Combining forces, GSAP & Webflow!
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/combining-forces-gsap-webflow/
Combining forces, GSAP & Webflow!
Change can certainly be scary whenever a beloved, independent software library becomes a part of a larger organization. I’m feeling a bit more excitement than concern this time around, though.
If you haven’t heard, GSAP (GreenSock Animation Platform) is teaming up with the visual website builder, Webflow. This mutually beneficial advancement not only brings GSAP’s powerful animation capabilities to Webflow’s graphical user interface but also provides the GSAP team the resources necessary to take development to the next level.
GSAP has been independent software for nearly 15 years (since the Flash and ActionScript days!) primarily supported by Club GSAP memberships, their paid tiers which offer even more tools and plugins to enhance GSAP further. GSAP is currently used on more than 12 million websites.
I chatted with Cassie Evans — GSAP’s Lead Bestower of Animation Superpowers and CSS-Tricks contributor — who confidently expressed that GSAP will remain available for the wider web.
It’s a big change, but we think it’s going to be a good one – more resources for the core library, more people maintaining the GSAP codebase, money for events and merch and community support, a VISUAL GUI in the pipeline.
The Webflow community has cause for celebration as well, as direct integration with GSAP has been a wishlist item for a while.
The webflow community is so lovely and creative and supportive and friendly too. It’s a good fit.
I’m so happy for Jack, Cassie, and Rodrigo, as well as super excited to see what happens next. If you don’t want to take my word for it, check out what Brody has to say about it.

A pro-Russia disinformation campaign is leveraging consumer artificial intelligence tools to fuel a “content explosion” focused on exacerbating existing tensions around global elections, Ukraine, and immigration, among other controversial issues, according to new research published last week.
The campaign, known by many names including Operation Overload and Matryoshka (other researchers have also tied it to Storm-1679), has been operating since 2023 and has been aligned with the Russian government by multiple groups, including Microsoft and the Institute for Strategic Dialogue. The campaign disseminates false narratives by impersonating media outlets with the apparent aim of sowing division in democratic countries. While the campaign targets audiences around the world, including in the US, its main target has been Ukraine. Hundreds of AI-manipulated videos from the campaign have tried to fuel pro-Russian narratives.
The report outlines how, between September 2024 and May 2025, the amount of content being produced by those running the campaign has increased dramatically and is receiving millions of views around the world.
In their report, the researchers identified 230 unique pieces of content promoted by the campaign between July 2023 and June 2024, including pictures, videos, QR codes, and fake websites. Over the last eight months, however, Operation Overload churned out a total of 587 unique pieces of content, with the majority of them being created with the help of AI tools, researchers said.
The researchers said the spike in content was driven by consumer-grade AI tools that are available for free online. This easy access helped fuel the campaign’s tactic of “content amalgamation,” where those running the operation were able to produce multiple pieces of content pushing the same story thanks to AI tools.
“This marks a shift toward more scalable, multilingual, and increasingly sophisticated propaganda tactics,” researchers from Reset Tech, a London-based nonprofit that tracks disinformation campaigns, and Check First, a Finnish software company, wrote in the report. “The campaign has substantially amped up the production of new content in the past eight months, signalling a shift toward faster, more scalable content creation methods.”
Researchers were also stunned by the variety of tools and types of content the campaign was pursuing. "What came as a surprise to me was the diversity of the content, the different types of content that they started using,” Aleksandra Atanasova, lead open-source intelligence researcher at Reset Tech, tells WIRED. “It's like they have diversified their palette to catch as many like different angles of those stories. They're layering up different types of content, one after another.”
Atanasova added that the campaign did not appear to be using any custom AI tools to achieve their goals, but were using AI-powered voice and image generators that are accessible to everyone.
While it was difficult to identify all the tools the campaign operatives were using, the researchers were able to narrow down to one tool in particular: Flux AI.
Flux AI is a text-to-image generator developed by Black Forest Labs, a German-based company founded by former employees of Stability AI. Using the SightEngine image analysis tool, the researchers found a 99 percent likelihood that a number of the fake images shared by the Overload campaign—some of which claimed to show Muslim migrants rioting and setting fires in Berlin and Paris—were created using image generation from Flux AI.
The researchers were then able to generate images that closely replicate the aesthetic of the published images using prompts that included discriminatory language—such as “angry Muslim men.”
This highlights “how AI text-to-image models can be abused to promote racism and fuel anti-Muslim stereotypes,” the researchers wrote, adding that it raises “ethical concerns on how prompts work across different AI generation models.”
“We build in multiple layers of safeguards to help prevent unlawful misuse, including provenance metadata that enables platforms to identify AI generated content, and we support partners in implementing additional moderation and provenance tools,” a spokesperson for Black Forest Labs wrote in an email to WIRED. “Preventing misuse will depend on layers of mitigation as well as collaboration between developers, social media platforms, and authorities, and we remain committed to supporting these efforts.”
Atansova tells WIRED the images she and her colleagues reviewed did not contain any metadata.
Operation Overload’s use of AI also uses AI-voice cloning technology to manipulate videos to make it appear as if prominent figures are saying things they never did. The number of videos produced by the campaign jumped from 150 between June 2023 and July 2024 to 367 between September 2024 and May 2025. The researchers said the majority of the videos in the last eight months used AI technology to trick those who saw them.
In one instance, for example, the campaign published a video in February on X that featured Isabelle Bourdon, a senior lecturer and researcher at France’s University of Montpellier, seemingly encouraging German citizens to engage in mass riots and vote for the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party in federal elections. This was fake: The footage was taken from a video on the school’s official YouTube channel where Bourdon discusses a recent social science prize she won. But in the manipulated video, AI-voice cloning technology made it seem as if she was discussing the German elections instead.
The AI-generated content produced by Operation Overload is shared on over 600 Telegram channels, as well as by bot accounts on social media platforms like X and Bluesky. In recent weeks, the content has also been shared on TikTok for the first time. This was first spotted in May, and while the number of accounts was small—just 13— the videos posted were seen 3 million times before the platform demoted the accounts.
"We are highly vigilant against actors who try to manipulate our platform and have already removed the accounts in this report,” Anna Sopel, a TikTok spokesperson, tells WIRED. ”We detect, disrupt and work to stay ahead of covert influence operations on an ongoing basis and report our progress transparently every month.”
The researchers pointed out that while Bluesky had suspended 65 percent of the fake accounts, “X has taken minimal action despite numerous reports on the operation and growing evidence for coordination.” X and Bluesky did not respond to requests for comment.
Once the fake and AI generated content is created by Operation Overload, the campaign does something unusual: They send emails to hundreds of media and fact-checking organizations across the globe, with examples of their fake content on various platforms, along with requests for the fact-checkers to investigate if it is real or not.
While it may seem counterintuitive for a disinformation campaign to alert those trying to tackle disinformation about their efforts, for the pro-Russia operatives, getting their content posted online by a real news outlet—even if it is covered with the word “FAKE”—is the ultimate aim.
According to the researchers, up to 170,000 such emails were sent to more than 240 recipients since September 2024. The messages typically contained multiple links to the AI-generated content, but the email text was not generated using AI, the researchers said.
Pro-Russia disinformation groups have long been experimenting with using AI tools to supercharge their output. Last year a group dubbed CopyCop, likely linked to the Russian government, was shown to be using large language models, or LLMs, to create fake websites designed to look like legitimate media outlets. While these attempts don’t typically get much traffic, the accompanying social media promotion can attract attention and in some cases the fake information can end up on the top of Google search results.
A recent report from the American Sunlight Project estimated that Russian disinformation networks were producing at least 3 million AI-generated articles each year, and that this content was poisoning the output of AI-powered chatbots like OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini.
Researchers have repeatedly shown how disinformation operatives are embracing AI tools, and as it becomes increasingly difficult for people to tell real from AI-generated content, experts predict the surge in AI content fuelling disinformation campaigns will continue.
“They already have the recipe that works,” Atanasova says. “They know what they're doing.”

Lovely @larkral asked me about my podfic set up. Here is a quick run through for you, and to any who are curious, especially those working on @caught-on-tape-fest.
But remember, every person already has the most important tool for a good recording. Your breath. No matter what tools you use to record a podfic, be in a place where you are sitting comfortably. Raise your shoulders and engage your core muscles. When you slump, your diaphragm is compressed and your voice will be thin. Take some deep breaths before you begin.

Okay, back to me. I work at my dining room table. I have my mic, amp, laptop, headphones and a glass of water. My next additions will be a pop shield and a boom to hold the mic. I've been pondering setting up a more permanent place, but this is good for now. It's bright and stable and mostly quiet.

Well, quiet except for the fishtank, my cat (who yowls to get kibble and thinks that yowling at chipmunks out the window will equally as effective) and a stupid watch that beeps on the hour. So, yeah, maybe a better spot.

I was looking to purchase a used microphone off of kijiji, but @cutestkilla let me borrow her spare. She's an extremely talented musician and would be a good person to ask if you want to discuss hardware set up.

If you are lucky enough to use this kind of microphone, remember to hang ten, using the spacing of your hand to position your face before it. Also, you want the microphone to be stable.
When you press record, wait for a couple of seconds without speaking. That will give the software a baseline of the room's ambient noise to allow you to use its noise reduction tools.

"Goooood morning, everyone~! We are refreshed after a wonderful weekend and now it's time to Amp! Up Your Week!"
"We took a break from the podcast for a little bit... I'm sorry to those who have been anticipating our return. I'll be changing my schedule to only Mondays moving forward. Anyway, onto the show!"
Recently, a white stork was seen in the skies of Cheshire, England - which on its own doesn't sound too remarkable, but storks have been extinct in England for the past 600 years! With the efforts of the White Stork Project and with a donation from the Warsaw Zoo, these birds have been rescued and have been slowly repopulating and have begun having their offspring rewilding in safe spaces. I look forward to seeing this population grow and thrive once again~!
Reinforcement learning AI might bring humanoid robots to the general public. Though many AI tools have had their controversies lately, Reinforcement Learning could potentially replace the current software used by bipedal bots (such as the ones used by Boston Dynamics). When discussing AI, please remember that Artificial Intelligence is so much broader than what the "AI Bad" community gives credit to. These AIs with Reinforcement Learning could potentially help do simple tasks with those with disabilities or in elderly community. I personally love learning about how the general public approaches robotics and the growths they accomplish.
Finally, music time! I don't have much recently in terms of music recommendations... so uhhh, this song has been plaguing my house since my dad will do the dance out of nowhere... :
June is Pride Month but also Men's Mental Health month. I wanted to bring this up as I've observed that men are commonly accepted to "accept" their struggle and bottle their emotions. More often than not, people will reach out to them to "help", but when no actions are done and it's just 'I'm sorry' lip-service, it's the same as not helping at all...
We're all people, with every struggle being unique and impactful on ourselves. Be kind to each other but also kind to ourselves. If your body needs rest, remember to give yourself time to recover and heal.
Thank you for listening, and I hope to see you all next week!

Rust Compiler Performance Triage
Fairly quiet week with the exception of a very large improvement coming from the switch to rust-lld on nightly Linux. This can have very large impacts on benchmarks where linking dominates the build time (e.g., ripgrep, exa, small binaries like hello-world). Aside from that change, there were a few small regressions that were either deemed worth it or are still being investigated.

Quote of the Week
In other words, I do not want the compiler to just insert code to uphold the bare minimum guarantees, I want the compiler to check my work for me and assist me in developing an algorithm I can confidently assert is right.

Smarter Email Marketing
Smarter Email Marketing: The Metrics and Trends You Need in 2025
1. Redefining Engagement: Beyond Opens and Clicks
Engagement Pulse Scoring combines time-on-email, scroll depth, and hover interactions into a single metric. Micro-Engagement Metrics—such as link-hover rates and image expansion—uncover interest before a click occurs. Emotion & Sentiment Indicators, powered by NLP on replies and form feedback, reveal audience mood and intent. Stay updated with the latest email trends—visit this website now.
2. Deliverability Insights for True Inbox Placement
Move past simple delivery rates to Inbox Placement Rates, which track whether messages land in primary folders. The Spam-Filter Escape Score monitors real-time flags and heuristics, while Engaged-Domain Reputation weights opens and clicks from high-value domains to prioritize sending quality.
3. Privacy-First Metrics: Building Trust, Not Just Lists
Consent Velocity measures how quickly subscribers opt in and renew permissions. Preference Center Utilization Rate gauges how often users update their topic and frequency choices. Zero-Party Data Yield tracks the quality of self-reported preferences, unlocking personalization without compromising privacy.
4. AI-Powered Predictive Analytics
Next-Best-Action Recommendations score individual offers to suggest the most relevant content per subscriber. Churn-Risk Modeling alerts marketers to behavioral drop-offs before disengagement. Send-Time & Content Optimization Engines learn from past sends to refine timing and subject lines automatically.
5. Interactive & Contextual Trends
In-Email Commerce Conversions measure purchases made via AMP forms and embedded payment links. Geo-Triggered Content Engagement tracks opens and clicks tied to location-aware elements. Dark Mode Readability Scores ensure messages render correctly and compare engagement variations across light and dark themes.
6. Implementing a Smarter Metrics Framework
Begin with a Tool Audit & Integration Strategy to select platforms supporting advanced tracking APIs. Design a Unified Dashboard that visualizes new metrics alongside traditional KPIs. Finally, foster Cross-Functional Alignment by training teams to interpret and act on novel insights.
7. Case Snapshots: Brands Pioneering Smarter Email Metrics
Three forward-thinking companies have adopted pulse scoring and AI-driven recommendations, reporting up to 25% higher conversions and a 15% reduction in unsubscribes. Their success underscores the value of deeper metrics.
Conclusion & Next Steps
Pilot one new metric category, evaluate results against legacy KPIs, then scale across your program. Establish a continuous feedback loop to refine metrics, optimize tactics, and maintain a competitive edge in your email marketing.
Boost your campaigns with powerful email marketing software – explore today!

Best Pro VST Synth Plugins in 2025
Now, if you’re ready to invest in professional-grade tools, these best synth plugins are dominating the scene this year:
Airlift by Sauce Audio– One of the most anticipated releases of 2025, Airlift by Sauce Audio is a next-gen synth plugin designed for limitless creativity. Blending granular synthesis, spectral morphing, and traditional subtractive techniques, Airlift offers a unique approach to sound design. Its intuitive interface makes complex sound manipulation easy, while its deep modulation matrix allows you to create evolving textures and intricate sequences effortlessly.
Best for: All genres — a true sound designer’s dream
You he Diva- Still a heavyweight champion, Diva captures the spirit of vintage hardware synths like the Minimoog, Juno, and Jupiter-8. Its authentic analog emulation continues to be unmatched, making it a top pick for producers craving warmth and depth.
Best for: Deep House, Synthwave, Pop, Orchestral Scoring
Arturia Pigments 5– Pigments 5 fuses wavetable, granular, sample-based, and virtual analog engines into one stunning instrument. Its intuitive layout, colorful visual feedback, and mind-bending modulation capabilities keep it a favorite among professional producers.
Best for: Electronic, Trap, Soundtracks, Ambient
Spectrasonics Omnisphere 3– Omnisphere is still the holy grail of synths, and the 2025 version is even more powerful. It now includes AI-assisted sound generation tools, letting producers craft mind-blowing patches faster than ever.
Best for: Film Scoring, EDM, Chillout, Orchestral.
Special Mention: Best Vocal Synth VST
Sometimes you need a plugin that specializes in vocals, and 2025’s options are better than ever.
iZotope VocalSynth 3- VocalSynth 3 offers insane flexibility for vocal processing. You can transform your voice into a robotic entity, an ethereal choir, or even a percussive instrument. Its modular setup and creative effects make it a must-have vocal synth VST.
Best for: Pop, Hip-Hop, Experimental, EDM
Guitar Synth Plugin You Shouldn’t Miss
Guitarists are no longer limited to traditional amp sims. If you’re looking to blend guitar tones with synth sounds, check this out:
MOK Wave razor Guitar Edition- Built specifically with guitarists in mind, the Waverazor Guitar Edition allows players to morph their guitar signals into slicing, aggressive synth sounds. Think Nine Inch Nails meets Daft Punk. Best for: Rock, Industrial, Experimental
Exploring Granular Synth Plugins
Granular synthesis is no longer niche — it’s a must for modern sound design. Here’s a 2025 standout:
Granulizer 3 by Inertia Sound Systems
Granulizer 3 continues to push the boundaries of granular manipulation. It allows musicians to chop audio into tiny grains and rearrange them into haunting pads, glitchy textures, and shimmering atmospheres.
Best for: Ambient, Experimental, Film Scoring
Analog Synth VST That Feels Like Hardware
If you’re after the richness and organic quality of real analog synths but want the convenience of a plugin, here’s the best pick:
Softube Model 84
Softube’s latest, Model 84, captures the essence of a vintage Roland Juno-106, offering lush pads, iconic choruses, and fat basses that feel alive.
Best for: Retro Pop, Funk, House, Indie
Synth Plugins for Ableton Users
Ableton Live users will love these synth plugins, especially tuned for workflow synergy:
Wavetable (Built-in Ableton Instrument)
Don’t overlook Ableton’s own Wavetable synth! In 2025, it’s still one of the most versatile native plugins for complex sound design without needing third-party software.
Best for: Any genre inside Ableton Live
Pro Tip: Combine Airlift by Sauce Audio with Ableton’s native devices for mind-blowing sound layering and live performance setups!
Final Thoughts: How to Choose the Best Synth Plugin for You
Choosing the right synth plugin depends on a few factors:
Genre: EDM producers might love Vital and Pigments, while film scorers might lean toward Omnisphere and Airlift.
Budget: Start with free synth VSTs like Surge XT if you’re new, then invest in high-end plugins like Diva or Airlift when ready.
Workflow: Some synths are complex beasts (Omnisphere), while others (Vital, TAL-NoiseMaker) are simpler and faster to use.
The most important thing? Experiment. Most synth plugins offer demo versions, so you can try them out before committing.
Where to Explore the Best Synth Plugins
At Sauce Audio, we believe in empowering artists with premium tools that don’t just sound good—they inspire greatness. Whether you’re looking for the next big analog synth VST, a cutting-edge granular synth plugin, or a game-changing vocal synth VST, we’ve got your back.
