I love how people are only ever interested in defending Arya's right to be weird-looking. It's never defending her intelligence from people who claim she's incapable of thinking for herself, highlighting her importance to the plot and refusing to see her as just a prop, acknowledging how much of her story gets stolen and given to other characters, talking about her trauma or how often it gets erased and overlooked, seeing her as more than just an attack dog/bodyguard, etc. Nope. It's just a "why can't people let Arya be ugly/unconventional looking? :(" post every other week because people are, for whatever reason, obsessed with how Arya is visually perceived. One of the most misinterpreted characters yet the issue is only ever with her being portrayed as "too pretty" or the wrong "type" of pretty. This fandom will entirely rewrite a character's motivations, values, and role in the story to the point that they consider references to canon "hate" but! The true injustice to canon is we acknowledge that she is described as pretty several times. Arya simply existing as her pretty, important, and non-conforming self is too complex and confusing for people to comprehend 😔.
#arya stark#asoiaf#fandom nonsense#how can Arya be considered pretty?! she's literally non-conforming?? being pretty belongs to /feminine/ female characters...right? 😱#I feel like these people tell on themselves with how much they value beauty because they make it /such/ a big deal#when her self-esteem issues regarding being a lady are infinitely more relevant to her story (and more interesting to discuss)#her being mocked for having the Stark look is a supporting story element that also reinforces her being an outcast considering#her mother + all of her trueborn siblings have a southern look and she was raised with southern standards#not to mention her non-conformity and often messy appearance heavily impacted how her looks were perceived#George writes Arya's non-conformity as parallel to traditional femininity so it makes sense that beauty is one of those aspects he subverts#(also why it makes sense that her future includes accepting her identity as a Lady while redefining the role but that's off topic)#this is why you need to look at the writing instead of judging based on the /type/ of character you think Arya is#and! it's truly not that serious 😭 I'm sure it will be a plot point eventually but it's not 98% of her story like these people pretend#Arya is such an interesting + well-written character but we constantly get people rewriting her and nonsense discourse around her looks#such rich material and all you can say is that she's an /odd-looking feral gremlin/ and I'm supposed to take your opinion seriously#at this point the obsession with Arya being /weird/ looking has to be some projection of personal self-esteem issues#there's no way /this/ is the hill you're willing to die on with all the terrible takes about Arya from this fandom#wish people who didn't care about her would just stop bringing her up so we could have our discussions about her in peace

ive been staring at the naqtube channel page just doing analysis thoughts in my head for like 15 minutes and ive just been hit with the realization that Damn this is not normal. normal people dont do this. either the mental illness or the mild sickness is doing something to me right now.
#[cosmic heroes of dubious alignment]#IM NOT EVEN WRITING ANYTHING DOWN. IM JUST BRUTEFORCING THOUGHTS IN MY HEAD.#uhmmmmmm anyways. im trying to think of potential themes naq might have#and its like wow i am not good at recognizing themes bc im dense as bricks sometimes but i swear theres a repeating pattern of .. roles?#the expectation and breaking of stereotypical roles to be more specific#like listen to me here. obviously theres the line ive pointed out b4 with the 'theyre fighting evil/theyre [..] evil' line;#the lines in the unused takes video that paint n&q as less than morally good in /some/ sort of way;#queen buzzbeamer's whole deal as ive said ad nauseam; a more recent example i feel like would be part of the binary translated from hazard:#'this is who i am and who i will ever be'. accepting your role.#but also on a more meta sort of way with the games themselves. the female mcs getting more focus than the male mcs-#-in a time period where most video game mcs were male and the female characters were one-note is something noteworthy to me.#the fact that nebula is CONSISTENTLY framed bigger/more prominently in almost every piece of official art we see.#her name is first in the title. naq was conceptualized as a concept with her only first. shes always also featured in ads alongside quasar.#the only ad that features quasar prominently is the jumparound ad which alludes to it possibly being a request from sony#-and thus would want to play it more 'mainstream'.#by itself this doesnt stand out bc it could always be just the creators wanting some hashtag women in their unfiction series#which i would be fine with if that was the case. we love women. HOWEVER#its the fact that naq2 (from what we know so far) ACTIVELY TRIES TO BACKPEDAL ON THIS. which makes me think its INTENTIONAL.#both nova and nebula have seemingly been sidelined in naq2 with their screentimes reduced. nova reduced to a 'supporting character' and -#nebula into a possibly offscreen kidnappee. QUASAR takes their spotlights in naq2.#...maybe a way of 'making back lost sales' from naq1? pivoting too hard into the stereotypical from the unusual...#because obviously thats whats scaring away your customers. not the white room scandal. totally not.#'..ok is this leading up to anything mara. whats your conclusion statement' idunno man.#i just think its an interesting tidbit that keeps popping up. i am not a coherent theory guy#i am a pointing out things and throwing them at the wall to see what sticks guy.#there is also the very real chance that im completely wrong abt naq2 bc we still dont know a lot about it sooo. shrug.

the phrase "girls girl" is sexism evolved and created in fear of being labeled as misandry and/or the south's fear of being labeled of a leftist, liberal, or feminist.
I am all for being a girls girl, but men aren’t required to like all men. Women now are required to like all women and everything about them. We must like someone’s music just because a woman made it. They can’t be competitive and trash talk like men because that’s not being inclusive for all women. We can’t talk about how we dislike a certain style, god forbid we hate a certain style; god forbid we say we hate something a woman is a part of.
women can take the same amount of criticism a man gets. BUT. Women shouldn’t be criticized just for being a woman. They shouldn’t be harmed, discriminated, hated just for BEING a woman.
I hate this new “girls girl” culture. I hate how people criticize Taylor Swift (womp womp) for being competitive on the charts and calling her “not a girls girl” simply for doing what a man would do with other men.
men don’t have to be a “boys boy” or whatever. Why?
Even in “feminist culture” we see harmful things.
don’t just say you’re a girls girl to gentrify and make yourself less scary to men. Say you’re a feminist. Criticize women. Advocate on your own life that every woman, even the ones you criticize are safe and treated as equal.
We are now held to the same standard we were in 1950 to always be pleasant and never to hate anyone. But it's been re-branded to being a girls girl.
But it's so entertaining when we are, isn't it? That's something we may never escape no matter what we do.
Be someone who fights for women. Be someone who believes all women are equal and all deserve to live life as freely as men. But you do not have to like every woman, just as you come prepared in mind that you may not be liked.
All that is truly important is that we don't put down other women to intentionally HURT them. There is a line between simply not liking a woman and putting them down intentionally.
AND WHILE I'M ON THE SUBJECT, I am also tired of this "pick-me" shit that's been going around. Blatant sexism that comes stems from the expectation of how women should act. You have no cause to call a woman a pick me just for mentioning that she likes video games, or may just get along better with boys- it depends on how she treats about women. That is all that matters!
And yes- you get to not like her. Because? We're human too.
Writing this very essay has made me feel inhuman. We need a guide on how to be morally right because we keep having to put up with how society wants us to be. We should be girls girls, but we also need to entertain by getting pulled into rivalries intentionally for the sake of.
If you skipped everything I said, this is the only thing you need to worry about. TREAT EVERYONE AS EQUAL AND HAVING SUCH EQUALITY TO EXERCISE AN INHERENT LIKE TO OUR OWN FUCKING FEELINGS TOWARD PEOPLE. TREAT EVERYONE AS EQUAL; AS YOU WOULD NOT CARE FOR ONE TO DISLIKE YOU, BUT WOULD CARE VERY MUCH IF THEY ALLOWED YOU TO BE HARMED, EMOTIONALLY OR PHYSICALLY. BUT- HATING OR DISLIKING SOMEONE FOR A QUALITY THEY WERE BORN WITH CANNOT BE JUSTIFIED BY ANY FORM; UNLESS SAID QUALITY HARMS OTHERS.
THAT IS FEMINISM. LIBERATE YOURSELF FROM THE NARRATIVE AND GO FREELY.

I keep wanting to write another HH fanfic but I am so scared of it being historically inaccurate
Honestly, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Some of us are sticklers for anachronisms, but unless it's blatantly out of place, I don't think it matters. HH is in and of itself wildly inaccurate (don't get people started on the so-called "Tiger" tank!) Heck, the show wasn't even sure where Stalag 13 was! (Next to Dusseldorf? An hour away from Berlin? Near Switzerland?) As long as you don't put D-Day on November 1943, or decide that Switzerland is fighting in the war, you should probably be okay. But if you're worried, here is some advice:
Be vague. If you, say, have a scene with an airplane, don't mention what type it is beyond a bomber or a fighter unless you're sure it exists. Someone once put in a certain type of fighter that wasn't in action until the end of the war, for instance, and that stood out.
That's my tactic anyway. It I don't understand the specifics of something, I try to be vague when talking about it.
Google is your friend! If you really want to add something and are not sure if it belongs, google it. Don't go overboard. You don't have to. I'm one of those people who google everything, down to the origin of particular phrases. 'Cool' for instance wasn't all that common until the 50s outside certain niche subcultures. But no one is going to say "FLAG ON THE PLAY! That turn of phrase is offensively modern!" (I did, however have to call out "You suck!" once since it had a widely different connotation in the 1940s).
Anyway, if you're really worried about it, find a Beta Reader. Abracadebra is super encouraging. She often betas for new writers. She's pretty busy though. But you can reach out to anyone. Even me, although I'm not very good at constructive criticism.
I hope you do write another fic. We can use all the participation we can get!

The Doting Love Story's Female Supporting Role Has Quit - 31
Chapter 31: But Back Then, Xixi’s Body Was Clearly Gone
Wu Yan looked at Mu Yunzhi with her only remaining eye. She was not too surprised when he said those heartless words.
She had known that he was ruthless, but only today did she realize how ruthless he was.
Behind her, the group of people who had captured her were saying something angrily, but she had no intention of listening. In her only remaining eye, she reflected Mu Yunzhi's cold and somewhat bored face. The breeze blew up the empty sleeve on the right side of her clothes, and it wrapped softly around her waist.
She hadn't seen Mu Yunzhi for a long time. She looked at him a few more times now. Facing Mu Yunzhi's cold gaze, her thoughts wandered, wondering how she ended up in this situation.
Clearly, she was the one holding all the good cards at the beginning.
The person in front of her who was now looking at her so coldly had once stood by the window and watched her all evening because she was punished to kneel for a night.
And all the changes began with the death of Nian Chaoxi.
Overnight, everyone changed.
When Nian Chaoxi died, she seemed to have taken away all the luck in the first half of her life.
She died, fighting for the city, perishing together with the Demon Lord. No trace of her body was left, but her memory remained strong.
Such a death was too unforgettable.
When the news of her death reached Yuejian City, the whole city was filled with weeping. In the City Lord's Mansion, even the guards who had been whipped in the face by Nian Chaoxi were secretly wiping their tears and slapping themselves hard while crying.
On the day of victory, the cries of Yuejian City echoed all night long.
Later, Nian Chaoxi was buried, and all of Yuejian was decorated in white. People of all ages in the city were in mourning. For the next three years, Wu Yan did not seen a single bit of red in Yuejian City.
At her funeral, the former subordinates of the God of War arrived in an orderly manner, and the seniors in the world of cultivation looked solemn.
The last person with the surname Nian also died in the battle. From now on, no one would ever treat her as just the "daughter of the god of war" again.
Death was the best beautification of a person by time. Nian Chaoxi died in battle for the city. At the moment of her death, her arrogant and domineering personality and her bad reputation all disappeared, leaving only the moment when she died for Yuejian City.
At that moment, Wu Yan suddenly felt fear.
Later, her fears came true.
Zong Shu left, Shen Tui left.
Mu Yunzhi didn't come home for a long time, and he wouldn't see her when he did. She took the initiative to look for him. At first he would force a smile at her, but later she could only see him with his back to her.
The intervals between seeing him became longer and longer, from one or two months to one or two years.
He became more and more indifferent and less and less willing to meet her.
However, Wu Yan knew that it was not that he didn't want to meet her, but that Mu Yunzhi was the kind of person who didn't want to confront his own heart, and didn't want to see Wu Yan, the person who represented his past wrong choices.
Wu Yan found it ridiculous, but she had to endure it.
Because she had nowhere to go except the City Lord's Mansion.
She thought she could endure it, until she accidentally broke into Nian Chaoxi's mourning hall while drunk. She just touched that person's tablet, but Mu Yunzhi, who hurried over after hearing the noise, showed an expression that was extremely terrifying.
The furious look on his face at that moment made Wu Yan think that he was going to kill her.
In the end, he just put her under house arrest, and on the second day of the house arrest, the crazed Nightmare Beast suddenly broke into the City Lord's Mansion and cut off one of her arms with a sword.
That madwoman's sword was stained with blood, but she didn't even run away. She watched her struggle in pain and kicked her severed arm away.
She finally felt fear.
Mu Yunzhi hurried back after hearing the news. She endured the pain and asked Mu Yunzhi to kill the Nightmare Beast.
The madwoman looked at her with great contempt, raised her head and said to Mu Yunzhi: "Mu Yunzhi, come on, kill me."
Mu Yunzhi just glanced at her indifferently.
That look, which contained almost no emotion, made her feel as if she were falling into an icy cave.
Then he said to his subordinates, "Take her down."
She was carried away, and in a trance, she heard the man who had watched her for an entire evening just because she knelt all night say to the madwoman, "Now that you have vented your anger, leave the City Lord's Mansion."
The Nightmare Beast sneered and said, "Keep an eye on your people and don't let her touch other people's things."
Mu Yunzhi: "She is not mine."
At this moment, she understood that the Mu Yunzhi in front of her was no longer the Mu Yunzhi who used to treat her gently.
Nian Chaoxi died, and it seemed as if she had taken the former Mu Yunzhi to the underworld with her. The one left in this world was just a cold and heartless wandering soul.
That was the first time Wu Yan witnessed how ruthless Mu Yunzhi was.
But she still underestimated him. Now she had been captured because of him and one of her eyes was blinded, but in return he only said lightly, "Kill her if you want."
Wu Yan suddenly burst into laughter and looked at Mu Yunzhi with hatred, her resentment crushed between her lips and teeth. "Mu Yunzhi, do you think that by treating me coldly and humiliating me, you can make up for your mistakes in the past?"
Mu Yunzhi, who had a cold look on his face, suddenly changed his expression and glared at her unpleasantly.
She felt a mixture of sadness and pain in her heart, but said cheerfully, "No! Was your mistake back then because of me? It was because you were foolish! It was because you coveted power! Even without me, there would be another Wu Yan. Mu Yunzhi, you are a completely despicable villain! Do you think that you will be forgiven by Nian Chaoxi if you humiliate me!"
She said as if cursing him, "No. Even if she comes back to life, she will never forgive you. You will live with her hatred for the rest of your life!"
"I'll make you regret it!"
...
Nian Chaoxi and Yan Weixing were hidden behind a huge rock. After hearing Mu Yunzhi's words 'Kill her if you want', Nian Chaoxi looked stunned: "Ah, this..."
Is this the legendary sweet doting?
Yan Weixing didn't care what those people were saying. When he heard the voice, he just looked up indifferently, then lowered his eyes, staring at the ends of Nian Chaoxi's hair in a trance, his hands ready to move.
After struggling for a while, Nian Chaoxi realized that not only she was dumbstruck, but even the group of people who kidnapped Wu Yan were dumbstruck.
The air was silent for a while, and then the group's apparent leader came back to his senses. He obviously didn't believe Mu Yunzhi's words. He chuckled and said, "Mu Yunzhi, don't think you can trick met into letting her go with this method. I just want the War God Manual. If you hand it over, I will let her go. No, I just want a replica of the God of War Manual. There is no loss for you."
When the four words "God of War Manual" came out, Mu Yunzhi had no reaction, but Nian Chaoxi felt that she was about to be sick.
In the original novel, she did leave behind the jade pendant containing the God of War's Manual after her death, so it's understandable that they were fighting over it.
But now, the only Manual of the God of War was in her sea of consciousness. Are they fighting over nothing?
Nian Chaoxi was very clear on the fact that Mu Yunzhi did not have the so-called God of War Manual at all. She frowned and looked over, but saw that Mu Yunzhi did not deny that he had it  at all.
He just swung his sword and said coldly: "I already said, if you want to kill her, then kill her. As for giving you the War God Manual, it is impossible." His tone was cold and bored.
Nian Chaoxi's expression changed from confusion to a frown.
At first, she, like the kidnappers, thought that Mu Yunzhi's words were intended to bluff about Wu Yan's importance to him, making them think that Wu Yan was dispensable to him, thus relaxing their vigilance and allowing him to rescue her.
But now it seems that Mu Yunzhi really didn't care about Wu Yan's life or death.
He was telling the truth!
Nian Chaoxi found it a little funny.
What is this? When he was her fiancé, he was deeply in love with Wu Yan. Now the engagement is cancelled and she is dead. Is the person he was so in love with no longer important?
Are you a seesaw? Is it fun to swing?
Maybe it was because her expression when she looked at Mu Yunzhi was really bad, that Yan Weixing, who had been silent all this time, suddenly asked out of the blue: "Who is he?"
Nian Chaoxi was caught off guard and answered subconsciously.
She said, "That is my fiance."
Maybe it was because Yan Weixing mentioned the word "fiancé" too many times along the way, so she stumbled over the word when she said it.
As soon as she finished speaking, Yan Weixing, who had been quietly fixing her hair, suddenly froze.
Nian Chaoxi immediately felt something was wrong and felt inexplicably panicked, although she didn't know why she should be panicked over a man who had lost his memory yet insisted that he was her fiancé.
She tried to make amends, but before she could say anything, Yan Weixing behind her suddenly asked quietly, "How many fiancés do you have?"
Nian Chaoxi inexplicably heard a hint of resentment in these words.
Like a girl asking a boyfriend with too many "female friends", 'how many good sisters do you have!'
Nian Chaoxi, who had never had a serious relationship in her life except for the marriage arranged by her father, suddenly seemed to have become a scumbag.
She quickly made amends, "Ex-fiancé! I meant ex-fiancé! Can an ex-fiancé be considered a fiancé? The fate of an ex-fiancé is to be buried in a pit!"
After saying this, she suddenly felt something was wrong.
Yan Weixing isn't even her fiancé, why should she explain to him?
She frowned and immediately showed dissatisfaction.
But the next moment, Yan Weixing suddenly held her face gently, asked her to look directly at him, and said softly: "Xixi, look at me, I am much prettier than that guy."
Nian Chaoxi paused for a moment and forgot what she was going to say.
The man in front of her had a focused look, and his eyes were as deep as the abyss as he stared at her. There was only her in those eyes.
Nian Chaoxi seemed to be bewitched and subconsciously reached out her hand.
But before her fingertips touched him, an extremely resentful voice suddenly came from the other side of the boulder, and Nian Chaoxi suddenly came to her senses.
She took a deep breath, patted his hand gently to let her go, then looked away and whispered, "Let me see what's going on."
Yan Weixing obediently released his hand, but after Nian Chaoxi looked away, his abyss-like eyes suddenly became dangerous, and he looked coldly at the person beyond the boulder.
Nian Chaoxi turned her back around just in time to hear Wu Yan declare with her own ears, "I will make you regret it."
As if to verify what she said, the leader of the kidnappers was impatient to attack her. Wu Yan suddenly said, "I know a lot of Mu Yunzhi's secrets. Not only him, but also Shen Tui, the first counselor of the Medicine Immortal Sect. I grew up with them and I know a lot of their secrets. If you spare my life, all these secrets will be yours."
Mu Yunzhi suddenly looked up at her.
Seeing this, Wu Yan smiled and said, "What? Mu Yunzhi, are you scared? Are you afraid that your secret will be known by others? How does it feel to be betrayed? Compared to betraying others, does it make you feel much worse?"
Mu Yunzhi's face was grim.
Seeing that Wu Yan was useless, the leader was ready to get rid of her since she was in the way. He narrowed his eyes and looked at Wu Yan, then glanced at Mu Yunzhi who had a cold expression.
He slowly withdrew his hand and chuckled, "Interesting, really interesting. In that case, I will spare your life, but..."
He suddenly rudely grabbed Wu Yan's chin and said dangerously, "You'd better really know a secret that interests me. Otherwise, just as easily as I let you go today, I will make you die a thousand times more painfully tomorrow."
Wu Yan was trembling all over because of the fierce murderous intent surrounding him.
The pleasure of taking revenge on Mu Yunzhi faded, and she suddenly doubted whether she had really made a good decision.
But she had no choice but to make a choice, and with the life and death situation just now, she couldn't afford to hesitate.
So she could only tremble and say, "I understand."
She won't regret it. She can't regret it.
Mu Yunzhi, you forced all this.
And you, do you regret it?
A subordinate on the side whispered, "Chief, what should we do?"
The leader sneered, "What should we do? Fight! Even if you die today, you must get the God of War Manual for me!"
The battlefield, which had just calmed down, instantly turned into chaos again.
The battle did not affect the pair hidden behind the boulder. Nian Chaoxi looked on for a while then suddenly shook her head: "It's really a dog-eat-dog situation."
Yan Weixing asked her: "What's wrong?"
Nian Chaoxi said wearily: "It's nothing. I saw enough. Since they're fighting, let's go."
Yan Weixing's eyes lit up slightly: "Aren't you going to save them?"
Nian Chaoxi dug in her ear when she heard that. "Save? Not to mention whether I have the ability to save them right now, even if I do, I can already be considered kind if I don't kick him in the back and cheer for his opponent. Why should I save them?"
Yan Weixing laughed unconsciously and his voice was incredibly gentle: "Okay, then we'll ignore them and go."
He half squatted down and patted his shoulder: "Come."
Maybe it was because she had been carried on his back once, and he had indeed carried her faster than the two of them walking together, this time Nian Chaoxi only hesitated for a moment, then gave up and climbed onto the man's broad back.
The man paused for a moment, then continued walking with her on his back as if nothing had happened.
Before leaving, Nian Chaoxi looked back and said calmly, "It just so happens that they are fighting now and have no time to care about us. Once we find Nianxi and the others, you can directly break the barrier. The faster we leave, the better, so as not to alert the enemy."
Yan Weixing agreed.
On the other side, Mu Yunzhi, who was fighting with dozens of people, suddenly felt a shock in his heart. He didn't know why, but he was distracted during the battle.
For some reason, he turned his head and looked in the direction that made his heart palpitate.
There was nothing but a huge rock on the empty land.
The next moment, because he was distracted, a sword stabbed at his chest. He immediately came to his senses and tried to dodge, avoiding a fatal blow, but the sword pierced his arm.
The man holding the sword sneered, "Master Mu Yunzhi is indeed worthy of being the one who can obtain the War God Manual. He was distracted while fighting with so many of us. It seems that we were not ruthless enough!"
Mu Yunzhi ignored him and quickly glanced in the direction of the boulder.
Still nothing.
For some reason, at this moment, Mu Yunzhi suddenly felt an extremely strong sense of disappointment in his heart.
He took a deep breath, suppressed the restless emotions, and held the sword in front of him to protect himself.
On the other side, Yan Weixing used the sword of a young disciple, stood in front of the barrier, raised his hand and swung the blade. A huge gap was immediately torn in the barrier.
The sword in Yan Weixing's hand couldn't withstand the massive energy and was immediately broken after one strike.
The other disciples were stunned as they watched Yan Weixing tear the barrier apart with just one sword stroke.
Nian Chaoxi was also stunned.
She had seen Yan Weixing rip open a barrier, but at that time, she was not dead yet. Yan Weixing, who was only in the Golden Core Stage, slashed out twelve sword strokes in a row in order to tear the demonic barrier.
But now, it only took one blow.
Nian Chaoxi wondered at that time, what would a genius like Yan Weixing grow into after a hundred years?
Now Yan Weixing has given her the answer.
And such a dangerous journey would definitely not be unknown.
Maybe when she gets to the city, she can ask around about Yan Weixing?
By the way, where was Yan Weixing's original sword with the blood-red blade?
There was also Jingwang. Jingwang used to be almost inseparable from Yan Weixing. Now that he has lost his memory and was wandering around, was Jingwang also looking for him?
Many thoughts went through Nian Chaoxi's mind. Yan Weixing looked back at her and asked in confusion: "Xixi, aren't we leaving yet?"
This familiar look immediately brought her back to reality. She knew that once the barrier was broken, it would definitely alert others, so she immediately said, "Let's go. The sooner the better!"
The young disciples suddenly came to their senses and hurriedly climbed onto the flying boat.
Yan Weixing sat beside her. Nian Chaoxi personally controlled the boat. Before passing through the barrier, she looked back again.
She thought, Mu Yunzhi, you'd better never appear in front of me again in this life.
...
After Mu Yunzhi got rid of those people, his body was covered with wounds of varying sizes.
But he didn't care about his injury and quickly went towards the cemetery.
Those people did not all choose to fight him to the death. When they saw the heavy casualties, they immediately retreated.
Wu Yan was also taken away.
Mu Yunzhi watched Wu Yan leave with his own eyes, but he felt nothing in his heart.
Perhaps, many years ago, after Nian Chaoxi's death, it became difficult for him to feel anything about anything in this world.
Rather, after Wu Yan left, he felt relieved.
It wasn't as if he had lost something, but rather gotten rid of something.
It was a wrong choice that he regretted for the rest of his life; a constant reminder of how he lost Nian Chaoxi, the thorn in his heart.
He finally arrived at Xixi's grave and did not break his promise.
But unexpectedly, Shen Tui, who was supposed to leave, was still there.
Mu Yunzhi couldn't help but frown.
Over the years, it had been their tacit understanding to avoid each other when leaving offerings to Xixi, so why was Shen Tui still here?
He walked over quickly, and the person with his back to him suddenly turned around, holding a piece of burnt cloth half the size of a palm in his hand.
He held up the piece of cloth, his expression half laughing and half crying: "Mu Yunzhi, Xixi's tomb has been disturbed."
Mu Yunzhi's expression turned cold and he looked over immediately.
There were indeed signs that Xixi's grave had been tampered with.
But before he could get angry, Shen Tui's next words made him fall into unspeakable shock.
He held up the burnt cloth and said in a hoarse voice, "I found this thing in the ashes of a fire inside a dilapidated temple. There are traces of water and clouds on this cloth. Only the Nightmare Beast could embroider this. The color of this cloth is exactly the same as the color of the clothes Xixi wore when she died in battle."
"But Xixi's body was clearly gone back then."

Okay, so. No one needs to hear me out on this. I’m just saying. One day I’m going to crack and heave out all my biting commentary about Naruto gender and clan and lineage politics through the lens of an always-a-different-sex Kakashi fic or outline, and it’s just going to… exist… out there.
No one else gets changed, it’s just Kakashi, and it’s going to be a nightmare from start to finish that’s definitely also heavily tinged by my personal perspective on being agender aro ace.

Class, race, gender division, economic inequality, etc, etc.
it's sex division, not gender. if you think any of the women on tga could change their pronouns and be treated better you're delusional to the reality of female oppression lmao.
Hey anon, that was not my point at all? I was just making the broad statement about how much The Gilded Age era mirrors today sociopolitically speaking. Maybe I should have specified on the semantics of gender vs sex, but that is a bigger and much more nuanced discussion...I was referring to gender role divisions and the socially constructed ideals and norms within the context of the show. Women must marry for money, security, they have no vote, must become a wife and mother, tend to the house, can't earn a living on her own, and even when they do, the gender pay gap is significant.
As much as we have progressed in those 145 years, we are regressing back to those 'conservative and traditional' boxes. Women still face the same expectations of gender roles today, maybe not as harsh in 1880's, but there is a reason why The Gilded Age is so relatable. At least here in the US, the Republican party is trying their damndest to make women dependent on men again, stripping us of our autonomy, right to vote, economic freedom AND freedom to express ourselves the way we want to, including the right to use any pronoun that fits within our identity and preferred gender expression. This also includes trans, and non-binary people, by the way, who have it much, much harder.
Anyone who doesn't fit in the mold of those 'roles' or on the socially constructed 'binary of sex and gender’ faces oppression and unequal treatment. I hope if there was some sort of modern gilded age rendition, we'd see those stories told as well, but my whole point was about the congruent issues of today and how I loved seeing the characters fight against those norms and be a driver of change in a similar climate we face today.

Wrong side of history. Wrong side of science. Wrong side of Reality.
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/04/16/the-famous-faces-who-insisted-trans-women-are-women/
By Fiona Parker April 16, 2025
From politicians to celebrities, many of the great and the good have taken up the trans debate with gusto.
Following Wednesday’s Supreme Court ruling that a trans woman is legally not a woman, here are some of the leading figures who have insisted the opposite, or claimed they must have access to spaces traditionally reserved for females.
Owen Jones
The Guardian columnist has frequently spoken out on the gender debate.
In a 2019 column on the dwindling number of public lavatories, he wrote: “Twenty-first-century toilet provision must cater for gender-neutral spaces and ensure that the rights of trans people are protected too.”
Daniel Radcliffe
The star of the Harry Potter film series was at the centre of a row with JK Rowling in 2020 over the writer’s stance on gender.
He said: “Transgender women are women. Any statement to the contrary erases the identity and dignity of transgender people.”
Sir Keir Starmer
The Prime Minister appears to have changed his views on the gender debate over the years.
In 2022, the then Labour leader said: “A woman is a female adult, and, in addition to that, trans women are women, and that is not just my view, that is actually the law”.
Jameela Jamil
The actress and presenter suggested debates about transgender women in sport were being used to “distract” from the rollback of abortion rights.
As part of a tweet in 2022, she wrote: “Our uteruses are being controlled by the government but no no, let’s keep distracting ourselves with the vast minority that is trans women in sports.”
Emma Watson
The actress who played Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films was also involved the row with Rowling. In 2020, Watson tweeted: “Trans people are who they say they are and deserve to live their lives without being constantly questioned.”
Rupert Grint
The actor, who played Ron Weasley, joined his Harry Potter co-stars in speaking out on the transgender debate in 2020. He said: “I firmly stand with the trans community.
“Trans women are women. Trans men are men. We should all be entitled to live with love and without judgement.”
Sir Elton John
The musician said gender-critical comments made by Germaine Greer had shown her to be “an attention seeker” in an interview with Emily Maitlis in 2015.
David Tennant
The former Doctor Who star said Kemi Badenoch, then-equalities minister, should “shut up” about her views on transgender people.
Accepting an award for “celebrity ally” at the British LGBT Awards in 2024, Tennant said: “Until we wake up and Kemi Badenoch doesn’t exist any more – I don’t wish ill of her, I just wish her to shut up  whilst we do live in this world, I am honored to receive this [award].”
Kylie Minogue
The pop star briefly addressed a question on single-sex spaces when interviewed by the Guardian in 2020.
She said: “If you’re a transgender woman, you should use the women’s facilities, surely?” before redirecting the conversation.
Eddie Redmayne
The British Star was nominated for an Oscar for his role as transgender Lili Elbe in the 2015 film The Danish Girl.
However, in 2021, he said it was a “mistake” for him to take on the role as a “cisgender” actor.
He said: “No, I wouldn’t take it on now. I made that film with the best intentions, but I think it was a mistake.”
Jolyon Maugham KC
Jolyon Maugham described LGB Alliance as a “transphobic hate group”. Mr Maugham, who founded Good Law Project, told Pink News in 2021: “I strongly encourage you to quote me calling the LGB Alliance a transphobic hate group.” LGB Alliance is an advocacy group which describes itself as “asserting the right of lesbians, bisexuals and gay men to define themselves as same-sex attracted”.
Zendaya
Zendaya told Vogue that feminism should be inclusive of “all women” including trans women. Speaking to the magazine in 2021, the actress said true feminism must encompass “women that look like you, women who don’t look like you, women whose experiences are different than you”.
She continued: “That means black women, that means trans women, that means all women.”
Jedward
The X Factor stars, whose real names are John and Edward Grimes, also waded into the JK Rowling row in 2020 following the publication of her book ‘Troubled Blood’. Tweeting from their official account, the brothers wrote: “Does anyone need firewood this winter! JK’s new book is perfect to burn next to a romantic fire. Aww get all cozy and comfy can’t wait.”
Lily Allen
The outspoken singer posted a meme, a visual joke, in 2015 which pointed to a brain stating “gender is up here” and then to a pair of underpants that said “not down there”.
Tumblr media
Jeremy Corbyn
Jeremy Corbyn was leader of the Labour Party in 2018 when he told the BBC that “the position of the party is that where you have self-identified as a woman, then you are treated as a woman”.

deciding between watching tmopb vs gmp, how would you say the treatment of the female characters by the narrative is in each?
Surprisingly tough question! I would argue that, overall, in each show, the female characters are largely treated, by the narrative, on par with the male characters. This is not to say they’re not having a shitty time—the women in Goodbye My Princess are on average having it worse than most of the men, because they live in a sexist, patriarchal society (at at a certain point in the story, a lot of the female characters on screen are also in the imperial harem, with all of its internal politics and constraints)—but EVERYONE is having a shitty time of it, at one point or another. I think I noted in the tags of a GMP reblog that very often, female characters come into their fullest agency on this show when they’re choosing whether and how to die. But this is very much based in the sexist constraints of the historically informed setting, as well as the overall arching theme of power as a kind of trap, and the pursuit of power as a path of moral corruption. Does the world of GMP respect women? No. Does the narrative? Oh yes.
Most of the female leads on Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms suffer from terminal love brain, but this is the resting state of the show; the male leads are all equally dumb due to chronic love disease. The whole show just vibes on that particular frequency and therefore there is a pleasing consistency to the bad decision-making among women and men alike. (Also I should rush to clarify that some of these characters are very intelligent in general? It’s fun to watch Ye Hua make plans! Just uh. Not about romance.) Su Jin is….arguably a misogynistic trope. It’s just like, such a bonkers effective execution of the jealous, scheming female foil that I cannot bring myself to want her to be anything other than what she is. She is the Darth Vader of jealous exes. She is ICONIC. They should have retired the type after Su Jin. They should have named the type after Su Jin, and then put it up on a shelf where no one can reach it. Some people will probably have issues with her, and I understand this! However I love her in the sense that I want to roll her in a felt carpet and have a herd of horses trample over it, in the ancient Mongolian style of execution of a worthy enemy. The protagonist Bai Qin is interesting because she herself is a fairly atypical xianxia female lead—she’s a seventy thousand year old alcoholic war veteran who grew up in a frat house, and her two favorite hobbies are lying about her identity and dumping people. She has a kind of self-assurance and rooted authority I find pretty noteworthy in a female character (admittedly she is also the queen of a politically significant country, this is not coming out of nowhere) and maybe even more worthy of note is that the show is very comfortable with this and there’s no narrative push to soften her edges or take her down a peg.
Anyway I’m genuinely hesitant to push you in one direction or the other because while I think, for instance, that GMP is a better show, the death rate of major female characters is VERY high, and even the ones who make it out alive don’t have what I’d call happy endings. (Even Mi Luo! Although she comes the closest.) After all, it IS the tragedy show. Whereas TMOPB…well, uh, it does have some bummer outcomes in there, but it is a very happy ending for the main pairing, and I think narratively speaking it’s a very satisfying experience for Bai Qin overall.
