DO THEY EVERRRRRRRRR. SO BAD. both of them btw. they're both horrifically overprotective. and both of them are so okay with that ✨

they actually don't have jealousy issues fkcjdndks. both of them have close friends (RTE has Bluescreen, Bumblebee, Starscream, Knockout, and Soundwave lowkey, Blitzwing has Lugnut bc that's the ONLY other bot who can handle him) but like. they're so obsessed with each other, there's no concern from either of them. no one else is as good as each other.

they're just viciously protective 💖 RTE does not need protecting by any means but they LOVE letting Blitzy fight for them. it's enrichment for him and they get to watch him show off. what did you say about his conjunx ??? he doesn't need an excuse to fight but OH MAN. talk shit get HIT. but also just "this one's for you, babe" type shit (he Would Not Say That. you get the idea tho). RTE is so overprotective it's an actual issue and Blitzy is perfectly fine with that. do you want me to kill that guy for you? please let me kill that guy for you. don't even LOOK at my conjunx I will fucking eat you and it will not be pleasant for you. like I'm so serious when I say Blitz and RTE are "get yo fuckin dog bitch" "it don't bite" "YES IT DO"

Blitzwing of course loves RTE's unapologetically feral energy-- like, actually feral, growling teeth bared fighting a bot. no one else even wants to keep up with Blitzy's unhinged behavior, but he has to keep up with RTE. (and they're softer towards those they like, but Blitz gets the genuine soft RTE. something something you could tear me apart with those sharp teeth yet bite so gently) (he's also the only one who can really reign them in. even Starscream can't always keep RTE in line but if Blitz said down boy RTE would do it. they'd probably argue with him about it but they'd be sitting on the floor while they talked back. Blitzwing does not feel inclined to do this unless it's something to do with Megatron and they both really need to keep it together.)

RTE somewhat similarly loves that Blitzwing won't hesitate with them (and can handle the same attitude in exchange!). RTE's a small, light frame with a hairtrigger temper and everything about them tends to make the average bot handle them carefully (or not at all). it's beneficial to be underestimated or simply not bothered in the first place but Blitzwing has never second guessed being rough with them. the constant bickering, the playfighting, even the way Blitz will literally throw RTE into the middle of a fight-- RTE isn't some fragile thing, and Blitz has always been on the same page about it. (not that RTE minds being Starscream's pet rat, Bumblebee's quiet music buddy, or even Bluescreen's listener-- Blitzwing is just the bot they 100% don't need to hold back with.) (RTE has a lot of B names in their circle. and S names. we need some variety around here 😂😂)

3. What work are you most proud of (regardless of kudos/hits)?

im really happy w a petal on a stream! i think i really captured the emotional beats i was trying to hit w it, both from astarion's pov, and from gale's, even through the outside perspective. speaking of the perspective, i love how i wrote the way neither of them tell each other anything, so they keep making assumptions abt each other's feelings and behaviors based on their existing preconceptions abt themselves and each other, meaning they keep misinterpreting and making everything worse instead of just talking. like obviously you always have to keep character beliefs/motivations in mind when writing anything, but for this one i really focused in on that element of making sure i could follow the exact line of thought that brought gale and astarion to say and do every single thing they did. (usually my big long explicit fics get way more kudos/hits than my other fics but i think bloodweave is so popular the tag gets updated too often for a oneshot to get any decent traction LOL)

23. Did you do any collaborative works this year?

a petal on a stream actually got beta read! HowlsRightEarring really helped me out w teasing out the secondary motif of nature in that fic, which i didnt notice until they pointed out that i kept bringing up the dirt over and over lol. i really love the contrast between life (nature) and death (gale's suicidality and astarion's vampirism), between grounded mortality (the plants and animals) and fantastical immortality (gale and mystra and the astral plane, and astarion again being a vampire). overall their feedback was super invaluable

28. Favorite work you wrote this year?

i would stop answering w a petal on a stream but thats really the main thing i wrote this year lmfao. and it is my favorite bc i. worked through a lot of emotions through gale in that one lol i keep going back to it bc it was the exact kind of fic i wanted to read, and there were only a few gale fics (such as self-same by ajaystillblue) that really satisfied that craving for watching gale suffer

U thought as u finally got on it u heard a scream somewhere in the sky, and u spotted Dvalin carrying Venti/Barbatos, and once again book it out of town (damn u cant believe theyre so committed they got the dragon in on it…)

so u haul ass all the way down the mountain, traveling only at night, living like a vampire, holing up during the day when u see Mond citizens/knights/gods/etc. walking around presumably looking for you

but u make it, finally! sweet, sweet Liyue, ur 2nd home (besides Mondstadt)

Only to immediately, like right outside the fucking gates to Liyue Harbor, run into Zhongli.

and he’s standing there like this mf knew u were coming, and the first thing out his mouth is some BS like, “…Darnell, that you??”/ref LMAOO

but instead of laughing abt it u just scream and run for your life haha

sure u maybe hate Celestia a little, and sympathize with the traveler, but this seems a little extreme?!

you go to the one place u know he/any other adeptus doesnt like to come often, Azdaha’s cave

and after a night (well, day bc ur sleeping during the day now) of Azdaha sleeping peacefully, he wakes up fully coherent and u actaully have a rlly pleasant conversation with him about Liyue food lol

he also kept mentioning some kind of god? but like in reference to you?? are u connected to them, u kinda know a lot of gods atp so ur not sure which he means, a god to rule them all??? Celestia?? yeah u guess u know those fucks-

Cue u looking down from ur perch in the stalagmites above, u found a ledge and Azdaha helped you,

only to see a very concerned and borderline nervous Zhongli down below, Azhdaha just greets him like nothing’s wrong, but as soon as he sees you’re uncomfortable, helps you escape (more like teleport) away

(the old geo archon was probably nervous just be around Azhdaha u assume)

and now ur on the islands of Inazuma

u know exactly what islands are all but abandoned, the ghost one, the electrocuting one, and the scary bird one, all great options 👍

Raiden and Yae Miko manage to find you on every single one, with Yae getting more and more exasperated, and Ei getting more and more concerened with every position they find you in

hanging out on the banks of the electro river that would kill you if it weren’t for the little electro trees fending it off (thank fuck u maxed that shit out while in game)

bc u assumed they’d hate to be around it, plus lots of ronin- nope Ei is almost… scolding you?? oh but she’s got her Musou no Hitotachi out fuCK-

(she was slaying ronins that were getting too close to you)

she also is constantly jumpscaring you on tsurumi island/ghost island bc while the ghosts are gone, the creepy atmosphere isn't, and it makes her all the more terrifying as The Raiden Shogun comes walking out of the fog into the cave you've hidden in, stuff of ur nightmares for weeks as u just bird box style try to be silent and stealth around the island to get to an abandoned boat,

literally her scary ass purple sword glowing silhouette wandering around in the fog as you paddle away 💀

getting to thunder bird island and Yae Miko is literally both running/teleporting as quickly as she can to you, as you jump from floating rock to floating rock to escape her, god its so unnerving to watch someone so lazy running after you

she keeps getting in this weird “praising the heavens pose” sometimes when you jump, oh shit she’s aiming hER ATTACKS AT YOU THATS WHY-

oh good- she missed and deflected some stray debris coming ur way, u gotta get to the bird area and see if you can glide away (u managed to get a glider at some point thank fuck)

the bird is luckily on ur side against all these mfs trying to hunt u down (for controlling their bodies u guess) and flies u back to mainland teyvat

sumeru u thought would have the most mercy on u tbh, maybe fontaine bc Neuvillette only rlly cares if u break “fontaine” laws, maybe he wouldn't care to chase down a mortal like u over this

and nahida bc shes just nice

which is somewhat true, as you are acting like tarzan swinging around on vines and shit to escape the forest rangers

but she does show up in ur dreams, but shes just all foggy or distorted, u guess bc ur not of this world or smth??

and so it just unnerves u more, and u try to make it out to the desert, where at least there's no gods to worry about

mf ur hunkered down in a pyramid and see the shadowy shape of Cyno walking thru a sandstorm at you 💀

U dont kno how u got out of that one tbh, smth abt “king deshret made a plan for this” and left it behind for ppl to use to escape underground, sweet

And while Nahida and other eremites, scholars like Alhaitham/Kaveh/Dehya were looking around the desert sands, u slip by them

And u make it to the oasis at the edge of the desert, and steal an old rowboat to cross to fontaine (if i had a nickel everytime u needed to escape a god via old rowboat, youd have 2 nickels- )

and getting to Fontaine is not much better.

U literally get to the clockwork tower, foggy, ominous, uninhabited except for treasure-seekers occasionally, its perfect

until Neuvillette himself just strolls in abt 3 nights of u making camp there

u nearly shit urself as he just fake-knocked on a wall, meanwhile ur like hanging from the ceiling (four limbs out suspending you type of fictional shit)

luckily, mostly bc u were trying to wait him out (which wasn't possible ur limbs hurt so bad) he was, finally, the first person around u long enough to be genuinely kind and patient and answer questions

(Neuvillette acc couldn't figure out where u were at first, and was very confused how u got ur voice to boom around this chamber of the tower, after a minute of talking u trusted him enough to tell him to look up lol)

just in time too, he was able to hide u from the archons a little longer bc u were nervous

(u were already intimidated enough by Neuvillette being irl himself, talking to you, let alone all the other gods/vision users, as u realized afterwards thinking abt all the ppl trying to “hunt u down”, that if they all counted as ppl actually wanting to see you, that was a rlly overwhelming amount, esp if their first instinct is to run at you??? what are you, a fan-abused/disrespected kpop idol????)

Alright, so I just read through that language barriers post of yours and had a Blast Tm, BUT! Now I have several thoughts that need to be spoken. Firstly, what with english being this really ancient language now, yn‘s basically got a free phd in hyrule, don‘t they?? Predestined for exploration because of their „excellent skills with the language used in the ruins and temples of old, as well as their familiarity with the mechanisms“ or something. The ruin researchers probably beg to have them in their team.

Secondly, apparently accents are really appealing to some people? The chain already finds yn‘s morning voice really hot, but how would they even react to the way they sort of mispronounce the words? Idk too much about how japanese sounds, but maybe they emphasize the consonants too much which makes them sound harsh all the time, or the opposite, too much emphasis on vowels and sounding very soft. Just… brainrot about rambling and not trying too hard to speak perfectly accurately being all it takes to have the boys smitten and kicking their feet.

Thirdly!! What about a yn that knows multiple languages? The chain tries their best to learn english, and then yn comes around the corner like SIKE. THAT‘S NOT ALL OF THEM. YOU WILL NEVER COMPREHEND IT ALL. (That‘s what I‘d do at least.)

the way Legend, Hyrule, Four, and Twi hover a little closer when you talk

Wild and Twi are practically like excited dogs whenever you speak, perking up when they hear your deep voice, u know, bc u tried randomly talking in the evenings abt nothing and watched them pavlov respond and look to you every time

even when u just started talking about the grass or some flowers

lowkey you accidentally almost mess up their dungeon exploring bc theyre just so used to your accented voice in their heads, just around them, or smth guiding them along, that when they all split up into smaller groups in the dungeon,

each Link pair accidentally starts following a man's voice echoing in the dungeon until they all accidentally converge in a main room and the Link equivalent of the point spiderman meme happens with you in the center with Time, who had been your dungeon buddy (he's laughing at them as every Link goes a little red after realizing they just followed you unconciously)

ur favorite thing to do is leaning down to whisper in each of the pointed hylian ears randomly, just talking about mundane or random things and watching it twitch, some trying to stay still like Time/Twi/Wars/Wild, while others leap away like u burned them lmao Legend/Hyrule/Four, and Sky managing to do both, trying to maintain composure before he inevitably breaks out all red and hides in his hands lmao

(Wind dared you to do it originally, and he snickers every time he sees you doing it again lol)

well i was actually referring to Chuuya’s coat in that post, but it’s relevant to both to them!

i’ve noticed a trend with harukawa & coats… when someone is where they’re supposed to be, they usually wear their coat properly (arms in the sleeves instead of it resting on their shoulders)

Dazai never wore the oversized, black coat that Mori gave him properly… as if to symbolize that he’d never belonged in the mafia. once he decided to try living in the light, he got his tan coat, which fits him perfectly :’)

beast Dazai does wear the black coat correctly, bc the mafia is where he chose to be in that universe

then we have Chuuya. he had his jacket in the sheep, but until sometime pre-dark era/post dragon head conflict, he didn’t have a coat— as if he was still trying to find his place in the mafia

i have a hc/theory according to my analysis that something happened post DHC that made skk much closer. if that’s true, it would make sense why we finally see Chuuya wearing a coat— & not only that, he has it halfway on

bc his partnership with Dazai solidified his place in the mafia, & assuming that Dazai would be there indefinitely, Chuuya was probably (subconsciously) starting to solidify the mafia as where he’s supposed to be

but then Dazai left. and the next time we see Chuuya, he’s still wearing his coat (he did decide that the mafia is his family, after all) but he’s not wearing it properly, it hangs off of his shoulders

this could symbolize that the mafia isn’t where Chuuya is meant to be— that maybe in the future, he’ll leave & find His Place (or perhaps he’ll wander & never find it)

only time will tell…

but that’s my version of The Coats Theory :’)

(ps: notice how Chuuya wears a jacket that fits him when he works with Dazai in the meursault arc… 👀 we’ll have to wait & see if this means anything)

honorable mention for Akutagawa who also properly wears his coat— symbolizing that the mafia is most likely where he’s supposed to be. however the fact that he’s no longer wearing his coat in chapter 120 (having gotten a new outfit) shows us that he’s having an important moment in his character arc :’)

johnny's a freight diesel and the jang are his freight (ollie = boxcar, stephen = aircraft flatcar, rj = coil car) and max is a single-unit streetcar! tbh he gives me coach vibes but in this au spectrals = engines, so streetcar is the best of both worlds

they're super fun to bounce off each other bc johnny's used to playing rough and working in large groups and max is used to avoiding things and being a solo operation! he doesn't have couplers at all which freaks everyone else out when he shows up in the yard for the first time. billy luigi-style gripping ensures. he's also dual-power which is like. johnny is really struggling with the concept someone help him

johnny: diesel's the best bc you don't gotta follow that stupid wire everywhere

max: steps off the electrified line

also bc max is so young he's still rly bad at controlling his magnetism. he's gotten himself stuck to things/other rolling stock on several occasions. trolley pole stands in as a replacement for his bat :)

meanwhile johnny has a ton of exposed engine vents bc he thinks it looks cool and the jang + max will drop random stuff in them to see how long it'll take to melt for funsies

oh cute thing! max is technically doodlebug-adjacent but gets annoyed when he's called that that so ofc johnny does just to tease him. it eventually winds up being genuinely affectionate. max doesn't hate it nearly as much as he pretends to

since johnny's heavy rail as opposed to max's light rail they'll do this thing where they'll couple up with him in front to build up speed so max can use the momentum to do sick flips trax style. enrichment for trains

I'm not the best at headcanons but I made a post wayyy back where I was talking about their book tastes, and I think they'd have a little detective fiction book club!! But Cass is into cosies like Agatha Christie whereas Duke is into American hardboiled a la Raymond Chandler, and they'd argue a lot about which genre is better. Also, they don't read books at the same time anymore because Duke gets really focused on solving the mystery before it's revealed which in turn sparks Cass' competitive spirit and then they're both competing to solve the murder and forget to enjoy the book. So they've decided the club is just reading together in silence, sipping hot chocolate 💖. And sometimes if they get tired of reading Duke will play some heavy metal for Cass to dance to!!

One interesting thing about them is their respective views on family. Cass' morality is so predicated on the belief that children do not have to be like their parents, whereas Duke's outlook is steeped in honouring and furthering his parents' legacy. And they can both project these ideas onto other people - Cass with the various children she meets in Batgirl (2000), and Duke with his somewhat snide comments on other people's families in WAR and Gotham Nights. In certain scenarios, I can see this being a point of tension for them. I ALSO very much miss their siblinghood from Outsiders, I really hope he shows up in BG 24 soon!!!

Thinking about BG 24, Cass associating Duke with 'hope' is sooo important to me. It's something that doesn't quite come across in Outsiders, but Duke as a character is BUILT on hope. All throughout Snyder's writing of Duke and We Are Robin, Duke is a symbol for hope, rehabilitation, and belief in Gotham as a city. Cass pulling that out as her main takeaway from Duke is so MAGICAL. Like it shows such a deep level of respect & understanding of Duke and what he stands for!!! And hope is a trait also built into Cass' character, a fundamental tenet of her belief in redemption. This hope that people can and will be better is ingrained in both of them, and that's why although I think they do butt heads, they ultimately love each other so much and connect to each other so well.

ANYWAY I'm eagerly anticipating the next Duke + Cass interaction, may it come soon!!!

ironically he's supposed to be more of a support figure rather than actual device of war (at least in the first arc) but the single eye looks literally horrifying at the wrong angle☠️

not sure how i want to design the decals on the visor yet. "SENT-02" is the stock identity (shortened SENTINEL-02), triangle is the simplified USEAF logo, and the external vision assistants on either side of his head will have the product designation "LAN-NG-BP459MK1" engraved on them (Learning ArtAI Neurovessel - New Generation - BluePrint 459 Mark1) might switch the places of the stock and product though. hm.

first of all, this coverrrr..... gorgeous captiving beautiful beyond belief i have to include it on principle bc it is stunning. i doooooo have to say i'm not generally a fan of his modern long-haired design, mostly bc artists tend to give him this flowy Legolas style hair w Zero texture ughhhhhh. but i love how curly and beautiful it's drawn here <33

i also adoreeeee how he's drawn in the GL hate crimes crossover he looks soooo sweet and charming and he just RADIATES kindness. i mean just look at that smile. imo modern Connor is missing that gentle, endearing boy-next-door kind of vibe and i'd Kill to see a return to the heart of him. plus no evil green colonizer eyes to be seen 🙏

if i had to pick a favourite connor design/art style, it would be this one!! the one thing i do take issue with is that the colorist could stand to go a little darker – but his skin isn't outrageously pale, and it actually looks natural! like a tone an actual human being would have! which is better than many colorists can say for themselves. god, the bar is so low.

i actually quite like how he's penciled during the hard travelling heroes arc as well, though it's ruined by the god-awful coloring job (grey-green skin + the dreaded colonizer eyes 💔). it was disappointing + insulting enough that i actually edited a new version.

i went with his modern coloring for this edit, but in truth i'm still not sure how i feel about platinum blond Connor. i don't dislike it, but i also don't think a Connor design necessarily needs super light hair. he can have darker blonde or even reddish hair and still look like Connor so long as you capture his personality + energy, which i find modern depictions rarely do.

i also liked Jim Aparo's design quite a bit!! i love the wavy texture in his hair and his strong jawline, and above all i like that he looks his age. DC has a way of drawing Connor that makes him look much older than he logically should be, even as the rest of the cast are de-aged, so i appreciate it when he looks like the brave, slightly naive young man that he is. that said, the coloring was disappointing (lightened skin + evil colonizer eyes strike again 😔)

so these were some of my favourite Connor designs over the years!! the list is non-exhaustive & i'm sure more examples will occur to me later once i've already hit post, but i think my top favourites are all here!

one thing i hope people take away from this post is that your Connor designs don't have to begin and end with the post-52 era!! you can draw his hair shorter, darker, more textured!! you can draw him charming, friendly, youthful! you not only can give him beautiful brown eyes, but Should – those evil green colonizer eyes need not reign forever. and let's leave his white-washed days in the past where they belong 🙏

is smoker!geto real?? 🤔 i see him as the type to smoke 500 packs in one day when he’s REALLY stressed (being a mother and a cuntress 24/7 is hard work😞😞) he’d probably NEVER let you touch a cigarette tho especially if you never smoked before, he cares abt u too much </33

SMOKER!SUGU IS MY GUILTY PLEASURE. i can’t lie 😔😔 though i also love the idea of him quitting for reader….. feels like something he would do.

but. the thought of him lighting a cigarette… holding it between his fingers, blowing the smoke out slowly and speaking in a slightly raspy voice afterwards….. 😵‍💫 yeah. unfortunately he has bewitched me. you’re soooo right though, he’d never let you smoke!!! he’d get so upset with you if you tried to 💀 could be annoying but he means well… he really is just sooo overprotective and that includes protecting you from yourself + his own cigarettes. lmao.

i think he also tries not to smoke much at all when he’s around you — if you’re on a drive and he feels the urge then he pulls over at a gas station, buys you a snack and a drink, and has himself a quick little smoke break somewhere he can still see you through the car window :3c he loves you. but to reiterate i really do think he’d quit for you. especially if his smoking makes you worried or anxious…… he wants you to be happy and healthy and if he has to take care of himself to make that happen then he will!!
