ok since the overall response was positive i'm gonna tell you a bit about this project!
this is a series of jokey mini-comics detailing the (after) lives of a band of ghosts who are stuck in an abandoned summer camp near omsk location pending in 2005. this is basically bbc ghosts but russian and with more gore.
katya is the only one who's alive! she's 15 and started seing ghosts after her shitty boyfriend crashed his bike with her in the back seat. she's trying to help the ghosts mediate their relationships with eachother and the world, and they're helping her with homework (sometimes) or being general nuisances (more often).
the pilot died in 1944 when his plane crashed while he was test-flying it. he was wounded in the frontlines and sent home to recover, but decided to help out in the poiloting school in the meantime. the guy on whose watch the plane crashed was shot for sabotage afterwards, and his ghost in turn is pretty resentful about that, because it was just the lack of funds and old equipment going out. plot: katya helping them meet and make peace with eachothers deaths. the pilot had a daughter himself and thus is feeling very paternal towards katya. most organised and helpful of the ghosts. died with one broken cigarette whick they all now share and an officers notepad with his papers and maps, where he sketches from time to time (it all disappears after he stops concentrating 😔) has ideological beef with the suit and ex-beef with the sailor (they are besties now).
the sailor died in 1921 during the kronstadt rebellion and was very surprised when he woke up near omsk. he had a precious cigar case that was lost a year before his death, and in the chaos of th civil war found itself in a magpie's nest in the woods near omsk. his soul is tied to this case, and he spends a lot of time trying to get to the case and taunting the magpie family (unsuccessfully). has a tin of cocaine, 4 machine gun belts, no machine gun and an attitude. loves asking katya to marry him and run away to saint-petersburg together. plot: katya finally getting him his cig case back. obsessed with space and in love with yuri gagarin, wants to find and meet his ghost
the suit died in 1997 during a buisness deal gone wrong, shot and buried on the abandoned camp territory, is still a bit pissed about that. is disgusted by the starry-eyed belief in the happines of all mankind the pilot and the sailor exibit and in general is tormented by the fact tht he will have to spend his afterlife in a summer camp surrounded by these people. loves to come harass the monk living in the lake nearby to get some sort of ideological closure and figure out how afterlife works. plot: getting katya the money to move to another sity when she goes to uni
the bomber died in 1896. tried to sicide bomb a govt official but was discovered and sentenced to death, later pardoned bc of Nicholas 2 acending to the throne, sentence switched to siberian exile for 25 years with no rights to return. killed herself out of boredom and despair. gets along well with the sailor (he is slightly intimidated by her), would really like to talk to the monk but he doesn't answer to anyone. plot: idk so far 😔
the bear victims - a lego of bear victim parts. that's it. a comedic side character.
the monk died alone on an island in the lake in ????, the island was later blown up to increase the water capacity flowing from the lake to a water reservoir. doesn't talk to any of the other characters bc of his seraphimic schema and vow of silence & solitude. slowly warming to the idea of breaking his vow and trying to help the other ghosts move on, because if god's not letting him go, that must be for a reason, right? plot: speaking to katya

Random question to stay out of the loop:
What song have you been listening to on repeat lately ?
I'm definitely the kind of person who needs to have one specific song on loop the entire time I'm working in order to be efficient—especially when I have to focus. It's also very connected to ADHD: I put on a song in the background with noise-canceling headphones, and that one song has to repeat over and over and over again. It's like a way for me to stay semi-focused, like a background noise that stays the same and loops, and that helps me follow that same loop with relevant tasks. Each season has its own song, and each task has a different one. For example, one for filling out paperwork, another for reading rulings, another for some random bureaucratic stuff I get asked to do at work… They change depending on the season and my mood.
But right now, the songs I have to put on non-stop, like all the time, are:
"Flaca" – Andrés Calamaro, which is a classic of Spanish-language music from the '90s that pretty much anyone who speaks spanish knows. I use this one when I have to fill out paperwork and send it off, because it’s really soft and smooth.
"Don!" – by the Argentine band Miranda! (also, fun fact: Calamaro is Argentine too, I don’t know if that’s my subconscious at work or just pure coincidence, who knows). But not the original version, I mean the one they did with CA7RIEL, though I love both versions. I use this one for sending emails because it has this bam bam bam sound and I shoot off replies like a bullet.
Then there’s Hiroko Yakushimaru – Sailor Fuku to Kikanjuu, which is an absolute banger from 1980s Japan (because I’m a total city pop fangirl, you’d fall off your chair). I actually found it because I’m super into film and there’s this movie called Sailor Suit and Machine Gun, a kind of cult yakuza film, very trashy, which I love. But the song is amazing, like seriously incredible. I listen to this one when I’m reading legal rulings—pa pa pa non-stop pa pa pa.
Then I’ve got my songs for walking around disassociating, because a lot of the time I’ll put music on and just go walk around aimlessly, totally disassociated as a coping mechanism, and I don’t even know where I’m going, but I know the city like the back of my hand. Since I’ve been listening to a lot of Miranda!, I guess that mentally linked me to another Argentine singer, Chano, and his song "Naistumichiu". I’ve been listening to it on repeat for like a week. And I’ve also gone back to listening on loop to the anthem for the football team Celta de Vigo, written by the Spanish artist C. Tangana, which is an absolute banger. Also "Ingobernable" by C. Tangana, and "This is not America" by Residente. On full repeat.
I wish I were more mainstream but I honestly don’t listen to a lot of Anglo artists lately, sorry. Just the '80s stuff, but I’m not hyperfixated on my usual '80s bands right now so…

American Splendor: Chapter 2
A journalist and an ex-navy man investigate a murder in the woods of Indiana while helping aid in building flood walls. But will they be able to solve it before the local militia can and before the flood waters set in?
Chapter One
Notes:
*Captain Battle is a public-domain comic book character *Will is Will Battle or Captain Battle Jr. *Natalie Hale is the transwoman version of Nathan Hale, the sidekick of Captain Battle. Get used to them, they'll be around for the length of this book.
The militia were a couple of good ol’boy types. They arrived on ATVs and dressed in uniforms cobbled together out of their parents' old military uniforms and hunting equipment. They came armed not with guns, but with minds eager to learn and solve problems.
The problem that lay before them was simple. A Belgian journalist and an old sailor found a corpse in the woods. The issue is it was torn into three pieces; head, torso, and legs. A further issue was the head and the hands were missing.
Natalie Hale was the first on the scene, she erected a perimeter around the body when Tintin and Popeye led her to it. She was joined an hour later by her half-brother, Will.
“What are we looking at here?” asked Will as he came up to the scene.
“One dead body, one puddle of sick, and no answers so far,” said Natalie.
“Whoever it was made quick work of the body,” said Will as he carefully walked around the perimeter. “Almost makes me wish we had some geeks who knew a thing or three about CSI work.”
“There isn’t a need for guesswork here,” said Natalie. “We’re above pseudoscience and we have to work within what’s knowable. We don’t have a head or hands which’ll make this a bitch to identify the body.”
“So we have a white…Male? Somewhere between late teens and early 30s,” said Will as he cast his eyes along the torso. “Who was in very good shape. Built like a professional bodybuilder.”
“Footprints on the perimeter, presumably that of our corpse-finders,” said Natalie. “Vomit too.”
“What do we know about them?” asked Will.
“Mister Tintin and Popeye are volunteers with the government operation to build flood walls. They say they heard screaming from the woods while out on the balcony.”
“Fun stuff,” she said. She walked past the perimeter and over to the center of the tall grass, in the early morning sunlight she found something glittering like silver amid the gore field. She pinched it between her fingers and lifted it to eye level. It was a sliver of ceramic-coated metal with a silvery bit of it exposed to the light.
“I think we just found a bit of pure evidence, William,” said Natalie.
“Don’t call me William,” hissed her brother as he went over to his ATV. “I’m going to radio headquarters, what should I tell them?”
“Tell ‘em we’re looking for a machine that did this,” said Natalie.
---
The chat with the militiamen was sobering. But don’t get it twisted. Tintin on a curb, a paper cup of coffee in his hands as he explained what happened to them for the umpteenth time.
Popeye on the opposite side of the parking lot and out of earshot also spoke with militiamen. There was something about the way these kids carried themselves and dressed that rubbed them the wrong way. They dressed like people he’d have known in the Navy and they tried to carry themselves like professionals, but there was some disconnect. Granted, he couldn’t give a fuck about antiquated notions like stolen valor or anything like that. He supposed that he wished they were of the same vintage as him instead of nineteen-year-olds in ill-fitting ghillie suits. The oldest person present was in his forties and had only one eye, a feature Popeye could relate to, but he didn’t speak to either of the men, only overseeing things.
“Listen,” said Tintin to his set of militiamen. “I’m as I’ve explained. I’m a journalist. If you let me I can get the word out about what’s going on and get some more aid for your investigation.”
“That’s much appreciated,” began an acne-covered militiaman. “But we’ve got this under control. Captain Battle has connections way up high and we’ll get some eyes down here to help us with this investigation.”
This did little to fill Tintin with confidence. Across the parking lot, Popeye thought the same. This whole thing was a fuckup waiting to happen and there was a body in the woods that needed identifying.

Bloodstained is pretty bad ass. Especially if you are a symphony of the night / aria of sorrow kind of person. That should be a personality test. Midnight Pulp has a poorly subtitled version of Sailor Suit and Machine Gun I started watching. As in the subtitles are only there for the first five minutes and make no sense. Similar in respect to Happiness of the Katakuris which I'm surprised hasn't been subbed by now. Delinquent school girl that is apparently a distance relative to a yakuza boss who dies gets wrapped in the underworld and dipped in concrete from a construction crane. MXC vibes on that scene. It's worth watching for the cinematography. It plays like Cops Versus Thugs meets the beginning of House. I like that era of Yakuza film because there was a lot of complex stuff going on politically. So without the subtitles the plot gets lost in really experimental shots mixed in with a really difficult lead character. It has a really amazing vibe to it if you are into Japan from that era. Especially the fashion. Ooh Kosh denim jumpsuits aside. But then again I liked Switchblade Sisters so don't trust my judgement on anything. Just hard to parse what exactly is going on and who is killing who. The one thing I've learned about the Japanese mafia back then is that it isn't much different from America. Lots of property and construction fraud. I grew up in a suburb and a subdivision like that. Mortgage and loan racketeering. The most modern Korean film I've seen that explores that is Nameless Gangster which is also on Midnight Pulp. You can thank the Samsung Channel for helping me discover that because it's right next to the anime channels in the lineup. Also saw the Roundup recently. Ma Dong Seok is in both of those playing very different characters. Probably one of my favorite comfort ensemble actors in Korean cinema. It is interesting taking gangster films from Asia and comparing them to the plots going on around me. Infernal Affairs worked well in that respect. Although I'm not the biggest fan of the Departed. I guess the point is that gangsters in both cultures believe they are doing well by breaking the law. Same with police. Cops Versus Thugs expresses this a lot in Japan at the time with how the police were working with the Yakuza to fight communism. But in the end, it's the people who die and suffer on and off screen. I don't know how Castelvania fits into all of this. Maybe there's an underwritten loan on Dracula's castle. A blood tax if you will. Don't get me started about goths and communism. Call that a “downward spiral.” Swedish House Mafia version of your seminal Japanese gangster film scored by Peter Bjorn and John. Call that the Lutheran brotherhood. Cue the drumroll. 🌀

#that man lived through the WW2 #and he was in the Mafia #he wear suits #he curses like a sailor and he sass like a badassas #he should good for him #you could pry three-piece burgundy brocade lining suit angel dust from my poor cold dead chained soul
^^^^^
THANK YOU.
I love femme Angel Dust. Angel loves drag and gender fuckery. Skirts are logistically easier for writing smut.
Let! Angel! Wear! Pants!
Masc twinks are hot. Angel is crude and cool and intimidates people and wields sub machine guns and towers over most people in any room.
Why not both? We should have both.
listen, listen. as much as i love feminine-presenting angel dust, i also need masculine-presenting angel dust in my life. dress him up in italian cut suit, make him wear reds and greens, make him wake up with a deep hoarse voice, why not? i love this kinky spiderman very much
#Also I just have a pet peeve of people writing mlm ships and deciding one of them is “the woman”#and I feel like Angel gets relegated there a lot#And like#They're both men#that's the point#also there's very little rep of victims/survivors who are men#so I get annoyed when characters (like Angel) get reallocated to “you're a victim so you're a woman”#angel dust#hazbin hotel

Subject 1 GT-Tundra [OFR]
Subject 1, designated GT-Tundra, is an enigmatic anomaly—a former Navy veteran whose soul remains trapped within a deep-sea diving suit. Crafted in 1801 by scientist Shall Huston, the suit is made of unprecedented materials, including Tungsten, Chromium, Steel, and an unknown meteorite substance dubbed “Hustonium.”
GT-Tundra, a respected sailor renowned for his determination, physical prowess, and deep-sea diving expertise, earned his notoriety despite the loss of his left arm during a fateful encounter in the South China Sea. Engaging in battle with an ambush squad armed with M249 machine guns, he demonstrated unwavering courage and resilience, even as he suffered gunshot wounds that pierced his left side, including a searing tracer round that tore through his upper arm.
In a testament to his indomitable spirit, he fought back, wielding his M240 machine gun, vowing to persist until victory was secured. After enduring further trials, including helicopter evacuation and subsequent surgery, which ultimately claimed his left arm, he continued to serve with unmatched commitment, training, and defending his comrades. His unwavering duty transformed him into a symbol of resilience.
In 1967, Operation Abyss Guardian presented GT-Tundra with an opportunity to employ the renowned suit on a deep-sea dive. The mission entailed the removal of underwater demolition charges, a task he volunteered for given his exceptional abilities. The charges posed a significant threat to submarines and divers navigating the area, requiring their safe elimination to ensure the waters were clear.
GT-Tundra’s mission was daunting yet vital. He descended into the abyss, equipped with the remarkable diving suit, its materials standing as the ultimate protection against the crushing depths. The demolition charges, positioned strategically to hinder naval operations, presented a formidable challenge. However, GT-Tundra’s strength and adaptability shone during this endeavor.
Employing his exceptional abilities, he successfully located and neutralized each demolition charge, ensuring the safety of submarines and divers who would soon navigate these perilous waters. The mission, considered high-risk due to the unpredictability of underwater conditions, was a resounding success, thanks to GT-Tundra’s unwavering resolve and extraordinary capabilities.
While successful in his mission, a grievous accident ensued. The suit inexplicably sealed him inside, defying all attempts at release, even those that posed harm to his physical form. Countless efforts were made to pierce or damage the suit to no avail, leaving him isolated within. His strength and resolve were put to the test as he endured days without sustenance or hydration until his physical form succumbed to the ordeal.
Even in death, GT-Tundra’s consciousness endured, trapped within the unyielding suit. His soul remained bound, precluding any escape to the afterlife. The subsequent experiences within the suit remain obscured, shrouded in darkness.
Initial examinations reveal GT-Tundra’s superhuman strength, instant adaptability to any environment, and combat proficiency. His left arm, a reminder of his past injury, at times exhibits limitations, but through rigorous testing and training, it integrates into GT-Tundra’s formidable capabilities. The suit now serves as a means to enforce discipline, utilizing GT-Tundra’s unparalleled strength to maintain order and security.
