Just gonna casually show off my lil Rook who became my canon Rook even tho they weren't my first Rook. Also Neve's personal trouble-
Their name is Shirevas Mercar and they use She/they pronouns, and they're my baby.

Tumblr media
The battle was slowing down bodies littered the ground along with their venatori masters. Aria heaved as her grip tightened on the hilt of her sword. “ARIA!” Shirevas’ voice sliced through her mind as she spun to come face to face of an ogre about to swing at her. In a blurry moment she saw something jump in front of her before getting hurled to the side by the ogre. There was no moment for her to see who or what that was as she slid under the ogre’s legs both her swords slicing at it’s ankles causing the massive darkspawn to fall to it knees. Taking the moment of weakness she jumped on it’s back digging both of her blades into it as it let out an angry roar. She twisted the bloods and felt it shudder below her before the body fell to the ground with a loud thud.
She pulled her blades out and scanned the carnage around her, no more stood it was only her. It shouldn’t be only her, Shirevas should be there too. “Shiv?”  her eyes caught sight of them, on the ground struggling to get up. “Shiv!” her feet moved before her mind fully registered. Jumping over venatori bodies and moving around the larger darkspawn before finally reaching her.
“I’m okay.” Shirevas’ voice was a little weak but they gave her a smile, her hand on their sword trying to use it to push herself up. Blood covered them just as it covered Aria, but their wounds were worse. On their face it seemed to cover them, Arai couldn't tell if it was their own blood or where the wound would be. The crows hands reached for her, taking her weight as she slid down and held them in her arms. “Don’t be so emotional now, I thought crows didn’t feel?” She quirked up an eyebrow as they coughed “Fuck, I’m tired.”
“Damn right you are.” Aria’s voice was low as she tried to smile. “Did you jump in front of that ogre? You self sacrificial prick.”
“Oh i had it just fine, and you weren’t paying attention.” the other elf gave her a smirk chuckling lightly. Slowly they closed their eyes as their breathing became slow, an agonizing moment of silence passed between them as Aria’s felt panic flood her mind.
“Shiv?” she shifted slightly “Shirevas Mercar do not fucking play right now or I will kill you.” her hands desperately cupped their cheek as she stared intently at them, waiting.
Finally Shirevas opened her eyes and a smile on her face “You do care. I knew crows couldn’t be entirely heartless.”
“You fucking bastard.” Shiv’s hand cupped Aria’s cheek as they lifted up, allowing their lips to meet in a sweet kiss. Aria could taste the metallic of their blood mix in with their saliva. She wasn’t sure if it was her own blood or theirs but she didn’t care too much. When they pulled away Shiv gave her another smile.
“Takes way more then that to kill me, I wouldn’t want to give Venatori the satisfaction.”
“You shadow dragons will be the death of me…” Aria sighed as her fingers twirled a piece of their hair. “Let’s get you out of here and some medical attention.”
“Aww I was enjoying our moment.”

RRAU - Fall of Minrathous and Aftermath
Very brief bits on what Kalais chose and did in Minrathous and the immediate afterwards. They are pretty aware that sometimes the people checking on others are really the ones that need to be checked in on.
Other rooks featured/mentioned are Ambrose @knowlsey, Caspian and Jordan @seizethemage, and Shirevas @alliminoobers
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The chaos was overwhelming.
Kalais hoped things were going better in Treviso.
Everyone had scattered it seemed, once news of the dragons hit the Lighthouse. Most, if not all the Crows had sprinted to Treviso, with a majority of the Wardens and even a few Shadow Dragons hot on their heels. The remainder of the Shadows split off to Minrathous. Everyone else fractured apart it seemed. Many headed to Treviso, the threat of Blight in the canals and concern for citizens too great to ignore.
The threat to civilians was just as great in Minrathous though. Kalais knew the worst of the damage would likely affect Docktown and Minrathous’ poor. They had taken one look at the eluvian to Treviso, then turned and rushed through to Docktown.
Now, they found themself running through the streets, fighting off Venatori and the demons summoned by them, while trying to lead a few civilians to safety. They quickly dispatched another Venatori, saving what seemed to be a Shadow Dragon agent based on the colors he wore. Kalais helped him up. “Help me get them to safety.” He nodded and the small group was off again. The agent led them through the streets and into twisting alleys. Kalais kept watch at the back, flinging sickly green bolts at any Venatori who tried to come after them. They had stopped caring what kind of magic they used against the bastards. As long as it got rid of them.
The agent led to a door that opened to little more than a supply closet, but he pressed a brick and a sigil lit up and the wall slid open. “I can take them from here. Thank you.”
Kalais nodded. They turned back into the fray, hands and their staff glowing with necrotic energy.
----------------------
There was little Kalais could do in the aftermath. They were no healer. They had learned a basic healing spell once but it had been too long since they last used it. Not that it would help anyway. They wouldn’t dare risk touching anyone for a long while after today. So instead they helped run supplies, bandages and elfroot, to whoever needed it here in the small hideout they found themself in. Then eventually found a quiet place to sit.
Who of their friends had survived? They remembered seeing Jordan kill a venatori magister. Shirevas had been at the docks last Kalais had heard. Caspian had passed them in the streets at some point, asking after Ambrose, and Kalais had not had an answer for him. Kalais had not seen them at all. Their stomach dropped at the mere thought of cheerful Ambrose being dead. Kalais had grown fond of them in such a short amount of time, if anything had happened to them-
Kalais swiftly stood and exited the hideout. They needed to get back to the Lighthouse. They needed to know everyone was alive.
---------------------
A note slipped under Ambrose’s door
Ambrose,
I’m glad you are alive.
We did everything we could. You did everything you could, and that is enough. It is all anyone can ask for.
I’m grateful you have Caspian as a friend. That eases some of my worry.
Please take time to rest. My door is always open to you, lethallen.

Jin's First Night in the Lighthouse
Timeline-wise, I imagine this happens not too long after The Rook and Neve meet with the First Warden in Dock Town
Featuring: Lin from @wardentabriis Jerran from @teamtakagi Elysia from @bubblecat-co Lis from @antivan-sprig Shirevas from @alliminoobers Jordan from @seizethemage-main Valo-Asaara from @glittering-darmallon Kalais from @sleepingtodream
Thank you, everyone, for letting me borrow your Rooks :) Hopefully, I did them justice
Word count: 1,062
After somehow, miraculously, navigating through the system of Eluvians, she approached the platform and was greeted by the enigmatic Caretaker, nearly jumping out of her skin as they materialized before her. “By the Maker!” She exclaimed, covering her heart. “I am here to guide you,” the creature told her as they gestured to the gondola floating by the platform. “Alright, just when I thought this place couldn't get any weirder,” she mumbled to herself as she climbed in.
Once they arrived at the Lighthouse, Jin climbed out of the gondola and slung her pack over her shoulder as she followed the Caretaker to where the other members were housed. They led them up the stairs and to a common room. “This is the Warden's common room. Your room is over there,” they gestured to a room beneath one of the griffon statues mounted on the wall. “Thanks,” she said dryly as the Caretaker vanished once more. She stifled her shudder as she opened the door to her room and chucked her pack into it. After closing the door, she decided to explore the common room. She noticed a large bookshelf and began to peruse the titles before seeing one that jumped out at her. It was a collection of old poems and short stories. She remembers reading them with her mother when she was a girl. As she begins to thumb through the pages, she hears two voices approaching.
As her ears perked up, she tried to decipher what they were saying. One voice had a tenor pitch with a slight Tevene accent, and the other had a hint of Fereldan. The first was prattling on about how the new darkspawn are different, essentially information dumping on the other. Jin chuckled to herself, “Ah, young Wardens are always so fascinated with the darkspawn.” As their voices grew louder, the two men finally came into her view. As her eyes rose to meet them, she noticed they were both elves, handsome ones at that. As the two of them approached, the one with the vallaslin stopped cold in his tracks when he saw the sergeant’s emblem on her shoulder. He saluted her and nudged his comrade to do the same. Jin chuckled, not expecting such formality here, “At ease, Wardens. You can call me Jin, no need for the formality.” The two men relaxed before introducing themselves. “I’m Sulana’lin, but everyone calls me Lin,” he said as they shook hands. As she studied him, she noticed how his loose curls neatly framed his face and, for a moment, got lost in his eyes.
“I’m Jerran, pleased to meet you, ma’am,” he shook her hand with a little too much vigor. “Andraste’s ass, how did they recruit a sergeant?” Jin laughed and smirked, “Let’s just say that the First Warden and I are not on good terms after that incident with Warden Thorne.” Lin and Jerran both laughed heartily. “Yeah, that sounds about right. I think he gets along with anyone,” Jerran joked. “Let us show you around. This place can be a maze if you don’t know where you’re going,” Lin suggested. “Lead the way,” Jin told him, as she exaggerated a bow, much to Jerran’s amusement. As they moved through the Lighthouse, Jerran and Lin took turns explaining the meaning behind some of the artifacts and carvings on the walls. Between the two, there was hardly a moment's silence, but she didn’t mind. It was nice not having to worry about making awkward small talk or talking just to kill the silence. Before long, they arrived in a common room, much larger than the one in the Wardens’ quarters. “And this is the common, common room,” Lin jested, “this is where we hang out with members of other factions.”
Looking around, Jin noticed four others in the room, and, judging by their outfits, two were Shadow Dragons, one was a Mourn Watcher, and one was an Antivan Crow. While she was perfectly comfortable with Shadow Dragons, the Mourn Watcher and the Antivan Crow gave her pause. She was wary of the Mourn Watcher and downright distrusted the Crow. One by one, Lin and Jerran introduced her to their comrades. She immediately recognized one of the Shadow Dragons from her work in Dock Town. “Jordan?” Jin was puzzled. The mage’s eyes met hers as they rose from their seat. “Jin!” they greeted her joyously and with a hug, which Jin was not expecting. She fought the reflex to bristle against the feeling because she knew Jordan and had worked with them on many occasions. “If you’re here, who’s doing Dorian’s dirty work?” Jin teased. “You two know each other?” Jerran was surprised. It wasn’t often a senior Warden and a Shadow were on a first-name basis. “Jin and I worked together during her time in Dock Town,” Jordan explained, resting a friendly hand on Jin’s shoulder. “What were you doing in Dock Town?” Jerran asked incredulously. He was even more surprised by this revelation. Jin laughed as she rolled her eyes, “I told you, the First Warden doesn’t like me.” Finally, it clicked. She had been sent there by the First Warden against her will. “Jin, this is Shirevas,” Jordan said, gesturing to their fellow Shadow. “Any friend of Jordan’s is a friend of mine,” Jin greeted as they shook hands. “Likewise,” they agreed.
Feeling eyes upon her, Jin looked over at the Watcher and the Crow. Both averted their gazes as Jin’s eyes threatened to meet theirs. The Watcher buried her nose even deeper in the book she was reading, and the Crow kept polishing her daggers like nothing had happened. “Those two,” Jordan explained, “The Watcher is Elysia, an absolute sweetheart. You’ll adore her. The Crow is Lis, They’re very deadly, but I’ve been reassured none of us are targets.” Jin gave them an apprehensive look, knowing they knew how she felt about Crows. “Promise, you don’t have to worry about any of the Crows here,” Lin reassured her. “Any idea why they’re avoiding me?” Jin asked, a hint of concern in her voice. Shirevas chuckled, “Don’t mind them, they’ll warm up to you.” “Well, it was nice to meet everyone, but I should be getting to bed. It’s been a long day,” Jin said as she exchanged her goodbyes with everyone. She even waved at Elysia and Lis, but got little in return. The three Wardens made their way back to their section of the Lighthouse.
Meanwhile, unbeknownst to Jin, Elysia was panicking internally. She was immediately infatuated. Her heart pounded and her mind raced. Jin’s smile captivated her, and she felt as Jin’s eyes pierced her very spirit. As much as she wanted to talk to her, she couldn’t get her thoughts organized enough to form a sentence. If not for the help from Shirevas, Jin might have gotten the wrong idea about her. Similarly, Lis was silently studying the Grey Warden and how her body moved beneath her armor, how her hair flowed over her shoulders, and how strikingly blue her eyes were. Her gait indicated she was well muscled and strong, likely a warrior. Seeing as she didn’t favor one side or the other, it was likely she wasn’t a shield user.
As Jin, Lin, and Jerran made their way back, Jin heard a melodic singing voice, drifting down from above them. “What’s that?” “The correct question is ‘who is that?’ Probably Valo-Asaara. He loves singing, especially higher in the tower,” Lin explained. “Apparently, the acoustics are better up there,” Jerran retorted as he rolled his eyes. Jin chuckled, “You know how musicians can be.” As the trio entered the Warden's common room, Jin saw a large Qunari lounging on one of the couches. As he heard them approach, he sprang to his feet, eager to meet her. “You must be the new Warden who joined us! It’s so nice to meet you!” he greeted her excitedly as he wrapped her in a tight hug. “Warden, you will release me this instant,” Jin commanded in her sergeant's voice. As he pulled away, he gave her a curious look. “She’s a senior Warden, Kalais,” Lin chided him. Jin adjusted her clothes back into their normal position as the embarrassment rose in Kalais’s cheeks. “I am so sorry, I had no idea,” he emphatically apologized. Stepping seamlessly back into commander mode, Jin stood tall, one hand on her hip as she jabbed her finger into his chest. “If you ever hug me again, I swear on all that is holy, I will make the First Warden look like a benevolent schoolgirl. Are we clear?” she hissed through a tightened jaw and pursed lips. Kalais nodded nervously as he looked down at her. In that moment, all three men saw instantly why she had the rank she did and could only imagine what she might be truly capable of if pushed to her limits. Jin dusted herself off once more. “I’m going to bed. See you three in the morning,” she said tensely as she entered her quarters. In the dead silence that ensued, they heard the lock slide into place.
Once she was safely out of earshot, Jerran and Lin drove into Kalais in angry whispers. “What were you thinking? Even I wouldn’t have done something so reckless,” Jerran scolded him. “She is going to punish all of us for this,” Lin said, tension rising to his face. Suddenly, they heard the lock again. Jin’s door opened, and she was standing in the frame in her casual gear, “If you’re going to argue, don’t do it outside my door.”
[Author's note: The four wardens are definitely going to become friends, especially Jin and Kalais; they just don't know it yet.]

Writing Prompts: Injury
Credits to @promptsbytaurie for the Prompt
26. "[name]? [name], this isn't funny. Stop... please..."
Featuring Shirevas Mercar @alliminoobers & Liana Mercar
Tumblr media
“Shirevas- No-“ Liana backed away, “We are not going to drink! It’s barely noon!”
“Oh come on! Liana you haven’t left you room in ages.” She chuckled pulling Liana out from the bed, “get dressed, casual, and relax! This is good for us. After everything we’ve been through a trip to the tavern will be nice.”
“Nice she says, it’ll be fun she says.” She mocked Shirevas. “Fine! But first round is on you and I want something sweet.”
Once they were all ready to go they headed to dock town, down to the tavern. Liana and Shirevas taking a seat at the bar.
“So what is it exactly we are celebrating? You don’t exactly drink much without cause?” Liana eyed Shirevas.
“Maybe we just needed this both…after the whole lot that’s happened here.” Shirevas turned to Liana, then signaled to the bar keeper. “Wine please. Cheaper the better.”
“Do you have coffee?” Liana asked the bar keeper who nodded and went off to get their drinks
“Seriously Liana? Coffee?” Shirevas made a face at her order, “We are at a tavern and you choose to order something as bitter tasting without it being alcoholic willingly?!”
“You dragged me out of bed.” She let out a chuckle, “whatever you got against coffee is unjust.”
After a while of drinking and finally getting Liana to participate they both were a bit inebriated. When a group of Venatori started trouble with the burkas.
“One day, can there be one day without these rodents.” Liana Sighed getting up
Shirevas hand started twitching her magic stirring, “This- hiccup- isn’t going to end well.”
Both of them got up, Lianas hand in her dagger her orb already up and ready as she shot at the Venturi, people scattering out the tavern like ants. Shirevas magic flared unstable as she managed to take out a few herself.
Liana noticed Shirevas magic starting to grow unstable, “Shirevas- stop using your magic- you’ll overwork yourself!”
Shirevas shot back, “you’re not fighting them alone!”
“Shirevas-!”
A burst of magic wiped out the tavern, taking them all out. Liana hitting the wall. Her eyes opened back up seeing the destruction around, darting to find Shirevas who was on the ground unconscious. Liana crawled over to her.
“Shirevas?” No response, Liana looking over her, “Shirevas! This isn’t funny!” She panicked, leaning down to hear her heart, “Stop please…”
Shirevas shot up knocking both their heads together
“Ouch fuck!” Liana groaned in pain, looking back at Shirevas, “you okay?”
Shirevas nodded, “Talk about a quick way to get sober.”
“Not funny.” Liana glared, checking over her to make sure she was alright. “No more day drinking.”
“At least not for a while.” Shirevas smile, “Let’s get out of here before we have to pay for the damages.”

A/N: been coming down with a bit of writers block but I’m pushing through! Shirevas over exerting herself to protect her friends seemed right so hopefully I did her some justice! Hope you guys enjoy!

Well, I'm taking Shirevas for this, as they turned into my main rook oof. But they are a shadow dragon and I went "hmmmmmmmm elven names" and saw the word Revas (meaning Freedom) and then there isn't really a translation for "Shi" but I used the context it is used in other words to potentially mean "Journey to Freedom" ish or something. I tend to have an easy time thinking of names-
I'm curious - what's the meaning behind your Rook's real name? Did you agonize over it for hours? Did it come to you in a dream? Did you choose one of the pre-select names in CC?

Weisshaupt: Nels Mercar pt. 1
Rooks mentioned: Esha Mercar @i-creatied-au Dáire Mercar @legendstrauma Shirevas Mercar @alliminoobers
Tumblr media
Nels threw the door to their room open, apologizing to Esha for the scare as they kicked it back closed behind them and stripped out of their fatigues. ‘Damn it, damn it, DAMN IT!’ Darkspawn on their way to Weisshaupt? And as soon as they get back from vacation too. The guard wasn’t ready and none of them were in the right headspace for this. ‘I knew that fuckin trip was a bad idea.’ They quickly pulled their hair into a low ponytail and pushed back their bangs. The soldier opened their wardrobe and hesitated for a moment. Their Shadow Dragon armor hung right next to their military leathers. Nels closed their eyes and took a deep breath before grabbing the leathers, reasoning that they’d offer more protection from the blight. By the time they were back in the com room their siblings were all waiting for them, each with varying looks of concern on their faces. Nels looked at their youngest sibling, he was pale and his hands were obviously shaking.
“Dáire, you can stay here if you want.”
“I can do this.”
“I know you can. But you don’t have to.”
“I’m. Going.”
Nels sighed. No point in fighting a losing battle. “All of you, stay close to Esha and I. Keep your heads down and keep moving. And if I say get back: Get. Back. Understand?” They waited for all of their siblings to nod, “Alright. Let’s move out.”
*****
From the moment Nels pulled themself up from the fallen Eluvian they could see the situation was far worse than they had originally been told. The screams. The smoke. They weren’t here to help the Wardens brace for impact—the battle had already started. They quickly helped their siblings up and out of the Eluvian before looking for a way forward. Up a nearby wall, a few stories above them, was a hole roughly the size of the Eluvian.
“Shirevas, can you get us up there?”
“On it.”
Shirevas quickly used their ice magic to prop the Eluvian up and move it out of the way before creating an ice platform that lifted the siblings and several other guard members to the higher level. Moving through the apparent storage room and out the door to an open area, the ground was already littered with the bodies of the dead. A group of darkspawn turned towards their new targets and rushed forward. Nels returned the charge in kind and swiftly dispatched the assailants. They turned back to the group, “Mages, handle area control! Rogues, use ranged attacks as much as possible! And Warriors, keep those fuckers off the mages! Avoid the blight at all cost!”
Nels did their best to focus on keeping their younger siblings safe. Watching Isiah’s blind spot, helping keep Shirevas’ magic use minimized, and keeping as many darkspawn as possible away from Dáire. They were an idiot, they knew they were. Regardless of his stubbornness, they should have made him stay at the lighthouse. Plenty of nineteen year olds fought in wars, but Dáire wasn’t trained for this, he wasn’t ready. They pushed the group forward, passed a hidden entrance, passed another dead body, and they were outside again looking at a… was that a face in the clouds? Looking at the face made Nels’ insides churn with unexplainable anger. Their right eye burned like crazy, but they pushed the pain down. ‘Straighten up soldier.’
“Keep moving!” They ordered to the others. The number of darkspawn kept increasing the closer to where someone had shouted the war room was. A ogre got a swipe at Nels’ right arm, leaving a nasty cut, but their electricity managed to burn away any blight before it set in. They swept low, cutting at the giant's legs to get it on its knees, before jumping to thrust their sword into its neck. Just like an Antaam, but twice as dumb. They pushed the darkspawn off the ledge and felt their blood freeze. On the ground, as far in the distance as Nels could see, was a never ending swarm of darkspawn. This was beyond being outnumbered, so many wardens were already dead. They turned to Esha who was standing near and also saw the sea of assailants below. Their sister nodded in understanding. This battle wasn’t a matter of winning. It was a matter of survival. Weisshaupt has already been lost. Nels stood up on a platform and called out to all that could still hear them. “Veilguard! We’re pushing forward! Check for any survivors, but keep moving!” They moved back to the ledge and began firing off arrows in random directions towards the ground. The stone wouldn’t conduct electricity, but their arrows had been specially made with copper cores just for occasions like this. The overcast sky had already filled the air with static, they could use that to their advantage. One giant flash would keep darkspawn from following their trail. They felt the static build around them, the storm that always stirred just beneath their skin curling in excitement to be set free. They yelled for the others to get back. Bright, purple, lightning erupted from their body, shooting downwards towards Nels’ make-shift lightning rods. It spread out like a web, frying all the darkspawn that had been trying to scale the wall. The soldier continued forcing out a large voltage, using the existing static to make the attack even larger. But soon, far too soon, their skin began to sting as their bones screamed in protest. This shouldn’t be their limit. Not yet. How had they already reached this point? There was a sinking feeling in their stomach. Had they been more hurt in that fall than they thought? Nels pushed the thought aside. Questions for later. They turned to follow behind the others, running deeper into Weisshaupt.

Injury Prompts: Non-Ships (1/3)
Thanks to @promptsbytaurie for the prompt list
(1/10) This one is for @alliminoobers
29. "Tell me where it hurts, and be specific." for Shirevas and Vena
*set not long after the dragon attack on Minrathous during the Mercar/De Riva Scooby Doo chase* credit for @bubblecat-co for her idea
Everything seemed to be happening all at once. The city itself was on fire and crumbling around Vena as she scrambled to get to safety. It was supposed to be a quick trip there and back for supplies for the Veil Jumpers. Nothing too crazy, but of course, a bloody dragon chose today to attack. She ran through the streets as quickly as her legs would carry her amongst the others, trying to flee. Her lungs burned, and her heart raced as tears bubbled up in the corners of her eyes. “Almost there, keep going, you’re almost there,” she repeated to herself over and over as she scanned around her for possible shelter.
In her rush, Vena accidentally tripped over some rubble. As she fell, she landed on her bad knee, hard. Before she could get back on her feet, more rubble began to rain down around her. She thought she was done for until she felt a hand grab her collar and drag her out and to a nearby alcove. As she looked up, she saw an elf with red hair standing above her. “Mythal’enaste, you saved me! Thank you,” she tried to show her appreciation, but the elf was clearly in a hurry. “Tell me where it hurts, and be specific,” they ordered Vena as they quickly evaluated her. Vena was no stranger to this type of situation, “My left leg, my knee. I came down on it hard back there.” The elf nodded, producing a bandage and a potion from their bag. She quickly patched Vena up and helped her find shelter among the other refugees. As they turned to leave, Vena called out to them, “What’s your name? I want to thank you properly.” They paused, calling over their shoulder, “It’s Shirevas. You’re welcome.”
(2/10) This one is for @teamtakagi
27. "Breathe... breathe. Look at the stars, kid." for Jerran and Jin
Brief mention of Lin from @wardentabriis and Kalais M. from @sleepingtodream
*Set during a Grey Warden mission to the Hossberg Wetlands pre-dragon attack*
As they made their way through the snow and muck, Jin thought she heard something. She whipped her head around toward the noise, but saw nothing. Trying to keep her calm for the sake of the others, she ordered the junior Wardens, “Alright, everyone. Look alive, you never know what’s lurking out here.” Jin drew her weapon, prompting the others to as well. As they pressed forward, Jerran approached her right flank, arrow ready to be drawn. Their boots squelched through the mud and muck as the icy wind swirled around them. That’s when Jin heard it again. This time, she was certain they were being followed. “You guys heard that too, right?” Jerran asked, making sure he had heard correctly.
“Yeah, I did, kid. Everyone, get ready. It sounds like something big is following us,” Jin ordered, stepping between the junior Wardens and the direction the noise came. She tentatively stepped toward the horizon when the noise came again, much clearer this time. “It’s an ogre! Aim for its legs and watch out for the club,” Jin shouted as the beast appeared at the top of the hill and charged towards them. Kalais ran defense while Jin, Jerran, and Lin were on offense. Lin used his magic to deal damage from a distance, and Jerran used his bow as well until he ran out of arrows. Once that happened, he was dodging the ogre’s club blows alongside Jin as they bobbed and weaved to avoid its attacks while landing their own. When the ogre was in its death throes, Jerran misjudged its timing and was caught with its club, knocking him to the ground as air left his lungs. Once the ogre was dead, Jin ran to check on Jerran. She leaned over him as he lay in the snow, “Breathe, breathe. Just look at the stars, kid,” she told him as she assessed him for a head injury. “You look alright to travel. Come on, let’s get you back to camp,” she said, as she and Kalais helped the lad to his feet.
(3/10) This is one of two for @randomness-in-motion
13. "I would believe that you're fine, but you have a goddamn knife sticking out of your leg, so." for Jin and Tamrian
Mention of Dan from @evans-endeavors
*set during a Grey Warden mission to Arlathan Forest after the dragon attack*
Jin had received several reports of darkspawn in Arlathan from the Veil Jumpers, so she took a small team of Wardens to investigate. She chose some of the new Wardens in the Lighthouse to join her to see how they perform in the field. As the small team navigated their way through the trees and around the waterways, Jin’s sense of dread just kept growing. She could sense something was off in this forest. She could hear the blight nearby, but they hadn’t seen it yet, but it was there, lurking just below the surface.
As Jin led the group, Tamrian was on her heels, gathering his magic. He could sense it too, he could hear the Blight lurking in the shadows of the trees. However, it was not the Blight they should have been worried about this day. It was the automotons that had come to life to defend the forest. One of them came to life just a few feet away from the group, as Jin approached to dispatch it, three more activated. Jin did her best to keep track of where each was and where each of her Wardens was, but at one point, she lost track of Tamrian. That’s when she heard a yell as the last automaton was struck down. She turned and saw Tamrian on the ground with a sword sticking out of his leg. As she approached, he tried insisting that he was fine and not to worry about him. Jin rolled her eyes as she squatted down to his level. "I would believe that you're fine, but you have a goddamn sword sticking out of your leg, soooo I have to insist we get you to healer," she sassed him as she took one arm and Dan grabbed the other. Together, they hoisted Tamrian up and got him back to the Veil Jumper camp.

Kiss Roulette pt.6
Original post here.
Last 2 Ambrose x Rook prompts are done! Did these take me too long because I kept pausing them to start other projects? Yes.. My bad.
Last two prompt requests are for Ambrose x Harding and should be done soon.. hopefully.. I'll do my best.
4. A kiss on the top of the head For @booksncatsworld with Rowena Ingellvar Uh oh! Ambrose is in trouble. I feel like Rowena would be very school principal when her friends are idiots but correct me if I've completely mischaracterised her.
Ambrose sat on the end of the bed, looking up sullenly at the elf looming over them. “Let me see," Rowena commanded, gesturing to the warrior's hand with a frown. Ambrose couldn’t escape the sinking feeling that they were about to be scolded, but they obeyed her, holding their injured hand in the air for the Watcher to see.
Rowena held it, inspecting the damage, and saw that the skin on Ambrose's knuckles was split in two places. A scab was already forming over the wounds, and there were signs a bruise was developing. Her attention moved to the red swelling on the outer side of the palm and back of the hand, just below the pinky finger, and when she squeezed it she felt a distinctly unnatural movement in the bone. A sharp pain threaded up Ambrose's arm, eliciting a hiss through clenched teeth and abrupt jerking of their shoulder.
"Your fifth metacarpal is fractured," Rowena remakred, continuing to manipulate the muscles and bones, testing for more breaks throughout the hand. "It's a common injury sustained when hitting an object with a closed fist. You’ll need to have it set in order to heal properly."
Ambrose took a deep breath, held it, then sighed. Retracting their hand from the girl's grip to examine it themself they said, "I'll get it fixed."
"Good." A silence filled the air between them as Rowena stared down at her friend and noticed they were avoiding eye contact with her. So she asked softly, "do you want to explain what happened? It's not like you to become angry, or violent."
It took a few moments before Ambrose agreed to meet her eyes again, looking up with furrowed brows and a scrunched nose. They chewed on their lips, torn over what they should say before settling on, "he was insulting you."
"I was not offended, and I didn't need you to intervene." Rowena’s voice was clipped, but calm.
"I know you didn't, but I-" They let out a long breath, composing themself. "It wasn't nice, and he shouldn't have said what he said. I wanted to make sure he knew that."
"So you chose to punch him in the face?"
"Clearly not my best decision," they chuckled.
Rowena's expression softened into a genuine smile. "Thank you for wanting to protect me," she said.
"It's what I do." Ambrose rose to their feet and planted a quick kiss on the top of Rowena's head. "I'll go get my finger set," they said hurriedly, turning to leave the room.
“Ambrose,” Rowena called after Ambrose, who stopped in the doorway and turned back to look at her. “Next time please don’t punch anyone, you still have 26 unfractured bones in your right hand, it would be a shame to break any more.”
Ambrose flashed a genuine smile. “You got it,” they said, then left Rowena alone in her room.
3. A kiss on the forehead For @alliminoobers with Shirevas Mercar A well deserved rest. (Set pre-Minrathous) This is short but sweet, and I have other plans for Shirevas...
Shirevas used their friend’s shoulder as a pillow, head tucked into the crook of Ambrose’s neck and arms wrapped around their torso. The two were nestled close to one another atop the warmth of the furs and blankets that made up Ambrose’s bed, resting in comfortable silence amidst the soft sounds of their breathing and the crackling of fireplace logs.
Ambrose watched fragmented light dance in bold colours across the stone walls of their quarters as it shone through the stained glass window, and absentmindedly ran their fingers through Shirevas’s sleek strawberry blonde hair. Snuggled in close to one another Ambrose could feel the gentle beating of the mage’s heart against their chest, and wondered if their own heart was keeping rhythm with it.
The bedroom door was shut, an unusual occurrence for Ambrose’s room, but it made the chaos of the lighthouse and the blighted gods seem so far away, and they needed this; just the two of them, sharing a moment of peace together. How many more moments like this would they get? We’re they doomed to end in tragedy, dying in the fight against their gods? Would something happen to push them apart?
Ambrose shook the thoughts out of their head, tightening their grip around Shirevas. We’re going to be okay. Everything will be okay. They shifted their mindset towards the positive, remembering They turned their head to place a quick kiss on the top of the other elf’s head, before shutting their eyes and letting sleep pull them further under the blankets.
