idia was an absolute treasure this update. you agree.
Idia really went "time for me to be a hero! but in, like, a super meta way" and if that isn't incredibly in-character then what is.

If any non-writers want to have a glimpse into what it's actually like to write, then here. I've been stuck on this lame half-sentence for approximately thirteen days now.

#rambly little life updates in the tags. just chatting!#anyways this last little bit of Method Acting isn't going to be much over ~2k and I actually mean it this time.#I know I go over projected word counts constantly but I really think I know what I need to do with this and it shouldn't take long#and yet I can't get it down. I've got some parts of it in another doc but it's not cohering yet.#Why do I have to have an actual life that I need to do things in? why can't I just stare at google docs 24/7???#worrying about life stuff is my number one writing block inducer and unfortunately it's a busy time of year.#I'm finishing my degree in the next month which is great but the job market is... not the best right now ❤️ which is stressful.#so I guess I'll have a lot more time on my hands soon but I'm not really happy about it lol. I'd rather be employed but alas.#I live in a federal worker heavy area so you can imagine that the local job market is a little chaotic and crowded at the moment.#lots of very experienced people are back to job searching right now.#I think I'll do some volunteering with either the library or some clerical work with the local fire/rescue squad and see how that goes.#I need to pad my resume. I HAD a good one to go into the veterinary field but that derailed circa 2020#and unfortunately I don't know how far I'll get in non-medical non-animal fields with a skillset like 'reading dog radiographs'#or 'proficient in catching and handling reptiles'. they don't really need that in a hotel receptionist.#well. nobody THINKS they need that until there's a rat snake where it doesn't belong (which is their favorite place to be) but I digress.#so anyways now I'm kind of aimlessly wielding a gen studies degree amidst a collapsing... well. everything. a collapsing everything.#but hey. I've got The Characters to get me through it.#if nothing else then I have some yeehaw escapism and other wips/some oneshot ideas to start messing around with.#this got very off topic but oversharing online is ALSO something I've got to get me through it 😅#we do what we can these days.

I really like this russian edition of classic books. Letting famous artists do the covers in YA style was such a simple but clever decision. According to the recent study the number of teenage readers increased, possibly thanks to these covers. I own traditional classics with blank covers but if I ever see one of these in the wild, it’ll probably make me go feral.

There was something outside.
Fox could feel it, even through the walls of the building and his sleeping pod, his thin blanket doing nothing to keep the knowledge of it away. The knowledge that it was there, in the dark, roaming around the city, looking for something.
Fox had tried to pretend that he couldn't feel it, like some nights there wasn't a whisper pressing against his skin, like the longer the night went, the harder it became to ignore. He had tried, to no avail. Every time he could feel it coming, like there was something casting a shadow over them all, long before it would arrive.
The Long-necks didn't seem to know that it was there. There were no security measures against it, as far as Fox knew, and it had never came up in any of their training modules. But it was there, Fox knew it.
It was there again, right now. Fox listened to the drumming of the rain against the windows, baiting his breath, for any kind of noise coming from it, but there was only silence waiting in the middle of the pouring storm.
But it was there. Fox could feel it. It was roaming around the city, silently and endlessly, and it was looking for something.
Fox slid out of his pod, and quietly made his way through their room, and climbed up to the window.
There were almost no lights on at this hour of the night, only the loneliest signal light in the far end of the bridge, casting a harsh, red gleam at the hard ground. Fox could feel it there, somewhere outside of the reach of the light, coming closer. Slowly, but surely, it was coming.
Fox waited. He pressed the tips of his fingers against the window, and he waited, the pressure of it becoming ever more present against his skin, and there was a long moment there where Fox thought he forgot how to breathe.
Something moved in the room behind his back, and Fox glanced over his shoulder, just for a second, and when he turned back, it was there.
It stood just at the edge of the light, making a hard, black line over the red on the ground. It didn't look human. It looked almost nothing like all. It was a large, hunched dark mass of a being, like a cloack of skin had been draped over a mound of something, hiding whatever was under it.
The only things Fox could make out of it were its huge, long fingered arms, resting againts its sides, and the pair of small, white eyes at the middle of what he thought must've been its head.
Fox couldn't tell where it was looking, but he got the feeling that it was looking almost right at him. Just a moment, and it would see him there, looking at it.
He was cold. Very, very cold.
There was a hand on his shoulder, so warm that it almost scorched him, and Fox barely managed to swallow down the yell that was threatening to burst out of his throat. It pulled him away from the window, down towards the floor, and another hand joined it, grabbing Fox tightly at his wrist.
"What are you doing?" Cody hissed at him, forcefully tugging Fox against himself, locking him pressed at his side. "Don't look at it!"
Fox felt suddenly very, very afraid.
"I'm sorry", he whispered, strangled, as hot tears started to burn the corners of his eyes.
Cody only pulled him closer, pressing his head on top of Fox's and circling his arms behind Fox's back, like he was trying to shield Fox from it and everything else around them.
"Ponds alreadly looked at it", Cody whispered back at him, like Fox didn't already know that. Like Fox didn't know how it never left Ponds alone anymore, how it was always there, at the edge of his brother's dreams. Like Fox didn't know how Ponds was always cold, now. "I can't have you look at it as well."
"I'm sorry", Fox said again, and pressed himself tightly against Cody as he felt it there, felt it standing there, silently, looking. Looking for something.
For a brief, terrifying moment, Fox thought that it was looking for him.

Okay, but where are the numbers from? And from when? New England is the most secular region of the country so it seems strange to see it classified as 21 to 25% Catholic or more.
(I would be really happy if more than 25% of the population of New England was Catholic, but it just doesn't match up with anything else I know about the region).

Good Trans News Roundup! July 8, 2025
"North Carolina Gov. Josh Stein (D) has vetoed several anti-diversity bills, including one that would ban gender-affirming care for transgender inmates in the state prison system.
The bill is H.B. 805, which bans the state from paying for gender-affirming hormone replacement therapy and surgeries for transgender inmates. It would have also required the state to keep a copy of a transgender person’s original birth certificate if they have the gender marker on it updated, and it included language saying that there are only two genders, male and female...
The other three bills that Stein vetoed on Thursday [July 3, 2025] were related to diversity measures. One of the bills would have cut funding to schools that engage in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. Another bill would have banned diversity training and staff positions at state agencies, and it also would have banned state funds from being used for diversity initiatives at those agencies."

"A three-judge panel for the Ohio Tenth District Court of Appeals ruled that gender-affirming care for minors constitutes an essential medical treatment for trans youth and that the ban on gender-affirming care is in violation of a state constitutional amendment. Originally passed by Republicans to undermine Obamacare, the amendment is now being used to prevent federal or state intervention in denying any form of essential healthcare...
In a smart move, the plaintiffs argued that gender-affirming treatment be considered essential medical treatment, pointing to the numerous medical studies proving its effectiveness in treating gender dysphoria and improving the mental health and well-being of transgender adolescents. For that reason, they argued, it should protected under Ohio’s Health Care Freedom Amendment.
...In [passing the constitutional amendment], they inadvertently gave Ohioans broader constitutional protections around healthcare because the amendment prohibits any law from banning “the purchase or sale of health care or health insurance” or even imposing a fine on such purchases."

"Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs (D) vetoed three anti-transgender bills passed by her state’s Republican legislators. Though the bills passed largely along party lines, Republicans are unlikely to override Hobbs’ veto since their numbers in the state House and Senate fall short of the required two-thirds majority votes needed to do so. Arizona is largely considered a red state...
Of the three bills, H.B. 2438 would have prevented any gender marker changes on people’s birth certificates (even if they underwent gender-affirming surgeries), S.B. 1694 would have denied funding to any college or university teaching about “gender identity,” and H.B. 2062 would have ended all legal recognition of trans people in the state...
Transgender journalist Erin Reed noted that, in 2023, Hobbs signed executive orders requiring state employee healthcare plans to cover trans-related gender affirming surgeries, extending LGBTQ+ anti-discrimination protections to state employees and contractors, and banning conversion therapy, the widely debunked pseudoscientific practice of attempting to change someone’s gender identity or sexual orientation. Republicans threatened to sue her over the anti-discrimination protections..."

"An anti-trans measure in US president Donald Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act has been dropped at the last minute in a small victory for the LGBTQ+ community.
The legislation struck the ban on Medicaid coverage for gender-affirming care after the Senate parliamentarian found it did not comply with the Byrd Rule.
Named after Senator Robert Byrd, the Byrd Rule aims to prevent irrelevant matters from being included in budget reconciliation legislation...
In earlier drafts, the so-called “Big, Beautiful Bill” included a provision that would have ended Medicaid payments for “gender transition procedures” for people of all ages, and introduced narrowly rigid definitions of “sex,” “female,” and “male” that some experts believe would have far-reaching implications, beyond access to healthcare. However, amid a flurry of revisions and amendments, the controversial ban on gender-affirming care was removed shortly before Senate Republicans voted to pass the legislation on Tuesday.
Though there are many other aspects of the bill that will severely limit millions of Americans’ access to healthcare, trans rights advocates see the removal of the ban on Medicaid coverage of gender-affirming care as a win. [Note: Over 20% of trans people are on Medicaid Source]

"Billie Butler, a transgender woman who ran for the New Hampshire House of Representatives as a Democrat, defeated her opponent, Republican Ken Hilton, in a special election held this past Tuesday. Butler won with 964 votes to Hilton’s 774. Butler will be representing the Strafford 12 district.
Strafford 12 is a multi-member district in Strafford County, consisting of two towns: Rollinsfield and Somersworth. Of the registered voters in the districts, 33% identify as Democrats, 27% identify as Republicans, and 41% are unaffiliated...
According to this map created by independent journalist Erin Reed, New Hampshire is a high-risk state for legislation that could harm transgender people... For this reason, Butler’s win is considered a step towards increased trans representation in politics."

"Delaware’s Democratic governor on Friday signed an executive order protecting recipients and providers of gender-affirming care in the state.
The order, signed by Gov. Matt Meyer at an LGBTQ+ community center in Rehoboth, makes Delaware a “shield state” for trans people and bans state agencies from providing “medical records, data or billing information, or utilizing state resources” that could help any criminal or civil investigation against someone receiving or providing gender-affirming care.
California, New York, and 12 other states, and Washington, DC, have similar protections for trans people and their medical providers. Residents, along with patients traveling to shield states, can receive care without fear of retribution.
“In Delaware, we cherish privacy, dignity and the right to make personal medical decisions,” Meyer said at the signing ceremony. “Everyone deserves the freedom to access healthcare rooted in science and compassion.”"

"The number of out LGBTQ+ elected representatives in the U.S. rose in the last year, continuing a steady upward trend that has lasted through the Trump era, according to a new report.
On Tuesday, the LGBTQ+ Victory Institute released its annual Out for America report, which tracks the number of out LGBTQ+ elected representatives nationwide and at all levels of government. This year’s report showed an overall 2.4% increase in out LGBTQ+ representation between June 2024 and May 2025 and a 198% increase since the organization, which provides training and support for out candidates, first launched the report in 2017 (during President Donald Trump’s first term in office).
“This year’s Out for America report shows the resilience of our LGBTQ+ elected leaders,” LGBTQ+ Victory Institute President and CEO Evan Low said in a statement. “Despite hateful rhetoric plaguing the 2024 election cycle, LGBTQ+ elected officials won at the ballot box and made history.” ...
According to the 2025 report, the number of out LGBTQ+ elected officials of color rose by nearly 7% since last year. The number of out Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) elected officials grew the most (32.6%), while the number of multiracial officials increased by 28.6%, and the number of Black representatives grew by just over 4%. LGBTQ+ Latinx representatives remain the largest non-white group of out elected officials, holding steady at 193, the same as last year’s total..."

"The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Yeztugo (aka. lenacapavir or LEN), a twice-a-year injection that stops HIV from replicating inside cells, thereby reducing the risk of transmitting the virus to other people by 96%. HIV advocates hope it will help reduce national transmission rates because the medication is easier to take than the many current once-a-day medications.
“This is the single best opportunity in 44 years of HIV prevention,” said Mitchell Warren, executive director of the AIDS Vaccine Advocacy Coalition (AVAC), an HIV advocacy nonprofit group, according to NBC News. The FDA approved the drug after Gilead Sciences, the drug’s developer, found it to be overwhelmingly successful early into Phase 3 clinical trials last September.
“The approval of LEN is a much-needed boost for HIV prevention, given the strength of the science and the simultaneous disruption in HIV programs globally,” Warren added."

Ok but actually if I remember correctly 5.5 is about a half inch larger than the mode. (5.1 is the exact mid point) and the standard deviation is like .5 inches. Meaning that most men have a dick size that is greater than 3.5 and less than 6.6 inches. More than half of men are between 6.1 and just about 4” people who have 8” dicks are so far out the norm that we don’t even put numbers to it but it’s about six standard deviations away which is a *lot*. To give people perspective 1 standard deviation represents 68% of all the data(men), 2 represents 95%, 3 standard deviations represents 97.7%. There are very few people with 7 inch penises.
I think a lot of people treat 6” as the bar which is absurd. Like aside from the fact that nothing here can be medium and average(I mean your talking about a body part those would be rude words in this context to begin with) but the fucking audacity to say that your looking for big is like you realize that most men don’t have 6 inches on them?
Personally I think it’s funny to recommend that men get a dildo and strap if they are having trouble because:
Men have the best reaction when they realize they can have any dick size. It’s liberating from the normal dick size standard. And it can be the first step men take to using sex toys - win win.
We can covertly be trans inclusive with slogans like “if natural doesn’t work man-made is fine”. I mean this isn’t just about trans men, but not all men have dicks is a true statement about cis men and is also true about trans men.
We can challenge people’s assumptions about how dicks affect someone’s sex life.
On that last one I think that it’s kind of important cause like idk. I saw a tic tok where a woman pulled out a ruler and 6” is much larger when it’s going down there. This is for everyone. I’ve met a few size queens in my day that I knew for sure could handle just about anything. But like once you start to go big, you actually have to train for and do a bunch of prep. Sure most of my experience is with men, but I don’t recommend going in cold or blind.
Also for men who are on the extremes of the spectrum it’s important because it might not be possible to have traditional sex without it. Like I think we can all understand that a guy with a sub 1” inches is going to struggle with traditional sex but at the same time I think people fail to consider how much a big dick will hurt or stop sex. Girth is a prime consideration, but it’s also worth noting that the uterus does not liked to be touched and will let you know.
One last consideration is that a lot of this talk is aimed at people trying to please their partners and I think this is a healthy approach. I do think men need to on average consider their partners more, especially in the bedroom. But I worry because this view is very objectifying. While all of these things are useful, they all serve a purpose, they remove the fact that these people are human and not objects. Dicks are body part. They are attached to a body who is a person. Especially when we talk about pleasure.
As a trans man who has had to put painstaking work into body positivity, body neutrality, and my own sense of manhood, I can't help but feel so bad for men who have, seemingly, never felt permission to have any positive feelings about their body and their manhood.
Yes, body positivity and body neutrality are for you, men. You owe nobody washboard abs, or beautiful facial hair, or clear skin, or unblemished skin, or "masculine" features. Genuinely, you are under no obligation to perform any of it. The weight of those expectations is genuinely suffocating. Let yourself remove that yoke from your shoulders and actually live.

“From Rubble to Hope: Help a Gaza Family Reclaim Their Future”
Dear Friends,
Imagine waking up one day to find your entire life reduced to rubble. This is the reality my family and I now face. My name mahmoud esmail a 20-year-old Palestinian from Gaza—and this is the story of how a single bombing changed everything for us.
Our home, once a place of warmth and hope, was destroyed in a single moment. Along with it, we lost not only our shelter but everything that made life bearable—our belongings, our books, our tools, and even the medical equipment my siblings used in their studies.
This is our beautiful house after it was bombed. We miraculously survived, thanks to God.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is our beautiful house after it was bombed. We miraculously survived, thanks to God.
My sister, who was studying medicine, had their dreams shattered when they could no longer attend university. I was also forced to postpone my education. What used to be days filled with learning and striving for a better future turned into endless struggles to secure the basics – food, water, and safety.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On top of this, my youngest sister, Aya, who is only 7 years old, now suffers from constant anxiety, panic attacks, and overwhelming fear. The terrifying sounds of bombings and explosions have left her emotionally scarred. Every night, she wakes up crying, unable to sleep, as the trauma haunts her little heart.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Today, we have nothing left. The dreams we worked so hard to build have been shattered, replaced by an overwhelming sense of loss and hopelessness.
But we refuse to give up. With your help, we can begin to rebuild. Your generosity can help us secure shelter, basic necessities, and the opportunity to resume our education. We hope to raise $70,000 to rebuild our lives and give Aya, and the rest of my family, a sense of safety and hope again.
Vetted by @gazavetters, my number verified on the list is ( #437 )✅️
Every donation, no matter how small, brings us closer to hope. Together, we can turn our pain into progress and give my family a second chance.
Donation now please 🙏
Your support is more than just a donation—it’s a lifeline for a family that refuses to give up on their dreams.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Please share our story with your friends and family—it means more than words can express.
