applying for higher education in ukraine is humbling not only because, damn, who the fuck even decides to study in ukraine (ukrainians. ehe.), but also because naming choices for education facilities are pretty unmotivational. saying i’m considering studying in ukraine catholic university is a bit funny already, but my other choice being kyiv mohyla academy really sells it.
it was named after this 16th century guy named petro mohyla, and it all would be alright if mohyla didn’t mean, absolutely literally, grave. see you in kyiv grave academy

Realizing that half the battle about having passion is doing it for the right reasons tbh. Like not for monetary gain or validation or to corroborate your image, but just to do it bc it imbues your soul and bc you want to create art and contribute in some way. I feel like from then on the curiosity just follows naturally & prompts you to study craft & truly improve as fast as you can. Tbh I love seeing the skills I want to hone as my unpaid job. If I could have infinite time I’d be balls deep in so many things I want to actually improve on
#So many!!!!#And I love not labeling myself as anything like I just want to be a student of these things#I just want to learn infinitely

Hmm, I am in a kind of reading slump right now, so does anyone have any recommendations for good books? I am specifically looking for fiction books that are explicitly not targetted at teenagers or YA.
#I mean#a lot of books get labelled as ya and it's kind of a meaningless label#but I would prefer something that is not limited to the point of view of a high school student or university first year in a western country

i just know stannis baratheon would HATE how I use him to remember the correct order for the ous/ic method of naming metals
#stannous represents tin (II) which is the lesser charge#stannis is the lesser son hence -ous means lesser and -ic means greater#chemistry teacher tingssss#methods of memorization that I CAN NOT tell my students at risk of being labelled insane#asoiaf#stannis baratheon#stoned thoughts

Where My September Babies At
There's a scene in the novel where Eddie mentions that studies show children born in the first three months of the year have distinct advantages over their later-born peers. A reader pointed out some issues with the thesis, so it's a good thing I remember where I picked that trivia up, because maybe I got it wrong!
I can go back and listen to the podcast where I heard it, but I thought I'd google around first in case I could find something faster to confirm/disprove the thesis. I didn't find what I was looking for but I did find a BUGFUCK INSANE breakdown of what is likely to a happen to a child depending on their birth month.
I make no claims to this being accurate; they absolutely do not cite their sources and the whole page reads like bad clickbait, but anyway tag yourself, I'm gonna live to be 100:
January – Higher risk of developing Crohn’s disease, epilepsy, and Alzheimer’s.
February – Increased risk for death from lung cancer.
March – Higher risk for certain kinds of heart disease.
April – Increase risk for becoming an alcoholic or developing an eating disorder.
May – Lower risk for developing chronic illness.
June – Higher risk of developing vision problems.
July – Increased risk for developing autism and asthma.
August – More likely to be labeled as a problem student.
September – More likely to live to see 100 years of age.
October – Higher risk for insect bites, chest infections, and STIs.
November – More likely to be left-handed, the risk for heart problems and lung cancer.
December – Lower risk for allergies and asthma.
#it's the super specific ones that get me#higher risk for bug bites#more likely to be labeled a problem student#LEFT HANDEDNESS#what the fuck

not gonna lie the idea of aplatonic teru has been rotating in my head all day. varis you did this to me
#mp100#my main reason for this is that he’s kind of desperate for connection (and latches onto shigeo so heavily)#while also avoiding the label of friend#like. shigeo is idol/rival. ritsu is little brother. the awakening lab are students#im a big fan of the teru shou besties agenda but ALSO. this would allow them to get weirder about it i think. so theres that#i don’t know as much as i’d like to abt what it’s like to be aplatonic so im not as sure on that front#i just. i like the idea. i think it’s neat i think he’s neat

Am I the only one that thinks that they keep nerfing Yui’s academics game by game? If I remember right, she was supposed to be good at school in a Toukuten (was it written like that?) but in the games she seems to struggle getting good grades? But maybe I remember wrong so sorry for that 🥲
// A good student, in my opinion, is one who tries to study and complete their assignments, even if they find it difficult and their results aren't always the best. For this reason, I’d call Yui a hard-working student but with average performance. Besides, it’s really uncommon to discover someone truly so intelligent that they consistently achieve academic excellence with ease.
Those group Tokutens are bonus CDs made just for funny moments, therefore it should come as no surprise that all characters will be written OOC for the sake of plottwists and giggles. Yui is the same person who literally wanted to bonk the triplets’ head with a hammer so as to make them switch back to normal in the Body Swap CD, and I truly doubt game Yui would come with such a violent idea. xD
I’m also pretty sure it’s implied that Yui has a low-learning ability, which is something very mentioned by Japanese fans, so it’s kinda obvious that she won’t be able to get some things as quick as others. I also believe everyone can succeed in every subject if they pay attention to it in class and put some additional effort BUT it's true that some lessons are tougher to catch than others, if the subject is not your strong point.
Nevertheless, I find it funny how Yui always complains about school, even in CL. Ruki and Reiji act like her parents when it comes to this and she genuinely sounds so helpless that it makes me want to tutor her too, lol.
Hey Yui… just saying, if you need help with any of the quadratic formulae, equations, or foreign languages… I'm here! 👀👉🏻👈🏻

Translations belong to: dialovers-translations and kyouxa on Tumblr
#diabolik lovers#yui komori#dialovers#komori yui#admin#(to be fair the things she’s not good at are basically all the subjects labelled as’hard’ by students)#(so… many people must relate to her here)

Had a seismic moment today where I completely reframed my outlook on ambition & started looking at it (in the context of seeing it in other people) as admirable rather than opportunistic to a fault
#To be clear ppl who only work to serve themselves exist & they’re never fun#But as a pre med student surrounded by other ambitious pre meds it’s like actually motivating to see ppl wanna make a name for themselves#And be resourceful#I think the issue only comes in when people get frugal ab their resources and gatekeep them which is like#Very rampant in pre med culture unfortunately#But not w my friends & I love that#Like we’re all very tunnel visioned on what we wanna do but we will share resources w each other always#And no question goes unanswered#We r genuinely happy to be of service to one another#This also made me think ab how I frame ambition in men vs how I do in women#But now I’m very careful about when I label ambition “annoying” like it actually is just inspiring#Esp when exhibited by generous ppl who wanna see u succeed too

I am tired of being in the DSM-V, please put me in another book. am i irritable, hyperactive and and forgetful because i have adhd or because i am a werewolf on my lunar week. is it the depression or my ancestral curse coming to bear. Is it anxiety or am I haunted by the ghosts of the city around me. let's keep some whimsy in the world plz and not make literally everything about how we're incorrect in some way.
#take mental health seriously and all that. Destigmatize it &c#But i am exhausted with this culture of pathologizing EVERYTHING.#I had a student writer make a series of character profiles and a must-have category was “disorders”#Like christ. Our personalities are not our diagnoses.#Let's chill with this trend of grouping all normal human behavior into diagnostic criteria.#I am glad you see yourself in the experiences of the mentally ill! Relating to your fellow humans is good!#But maybe take it as an opportunity to empathize FIRST rather than instantly taking the opportunity to slap another label on yourself#You don't have to be autistic/psychotic/etc to relate to and love autistic/psychotic/etc ppl#Because they're PEOPLE of COURSE you're going to relate to and understand their experiences to some extent!#You don't need to “have” a disorder to benefit from their treatment/coping strategies/etc#It's not effing chemotherapy.#What's good for the goose is good for the gander#Earplugs help people with autistic/adhd/etc sensory overload and also you??#You don't have to give yourself a diagnosis to use earplugs.#Promise.#Mental health#mental illness

over the past couple of years, my workplace has put increasing emphasis on addressing the needs of neurodivergent students in our classes, which is great, but i really wish my coworkers would stop using it as an excuse to try and armchair diagnose every child they find challenging or weird :/
#last year i had an assessment for a new student come with the comment ''does not make much eye contact. may be on the spectrum''#only for that kid to come to my class and show zero discomfort making eye contact with me or any of his peers#like girl i think he just didn't like you#it's fine if he's autistic but i don't think you should be trying to apply that label after knowing him for all of 15 minutes#in a situation where he's bound to be nervous anyway bc you're giving him a placement test#personal post

How life feels after I block the people who are obviously using AI to create their content

#[rawbin]#Please do not pollute fandom spaces with your AI content#ESPECIALLY don’t try to label it as your own.#not gonna name any names in case I’m wrong but man.#some of u barely even try to hide it 😭😭😭#I can very rarely tell when something is AI and usually need it pointed out to me so you know it’s bad when *I* can tell#It’s so inconsiderate and plainly weird to pretend as if you’ve written something when you only typed in a prompt for the AI :/#I’m not gonna judge students who use AI to help them write essays too hard cause like. I get it it’s tough#but don’t fucking use that shit for what’s meant to be CREATIVE WRITING in a fandom space it’s so gross and dishonest#I get you want recognition and you want to be known and you want to have an audience but it’ll be so much more rewarding for EVERYONE if -#- you just put in the effort to do that yourself.

Now that I think about it, my college's party scene was super shit...
#looking at reviews of it instead of cleaning#and it's reminding me of how the college itself is very...different than the stereotypical american college experience#apparently we have a “work hard work harder” social scene#the social scene is full of either athletes (our equivalent for frats/sororities since they were banned in the 80s) or#neurodivergent people. i swear when i was applying to colleges the school didn't have this reputation (or other words often used to describ#neurodivergent people like “nerdy” or “socially awkward”). but idk what the admissions committee has been doing for the past 5 years#at least for the neurodivergent part there has always been a strong athlete presence since forever. even though we're division 3...#(basically the “real” college sports that most people pay attention to in the US is label “division 1” and with each subsequent division#people give less shits about it. so division 3 is just completely irrelevant especially for sports like basketball or US football where#the NFL or NBA pick athletes from colleges. at least i think that's how it goes i don't really follow these things myself)#but the outdoorsy reputation still persists#there are parties but many of them are just. not good. i remember i went to one my freshman year and came out of it sorely disappointed#but that was probably just me every weekend many students would be sent to the ER#so unless one of my friends knew of a good party i just. didn't go because it would be a waste of time and energy#might get doxxed but whatever. y'all can take a guess at the college i'm talking about.#college#college life#uchiha-gaeshi ramblings#uchiha-gaeshi overshares#about uchiha-gaeshi#txt

during high school i took ap and ib classes. it was hard and having adhd certainly didn’t help but i would get through it by telling myself that there was always someone else doing worse than me. at some point i realized that in those classes there wasn’t anyone doing worse than me, i was the someone else doing worse. and i never really recovered from that realization

so I do research in an ecology group right and that’s where I do my acorn study. there’s like 7 of us in the group and I sent us all out to do acorn collections last week and we collected from all of our sites except our control and grazed sites because our lead prof was saving those for her class to do acorn collections for me. So obviously people in the research group have a little more know how with collections so as I’m going through my class collected bags I find THIS

THAT IS NOT AN ACORN!!!

#students were mislabeling trees and putting empty bags in other bags without labels it was killing me#this was not a big deal tho it was mostly funny. I understood why they picked it up cuz in TCS we tell peeps just to pick shit up#because it’s my job to sort through them
