You should, in fact, fact check.

You should be able to search for news and have a critical thinking skill.

You should have any other ways to feel happiness and a sense of belonging to the world than a single social media app.

You should have a life beside that one social media app. it doesn't have to be grand. You can have a hobby. Any hobby. But, for your own benefit, you should find something else to do, beside that one social media app.

That kind of dependency on social media is simply not good for you and your mental health.

I never post my headcanons because I tend to integrate them into stories, but I also love me some mintteashipping content and wanna work on spreading the propaganda. So:

Headcanon: Drayton is a bit of a thrill seeker at times, but he mostly does stupid shenanigans around Carmine to provoke her and get her attention. Carmine, in a very flustered - but angry tsundere way - starts shouting at him and pulling at him because she's worried he'll hurt himself. Little does she know it inadvertently reveals her feelings in the process. 😂

Defending Kousano online isn’t enough, I need to reach into people’s brains and make them understand that sapphic ships deserve to be just as complicated as mlm ones, and that a wlw ship being toxic doesn’t automatically make it unlikable. For years femslash ships in male-dominated media were only depicted as the “fluffy side-pairings” and we’ve been seeing a shift in that lately with the rise of “toxic yuri.” This is good!! Fluffy ships are great but lesbians deserve just as much diversity in their pairings as ships that involve men. Not everyone likes toxic ships but the people who do don’t deserve to be called evil when they’re not doing anything inherently wrong. The two strongest arguments against Kousano (“people only ship it because it’s hot” + “it would be toxic”) sound so hypocritical when you take into account how those same antis eat up mlm ships with the same problems. Most Kousano shippers are lesbians anyways so calling people lesbiphobic for liking the ship is both chronically online and just plain stupid

I don't have time to explain this as much as I would like to right now, but the trend of short vertical videos showing a cool/interesting thing and then a narrator explaining EVERY action has me worried about media literacy and critical thinking, all that kind of stuff. specifically, when they tell you things that you 1. can easily see or 2. you should be able to make the assumption based on the given information.

I'm talking videos that show someone doing a nice action for a stranger, and then the narrator says "after that, she even helped carry the old man's groceries" as the same actions are shown on screen. and again in the same fairly monotone, corporate-y cadence, "this is truly a sweet moment." as if you needed to be told that.

and it's different from a regular person saying "aww, isn't it so sweet?" because there's hardly any emotion. are these videos made by AI? I wouldn't be surprised. or maybe they're just formulaic slop churned out by big channels, I don't know, maybe both.

My main question is whether these became a thing for people who can't see well/at all so that they could understand what's happening, or if it was because their target demographic is younger kids (especially on youtube shorts). if anyone knows, or if anyone likes these videos because they can't see it themselves, I'd love to hear your opinion. obviously if they're helpful with that, they're worth learning from, at least for that aspect.

but it feels so much like people need to be explicitly handed stories in order to feel like they understand them, when making inferences is so important. it's crucial to people developing social skills and thinking, and I'd guess the kids watching youtube shorts all day are getting less of that as it is.

obviously I'm not saying that this is gonna ruin adults' brains and make them incapable or something, but I am thinking about my little brother who watches these kinds of videos all the time. ones where he can turn his brain off while someone spoon feeds him which reaction he "should" be having.
