you and taph are definitely the best at playing charades,, you’re both really skilled at using gestures and subtle signs to get your points across, so your conversations actually flow pretty smoothly without needing to speak a single word!! you eventually developed your own code, & the best part about it is no one else being able to understand what you’re saying…. which meant you could privately gossip about the other survivors without anyone catching on! big win for taph’s many complaints...

and that secret code really does come in handy during damnations too! if the killer is close by and you have to keep completely silent, it just might help you see another day. you two actually depend on each other quite a bit since you’re deaf. you’ve technically ‘trained’ yourself to notice the tiniest of details, because visual cues are... kind of all you’ve got really. so whenever you notice something like a footprint in the mud or a scuff on a tree from a missed hit, you quickly signal to taph to let him know the killer’s nearby, be wary!

that kind of trust really goes a long, long way. taph genuinely cares about you more than anyone else, keeping an eye on you and ensuring your safety whenever things start to go bad. he’s a fiercely protective kind of guy, which shows in the way he’ll shield you when danger is near and refuse to leave you behind, no matter what.

taph actually has a little habit of gently squeezing your hand a certain number of times as part of your personal code. three squeezes means “are you okay,” two means “yes,” and one means “no.” he also does it outside of the rounds as well when you’re sitting peacefully by the campfire, or even if you’re just having a quiet moment at the dining table. whenever taph’s holding your hand, he always asks, just to make sure you’re doing okay.

i ALWAYS have pluke. theyre my absolute favorite pairing. any future christmas present givers: pluke. pluke. my love.

- Pluto freaks out any time Duke is semi late to anything. He worries that something else happened to him. He remembers how tired he looked when they saw him out of his spectre after getting out of the wall. He was even catching a cold. Pluto gets red with anger every time he thinks of it.

- Duke jokingly asks him if he wants to put him on a leash to make sure he can’t go anywhere. Pluto then proceeds to get uncomfortable because neck trauma. Awkward silence.

- It actually takes Pluto a while to be okay with Duke touching his neck at all. Even a slight brush of the fingertips made him tense up. But they get there.

- Pluto uses the power of reading to figure out what ‘mon minou’ finally means. He is completely embarrassed and desperate for revenge. So using a dictionary, he creates his own sentence in French to fire back at Duke as payback. Something really ridiculous like ‘You’re more magical than any of your tricks’. He butchers the pronunciation and flubs his words, but it still gets a blush out of Duke before a lot of laughter. Like a lot.

- Pluto hasn’t liked red. Ever since he lost his eye, he hasn't been able to stand the blood red color. It overwhelmed his vision through blurry tears. But after spending so much time around Duke, the color has become one of comfort. His eyes are a deep wine red. Eye contact with Duke makes his stomach flutter in a nervous, but not terrible way. The deep red becomes something that makes him feel wanted instead of despised. - Pluto tries to style Duke's hair once. He tries to do it the way he usually does, but it ends up very uneven on both sides. Duke leaves it that way and it gets a good laugh out of the others. - Duke sweats so much in his sleep. Because not only is he under the covers, but Pluto is wrapped around him like a second blanket. - The beds get closer together every night. Mainly because just one isn't big enough for them both with Duke's height.

Noob He was a bit curious about you when you first showed up. His attention was quick to float to your ears. Though he wouldn't dare ask to pet them. He figured it would probably be well...not ideal. To be honest, he was a bit shy to talk to you, not that you were scary or even that he fell in love at first sight, he just isn't used to meeting new people after enduring the Spectres "Game" for so long. He feels like he lost his ability to communicate with more people outside of the other survivors.

Your first true "meeting" may be the first round you started in, the abilities you seemed to have were more supportive. Being able to heal them and stunning the enemy. It was all very helpful and he experienced it first hand when you were quick to his rescue, healing him before stunning the killer to let him get away. Despite your short time here you were able to get the hand of your abilities.

He doesn't mind your seemingly act differently, I feel he'd catch on it's usually based on what's happening. He'd ask once or twice about how you truly act underneath everything but is completely understanding if you don't want to. He wants you to be comfortable as he knows the circumstances right now are...less than ideal. He's patient with you, especially when he finds out you don't easily get along with humans as you came from somewhere else. He'll give you time though he tries to get you to be more comfortable as who knows how long it'll take before you can escape?

Guest 1337 A bit on edge, not that he thinks you're a killer, there's a reason why the Spectre put you with them after all, but you don't seem to get along with most of the survivors, not only that but how you act seems different sometimes, he does notice it'll change depending on the situation and/or who you're talking too but he wants to know the true you. He won't pry if you don't want him too but he'll keep an eye on you just encase.

Your abilities in rounds is incredibly useful, if or when the two of you ever team up to help another survivor both of your stuns help them get away, and being able to heal him and others is always a plus. As time goes on and you slowly seem to get more and more along with others, the more rounds the two of you spend with each other the more he lowers his guard around you. The less on edge he is with you.

He wants to build trust with all the survivors, and as cheesy as it may be, if they ever want to escape, teamwork will be their best option which is why he was a bit cautious when he noticed your initial attitude to the others and how differently you acted, it seemed as though you didn't trust them yet either, but with how long you've been here he's figured that's changed.

Chance Didn't meet you until the start of the new round, he'd racked up a high stack weakness and was sure he was a goner, the killer hot on his trail until you showed up quickly stunning the enemy. Grabbing his hand and running off before the stun cooldown was over. You had brought him over to Elliot and with 2 healers now on his side he was able to gain back the HP he had lost.

He finds you quite amazing, tries chatting with you outside of rounds, asking about you. He did notice your hesitation which he later found out was because you weren't from Robloxia. That didn't stop him from trying to talk to you, you were stuck with them after all. Besides, seeing you help them and other survivors in rounds? You're not a bad person, you just need time.

If or when you two become closer friends they promise you that if or when you escape he'll take you to his favourite places. If this was your first time on Earth, then that's not a good impression. He'll show you how it's really like if you'd let him.

Two Time They're so excited to meet you, it's been awhile since they had a new survivor with them. They're quick to try and tell you about the Spawn but can't continue as the round starts. They'll make sure to inform you when you're out.

You two make a good team they reckon, your stuns allow them to preform back stabs better. As long as they stick by your side they'll be able to land each one and they can't help but thank you each time. Expect them to follow you around if they know a killer is near, it'll benefit the both of you they promise!!

They don't mind how you seem to switch up how you act, they can quickly see it's just you adapting to what's happening and honestly? They kind admire that, plus you're listening to them whenever they ramble. Whether or not if it's even about the Spawn so you're good in their books for now. They'll be honoured if you showed your true colours to them.

007n7 "Not another one..." was all he thought when you came into the cabin, he's not annoyed by your presence, far from it. He almost feels calmer when you're around but his annoyance is directed at the very thing making them do these games. There didn't need to be another survivor, there wasn't a need to bring someone into this damn hell again. He pushes that aside and helps you settle in the best he can.

He does his best to explain everything to you, and he isn't fazed by how you act, he's patient with you as you learn to be more comfortable around them. He knows it's hard to settle in and he'd hate if the other survivors disliked you in anyway, he truly hopes what he does is helping you.

Before rounds, he lets you know that one of his kids is a killer. Calmly explaining why, he figured the more you knew about the killers the better, perhaps you can help plan strategies so no more deaths happen. If the killer is C00lkid he'll try to draw his attention away from you if you're on low health. He'll be in danger sure but it'll be better to have healers live, plus he has get a ways.

Elliot Oh he could cry tears of joy. Finally another healer. He didn't need to be the only one to hear the barks of others as they run low on HP and scrambles to find them. Another healer also means you'll be able to heal each other if neither of you can find a medkit or one of Buildermans machines. He works with you during rounds, as soon as he sees you loose health he's quick to throw you a pizza if he can.

Outside of rounds though he's still kind but finding out you dislike humans due to not being from Earth he decides to back off a bit. He'd rather not make you feel uncomfortable, especially since he may be relying on you for heals. He does not want a bad relationship with you and you not healing him. Not that you would probably but he's just making sure.

If you help out in the kitchen when he cooks food for the other survivors in-between rounds he'll be grateful, you'll be one of the people he trusts the most even if it takes you a bit longer to do the same. He'll never pry when he notices how differently you act depending on what happens, unless it seems to be negatively affecting other people.

Taph He shows you their traps first, yes quite the introduction to someone but he doesn't want you to be surprised when he uses them or if you see it. He writes on paper and hands it over unsure if you really knew sign but this would be the best way. He explains what his things can do and apologies for the loud sounds his bombs will create. Sure the blast somehow doesn't affect the other survivors, but you have big ears!! You'll hear the explosion better than anyone if you're near (unless your the killer setting it off but it'll still be loud!), he doesn't want to hurt your ears but he can't help the sound of the bombs.

If you're willing he's happy to teach you sign so the two of you can communicate better, probably the quickest to notice how well you adapt how you act depending on the situation and it can help. You were able to calm down Noob once when it was just yourself and him at low HP when in the previous round you were actively looking for Elliot so he could heal you. He does recommend to let down any walls you have with them when you're ready. You're not alone, you're in this together.

Builderman I feel like he knows who you are already, or at the very least knows you're not from Robloxia. Likely because of well...of his position, similar to Taph he tells you how his abilities work alongside others. He doesn't want you to go head in and be confused by everything you're doing and what others are doing. He even gives you tips on how to survive. Pick up bloxy colas, medkits. The killers have a theme when they're near so keep an ear out but he figured you'll probably won't have a problem with that being a rabbit hyrbid.

He's so thankful when you stun a killer as he's putting up another machine, he can't stop himself once he starts building leaving him vulnerable to attacks so having you save him and multiple occasions makes him smile. He doesn't care for how quickly you adapt how you act depending, not that he isn't aware or things like that but he isn't going to question it. That's how you are after all.

Shedlesky He's happy to have another one honestly, not in the sense that he enjoys the games he's playing (plus one of the killers has a personal vendetta against him so...) but god has he been deprived of all other human interaction...well okay you said you weren't a human (which he did know, similar reason to Builderman) and you were a moon rabbit of sorts but honestly? You're able to have a conversation with him right? It's a new face he's content with that.

Has once tried to get you, Guest 1337 and Two Time to all well...bully the killer with constant stuns, it worked the first few times (Mainly as the each round had a different killer) but they eventually caught on. It was fun while it lasted. If you apologise for seeming like you dislike them he'll understand, he found out you weren't even from their planet so it makes sense to him, he figured it would be hard to fully adapt to them anyways AND their situation.

Dusekkar He calls out how you act towards them and how quickly you adapt in situations as soon as he can. Okay he doesn't call it out but he's quick to realise and question it in private. Not that it was a bad thing, many people change how they act depending on their friends and what's happening, plus you weren't from here. He understands but he still wants a small conversation about it. He doesn't stop you if you continue acting that way but subtly recommend that they mean no harm and outside of rounds you can act like yourself. No one will judge, and if someone does? Well he'll scold them don't worry.

Just like Builderman and Shedlesky he knew rather quickly you weren't from Robloxia but he doesn't care, though it does make him think about how willing the Spectre is to take people not even from their planets. Could they take others from different universes too? What fun do they got out of this. He doesn't let the thoughts fester too much, focusing on making sure you're settling in well.

Thanks for the fic recommendation - I've popped it on my list because I love SinHal too (I love a lot of Hal ships, because he's such an intriguing character).

The Star Sapphire idea is interesting! Yes, Hal seems like the kind of person who would hide his feelings if it would mean his friends/loved ones were safe and happy.

Hal's heart might start skipping beats or beating more rapidly when around Clark for a while after he finds out about the soulmate link, which alerts Clark. Whilst Hal manages to settle it once his resolution is made to keep it a secret, Clark still checks on his heartbeat every now and again for abnormalities.

To me, they just have this special bond, being two very powerful people and understanding each other's struggles/burdens. Also, Clark is an alien on Earth, whilst Hal is a human in space, and I bet they could have some very interesting discussions about that.

Hmm Hal’s heartrate picking up + him being scared that Clark might find out about the soulmate thing might make some sort of misunderstanding where Clark thinks that Hal, the man born without fear, has become afraid of Superman somehow…and it all started after Hal came back from a GLC mission. I could see Clark possibly concluding that Hal found out something really bad about Kryptonians while in space and then also angsting that one of the few people who isn’t scared of him at all is now afraid of him. Idk, could be smth.

Yessss that bond where they’re the two most powerful men on Earth and the responsibility that comes with that…ugh they’re so underrated, DC WHEN I CATCH U DC !! I’ve been playing around with a clarkhal fic idea while Hal is in his Spectre era because in JLA/Spectre: Soul War, Hal has some very queer things to say about Clark. Not sure yet what the actual plot or conflict might be tho, other than maybe sliding Bruce into the “best friend of the LI who hates MC” (which would be very easy to do based on his hatred for post-Parallax Hal but that I personally wouldn’t want to do because that’s SAD).

In protectors of concord dawn, when Kanan sees Rau about to escape and then fucking GETS him. Absolute overkill style. Child of the clone war Jedi style. Like you just see the 'I can't believe I'm doing this' in his eyes and then he sure does.

Also him fighting the Grand Inquisitor in fire across the galaxy. Probably my favorite lightsaber duel in all star wars tbh. And the SCORE OUHGGHG

When she calls out Gall Traviss and comforts Ezra. Its a great moment that showcases her experience and intelligence not just as a pilot and leader but as just a rebel. and her protecting Ezra is oughgg.

Spiny Leaf Insect - Extatosoma tiaratum

It's been many years since I've laid my eyes on one of these magnificent creatures, and even longer since my days at U of T where I held one in my hand. As such, it was gratifying to see so many individuals on display at the Toronto Zoo and to soak in all their details and movements (mostly wobbles and slow, methodical steps) while observing them. With many female individuals, and a few different instars among them, I should have taken a video, but there was lots of excited screaming in the background from children happy to see the otters and reptiles. As much as I love animals, this blog is all about the insects, and so today we have pictures of these Giant Prickly Stick Insects. Today, they are known by many names such as Australian Walking Sticks, Spiny Leaf Insects, Macleay’s Spectres (named for British entomologist William Macleay and referencing their order Phasmatodea, whose name is derived from apparitions or more commonly, ghosts) or E. tiaratum. You can call them many names, just don't call them "Leaf Insects" as those are a different branch of Phasmid, of the family Phylliidae. Amazing as that family is are, these large armored insects also have a certain special quality to them. Maybe it's just how large and unusual they are compared to our fauna, but I certainly think that they're eye-catching when they can actually be found and observed. In the wild, finding them could be more difficult since their mottled, spiked, dried-in-appearance leafy armor is meant to hide them from their predators.

These peaceful, plant-eating giants need every advantage they can secure since they aren't aggressive and are burdened with slow movement due to their armor. In most cases, if anything gets close, their "scorpion" posture combined with a mild chemical defense and their sharp spines may be just enough. But what if you're a thinner, more agile male? If you've been observant, there is one such darker individual in the background of Picture 1! They're quite different in appearance from females, being much smaller and they are also quite rare! Moreover, a mild reliance on using parthenogenesis to reproduce and lay eggs, they can become even rarer! The thin male has functioning wings and can use them when in danger by either flying away or flashing them to a predator, startling them. Naturally, wings also allow for a wider dispersal and an expansion to the search for fertile females. In an environment within captivity, the presence of a male may be likely to discourage parthenogenesis and in fertilized eggs that will hatch earlier after females drop them to the soil floor. There were no eggs to be found, so if you plan to visit and search for them, look for brown and white, seed-like objects fitted with a capsule-like projection (capitulum). They are likely to be removed and stored, as the eggs of E. tiaratum are reported to need cooler conditions to successfully hatch. Their terrarium may simulate a warm, tropical environment too well in that case. In the wild, Ants fulfill this condition, bringing the "seeds" underground into their cooler subterranean food stockpile.

2025 music so far, pt 3

Listened to 8 more new albums, so I'm up to 20 for the year now.

Cowards by Squid sounds like something I should like, but I don't remember it, and that was only 3 weeks ago when I listened.

Violet by L.S. Dunes I remember liking, I saved 3 of its songs to my current playlist, including the title track, but I always seem to skip them when they come on shuffle.

$ome $exy $ongs 4 U by PARTYNEXTDOOR & Drake I enjoyed, but in the last couple weeks, I've only really gone back to "Nokia." And it's one of my favorite songs of the year so far. Drake is weird musician for me, he's got seemingly a thousand songs, most I don't like at all, but he's got like 6 or 8 I really like, so add this one to the list. I know this is the time of year we are all supposed to be fawning over Kendrick Lamar. And I saw a persuasive video explaining his side, about authenticity and LA and Compton and 2Pac and community, and I sort of concede Kendrick is correct. But his music isn't really for me, and I actually like those 7 or 9 Drake songs.

Heard Noises by Matt Berry I don't know what to make of. I liked "Canada Dry." I think this music is a throwback to the '60s maybe? Maybe I need to listen to it again.

Saint Motel & the Symphony in the Sky by Saint Motel I liked when I heard it the first time. I remember grooving. It was cool. I was like, who are these guys to put their band name into the name of their album? They seem to be prolific but I've never heard of them. I thought I often think, I am into music more than most people I know, but there's so much music I don't know. I only have such a short time on this planet to explore more of it. As I write this, I really haven't listened again. I'm listening to "Get It At Home" again because I remember liking it. I need to listen to this again too, maybe a double feature with Matt Berry, it'd only take an hour and a half, maybe while I'm working on a creative task at work this week.

Ghostholding by venturing I was blown away by the opening track, "Play My Guitar." But not in the way of a standalone song, more of the feel that it was the start of a whole vibe, like I'd have to love the entire album after hearing it. I listened to it walking around a soccer field during my younger son's tournament. I want to take a walk by myself around a some city and listen to this again and pretend it's the '90s.

Blindness by The Murder Capital I was so disappointed because I loved their last album so much. Two years later I'm still listening to that one. Maybe I'll find something to do that will take me just over 2 hours, the combined length of all 3 of their albums and listen to them all in a row. Maybe that will get me to enjoy this new one. Maybe a hike or a drive.

Constellations For The Lonely by Doves what can I say about Doves? I loved their 2002 second album so much. And their 1st and 3rd albums are good too. But that 2nd album, it is so good. Put "Catch the Sun" from their first album with the entirety of their 2nd album, that's like the peak of music for me. I was just out of college, didn't know much about life, listened to Doves over and over, should have listened to more closely the lyrics and acted upon them. I will listen to anything they put out. And this new album isn't too bad.

Any of these with a chance to make my favorite 5 or 10 of the year? I don't know, maybe all, maybe none. I think I've been too busy or preoccupied lately, I need to listen to all of these again to adequately assess. But they are all exist under the spectre of Hadestown, 2 hours of genius that I was introduced to 2 weeks ago, and is currently dominating the empty spaces after I do my album per day thing.

❀;; --- There was nothing but pain. XANA's attacks had always been dangerous, but this spectre? It was almost beyond what she'd ever gone up against face to face. It had nearly killed her. In fact, her injuries could still easily kill her.

There was no doubt about it, XANA was getting even stronger than he had ever been. And Yumi had the bruises and other gaping wounds to prove it.

She didn't have her phone any longer, the spectre had successfully destroyed it under his feet as he swung a metal pipe at Yumi. And again. And again. So, how was she going to get ahold of the others, she had no idea.

Yumi could barely walk let alone walk from the deepest part of the forest to the sewer entrance. The girl tripped and stumbled many times, each time almost resulted in her face planting into the ground. The girl knew that once that happened, she may not be able to get up again.

Footsteps. Yumi froze. Was the spectre coming for her? If the others had been on Lyoko, Yumi had no idea. As such, she had no idea if the tower had been deactivated either.

She didn't dare speak, barely dared to breathe. All she could do was listen and pray to whatever god was listening that it wasn't XANA coming to finish her off.

So the moment brown hair came through the bushes Yumi nearly cried.

Ulrich.

She heard him shout her name. She could barely take a couple of steps toward him. Thankfully he was running toward her. One more step and she collapsed into his arms.

"U-Ulrich?!" She gasped as his hands grazed on a particularly nasty would on her side. "It's...it's XANA! He..sent...a spectre! Some guy in a suite. I...I think he's still coming after me!"

It's fine I was so exhausted yesterday when I got home that slept most the day. (It feels like Tuesday was just Extra Long with how stressful the last three days have been. Also sorry for the late respond had to get a new charger for my laptop cause too much to type on phone.)

Hal is def on first name basis with Danny and totally honary uncle of Team Phantom. Possibly due to Danny accidently mistaking him for a ghost thanks to Hal feeling Ghostly after the whole Spectre thing, which leads Hal to learning he is a little ghosty or rather HIghly Liminal. Totally see Danny accidently sucking him up in the Thermos cause Danny was sleep deprived to due to college finals during his first year of college after first moving to Coast City (It has a great Aerospace and Engineering program. I always see that being the reason he goes to Gotham U but it felt like it made more sense for Coast City University to have it due to Ferris Aircraft being in Coast City) Hal totally ends up geeking out with Danny over space and jets after seeing some of Danny's diagrams for class. (Can you tell im a GL fan?)

It's mainly either the wildest and most concerning tweets or silly things) Such as Nova posting a pic of Hal happily nerding out over a diagram in Danny's apartment with the captian "Nerd (affectionate)" and replying to the replies wondering who Hal is with "Hes my neighbor and honary uncle after i threw my thermos at him while half asleep"

Danny meets Superboy cause he literaly ends up catching Kon when he falls out of the air due to kyrptonite during one of Lex's attacks in Metropolis. Nova smirks at the super in their arms and winks "Didn't know you would fall for me so fast, Super Cutie."

There’s a voice in your head screaming at you to not do it. Yet as another knock sounds at the door, your feet carry you involuntarily. You know who it is, there’s no need to peep through the keyhole but you can’t resist it. You can’t resist taking this one glimpse at him before he’s inevitably going to break your heart again. 

‘Hi,’ you greet as you open to door. ‘Come in.’

This has become routine at this point—Damiano texts “U up?”. You tell yourself to ignore the message, to blow him off with some excuse, yet every single time you cave just as the second text comes in. 

‘Hey, baby,’ he greets in return, presses a rough kiss on your mouth. 

You used to dream of these kisses, dream of his mouth on every single inch of your body. You even imagined the gentleness of them once. But whatever this is—being fuck buddies, friends with benefits, whatever you want to call it—this has slowly sucked the life out of those dreams. 

Yet you can’t stop going back to him. 

‘You’re thinking about something,’ he frowns and for a moment his voice is laced with genuine concern. ‘Are you not in the mood? You know we can always reschedule this,’ he points between the two of you. 

A hysterical laugh bubbles up in your chest and you have to actually turn around to get a hold of yourself. Reschedule this as if it’s just another appointment; clinical and unavoidable. 

‘No no,’ you smile at him and hope he doesn’t notice your dead eyes. ‘Work has been a bit stressful lately, that’s all.’ 

It’s an easy lie and you know he’ll never question it. He hardly knows what you do for work, there’s a one-in-a-million chance he’ll actually want to know what’s stressing you out at your job. 

‘Well then,’ he grins, ‘you know what’s good for stress.’

And that’s how it starts this time. He trails kisses down your neck, makes his way down to your cleavage and tries to leave a few hickeys there. You close your eyes and imagine a different reality—one where he mumbles I love you after each kiss, one where he tells you how obsessed he is with you, how he can’t keep his hands off you. One where he’s so gentle with you that you might as well be made of glass. 

But that’s not what this is. Damiano has always been very clear about what this is. 

You’ve got the motions of this memorised. You take each other’s clothes off; leave a trail of them to the bedroom. Despite the maelstrom of thoughts in your head, your body betrays you again and again. It always reacts to his touch, always craves more of him. It wants him never to let go.

But there’s always a ghost in the room; the spectre that is “the other woman”. He thinks you’re unaware of her but lately, it seems you’ve spent more time thinking about her than you’ve thinking about him. He longs for her, you long for him and yet you can’t let go.

Is she the other woman? A voice chides in your head and you fake a moan to cover up the gasp. 

Even when he’s buried inside you, you know you’re not the one he’s thinking about. You’re never the one he’s thinking about; it’s always her, it’s always been her. But he can’t get her, so his consolation prize is you. 

Even when his face is tucked in the crook of your neck, it’s her body he’s dreaming of. Only a fool wouldn’t notice how her name is always on the tip of his tongue, just fighting to get out. 

‘Dami?’ you ask once you lay side-by-side, panting and catching your breath, ‘will you stay the night?’

His eyes widen a bit and then he laughs awkwardly. ‘You know I can’t, baby. I’ve got, uh…Thomas wants to show me something.’

‘Of course,’ you smile. 

It’s always Thomas or Ethan or Vic, it’s never you though. He makes a move to get out of bed and suddenly you’re hit with a barrel of conflicting feelings. 

You want him gone. You want to beg him to stay. You never want to see him ever again. You want to wake up next to him every day. 

As he starts to get dressed, you grab the robe that’s hanging on the bedpost. This is the part you dread the most—the aftermath. You try not to seem too eager for him to get out. If he lingers even just a little…

‘That was fun,’ he smiles and you can already feel the awkwardness radiating off of him. None of you knows how to say goodbye yet your reasons for it could not be more different from each other. You hold the door open for him, smile a tight-lipped smile, go along with the motions when he gives you a goodbye kiss. 

He takes two steps towards the lift, then stops and turns around abruptly. This is it, you think, he’s reconsidered. He wants to stay. 

‘Can I see you again tomorrow?’ he asks and your heart dies a gruesome death for the millionth time. 

Just set me free, you want to scream at him, why won’t you just set me free? Instead, you nod and force a smile. 

‘Tomorrow works for me.’

When Eddie got dragged through hell, killed by demon bats, and then resurrected by Steve Harrington’s CPR skills, he never expected anything to come of it. It was supposed to be one of those experiences, a deeply traumatic experience, that he would live through and then hope to forget about it.

But it didn’t happen that way. He got friends out of it.

He got Nancy Wheeler appearing at his trailer at 6pm sharp every night to tutor him. He got Robin Buckley and her quiet solidarity. He got Jonathan Byers trading tapes with him accepting that Metallica were pretty great, but “The Clash are too!”. He got Argyle, whose last name he didn’t even know, that was always down to share his weed and cuddle.

And he got Steve Harrington.

Steve Harrington who filled every other gap in Eddie’s life.

All that is to say, Eddie probably should have expected to see his friends cheering his name from a booth near the back of the Hideout as he stepped out onto stage. It shouldn’t have thrown him off. He shouldn’t have been surprised that his band mates were smirking conspiratorially with one another.

He stumbled his way through the set with less grace than usual. It was mostly covers from a pre-approved list that they were given when they booked the gig, but for their service, Corroded Coffin got to play two original songs.

Eddie resolutely didn’t think about how they only got that privilege after news of his murder allegations spread beyond the Hawkins boarders.

“Eddie!” Robin waved at him from the front of the stage, bouncing on her toes. Steve stood next to her and the others were all still at the table they’d commandeered. “Come here!”

He glanced towards his band mates, he’d feel shitty if he left them to pack up without him. They all rolled their eyes in sync and waved him off.

Eddie shared fist bumps with them all and tossed his van keys to Gareth. As the only one with a vehicle large enough to drive all their kit around, he was always the designated driver. Though nights like tonight made him wish he wasn’t.

“Hey!” Eddie said as he crouched at the edge of the stage. It wasn’t raised as high as real stages in real venues, but it gave him enough of a lift that he could swing his legs off the side to sit on the edge and have his feet not touch the floor.

“Why didn’t you tell me you guys were coming?”

“We wanted it to be a surprise,” Steve said. “Are you surprised?”

“Oh, for sure, pretty boy.” Eddie mentally socked himself in the jaw for the pet name but smoothly continued on. “What did you think?”

Steve shifted his weight so he could lean against the stage. He had to tilt his neck back slightly more to look at Eddie, showing the long slope of his neck and the freckle Eddie always finds himself wanting to nibble on whenever he catches sight of it.

He dug his fingernails into his thigh to stop himself reaching out to touch. The last thing he needed was to be distracted by thoughts of his hands on Steve’s neck.

“I think you were great!”

“Oh, Stevie!” Eddie laughed, pulling hair in front of his face. “You’re making me blush! Keep going.”

Steve playfully rolled his eyes with a fake put-upon sigh. “If you insist—“

“I do.”

“I don’t, like, get your music, but you looked, I don’t know, happy? And that made me enjoy it, you know?” Steve ducked his head away from Eddie’s gaze. “It mostly sounded like noise but seeing you enjoy it was fun. It’s like you were made to be on stage.”

“You really think so?” Eddie asked. He really needed to stop being shocked about anything to do with Steve Harrington; first they were friends, now he was validating the greatest love of Eddie’s life?

“I do!” Steve wrinkled his nose when he thought hard about something and his eyes narrowed. “I can’t explain it but, you know how people always say Freddie Mercury or David Bowie were born to be on stage? Born to be performers?”

He waited until Eddie nodded before continuing. “I mean I’ve only seen them on MTV but you’re in the same category as them for me.”

Eddie bit his lip to stop himself from grinning too much. “You‘ve gotta stop, Stevie, or I can’t be responsible for what I do.”

Steve laughed. “All the more reason to keep going then, right?”

Eddie eyed him for a moment. He always got the sense that Steve was trying to say more than he let on. Part of it might have been wishful thinking, but even Eddie’s overactive imagination couldn’t conjure up Steve having the same feelings he did, it was just too far fetched.

“What would you do if I kept going?”

Eddie dropped his head closer to Steve’s, he could feel the heat off his skin and smell the musky cologne Steve always wore; it was almost enough for Eddie to get lost in. He took a second to let his eyes glance around the room, to make sure they weren’t being watched.

“I’d have to kiss you,” he confessed, pulling back quickly so he could gauge Steve’s expression.

Steve’s eyebrows twitched upwards and his lips parted slightly, but he didn’t look like he was about to punch Eddie in the face, so he considered it a win.

“Oh,” Steve breathed. “In that case, we should go somewhere else because I have so much more to say.”

Eddie gaped at him.

He really really had to stop being shocked about Steve Harrington.

So in this AU Hornet is about 5 years younger than PV and 100% knows about their double life and helps them sneak around. She's also the one who helped them realise they might be catching feelings because you bet your ass PV is one oblivious fucker (got it after their daddy <3).

She's also very involved in her niblings' lives. She's the cool aunt and teaches them cuss words. She also 100% cried when she learned her niece was named after her. She's also the one who made their little coats for them.

As for the age difference, it honestly depends? I like to make a lot of different versions of same AU and also put my ovs in different AUs, where the timeline might be slightly different. But she's generally 15-23 years older than Spectre and Sting, and 20-28 years older than Tally.
