I already reblogged it but I wanted to say it again-
You did a REALLY nice job on the Mettaton & Tenna comparison analysis.
Do you have anything to say about the fact that in DR, the option to give Tenna to Mettaton is there? And that Mettaton seems to appreciate him? Can that relate to the theming in some metaphorical way?
First of all, thank you!
I've actually have a few Thoughts about it that I've been considering writing down... First things of all, I don't think it's a coincidence that Mettaton, as the symbol of modernity, of moving forwards, ends up being where Tenna needed to move forwards to. Like, Tenna accepting that the past is past is what makes it possible for him to move towards a better now. And Mettaton is that 'better now' for him, because that's already kinda what he represents.
There's also the thing of Hopes and Dreams both being necessary and being part of the balance of Light and Dark. Tenna brings Mettaton some much-needed Hopes, and as a Darkner, he's validated by Mettaton's Dreams.
One concept I had rattling in my head is that this is a sort of a cross-universe culmination/'full circle' of Mettaton's character arc, the person who the Audience knows has a problem with abandoning and leaving people behind is the perfect person to take in the person who has been abandoned.
Or if you wanna look at it the other way around, that Deltarune is thematically a 'prequel' (and Mettaton is clearly at an earlier point of his character arc compared to Undertale), then you can say his rise to stardom is making both his dreams and Tenna's dreams come true by making the TV into an Exciting Modern Concept in the Underground, and using it to bring joy and entertainment to countless Monsters.
Another thing I've been thinking of is that if Tenna's 'salacious' music video ends up somewhat inspiring Mettaton to fulfil his dreams in the Deltarune timeline as well...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well, that might be a bit bittersweet from Tenna's perspective cause he wouldn't get Watched as much if Mettaton actually started getting out of the house (although I don't think he'd get totally ignored like he was in the current Dreemurrs household) but... it's like, because Tenna learned how to move forwards with his life, that made it possible for him to inspire a Lightner to do the same.
Tenna was so fixated on Nostalgia and Escapism because for the Dreemurrs he was only a symbol for their memories of happier times and a way to escape the stress of their Family Drama, so these are the emotions that were imbued into his very essence. With Mettaton, Tenna is now actually capable of representing the future, even though he's still outdated technology, he can represent progress, he can be the Hope that you can achieve your Dreams.
So, um, yeah, these thoughts are still kinda disorganized and I might make a more coherent post about them later, but there is certainly a Lot to talk about there!

I wonder what Geno's skull would feel like post getting out of the screen? I know that in the comic, it's drawn as basically healed minus the eye, but I kinda like to think it's a bit shaped different. And parts still look melted, but also as of they're dry? Think candle wax
oh this is cool!!!! i don't really think this because i think geno wouldn't have fully healed from eating the pie. so that part would still be melting. so basically MOST of him is solid at that point except for some of his bones and his face
and if that part would still be melting, the rest of him would melt more over time . my vision.... my vision dude

So, do you have any lore on Genocide!Swap Sans?
He's in this old but popular image consisting of a bunch of AU Sanses, and I was curious about the lore, so after some digging I saw people credit you as his creator, but I couldn't find any of his lore
yeah! my friend diz drew that a few years ago @dizplicity-draws
there's an abandoned fic i wrote a long time ago with the main plot centering around flowey fucking with sans until he goes a bit insane and he ends up doing his own genocide run because he's stricken with grief after something he did. i rewrote the first chapter if you want to read it! (the old fic is called "Something's Different" and it's also on ao3 but it's pretty bad because i was like 14 when i wrote it lol)

I know Connor made a funny post about it a while back but I do genuinely think that the biggest disconnect between Fable and Skybound in a hypothetical crossover situation wouldn't be species stuff or gods or magic or anything like that, it would be the void
because in Fable the void isn't viewed like something that's out to get you. They are kind, but powerful. Something beyond comprehension but not in a menacing way. It is dangerous, but its more respected than it is feared. It is the source of all life and the end of all things. It isn't a malevolent entity that seeks to consume, but it is a force of nature, and nature is neither good nor evil.
But in Skybound the void is something not just to be cautious of, but to live in fear of. for many years it was, like fable, a force of nature to the average avian. They didn't know it was hungry, that it sought to consume and destroy and decay, only being held back by constant cruelty and sacrifice. It sent up creatures to expedite its work, it was a complete lack of magic and a constant vacuum. There was no kindness. There was no nurturing embrace. Only a lack of everything.
I feel like most of the Skybound characters hear Rae get called "Void Prince/King" once and are immediately on guard. Because in their view, it would be like he commanded it. Like he was somehow its guardian or ruler. That he was the source off all that emptiness and hurt. When in reality, it is more of a claim to his heritage. It is an homage to his birthright as Epros's grandson and Enderian's son. it is not something he commands, but more of where he comes from (not saying that knowing this wouldn't also freak out the avians but)
Epros's very existence would baffle them, terrify most. a personification of all that sought to destroy them. The source of so much pain and heartache. and being in Brightstep would more confuse most fable characters. Because they're careful flying across the void like most people are careful swimming in the Ocean, but the avians have to be even more careful because falling into the void isn't just death, its a sickness that tears apart your very being. That kills you slowly and painfully and infects everything you are.
I just think its so different for all of them and it would be probably one of the hardest hurdles to get past should they be in each others worlds. (I mean Skybound characters would only interact with the void if they went to the end and travel between the four dimensions alone would probably be such a complex issue but thats a whole nother conversation)

I feel like the “retired” fable smp characters (what I’ve started calling post-s3 finale fable characters) would just randomly drop lore events on new people they meet.
Like tell me retired Ulysses Themist wouldn’t sporadically drop “oh, me? I used to make biological sea weapons. Made a sentient creature once from the genes of a god. She’s my child now.”
Icarus post-Quixis just saying “oh yeah turns out I was the reason the entire multiverse was crumbling because the guy before me didn’t want a 12-year-old protecting the multiverse.”
Fenris just pulling the “I’m dating two gods and a son of a major god and have been for who knows how long. All in some way from the end. Really happy I betrayed the overworld, that god was a bitch. Didn’t like being a wolf because of it though”

I want to put your Frisk, Chara, and Asriel in a snowglobe and shake them around /pos
They're so cute and canon it's insane
Also.... I see that lyric from the crane wives, I love them too (it's always Chara fans who like the crane wives for some reason)
Any songs you'd say suit Chara specifically?
Thank you very much!! That's a huge compliment! :]
The Crane Wives are one of my absolute favorite music groups. I got to go to one of their concerts with a friend this year and it was probably the best day of my life to be honest.
Hard question for me to answer because any song can be Characore if I think about it enough, especially The Crane Wives songs because their vibe is already pretty Characore tbh. BUT Canary in a Coal Mine and Strangler Fig in particular fit them really well. The actual meanings of the songs don't fit probably but taking the line "You built your kingdom around me", "I gave you everything I had and now I want it back" from Strangler Fig and deriving the rest of the meaning of the song from that makes me think it's very fitting for them. Plus vibes.
Canary in a Coal Mine is just my favorite song by them, I love it so so much. It always makes me think of Chara. "You and I are friends of empty graves, black air, and black black lungs" HELLO. "And when you break the surface without me, please don't return me to the dark of all the memories". It's just Their Song in my mind.
Back to the Ground. "Our hearts lay still and cold, under ice and frozen soil. I can't stay here anymore, so remember when I go. To give me back, give me back to the ground." Vibes.
Never Love an Anchor. NEVER LOVE AN ANCHOR. This one's so them it's painful. Obviously not related to any kind of romantic love for them. But like. "A ship could never love an anchor, so I did the only thing I could, cut the rope that set you sailing from my harbor". UAGH. " You'll never see the reasons I had for keeping my claws away when they were close enough to hurt you.." Them feeling so out of place with how much the Dreemurrs cared about them, feeling like they're not deserving of so much love because it's so different from what they're used to. They'll mess it up because they're a demon. Etc! I cannot explain this coherently but surely you understand.
The Garden. Less fitting probably but the vibes are there.
I could probably talk about this all day to be honest, I love making connections with song lyrics, but. I will stop here. Maybe some day I'll be able to make all the animatics to songs I want to make because it would be much easier to show it visually.

Because of the state i live in, there is like one Starbucks and it's in an airport, so I RARELY hear about the company.
So every time someone mentions they went to Starbucks I just wonder how they know about the Fable SMP and specifically Starbarks. No, they're just talking about a full company, not my autism enrichment

Hey I saw your ask to someone about Storyshift. The one where you're confused about why people give Chara boobs?
(Long yap incoming)
To put it simply, no, Voltra's creator never made them a girl (at least, in both their reboot write up and original info, they always use *they/them* for Chara)
It's a product of the fandom, especially the early one, being filled with weirdos and kids.
Basically, people already assumed Chara was a girl, so they're gonna do the same for an AU Chara. And the more well known a nonbinary character is, the more likely it is that they're misgendered.
Plus, as a bonus, I have a theory that could apply here. Basically, Storyshift Chara is mostly seen in games where you fight them & they're your enemy. In other words, where they're 'evil' from the player's POV. That's especially enhanced when people use knives for their attacks when they canonically have plant magic.
But back on the "evil" thing, I have an overly specific theory on how Chara being seen as evil and them being seen as a girl could be directly related. This might partially apply here, so here's a link to it:
https://www.tumblr.com/the-fabled-void/771160643711696896/i-have-an-unnecessary-theory-i-made-about-how-some?source=share
Thanks, will read it :)
Wonderful insight.
