a list of my new questions. 😅

The Monster of Winterfell - Chapter 1 - mskullgirl - Game of Thrones (TV) [Archive of Our Own] and the second is I Know My Kingdom Awaits, where young theon manages to escape the north & return home. sadly little robb dies in this story, but his memory haunts poor theon, and we get to see plenty other Ironborn characters, I imagine you might enjoy it more :)

Martin [Archive of Our Own] hehe I'm pretty damn proud of that line, so I'm so happy it got a laugh out of you! X'D you know the Ironborn have to have at least a few iron cock jokes! aww thank you so much! :'3 i'm afraid I'm not much of a writer, but I do have a few ideas to share!  1) i've been thinking more about ramsay fostering on pyke in a little more detail, so imagine ramsay gets sent to pyke at age 7 or so right? little ramsay arrives furious & hurt at being sent away, trying to be brave in a new place so far from the north..and the first greyjoy he meets is theon in the training yard, practicing his archery and offering ramsay a try with his bow. this becomes the start of their friendship and over the next three years they grow thick as thieves, learning & training together/both aiming to become the best archer on pyke, hunting for shells on the beach/swimming in the sea, arguing over who'll be the captain & first mate of the ship they'll have one day when they become reavers...and then the rebellion happens and suddenly rodrick & maron are dead (he hated them for their thrashings & japes, but they were the only older brother-figures he's ever known) and Theon is torn away from him, dragged north while he's left behind (roose didn't care to have him back) left with asha who he's never gotten on with (they totally fought over theon) and alannys who clings to him along with the other boys she had brought to pyke after the rebellion. from there until the current timeline ramsay grows into a proper Ironman & feared/successful reaver, captioning his own ship, maybe even having a few saltwives & children of his own. and the moment he hears of theon's return? he's making damn sure he's the first to welcome him..in his captain's bed of course ;) i love your idea for ramsay playing theon's evil adviser btw!! could so see that happening here >:3

2) much shorter idea here! but imagine theon somehow learns of ramsay's plan to betray him and take Winterfell before brian & rickon can escape? leading to theon doing what he should have done, sailing back to pyke with the boys as hostages, and ramsay in tow, who'd have drunk spiked wine and fell asleep in his cell, only to wake up on the ship to pyke, much to his confusion! leading to him becoming theon's ward & responsibility, bringing out the harder ironborn in theon as the two battle for dominance in their own way.. i totally get not really being a Thramsay person btw! the ship isn't for everyone (and can get a bit too brutal for me too ;u; ) so luckily robb/theon is right there for us~ oh tho I am curious of your thoughts on show ramsay? first, i'm glad you enjoyed "Farwynd & Fire"!!! the author of that fic is super nice and i always love more ironborn fic out there <3 definitely check out "Last Serving Daughter" when you're done with F&F, it really slapped my dick and balls clean off when i first read it.

thramsay is such an interesting beast to me because while i don't "ship it" per se... it is, like, textual lol. well, it's up to interpretation. but my interpretation is that thramsay is implied such to be intriguingly subtle yet undeniable. so while i must personally abstain, i call upon any thramsayheads in the chat (I Know Who You Are 🫵👁️👁️) to fall upon this thramsay rec like a white-haired starveling upon a succulent dungeon rat.

I've actually read "I Know My Kingdom Awaits" years ago and i distinctly remember the tummy ache it gave me :-( suchhhhh a good fic (killing off kid robb is iconic) but DAMN. i am not strong enough for a re-read rn, but i remember the ironborn world-building/character work absolutely balling out. (turns dramatically to address the audience) please go read it if you haven't already!!!!!

it's really fun to ponder the sort of person ramsay would be with a different upbringing. i interpret ramsay as having some inherent predisposition to sadism, but him being able to channel that sadism "appropriately" in a brutal warrior culture is soooo juicy. like what if your evil was Cool and Masculine and State-Sanctioned.

also, you just know that the SECOND theon returned to the iron islands, ramsay was out there gleefully emotionally manipulating him <3 theon only catches on when it's apparent that ramsay has a massive throbbing (heh) boner whilst isolating him from his allies and sexually coercing him. RIP ramsay in TWOW, you should have been theon's grima wormtongue </3

i'll admit... i'm not The Dragon Show's strongest warrior. i think it's a good show (well, the first 3-4 seasons) and a pretty decent adaptation, all told (again. only for the first 3-4 seasons). the books also have the inherent advantage of having oodles more time to flesh out the characters, setting, plot, etc., so ASOIAF naturally has richer/more complex characters and storylines (sometimes to its detriment. see: 14 years since the last book). that said, i don't have any strong feeling about show ramsay? generally, i enjoyed the show's spin on him and i think the actor did a great job, even though it's really ramsay's appearance or personality in the book.

i decided to save the sandor-alyn standoff for later (perhaps once another character with a strong emotional reaction to the hound is in the mix? 👀 one million STRS points if you can guess who~) but MAN it's juicy to imagine. like, they both hated the same dude and wanted to kill him, but now that dude is dead so what is left for them to do? they have to keep going in a world where the object of their loathing is now forever beyond their grasp. they have to live, but living is harder than dying in a doomed revenge quest. it's harder to live for love than to live for hate. which alyn and sandor shall soon discover! ☝️

tbh if you have a song in your heart, you should write that fic!!! no one can write the story you can, and there is someone out there just waiting to be your fanfic soulmate (haiiiiiii to my long-suffering rock wife lukas @undeniablespice <3 <3 <3) anyway, i hope all is well for everyone on this hot as FUCK friday night :3

Sansa could do it, if she really wanted, but the historical Elizabeth did not have an easy time with her decision. She had dozens of suitors and was even on the cusp of betrothal a couple of times. Her privy council nearly lost their minds in fear of her dying without an heir. They were so desperate that for a moment they were willing to accept Robert Dudley as a husband, which was a terrible choice for a number of reasons.

My point is, Elizabeth remains, 500 years later still the only (adult) British sovereign who never married. Her personal and historical circumstances were unique, and have never been repeated. She was an outlier, the exception, not the rule.

Sansa knows her duty is to produce an heir, and I doubt George wrote all that motherhood foreshadowing for nothing.

!!! And the Starks don’t have a great record here. Think about the previous generation. Rickard and his heir die, then that happens to the canon generation with Ned and Robb, and they’ve lost the other boys too...I mean, the heir issue is just not something that can be dismissed. Especially when the North has suffered so and Winterfell has been taken...there's such recent reminders of how precarious it all is. It wouldn't be reasonable for the Northern Lords ignore the issue.

I don't know what D&D were thinking with the Elizabeth I stuff other than, they had just killed off the two other queens, one in a way that would infuriate fans, so it's possible they thought that framing Sansa that way would help counter what they had to know was coming for them? Right after the show ended some of us speculated that we got a scrambled eggs version of events and that Sansa was to be QitN much earlier.

I have a few hangups when it comes to resolving the Northern succession crisis because it isn’t clear to me which path answers all the issues.

Considering Jon's repressed desire for Winterfell, I don't think he'd ever be able to take it, not after Robb's death and while trueborn Starks lived. Some have suggested that the show's version of he's KitN and Sansa is LoW is the compromise, but if we're basing KitN on Robb's Will, I don't see how the Lords accept and push for him to be king regardless, if he's refusing to inherit? That’s what the will was for.

This is where Jonnel/Sansa comes in and I've said before, Jonsa could be the contrast where the marriage where, rather than taking from the girl, it’s actually the way to give her home back to her/rectify a wrong. And I don't want to dismiss the precariousness of the situation and that Jon (at Sansa's urging) might go along with inheriting or being KitN in order to unite the North and prepare for war, but the guilt. And also, that works in the specific scenario, what of the overall issue of girls being passed over? Is Martin merely pointing it out or will he offer a sign of progress ie the Northern Lords opting for Sansa to inherit or be queen? I mean, Jon will have lots of rumors floating around him post rez, not sure that he could be a unifying force? And the idea of a bastard rising up to lead them...idk.

That brings me to the bastard issue! How society looks at bastards is obviously horribly unfair to the kids, so is Martin gonna progress the North on this issue by them rallying behind Jon or will it be Sansa having a child who may or may not be legitimate but is her heir? As in, she’s still married to Tyrion, will the North say fuck it and have Jon and Sansa marry under their own religion or if R+L=J isn’t widely known yet or Jon is controversial in the North, they secretly marry and Sansa “legitimizes” her child later and that progresses the issue?
