So, is Aventurine going to come back and have a larger role or is the writing for Star Rail just really weird?
Spoilers for Penacony
I feel like Aventurine's plot in the Penacony storyline is interesting but kind of awkward? The writing in Star Rail so far is pretty awkward in general imo, but him especially.
Like, you're introduced to him as this shifty ally but actually adversary but actually ally. He lies to you a lot, acts like a crazy person (at least he must have looked crazy from the trailblazer's perspective), and then gets YEEETED out of the story. That's all great and cool, his schemes eventually uncover the final secret of the plot, but did we really need the intimate deep dive into his backstory?
I loved getting to see all of his flashbacks, it definitely made him the most interesting and complex character so far, but from a storytelling perspective it's a weird choice.
For Aventurine to fulfill his role in the story we really just needed to know that he's the schemer among the IPC. There's really no reason to go so deep into his past and for us to actually see all of those scenes play out. It would have been enough to suggest that he had a rough past that made him the way he is.
I don't know if I'm reading too much into things but I feel like it's important. Not only does Penacony's story make Aventurine suddenly feel like an important character, but his flashbacks also introduced this idea of people being blessed by gods that aren't Aeons with Giathra which hopefully means they're going to go back and explore the nature of divinities in this universe more and not just forget about it.
Also, am I crazy of does the wording in some scenes seem to imply that Aventurine is NOT the last Avgin? When asked if he's the last of his kind he answers "perhaps". During the IPC broadcast about the genocide they report 6000+ deaths and 3000+ missing. That's a lot of missing people! And in his character story when he asks Jade about the status of his people she says "there are no more Avgins on Sigonia".
On Sigonia. Not that there are no more Avgins in general.
My prediction is that Aventurine is not done causing problems and that we might find out that the IPC is really into human trafficking 😬

My Current WIP's!
Tumblr media
Hi guys! Lately, I've had an insane amount of energy and motivation to write, so I'm coming at you with a little WIP update today! 💖
Tales From The SSR/Specs and the Flyboy (Jack Thompson X F!Reader): I'm working on a nice little one-shot from Jarvis' POV, set between Chapter 10 and 11 of Specs and the Flyboy, that'll expand a little on his relationship with Specs and their friendship with Howard Stark. It's nothing too deep, but I'm really enjoying writing from my favorite butler's POV!
Taking Care of Business (Din Djarin X F!Reader): I know, I know, I promised to give ya'll more Din and Alor'ad a long time ago, but better late than never, right? I'm working on a fluffy one-shot about their life on Nevarro with Grogu and whether or not they're gonna expand their little clan of three, so definitely keep a look out for that!
What The World Needs Now... (Charles Xavier X F!Reader): This one might come as a surprise, but I'm working on a Part 2! It's about the growing attraction between Charles and his school's newest professor, and I'm having so much fun revisiting the 20th Century Fox X-Men Universe lol it might not be canon in the MCU, but it holds a special place in my heart!
Untitled Cobb Vanth X F!Reader: I'm so ashamed that it's taken me so long to make do on my promise to write a Cobb Vanth fic, but I finally feel confident in my outline and I can't wait for ya'll to read this, it's so damn cute!
So yeah, that’s pretty much it. Which stories or one-shots are you guys looking forward to? Let me know and don’t forget to give my fanfiction masterlist a like if you’re interested in reading any of this, I always update it after posting a new work!

It's the middle of the month and I haven't posted at least one of the requests I was supposed to start this month...
Well, I started a few of them, but I made the unfortunate decision of trying to focus on the one I was having the most difficulty with, and then started an entirely different training fic to get more familiar with a character I didn't expect to have so much difficulty getting right..

Thinking about the world that starts to take shape around Tirias's refusal to travel outside of majority-rooted areas. There's an implication that she has been there and got burned so bad that she'll never go back. She can hear but she can't speak and communicates primarily through sign language. Despite the fact that most other species do learn Osbok sign language in school, there's a much stronger culture of sign language usage in rooted areas than beyond them. You travel through the Forests, you know you'll be taken care of and taken seriously. You step outside of them, who knows what'll happen. Humans are already intimidated by her height, and asking them to use their half-remembered SOSL is apparently a step too far.
Oh, to be Ysa, even more intimidating but somehow able to put people at ease with just thons voice.
Which makes me wonder: is there a fear among human societies that the culture of the Forests - which itself is not homogenous - will take over the rest of the world? There must be on some level but it has to be harder for it to coalesce because there's an enormous population of roots that live outside of the forests, and have for pretty much ever, and nothing has happened to "human" cultures except that a lot of them also have roots participating in them, not to mention nawwenn. Some people think they're playing the long game - they live twice as long as humans, you know - but I would suspect your average human knows enough roots to reject that particular conspiracy.
So then, out of all the other species in Winchester, why has Dez only met humans?
