Was looking at refs and since Viktor has two different leg braces I was wondering, do we think he wears them simultaneously?? The refs don't perfectly line up perspective-wise so it's hard to tell but parts of the one he wears during the Hexcore scenes look like they could maybe line up with the brace that he wears over his clothes, but also some parts really don't and look like they'd be super uncomfy. Also HOW does he take these on and off. Experts weigh in

you opt for his voice instead of your playlist during your commute to work—softer now, a quiet murmur through your headphones. you can hear the hum of the jet, the muffled conversation from his team, followed by a sharp reid that brings his ramblings to a screeching halt, promising to continue in the next one. (he does, picking up exactly where he left off.)

the messages accumulate throughout the day, filling your inbox. you should be more worried about the capacity and the possibility that you might miss messages from other people, but he's the only one who ever leaves you any. who even uses voicemail anymore?

they become your personal podcast, taking up far too much storage on your phone. you’ve saved every single one. they help when he's away and you miss him. you replay them more than you’d like to admit–you’ve nearly got them all memorised.

Once steve becomes bigger on tiktok (via corroded coffin and Eddie), he becomes more easily recognized in public, but only in the metal scene. The parents of his students still know him as Mr. Harrington, the brightly colored and happy-go-lucky kindergarten teacher that their kids love.

But fans of corroded coffin either love or hate Steve. Steve (obviously) doesn’t care because he knows that him and Eddie are in love and that’s all that matters to him. Plus, he’s not on social media so it doesn’t affect him personally.

At one of Eddie’s shows, during a quiet moment, Steve’s dexcom beeps and interrupts the moment of silence that the band was trying to create. The cc boys don’t think anything of it, but the person standing next to Steve in the crowd shoots him a dirty look.

Thinking nothing of it, Steve, in his baby blue sweater, takes out his omnipod and checks his levels in order to see how he can problem solve. His blood sugar was higher than usual thanks to the large Dr. Pepper he had earlier, so all he had to do was a correction. Nothing crazy.

But the man next to him thought this was atrocious. He nudges Steve and says, “Turn off your fucking phone, it’s disrespectful.”

Steve looks at him and furrows his brows and just shakes his head.

This leads to the guy punching Steve square in the face, which sets off a chain reaction of a mosh pit occurring with Steve desperately trying to move to the sidelines.

The band stops and Eddie jumps off the stage, pushing his way through the crowd to get to Steve, while many of the others begin to rag on the man that instigated everything.

Eddie grabs Steve by the arm and throws him over his shoulder— a moment of strength that will have him complaining about in the morning— and makes his way back to the stage to deposit Steve there.

“Are you okay, baby? You took a hard hit, there.” Eddie is lightly touching Steve’s face and checking for any signs of swelling or lacerations.

Steve just laughs and points over Eddie’s shoulder, saying, “You should see the other guy.”

Eddie turns and the guy is barely standing; one guy is holding him up while a huge woman is repeatedly kicking him.

The next day, the whole event blows up on every social media platform with people defending Steve left and right. The hashtag #WeStandWithSteve is trending on twitter and the video of the whole incident is plastered everywhere.

The “normies” may not recognize Steve, but the metal community and Corroded Coffin’s fan base sure do. And they’ve proved that he is worth defending.

the dynamic of demigods thinking which other demigod is the most powerful is always amusing to me because. like, we know the big 3 kids are all the most powerful. That's just a fact of their universe. And then we know nearly every character views Percy as the strongest demigod, and most people are very rightfully intimidated by him.

and you look at the powers of the Big 3 kids and there's Percy, but then you realize Nico is just kind of objectively more powerful than him but simply chooses to hang out in Percy's shadow like he's Percy's scary dog privileges. Like, the two of them are pretty equally capable of causing multiple different apocalypses. Nico just also has like four different instakill powers and it's not like he doesn't use them. He very much uses them! Not infrequently, even! And they don't seem to take a significant amount of energy from him! And other demigods are pretty intimidated by both of them! But Nico makes a conscious point to keep his cards close to his chest and not let on exactly how dangerous and scary he can be if he wants to. People are already scared enough of him without knowing anything about him and he doesn't like that. Percy doesn't think about that nearly as much, and so usually just goes in guns blazing and that's part of why he's considered a wildcard. And then Nico himself puts Percy on a pedestal, so those who do know more about Nico's abilities then presume Nico knows something they don't about Percy that implies Percy is even stronger than him.

And even on a meta level Nico's narrative role requires him to be functionally more powerful than Percy, because he very often serves the purpose of getting Percy out of situations he can't handle on his own. That's just part of his function as a character! But also narratively he can't overshadow Percy so he just takes a backseat of his own accord and that's very amusing to me.

does anyone ever feel a little disappointed sometimes by the witchcraft content we have, across all platforms? like there are so few people actually posting unique or interesting things, it feels to me like 95% of witch posts are the same 5 beginner concepts, tutorials, and psas over and over again. tumblr is definitely where ive found the most amount of unique posters who give insight into their own unique practices and theories or make actually good witchy shitposts, but still, how many posts about “how to make moon water” or whatever do we need…? i mean it is GREAT if you ever wanna look up beginner stuff, but its gotten so repetitive.

its also sooooo annoying how fake most of these posts are, or offensive, like “take this quiz to find out your spirit animal!” or “how to figure out if youre a born witch” or any other problematic clickbaity thing. also there so many aesthetic posts in the witchy tags everywhere, and tbf i do love witchy aesthetic things, but even then if you look closer so many of those posts are ai (FUCK ai) or the same 30 pinterest photos over and over again… theres also just a lot of spam and bots and people trying to sell you stuff in witchy spaces, which is annoying too 💔

at the core of the issue is that OCD is not real. it's not that people abuse the diagnosis as a get out of jail free card - it's not that people on tumblr don't know how OCD works or what compulsions do - it's not that people without an OCD diagnosis should not be talking about having moral OCD; it's that there is no set of characteristics, experiences, or patterns that make someone "have" OCD and some other person not. the experiences it flattens and distorts are real - but there is no "OCD brain" or "OCD functioning", those were labels created by psychiatry to pathologize different experiences that have nothing in common. my mutual calls it "symptoms syndrome", a grouping of symptoms that does not constitute an entity, tell you nothing about the cause, or about the cure. it is the case for every psychiatric diagnosis.

now about "moral OCD" specifically, imagine a cop who is wracked with guilt about the teenager he beat up a couple of weeks ago, and stuck in unproductive loops he feels like he has no control over. if your reaction is that moral OCD is obviously different since he actually did do something horrible, then clearly the issue is not the pathologized loops but whether you have actually done something bad or not; if your reaction is that he might have moral OCD, but the point is whether he does something productive about it and quits, then clearly the issue is not the pathologized loops, but whether you do something about what you're worried about.

the issue at the heart of moral OCD is that it posits a normal, rational level of concern about your role in the evils of the world - and its opposite, an abnormal, pathological level of concern. what is a normal level of concern when you are enjoying a life of relative luxury compared to (and directly because of) the vast majority of the world's population, or even on a personal level, when hurting people you care about? to understand yourself as suffering from moral OCD you need to compare yourself to a hypothetical rational and competent person who only experiences worry to the extent they can change the object of their worry - a person that doesn't exist! to think of OCD as a sort of brain virus of obsession where the content of the obsession matters less than the loops is to buy into psychiatric logic. of course you worry. why wouldn't you?

now you can take steps to make this worry a bit less discapacitating or circular and a bit more productive to change but understanding it as a "disease" you are "curing" - or yourself as requiring different steps from someone who "does not have OCD" is simply false.

My most controversial belief on the not-fatphobic fatphobic website is that Big Doctor is not lying to you about the consequences of severe obesity and wanting to have medications like Ozempic banned entirely is like murderously evil. Obesity is a disease caused by environmental factors and lifestyle choices, and consistently leads to a shortened lifespan of between 10 to 40 years. I actually do not believe that fat people deserve to die dramatically younger than their thin peers if there is medicine available that can prevent that, and I think wanting to deny people access to these life saving medications is a pretty fucking hateful thing to do.

I think Nico's ability to survive is less so about his will to live and more so about his refusal (less so personal and more so narrative-wise) to die. Nico, for the lack of a better word, is like a cockroach: you cannot kill him in a way that matters so he survives and keeps haunting the scene.

There was once a marvelous post on Nico's function as a narrative tool and it was so beautifully pointed out that he's a near-omniscient deus ex machina (to simplify) which cannot be overlooked when characterizing him. Nico carries so much narrative weight on his back (which arguably could be an example of either good or bad writing depending on your perspective) that he cannot just go and die.

His road towards healing (though definitely not walked alone/individually) is his own, that's his choice to make as a character, but his disposition as a guy that perseveres resides more within his function, in my opinion.

He's not the tragic prince doomed for self-destruction people often draw him out to be but his capacity for survival is also not a product of his continuous work as a character, at least not just that — but is rather a result of his narrative function. Simply saying, you cannot, narratively, kill off Nico di Angelo.

i think more people should hc their favorite characters as having DID. as a treat. and more people should give their ocs DID. and more people should make world's most heavyhanded system allegories. and we should have systems who r respected as people n systems who get to be things other than shock villains and systems who get to be systems casually and systems for whom its a huge part of their story and systems whos plurality affects how they interact with The Lore in a way that isnt weird as hell about them. amen. obligatory disclaimer that i know not all systems have DID and vice versa. amen
