Oh idk, maybe when people Mischaracterize the complex characters simply because they refuse to try to observe and understand them. Maybe when one of the fan fav characters does something bad against complex character and it's immediately excused because they're the favorite. Maybe when the reader excuses the flaws/ claims their fan favorite character has no flaws and yet the the complex character is always flawed. Maybe when the complex character is seen as 'less important' to the plot and yet the characters friends are somehow more important. But Idk, maybe.
