Halo self-insert thought...kinda
Can you imagine John's reaction to finding out his partner became a Spartan-IV when he came back? When he sees them again, they're different yet the same. There is a hardness to them he hasn’t seen before, but when they look at him, they just soften to the person he remembers.
And later, when they're alone, he traces all their new scars and old wounds from battles he knows nothing about. The wound of Cortana being gone is still fresh but now he blames himself for his partner’s suffering too. In his mind, he’s let down two people close to him, regardless of what you tell him. John doesn’t even know how to ask why you did this or how this happened, he just feels so much guilt, like he's to blame for this happening, that he couldn't keep his promise to protect you.
He will do his damn best to reroute orders to have you on Blue team, only to find out you’ve met them and they've been watching your back this whole time and you theirs. Fred just gives you a nod and greeting, saying it's good to see you again and he's glad you're doing well [aka glad you're not dead], Kelly bumps her shoulder against yours affectionately, something she only ever does with her spartans, asking if you're ready to cause trouble and Linda shocks John by giving you a spartan smile on your helmet, which you promptly return. He has no idea who you're asking about when you turn to Fred and wonder about the Ferrets and company, a note of warmth taking hold in your tone.
He finds out it's Kelly who hunted his partner down the moment she heard rumors about you being involved with him and made it her personal mission to watch over you, a mission that Fred and Linda jump aboard instantly without even meeting his partner first. When Fred found out you joined the Spartan IV program, he requested your transfer to Blue team indefinitely and the three had trained you to be the best after them. So that you could survive their world to see John again and he feels his chest constrict when he knows he's the reason you signed yourself up for their world of bloodshed and war.

Halo reach survival au bc yes
Tw: severe injuries, suicidal ideation, nightmares, grief.
Oh hey look I'm not posting about sonic the hedgehog? Whaaaatt
Anyway here we go
Carter
You know how the pelican exploded? Yeah I gave him hearing damage. He has hearing aids.
His face was covered by his arms, but he does have scarring on his neck from being kersploded.
Just to make it more depressing, his normal calm and collected attitude is an actual farce.
He lives in constant agony. Mental and physical.
"Its all falling apart. "
He's a bartender during the night.
Six and Kat are regulars.
He lives with Kat and jun.
He turns his hearing aids down when there's an argument between the ex members of Noble. He doesn't break up the issues anymore.
He's learned ASL.
Kat
Frequent nightmares.
Works from home, as a Software developer.
Her injuries were minimal.
She often stops talking in the middle of conversations. Especially with carter.
"It should've been me."
She makes a habit of drawing random devices she wants to build.
Often salvages things she finds in the dumpster.
She learned sign language for Carter because when he was still in the hospital he couldn't hear well.
Also ignores any arguments between ex members.
Jun
Works as a recruiter for the spartan IV program.
Asks Carter for advice when he doesn't know how to deal with the recruit's.
Isn't home very much, but he takes care of his fair share of rent.
He's the most mentally sound of all the members.
He wasn't hurt at all on reach, only emotionally fucked this time.
When he gets home, he likes to do mundane tasks before he inevitably collapses on his bed.
Emile
He ate liquid foods until his stomach was completely healed.
Has a large scar from the wound in question.
Had a blood transplant.
Lashes out at Jorge quite often. Once he even called him 'weak' because he couldn't come to terms with what happened.
Is the main source of team infighting.
Six beat the hell out of him in a fit of rage because he lashed out and blamed her for everyone's injuries.
He lives with six and Jorge. The three are pretty close now.
He's not trying to be antagonistic, but he wants revenge, something to punch, someone to blame. That's what he's used to.
He's yelled at carter before. But Carter just stood there and turned down his hearing aids.
Often crying in his room.
"I've lost everything...."
Jorge
Still the same gentle giant as before, big and cuddly.
Six sees him as a father figure, they’re often found curled up on the couch.
He doesn't understand why Emile won't quit antagonizing the household.
He's trying to go home. He wants to go home.
Spends a lot of time baking. Works as a baker in a coffee shop.
Often making food and dropping off where jun works.
"I wish I could sleep forever."
Six
Her heart has been replaced.
She's got a bionic arm.
She's missing a whole lung.
She works as a barista.
A frequent at the bar. She likes to bring pastries for Carter and Kat.
She's the one who breaks up the arguments now.
"I could've done better."
She likes to read, and does it quite a bit.
She stayed at the hospital even after she had recovered because she wanted to make sure everyone made it out.
When carter gets quiet, it worries her.
She knows Emile is struggling, often does some light sparring with him despite her breathing issues.
She doesn't mind curling up with Jorge anymore. It was awkward at first.
Kat enjoys her company now. It helps Kat to hear her chatting.
She feels obligated to keep contact with everyone.

@bigmouthgenius
This was supposed to be a simple smash and grab. Get the blueprints of the place, locate the objective, nab it and run.
In and out.
Easy enough, right?
Nope.
There was a security program that had been running passively in the background that not even the team’s AI had detected while pilfering the system and she had Forerunner code built directly into her matrix. Alarms began to blare loudly, alerting the Prometheans of offending intruders, once the data left its protective, holographic casing. Their fireteam leader quickly placed a hand on the terminal and green pixels flowed up her gauntleted arm and into a slot on the back of her helmet indicating their AI had come home. Without another word, the trio of Spartan IVs took off, wanting to be as far away from this place as physically possible.
Red blips began pinging off their motion trackers during their flight through the ancient complex and the digitized roars of anger echoed off down the halls. Their AI, Noesis, was still tapped into the local network and began to shut down the massive gray-white doors to cut off their pursuers or at the very least slow them down.
Evac was well on the other side of the facility in the form of a D79-TC Pelican dropship. Their pilot, Spartan Kent, had already activated the autopilot, calling the dropship in closer as the LZ was going to be hot by the time they got to it. A pair of beam turrets popped up in front of bulkhead doors at the end of one hall and began firing white-hot lasers at the fleeing super soldiers, forcing them off their current path and to take a hard right down another hallway to avoid being melted down to slag.
A Promethean Knight had sprung forward seemingly out of nowhere toward the Spartans as they attempted to dodge the turret fire and had nearly pinned their XO to the wall with its gun when it received a shotgun shell to the side of its head. With the creature down, they continued onward with their flight.
“Finally! We’re almost out of here!” came the Spartan to their XO’s left. Her IFF transponder marked her as Cordova, Caterina A.
“About time. I think we’ve really riled up the locals. Kent,” their fireteam leader replied then glanced to the right at their other squad mate. “Kent, once we get out, get that pelican ready for transport. We need to get the hell out of here ASAP before they call in for more reinforcements. Last thing we need is for the Storm Covies clogging up the air.”
“Way ahead of you, ma’am!” came her companion’s reply.
Just as they reached the last stretch, however, a Promethean had teleported meters away from the exit and brought an Incineration Cannon up to bear. The weapon began to charge, red light glowing like death. Right as the thing fired, their commander cried out, “Move it!”, before diving out of the way herself. The creature must’ve been in the local network as well as it was fighting for control over the doorways and cut the commander off from the other two. She rolled up onto her feet just in time to jerk to the side to avoid another blast.
“Commander?! Auri-?”
“Hey, you still-?”
“Get outside! I’ll meet you at the LZ. This place is going to be crawling with Knights shortly. I don’t want them bringing down our bird before we even get out of here,” she called back over their COMMs.
Spartan Kent paused briefly before responding so his counterpart took over. “Yes ma’am! Noesis is still feeding us a map of the area and there’s another exit out here. We’ll see you outside.”
“Copy!”
The Knight attempted to fire on the Spartan once more and just before it released the trigger, a well thrown grenade took it out of its misery. Reloading her weapons and taking a quick stock of what was leftover, Noesis, the team’s AI, wormed her way past the defenses the Knight had thrown up and unlocked one doorway, placing a waypoint that led to the exit on the Spartan’s HUD. The commander took off and was forced to double back twice due to an influx of hostiles. Out of nowhere, a brilliant flash of blue and black lit up a doorway to the Four’s left. Hovering there, of its own volition apparently, was a portal. She was really backed into a corner right now, with Prometheans encroaching on her location. The construct hiding within her helmet was already following her line of thought before the woman even voiced her plan.
“Commander, as much as I’d like to be out of here, we don’t know where that portal leads,” Noesis protested.
“Anywhere’s better than here. They’re already starting to wrest control from you and you’ve already transferred over the data to Roland, right?” Auri had already started to back up toward the swirling vortex. Sure enough, another entrance on the far side of the room had opened up, revealing a mass of very angry Promethean Knights who thought they had the human cornered.
“Yes but…” the AI said, her sentence petering off. Oh hell. Her Spartan had already made up her mind and there was no changing it. “I’m notifying the others and I don’t think these Knights are going to wait much longer!” Moments before the Forerunner constructs could pounce, the Spartan dove into the portal’s center and her world went black and the machine shut off.
---
She could feel her body being spun this way and that. Her skin being tugged hard off her bones as she fell end over end. Or so it seemed.
Auri’s shields flared up as an unknown source drained the batteries until they cracked and died for a few seconds, the annoying alarm blaring right in her ear. Her equilibrium was way off and it felt as though she remained within the portal network for far longer than before although she couldn’t tell how much time had passed since she had taken the plunge.
Without warning, a hole suddenly opened up and spat her out into the dirt rather unceremoniously. The Spartan rolled to a stop, head spinning violently and she swallowed down the urge to throw up. Any attempt at getting to her feet were met with major protest as her vision swam sickeningly. Shutting her eyes tightly against the light filtering through her faceplate, the commander took in a few slow, deep breaths before rising up to her knees carefully. Her stomach was still her throat and her head throbbed something awful but she was alive and surprisingly in one piece. A few meters away from her, the portal floated and seemed to shudder. Had the Spartan not been paying attention, she wouldn’t have caught that slight waver that indicated something was off.
“Okay, good. You’re alright,” came her AI’s soft voice. “We may have a tail. Prometheans may have followed us and… I don’t think that portal is going to last much longer. We need to get clear of the blast radius and into cover.” Noesis sounded almost distracted and for a second, the Four couldn’t pin down what had caught her attention.
“Great… You don’t have to tell me twice,” Auri replied, turned around to get moving and stopped.
Oh.
That’s why.
They weren’t on Requiem anymore.

"I've not seen someone move as fluid in a set of MJOLNIR. I know it's meant to be a second skin for us, but bloody hell..." - Spartan Kyle Garrick, on fellow FT141 member Jade Le Jardin
Tumblr media
S-IV Jade Le Jardin, currently attached to Fireteam 141, is a former ONI field intelligence officer from Section One.
She was originally considered as a candidate for the Spartan III program, having been orphaned in an attack in the outer colonies. She spent a couple of years in the system before being adopted by loving parents who were serving in the UNSC. Her family's own career inspired her decision to enlist herself upon reaching the required age, where she quickly achieved high scores throughout basic training.
Her talents and high scores caught the attention of the Office of Naval Intelligence, where she was recruited into Section One and responsible for conducting deep reconnaissance against Covenant forces.
Towards the end of the Human Covenant War and following the rise of the Created, Jade was selected to receive augmentations and training through the Spartan IV program, quickly being seconded to Spartan Fireteam One-Four-One under the command of Fireteam Leader John Price.
-x-x-x-
This is just me indulging in some crossover brainrot with some friend's OCs. This is part of a project in which I'm creating MJOLNIR armour suites for different MW characters, and Jade's was the 'experimental' piece.
Consider this a belated Christmas present, heh...

AAAAAAAAAAH!!
LOOK AT THAT. It's so awesome!! AND THE LORE TOO! You perfectly depicted her (/≧▽≦)/(/≧▽≦)/
Man it's really high time for me to play Halo. Got a new PC recently so I can play actual games with high graphics now HAH!
Thank you so much for this Pix!! 💗💗

Mission Parameters - 1/?
Written in conjuction with @bloodgulchblog's Touchstone way back last December when we both started throwing MillerChief (we can't keep calling it Milf) ideas around. Not quite ready to post in its entirety but I wanted to share a chunk for Potluck2024
To the dozens of you who now care about/ know who Miller is, thank you for playing in this space with us.
-
Spartans aren’t machines.
It’s a truth, a hard one that he’s having a difficult time internalizing. He understands on some level, but John’s never been one to include himself in any sort of kindness. Knowing something is one thing, believing it is harder. Especially when he wasn’t made to believe. He was made into a tool in order to spare others. He was made into a symbol to inspire them, to encourage more sacrifices that he thought they’d be spared from. They believe in him, even though he fails - even though he’s an imperfect paradox. He knows it is his burden to bear. John had not been happy to learn about the generations after him. Another bitter pill to swallow. Another truth; the UNSC, the UEG, and ONI would do everything in their power to maintain and grow their grip on survival and victory. That was a truth he knew and believed. He had had his part in that, in saving humanity he told himself, but now it was looking like that part may be over.
The IIIs surprised him, but they were familiar, having lived the majority of their lives as Spartans. They moved like Spartans, walked and talked like Spartans, were off-kilter amongst civilians like Spartans. The IVs were a different beast altogether- still Spartans, but with all the lived experiences of Helljumpers, SpecOps, and even some civilian types. Prodigies and geniuses. Spartans who chose to become a weapon-and-person. Ones who grew up hearing stories of him and decided they wanted it too- wanted to do their duty, not called upon to serve but vying for a chance to prove themselves or get even with the Covenant. Eager to become a number. Giving anything and everything to hit back.
It rankled some part of him that John tried his best not to listen to. The IIs did what had to be done. Wasn’t it supposed to stop with them? He wouldn’t wish the process on anyone, but the new hands jumped at the opportunity. They were still Spartans, but what did that mean now? Why were they still needed? And what was he supposed to do when he was outnumbered in a sea of the next model? Some of them were born after he’d put on the armor. Most of them had only ever known war, only ever seen humanity pushed to the brink. The ones he worked with were good people, but there was something sinister about the whole thing. They didn’t see him as an equal, he was a benchmark, a standard, and an unreachable one at that. The lucky one despite him hating that word. But the IVs didn’t know. He wasn’t a man or a tool to them. He was the Master Chief, the Spartan, the touchstone of the entire program-turned-branch. Their eyes glazed with propaganda and their words greased with blood. He wasn’t sure whose.
John didn’t know what to do with himself anymore. Recent events have had everyone worried about John. His team is worried. Commander Palmer and Captain Lasky are worried. Admiral Hood is worried, but at least John doesn’t have to look him in the eye as often as the others. He and Blue Team have been effectively grounded and put under close watch after disobeying orders. Everyone’s worried about the Master Chief and his insubordination. A handful are worried about John 117, but there’s one person still alive who’s worried about John in the most mundane of ways.
The babysitter. One Spartan Jared Miller. The guy on the radio telling them things they already know. Except that’s not true. Truthfully- again John had to acknowledge the truths staring him in the face- truthfully, having a handler had been… interesting. Blue Team had shared looks when they were told that they were going to test out handlers to see who’d be a good fit for them. The Blue Team, legends in the field who had been in active combat longer than most of their current peers had been alive. Getting a handler for them seemed like blasphemy. But having an eye in the sky watching their backs and giving them real time updates that didn’t cost them breaking cover or silence was…nice. Nice things didn’t happen to Blue Team. Spartans weren’t given support- they were the support. They were the boots on the ground and more often than not, the fodder that threw itself on the wheels to stop the war machine from devouring humanity. Now the tools were supposed to be people and have an entire network of handlers and techs and medical crew to care for and maintain them?
John had woken up to a changed galaxy.
Under orders Kelly-087, Fred-104, Linda-058, and John-117 ran drill after drill, exercise after exercise, and every simulation the War Games AI had with the few Spartan handlers stationed on the Infinity. That’s why John even knows Miller exists; Blue Team running the gamut of exercises with each Spartan mission handler to find the best fit. They don’t need one, never had, but what it meant to be a Spartan had changed while he was away. It’s still changing, growing around and past him. John isn’t entirely sure how he feels about it. Spartans existing and being promoted in the public eye, receiving preferential treatment, being looked after and support more than he’s ever known in his entire career. It was all so uncomfortable. John had thought he’d gotten used to being uncomfortable.
Spartans were evolving and he had to get with the times in order to not be left behind. More than that, John didn’t want to be a liability to his team. He just got them back and didn’t want to lose them again. A small dark part of him wonders if they would be better off without him. An aging Spartan who had run its course and should disappear quietly rather than drag out this misery in some kind of spectacle. John was tired of being an example.
John thought Miller was doing a good job, he just needed the confidence that came with experience. He was a fine handler for Blue Team after John had slipped his leash and gone off on his own, showing some unlikable non-Spartan characteristics. After Biko. Spartan IIs didn’t get grounded, but times had changed and there was a whole branch for them now. No more operating in shadows and being more myth than fact. The brass had been unhappy at the Master Chief going AWOL, Commander Palmer had been unhappy at them going against orders and making a mess for her, and Captain Lasky had been unhappy that John had decided to run away rather than deal with his failures. John was unhappy about that as well and it was why he was here, doing this.
A self-assigned mission, to figure out and help if he could.
Miller had a hard time not getting trapped in his own head. It's something John's seen in a lot of good soldiers over the years. Many good people he’s worked with struggle with shouldering the decisions they’ve made, the things they’ve seen.. John’s no exception. Miller's… just more obvious about it.
Miller pouts, he worries, he frets. It seems like anytime John looks at the man there's some kind of doubt clouding his face. Miller sticks out among the uniform sea of techsuits and buzz cuts because it’s the one un-Spartan thing the UNSC hasn’t seemed to iron out of him yet. He’s visibly nervous all the time. It's why John approached him.
Jared Miller seemed to be the one Spartan on the ship with more obvious problems than him. John wanted to find out why. Miller was a puzzle of anxiety, almost too tightly wound for a Spartan. But then John had seen him work, listened to him deliver intel and direct his own team. Spartan Miller was a fine handler, detail-oriented, mission-focused, and quick to respond to out-of-control scenarios. He just needed confidence both on and off comms, for his own good and the good of the fireteams under his leadership.
And John was going to help him. A handful of people had always told him he needed a hobby. John didn’t know what to do with himself, so he was focusing on someone else. It helped put things into perspective in a way. The IVs confused him, in some ways more than the civilian contractors and scientists that moved easily amongst the Spartans. More than the team of techs who insisted on his care and maintenance rather than letting him do what he’s always done. The entire culture of warships had shifted while he was asleep. John was a remnant of an older age haunting the new hires. There weren’t supposed to be Spartans after his class – his family. They had been called upon to serve-taken, to endure, so that there wouldn’t be a need anymore. So to quell the storm of thoughts he got anytime he left his quarters, John decided to study Miller. Fred said he was going to give the guy complexes, but John had thought about his time since waking up and running. He could learn, and maybe he could teach.
The fact that there were two generations of Spartans after the IIs weighed on John, but it was another thing he was going to have to learn to live with. The fact that there were 300 Spartan milling about on the Infinity was mind-boggling, and he would just have to adjust. With the ship now in drydock, many of the crew were taking the rare chance to stretch their legs and go planet-side. John was not. He was avoiding his team and avoiding the looks he got. He was having a harder time adjusting than he would ever care to admit, or even think. He was finding ways to keep moving even if Blue Team’s wings were clipped. John was entertaining something with the one person who was more anxious than him and who worried about John for the wrong reasons.
He needed to stop lying to himself. They weren’t the wrong reasons, but it was a novel sensation to have someone worry about his well-being in such a mundane way. Blue Team is worried John is going to work himself to death or snap, Command is worried about that too and doing damage control to whatever next mistake he makes. Miller is worried about John’s feelings while they dance around each other in this game of almost flirting and calling bluffs. It’s a game of chicken but with what John thinks are what normal stakes look like.

It’s a crime that scholastic pulled the plug for the third Battle Born book.
I recently re-read my copies of 1 & 2 and I am so glad I found your blog
I am going to be fucking haunted by the way Meridian Divide just fucking ends forever. Spartan-IV prototype teens! The ethical adult-volunteer spartan program kicking off by soldiering some high school kids! It's poetry! It's cinema!

Halo: Season 3
Not that I don't have like 40 half-finished Halo fics on my computer... but let's have some fun with fantasy Halo Season 3 brainstorming, shall we? These are just some notes I made for myself today.
Stuff That Needs to be Addressed:
Kai - Alive? (Okay, if Halo Infinite expects me to buy Master Chief was space debris for six months, not to mention an unprotected slip-space jump, with no side-effects and can just boot up with no muscle atrophy or anything, Kai can absolutely be fine.)
Makee - What is her purpose on the Halo? (In relation to the game storyline, what does she add? What opportunities does she create?)
Talia Perez - Follow Chief to the Halo? Try to regroup Spartan IIIs? Hook up with Ackerson/Kwan group?
Ackerson - What now?
Soren and son (Cassius? No, Kessler?) - What now? (Obviously recovering from the loss of Laera, but what is their quest? Maybe she can be saved? Not likely.)
Miranda - Escape? Hold up with the Flood while science-ing it? (Gravemind avatar?)
Halsey - Are we going to find a cure for Flood infection? Or is she a future carrier when someone pulls her from cryo?
Riz - Come back if her fellow Spartans need her? (Probably not, but maybe? What if her new home is threatened? Her and Vannak's armor is still on the planet.)
Kwan - What does she do now? Does she go to the Halo? Does she seek the Ark? What is helping her along? (Librarian?)
Sparks - Having two Reclaimers with opposite purposes. What is Sparks purpose? (Seemed like a more composed version of Sparks we saw in the last episode. Also, if the Flood outbreak started somewhere other than the Halo, it wouldn't know yet to want to fire Halo?)
Cortana - Definitely getting stuck in the Halo system and separated from Master Chief like the game. (Maybe can be the connection for Makee and Master Chief's storylines?)
Covenant - Survivors of the battle, also going for the Halo? (High Charity is still in play, I believe.)
UNSC/ONI - Do we have a marines dropping to Halo? Possibilities of bringing in Lord Hood and Serin Osman to regroup these factions.
Stuff I had questions about that was probably not going to be addressed even if the show got a Season 3:
How augmented were the Spartan IIIs? Kind of felt like they were portrayed as ODST with better armor rather than augmented.
Why were there child soldiers being trained if Ackerson already had his Spartan IIIs? Parangosky? (Definitely spelling that wrong.) Did he know? I feel this variant Ackerson wouldn't have used kids if he thought he was getting the results he wanted out of adult candidates. Or maybe Spartan IIIs were a publicity stunt, since the show really played up the propaganda around Master Chief's image, and the kids Kessler was grouped with were the real program? (Flipping purpose of Spartan III and IV projects?) Also, where are they now?
Is Violetta Franco from season one still around? I honestly can't recall if she died or not.
Feels like with how Reach went down in the series there had to be Spartan IIs deployed elsewhere to still be around. (I feel like Kai was very much Kurt in season 2. Cut off from all the other Spartans to train new Spartans, and given bad/misleading information about her job and who was still alive.)

Happy birthday to Spartan Bonita Stone!
Today is her -511th birthday!
Tumblr media
Stone was born on Komoya and enlisted in the UNSC, where she served on a stealth vessel. This experience lead to her placement on Fireteam Shadow after she joined the SPARTAN-IV program.
In 2560, Stone was serving aboard the Infinity when it was attacked by the Banished. She was ordered to separate from her team and evacuate with Spartan Nina Koven while the other members of Shadow stayed behind. After crash-landing on Zeta Halo, she and the remaining survivors met up with Koven, who was leading her own group of survivors. Witrhout a real fighting force or orders, the group remained hidden and only fought if necessary as they made their way through the ring. Eventually, they discovered the UNSC outpost at the Mortal Reverie. The Reverie had crash-landed on the ring but still had sufficient supplies to act as a much-needed stronghold for the scattered UNSC forces. Their leader, Spartan Hudson Griffin, left with a small team in an attempt to assassinate Escharum. He failed, and Escharum staged a counter-attack on the Reverie. Despite being prepared for the attack, the UNSC forces were overwhelmed and were forced to flee. Stone and the survivors went into hiding and resorted to guerilla warfare.
Eventually, she returned to the Reverie to find that the Banished had been excavating. They used a human prisoner to access an artifact which gave them the location of the ring's defensive systems. Realizing this would eliminate any chances of a UNSC survival, Stone attacked. She engaged with several Banished leaders, including Jega 'Rdomnai, Gorian, and Hectarius. Though she was at a significant disadvantage, she was still able to get close enough to steal the data on the ring's defenses and have her personal AI, Ouco, copy and then corrupt the Banished's version of the data. Eventually, she was overrun and was abushed by 'Rdomnai, who impaled her on his energy sword. The Banished took the data node back, unaware that it had been corrupted.
Her body was later discovered by Koven, who retrieved the invaluable data from Stone's armor, but did not have the means to move her. A month later, Stone aided the UNSC one last time when Master Chief discovered her body and was able to add her energy shielding module to his own armor.

I feel like Spartans would also be attracted to someone who can give them competition. Like, if Kelly had her fastest time at the Infinity's track tied by a medic in full kit, or Linda having her high score at the firing range beaten by another sharpshooter with unorthodox firing positions.
Oh, 100% and no one can convince me otherwise. Like the Spartans love a good challenge and I believe this causes some of them to obsess because they get overly excited, especially since this is out of the norm. Granted for this to work and be true, that someone would have to be at least Spartan-IV or have augmentations.
The words 'oh no,' would come out of Fred's mouth when Linda saw the leaderboard and she had been bumped into second place for the third time that week. First, all of Blue team was surprised but none of them were prepared for how excited Linda got, someone had beaten her? At shooting? Her? For the first time in her life? None of the other Spartan IIs could come close to making the shots she could, but here her name was, right above Fred's and finally, finally below someone else's. Linda has to know who it is, she is grilling Roland for information; she wants this Spartan's mission record, she wants their full profile and I believe this might be where Linda's obsession starts. Linda herself makes shots from unorthodox firing positions and to find another person who does it? She'll be asking Captain Lasky to pull some strings to get onto a mission with this Spartan and their team. And for the first time in the UNSC Infinity's history, the number one spot keeps bouncing between Spartan-058 and Spartan [L/n].
The day Kelly sees her record time tied with someone else, she stands there for a solid minute unmoving. She even goes to grab John or Linda and points asking if she's finally going insane and seeing things. Kelly wants to race. Who is this person and where can she find them? Fred has to hold her back from sprinting around the ship to find who the hell this other Spartan is. The longer this question goes unanswered, the more unraveled she gets, she's always been the fastest, and no one in the Spartan II program could catch her but here someone was with the same speed as her? This has got to be a lie, and she doesn't believe it until she sees a spartan playing rabbit for their team on the field and she immediately knows this bitch person is them. And when she finds out that they're the team's medic, Kelly wants to know more. She'll ambush them in the middle of the hall or in the medical facility, Kelly has question and you will answer them. Honestly, a part of her is excited to run full speed with someone matching her pace.

Hello! I'd like to request a concept for Edward Buck from Halo if that's okay. Thank you! ^^
Focusing more on Game Canon than Book Canon in this. Hope you like it still :) My biggest issue with Halo yanderes is making them more than just protective, lol. I haven't played ODST in a bit so this is mostly from memory. If someone has ideas to makes this more "yandere", I'll take feedback.
Not proofread, may have mistakes.
Yandere! Edward Buck Concept
Pairing: Platonic -> Romantic
Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Obsession, Overprotective behavior, Manipulation, Paranoia, Forced retirement, Isolation, Hidden cameras, Implied forced marriage, Delusional behavior, Toxic spouse, Implied forced relationship.
Tumblr media
Buck has quite the record on him.
Even as an ODST he was trained on Reach and took part in many Human/Covenant war events.
Not only that but after he was an ODST he joined the SPARTAN-IV program, becoming a member of Team OSIRIS.
I don't think his behavior changes between being an ODST and a Spartan.
Buck is brave and a natural leader.
Despite this he has also seen many of his fellow marines die in his line of work.
This makes him a bit brash but he still manages to always have a plan ready.
Another thing about Buck is he's stubborn and used to have a bloodlust towards the Covenant for glassing his homeworld.
Overall Buck is a great leader... which makes me think he'd have an obsession with someone on his team.
Perhaps you were part of his ODST team and he often found himself prioritizing you.
Buck's obsession can go two ways.
Maybe he still loves Dare, in that case his obsession with you is platonic.
That would make Buck just see you as a close friend, one he wants to protect.
Then there's is he doesn't hold feelings for Dare anymore, in that case his obsession is romantic.
Now he still wants to protect you... but he also wants to also make you his spouse.
His obsession starts as an ODST with you being part of Alpha-Nine.
Even while training you Buck finds himself impressed by your skill set.
He finds you pleasant to talk to and that's when his obsession takes root.
Despite training on Reach, Buck hasn't gone through Spartan enhancements like Master Chief.
Which makes him fully capable of experiencing the full range of emotions.
Even more than The Rookie also on your team.
Imagine if Buck gets attached to you... then you're separated during the New Mombasa attack.
He's already busy enough trying to piece Alpha-Nine back together.
Now he is slowly trying to come to terms with the fact you're missing.
Meanwhile you're in another area, probably accidentally finding The Rookie in the process.
By the time Buck finishes wiping out Covenant forces he always thinks back to you.
He doesn't want to fail you as a leader....
He doesn't understand how he got so attached to you.
But now here he is, panicking because you aren't in his sight... fearing the worst.
Although, near the end of the Battle of Mombasa, Buck and Dare meet up with you again.
Buck never thought he'd see you again, his obsession growing more once he sees you okay.
He holds himself back from just hugging you or doing something more, focusing on the mission.
But safe to say this is where his obsession really takes root.
For the most part, as most UNSC in Halo would be, Buck is a protective yandere.
He is capable of both platonic and romantic feelings towards you.
It would surprise him if he suddenly felt romantic attraction towards you at first.
He first met Dare, but now he's attached to you.
He catches up with you after the events of the war, definitely.
Especially when you both are assigned to the SPARTAN-IV program.
Before going into rigorous training together you both manage to have casual conversation.
Maybe he keeps it friendly, respecting you as his teammate and perhaps even a best friend.
Or maybe Buck takes his chances, flirting with you and praising you for getting this far.
No matter his intentions, Buck feels responsible for you as your leader.
Even if you both have Spartan training and become Spartans, he never seems to part from you.
Why?
The events of New Mombasa echo in his head.
It reminds him of how easily he could lose you.
Even with energy shields and heavy armor, Spartans aren't invincible.
Buck seems like the type of person to convince you to drop out of the program.
He doesn't necessarily doubt your skills, but he has his fears.
He'd rather you retire from fighting and return to civilian life on an inner colony.
He'll keep fighting to keep you safe, but he just doesn't wish to lose you.
He's not necessarily possessive but does "take claim" to you in a way around others.
Maybe he really does eventually feel his feelings are romantic.
Afterwards he wants to keep you in a home away from all the fighting.
In that case he tries to convince you to not only date him but become his spouse.
Maybe you accept? He's a good guy... right?
He might even rush the relationship a bit.
He just wants to marry you and protect you.
Like a good man should, no?
He hates it when you protest against him.
He is definitely the type to say "This is for your own good."
He will fight with you (verbally) to get you to give up being a Spartan.
Eventually he'll have you settle down somewhere and he'll visit you when he can.
He doesn't want you to cheat on him so he probably has cameras or something to monitor you.
He expects his spouse to be loyal, after all.
He does all this to protect you.
But don't worry! When he visits you he'll smother you in affection.
Sometimes too much affection with the amount he kisses you.
Even becoming a Spartan hasn't affected his drive towards you.
After all, he doesn't have the enhancements/augmentations older SPARTAN-IIs do.
I'm not sure if he'd keep you locked in the home or not.
Theoretically he might and just have food and necessities delivered to you.
Buck definitely calls you as often as he can.
Dare wonders if she's dodged a bullet due to seeing how obsessive Buck is over you.
She even tries to ask Buck about it, making Buck immediately shut her down.
"I'm doing this for their protection, they're happy with me. What are you trying to do, take them from me?"
Buck's obsession starts showing through cracks in his personality.
Poor you barely gets to go outside when he's gone and he calls so often.
Buck gets worried when you don't answer his calls.
If he isn't in the middle of a huge mission, he'll probably even go to check on you.
Eventually Buck leaves Team OSIRIS and reforms Alpha-Nine.
But you don't join.
No, now after the Cortana conflict he stays with you much more often.
The good news is you can go outside now.
The bad news is you no longer have privacy.
Buck isn't a yandere to kill humans.
Not unless they push him.
So for the most part he is like a helicopter spouse, never leaving you alone and smothering you with affection.
After all... he's been away from you for too long...
It's about time you two catch up, right? Isn't that what good spouses should do with each other?

Buck
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Right - ODST Buck. Left - Spartan Buck.
His first mission was the rescue of the students of Corbulo Academy. Only Lasky came out alive.
The UNSC wanted to atone for the Spartan-II and III Programs. With Doctor Miranda Keyes at the helm, she created the Spartan-IV Program after the Human-Covenant War; Buck takes pride in being the first Spartan-IV, having been the first to volunteer for the program when it kicked off AND the first one to come out a Spartan.

I love researching how fucked up each Spartan program is. VERY fun to utilize in rp
It's so bad!!! All four generations of Spartans are fucked up! It's almost like turning people into weapons is a bad thing to do!
I love the implication that Spartan-IVs are built to last and don't know how long they'll be in fighting shape for, with the implication that they will BE fighting. What an insane thing for a person to sign on for!
