The post-graduation job hunt has gotten so incredibly demoralizing. Like, I just want something that pays okay, is full-time, and has at least some benefits, but at this point I've already applied most of the places that fit the bill -- and that's checking 4 or 5 different job boards and some individual employers' pages, too -- and most of them appear to have just ghosted me. I knew it was dire out there but it's still something else to have to deal with the current state of things.
I've made an appointment to talk with someone at my college career center since they also work with recent alumni, but I really can't think of much else to do that I'm not already doing. I hate this.

So. There’s, like, canonicaly a prison in Ghost Zone. As well as a school. And a library. So, does it mean that there’s a possibility of a ghost bar? A haunted pit stop. A spooky diner, if you will. And if yes, what does it look like? Is it a lair? Do ghosts who work here get paid, and if yes then with what? What about food and drinks or do they just offer unprocessed ectoplasm in fancy cups? And more importantly, how do we make it Danny's problem? So many questions with so little answers-

Hi! Just wanted to say, haven’t seen many people talk about jikook “practicing” at being away from each other/distancing each other, but imo truly think that could’ve been a factor.
When 2020 pandemic happened, me and my housemate went from seeing each other every day and living w/ each other —> to being stuck across the country from each other because of lockdowns, and it truly was a shock to the system and hard to adjust.
For jikook imo, and like you mention, they didn’t know if they’d get the buddy system. They’ve been almost joined at the hip for years due to bts schedule etc, and then suddenly to go cold turkey in the military for 18months? It would be hard.
Working hard on their album promotions and settling into this new ch2 lifestyle was a great way to practice some space. Healthy too. But didn’t mean that they loved it, JK especially as he did seem to find it hard and constantly was reaching out to Jimin.
We’ll never know exactly how much they did see/communicate with each other over that time period, especially as jikook also do joke “it’s been a while!” When they saw each other that same day - but imo Jimin especially put some distance between them for the sake of healthy relationships and looking MS.. but thankfully the buddy system worked for them.
exactlyy. Your point about jikook being attached at the hip for years kinda made me rethink the “ awkwardness being due to not having seen each other” angle bc i wasn’t convinced initially but ig i failed to fully take into perspective how they’ve probably never had to spend this much time away from eo whether self initiated or not and it definitely would take them a bit of time to reconnect and having things be as smooth between them as they used to be.
“We'll never know exactly how much they did see/communicate with each other over that time period, especially as Jikook also do joke "it's been a while!" When they saw each other that same day” - This is such a good point as well because I’m not sure if this is due to the language barrier (though i doubt it because I don’t have this issue with other members) but a lot of the time with Jimin especially, I can’t tell if he’s being serious or not by his tone?
Like we see how often he casually slips into a whole roleplay in the straightest voice (hiking scene ep 2 for example, that one scene from BV 4 with taehyung) and that same tone he will use when having serious discussions so sometimes it’s like ? is he saying this for jokes or for reals, and jungkook matches energy very well w jm as well so this honestly could’ve been them doing one of their bits and none of us rlly picked up on it 😭

Even in food service, there is the demand for exponential growth. Each store has a profit target you're expected to hit every quarter. Each quarter the target gets bigger and bigger. The only way to make sure you hit or exceed that target is to increase sales or cut costs. Sales can only go so far though, so at a certain point there is the understandable temptation (not justifiable, but understandable) for your manager to start cutting hours. Once they do, your location has entered a Death Spiral.
The thing about the Death Spiral is it is nearly impossible to escape. It starts innocuous enough, with a few hours getting shaved off every week. And true enough at first you probably didn't need those hours. They were the slack, the extra hands that helped distribute the work and made it easier on everyone. You might not even notice they're gone. Maybe the morning rush is a little harder to handle, maybe there isn't as much time to chat as there used to be. But on the whole nothing has changed. You're still hitting your sales quota and, hey, everyone seems to be working a little harder. That's good, right?
Then the next quarter rolls around. You exceeded your quota. Upper management is very excited. But now your new quota is even higher than it would have been if you had simply performed to expectations. You raise prices a bit, push more expensive drinks, and sure, cut a few more hours. Bit by bit the slack gets tighter. The fat gets trimmed. All because continual growth, continual improvement, is not just demanded, but expected.
The endgame of the Death Spiral is the expectation that every worker will operate at 100% efficacy 100% of of the time, and that nothing will go wrong ever. It never reaches this point, as any food service worker will tell you, shit goes wrong. Service gets worse, you lose a few customers, and you miss your quota. This is the point of no return, because the only way to solve the problem is to add more hours. But there's no way upper management will approve spending more money. On a failing store? Don't be ridiculous. Maybe get those numbers up and we'll consider adding hours back. But the only way to get those numbers up is with no hours. It's a Catch-22. You're trapped. Slowly, inevitably, the store fails, and then closes.
The Death Spiral is a doomed strategy, but it is the one corporations push in response to investor pressure. It tricks workers into more work for the promise of relief later, if they do well and succeed, not realizing they'll only be asked to do even more next time. So how do you fight it? Know your worth. Don't let anyone give you more work without some kind of kickback. Don't fool yourself into thinking that being indispensable will lead to a reward later.
But the best defense? Join a union.

As far as I’m concerned, pokemon villain writing peaked with Guzma. Legitimately worried about the erosion of culture due to hyper-tourism surrounding their sacred rites and practices. Abused as a child, ran away from home to start his countries only youth hostel for similarly troubled kids, and funds it with crime. Bug type specialist, with an ace that is mostly known for its first stage being cowardly. Cultivates a big scary persona as a defense mechanism to protect himself and his members, no one can beat big bad Guzma, so they don’t have to be afraid anymore. His grunts trust him enough to ask him for help when they screw up, despite the fact that they all come from troubled homes. Was so significant that pokemon switched from having cartoonishly evil bad guys and teams to the current model of “sympathetic and understandable antagonist that has some very good points, even as they oppose the protagonist, and is in some way actively doing good in their community by supporting those who are the most in need of assistance, due to some legitimate failing of the current system.” There is a cartoon villain looming behind him, but they’re a twist and not the main team presented. Everyone wants to be him, but they can never replicate the perfection that is this man.

Thank you for your service Guzma

USA please listen to me: the price of “teaching them a lesson” is too high. take it from New Zealand, who voted our Labour government out in the last election because they weren’t doing exactly what we wanted and got facism instead.
Trans rights are being attacked, public transport has been defunded, tax cuts issued for the wealthy, they've mass-defunded public services, cut and attacked the disability funding model, cut benefits, diverted transport funding to roads, cut all recent public transport subsidies, cancelled massive important infrastructure projects like damns and ferries (we are three ISLANDS), fast tracked mining, oil, and other massive environmentally detrimental projects and gave the power the to approve these projects singularly to three ministers who have been wined and dined by lobbyists of the companies that have put the bids in to approve them while one of the main minister infers he will not prioritise the protection of endangered species like the archeys frog over mining projects that do massive environmental harm. They have attacked indigenous rights in an attempt to negate the Treaty of Waitangi by “redefining it”; as a backup, they are also trying to remove all mentions of the treaty from legislation starting with our Child Protection laws no longer requiring social workers to consider the importance of Maori children’s culture when placing those children; when the Waitangi Tribunal who oversees indigenous matters sought to enquire about this, the Minister for Children blocked their enquiry in a breach of comity that was condemned in a ruling — too late to do anything — by our Supreme Court. They have repealed labour protections around pay and 90 day trials, reversed our smoking ban, cancelled our EV subsidy, cancelled our water infrastructure scheme that would have given Maori iwi a say in water asset management, cancelled our biggest city’s fuel tax, made our treasury and inland revenue departments less accountable, dispensed of our Productivity Commission, begun work on charter schools and military boot camps in an obvious push towards privatisation, cancelled grants for first home buyers, reduced access to emergency housing, allowed no cause evictions, cancelled our Maori health system that would have given Maori control over their own public medical care and funding, cut funding of services like budgeting advice and food banks, cancelled the consumer advocacy council, cancelled our medicine regulations, repealed free prescriptions, deferred multiple hospital builds, failed to deliver on pre-election medical promises, reversed a gun ban created in response to the mosque shootings, brought back three strikes = life sentence policy, increased minimum wage by half the recommended amount, cancelled fair pay for disabled workers, reduced wheelchair services, reversed our oil and gas exploration ban, cancelled our climate emergency fund, cut science research funding including climate research, removed limits on killing sea lions, cut funding for the climate change commission, weakened our methane targets, cancelled Significant National Areas protections, have begun reversing our ban on live exports. Much of this was passed under urgency.
It’s been six months.
