9. Who is responsible for the relationship starting? 

All it takes is a little flirting or interest and Primary is pretty gone.

They thought they were in a relationship with Shadowheart officially long before she did. When she asks to make things official post sparing the Nightsong they're a little blindsided and hurt because they feel their commitment and emotions so far weren't valued. She is their first romantic relationship as an adult and neither of them are what I would call well adjusted.

If I recall correctly they tried to initiate things with Halsin first but it was not a good time for him. They bring it up again occasionally trying to be casual about it until he's ready.

17. Do they have any gifts that they hold onto?

They are a packrat in general and carry as many pretty things they find as they can.

I'm actually slowly working on a fic where Shadowheart and Halsin notice that they're feeling restless without a tent and go shopping in Baldur's Gate to put together one that suits them, with places to store their dyes, comfortable cushions, and decorative tapestries + rugs. The tent and the items in it they hold incredibly precious to them, especially after they discover their parents got rid of or destroyed a lot of their possessions.

22. clinic/Your oc Phoenix

Tunk-tunk. Tunk-tunk. Tunk-tunk.

Phoenix's boot heels bounce off the bar across the bottom of her chair, legs swinging in a nervous rhythm.

"Phee!" the doctor says before she even has the door open all the way. The robot shrugs the shoulder of her coat back on, glancing at the screen in her hand. "I have to say, it's unusual seeing you here without an injury. But I'm glad for it! That is not an invitation for you to get injured again."

"Is he okay?" she blows past the comments, brown eyes brimming with worry. The doctor nods, eyes winking off as they close.

"Quentin's just fine. He overworked himself and got overheated. With a little rest, he'll be good to go. You can both leave the clinic once he gets to the waiting room." She turns to leave, before pausing, glancing through the door. "You're a good friend, Phee. Good job on taking him here."

Phoenix beams back at the doctor, and the door shuts, leaving her in the waiting room with the soft whir of the air conditioning. Her boot rhythm starts back up, until it's broken by the door creaking open and Quentin sulking out. His hands are jammed in his jacket pockets, the shoulders of it swallowing him up in a shroud.

"Quen!" she lights up, launching out of her seat, and he braces for a hug. Instead, he gets a boot to the shin.

"OW!" he glares down at her, a mess of red hair with arms akimbo. "Phoenix! What the h-- what?"

"You're being dumb!" she protests. "You don't ever take breaks. For anything. What if they caught you when you were down? What if they caught us when we came in here!"

"I didn't even want to come," he mutters, trying to move around her and out the door. She falls in step behind him, practically skipping to keep up with his stride. His fins flatten tight against his head, pulling against the fabric of his beanie.

"That's dumb too. You have to take care of yourself."

"What do you know? You're like, eight."

"I'm eleven."

"Same thing."

"I'm going to kick you again." Her tongue sticks out the side of her mouth, but he catches her under the arms and scoops her off the ground before she can get a swing in.

"Buzz off, okay?" He struggles against her as she flails and wiggles. "You and Raster are making this whole thing really complicated for me."

"For you!" she cries, incensed, flailing ramping up. Quentin holds her at arms length, before giving in and dropping her.

"Yes! For me! That should not be hard to understand."

She hits the ground with a thump, and her glare returns, peering up at him through a mess of curly bangs. He stares back.

He sighs.

"C'mon. Let's get back."

☾ - sleep headcanon

MINAH — has horrible nightmares. she's never been the soundest sleeper, but post-joining it's gotten especially bad—she has a whole bunch of new warden nightmares and some old ones from her childhood have reemerged (especially after the whole haunted-in-the-tirashan adventure)

VESPER — she's an insomniac. she can fall asleep pretty easily but if she wakes up in the middle of the night she's screwed. sometimes she eventually manages to go back to bed after a few hours, but if it's anywhere in the vicinity of dawn then that's it; she's resigned to being up for the day (she naps to compensate, when she can)

MARI — the meditation couch gives her a backache so she tends to sleep in the infirmary. she likes feeling close to varric and having him around to talk to until. well.

☠ - angry/violent headcanon

MINAH — all evidence to the contrary, minah's first instinct is almost never violence. she's more of a flight or freeze kind of girl; if she'd the one instigating violence it's because something somewhere has gone wrong

VESPER — she’s so so so good at managing her anger until someone pushes her too far and she goes full studio ghibli anime protagonist floating hair glowing eyes I cast fireball. the dark (bright?) side of being a fire mage

MARI — she’s generally chill and easygoing and kind of nothing fazes her, but when she gets angry she’s brutal about it. she’ll carve a path straight through something (or someone) if she's mad enough. real blunt force weapon energy

MINAH — really likes classical music and formal portraiture and all the so-called high arts. don't get her wrong she likes the rough n tumble common entertainment she does too, but there's something lovely and graceful and efficient about a violin concerto or an oil painting that she vibes with

VESPER — very much enjoys baking when she has the time for it. she likes how particular and fussy it can be, and she also has a sweet tooth and it's nice to have the opportunity to indulge

MARI — treviso is her favorite place to visit. she likes the food and the canals and the market (and listening to lucanis talk about the food and the canals and the market)

☼ - appearance headcanon

MINAH — she likes messing around with the necklace of disguise when there's time for it — a different eye color, a different hair texture, a different bone structure. she's gotten really granular with it; sure she can make herself look like a completely different person but more importantly she can make herself look just different enough to trick the eye

VESPER — around the time of veilguard, when she's back on the job, she picks up a sick facial scar over one eye. she honestly kind of likes it; she thinks it makes her look rakish and she likes how it pairs with the missing hand. (everyone around her would prefer she didn't lose any more body parts)

MARI — she's got loads of tattoos and at least one of them is one she did herself

Ellion: Fool, Chariot, Tower, Death?

Fool: Where did Rook's journey begin? What were they doing before joining the Veilguard?

What weren’t they doing… I’m more or less sticking with the game canon for Ellion, with so much additional stuff on top, so they went from a city elf to a Circle mage to a Dalish first to a Veil Jumper pretty fast. Essentially they were in a Circle in the Free Marches when the Mage-Templar war broke out, during which they fled to Wycome and almost died if it weren’t for the Inquisition and clan Lavellan. They then learned of a Dalish clan that has lost most of their mages in one of the accidental skirmishes with the templars, and decided to join them, though their relationship with clan Aldwir ended up… complicated. After that, at some point, they ran off to join the Veil Jumpers, feeling as if they could never be what clan Aldwir’s keeper wanted them to be, and spent some time with them. And after that, the whole Varric thing happened and they joined up with him in his hunt for Solas.

The Chariot: How does Rook fight? What are their preferred abilities and damage type?

They are a mage who primarily specializes in lightning. Lots of mana reserves, very powerful spells, but a distinct lack of finer control. They have trouble manipulating artifacts like Bellara does, for example, because they can’t generate lightning weak and precise enough to operate them. So they do mostly fight using lightning and their staff which they use to either focus their spells a little or to disperse the power they store in it for spells like chain lightning. They have also learned shapeshifting from Irelin, but they don’t use it as much.

The Tower: How does Rook respond to unexpected catastrophe?

Mostly just throwing themself into trying to figure out how to minimize the damage.

Death: What part of Rook do they need to kill to become the best version of themselves?

Hmmm it’s a hard question bc. overall they probably would have been a better person if they lacked their vindictiveness and tendency to be impulsive about their decision-making but also. At that point they would cease to be themself, really. So maybe they could be their best self with those two qualities still there but toned down?

i don't think i've ever talked about this one — so! one of the things that surprised vicki after living in manhattan her entire life and then moving out to very rural maine was the fact that the night sky was so clear, leading to one reason for her propensity for her nighttime walks along the grounds, the cliffs, or the beach. roger of course has a similar habit and they often run into each other, and he noticed her awe with the sky, and recognized it (having gone through a similar experience recently moving back home from augusta, though not so drastic). he's the one to point out the visible constellations that she's only 'til now known from books or pictures, and he has the stories about jeremiah's sailors guided by stars as accompaniment.
