why the archives. like girl archival is such a lame job. no fucking wonder you got a wet cat of an Archivist, someone who works in archival is inherently gonna be a wet cat. ask stupid questions (who wants to work in my archives?) get stupid answers (the most pathetic Special Little Boy to ever work at your institute)

Just got a job interview to be a receptionist at a dental office and they would pay me $5 more than I’m making now, full benefits (I currently have a seasonal position so no benefits at my current job), and full time! This is big news! Interview on Monday! Oh my gosh I’m so anxious but also excited! Never thought I would be excited about a job interview with a dentist lol.

I'M BACK!!!!!!
they told me that the apprenticeship they offer is a bit different from the traditional one and said i have the options to a) do the non-traditional one they offer or b) do the more traditional one at a local school with the option of doing paid internships at their company. that kinda sounds like they want to hire me but they phrased it in a very generalized way so idk yet. but they invited me for a test day on tuesday to see what they actually mean by "non-traditional" so that's good!!

my mom was applying for new teaching jobs recently and apparently in one of her interviews the principal brought up me being trans bc he heard it from my high school vice principal like HUH
#i talked to him about my schedule once bc our guidance counselor quit 2 weeks into my senior year#but I didn't evne know he knew i was trans? one of the receptionists did mention it to me once to say i could request a new diploma#and i uhh semi-illegally wrote my chosen name on my nametag thingy at graduation and had it read out#so it's not like inconceivable especially bc by the time i graduated all my teachers and peers mostly knew but#i just never bothered going through administration and asking for help there bc i knew they'd say no#especially by senior year when it was straight up illegal regardless of their opinions#so i was... surprised. and also it's weird to bring up in an interview but she did know this lady prior & it's a small town#but like AUGH. The Population of my small town now knows me as The Transgender#AND at some point i will need to contact my old internship ppl and tell them my name changed to use them as a reference so#not even just the school board but also the city council will know. and not just bc their kids went to high school with me.

actually applied for a job im a bit optimistic abt 🙏
#i already applied to the same place over christmas and had a really good phone interview like two weeks ago and then never heard back#but the interviewer really liked me i think and its a good location and i like the sound of this job a lot and its hiring full and part tim#it sounds easy and maybe even fun? ish? it sounds like something i would be good at anyway#basically being a companion to residents at a nursing home#like taking them on their daily walk and keeping them entertained lol#and helping with some educational stuff#i can def do that i used to do it with disabled kids it was super easy and also old people love me lol#as long as they actually hire me lol#this is thr first job i've been excited about in a while#but i was excited about the last one and it was terrible so....lol#but i hope i get it then at least i'll know#and it probably cant be as bad as the last one anyway so i could tough it out for a while until i got something better tbh#but hopefully it will be good#pay isn't the absolute greatest but i could do it for the convenience of the location and a job thag doesn't suck#at least for a while#anyway i hope i get it!! 🙏#this has been a shitpost#anyway before i applied for part time receptionist at the same place and didn't get it but this is a better sounding job#and they're hiring full and part time so possibly multiple positions?#and i have more relevant experience for this one

hm. im basically Hired now?
#i Technically have an interview but the positions mine already its formality#then i guess i start receptionist training?????#and have a job????? part time and only 2 days a week but still a job. with a little money (est 11/hr)#i dont. Ditto for phone/video call/Zoom interviews. Please treat them like you would an in-person interview! This is not a chat with your bff or a cute Tik Tok!
not to sound like a boomer, but I need some people to learn how to write emails in a semi-professional (at the very least) format so you're not cold emailing a business/potential employer/any other stranger about formal matters in the exact same way you'd DM a close friend on instagram
the formality/language can loosen up in the email chain once you've established a rapport and you match the other person if they're being less formal, but please don't have the very first email you send a stranger be written in all lowercase ultra-casual sms slang with no greeting or signature and a billion emojis
#this sounds like a 'argh kids these days doing [insert exaggerated story they don't actually do in reality]' kind of thing#except that I've gotten soooo many emails like this#< this!#so many like pink glitter font resumes and just super cringe interviews during our recent search for a receptionist#I should be able to tell if Doc is doing a zoom interview or watching an aspiring TikTok influencer when listening from the other room#and I legit Could Not#and emails and resumes with mispellings big grammar errors etc from people looking for a job that is entirely about communication!#like y'all will be writing in the patient chart which is a *legal document*#you should be trying to show off how well you can do the job your applying for
