Not really.

Not the way he walks into every room like it belongs to him. Not the stupid way he wears his cap backward and tosses a wink at every girl in the room. Not the way he always has something smart to say when you speak, like it’s his job to make you bristle.

You definitely don’t like how handsome he is when he’s not talking.

So yeah. You don’t like him.

Which is exactly why you’re trying to set him up with someone else.

It’s not because his smile makes something in your chest stutter. It’s not because, during your friend group’s last game night, he sat a little too close and smelled like pine and something dangerous, and you haven’t stopped thinking about it since.

It’s self-preservation.

You set him up with Elly — a sweet, quiet friend from yoga. She’s pretty. Gentle. Jack would probably like her.

And he does. Or at least, he pretends to.

You watch them from across the bar, Elly laughing at something he says. His fingers brush her arm, casual. You want to scream.

Your drink tastes like regret.

“You okay?” Trevor leans into your space, eyes narrowed. “You’ve been staring at Jack and Elly like you’re trying to kill them with your mind.”

You force a smile. “I’m great.”

He looks skeptical, but thankfully doesn’t push.

You watch as Jack walks Elly to the bar to get another drink. She leans in to whisper something. He laughs, loud.

You stand up. You need air.

Outside, the cool night hits your face like a slap. You close your eyes and try to breathe.

“You don’t get to be mad.”

You jump at the voice. Jack stands behind you, jaw tight, arms crossed.

You blink. “What?”

“You don’t get to set me up with someone and then glare at me all night like I’m cheating on you.”

Your mouth opens. Closes. “I wasn’t glaring.”

“You were,” he says. “You’ve been pissed off since I walked in with her.”

“You seemed happy,” you snap. “I thought that’s what you wanted.”

He steps closer. “No. You thought that’s what you wanted. To get rid of whatever this thing is between us.”

“There’s no ‘thing,’ Jack.”

“Bullshit.”

Your breath catches.

“You hate me so much you can’t even be in the same room without arguing,” he says. “But you can’t stop looking at me either. You think I haven’t noticed?”

You look away.

He’s silent for a beat. Then softer, “Why her?”

You swallow. “Because she’s not me.”

He frowns.

“She’s soft. Simple. She won’t ruin your life.”

Jack’s voice is barely a whisper. “What if I want you to?”

You meet his eyes. “Why?”

“Because you challenge me. You fight me. You get under my skin in a way no one else does. And when you’re not around, I feel like something’s missing.”

You blink. “I was trying to protect myself.”

“From what?”

“From falling for someone I can’t have.”

Silence.

Then Jack steps forward and kisses you.

It’s not soft. It’s messy, urgent — the kind of kiss that tastes like anger and longing and everything you should’ve said sooner.

When he pulls back, you’re breathless.

“I don’t want Elly,” he says. “I don’t want anyone else. It’s always been you.”

You let out a shaky laugh. “You’re infuriating.”

He grins. “Takes one to know one.”

You roll your eyes. “Shut up.”

But then you kiss him again.

And this time, it feels like home.

Drop early chapters of EYED / Dreamlike: This is a Moon-centric x reader fic I've been working on for several months now and I originally planned to start posting it when I finished it or got really close to doing so. I dropped a sneak peek of it here! I find myself currently on a standstill on it's later chapters, which is why it hasn't been finished yet, but otherwise I am reallllly happy with it's messaging and pacing. (Rn I have plotted out 15 chapters but it's looking like it could be longer with how I write oops-)

The first chapters have been pretty polished at this point, so if people are really curious about this one, I don't mind to start posting the chapters up to a certain point. If this wins, I'll post the first 3 chapters for 3 sequential days, then 4 and 5 will come out in the next week, and then the last week I'll post ch. 6 for no particular reason mhmm yup I am not planning anything nefarious-

Drawing requests: This would be my first time doing something like this, and while I know I can pop out some bangers for y'all I also don't want to dig myself into a hole and leave y'all waiting for a long time. 😅So if this wins, I'll take the first 10 requests and draw them out! If I feel capable of doing more I may open some more slots for y'all, but I need to test my speed and my capabilities here first. Expect some lovely rendering bc I love it so, but I won't be doing backgrounds (besides simple colors) for the sake of my sanity.

Drabble requests: Most of ya here probably see me as only an artist, but I do write and actually started out as a writer first for this fandom hehe. ✨ I've been doing well recently with short stories so as long as y'all want em, I can hopefully dish em out at a reasonable pace! I, again, haven't done something like this before. So if this wins, I'll take the first 10 requests, but I feel more confident that I can do this at a reasonable pace, so if things go well I'll open up 5-10 more slots for y'all!

"I'm sorry if I accidentally woke you up. I've had my hands full since it seems that the cats have been a little too eager to greet you this morning." *he then sticks his leg out as lilly also decides she wants in, easily stopping the tiny puppy even as she tries her hardest to get past him!*

"Ah... It seems even Eve wished to give you something today. I think she is giving you permission to borrow her toy. How thoughtful. I'll let you get up at your leisure since it's your birthday, but please be aware that I'm in the middle of preparing brunch. Everything should be done in a few minutes, but don't let that rush you. I'll make sure your food remains warm and fresh, so take your time coming downstairs."

His birthday has arrived... Knowing his family will make it a wonderful one for him, P excitedly looks forward to it~ Though as his eyes slowly come to an open...he feels some, albeit very light, weight on his chest... "Mm...?" With a light yawn, he peers down to see what it is, and gives a gasp of delighted surprise when seeing that it's Eve!! "Oh, Eve! Good morning; hehe, did you want to be the first one to greet me?" Then when he hears that sigh, he turns towards his door, seeing that it's Tum! Seeing him stop the other kitties from trying to zoom in, can't help but make him chuckle as he finally sits up while placing Eve and her toy on his lap~ "Good morning, Tum: oh no worries, you didn't disrupt me at all. Hehe, I can see; but I very happily welcome it. I'm just as happy to see them all, too! I see Lilly wishes to do the same, too." As shown by the tiny puppy trying her best to get in, chuckling~!

"Ahhh...so she really is allowing me to borrow her toy. To give me such special permission...she truly is a sweetheart. Thank you, Eve....I promise to be very careful with your toy." He hugs the tiny kitty even closer against his chest while playing with the toy with her~ Then as Tum continues, he nods. "Ah, okay. I'll be looking forward to it! I just know it will taste great... and no problem, I'll take my time. I'll head down once I'm ready...oh, and thank you for being willing to keep it hot for me, and for cooking in general, too. My morning is already off to a great start..."

Holding Eve in his arm, he stands up, so that he can give Tum a gentle side hug~ "I know you said don't rush, but I will still be down, soon. Ah, and it's okay to let the other pets inside: I must greet them with hugs and nuzzles, too!"

It is another sleepless night; you go to bed a few hours after Jack left for his shift at The Pitt but then wake up around two in the morning.

You try to go back to sleep, you really do, but just like always, it is as if there is no trace of drowsiness in you while you are exhausted.

You toss and turn in the bed, burying your face into Jack’s pillow in hopes of his scent calming your racing mind and lull you into a dreamless sleep.

Wrong. It doesn’t work.

You drape his blanket on yourself, pulling it up to your chin as you cuddle his pillow, humming in delight as the warmth of it seeps into your body and eyes.

Wrong. Again. You don’t fall asleep, and the ticking of the clock is not helping either. So with a very tired groan, you kick the blanket off and sit up on the bed.

This isn’t something new to you. You experience this a few times a week when you don’t take the pills, but tonight? You did take them and they still didn’t work.

Your mind wanders to Jack; your poor boyfriend having to work with barely sleeping five hours, you just know he must be hungry and tired.

You halt in your step when you stand up to go the bathroom, head striking by a pretty great idea.

After your quick trip to the bathroom, you bolt to the kitchen, shuffling through the cupboards to find the ingredients for Jack’s favorite cookie.

You don’t know when you start and when you finish, all you can remember is that you are walking to your car at four in the morning with three bags filled with stored cookies and sticky notes on each lid.

The car ride is uneventful; the roads are clear and streets are quiet, and you get to your destination in ten minutes.

As soon as you step inside the triage, a nurse you have met before spots you and waves at you, rushing to help you with the bags.

You duck your head as she helps you through the doors, trying to stay invisible when a man shouts ‘Why is this woman going there—‘

“Look who’s here!” Parker grins, nudging Shen with her elbow before she meets you halfway, pulling you into a quick hug, “What are you doing here? Are you hurt? Y’know Jack’s gonna flip out if he—“

“I’m totally fine, I just… couldn’t sleep and decided to be useful!” You bring one of the bags you are holding up, “Cookies for all! Chocolate chip with a sprinkle of sea salt.”

“If he doesn’t marry you immediately, I will—“

“Finish that sentence and you’ll find a tube down your throat.”

There he is, your protective secretly jealous old man. You smile at him when turns his head to look at you, making his way towards you to cradle your head to his chest.

“Honey, what the fuck are you doing here?” Jack cups your face in his hands, his brows furrowed as he searches your face for any sign of bruises or swelling.

“Jack, I’m fine! I swear!” You smile, resting your hands on his, “Couldn’t sleep so I brought your favorite cookie!”

“At four A.M.? Seriously?” And it finally dawns on him that the medicine didn’t work tonight, “I need to make you a very strict sleep schedule. Can’t have you running around the city with bags of cookies for anyone but me.”

“Don’t worry, I brought something super special just for you, baby,” you lean up to kiss his cheek, reaching for the bag on the Nurse’s station, shuffling through the plates before you pull his out, “Brownies for the most handsome doctor of The Pitt.”

“Sugar coating it won’t make me go easy on you,” he glares at you playfully, but reaches and opens the lid, taking a bite from the brownie before moaning and shaking his head, “You know what? It probably will make me go easy on you— these are fucking delicious.”

“Glad you like it,” you beam at him and he just can’t resist it— he leans down, pressing his chocolate-covered lips to yours, totally forgetting the entire floor is watching the two of you.

“Didn’t peg you for a PDA type of guy, handsome,” you tease him, wiping his mouth with a napkin you pull out from your bag, “Easy, this has to keep you fed until you come back home.”

“Fine, but—“ he points his finger at you, his face twisting in worry before he shakes his head, “Call me when you can’t sleep. Don’t come running into the ER, okay?”

You do exactly what he told you not to do.

Next time, you can’t even get a blink of sleep. So what better way to spend another four hours up to make full trays of Fettuccine Alfredo for your favorite night owls?

“Where do you think you are going?”

This time, Jack spots you instantly in the ER before you can sneak out, making you groan and turn around, only to be met with your very scowling boyfriend who has his hands on his hips, ready to scold you.

“Home?” You reply sheepishly, biting your lip when he sighs and pinches the bridge of his nose.

“It’s one in the fucking morning,” he says, his tone laced with worry and affection as he crosses the floor to reach you, his hand flying to your lips to pull you closer, “I told you what to do, what pills to take, but I bet you forgot.”

“I brought Pasta?” You try to dodge the question, and you sigh in relief when Jack just rolls his eyes affectionately before he kisses your forehead and leads you to the Central, already finding Shen and Ellis elbow deep inside one of the plates.

“Maybe we should hire her because goddamn-“As soon as Ellis wants to bring a fork to her mouth a trauma barges inside the floor, making her groan and glare at Shen who shrugs and doesn’t stand up from his seat, “Fuck you, man.”

“I’m your attending, now go save that poor guy while I finish my dinner.”

“Stop eating and go supervise the case,” Jack snatches Shen’s fork from his hand and pulls him up, “Go.”

You watch as the young doctor follows Ellis into the room with a loud whine, and Jack takes this chance to help you on the chair, handing you a clean fork before he sits down next to you as well.

“This tastes like heaven,” he whispers, swallowing a mouthful of the pasta while you watch him. He frowns when he notices you not eating anything, twisting his fork as he gathers a large bite of the fettuccine before he brings it to your lips, “Open up, sweetheart.”

“I’m not hu—mmf,” your eyes go wide when he pushes the fork past your lips, smirking when he watches you finally chew on the meal you have cooked.

“This is the first dinner we’re having together after a few weeks, enjoy it.”

“You’re not gonna scold me for not sleeping?” You pull your chair closer to his, resting your head on his shoulder.

“Nope,” he kisses your head after he wipes his mouth with a napkin, “Listen, if it helps, you can sleep with me in the mornings, like you’re doing night shifts.”
