Summary: These partnerships are part of The Royal Foundation's Community Impact programme's ongoing work to mobilise unique coalitions across the UK to help communities foster greater social connection and develop local community spaces.
1️⃣ Transforming community spaces on the Isle of Mull

Royal Foundation announced two exciting new grants from The Community Impact Programme.
Local interior designer and BBC ‘Designing the Hebrides’ presenter Banjo Beale has volunteered his expertise to collaborate with residents to create spaces that reflect the island’s coastal beauty and vibrant culture. Plans include playful murals, refurbished furniture, and upcycled artefacts, all designed to breathe new life into this essential community hub.
In Tobermory, the much-loved Aros Hall is being re-designed, with work including the refurbishment of the ‘Rainydays’ play area and the introduction of a new soft play zone. These improvements respond to parents’ feedback about the need for more play opportunities for children in the north of Mull. The space will continue to be an essential part of the community, regularly used by local charity Home-Start Lorn to support parents and carers in building strong relationships with their children.
Meanwhile, Pennyghael Community Hall, located in the rural Ross of Mull, will benefit from crucial renovations including vital roof repairs to ensure the hall continues to serve future generations.
The grants have been bolstered by partnerships with key organisations through The Royal Foundation’s Centre for Early Childhood‘s Business Taskforce. The Co-op has provided funding for play equipment for Aros Hall’s ‘Rainydays’ play area, while the LEGO Group has contributed resources to encourage young children on the Isle of Mull to have access to creative play and hands-on learning.
The Foundation is also helping the community explore plans for a sustainable café in the Ross of Mull and fostering opportunities for connection through yoga-based activities funded by local funders the Q Charitable Trust.
2️⃣ Securing roles for rangers in Mull & Iona

Rangers play a crucial role in balancing conservation with sustainable tourism, ensuring the natural beauty of the Isles remains accessible to residents and visitors alike. 
3️⃣ Community led changes in Leith

The Royal Foundation announced a new partnership with Street Soccer Scotland through its ongoing Community Impact Programme.
This partnership will launch ‘Leith United,’ a local coalition working to revitalise community spaces and foster social connection for vulnerable communities in Edinburgh. By bringing together Leith Community Centre, YMCA Edinburgh, and Street Soccer Scotland, this initiative will strengthen local wellbeing and create a blueprint for sustainable social impact that communities across the UK can replicate.
With support from The Royal Foundation, ‘Leith United’ will enhance existing sports-based initiatives at Leith Community Centre, using the power of football to support individuals facing mental health challenges, addiction, homelessness, and isolation—ensuring they feel part of a welcoming and inclusive community.
As part of The Royal Foundation’s ongoing commitment to strengthening social connection, additional support has been secured to further enhance ‘Leith United.’ This includes an in-kind donation of football equipment from Mitre, the official ball supplier for the FA and football governing bodies globally, to help sustain sports-based initiatives at Leith Community Centre.

My memories: Prior to HM Queen Elizabeth's (The Royal Patron) arrival, the then Duchess of Cambridge spotted a stray twig on the ground which she snatched up and tucked away in her personal handbag. After TRH The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge gave the Queen her private tour of the children's nature garden, Queen Elizabeth told the press, "It's very tidy," which must have been music to Catherine's ears. Next for her toughest critics.
Prince William: I think "mummy's done well." Prince George gave his mother a score of 20 out of 10, and Princess Charlotte exclaimed "ooolala," all high praise for a collaborative gardening project between Catherine's passion project on Child Development in the Early Years and The Chelsea Flower Show.

Ok, Cathy is reaching single white female levels of cosplay now. Let’s cast our minds back to the King’s first flower show when Cathy showed up unannounced and the press was given free reign to let her upstage his visit.

The rose isn’t just named for him, it was developed with The King’s Foundation so it would have been in the works for a long time. Then suddenly Cathy has a rose named after her and announced so relatively far in advance of the event. Definitely totally a coincidence 🙄
No wonder The King has no time for her. The tacky pr stunts probably remind him of Diana at her worst.
Have you seen any announcements if Cathy, patron saint of cancer and roses, will be going to the flower show? She’s got a film shoot in Scotland this week that we know of 🙄

Only a garden party and and the ship commissioning ceremony.
Can't work too hard before another week long vacation (this week), given that she's hardly done much of anything during the month of May to begin with!

Amanda Berry, Chief Executive of the Royal Foundation, has recently been appointed as their “global partnerships ambassador” on the request of The Prince and Princess of Wales.
According to a letter by the foundation’s chairman Simon Patterson to staff :
"This is a new role that has been introduced at the request of their royal highnesses to support development and delivery of their philanthropic vision … ensuring a joined-up approach to partnerships on an unprecedented scale.”

The Foundations: Letters Patent of 1917
The framework for today’s royal titles was significantly shaped by the Letters Patent issued by King George V in 1917.
This document was pivotal in redefining who in the royal family would be styled with “His or Her Royal Highness” (HRH) and as a prince or princess.
Specifically, the 1917 Letters Patent restricted these styles to:
The sons and daughters of a sovereign.
The male-line grandchildren of a sovereign.
The eldest living son of the eldest son of the Prince of Wales.
Extension by George VI in 1948
Understanding the implications of the existing rules as his family grew, King George VI issued a new Letters Patent in 1948 to extend the style of HRH and prince/princess to the children of the future queen, Princess Elizabeth (later Queen Elizabeth II).
This was crucial as, without this adjustment, Princess Elizabeth’s children would not automatically have become princes or princesses because they were not male-line grandchildren of the monarch.
This ensured that Charles and Anne were born with princely status, despite being the female-line grandchildren of a monarch.
The Modern Adjustments: Queen Elizabeth II’s 2012 Update
Queen Elizabeth II’s update to the royal titles in 2012 before the birth of Prince William’s children was another significant modification.
The Letters Patent of 2012 decreed that all the children of the eldest son of the Prince of Wales would hold the title of HRH and be styled as prince or princess, not just the eldest son.
This move was in anticipation of changes brought about by the Succession to the Crown Act of 2013, which ended the system of male primogeniture, ensuring that the firstborn child of the Prince of Wales, regardless of gender, would be the direct heir to the throne. Without this change, there could have been a situation where Prince William’s first child (and the heir to the throne) was a daughter who wasn’t a princess, whereas her eldest (but younger) brother would have been a prince.
Impact on Current Royals
Children of Princess Anne: When Anne married Captain Mark Phillips in 1973, he was offered an earldom but declined it. Consequently, their children, Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall, were not born with any titles. This decision reflects Princess Anne’s preference for her children to have a more private life, albeit still active within the royal fold.
Children of Prince Edward: Initially, Prince Edward’s children were styled as children of an earl, despite his being a son of the sovereign. Recently, his son James assumed the courtesy title Earl of Wessex, when Prince Edward was created the Duke of Edinburgh. His daughter, Lady Louise Windsor, continued to use the same style as she did before her father became duke – the style for the daughter of a duke being identical to that for the daughter of an earl.
Children of Prince Harry: When Archie and Lilibet were born, they were not entitled to princely status or HRH. They were great-grandchildren of the monarch and, despite the Queen’s adjustments in 2012, their cousins – George, Charlotte and Louis – were the only great-grandchildren of the monarch with those titles. When their grandfather became king, they became male-line grandchildren of a monarch and, hence, a prince and a princess. It took a while for those changes to be reflected on the royal family website. This presumably gave the royal household time to reflect on the effect of the children’s parents withdrawing from royal life and moving to the USA.
Special Titles: Prince of Wales and Princess Royal
Prince of Wales: Historically granted to the heir apparent, this title is not automatic and needs to be specifically bestowed by the monarch. Prince Charles was created Prince of Wales in 1958, though he had been the heir apparent since 1952. Prince William, on the other hand, received the title in 2022 – just a day after the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
Princess Royal: This title is reserved for the sovereign’s eldest daughter but is not automatically reassigned when the previous holder passes away or when a new eldest daughter is born. Queen Elizabeth II was never Princess Royal because her aunt, Princess Mary, held the title during her lifetime. Princess Anne currently holds this title, having received it in 1987.
The Fade of Titles: Distant Royals
As the royal family branches out, descendants become too distanced from the throne, removing their entitlement to HRH and princely status.
For example, the Duke of Gloucester, Duke of Kent, Prince Michael of Kent and Princess Alexandra all have princely status as male-line grandchildren of George V.
Their children are all great-grandchildren of a monarch and, therefore, do not all have royal styles or titles.
This reflects a natural trimming of the royal family tree, focusing the monarchy’s public role on those directly in line for succession.
As Character & Literary Tropes
"Princess Classic" Trope - General traits: Female; actual royalty, by birth or marriage, or Adopted into Royalty; she is innocence personified.
"Honorary Princess" Trope - Some ladies are princesses because they were born to a king and queen. Others are because they're married to a prince. Or maybe a sovereign adopted them. And then there is this girl (no matter if she has a wealthy way of life or not), who is called a princess because… Well, the reasons vary. Maybe she's self-proclaimed. Maybe she gained a throne.
"Royal Blood" Trope - Only the person who's really got it is suitable for the throne.
"Adopted into Royalty" Trope - Conventionally, being a King, Queen, Prince or Princess requires you to be born as one, Royal Blood is valuable after all, and as far as most monarchs are concerned, they have to make sure their bloodline keeps going if they want their kingdoms to last. But when you're this character, it's another story. Maybe you got a father who was lucky enough to marry a queen, maybe you reported and helped stop a coup attempt and the royal family saw adopting you as a way of thanking you, maybe you're already of some position and are adopted into the family as political fodder, or maybe you just befriended a prince and he liked you enough that he came to his father and begged him (if not outright demanded) you get adopted into the royal family so you and he could spend more time together. However it happened, you're suddenly now at the top of the food chain of society.
"Rags to Royalty" Trope - Cinderella Style: A commoner by birth, or with only minor ties to nobility. Nonetheless, through hard work, perseverance, and the help of some musical animals, she'll swoop into the ball and make the prince her husband. Snow White Style: Legitimately royalty, but forced into hiding to escape those who plot against her or because she cannot act as she needs to as long as she is seen as royal. Usually part of a Fish out of Water plot as she tries to hide her royalty and fake being a commoner. May have to prove birthright with bizarre tests or special trinkets only the legitimate Princess would have. Sleeping Beauty Style: Like the Snow White, she's royalty and forced into hiding for protection. Unlike the Snow White, she has no idea she has a Secret Legacy and is actually royalty. The Hard Way: Becoming royalty by going through such intermediate stages as "mercenary", "field commander", "warlord" and finally "conqueror," and most likely marrying a princess along the way, either becoming the ruler of the kingdom or The High Queen's consort. It never appeared in fairy tales, but is very common in heroic epics. Naturally, this is a predominantly male path.
"The High Queen" Trope - A woman of wealth, power, and near-impossible beauty. She always has a calm demeanor and regal bearing. This is what the Princess Classic wants to be when they grow up.
"The Empress" Trope - The female counterpart of The Emperor, historically, they outranked Kings, so when you need an authority figure to convey the highest possible power and rank, you can't get any higher than making them The Emperor/Empress (unless you go to The Pope, or into the otherworldly realms). An Empress is likely to be depicted more sympathetically than an Emperor. Less sympathetic female rulers are more often queens.
"The Usurper" Trope - Someone who becomes a ruler by intentionally taking out their rivals (usually via underhanded and illegal means).

Prince William, you've got mail!!!
PAPER STRAWS: "WORSE THAN USELESS. We all know paper straws are totally useless, but they also happen to be heavily contaminated with harmful PFAS "forever chemicals" according to a new study."
I didn't know my straws contain "harmful forever chemicals (PFAS)" that cause chronic illnesses.
I purchased these paper straws because they look fun, but after about 5 minutes they ruin my good beverage.

The Biden administration previously placed an emphasis on phasing out plastic straws throughout the federal government over the next decade, due to the straws, “littering our ocean, poisoning the air of communities near production facilities, and threatening public health.”
Similar to former President Biden, former Vice President Kamala Harris supports banning plastic straws: “We DO need to ban the plastic.”
President Donald Trump announced on Friday that he plans to sign an executive order to reverse the Biden administration’s plan to phase out plastic straws "Paper straws don't work." in the federal government by 2027.
The resurgence of plastic in straws is seen as a victory for Trump allies in the energy sector, as plastics are manufactured using oil and gas, a key sector of resurgence the Trump administration is focusing in on — revitalizing the American economy. Trump first blasted paper straws back in 2020 for “disintegrating” so quickly.

Maybe I am wrong, but I read is some articles that the Homewards charity isn’t receiving the money as donation but it was a pledge from the Bank to loan £50M to all those organizations under the umbrella of Homewards to obtain money that in other circumstances wouldn’t be considered suitable to obtain a loan. So, some of them will take some of money in order to build houses or another stuff related to support homelessness. But his fans and his PR are making it seem as if the bank gave him or to his charity the £50M.
But I honestly don’t know how this will be successful, for some reasons banks don’t loan money easily to people or organizations they don’t consider that can pay the money back to them 🤷🏻‍♀️. Or this is a great idea or it ends in a scandal with some organizations not having enough money to pay money back or some of them taking loans for their own pockets (lol, maybe Will should start raising money himself to help those organizations to pay the loans). Even if the bank will deliver many facilities, the charities themselves should be very careful with it.
I am also surprised that he only gave the initial £3M and isn’t thinking on giving more with his own Duchy money. See for now I don’t think he is making dirty with his money, but I do think is suspicious AF that he isn’t showing in which things he is spending his annual £23M if no huge money is being ‘donated’ to his own foundation (nor to Earthshot, Homewards or Centre of Early Childhood), nor they have delivered huge money to other charities they are patrons of. Or KP are that stupid to make us believe what we want, so we can say that his ‘down-to-the-earth’ lifestyle per year is costing him $23M? Is he wasting so much money in his new sweaters or what? If I remember well, KC when he was PoW, he donated much of that money at least to his own charities, but in this case not even his own charities are receiving it.

I didn't have the time (or a stable internet connection) when I posted earlier, but now having read some articles about it, the private equity guy's influence is still strong. I don't really get what Lloyds Banking Group is really going to be doing for charity. There's no mention of a special rate or discount, just loans.
The bank will work with charity Homewards to help small and medium-sized organisations deliver more homes across the six locations where the project is in operation. These include Aberdeen, Sheffield, Lambeth, Newport, Northern Ireland, and Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole. The bank will also continue to deliver support to housing in Liverpool and become a ‘Homewards Activator’ – a business that provides funding, skills and expertise. Organisations can use the financing to “build, develop or refurbish homes, some of which will be for people with additional needs and support”, Lloyds said. Lloyds and Homewards said they want to show how barriers to accessing finance can be overcome.
[...] Through the partnership, Lloyds said not-for-profit organisations and financial institutions will be brought together to create “a clear pathway to provide financial support”. New lending will be combined with expertise across the six locations to make the organisations “investment ready”.
You're right. This does look like a future scandal. I don't see anything particularly charitable about this, even though it's being portrayed as a big win. William's private equity guy is the person who brought this about.
And there is William smiling about it.
When I was reading the article I linked above, I was wondering if there was a Habitat for Humanity in the UK. Sure enough, there is: Habitat for Humanity GB. They have a program where they are working to turn empty commercial spaces into homes. Seems like the kind of thing that William's Homewards should be partnering with, instead of a bank to lend money. Choices, choices....
How hard is William working to end homelessness when he's not working with a world-famous housing charity? I guess his ego is too big for working with them.
William's hypocrisy about money is amazing. He's such a crazy, control freak that he can't let anyone know how much money in taxes he says he pays, but if the KP comms team says William is down to earth multiple times, then it must be true. They wouldn't lie to us, would they?
