Week two of @summer-of-bad-batch

Give me those goggles

Prompt: “Don’t even think about it.”

Word count: 821

Relationships: Female Reader/Tech

Tags: Kissing, getting picked up, hugs, playful games, Tech has a test for everything.

A/N: I am so behind but I’m desperate trying to catch up! I don’t know why this prompt immediately made me think of Tech and has been living in my head rent free. I did a Crosshair fic before so I think I’m going to continue with reader/bad batch members for each week’s prompts. Anyway please enjoy!

I’ve been begging Tech for weeks, WEEKS, to give me his goggles so I can clean them. But it’s always been the same answer.

“No.”

“Not at this moment.”

“I’m sorry my love but I’m busy.”

“Maybe another time.”

It’s been driving me insane. I could see the build up of smudges, hair and who knows what on the lenses. And as someone who also wears glasses, it would drive me insane to have them THAT dirty.

But for someone as particular as Tech it doesn’t seem to bother him. Nope. Not at all. He could care less.

Finally I ask, “Would it break them if I washed them? Or would it ruining the glass in them or-.”

“No water and soap would work perfectly fine,” he replies looking up from the device he’s working on.

“THEN WHY-.”

So I’ve had to take drastic measures. Today he’s fallen asleep at the console working on upgrading the ships hyperdrive. Head leaned back against the chair, lightly snoring.

That’s when I strike.

With careful precision, I start to maneuver his goggles off his head. Every movement, every snore sends my heart racing. I feel as though I can’t even breathe, so focused on getting these damn goggles off.

Finally I manage to wiggle them off, looking at the goggles in my hands with awe and suspense. I look back to Tech who’s still asleep and unaware.

Now I had them, now I could clean them.

I carefully step away from Tech and head out of the ship. There, around the ramp we had some crates and cargo that Wrecker still needs loading up onto the ship. I stashed some soap, water and towels on one of them just for the occasion.

I take my seat on the crate and begin my work. A light spray of water on his goggles first then-

“Don’t you even think about it.”

I freeze, looking to find a groggy Tech, leaning again the doorway of the Marauder, eyes squinting, hair lightly messy and…a smirk? I can see that look in his eyes, this was all a game of his.

I smile and shake my head, holding the glasses a little tighter. “Oh, so this was a game all along? See how long till I couldn’t take it and cleaned them?”

“You’ve held out longer than I calculated my love,” he says stepping down the ramp, “But I’m afraid it’s not happening.”

“Says who?”

“Says me,” he raises an eyebrow. It’s cute to see him without his goggle blocking his eyes. He has such beautiful brown eyes.

“I’m sorry but that’s not happening.” I hold up one of the towels, now wet and soapy and take off running around the ship. I can hear him chuckle and take off after me.

“These. Goggle. Will. Be. CLEANED!!!” I yell over my shoulder.

The two of us run around the ship in the docking bay. Tech, being a trained soldier, could easily reach me and take the goggles back. But what fun would that be?

It’s moments like this, where he could just have fun. No pressure of figuring something out or worrying if he doesn’t know about something. Just the two of us in a quiet moment during the raging war.

Our laughter fills the are as the chase goes on. I run around a particular large pile of crates and turn around to see…he’s not there…? I stop in my tracks and look behind me. Wait…wasn’t he just there? Chasing me?

That’s my last thought before his arms wrap around me from behind and lift my feet off the ground. “I. Will. Have. My. Goggle. Back.” He laughs, picking me up so my back is against his chest.

As he walks with me in his his arms he kissing my neck. “You’re a determined woman when you want to do something. It’s something I love and admire about you.”

He sets me down on a crate, standing in front of me with his hand open for his goggles, “Give them over darling.”

I sigh dramatically, then smirk, handing over his now freshly cleaned goggles. “You took too long to grab me.”

He chuckles, shaking his head as he looks over the goggles in his hands. “Wow, impressive. The fact you manage to clean them while running is remarkable,” he smiles back to me.

Finally, the moment of truth! He puts the goggles on. I smile as I see his eyes widen ever so slightly, then watch as he looks around as if he’s seeing the world for the first time.

“Wow,” he turns his back to me as looks around the docking bay.

“I know,” I wrap my arms around him from behind, “it’s like seeing clearly for the first time.”

“You’re right. I should clean these more often,” he turns back to me and gives me a small but passionate kiss, “Thank you.”

“Anytime handsome, anytime.”
