okay @sethdomain I did it
small and crappy analysis of Technoblade’s anarchy:
This is a Transcript from a video on phone:
Okay this may be a little cringe but I am going to very slightly analyze the anarchistic ideals of Technoblade. Anarchy in the way Technoblade applies it isn’t what we normally consider anarchy to be— like anarchy is this violent force against government and in the lack of government the strong overpower the weak, but what Technoblade wants is the abolition of all authority (which encompasses government), which means that he would oppose the strong vs the weak because the strong would be the authority in this case. (Although he does describe anarchy as that to a couple of people, he doesn’t believe anarchy is that). He’s very loyal to his anarchist ideals, but the type he created, not the kind normally associated with anarchy.
Is his anarchy right for the Dream SMP? This is a bit of a question, because anarchy did exist for a moment on the server when L’manburg was destroyed and there was no supreme power over most people. You had the developing Eggpire and the Kingdom of the Greater SMP, but neither were exerting that much power over L’manburg’s previous inhabitants. Obviously it wasn’t super free, and there were still a lot of events going on, particularly with Dream. This fit into the anarchy not supported by Technoblade, because Dream still held a lot of control over the people, even while in prison. Technoblade wanted everyone to be equal, but not in a communist idea in that the state owns everything, but that everyone has the freedom to own their own property (although they may have to defend it) and is obligated to protect themselves (rather than the government protecting its citizens).
We see this in the Syndicate/arctic commune, which aren’t a government, obviously. Technoblade is very strong, and he could be viewed as a Dream-like figure, but he doesn’t present himself in that way nor is he actually Dream-like in the slightest. Technoblade is strong because of his preparation skills—yes he is really good at pvp, but most of the time that’s because he’s so prepared. He is better than other pvp-ers because he is, for example, when the Butcher Army showed up, splashing down potions. In Doomsday, cc!Techno notes in discord that Sapnap almost killed him and he had to retreat. Doomsday was able to happen only due to major preparation and Techno teaming up with other well-armed players and a complicated plan.
Anyway, back to the point I was trying to make with the Syndicate. The Syndicate is not ruling over the arctic commune nor does Techno exude authority over the rest of the members due to fear/respect. The Syndicate is a bunch of being discussing how to press their freedoms and anarchism over the rest of the SMP— with a focus on abolishing TYRANNICAL governments specifically. Techno’s goal (and the Syndicate’s in term) may have been to end all governments on the server, but it never really seemed like they were doing that. They only went up against the ones that were dangerous (mostly the Eggpire). They were chill with Snowchester (Technoblade even resolved his conflict with Tubbo and spoke with him about his concerns over Snowchester, in which he later deems Snowchester not needing to be destroyed). The arctic commune is what Technoblade is idealizing: a free area where a bunch of friends live together, with no person being more powerful (or more specifically, using their power) against another person, and everyone is able to support each other (which is an important aspect of Technoblade’s character: he wants friends). There are rules that the commune follows, but it’s less so laws and more things that the people agree would be messed up or counterintuitive to the safety of the commune (don’t reveal the Syndicate’s secrets, don’t blow up people’s houses, at least try to help other people when they need it).
So with that clarified, would Technoblade’s idea of anarchy work for the Dream SMP? Yes, actually. This is mostly because Technoblade’s anarchy works for a small group of people/friends, and the SMP doesn’t have many members. Technoblade’s idea is that each of these groups of friends make basically a little village where they live together and support each other, while remaining friends or at peace with the other villages. The only person that might be against this, might be Dream, but I’m confused by his character most of the time. I do know that Dream wants control, so the multiple villages out of his control (which was basically L’manburg, although they did just make a monopoly and constantly diss on him), might upset him!
TLDR: if everyone got therapy on that server, Techno’s anarchy would’ve worked.

Exile cTommy drives me crazy bc his themes are so deeply about isolation and an abuse victim having to save themselves. Which, is really powerful. Especially for people who don’t have support networks, who can’t be rescued, seeing it’s possible to do it oneself.
But also. Because it’s so effective. Because it hurts so much. I WANT to save him. I’m begging for him to be rescued. For anyone at all to hear him scream. Tommy isn’t a damsel, he is capable of saving himself, but he shouldn’t have to. Those fics are a different sort of comfort to those hurting. That someone will care, that they’ll be rescued. That he deserves to be.
In some sense I’m certain the reverse would be true if canon and those types of fics were reversed. That is how fandom functions, teasing apart the whatifs.
Still I’m endlessly grateful that cTommy wasn’t rescued. Especially with the bedrock bro healing after. Tommy isn’t looking for help when he goes to Techno, he’s literally living under the floorboards. And even when he’s discovered Techno is so deeply not equipped to play therapist for a traumatized teen. He’s still bleeding, but it was him who pulled out the blade.
#I’m not sure my words can be of much merit since I wasn’t active in the fandom when all that was happening#And have honestly engaged pitifully with fics but like#Idk#Tommyinnit#ctommy#dsmp#dream sno#Exile arc#mcyt#technoblade#dream smp#dsmp analysis#something to nom on

i don't think c!techno did anything wrong in not 'doing more' during the red festival to help c!tubbo. he stalled for over three minutes. no one else came to help him and he had no idea how effective his fireworks would be because when he tested it on c!niki and c!fundy, only the armor stand 'died'. he thought it was an unwinnable fight for him and he couldn't risk losing because he had one life.
i think his apology, him saying that he should've done more, comes from a place of grief. he watched c!ranboo die. he knew their relationship now, at least some of it. i think he was genuinely blaming himself for not doing better, for everything. he did everything he could, realistically, but i think grief was clouding his judgement.
or, not clouding his judgement, per say. maybe after seeing c!ranboo's death, he decided that he should be willing to die for what he believes in and was retroactively assigning that to his past self.
i think a lot of c!techno's character comes from a desire to do better and i do think that in his grief he picked this as something he could have done better.

you know, with hindsight now what it is I really do think a more literal reading of c!techno's chat would have helped his characterization a Lot
and mind you, this was originally intended to be the case, and very well may have been intended all along even if it wasn't usually emphasized within the lore
youtube
and don't get me wrong, I Get why it fell out of favor within the fandom. it coincides with a Very storied ableist trope that demonizes DID and disorders adjacent to it, and Can be spoken about in a way that is essentially indistinguishable from it depending on the word choice.
but the thing is ! not only does it not Have to be an allegory for DID, I straight up don't think it is At All.
because we Know what it's an allegory for. It's His Chat. there's technoblade playing the game, and there's the thousands of people watching with expectations and wants that he's compelled to meet (or, at the very least, pacify through Entertainment).
and this makes much Much more sense when conceived of as Supernatural. be that spirits, gods, demons, or anything that could fill that role. separate entities that, for whatever reason, only techno can sense the presence of and be affected by.
and of course, to an extent this is true for all creators. everyone had an audience that they were meant to entertain and the choices they made were influenced by that fact.
but technoblade came in with a Very distinct set of expectations that heavily impacted the choices he was Expected to make and the kinds of stories that he could tell. he was more or less a living legend in real life just as much as he was in roleplay, and these things were inherently connected.
and it's like !
when c!technoblade says he was peer pressured into killing tubbo at the red festival he Is technically talking about what happened within the roleplay. schlatt was demanding it from him, there's a sort of pressure there. but schlatt was also the dictator they were set to kill, and techno has never had any trouble fighting people he considered a dictator before, and certainly not Schlatt of all people.
but he WAS being peer pressured By His Audience. by thousands of people, most of which were demanding blood Because It Was The Expectation, because it'd be Fun.
out of universe technoblade made the decision he thought would be the most Entertaining, and he was right! consistently he made choices that would let him do the most bombastic Spectacles possible. And It's Great. he's Excellent at pulling dramatics and making a compelling scene that give other people room to work off of. in that sense I'd consider techno an Excellent actor, and I have to imagine that he was fun to work with.
the problem is when you then have to justify it from an in character perspective, grounded in those mushy things like Feelings with characters that can be traumatized and sustain lasting damage, Especially Without acknowledging the out of character incentive.
mind you, it's not Impossible to Create a backstory that could justify it. why a character as consistently powerful and feared as technoblade would feel pressured to kill an ally by someone he not only Can kill but Wanted To Kill. why a character as seemingly secure and in control as technoblade would lash out the way that he does to perceived betrayal, and yet consistently puts no weight onto having killed and permanently scarred an ally that trusted him.
what that'd need is tragedy. a storied history of being hurt and having to survive. building up To an untouchable god from a much much more vulnerable position. Long Lasting trauma that's lead to this deep insecurity and paranoia. and that's Possible and that's Compelling.
but it's just not in the text.
not only did we never learn basically Anything that c!technoblade was up to pre-series, we actually know Less by the end than when we started because of the sbi retconning.
it's a Theoretically Possible interpretation that's technically never Contradicted by canon, but would have to be created by scratch. it's a compelling idea for a fan fic (and one I'd like to read) and it's compelling for a theoretical recontextualization of the character, but it's just not In The Text.
meanwhile, we have the video above.
we have the Objective Fact that technoblade's decision making was often subject to the rule of cool (very Very effectively) to entertain his audience.
and most compellingly, these concepts Don't Need To Be Separate. in fact, in my opinion they're Stronger when you put them together.
because the thing is. it's Difficult to imagine techno as ever being in a vulnerable position. he is just Objectively more powerful than everyone else on the server, both in real life And within the lore. How could he have ever been afraid when he was stronger than anyone and everyone combined? when we saw with our own eyes that techno could face nearly the whole server at once and win.
but he Is a tragic character, at least he's meant to be. and that tragedy makes much Much more sense as something Inward.
technoblade as a character who Needs connection, who Needs stability, who Needs security, who Needs friendship and community and Love. but Lashes Out, Obliterates to the core of the earth, because of something that's not only out of his control but that other people Cannot Understand.
how do you explain to a child that you killed their best friend because a chorus of the undead called for his blood and you (in all the glory that he'd idolized) were unable to do anything but comply? how do you explain to that child that you beat him senseless in a pit as the restless dead jeered and laughed?
That's interesting. That's Compelling.
technoblade is idolized like a god, feared like a force of nature, and in an instant cut himself off from nearly everyone who'd considered him an ally. and that seems to be a pattern, over and over and over again. he's left isolated, and in return he faces retaliation, and in return he's always Waiting for retaliation.
and what do you say to someone who wants to kill you for being a monster? that it's Fine Actually because you only did what you did because you have a curse that compels you to? that the supernatural guided you to destroy their homes and kill their people? (rip jack manifold you will be missed)?
That Doesn't Quite Help Your Case.
technoblade as someone who is beholden to this literal cycle of violence and Loses those things that could ground him, community, stability, People, as a result. who Tries to overcome this very fact (to become a better person, in his own words as per the clip above), but is pulled back into it as a consequence of his own actions.
that's a tragedy !! that Makes Sense. that allows him to be Both this force of nature that other characters have to survive And A Person Who Is Hurt By The Same Conflict.
"I'm a person!" that fear of dehumanization makes So So Much More Sense when you see technoblade as someone who Already fears himself. who fears being a monster, who fears losing control, who has faced isolation again and again and again.
and, importantly, it doesn't have to be anyone else's Fault.
by making the source both Internal and Completely External (something that none of the other characters have any awareness or control over), you can Have techno as a tragic character without demonizing anyone else Or erasing the impact that c!techno had on them.
and in that sense, it Can be an allegory for mental illness, but not in that direct "oooooh how scary he hears voices" kind of way that people fear it looks. but in that sometimes people Will do things that can hurt others while not feeling in control. anger and mania and paranoia, things that you can't always Control and yet that impact that you have on other people still Matters.
and the answer to that is, often, vulnerability and accountability.
I think a lot about technoblade isolating himself so near entirely from the rest of the server, and slowly gathering a support system Back by the end. and I Really Do think that framing of it through this lens is a Very impactful way of breaking it down.
tubbo, tommy, wilbur, ranboo, niki, I think they'd All understand not feeling in control. lashing out, maybe even feeling justified in the moment, but hurting people they care about and furthering their own isolation.
There's Something There, and it's already In The Text. it just needs to be expanded on.
and why not do that ourselves now?
#dream smp#dsmp#technoblade#tommyinnit#tubbo#meta#long post#back on my bullshit#I really do think that his character is just outright Stronger under this framing#and I genuinely think everything post doomsday would've been stronger if he'd leaned into this#that said this is probably messier than some of my other techno analysis#because I've been chewing on it for a few days rather than my usual of rehashing the same idea for two years in a row#but I'm rusty so give me a break#also derivakat voices is a straight up banger and you can all pry it from my cold dead hands

c!technoblade is so misunderstood it hurts, often characterized as a weapon, maybe an anarchist at most but he's much more, he's a conflicting character, his empathetic personality (especially towards animals) is often overshadowed and that's a sad part of why I dislike fanon techno, i personally interpret him not as a violent individual rather an ill one, he's skilled, calculating but the bloodthirsty voices he possesses is his downfall, the silent scream between his calculating side versus the these voices is a big reason why I hate that he's viewed from a place of ego and anger rather than from his true self, a big part of his later character is wanting to stop the cycle that tommy is trapped in, but that's why he's so conflicting, at times he's passive, yet in another he's violent, it's just sad how one sided the fanbase thinks he is versus how he actually is
A/N; I'm not THAT much of a techno fan so I struggled a bit but I think I got what I wanted out :3 and also request me a dsmp character to analyze 🤑🤑

Really enjoying the various notes from people on my post about emduo. What I am gathering from the community response is that Philza and Techno can be summed up by the phrase "some are born great, others have greatness thrust upon them".
Except in this case it's Philza was born chaotic, Technoblade had chaos thrust upon them.
Also Philza is probably the leash kid in this equation.
#philza#technoblade#emerald duo#emduo#thanks to everyone leaving fun tags and responses with your own analysis#as I've said I'm pretty new to everything#I've just finished watching through all the SMPEarth vods#and because it's just how my brain works I'm slowly working through Philza's s4 hardcore vods in order#I'm up to January 2020 so far#so i know i don't have the deepest knowledge of this and i appreciate all the comments from those that know better than i do

Hey y'all, here's some more Emerald Duo character headcanon writing. A bit of a throwback since I haven't done this in a while. For anyone not caught up on my weirdly elaborate headcanons/sorta au, I made up a whole 3000 year timeline for the life of c!Philza, and most of it is sad cuz I'm an angst writer :) You don't need to know much about my headcanons for this tho, just go with the flow. Enjoy.
Like The Spring Thaw
The reign of the Antarctic Empire was a turbulent time, not just for Phil and Techno of course, the political conflicts, scarcity, and relentless environment was a constant onslaught against all the people they ruled over.
Philza and Technoblade's friendship was new, at least by an immortals standards. Techno had been so young when they first met, brought together as allies on the grand battlefields of a war neither of them really cared about. Win? Lose? It didn't matter. Techno was there to try to tame the influence of the blood god hidden deep inside his brain. Phil had been fighting to forget at first, to forget what he's lost, the home, the community, the friends. But nothing builds a bond like fighting for the same cause. Techno gave him something to fight to protect again, after all those years of not having time to take anyone under his wing. So once the war ended the two decided to try to bring peace to a divided world full of conflict.
They had their laughs, taking over the whole world via a bureaucratic loophole, yeah people got pretty pissed at them for that. But something about having a group of people to take care of again helped Phil fix some broken part of himself he left to fester years ago. He was still, and would surely forever be haunted by the memory of his long and winding path in life. The screams of those who had taken shelter in his temple as it was raided became a echo forever reverberating through his head as he slept. But now, instead of nearly being smothered in his sleep by his fellow soldiers, furious at his habit of giving away their position, there was a gentle knock at his door, a friend who's head was filled with much the same noise there to make him a tea and chat away the nightmares.
That castle became home. Sure he was forced to maintain a persona faker then any he'd worn before and the cold and exposed machinery made binding his wings out of the way a must, but they lived a life of plenty. Phil began to enjoy the cold, at home above the layers of ice and frost. Eventually, it became easy to ignore the small and inconvenient plights of his people. Without even knowing it he became the kind of ruler he swore he'd always hate. The apathetic king who saw violent gangs of thieves roaming the countryside as a non-issue. The monarch filled with so much hatred they allowed two armies to needlessly fight for decades. With a uncharacteristic lack of his usual foresight he was among those tyrants now, and so when reports came from the fishermen on the outskirts of the empire that a deadly plague was whipping out every man, woman, and child, the duel emperors brushed it off as yet another mild health issue. Just like the last illness, nothing to worry about.
And in the blink of an eye it was all over. Him and Techno watched in horror over the course of a handful of weeks as the treatments they knew had no effect on this illness. Their advisors locked them away in the castle, hoping to protect them but it only made the helplessness worse. Their doctors, nurses, midwives, wise-folk, and scientists dropped like flies. As they made the decree that all must evacuate the death-cursed city it seemed less were alive to hear it by the minute. All supply lines and social structure broke down, their empire fell to ruin while their backs were turned.
Him and Techno evacuated. Like cowards.
They were hated for a time, scorned for their inability to save their people. But not nearly long enough for Phil. At times he felt the need to remind people, even as generations passed. How could death on such a scale be forgotten? He had truly become what he hated all along, not even brave enough to fight back on others behalf. His lady was his world, but it pained him to know he had become the omen of death that he had been accused of being. Techno didn't speak much anymore, but he knew that similar feelings must be bubbling up for him as well. The two were more similar then they cared to admit.
Soon Techno was on the road again, Phil settled into a cottage all his own, but it was far too lonely. He began to feel better day by day, year by year. He laughed to himself when his crows once filled with wanderlust returned home with stories of the fearsome warrior of the blood god who opposed governments of any kind. It seemed Techno had taken a far more proactive approach to the beliefs he too had felt solidify after their great failure. He hoped the memories didn't haunt his old friend like they did to him. He did nothing with the pain though, no actions of great conviction, which he knew would make it worse in time. But his cruelty had been transformed back into the compassion he had been missing all these years along the way. With it, he felt any remaining pride he had for his days of leadership fade. The days he spent alone filled his old soul with the soft and tender warmth of a hearth fire. It was time to move on, he had sought out those who hated him for long enough. At the very least it was time to unbind his wings. It was time to fly again.

so I have this AU Idea about Tallulah being a new member of the Blood God cult after being convinced by the Voices that linger on to keep an eye on Phil.
Tallulah was fed up with being the most vulnerable one on the island and then decided to reach out to the Voices in hopes of gaining strength and power to protect herself and her family.
Tallulah knows about the Voices and the Blood God from the bedtime stories that Phil likes to tell them
I want to expand on it so bad cause Tallulah has so much potential for Angst ya now, I was afraid to do it cause it might not make sense for her own characterization
but, looking at the vods rn I think it might work. __________
I remember Tallulah being so weak back then that Phil always told her to run while telling Chayanne to fight, while on their Big Adventure, Phil always made sure to have her in his sight, and Tallulah herself woulda always stay by him most of the time.
but now Tallulah can hold herself easily against many dangers, when mobs were surrounding her Phil let her handle the hoards of enemies herself and then congratulated her for her victory. She now often wondered on her own and Phil was okay with letting her out of his sight.
something changed, maybe it was the first kidnapping, maybe the time they spent away in Egg Islan, or maybe it was all of it.
but something most definitely did.
Tallulah is no longer that young and fragile little girl.
Phil just thinks that this is a part of her growing up
but what if it's not only just that? it has been a while since the Voices demanded and pestered him about giving his son to the Blood God's teachings.
maybe they have given up?
or maybe they have a new target they want to pursue?
maybe they already have what they want

some dream smp characters and the jungian archetypes i think fit them (not everyone bc my brain isn't large enough for that)
dream: the ruler. duh. don't think this one needs to be explained.
bbh: the rebel. i honestly struggled a lot with bbh here? however, i think his warmongering attitude with the badlands pre-egg makes it clear when i think about it
tommy: the hero. another obvious one, i think.
fundy: the explorer. i'd call him an almost textbook case, at that.
wilbur: either the magician or the ruler, i can't for the life of me settle on which one, but i'm leaning towards the latter.
schlatt: the magician. many people would probably say ruler, but i honestly think he's more magician-aligned. "i can make things happen" is peak schlatt, moreso than "power is everything".
eret: the caregiver. at the end of the day, eret just wants everyone to be safe, happy, and loved.
quackity: the lover, with some elements of the magician. i think quackity is a very relationship-driven character before all else.
techno: the rebel. easiest one.
connor: the everyman. another textbook example, except i think he also has explorer elements? connor wants a place to belong, and generally tends to believe that anyone can be good.
slime: the sage. is this a hot take? i feel like a lot of people would class him as the innocent or the jester but i don't really think those fit. dunno.

Something something something about the juxtaposition of Wilbur telling Tommy they'll fight with words vs Technoblade telling Tommy the only universal language is violence.
Like, people put them together as villains for blowing up L'manberg but their characters are literally so different. cc!Wilbur and cc!Techno both did such an amazing job at writing their characters.
#also the fact that it was Wilbur’s idea for the Pit??#just the juxtaposition in his character alone#idk man I'm have Thoughts rn#dsmp analysis#technoblade#wilbur soot#c!techno#c!wilbur#cc!techno#cc!wilbur#myst.txt

「Dream SMP Daemon AU 」
⚔ TECHNOBLADE + ALEKSAIX (BROADSWORD) ⚔
Piglins, as denizens of the Nether, do not have daemons as Overworlders do. Rather, their souls take the form of weapons, called morai-kelul ("forged-self"). Morai-kelul come in all shapes and sizes, from swords, knives, spears, bows, maces, hammers, sickles, clubs, chains, brass knuckles, and many, many more. When a piglin child reaches the equivalent of one year of age, their main adult caretakers, blood-related or not, will bring them into the village forge, and begin construction on the child's morai-kelul in a very sacred series of rituals that take months to complete. The construction always involves at least some amount of gold, a spiritual, coveted metal to piglins. Once the weapon is forged, it is named for an aspirational virtue or concept that their caretakers wish to impart to them, such as "bravery," "insight," "candor," etc.
As the piglin grows and changes over time, however, the first morai-kelul forged by their caretaker(s) will eventually break. This happens to everyone at some point in their lives, and is a very painful event mentally and emotionally. When this happens, the piglin must construct a new morai-kelul with the pieces of the old one, which always takes a form different from the first. A spear might become a dagger, an axe might become a crossbow, a sword might become a shield, etc. Outside of this event, morai-kelul are indestructible by most normal means unless their piglin dies, in which case they become a normal, inanimate object.
Unlike Overworlders and their daemons, there is no limit to how far a piglin can travel away from their morai-kelul, and they can summon them from over great distances. The only exceptions to this are traveling from the Nether to the Overworld, the Overworld to the End or the Nether, or traveling between servers; if a piglin tries to go between servers or dimensions without their morai-kelul, they will instantly become like a zombie, with a living body but no conscious mind.
Piglins have no issue with touching each other's morai-kelul. In fact, it is common for piglins, especially the children, to go up to someone with a really cool-looking one and ask to hold it so they can examine it more closely. However, the morai-kelul must be handed to them in order for them to hold it. For example, if Philza tried to pick up Aleksaix off the table or off the ground, he would not be able to; Technoblade would need to hand it to him in order for him to carry it properly. Mates swap morai-kelul during their wedding ceremonies, and fighting with someone else's morai-kelul is considered the highest show of intimacy and trust a piglin can display.
Morai-kelul do not speak with an audible voice like facets such as daemons do. Rather, they communicate in projected feelings and images. Normally, only its piglin half can communicate directly with it, but if it is being held by someone else, it can communicate with that person as well. They also are always referred to as "it" rather than with gendered pronouns.
Technoblade is wary, blunt and insincere. Aleksaix embodies his idealistic, sensitive, trusting side.
~
NAME MEANING "Aleksaix" means "responsibility" in the piglin tongue. It is rather uncommon for piglins to freely tell others the name of their morai-kelul without knowing them well first, so Technoblade has taken to saying the name of his is Orphan Obliterator as in inside joke. Very few people are familiar enough with piglin culture to call him on this.

SOURCES I took this concept and many ideas surrounding it from this person's concept for Asgardian daemons, so credit where credit is due.

I wonder what Techno's response would be if Tommy won in the pit. Because he's a pretty 'might makes right' dude so I'm trying to figure out if he'd just shrug and be like 'ok I was in the wrong and Tommy got his revenge so it's all fair and square' (while being secretly frazzeled and quadruple down about training harder and stockpiling max everything because Tommy??? Tommy beat him???).
Unless he doesn't see his life for Tubbo's as a fair trade, and thinks along the lines of Tommy's life taken in retribution. Because Techno is super pro revenge, and it could be a 'hey! I didn't have a choice killing Tubbo! That's not fair!' reaction. Techno pretty consistently wants the last word on violence, cataclysmically so, but at the very least will leave it there as is instead of extracting payment over and over and over. So I think there's a real possibility of him scheming up revenge, stockpiling like crazy, and waiting for the proper moment so it doesn't look like he's going back on his word.
Cause like. Techno does say 'win or lose, it stays in the pit'. But he's also fully going in intending to win. He's skewing the odds in his favor with strategic saturation boosts and is very confident in his abilities. When he offers Tommy an out, it's because he wants this to be a choice to fight and then drop it no hard feelings, not because Techno thinks he'll lose.
But if he did. If he did, and was humiliated in front of everyone. If his combat abilities were called into question because he lost to Tommy. If Technoblade 'never dies' lost a life. Well. I think he'd be put in a tailspin. He'd be analyzing every single second in that pit, over and over, to figure out what went wrong. Playing in his head on repeat as his strategist's mind turns against him.
Because as much as Techno tries to twist W--'s egging and goading and escalating into a de-ecalatory measure, Tommy is definitely still holding hard feelings after the pit. And I think Techno would, too, as much as he tries to insist it stays in the pit.
#like OBVIOUSLY it's not even close#dsmp#dream smp#techno#ctechno#tommyinnit#ctommy#technoblade#sbi#sbi au#mcyt#dsmp analysis#also techno was so so clever for maxing his saturation like. Absolute tactical genius#because techno never ever wants to be on an equal playing field#also eeeuuugh I forgot how much Wi-- was absolutely goading that whole thing#cause Techno is like 'sure' but is giving Tommy a lot of outs#and constantly trying to stress that his goal is the tension between them to stop#but also he's a man and beating each other up to go back to being friends is a valid strategy#hypocrite techno my beloved <3#ctechnoblade#something to nom on

one of the genuinely most important things about c!techno is his relationship to violence.
because when he says 'violence is the only universal language', he means that violence is what people understand. that he's been shown over and over that violence is what people listen to. he's experienced it firsthand. he doesn't seem to revel in it, it's more like he's resigned to it as a fact.
and on doomsday, it's violence that gets him the 'win'. he succeeds! his goal of destroying the government and making certain there will never be another is complete.
but instead of taking this as proof that violence is the only way, techno still wants to change. he admits to being a bad example and wanting to do better going forward. it's such a great moment showing that techno's desire to change came from himself, not because he was unsuccessful in his goals.

Wait... maybe it was c!Dream who was the first to boop, booping c!Tommy in exile like a friendly - "Hey, put your stuff in the hole, idiot." :D But it got misconstrued and taken the wrong way and became a trend...
Like clearly the Butcher Army just wanted to evil boop c!Techno -but c!Techno didn't appreciate that so he super booped c!Quackity in the face with a pickaxe -but c!Quackity didn't like that so he spammed c!Dream with boops until he lagged and crashed...
#dsmp the boop saga#Q booped dream so much his computer crashed XD... over and over#poor sam always having to restart it lol#dreblr#dsmp#dsmp analysis#c!tommy#c!dream#c!technoblade#c!quackity#this is fine#dsmpblr
