Sometimes, I worry my book about a teenage girl praying to a Japanese goddess to become a robot vacuum cleaner is just too "out there."

Then I remember that Makoto Shinkai, the writer/director behind Your Name, made a movie about a girl who teams up with a guy who turns into a chair to save the world from supernatural worm earthquakes...

... AND that HE WANTED THE MALE LOVE INTEREST (again, the chair, temporarily; it's a long story) TO BE A FEMALE LOVE INTEREST....
